Monday evening marked the beginning of the observance of Tisha B’Av, or, the Ninth of Av. Tisha B’Av is recognized as one of the saddest days on the Hebrew calendar, as it commemorates the destruction of the first two temples in Jewish history, not to mention several other tragic events. As Jews observe this day of mourning, they will traditionally fast (water and food), emphasize the use of certain ointments, and mourn in various ways. They will also refrain from any marital, physical intimacy, routine hobbies, and bathing, among other things. Also commemorated on this date is the Bar Kochba Revolt in 133 A.D., when the Jews fell to the Romans, followed by the plowing of the Temple Mount exactly one year later. Additionally, the expulsion of England’s Jews in 1290 and the banishment of all Jews from Spain in 1492 fell on this very day in history. Interestingly enough, the temples were both destroyed on the same calendar date in history, the ninth of Av, 657 years apart. Coincidence? Not likely. The first temple, the Solomonic temple (built by King Solomon, David’s son), was destroyed by the Babylonians in 587 B.C. after the Jews had been exiled to Babylon under King Nebuchadnezzar II. The second temple, the Herodian temple, was destroyed in 70 A.D. at the hands of the Romans when they sieged Jerusalem – an event that Jesus Himself foretold (Matthew 24:1-2). The reasoning for the destruction of the first temple, sadly, was due to the nation’s sin, which resulted in exile from the land for 70 years (Jeremiah 29:10, Daniel 9:2). As previously mentioned, the second temple was destroyed when the Romans sieged Jerusalem, ultimately leading to the diaspora of the Jewish people which was foretold by the prophets. While the past temples are of great significance both biblically and historically, the series of temples has not run its course. If you ever go on a trip to Israel, and more specifically, the Old City, you can find your way to the Temple Institute. Within this institute, it will become abundantly clear that the Jewish people are beyond ready to construct their third temple. They have the blueprints, priestly garments, temple utensils (with the exception of the original Ark of the Covenant), etc. So, what’s preventing them? The Temple Mount is one of the most religiously controversial places on the face of the earth, currently manned by Islam’s Dome of the Rock & Al-Aqsa Mosque, the “third-holiest site” of Islam. However, a time is coming when a man who the Bible refers to as the man of sin, the man of lawlessness, is going to likely provide the means for Israel to construct its third temple, despite the pressure from Islam. That being said, tragically, according to Daniel, Jesus, and Paul, this temple, the third temple, also faces a rough future (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, 2 Thessalonians 2:4). This temple will be desecrated by the most wicked man to ever live, the Antichrist, and will lead to the worst persecution the Jewish people have ever experienced. Thankfully, despite the tragedies surrounding the third temple, this isn’t where the series ends. There will be a fourth temple, and our Messiah, Jesus, will reign from it Himself (Ezekiel 43:1-7), bringing to the world something it has never experienced but God has always intended – perfect peace, perfect justice, perfect righteousness; a perfect King. While millions in the western world are partying, an apocalyptic all-out war is threatening to erupt in the Middle East and Ukraine has launched a surprise invasion of Russia. Needless to say, seeing Ukrainian troops come pouring across Russia’s lightly defended border in the Kursk region came as quite a shock to Vladimir Putin and his generals. The Ukrainians have decided to take things to the next level, and the Russians are beyond angry. Meanwhile, Israel is bracing for a “large scale” Iranian attack at any time… Israel is expecting a ‘large scale’ Iranian attack and Hezbollah has evacuated its Beirut headquarters in anticipation of an all-out war with Israel, according to reports. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant told US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that Iran was making preparations for a large-scale military attack on Israel during a phone call on Sunday, Axios News reporter Barack Ravid wrote on X. The planned attack could happen ‘within days’, according to two sources who spoke to CNN. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has evacuated its headquarters in Beirut, according to Lebanese news outlet Al Joumhouria – further raising concerns. We have been waiting for Iran to strike Israel since the end of July, but so far such an attack has not materialized. Many were hoping that cooler heads had prevailed in Iran. Sadly, it appears that an attack is still coming, and Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant is warning that Iran and Hezbollah “are threatening to harm us in a way they haven’t done in the past”. That sounds rather ominous. If there is an attack, it will almost certainly be more substantial than what we witnessed last time around. For the moment, however, the Iranians seem to be enjoying keeping everyone in suspense… “There may be no attack at all, or there could be one tonight,” an Iranian regime insider told the Financial Times. “Waiting for death is more difficult than death itself.” “Iran has launched a psychological warfare campaign to keep Israel’s military, security, and logistical capabilities on edge, denying residents of the occupied territories any sense of calm,” the insider added. Maybe they will keep playing this game for a while. Or maybe they will attack tonight. We just don’t know. There have been reports of missile launchers being moved into position. But that could just be more of their mind games. The U.S. is certainly not taking any chances. According to John Kirby, the U.S. is operating under the