What a violent culture we live in today. Violent crime is sweeping the country. We’re afraid to go out on the streets at night. Jesus said that things would be increasingly wicked in the last days, and the climate of the time prior to His return would be similar to the climate of the time during Noah’s life. So what was it like in Noah’s time? Are there any distinguishing characteristics that parallel our own? In Noah’s day two sins predominated: excessive violence and sexual perversion. Genesis 6:5, speaking of Noah’s time, says, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” There were other characteristics of Noah’s day as well. Jesus said, “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:38–39). We might paraphrase this statement by saying it was business as usual. Noah was building a massive ark without a body of water nearby. There hadn’t even been rain on earth at that point. But Noah faithfully followed the directions God had given him. And as the years went by, he kept on with the job God called him to. No doubt people thought of Noah as some sort of crackpot. Jesus was saying that in the last days, people also will ignore prophetic warnings. They’ll disregard the clear message of God to them. For the most part it will be business as usual. People will go on with their day-to-day activities. What It All Means However, the writing is on the wall for anyone who will pay attention. And just as Noah was mocked, followers of Jesus will be mocked as well, because that, too, is a sign of the last days. People today laugh at the concept of Bible prophecy and the return of Christ, but one day their mockery will cease and their laughter will stop when Jesus fulfills His words. He is coming back. The apostle Paul, writing about the first arrival of Jesus Christ to this Earth, said, “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons” (Galatians 4:4–5). And again when the time comes, Christ will return. Peter wrote: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:8–9). According to Scripture, there is a generation that will not see death. Instead they will be removed from the face of the earth in what is known as the rapture of the church. This is what Jesus was referring to when He said: “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left” (Matthew 24:40–41). Instantaneously millions of believers from around the globe will be caught up into God’s presence. This is spoken of elsewhere in the Bible as well. Paul wrote: “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:51–52). And John wrote: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2). A Happy Anticipation Christ is coming for His church, and He said: “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:2–3). In the original language, the phrase “come and get you” implies seizing by force. That is exactly what Jesus will do. He will return and take His people into His presence. Are you ready for His return? Are you looking for it? It means being ready to meet Him. It means living in anticipation of the return of Christ. To put it another way, it means that you shouldn’t be doing things that would hinder your spiritual life. The teaching of the return of Christ should serve as a motivator, as a comfort to you. As John said, “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” (1 John 3:3). A. B. Simpson pointed out: “There are two ways of looking at the Lord’s coming: a looking for it and looking at it. It is possible to look at it with keen intellect and a profound interest, and yet have it mean nothing to us personally. It is also possible to know but little of the theology of the subject, and yet have a deep and holy longing for the Lord to appear. May this theme be not only our study but also our personal hope.” It isn’t just intellectually saying, “I know Christ will come again.” Rather, it’s looking for and welcoming His return. And if there’s anything in our lives that should be changed, anything that is not right with God, we should deal with it now. The Russians can talk about nuclear war until they are blue in the face, but nothing that they say is going to sink in, because our leaders simply do not care. They are entirely convinced that the Russians will never use nuclear weapons, and so they are not afraid to keep pushing the Russians closer to a breaking point. When the Russians finally reach their breaking point, what will they do? Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has been playing this game for decades, and he always chooses his words very carefully. So when he publicly brings up the possibility of nuclear war, that is a really big deal. The following comes from an article that was posted on Yahoo News entitled “Russia warns the United States of the risks of World War Three”… “We are now confirming once again that playing with fire – and they are like small children playing with matches – is a very dangerous thing for grown-up uncles and aunts who are entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or another Western country,” Lavrov told reporters in Moscow. “Americans unequivocally associate conversations about Third World War as something that, God forbid, if it happens, will affect Europe exclusively,” Lavrov said. Lavrov added that Russia was “clarifying” its nuclear doctrine. Obviously the Russians do not want a nuclear war. But unlike the U.S., the Russians have been feverishly preparing to fight one. Today, their strategic nuclear arsenal and their anti-missile systems are far superior to our own. Most Americans don’t realize this. I have been writing about this for years, but most people in the western world are not interested in such warnings. And the Russians also very clearly understand that whoever strikes first will have the best chance of surviving a nuclear conflict. Over and over, the