LIVING ON BORROWED TIME - DVD
A morally and spiritually bankrupt society …A worldwide economic meltdown…A planet racked with increasingly intense manmade and natural disasters…Are we the Final Generation?
Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 24:42-44
Reviews: The DVD should be seen by small groups and youth ministries far and wide. The clear quoting and referencing of bible verses is especially strong. The collage of dramatic imagery - both in photography and artwork, grabs the viewers' attention and weaves the conclusion that God is about to continue His plan in a major way. The video is so fresh - the oil explosion and spill in the Gulf of Mexico is shown as one example of how this old world is wearing out and is in flames
The video next defends the authorship and reliability of the bible before showing eight unmistakable developments in our world that point toward the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The number one sign given to our generation is the return of the Jewish people to form the nation of Israel. Jesus Christ is now standing at the door waiting to take his beloved bride- His true believers. Like the admonition from the Book of Jude, verse 23, I pray that this DVD will be used by the Holy Spirit to pluck dying people out of the fire before the borrowed time runs out. - John Wicklund - Chair- Olive Tree Ministries Board of Directors - Maple Grove, MN

Clinton opens new round of Mideast peace talks - Matthew Lee and Matti Freedman - www.news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON – Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton formally opened the first
direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians in nearly two years on
Thursday, imploring the parties to ignore the long history of failed
negotiations and make needed compromises to forge an agreement.
At a ceremony in the State Department's ornate Benjamin Franklin room, Clinton
said the Obama administration was committed to forging a settlement in a year's
time. But, she stressed that the heavy lifting must be done by Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
"We will be an active and sustained partner," she said. "But we cannot and we
will not impose a solution. Only you can make the decisions necessary to reach
an agreement and secure a peaceful future for the Israeli and Palestinian
people."
Netanyahu and Abbas pledged their seriousness to securing an agreement and
overcoming decades of mutual hostility and suspicion.
"This will not be easy," Netanyahu said. "True peace, a lasting peace, will be
achieved only with mutual and painful concessions from both sides."
"We do know how hard are the hurdles and obstacles we face during these
negotiations — negotiations that within a year should result in an agreement
that will bring peace," Abbas said.
Abbas called on Israel to end Jewish settlements in the West Bank and other
areas that the Palestinians want to be part of their own state. Netanyahu
insisted that any agreement must assure Israel's security.
Thursday's negotiations are the first since the last effort broke down in
December 2008 and are fraught with complications, including recent violence in
the West Bank and Israeli settlement activity. Expectations are low and U.S.
officials have said success may be only an agreement to hold a second round of
negotiations.
Officials say they are hoping to arrange that meeting for Sept. 15 in the
Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik and top aides to the leaders are
expected to meet later Thursday to iron out final details of the next step.
Sitting at the top of a U-shaped table between Netanyahu and Abbas, Clinton
congratulated the two for agreeing to resume negotiations but warned of
difficult days to come in the effort to create an independent Palestinian state.
"I know the decision to sit at this table was not easy," Clinton added. "We
understand the suspicion and skepticism that so many feel borne out of years of
conflict and frustrated hopes."
She noted two recent attacks on Israelis in the West Bank claimed by the
militant Hamas movement underscored the difficulties facing the two leaders.
"But, by being here today, you each have taken an important set toward freeing
your peoples from the shackles of a history we cannot change and moving toward a
future of peace and dignity that only you can create."
Hamas gunmen killed four Israeli residents of a West Bank settlement on Tuesday
as Netanyahu, Abbas and the leaders of Egypt and Jordan convened in Washington.
And on Wednesday, hours before the leaders ate dinner at the White House, Hamas
gunmen wounded two Israelis as they drove in their car in another part of the
West Bank.
The talks will face their first test within weeks, at the end of September, when
the Israeli government's declared slowdown in settlement construction is slated
to end.
Palestinians have said that a renewal of settlement construction will torpedo
the talks. The Israeli government is divided over the future of the slowdown,
and a decision to extend it could split Netanyahu's hawkish coalition. Netanyahu
has given no indication so far that it will continue beyond the deadline.
Direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations broke off nearly two years ago, in
December 2008, and the Obama administration spent its first 20 months in office
coaxing the two sides back to the bargaining table. Despite the success in
launching the talks, gaps between the sides are wide, distrust remains after
years of violence and deadlock, and expectations are low.
After listening to the Mideast leaders he convened Wednesday night, Obama
pronounced himself carefully optimistic. "I am hopeful, cautiously hopeful, but
hopeful," he said.
