Ok, I hope you learned a little about the Antichrist, probably more than you wanted to know. It seems like every couple of months I read or someone says, 'Did you hear that so-and-so is the Antichrist' ? The list has grown quite extensive. The following is sort of a who's who list of people thought to be the Antichrist:

Yasser Arafat, 'The Beast' (the Super Computer of the EU in Brussels), Jimmy Carter, Bill Gates, Mikhail Gorbachev, John F Kennedy, Henry Kissinger, Martin Luther, Benito Mussolini, Nero Caesar, Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, Pat Robertson, David Rockefeller, Anwar Sadat, Saddam Hussein, Willy Brandt, Caligula, King Juan Carlos of Spain, Emperor Frederick II of Germany, King George II of England, Emperor Justinian, Ayatollah Khomeini, Nikita Khrushchev, Sun Myung Moon, Napoleon Bonaparte, Czar Peter the Great, Pete Seeger, Josef Stalin, Kaiser Wilhelm and Boris Yeltsin.

So when will the Antichrist appear or be revealed ? As soon as the restrainer is taken out of the way. Yes, God actually has a restraining force preventing the Antichrist form appearing, but just as soon as the restrainer is removed, the Antichrist will make his move.

Who or what is the restrainer ?

"For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way."       2 Thessalonians 2:7

The restrainer is the Holy Spirit's work through God's Church, God is going to Rapture , remove the Church from this planet:

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words."       1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

After the Lord removes the restrainer (the Church), literally all Hell will break loose. The Antichrist will come on the scene and will deceive multitudes, he will be attractive and mesmerizing. He will astonish the world with his amazing ability to solve problems and unite cultures and religions that would have never possible before the removal of the restraining presence of the Church. He will even convince the world that the disappearance of the Church was a necessary global cleansing. That the teachings of the Church was a negative force that had been the cause of  wars and upheaval for centuries. Yes, believers in Jesus, the Church will end up looking like the bad guys and all will appear well, or so it will seem   for exactly three and a half years...

"Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. "Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. "And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!   "And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be."  Matthew 24:15-21

If you think life is rough now, you haven't seen nothing yet, the last half of the seven year period known as the Great Tribulation, will be the most deadly, catastrophic, cataclysmic period in the history of this planet. But there is a way to escape, God loves us so much that he has provided a way of to avoid the Great Tribulation all together.  Even though it cost him dearly, it cost him his most prized possession, his Son !

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
