What a day in God’s land. In case you missed it, the Iranian regime directly attacked Israel, launching some 181 ballistic missiles at the world’s one and only Jewish state. It’s being said that this is the largest ballistic missile attack ever in world history. You might hearken back to the April 2024 attack that Iran conducted against Israel, during which over 300 projectiles were fired, and wonder why today is considered “unprecedented.” However, that barrage consisted of a mixture of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. Today’s attack was strictly 181 ballistic missiles that blanketed every inch of Israel. Although it had fewer projectiles, the attack consisted of more lethal weapons. They also travel at a much greater distance. A few of my colleagues were surprised at the speed of this attack. If you remember, the April 13th attack by Iran involved waiting hours for some of these cruise missiles and drones to reach from Iran to Israel. It was a slow-moving train, and most of them were intercepted before they even entered Israeli airspace. In fact, some 99% were intercepted, in a miraculous display of missile defense. Ballistic missiles travel in roughly twelve minutes. That’s all, folks. Twelve minutes is all you have to prepare when ballistic missiles travel from Iran to Israel. While the numbers are still coming in, we do know that not every one of today’s ballistic missiles were intercepted. At least eight or nine got through certainly; many fell in open spaces. The United States says that they helped Israel, as they did in April, intercept these incoming ballistic missiles. That’s a good thing, but don’t expect anything more than a defensive posture from the United States under the current leadership—or lack thereof. There will be every effort, prepare yourselves, for the Biden-Harris Administration to attempt to restrain Israel at every turn. In April, when those missiles were intercepted, Joe Biden told Benjamin Netanyahu to just take the win and not strike back. Undoubtedly, that is the message from the Biden Administration once again. According to the White House, Biden and Harris were in the Situation Room monitoring the unfolding attack in real time. Currently, the Iranian regime says the attack is over, and Israeli officials have given the okay for the people of Israel to leave their bomb shelters. That being said, five hours from now, you may have a case, God forbid, where Iran fires another wave. Not long from now, we may also see Israel in the midst of responding to this unprecedented Iranian assault. Iran says their blood lust is satisfied, touting Tuesday’s assault as retaliation for the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh back on August 1st, who was eliminated under the noses of the Iranian regime in Tehran, and the death of the not-so-dearly departed terror master Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s overall leader, on Friday, September 27th. Let’s also not forget the subsequent smashing of Hezbollah and Hamas being largely crushed. Iran felt like it had to save face and do something. It does not appear that any Israelis were killed, thank God, in the attack. It does appear some were wounded running to bomb shelters, perhaps by shrapnel. A Palestinian man in Jericho sadly appears to have been killed, just as an Arab Bedouin girl was wounded in April. Although Iran hates the Jewish people, they don’t discriminate when it comes to killing and maiming across the board. The Iranian regime will fight to the last drop of Arab blood. What do I mean by that? The Iranians are not Arab. Some Arabs live in Iran, but the vast majority are Persian. Iran has no compunction in using Arab Hamas, Arab Hezbollah, Arab Houthis, and Arab Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria as cannon fodder. Fasten your seat belts because IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that Israel is to be striking tonight throughout the Middle East, adding “We will act at the place and time of our choosing, in accordance with the guidance of the political echelon—tonight’s event will have consequences.” At the end of the day, we can talk about the natural and the physical, but at its root, this is a spiritual battle, and this Iranian ring of fire is demonic. It’s actually a demonic death cult. Evil is arrogant, and evil can be quite stupid. On October 7th and 8th—when Hamas carried out its massacre invasion, and Hezbollah began unilaterally firing rockets at Israel—those two terror organizations, in their arrogance, signed their own death warrants. Keep this all in prayer, folks. You live in Bible times. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for a Divine iron dome over Israel right now. Israeli troops have entered southern Lebanon, Iran has fired hundreds of missiles into the land of Israel, and it appears that all-out war has arrived. This war doesn’t seem to have a commonly accepted name yet, and so I am just going to start calling it “the Biggest Middle East War” until somebody out there comes up with something better. Is it just a coincidence that this war has suddenly exploded as the “Comet of the Century” is flying past our planet? I went through the details of Iran’s attack on Israel in an article that I posted earlier, and so I will not repeat all of that information here. Since I posted that article, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly stated that Iran has “made a big mistake” and that the Iranians “will pay” for what they have done… “Iran made a big mistake tonight – and it will pay for it. The regime in Iran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies,” he said. That sounds rather ominous. So what should we expect? Well, one Israeli news source is reporting that the IDF intends to conduct “powerful airstrikes throughout the Middle East”… Following Iran’s missile barrage, which saw more than 180 rockets launched across Israel, the IDF vowed Tuesday night to carry out “powerful airstrikes throughout the Middle East.” The military confirmed that the Air Force remains fully operational. Additionally, Israeli and U.S. defense systems effectively intercepted many of the incoming missiles, with the IDF reporting close cooperation in detection and interception efforts. Senior Israeli officials vowed Tuesday evening that Jerusalem will not remain silent following Iran’s large-scale missile attack. A defense official promised a “severe response,” while another Israeli official warned, “What Iran has suffered so far is only a fraction of what it will face now.” Of course the IDF has already been bombing pro-Iranian targets all over the Middle East. Ultimately, I expect something even more dramatic. Could Israel strike Iran itself? That is certainly possible. Naftali Bennett is even suggesting that this is a perfect time to “destroy Iran’s nuclear program”… With emphasis added, former prime minister Naftali Bennett calls for Israel to act “now” against Iran’s nuclear program, saying the Islamic Republic “made a terrible mistake” with its major missile attack this evening. “Israel has now its greatest opportunity in 50 years, to change the face of the Middle East,” Bennett writes in an English-language post on X. “We must act *now* to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, its central energy facilities, and to fatally cripple this terrorist regime.” Such an attack would definitely trigger an unstoppable chain of events. Iran has warned that there will be a “crushing attack” if Israel responds, and the Iranians also seem to be threatening the United States… Iran’s armed forces warn against any direct military intervention in support of Israel in response to Iran’s missile attack. “In the event of direct intervention by countries supporting the regime [Israel]… their centers and interests in the region will also face a powerful attack by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the armed forces says in a statement quoted by Fars news agency. The Biden administration promised Iran that there would be “severe consequences” if the Iranians launched missiles at Israel. It is put up or shut up time for the Biden administration. As all of this has been going on, the “Comet of the Century” has been putting on a spectacular show in the heavens… Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is putting on a delightful early-morning display for those fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the spectacle before it’s lost in the glare of the rising sun. But it’s not just the early birds with good seats to the show: astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) are also enjoying the spectacle. We are being told that there will be two windows for those of us in the northern hemisphere to view this comet… Weather permitting, everyone in the Northern Hemisphere should be able to see Comet A3 in October. There are two windows to catch it, one from now through October 2 and another from October 12 to 30, according to a press release from Massey. Interestingly, the first window ends as the festival of Rosh Hashanah is beginning, and the second window starts on Yom Kippur. And it is now being projected that Yom Kippur will be the time when this comet is the closest to our planet and when it will also be the brightest… If the comet survives perihelion, it will make its way back to Earth. According to StarWalk.space, the comet will be brightest on October 12 when it makes its closest approach to our plant. During this time, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS will be located relatively high above the horizon in the evening sky. That is some “coincidence”, eh? On top of everything else, a “ring of fire” solar eclipse will occur on Wednesday… For the first time since April’s solar eclipse—during which eleven contiguous states in the U.S. were in the path of totality—some will be able to see another eclipse this coming week. This noteworthy event, called an annular eclipse, or a “ring of fire” eclipse, will be visible over parts of South America on Wednesday, Oct. 2. A partial eclipse will also be visible in parts of the world. At the time of this eclipse, the sun will already be down in Israel and the festival of Rosh Hashanah will have commenced. Amazingly, the first solar eclipse that occurred in 2024 happened on the first day of the first month on the Biblical calendar, and the second solar eclipse that will occur in 2024 will happen on the first day of the seventh month on the Biblical calendar. These two solar eclipses will be exactly six months apart on the Biblical calendar, and they both fall on very important