Israel concedes
Jerusalem before negotiations even begin - Aaron Klein -
www.wnd..com
Also agrees to forfeit holy sites to be governed by
'special regime'
JERUSALEM – Ahead of the start of today's Mideast summit in Washington, the
Israeli government publicly conceded sections of Jerusalem will become part of a
Palestinian state while holy sites would be governed by a "special regime."
Speaking in an interview with Israel's Haaretz newspaper, Defense Minister Ehud
Barak outlined a deal with the Palestinians: "West Jerusalem and 12 Jewish
neighborhoods that are home to 200,000 residents will be ours. The Arab
neighborhoods in which close to a quarter million Palestinians live will be
theirs."
"There will be a special regime in place along with agreed upon arrangements in
the Old City, the Mount of Olives and the City of David," added Barak.
Barak told the newspaper what is needed "is courage to make historic, painful
decisions. I'm not saying that there is certainty for success, but there is a
chance. This chance must be exploited to the fullest."
Israel annexed northern and eastern Jerusalem, including the Old City and the
Temple Mount, during the 1967 Six-Day War. The Palestinians, however, have
claimed eastern Jerusalem as a future capital.
About 244,000 Arabs live in Jerusalem, mostly in eastern neighborhoods, out of a
total population of 724,000, the majority Jewish. Many of Jerusalem's Arabs live
illegally on Jewish-owned property
A WND investigation previously determined the U.S. has been aiding the
Palestinians in developing infrastructure in eastern Jerusalem, including on
property owned by Jews.
The situation has been unfolding in the northern Jerusalem neighborhoods of Kfar
Akeb, Qalandiya and Samir Amis, which are close to the Jewish neighborhoods of
Neve Yaacov and Pisgat Zeev in Israel's capital. Kfar Akeb, Qalandiya and Samir
Amis are located entirely within the Jerusalem municipality. Over 100,000 Arabs
live in those neighborhoods.
Jews lived in Kfar Akeb, Qalandiya and Samir Amis years before the establishment
of Israel in 1948, but they were violently expelled during deadly Arab riots in
1929.
Jordan, together with other Arab countries, attacked Israel after its founding
in 1948 and administered the three Jerusalem neighborhoods as well as all of
eastern Jerusalem following an armistice agreement. In 1967, Jordan attacked
again, and Israel liberated the entire city of Jerusalem in the Six-Day War.
During the period of Jordanian control, some new construction took place,
including in areas previously purchased by Jews.
A WND tour of the three Jerusalem neighborhoods found some surprising
developments. Official PA logos and placards abound, including one glaring red
street sign at the entrance to the neighborhoods warning Israelis to keep out.
Another official sign, in Kfar Akeb in Jerusalem, reads in English,
"Ramallah-Jerusalem Road. This project is a gift form (sic) the American people
to the Palestinian people in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and
PECDAR. 2007." The sign bears the emblems of the American and PA governments and
of the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID. The displays were
not present during a previous WND tour of the neighborhoods in 2006.
Some local schools in the Jerusalem neighborhoods are officially run by the PA –
some in conjunction with the U.N. – with many teachers drawing PA salaries.
Civil disputes are usually settled not in Israeli courts but by the PA judicial
system, although at times Israeli courts are used, depending on the matter.
Councils governed by PA President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization oversee some
municipal matters. USAID provides the PA funds for road and infrastructure
projects.
Israeli security officials said the local Jerusalem police rarely operate in
Kfar Akeb, Qalandiya and Samir Amis; instead security has been turned over to
the Israel Defense Forces and Border Police, who work almost daily with PA
security forces. The PA police operate in the Jerusalem neighborhoods in
coordination with Israel.
Shmulik Ben Ruby, spokesman for the Jerusalem police, confirmed the arrangement.
"If there are fights between some local families, sometimes we involve the PA
police to make peace between the families," he told WND. "Yes, the PA police can
operate in these neighborhoods in coordination with the IDF and Border Police."
U.S. Jewish group to blame for 'division'?
Key land in Qalandiya and Kfar Akeb is owned by the Jewish National Fund, which
over the years has allowed tens of thousands of Arabs to illegally squat on its
land, resulting in the current Arab majority.
The organization bought the land in the early 1920s using Jewish donor funds for
the specific purpose of Jewish settlement.
But the JNF lands have been utilized for the illegal construction of dozens of
Arab apartment buildings, a refugee camp and a U.N. school.