Russians have made it clear that they would very much prefer to avoid using nuclear weapons. But the Russians have also told us over and over that if they are pushed too far they will use them. Right now, the Russians are extremely angry. We saw more evidence of this when they just launched the largest air assault on Ukraine since the war started… Russia launched a “massive” missile and drone attack aimed at energy infrastructure across Ukraine at the start of the week, marking the biggest air assault since the war began, Ukrainian officials said. Moscow has since followed that with a second wave of strikes early Tuesday morning. Monday’s onslaught, which killed at least seven people and caused power outages in several cities, marked Russia’s “most massive air attack” in more than two-and-a-half years of conflict, according to Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk. The reason why the Russians are so angry is due to Ukraine’s surprise invasion of Russia’s lightly populated Kursk region… Three weeks ago, Ukraine’s military launched a stunning operation to take the war in Ukraine back onto the territory of the country that launched it. Three weeks later, the Ukrainians still occupy hundreds of miles of territory in Russia’s western Kursk region. The incursion had a number of goals: to force Russia to divert its forces from Ukraine to defend its own towns and cities; to seize territory that might later be used for bargaining leverage in peace negotiations; and to send a political message to the Russian people and their leaders that they are not safe from the consequences of the war launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin nearly two-and-a-half years ago. Unfortunately for Ukraine, the Russians did not divert assets from eastern Ukraine to defend Kursk. Instead, the Russians have continued to move forward steadily in eastern Ukraine, and now they are closing in on the key city of Pokrovsk… And that means Russia’s eastern offensive, which kicked off last fall and widened around the New Year, has continued unimpeded through August. The consequences for Ukraine’s defensive campaign in the east have been dire. In essence, Russia is trading Kursk for part of eastern Ukraine. Ukraine is trading part of the east for Kursk. Whether either tradeoff is worth it is a political question—and one without an easy answer for either side. The drumbeat of recent Russian advances east of Pokrovsk, northwest of Donetsk, should sound like an alarm in Kyiv. On Friday, Russian infantry marched into Novohrodivka, seven miles east of Pokrovsk. Ukraine sent many of their best units (along with significant numbers of western mercenaries) into Kursk, and so much of the front in eastern Ukraine is now defended by new conscripts that are very poorly trained… As Kiev attempts to bask in triumph over its territorial gains inside of Russia, its forces are losing territory along the Eastern front lines in Ukraine. Ukrainian military commanders say the reason for the losses is poorly trained soldiers; many are even afraid to fire their weapons. Speaking with the Associated Press, a battalion commander in Ukraine’s 47th Brigade said, “Some people don’t want to shoot. They see the enemy in the firing position in trenches but don’t open fire. … That is why our men are dying. When they don’t use the weapon, they are ineffective.” The decision to invade the Kursk region is turning out to be a massive strategic blunder. The Ukrainians have lost vast numbers of men and vehicles in Kursk, but they aren’t going to be able to hold Russian territory for very long. Meanwhile, the front in eastern Ukraine is at risk of completely collapsing. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to insist that the invasion of Kursk is part of his “victory plan” which he will soon unveil to Joe Biden… Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said his troops’ incursion into Russia’s Kursk region is part of a “victory plan” that he will present to US President Joe Biden next month. Speaking at a forum on Tuesday, President Zelensky said the success of the plan would depend on President Biden and on whether the US would give Ukraine “what is in this plan or not, [and] whether we will be free to use this plan, or not”. “It may sound too ambitious for some, but it is an important plan for us,” he added, saying that he would also show the plan to both US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The only way that the Ukrainians can possibly achieve victory is to get the U.S. and other western powers directly involved in the conflict. So far, the Ukrainians have not been able to do that. But if that does happen at some point, that will bring us literally to the brink of nuclear war. Sadly, most people have no idea what a nuclear conflict would actually look like. According to author Annie Jacobsen, the initial blast of one nuclear warhead in Washington D.C. would immediately wipe out everything in a 9 mile diameter… So with a 1-megaton bomb on Washington, DC, what happens in the very first millisecond is that this thermonuclear flash expands into a ball of fire that is one mile of pure fire. It’s 19 football fields of fire. Then the fireball’s edges compress into what is called a steeply fronted blast wave — as dense wall of air pushing out, mowing down everything in its path three miles out, in every direction, because it is accompanied by several-hundred-mile-an-hour winds. It’s like Washington, DC, just got hit by an asteroid and the accompanying wave. When you think about this initial 9-mile diameter ring, imagine every single engineered structure — buildings, bridges, etc. — collapsing. That is what one nuclear warhead would do. The Russians have thousands of them. Millions would die during a full-blown nuclear exchange between the United