dates. The fall festivals begin on the first day of the seventh month, and throughout the fall festivals the “Comet of the Century” will be making history in the skies above our heads. Meanwhile, here on Earth everyone is bracing for what comes next in the Middle East. I do not believe that it is a coincidence that all-out war, the “Comet of the Century”, a “ring of fire” solar eclipse and the fall festivals are all happening at the same time. Just As Ezekiel Predicted - Iran's Newest Proxy Is Sudan - By PNW Staff - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=7371 Bible prophecy tells us that in the "latter days," a group of nations will form a massive military coalition and invade Israel. These attackers will come "out of the uttermost parts of the north," and there will be so many that God says they will be "like a cloud covering the land" (Ezekiel 38:15-16). The strike force will be so overwhelming that is seems Israel will have no chance of survival. The major events happening right in the Middle East indicate some serious stage-setting is taking place for this war. A careful study of the ancient place names listed in Ezekiel 38:2-6 reveals the military coalition will include Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya (and possibly Algeria and Tunisia), Sudan and parts of Ethiopia, and the territories in the southern part of Russia that were formerly part of the Soviet Union, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and northern Afghanistan. We have already seen the binding of ties between Russia, Iran and Turkey over the past several years (despite Turkey being part of NATO). Just today Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel's ground operation in Lebanon and urged the United Nations and other international organizations to stop Israel without "wasting any more time". "Whatever it does, Israel will be stopped sooner or later," Erdogan told the Turkish parliament. Now we are seeing developments that will bring more nations under the influence of Iran in it's conflict with Israel. Iran, having just had two of its major proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, seriously degraded, is setting its sights on a new, "consolation prize" proxy to use as an additional base of operations: Sudan. Iran has, for a while, been trying to establish a port in Sudan's major coastal city, Port Sudan. Iran's strategy of supporting and infiltrating other countries and terrorist groups -- as it has done in Iraq, Syria, Gaza, Lebanon, Venezuela and Yemen -- appears as yet another extension of its strategy of moving into territories with weak or unstable governments to expand its influence throughout the Middle East, to create new fronts for its campaign to destroy Israel and bring down the world order led by the West. A major port and foothold in Sudan will enable Iran to accomplish two of its goals: to continue encircling Israel in a "ring of fire" by opening yet another front from which to attack the small Jewish nation from the southwest, and to further control all international shipping in the Red Sea. Currently, most ships, unable to buy insurance thanks to the massive disruption created by Iran's proxy, the Houthis, are forced to go around the entire continent of Africa rather than speed through the Suez Canal. This detour costs every vessel up to an additional $800,000 for each trip. Commercial traffic in the Red Sea is consequently down by nearly 80%. Recently, Iran's wealthy private militia, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), formed a close relationship with General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). For more than a year, it has been engaged in fighting the paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), headed by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commonly known as Hemedti. In 2019, the two generals had worked together to stage a coup, but 17 months ago, started fighting each other. Last week, the SAF began trying to retake the Sudanese capital city, Khartoum. In August 2024, peace talks were called, aimed at ending the civil war between the SAF and he RSF. US Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello wrote on X that delegations from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), African Union, United Nations and Egypt convened in Geneva for talks facilitated by the United States. US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield hailed the fresh round of negotiations as an important step to end the bloody war. The Sudanese Armed Forces, led Al-Burhan, however, although invited, was not represented. "We will not go to Geneva," Al-Burhan told reporters in Port Sudan at the time; "we will fight for 100 years." In the meantime, the IRGC, while working to establish a naval base in Port Sudan, has been providing SAF with drones and advanced military equipment. This support positions Sudan as a possible new base of operations for Iran against Israel. Iran's strategy of embedding itself within weak or unstable nations, such as Sudan, seems a clear attempt to duplicate its proliferation of proxy states, expand its reach, and create new fronts in its global against the West. Seeing Through a Glass, Darkly – Jack Kinsella - https://www.rev310.net/post/seeing-through-a-glass-darkly ”And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.” (Isaiah 2:2-4) We discussed the four rational creations of God in the last briefing, but, judging from some of your comments, I didn’t do such a bang-up job of explaining it all. I will try and clarify the murky spots. Some of you questioned the application of the word ‘creation’ to describe them. Nobody disputes the fact that the angels were created, or man. One member argues that Jews were not ‘created’ separately, but were selected from an already living group. Jewishness is both a spiritual and a physical manifestation, neither of which existed until God created it out by an act of His own will. Abraham was chosen out of the land of Ur to be the father of a great nation. Abraham decided that, given his age and that of Sarah’s, that he would father this great nation through Sarah’s Egyptian slave, Hagar. But God said that HE would create a great nation: “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:” (Genesis 12:2) It was by the sovereign act of God that Sarah conceived, it was the sovereign choice of God that the Abrahamic covenant would flow through the descendants of Isaac, and it was by Divine decree that his descendants would be a peculiar people, unique from all the rest of humanity. The Abrahamic covenant resulted in a new spiritual creature, not Gentile nor angel, but children of the Promise. The Jews are genetically unique; the priestly caste of Cohanin bears the unique genetic signature of Aaron, enabling the modern Jews to positively identify the hereditary priests that are necessary to the restoration of Temple worship. Abraham didn’t make his descendants the children of the Promise. God did, by an act of His sovereign will. Until the creation of the Jews, there were just two spiritual creations — angels and Gentile descendants of Adam. That is the operative phrase here; ‘SPIRITUAL creation’. Let’s define ‘creation’ for the sake of clarification as that which comes into being by the sovereign will of God. By an act of His sovereign will, God introduced a third spiritual creation, one that had not previously existed. Jews are not Jews by choice, they are born Jews. A Buddhist Jew is still a Jew. No matter what religion a Jew practices — or none at all — the Jew is still a Child of the Promise and has a unique spiritual standing before God. It isn’t a question of attitude or whether or not the Jew has a ‘right relationship’ toward God. I don’t know exactly how God accomplishes His plan for the Children of the Promise, but I trust the Bible. “And so ALL Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:” (Romans 11:26) Angels were created with spiritual attributes unique to angels. Man was created with his own unique spiritual attributes. He became a Gentile, separated from God, with Adam’s fall. Out of Gentile spiritual humanity, God created a third unique spiritual being, the Jew, and endowed him with spiritual attributes unique from other men. The fourth spiritual creation is the Christian. This spiritual creation also comes into existence as the consequence of a sovereign act of God. This spiritual creature, like angels, Jews, and Gentiles, has an eternal component, but unlike the Jews and the Gentiles, it is a new form of spiritual creation. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2nd Corinthians 5:17) No matter how hard he tries, a Jew cannot become a Gentile by an act of his own will. No matter what religion he practices, (or even no religion at all), he will always be a Jew. I was born an Irish Catholic. But no matter what religion I practice, Catholicism, Christianity, Buddhism, or Hindu, I will always be Irish. But, uniquely, only the Jew who becomes a Christian is no longer a Jew. By becoming a Christian, a Jew isn’t even a Jew to other Jews. Even Israel recognizes that he becomes a ‘new creature’ in Christ and often revokes or refuses Israeli citizenship to Messianic Jews. Equally uniquely, a Christian can never become a Gentile. Spiritually, he is already a ‘new creature’. His transformation is accomplished by the sovereign act of God of forgiveness by grace through faith. A Gentile can become a Jew, or he can become a Christian. Reversing the process by an act of man’s will is impossible since the process itself is accomplished by God, and “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” (Romans 11:29) The second question revolves around the continued existence of the Gentiles in the Millennial Kingdom. More than a few of you questioned that. We opened this briefing with Isaiah 2:4, which speaks of the ‘nations’ that will “go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob.” Note that this is what a Gentile would say, not a Jew. Isaiah also says He will judge between the ‘nations’ [more than one] and will settle disputes for ‘many peoples’. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, “nor will they train for war anymore.” Israel is but ONE nation. The Church is raptured and has received their translated bodies. The only possible explanation for the ‘nations’ is that they are Gentile nations. Will there be Gentile survivors of the Tribulation Period who enter into the Millennial Kingdom AS Gentiles? “And it shall come to pass, that everyone that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.” (Zechariah 14:16) “And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth His sheep from the goats: And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.” (Matthew 25:32-33) Jesus is speaking of the destiny of nations, not individuals. “Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:” (Matthew 25:34-35) The sheep and goat nations will be judged as either worthy to enter the Millennial Kingdom or unworthy, based on how each nation treated Israel. They are Gentile nations, neither Jew nor Christian. Christianity, as we understand it, ends with the conclusion of the Church Age. When the ‘elect company’ being called out of the world as the Bride of Christ reaches its complete number, the Rapture takes place, followed by the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. There are tribulation saints, but those saints are not saved according to the Dispensation of Grace but rather are saved according to the Dispensation of the Law. Tribulation saints, [with the exception of the 144,000 of Revelation 7] are NOT sealed ‘with the Holy Spirit of Promise’ (Ephesians 1:13) — since the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is unique to the Church Age. If all Tribulation believers are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, like the new creatures of the Church Age, there would be little point in devoting an entire chapter to describing the ‘sealing’ of the 144,000 Jews during the Tribulation. The Tribulation saints are NOT ‘new creatures’ transformed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but remain Gentiles, saved the same way the Jewish saints of the Old Testament were – by being declared judicially righteous by God. The Bible indicates that judicial declaration of righteousness is directly related to their treatment of the nation of Israel. It also says that the Gentile nations who enter the Millennial Kingdom will serve Israel. Melchizedek, king of Salem, was a Gentile, but the Bible calls him the ‘priest of the most high God’ for siding with Abraham against the King of Sodom and bringing Abraham bread and wine. (Genesis 14:18). I realize a lot of this challenges what is taught today, mainly because of a fundamental misunderstanding of Dispensational truth. Dispensationalism holds that, during different periods throughout history, God dealt with man’s salvation in different ways. He walked with Adam ‘in the cool of the garden’ during the Age of Innocence. After the Fall, but before the Flood, God allowed man to pretty much govern according to his own will in what is called the ‘Age of Conscience’. After the Flood, God dealt with individuals one-on-one as he did from Noah until Moses. When Moses received the Law, it introduced a new Dispensation in which God dealt with His people judicially in a corporate, rather than individual manner, setting up Judges over Israel to rule according to Divine Decree. After the Jews failed miserably at keeping the Law, Jesus introduced a new Dispensation, the Age of Grace. The Age of Grace concludes with the Rapture of the Church and the withdrawal of the Restrainer. (2nd Thessalonians 2:7) There is yet a final seven-year period for the Age of the Law, during which God pours out His wrath against unbelieving Jews and Gentiles, called the ‘Time of Jacob’s Trouble’. Then there is the final Dispensation, the Millennial Kingdom, in which Jews and righteous Gentiles will live under the direct reign of Jesus Christ from Jerusalem for a thousand-year period. Assessment: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2nd Timothy 2:15) ‘Rightly dividing the word of truth’ means that there IS a division in the word of truth. It means one cannot apply the tenets of the Age of Law to the Church Age and get any understanding of salvation by grace through faith. One cannot apply the tenets of the Church Age to the Tribulation Period and get any clear understanding of how the Tribulation saints can be saved, or how they could later subsequently be lost by accepting the Mark of the Beast. During the Church Age, the saints cannot be overcome by Satan — “resist the devil, and he will flee from you” does not apply in some metaphysical sense that eventually, we will die and be outside Satan’s power. In the Church Age, it means what it says. The devil cannot stand before an indwelt believer who pleads the Blood of Christ. But during the Tribulation, “it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to OVERCOME them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” (Revelation 13:7) Without an understanding of the division in the Word, that would appear to be a contradiction. The power ‘to overcome them doesn’t mean he has the power to kill them. Satan has ALWAYS had that power. Over the course of human history, he has killed uncounted billions through sin. But during the Church Age, believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, Whose ministry is to guide the Church in all truth. During the Tribulation, the antichrist will be able to deceive ‘even the very elect’ and any, Jew, Gentile or Tribulation saint, who accepts his mark will be forever damned. ” . . .and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:4) Those who worship the beast and receive his mark are not among that company. Where, under the Dispensation of the Law, God says, ‘an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth’; under