A previous WND tour of Qalandiya and Kfar Akeb found dozens of Arab apartment
complexes, a Palestinian refugee camp and a U.N. school for Palestinians
constructed on the land.
According to officials in Israel's Housing Ministry, Arabs first constructed
facilities illegally in Qalandiya and Kfar Akeb between 1948 and 1967, prior to
the 1967 Six-Day War during which Israel retook control of the entire city of
Jerusalem.
Qalandiya, still owned by JNF, came under the management of the Israeli
government's Land Authority in the late 1960s.
Israeli Housing Ministry officials say the bulk of illegal Arab construction in
Qalandiya occurred in the past 20 years, with construction of several new Arab
apartment complexes taking place in just the past two years.
Neither the Israeli government nor JNF took any concrete measures to stop the
illegal building, which continues today with at least one apartment complex in
Qalandiya under construction.
Land in another Jerusalem' neighborhood, Shoafat, which has an estimated value
of $3 million, was also purchased by JNF in the early 1900s and fell under the
management of the Israel Land Authority about 40 years ago. Much of the illegal
Arab construction in Shoafat took place in the past 15 years, with some
apartment complexes built as late as 2004.
In Qalandiya and Shoafat, Israel's security fence cordons off the Arab sections
of the JNF lands from the rest of Jewish Jerusalem.
Internal JNF documents obtained by WND outline illegal Arab construction on the
Jewish-owned land. A December 2000 survey of Qalandiya summarized on JNF
stationery and signed by a JNF worker states, "In a lot of the plots I find
Arabs are living and building illegally and also working the JNF land without
permission."
The JNF survey goes on to document illegal construction of Arab apartment
complexes and the U.N. school under the property management of Israel's Land
Authority.
IDF warns of wave of violence as Hamas vows to sink peace talks - By Anshel Pfeffer – www.haartez.com
Army and police on high alert after second West Bank shooting in two days mars opening of Israel-PA talks in Washington; Hamas promises more attacks.
The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday warned of a possible wave of attacks as Hamas militants try to sabotage Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, which formally opened in Washington on Wednesday.
The warning follows two drive-by shootings on Israeli targets in the West Bank this week, which killed four Israeli civilians and wounded two more. Hamas militants claimed responsibility for both attacks.
"There may be more attacks," Brig. Gen Nitzan Alon told Army Radio. "The capability exists on the ground."
Alon said the military had received no specific intelligence about the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday – but that the army had expected attempts to disrupt the talks.
"We knew opposition elements like Hamas would try to carry out attacks to try and disrupt the diplomatic process," Alon said.
Hamas on Thursday vowed more violence: "Operations of resistance will continue and the measures by the occupation and Fatah will not block them," said Hamas
spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri.
Palestinian President Abbas was set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the State Department later on Thursday for the first direct peace talks for 20 months.
"Mahmoud Abbas does not have the right to speak for the Palestinians, nor to represent them and therefore, any results will not be binding on the Palestinian people," Zuhri said.
Israeli police were on high alert Thursday following the shootings and a police spokesman said additional security was being deployed in the West Bank in anticipation of a third attack.
Netanyahu, who has said repeatedly that Israel's security is his major concern in negotiations, vowed Wednesday that he would not allow the outbreak of violence to damage the talks with Abbas.
As preparations continued for the first head meeting between the two, the Palestinian Authority moved quickly to reassure Israel and reassert control in the West Bank, rounding up over 500 Hamas supporters.
Hamas opposes negotiations with Israel and has been at odds with Abbas' ruling Fatah faction since violently seizing the Gaza Strip from its Palestinian rival in 2007.
U.S. President Brack Obama, who has staked considerable political capital on the American-sponsored peace talks, on Wednesday night urged both sides not to be deterred by the attacks and seize an historic opportunity for compromise.
"This moment of opportunity may not soon come again," Obama said.
Hamas' new methods: Multiple small attacks by unknown imported terrorists – www.debka.com
Another drive-by shooting claimed by Hamas injured Moshe and Shira Morani from Maaleh Efraim at the Rimonim junction near Ramallah Wednesday night, Sept. 1. It was exactly the same as the attack which left four Israelis dead near Hebron Tuesday night - except that the couple saved their lives by fleeing their vehicle to a nearby wadi to escape a second round of point blank fire. When finally rescued, Moshe was in serious condition.
debkafile's counter-terror sources report that although the method of attack did not vary the two incidents were the work of different Hamas cells. Several of these cells are believed to be loose on the West Bank with instructions to accompany to keep up their terrorist attacks for as long as the Washington talks between Israeli and the Palestinians continue. Some of these death squads are expected to try and cross the Green Line from the West Bank and reach targets inside Israel.