States and Russia, but billions would potentially die during the nuclear winter that follows… A Nuclear war would plunge our planet into a deep nuclear winter. In the worst-case scenario, a nuclear exchange between the U.S. and Russia (which together possess nearly 90% of the world’s nuclear weapons) could eject up to 165 million tons (150 million metric tons) of soot into Earth’s atmosphere, reducing surface temperatures by 16 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius) and sending global calorie production plummeting by as much as 90%. We should do whatever it takes to avoid such a scenario. If leaders on both sides were sane, they would sit down and try to talk things out while it is still possible to do so. We are just a little over two months away from November, and so this is a perfect time to deeply alarm the general public about a coming health crisis, right? But this time around it isn’t just one major disease that is making news. As you will see below, people are freaking out about 3 different very frightening diseases. Of course when people are afraid that they might die from some extremely deadly outbreak, they are far more likely to accept measures that they would usually not even consider during normal times. In the Northeast, there is a tremendous amount of concern about the Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus right now. People in Massachusetts have been instructed to “limit their time outdoors” due to a confirmed case in that state, and now confirmed cases have appeared in Vermont and New Hampshire… Last week, it was reported that an 80-year-old man in Massachusetts tested positive for the rare virus, sparking public health concerns. Officials then discovered the disease in mosquitoes across the state and warned residents to limit their time outdoors. The virus then started appearing in neighboring states, with cases popping up in Vermont and New Hampshire, where the unidentified victim was pronounced dead. It is being reported that this virus “has also been found in horses in eight New York counties”. So this virus is already in at least four different states, and that is not good news at all, because it has a very high death rate in humans… Approximately 30 percent of those infected with the virus die, and those who survive, are often left with neurologic problems. There are no vaccines or medicines to treat or prevent the disease. Usually, cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis are quite rare. But if hundreds of people start dying after catching this virus in the months ahead, we are going to see extreme panic. Due to fears of Eastern Equine Encephalitis and an outbreak of West Nile virus, New York City is preparing “to spray pesticides to help prevent the spread of mosquitoes”… New York City is planning to spray pesticides to help prevent the spread of mosquitoes, and potential diseases. The announcement comes days after Dr Anthony Fauci, former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director and the government’s top infectious disease official during the pandemic, was hospitalized with West Nile virus. Dr Fauci, 83, spent around a week in the hospital after developing fever, chills, and severe fatigue. He believes he contracted West Nile in the backyard of his Washington DC home, and is expected to make a full recovery, CBS News’ chief medical correspondent Dr. Jonathan LaPook tweeted on Saturday. So now the entire Big Apple is going to be doused with dangerous chemicals in a desperate attempt to kill the mosquitoes that are carrying these diseases. If you live in New York City, now may be a good time to take a vacation. Meanwhile, scientists are warning that the new Monkeypox strain is mutating faster than they anticipated… Scientists studying the new mpox strain that has spread out of Democratic Republic of Congo say the virus is changing faster than expected, and often in areas where experts lack the funding and equipment to properly track it. That means there are numerous unknowns about the virus itself, its severity and how it is transmitting, complicating the response, half a dozen scientists in Africa, Europe and the United States told Reuters. So far they have had no luck fighting the outbreak that is absolutely ravaging the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sadly, the number of cases and the total death toll both continue to rise… Congo has had more than 18,000 suspected mpox cases and 615 deaths this year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), which declared an mpox health emergency this month after a new variant called clade Ib emerged. There have now been confirmed cases in several neighboring countries, and travelers have brought it to Europe and Asia. In 2022, a strain of Monkeypox that was being spread by sexual contact rapidly spread all over the globe. Apparently this new strain often spreads without any sexual contact at all, and we are being told that children are being infected in very large numbers… Children in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo are worst-affected by the current outbreak of mpox, which has been declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization. The country accounts for nearly all of this year’s recorded cases and more than 450 deaths. “It began like a small, inflamed spot. The mother squeezed it and watery discharge came out. Then another developed, and after a short period, they were all over the body,” says Alain Matabaro, describing how mpox developed in his six-year-old son Amani. At this point, the experts do not fully understand why so many children are being infected. One theory that is being proposed is that it is because children have “less developed immune systems”… Some 75% of the cases being seen by medics there are under the age of 