PERILOUS TIMES
:
The Bible tells us that in the last days, perilous times
shall come.
“But realize this, that in the last days perilous times will
come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money,
boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents,
ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious
gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather
than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although
they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.” 2
Timothy 3:1-5
These words were written nearly 2000 years ago but they
perfectly describe the times in which we are presently
living in. At no time in history were times more perilous on
a global scale than they are now. There have always been
wars, and rumors of wars, but never has the potential for
the utter destruction of the human race been more profound.
We are living in the last days according to the Bible.
BOOK EXCERPT
Perilous times in the last days
The Bible tells us that in the last days, perilous times
shall come. I say not only shall they come, but they are
already here and therefore we are already living in the Last
Days. After having reviewed Timothy’s list of the warning
signs that will be prevalent in the world in the last days,
I think that you would also have to agree.
Each of the warning signs that we reviewed are connected and
one leads to the other and is a byproduct of the previous.
We are living in a time where the lines between good and
evil has become so blurred that you can’t tell one from the
other. No longer are the days where the good guys always
wore white hats and the bad guys black hats, today they can
wear either one or worse yet they wear a grey hat. We are
living in a time where what used to be good is now called
evil and what used to be considered evil is now called good
and they are “proud” of it! We are living in a time where
technology enables anyone to view and download any type of
evil imaginable of course we don’t call it evil anymore we
call it entertainment. It’s no wonder that the statistics
for crime, pornography, child abuse, drug abuse, rape,
teenage pregnancy, teen-suicide, domestic violence and
divorce are all at their highest levels ever.
One of the most devious characteristics about the “perilous
times of these Last Days” is the spiritual and religious
deception that will pervade the world. Doctrinal deception,
lying spirits, great wonders, and miracle movements in the
last days will be the calling card of the spirit of Satan’s
Antichrist and the False Prophet. Many churches today not
only deny the doctrinal truths of the Bible, but they also
incorporate some of the most blasphemous ideals in the world
into the very makeup of the church. Many churches today are
seeker-friendly and teach a “feel good” gospel that never
offends, leaving out basic truths like sin, and hell.
We have to be careful of what we believe even when it comes
from someone we may trust as a good teacher. We see in Acts
17:10-11 that Paul was declaring Jesus Christ to those in
Berea and those in Berea were receiving what Paul had to
say. However, they did not take what Paul taught as
absolute truth, but examined what Paul taught by the
Scriptures. Paul said, "To examine all things and hold fast
to that which is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21 NASB) We
are instructed through the inspiration of the Word to
examine what we hear and to be careful of what we are being
taught.
Now that we have determined that we are truly living in the
Last Days, we need find out what we can expect and what we
need to do to survive. Thankfully, we have a guide that lays
out the entire scenario from start to finish; it is the last
book of the Bible and it’s called the book of Revelation.