According to our sources, the IDF and Israel's security services have no leads to the perpetrators of the two attacks or their dispatchers - because, they estimate, Hamas has imported terrorists from its ranks in Syria and Lebanon. These terrorists have no known ties to any Hamas branch. Neither are they listed by the Israeli and Palestinian security services. Each of these cells operates independently of the others.
So even if any of these terrorists are caught - or an individual is wounded and questioned, he will not be able to provide leads to the others.
For now, these imported terrorists are at large on West Bank roads, exploiting the removal of a great many Israeli security roadblocks and checkpoints in an effort to ease Palestinian movements. The only way to stall them, therefore, is to follow the advice of counter-terror experts and restore the roadblocks. Until this is done, Hamas will be free to strike at will and eventually take its terrorist campaign against the Washington talks into the Israeli heartland.
The problem is that Israel's leaders, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gaby Ashkenazi oppose reinstalling the checkpoints and roadblocks for as long as the US-sponsored talks with the Palestinians continue.
Hamas' tacticians are fully aware of Israel's diplomatic constraints and exploiting them to the full, ordering their terror squads to keep going in the hope of sabotaging the negotiations.
All this makes a mockery of Netanyahu's directive to the IDF and security services to hunt down and punish the perpetrators of the Hebron attack irrespective of diplomatic considerations. For as long as the IDF and Shin Bet are groping in the dark for leads to the assailants and are prevented from physically controlling the road movements of the drive-by shooters, diplomatic considerations are clearly trumping operational needs.
debkafile's sources report that no useful information was gleaned from the 250 Hamas operatives rounded up by the Palestinian security services after the Hebron shooting - most of them from Mt. Hebron villages and familiar faces to their interrogators.
One third had been recently released from Israeli or Palestinian jails; one third was made up of members of Hamas student's organizations and a final third consisted of activists in Hamas's various societies. None appeared to have any knowledge of the identities of the people running and executing the new wave of attacks.
Dr. Kedar Warns: Iran May Take Over Persian Gulf - by Eli Stutz - www.israelnationalnews.com
Dr. Mordechai Kedar, an expert on Arab politics and Islamic Fundamentalism at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies warns that Iran may be planning a full takeover of Persian Gulf states. He is also concerned that Hizbullah terrorists in Lebanon may try to build a nuclear reactor similar to Iran's Bushehr reactor, and obtain atomic weapons that could be used against Israel.
In a blog post which appeared on News1, Dr. Kedar says that there are several reasons that pressure is building between Iran and the Arab states in the Persian Gulf:
Firstly, Arab states in the Gulf believe that Iran's saber-rattling and aggressive statements towards Israel are actually a decoy, aimed at shifting the focus from its real purpose, a full takeover of the oil and gas-rich Persian Gulf. Kedar says that the Arab states remember Iran's takeover of three Persian Gulf islands, and also its claims that Bahrain belongs historically to Iran.
Secondly, Arab states assess that Israel and Iran will not attack each other, since each side is fearful of the outcome of such attack and its necessary counter-attack. Iran, says Kedar, knows that Israel has 200 - 300 nuclear warheads, which could wipe out all of its major cities. On the other hand, Israel, says Kedar, is concerned about the Iranian arsenal of long-range missiles in Hizbullah's possession, which are far more accurate that those the Hizbullah used in the 2006 attack against its southern neighbor.
Thirdly, in recent years, tens of thousands of Iranian citizens have immigrated to other Arab states in the Gulf. Kedar says that Arab leaders fear that many of these ex-Iranians are actually sleeper cells, who, when activated, could supply Iran with the necessary intelligence information to successfully stage an attack on Arab Gulf states. Kedar brings evidence that the Iranian sleeper cell concept has credence, citing the call of an Arab minority organization in Iran which called on Arabs in Gulf states to cooperate with their local authorities in order to expose Iranian sleeper cells in their countries. These words, says Kedar, came after several Iranian cells were in fact exposed in Kuwait, cells which planned to attack Kuwait's top military echelons in the event of a U.S. or Israeli attack on Iran. This led to the replacement of Iran's ambassador in Kuwait, says Kedar, who Kuwaiti authorities believed was the mastermind behind the sleeper cells. Kedar warns that even Israel should be wary of Iranian sleeper cells among its own foreign worker population.