the Dispensation of the Age of Grace, Jesus says, ‘turn the other cheek’. Were it not for the understanding of Dispensationalism, one could argue that Scripture contradicts itself. But unregenerate Gentiles are sinners. How can they enter the Millennial Kingdom? David sinned. Noah sinned. Abraham sinned. But note that, “Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness. . .” (James 2:23) It is a difficult study since the Bible doesn’t say that much about the Gentiles of the Millennial Kingdom, other than they will live in a restored ecology, will enjoy lifespans similar to those before the Flood, and that they will eventually be deceived one last time by Satan and will make war against God. The first six Dispensations are outlined in great detail, where we are only given a shadowy look at the Millennial Kingdom. The Millennial Kingdom will be administered directly by Christ from earth. There is no real need for detail. When the time comes, those alive then can enquire directly of Him. Let us not forget that ever since that day of “disengagement” in August 2005, missiles rained down on Israeli citizens’ schools, homes and neighborhoods. It is unforgettable that billions of dollars in humanitarian aid to Hamas-controlled Gaza from the US, the European Union and others were and are diverted to pay for tunnels under schools, hospitals, and UN facilities, and funded missiles and weapons to kill the hated Jews. Billions from the Biden-Harris regime replenished money to Hamas and Iran that President Donald Trump ended during his term. The result was the October 7 attack on Israeli citizens and the current ongoing defense by Israel against Hamas. Moreover, it is part and parcel to the most aggressive terrorism fomented by Iran through its many terrorist proxies, notably Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel. This is not a coincidence. The Islamic war of extermination by sworn enemies of Israel and Jews is raging as it never before has during this century. Let us not forget either that the bolstering of Obama foreign policy of the Muslim Brotherhood through Arab Spring set the stage for the current hostilities toward Israel. Now comes Kamala Harris with her version of Middle East peace. During the infamous “Cat Lady” debate, Harris said that she would “work around the clock” for a two-state solution, adding as a “by the way” comment, Israel has a right to defend itself. In her New Way Forward campaign theme, she is telling the world it’s back to reestablishing a terrorist state that is dedicated to the elimination of Jews and Israel. Psalm 17:8,9 pleads to the LORD, “Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.” Modern politicians, employing their misguided and failed concepts, are brokers of war. I thought I was being sneaky, but my sin was discovered. My stepfather Oscar took me to a local jail to “scare me straight.” The problem was, through the eyes of a child, jail seemed pretty cool to me. So that didn’t go as planned. Thankfully, I didn’t pursue a life of crime. But I realized that secret sins don’t always stay secret. “Your sin will find you out” may be the oldest lesson in human history. Adam and Eve learned it when God asked them, “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?” (Genesis 3:11 NLT). The warnings are clear in God’s Word. So why is it tempting to try to hide certain sins instead of confessing them? Fear is one factor. We’re afraid to face the truth of our “dark side.” We worry that our reputation—or self-image—would suffer if our secret sins were revealed. Or we convince ourselves that our secret sins aren’t serious enough to do any harm. As long as no one else knows about them, no one gets hurt, right? The reality is that secret sins do tremendous damage. Maybe no one else knows about them—but we do. We know they’re wrong. And if we know they’re wrong, that means we’re experiencing guilt at some level. The Holy Spirit, who lives in us, works through our conscience to help us understand the seriousness of what we’re doing. We ignore His work at our own peril. Guilt doesn’t go away on its own. And it can’t continue to build indefinitely. If we don’t address it, it will find an outlet—often one that undoes all our careful work to keep our sins secret. Secret sins create distance between us and God because they’re committed in darkness, figuratively speaking. We go to great lengths to make sure that no one can connect us to them. In contrast, “God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all” (1 John 1:5 NLT). We can’t embrace sin and God at the same time. If we become too comfortable in darkness, we start to avoid God’s light. Secret sins are illusions. Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable” (NLT). We may hide the truth from others, and maybe even ourselves, but God sees everything. And His opinion is the only one that truly matters. Secret sins keep us from reaching our true potential as disciples. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us” (NLT). Secret sins are the weights we refuse to strip off. No matter how hard we try to navigate the course that God has laid out for us, our secret sins cause us to stumble. We can’t achieve our personal best until we remove those hidden sins by confessing them to God.