10, according to Dr Pierre-Olivier Ngadjole who works for the charity Medair. Young people seem to be particularly badly affected by the mpox outbreak because of their less developed immune systems. If this new strain of monkeypox starts infecting children all over the western world, there will be widespread panic and we will likely see very harsh lockdowns. Speaking of that, it is being reported that a school in Alabama and a school in Tennessee were just temporarily shut down because too many kids were catching COVID… Schools in two states experiencing a rise in Covid cases announced they were closing facilities and switching to remote learning. Alabama and Tennessee announced the closure of two schools — affecting more than a thousand children — just days into the new academic year, with officials saying the virus had forced them to shut and carry out a ‘deep clean.’ At one of the schools, children had to abandon their desks and revert to remote learning for two days — a move reminiscent of the early days of Covid. Why is this happening? I thought that we agreed that we weren’t going to do this anymore. Right now there are lots of news stories about how COVID is making a major comeback, but most Americans are not buying it. By now, just about everyone understands that it has an extremely low death rate. However, it is just a matter of time before a horrifying worldwide pandemic that has a very high death rate comes along. When that day arrives, the panic that we have seen during the past several years will pale in comparison to what we will witness. 2,000 Years - By Dale V. Nobbman - https://www.raptureready.com/2024/08/27/2000-years-by-dale-v-nobbman/ Have you ever paused for a moment to ponder the fact that exactly 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ was alive as a human being living on this earth in Israel? Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man was dwelling with mankind for a brief span of approximately 33 years, working as a carpenter with his earthly father, until he began his Christian ministry the last 3 years of his physical life here on Earth. In A.D. 24, Jesus had not yet begun his ministry. 400 years ago, come the year 2030, three direct lines of my ancestors came to America. I am a 12th generation American descended from those three lines on my mother’s side of the family. They represent primarily my Scottish, English, and Dutch ancestral lineages. Two sides arrived with the Puritans at the Massachusetts Bay Colony in April of 1630, and the third line arrived in May of 1630 at the Dutch colony in New Netherland (New York). Four hundred years is a long time, but it reaches only one-fifth of the way back to the time of Jesus’s earthly life. Therefore, at the very minimum, I would need to line up at least 60 of my direct line ancestors in each family line to reach my ancestors who were living in the days of Jesus’ time on Earth. Just think about the billions of little things that had to go just right over those 60+ generations (much longer if families could be traced back to Noah) for you and me to be here today. If just one link in that chain had been broken along the way, if even one direct line family member would not have married the person they did, or never married, or had died prematurely from illness or accident, or in war, you and I would not be here. So, the way I see it, that takes a heap of perfect planning on the part of Almighty God! Truly amazing! On one hand, 2,000 years seems like a very long time, but at the speed life goes by today, a hundred years goes by mighty fast, making 2,000 years feel like a much shorter time span. After all, one thousand years is but a single day on God’s timetable (2 Peter 3:8). The Bible cites a lot of big, round numbers. I personally think it would be simply great if Jesus would come back to rapture Christians from the earth even 2,000 years from the time of His resurrection or His ascension to heaven from the Mount of Olives, which took place 40 days after His resurrection. That timetable would put the Rapture of God’s Church (Christians) within reach during our lifetimes, and the current ‘signs of the times’ according to Biblical scripture certainly seem to reinforce the Rapture happening soon as a very distinct possibility. What a thrill it would be to be part of the Rapture while we Christians today are still living. It will certainly be the ultimate experience for Christians still living on Earth at that time, even though the Bible says it will be accomplished in the ‘blink of an eye.’ But this is all just hopeful thinking on my part because not a single person knows the exact time the Rapture will take place, and the Bible makes that fact perfectly clear. But be comforted in the fact that even if we die before the Rapture, Jesus will not forget us at the time of the Rapture. He will raise all Christians who have lived and died over the past nearly 2,000 years to meet Him in the air in order to give us our resurrected, incorruptible bodies, which will be fit for entrance into the New Heaven and New Earth to come. However, the only way to become a raptured Christian is to be a believer in Jesus Christ (before the Rapture), as the Son of God and the Lamb of God came to Earth to redeem us from our sins and make us righteous with God the Father by dying on a cross, shedding His blood for us, defeating death by His own resurrection, and thereby becoming our Savior. John 3:16 in the Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life.” In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” We cannot be saved by our family bloodlines. It does not matter how many of my 60 or so direct ancestors in each of my bloodlines over the last 2,000 years became Christians. Believing in Jesus is a personal decision only YOU can make. It is between you and Jesus. Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.” Despite the troubles in the world today, it is truly an awesome time to be alive and maybe be in the generation of people who will experience the Rapture before our physical death. I do not think we pause often enough to seriously contemplate our miraculous personal existence on this planet, made possible only by the grace of God. We should follow more often the Biblical instruction found in Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” No matter when the Rapture takes place, the Bible advises Christians to be ‘watching’ for the return of Jesus Christ. Let us all say, come quickly, Lord Jesus! Let it be so—Amen! Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: Politics gone insane - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com The recent Democratic National Convention was a showcase for politics gone insane. To any and every American irrespective of party affiliation the spectacle in Chicago last week should raise alarm bells. The Democratic Party has driven a stake in the ground with a most communistic concept of “democratic” government in the history of the United States. Price controls on food, blaming grocery stores for inflated prices, after causing the inflation; transgendermania; abortion on demand; hateful rhetoric; demonizing of any and all American citizens who do not agree with their agenda—all part and parcel to one of the most dangerous, freedom-threatening political ticket in history. Remember that on Sunday, July 14, Joe Biden addressed the nation with a blatantly political speech saying that the political rhetoric needed to cool down and that there was no place in America for political violence. Yet the entire Democratic convention was based on hateful political rhetoric aimed at President Trump and his supporters. These people accuse their opposition of flaming hatred, but it is their own hateful words that stir the hearts and minds of those who would take violent action. The democrat speakers repeated slur after slur, even lie after lie, that would ignite hate and violence. The show didn’t stop there. The over-the-top support for the LGBTQ+ community only codified the insanity. How is it even allowed that an entire political party would endorse grooming children for sexual mutilation? Transgender this. Queer that. It is woven into the fabric of the Democratic Party. Abortion unlimited. The conventioneers proudly touted Planned Parenthood’s mobile bus encouraging free abortions and vasectomies to all comers. People are afraid to call this what it is—absolute insanity—because of the bullying and censorship they will face for being hateful. It’s not about hate. People who support this insanity need spiritual and mental help. Outside the convention, terrorist supporters were protesting because the democrats were not supporting them enough. Pro-Israel organizations couldn’t even get a parade permit in this democrat-run city. Fences inside of fences were put up to protect the elite inside—largely from their own supporters who are violently angry about not getting enough support. Anybody in their right mind—and I mean this sincerely—needs incredible self-examination if they are sticking with the Democratic Party after that show of insanity. Ecclesiastes 9:3 says, “the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.” Sadly, there are many who will choose to follow this politics gone insane. But suicide doesn’t solve problems; it simply hurls a person immediately into eternity, into the presence of God Almighty, with all their problems unresolved. Meanwhile, it leaves their loved ones grieving and often blaming themselves. Death does not hide us from God. God is present everywhere, on both sides of the grave. The psalmist David wrote, “If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there” (Psalm 139:8 NLT). Distance does not separate us from God. David went on to say, “If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me” (verses 9–10 NLT). No matter where we go, He is there. He is watching over us. Of course, Jonah discovered this truth about God after he thought he’d successfully escaped from God. He was asleep on a boat when a great storm arose, and God snatched him up and put him inside a fish He had prepared to get Jonah back in line. In that case, this act of God was a disciplining one. The day will come in the future of the church when we will be taken into the presence of God. We call this the Rapture. Jesus said, “There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am” (John 14:2–3 NLT). The phrase “I will come and get you” also could be translated “I will take you by force” or “I will snatch you.” Jesus was saying there will be a generation on this earth (and we may be that generation) that will not see death but will be taken immediately into the presence of God. He will snatch them away. So, not only will Jesus hold us while we are on this planet, but it just may be that He will come and pull us off this earth in the Rapture if it happens in our lifetime. David also pointed out that darkness does not separate us from God. He wrote, “I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night—but even in darkness I cannot hide from you” (Psalm 139:11–12 NLT). We think of darkness as covering everything. But God sees in the darkness. It’s like daytime to Him. He sees everything and knows everything. Yet if your life is right with God, it’s comforting to know that God sees you. Have you ever noticed that strange people come out late at night? The later it gets, the stranger they get. Of course, the question arises: What are they doing out at that hour? Somehow, people think that when they turn out the light, no one will see them. But God sees. Nothing escapes His attention. There are no secrets with Him.