Kedar adds that the purpose behind Iran's revealing of its new unmanned plane last week, was to warn Arab Gulf states not to dare help Israel or the U.S. in an attack on Iran, or to let Israeli or U.S. jets fly over their air space. Such an unmanned plane, says Kedar, could potentially enable Iran to hit any major target in the Gulf states, and Iran's message to those states is clear: "do not cooperate with an attack on us."
Finally, Kedar warned that the next dangerous threat against Israel could be a Hizbullah attempt to imitate Iran's nuclear ambitions, by building a nuclear reactor in Lebanon, similar to Iran's Bushehr reactor. Kedar says that Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah must be overjoyed that the Bushehr reactor went operational without being attacked by Israel or the U.S. and that this must encourage him to pursue the building of a similar reactor in Lebanon, purportedly under the guise of the need to generate electricity, but for the actual goal of building nuclear warheads for use against Israel.

Smoking the Mideast Peace Pipe in Washington - By Bill Salus – www.prophecynewsstand.blogspot.com

As Hurricane Earl barrels down on the East Coast reminding Americans God’s foreign policy of Genesis 12:3 is still effectually intact, smoke signals are hovering over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Several Mideast leaders have converged upon Washington to discuss the prospects of "Direct Talks" for peace. President Obama, who pollsters suggest may be losing Democratic control of the House and possibly the Senate come November, 2010, wants a signed peace – pact between Israel and the Palestinians.
Although this peace – pact concept hints of the biblical false covenant prophesied in Daniel 9:27, it presents different time tables that dismiss it from having prophetic implications. However, this round of peace talks may prove to be prophetically critical. Rumors of war in the Middle East have risen to an unprecedented level. One wrong move could send potent missiles flying in multiple directions.
President Obama has invited a cast of moderate leaders to encourage “Direct Talks” toward Middle East Peace. They include Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, former Prime Minister Tony Blair of the UK, King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, and President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas. Together they plan to construct a one to ten - year path to Mideast peace.
Although this is an interesting crew of leaders, what’s intriguing is the fact that Israel’s more threatening enemies aren’t participating. The leadership of Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Hezbollah, and Hamas, who have bonafide war pacts in place against Israel, are still up to their wartime antics back in the Holy Land. In fact Hamas, the democratically elected leadership of the Palestinians since January, 2006, has vowed to disrupt direct peace talks.
The primary prohibitive obstacles to this round of peace talks are:
1. they don’t include Israel’s primary enemies, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Lebanon and Hamas,
2. they won’t sufficiently address the religious ramifications of Jerusalem’s sovereignty,
3. they won’t resolve the resettlement crisis of the Palestinian Refugees,
4. they will require the forfeiture of Promised Land presently under Israeli control, a pivotal matter Israel will likely oppose, and
5. they don’t integrate the prophetic word of God.
The Bible prophetically addresses all of the above. Regarding Israel’s primary enemies, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Hezbollah, and Hamas, these nations and / or terrorist turned political organizations are involved in the end time wars of Ezekiel 38 & 39, Isaiah 17:1, and Psalm 83. Iran comes against Israel in Ezekiel 38, Syria is involved in Isaiah 17:1, and Syria, Lebanon, Hezbollah, and Hamas confederate against Israel in Psalm 83. At some point soon these wars will occur nullifying any present peace proposals attempting to further the Mideast peace process along.
Regarding Jerusalem, most Bible translations reference Jerusalem at least 764 times and in most cases promote it as the holy city of Israel. Daniel 9:24-27 calls it the holy city of the Jewish people and predicts a third Jewish Temple will someday be constructed there. That day appears to be near. Presently, temple instruments are being constructed, priests are being prepared, and blueprints are being drafted toward this end.
The Palestinian Refugee crisis exists in breach of God’s Roadmap Plan of Jeremiah 12:14-17. This plan required resettlement of the Arabs occupying Israel at the time of the worldwide regathering of the Jews in 1948 to present back into the ancient homelands of their ancestors. At the time the land was called Palestine and the Arabs dwelling there became refugees as the result of the Arab – Israeli War of Independence. Presently, there are millions of these refugees caught in the geopolitical crossfire between Israel and the bordering Arab States. Israel seeks their resettlement into the Arab States and the Arab States press for the refugee’s right to return into Israel proper.
The Promised Land matter dates back 4,000 years ago to Genesis 15:18. Land between the Nile River of Egypt and the Euphrates River of Iraq and Syria was promised to the Israeli patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. According to the Bible this is Jewish land. Additionally, scriptures in Jeremiah 49:1-2, Obadiah 1:19-20, and Isaiah 19:16-18 declare that Israel will capture portions of these lands that are presently possessed by Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Hamas, and the Palestinians. All of these are grouped together in the Arab confederacy of Psalm 83:6-8.
Most importantly, the prophetic word of God is not being considered amongst all the parties assembling in Washington. Apart from the slight possibility that Benjamin Netanyahu might have some basic biblical awareness of the prophetic brevity of the matter, it is highly doubtful that any of the other leaders, including Barack Obama and Tony Blair, have any wisdom regarding God’s foreign policy of Genesis 12:3 or any of the other biblical precepts above.
Genesis 12:3 teaches that Israel is to be blessed rather than cursed. It promises benevolence to the parties that bless Israel. Conversely, cursings await those who oppose or oppress biblical Israel. Forcing Israel to trade Promised Land inclusive of Jerusalem, for a prospective peace with the Palestinians, can in no way be construed as blessing the Jewish State. It proposes the shrinkage, rather than expansion, of the coming greater Israel foretold to come in the Bible. However, this does not rule out the possibility that a Mideast peace accord might be achieved, but it will be short lived. God has plans for those countries surrounding Israel who seek to eliminate (curse) the Jews, homestead the Holy Land, and control Jerusalem, and He will carry it out according to his timetable.
Ezekiel 28:24-26 declares that Mideast peace is achieved through a series of judgments forthcoming upon Israel’s neighboring enemies. These judgments employ military rather than political means to resolve the present conflict. I write about how these judgments are executed through the might of today’s Israeli Defense Forces in my book Isralestine, The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East.
Taking all the above into consideration, the present political attempts to craft a lasting peace between the Israelis and Palestinians are most likely doomed to fail. One has to wonder what the dignitaries are smoking in their peace pipe that causes them to think they can negotiate around Israel's primary enemies listed above. Thus, the Washington meeting will probably prove to be nothing more than a smoke screen. Mideast matters are rooted deep into the ideologies of Zionism and Palestinianism and there is no quick one to ten - year fix likely to resolve the present Arab – Israeli conflict.
The New Old World Order - Victor Davis Hanson – www.nationalreview.com
A global shift to past politics also signals a return to past solutions like free markets and strong borders.
The post–Cold War New World Order is rapidly breaking apart. Nations are returning to the ancient passions, rivalries, and differences of past centuries.
Take Europe. The decades-old vision of a united pan-continental Europe without borders is dissolving. The cradle-to-grave welfare dream proved too expensive for Europe’s shrinking and aging population.
Cultural, linguistic, and economic divides between Germany and Greece, or Holland and Bulgaria, remain too wide to be bridged by fumbling bureaucrats in Brussels. NATO has devolved into a euphemism for American expeditionary forces.
Nationalism is returning, based on stronger common ties of language, history, religion, and culture. We are even seeing the return of a two-century-old European “problem”: a powerful Germany that logically seeks greater political influence commensurate with its undeniable economic superiority.
The tired Israeli-Palestinian fight over the future of the West Bank is no longer the nexus of Middle East tensions. The Muslim Arab world is now more terrified by the re-emergence of a bloc of old familiar non-Arabic, Islamic fundamentalist rivals.
With nuclear weapons, theocratic Iran wants to offer strategic protection to radical allies such as Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas, and at the same time restore Persian glory. While diverse, this rogue bunch shares contempt for the squabbling Sunni Arab world of rich but defenseless Gulf petro-sheikdoms and geriatric state authoritarians.
Turkey is flipping back to its pre-20th-century past. Its departure from NATO is not a question of if, but when. The European Union used to not want Turkey; now Turkey does not want the shaky EU.
Turkish revisionism now glorifies the old Ottoman sultanate. Turkey wants to recharge that reactionary model as the unifier and protector of Islam — not the modern, vastly reduced secular state of Kemal Ataturk. Weak neighbors Armenia, Cyprus, Greece, and Kurdistan have historical reasons to tremble.
Japan’s economy is still stalled. Its affluent population is shrinking and aging. Elsewhere in the region, the Japanese see an expanding China and a lunatic nuclear North Korea. Yet Japan is not sure whether the inward-looking United States is still credible in its old promise of protection against any and all enemies.
One of two rather bleak Asian futures seems likely. Either an ascendant China will dictate the foreign policies of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, or lots of new freelancing nuclear powers will appear to deter China since it cannot count on an insolvent U.S. for protection.
Oil-rich Russia — deprived of its Communist-era empire — seems to find lost imperial prestige and influence by being for everything that the U.S. is against. That translates into selling nuclear expertise and material to Iran, providing weapons to provocative states such as Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela, and bullying neighbors over energy supplies.
Closer to home, Mexico has become a strange sort of friend. It devolves daily into a more corrupt and violent place than Iraq or Pakistan. The fossilized leadership in Mexico City shows no interest in reforming, either by opening its economy or liberalizing its political institutions.
Instead, Mexico’s very survival for now rests on cynically exporting annually a million of its impoverished and unhappy citizens to America. More interested in money than in its own people, the Mexican government counts on the more than $20 billion in remittances that return to the country each year.
But American citizens are tired of picking up the tab to subsidize nearly 15 million poor illegal aliens. The growing hostility between the two countries is reminiscent of 19th-century tensions across the Rio Grande.
How is America reacting to these back-to-the-future changes?
Politically divided, committed to two wars, in a deep recession, insolvent, and still stunned by the financial meltdown of 2008, our government seems paralyzed. As European socialism implodes, for some reason a new statist U.S. government wants to copy failure by taking over ever more of the economy and borrowing trillions more to provide additional entitlements.
As panicky old allies look for American protection, we talk of slashing our defense budget. In apologetic fashion, we spend more time appeasing confident enemies than buttressing worried friends.
Instead of finishing our border fence and closing the southern border, we are suing a state that is trying to enforce immigration laws that the federal government will not apply. And as sectarianism spreads abroad, we at home still pursue the failed salad bowl and caricature the once-successful American melting pot.
But just as old problems return, so do equally old solutions. Once-stodgy ideas like a free-market economy, strong defense, secure borders, and national unity are suddenly appearing fresh and wise.
Ground Zero Mosque countered with Ground Zero Christian Center – Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com
Bill Keller is this on fire-for-the-Lord internet evangelist who founded LivePrayer.com. I have known Bill for about five years and believe him to be a take-no-prisoners, Bible believing, Bible teaching man. He is not one to see a problem and cower away from it, he attacks it. He was criticized years ago for going on Howard Stern. But Bill handled Howard Stern and because of his appearances on Stern's show, literally thousands came to the Lord, recommitted their lives to the Lord and thanked Bill for being so bold as to bring Christ to Stern's airwaves. He has the emails and letters to prove it. Now Bill is off on another mission--to counter the Islamic Center and Mosque to be built near Ground Zero in New York.
Bill says, "How do you battle the darkness? With the LIGHT! I watched in disbelief a few weeks ago as they announced the Muslims would be building a $110 million mosque just a few blocks from where their Muslim brothers perpetrated the greatest act of terror on US soil in history, deliberately flying planes into the World Trade Center towers, knocking them down and killing 3,000 innocent souls in the process. The gall, the arrogance, the audacity of this false religion of violence, hate, and death to build their temple to satan just blocks from that hallowed ground." So Bill decided to do something about it.
Beginning this Sunday, September 5, he will begin having services at the "9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero." He will be holding services every Sunday at 11 am at the New York Marriott at 85 West Street--one block from ground zero. There will be services 7 days a week and a "9-11 Memorial Prayer Room" for those who visit Ground Zero and want to stop and pray. Bill says, "The mission is simple. Have a place at ground zero where people can come to hear the real uncompromised Truth right from God's Word, and find the only true hope there is, faith in Jesus Christ!!!" He said he is not starting just another church--services will be like the soul winning "old time evangelistic meetings."
The opposition to this new church is tremendous. Bill wrote in his daily email that "every left leaning website has been covering our opening. It is amazing how they all could not wait to support the victory mosque, but have gone after me with a vengeance, calling me every horrible name you could think of in the process." But these attempts to discourage only make Bill Keller more determined. He says, "I have a secret to share with you today. The people in this world are looking for hope." The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:21, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." This is an example of how we as Christians can change the world if we are obedient to the Lord.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Sovereignty of God – Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org
Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, "Why have you made me like this?"
— Romans 9:20
There was a sense that something big was about to happen on the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. The crowds thought "the Kingdom of God would begin right away" (Luke 19:11). Scripture does teach the Messiah will come and establish His kingdom on earth. That is still in our future. But Scripture also teaches, in places like Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53, that the Messiah first would come and suffer and die for the sins of the world. Yet that concept was largely lost on the people of this day.
They wanted Jesus as their king—as long as it was on their terms. They wanted a deliverer and a Messiah that would conform to their plan—instead of theirs to His. They wanted Jesus to destroy Rome—not their cherished sins or their hypocritical, superficial religion.
There are people like this today. They will sing the praises of a Jesus who will give them wealth, success, and personal happiness. But they recoil from the idea of a God who would ask for obedience, commitment, and sacrifice. They like God as long as He fits into their plans. But the moment He does something they don't like, they get mad at Him. It is okay to say we don't understand God. It is okay to ask God, "Why?" But we have no right to be angry with Him. And it is ridiculous for us to say that we are. Who are we to argue with God?
As Chuck Swindoll says, "God is able to do what He pleases with whomever He chooses whenever He wishes." This is called the sovereignty of God. We don't always like it, because it is not what we want. But God can do what He wants when He wants to do it.

“Folks, it's all beginning to unravel. America is in more danger of falling than at any time in its history. But I believe Bible prophecy predicts this very decline. From this point on, we believers have to get serious. We are going to face discouragement, disillusionment and, most certainly, persecution in the time between now and the Rapture. But don't be discouraged or disillusioned. The coming turmoil will provide us unrivaled opportunities to share the good news of the Gospel. So be ready to share your faith and your hope with those who need Christ. We still have time to reap a great harvest of souls for God's kingdom!” – Hal Lindsey

Regarding the Times and Seasons - By Gene Lawley – www.raptureready.com
It is interesting to think about the very last question the disciples asked Jesus just before He ascended into the heavens to reign at the right hand of God the Father, as intercessory Savior on behalf of all true believers on earth.
Acts 1:6-8 tells the story: “Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, ‘Lord, will you at this time restore the nation to Israel’? And He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria, , and to the end of the earth.’”
He had told them earlier, as John 14:17 reports it, speaking of the Holy Spirit, “…for He dwells with you [now] but will be in you”. With that incident at Pentecost, the Lord then launched His new plan wherein blindness, in part, came upon Israel (Romans 11:25) and God set about “taking out of the Gentiles “a people for His name” (Acts 15:14). And here we see the beginning of the dispensation of grace, in which a special category of believers will come into the family of God. These will be all the believers who will experience the rapture, for it will include, first, the dead in Christ, and then we who are alive and remain, to be taken into the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (I Thessalonians 4:16-17). This is the church, the Bride of Christ.
Those disciples, Jews for the most part, were very nation-conscious, for they had been under the rule of the Romans for quite some time, and were looking for a way out, yet the Lord had other plans. We have seen, now, the times and seasons to which Jesus referred, in the restoration of nation status to Israel and restored them to their land…somewhat…in 1948, just as the prophets have told us, over and over again.
Fast-Forward to Current Events
Do we see a parallel to that picture in the current struggle here in America, in which a strong element of national patriotic spirit has been developing, in the face of rapidly degenerating national sovereignty and economic stamina, that vows to “return the nation to the principles of its founding fathers”? But, does God actually have another plan, as He did in that situation so long ago? Is the age of grace coming to an end? The next era, according to the projections of the Bible, will be the final, 70th week of Daniel’s vision, which starts when those “people for his name” from the Gentiles are “taken out” in the rapture. The era of judgment begins. Is this the time and season for that to fall into place in the sequence of events?
The picture is not pretty, for the signs of the times are no longer isolated flares of meaningful end-time prophecy fulfillments, but they are coming in a rapid-fire, machine-gun-staccato manner. Jesus said, in Luke 21:28, “Now when you see these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near”. Paul writes in I Thessalonians 5:1-2, “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you, for you, yourselves, know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night”. Looking at the inter-related events and prophecies, I am not so sure that we do “know perfectly” when the day of the Lord will commence, but it is certain to be close on the horizon.
What Is the Game Plan Now?
Are America’s patriots wasting their time, then? From a Christian standpoint, no, of course not. Believers are commanded to “occupy until He comes” (Luke 19:13), and they are identified as those who “restrain” the forces of evil (II Thessalonians 2:6-7). The Great Commission is still in place, and II Chronicles 7:14 is still a viable, conditional promise, too: “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land”. As it was in the hearts of those early disciples, however, it does appear that the longing for a restoration of our nation to that of the “good old days” likely will not be fulfilled.