assumption that an Iranian attack could come as early as this week… The U.S. is preparing for Iran or its proxies to attack Israel as soon as this week, according to White House national security spokesman John Kirby. He confirmed Monday that the U.S. is increasing its military presence in the region and said that President Joe Biden had talked with European allies about support for Israel. If the Iranians attack, the U.S. will defend Israel. A guided missile sub is being deployed to the Middle East, and the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group has been ordered to “sail more quickly to the area”… U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered a guided missile submarine to the Middle East and told the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to sail more quickly to the area, as the U.S. said Monday it believes Iran or its proxies could launch a strike against Israel as soon as this week. The moves, announced by the Defense Department Sunday, come as the U.S. and other allies push for Israel and Hamas to achieve a cease-fire agreement that could help calm soaring tensions in the region after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut. I will be watching the USS Abraham Lincoln very closely. If all-out war erupts, it could become a prime target for either the Iranians or Hezbollah. Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine has taken an unexpected turn. The Ukrainians have been slowly but surely losing ground in eastern Ukraine, and so they decided to do something dramatic to change the momentum of the war. Nobody expected the Ukrainians to invade Russian territory, and so the Russians were completely surprised when that actually happened… Ukraine’s shock incursion across the Russian border into Kursk Oblast may force important strategic decisions on Moscow as President Vladimir Putin’s troops are taken as prisoners of war and supply lines are threatened. The Ukrainian attack took Russian forces by surprise, according to one U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly. According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukraine’s cross-border gambit has allowed Kyiv to seize the battlefield initiative, long held by Russian forces who were able to dictate the time and place of fighting and force Ukrainian troops to expend manpower and equipment on defensive operations. On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke of the importance of removing these Ukrainian forces from Russian territory during a televised appearance… President Vladimir Putin ordered his army on Monday to “dislodge” Ukrainian troops who have entered Russian territory as authorities said more than 120,000 people had been evacuated away from the fighting. Kyiv launched a surprise offensive into Russia’s western Kursk region last Tuesday, capturing more than two dozen settlements in the most significant cross-border attack on Russian soil since World War II. “One of the obvious goals of the enemy is to sow discord, strife, intimidate people, destroy the unity and cohesion of Russian society,” Putin told a televised meeting with government officials. The Ukrainians will not be able to hold Russian territory for long. So why did they do this? Personally, my opinion is that the Ukrainians are trying to get the Russians so angry that they will decide to use tactical nuclear weapons. If Russia uses tactical nuclear weapons, NATO will be forced to intervene, and then we really will have a nightmare scenario on our hands. This conflict with Russia is one of “the 3 wars of the apocalypse” that I keep warning my readers about. The coming all-out war in the Middle East is another one. At the moment, Israel is exacting a heavy price for atrocities perpetrated by Iran’s proxy terrorist organizations. The most recent is the assassination of murderous terrorist leaders in Beirut and Teheran. Especially troubling is Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh being blown up with a detonation in his room. The attack was at first thought to be a drone strike by Israel; now it’s been found to be an explosive device inside Haniyeh’s bedroom, I take it. The occurrence was said to be an “inside job.” Regardless, Israel is seen as being responsible for the assassination, and no doubt that is a correct assumption. Haniyeh is said to be responsible for planning and implementing the attack and murder of twelve children as they played soccer, when a rocket‘s warhead exploded on the field. The act so enraged Israel’s government that they broke away from their normal ways of retaliation, going not to a proxy nation, but straight to Teheran to take out the head terrorist. At first it seemd that the explosive was planted in Haniyeh’s room two months in advance of its detonation, and was ignited only when he was known to be occupying that space. This would indicate almost prescient thinking on behalf of Israel’s assassination units, and the thought of that foreknowledge apparently had the terrorists and their associate evil regime in Iran going a bit nutso. It has now been said that the explosive was placed there only two days before the detonation. The ayatollahs and others say it is an act of war, with Israel striking directly into Iran. It opens up a new level of hostility, and Iran’s regime threatens all-out war. In view of all this, the Biden administration has sent naval ships in that direction in anticipation of a greatly expanded conflict in the region. It is interesting to see that things are ramping up between Israel and its blood-vowed enemy, Iran, with this unprecedented attack by Israel against Iran itself. At the same time, another nation-state actor that’s part of the coalition that will comprise the Gog-Magog assault has interjected an equally fascinating element that brings that prophecy into ever-sharpening focus. Turkey’s leader on Sunday threatened military intervention in Israel to stop Jerusalem’s war in Gaza in a significant escalation of rhetoric from NATO’s second-largest military. In a meeting with his Justice and Development Party (AKP), President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey “must be very strong so that Israel can’t do these ridiculous things to Palestine.” “Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we might do similar to them,” he said, according to a Reuters report. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz came back swinging and suggested Erdoğan would meet a similarly deadly fate as Iraq’s former president, Saddam Hussein, who was executed by hanging in 2006. “Erdoğan follows in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatens to attack Israel. Just let him remember what happened there and how it ended,” Katz said in a message posted to X that included a picture of Erdoğan and the former Iraqi leader. (“Turkey’s leader on Sunday threatened military intervention in Israel to stop Jerusalem’s war in Gaza,” by Caitlin McFall, FoxNews.com, July 29, 2024) The Turkish dictator Recep Tayyip Erdoğan thus makes clearer how Togarmah, regarded as the geographical area of current-day Turkey by prophetic scholars, is moving into the Ezekiel 38–39 alliance. This movement has been growing for some time since Erdoğan took over as president of the country. Turkey, a member of NATO, has been moving more and more into the orbit of Iran and Russia and spewing hateful rhetoric against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Jewish state. This has caused a number of legislators within the US and the European Union that are part of NATO to call for kicking Turkey out of the organization. This call for Israel’s punishment by Turkey is seen as unprecedented by a NATO member, following the dastardly murders, rapes, and other evil perpetrated by Hamas against Israel October 7, 2023. Clearly this further sets the stage for the end of the age and the beginning of the Tribulation (Daniel’s seventieth week). Everything for the Tribulation and the Rapture, which will proceed that terrible time, is tightening into focus as we continue to view things through the prism of God’s prophetic Word. America Is Following Foreign Nations Down The Road To Destruction – By David Bowen - https://harbingersdaily.com/america-is-following-foreign-nations-down-the-road-to-destruction/ Amos 3:3 asks if two can walk together if they are not in agreement. This is the opening question of a series of seven rhetorical questions designed to confirm that nothing happens without God’s control. What do these seven rhetorical questions mean? They mean that when God acts, there should be no surprise. Before He acts in judgment, He gives much warning. Amos 7:7-9 deals with the prophet seeing God using a plumb line. This is the third of five visions and one that deeply troubled the servant. A plumb line is a carpenter’s tool used to measure how straight a wall is. A wall must be taken down and rebuilt if it is too far off. The Lord is not measuring a wall, but He is measuring Israel. How far off from His Laws had Israel come? Back in Genesis, God gave Israel the choice to live however they wanted. If they obeyed God, they would receive His blessing. If they went their way and disobeyed God, they would receive the fruit of that decision. The plumb line shows how far Israel had gone astray. I believe God still measures this world with that same plumb line. Knowing the answer to this vision, Amos knew that the time for Israel to face the consequences of their choices had arrived. Genesis 28-30 was evident. The only God they were to worship was the Lord. When measured, they were completely out of plumb, and now the sword of judgment was about to fall. Because Amos was faithful in preaching the truth, his message needed to be received. With this third vision, Amos did not intercede. Israel had gone too far away from God’s word. As with much of a prophet’s message, it was not heard or heeded. This message God sent to the northern tribes of Israel is still valid today, but it’s only now for more than the ten tribes of the north. The world needs to understand this vision and its meaning. The United States a Divided Nation The United States of America is a divided nation. The divide we see in our nation today has roots going back more than fifty years. To understand the depth of this divide, we need to go back to 1968, then 1971, and finally to 1984. 1971 saw the creation of Operation PUSH, which stood for People United to Save Humanity. This movement’s concept and direction were originally created by Fred Hampton in 1968, who at the time was the leader of the Chicago Black Panthers. Jesse Jackson was an active organizer of Operation PUSH and later formed the Rainbow Coalition. Both Operation PUSH and the National Rainbow Coalition were Chicago-based nonprofits. Jesse Jackson’s speech at the 1984 Democratic National Convention in San Francisco detailed the structure of the Rainbow Coalition. · It advocated universal health care · It proclaimed a war on drugs · It promoted negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis · It fought for 1% student loans · It called for employee rights and livable wages · It also promoted gender equality These issues date back over fifty years, and they are all problems that need to be addressed. It is not the issues that have divided our nation; it is how we have approached dealing with them that has divided us. Steve Philips, the youngest person ever elected to public office in San Francisco, became the man behind the democratic scenes. His book, Brown Is the New White: How the Demographic Revolution Has Created a New American Majority, proposed a new road map for taking back our country. Philips’ book was published in 2018, but its thesis goes back to the 1960’s. Philips was credited with finding a young senator from Chicago, a community activist named Barak Obama, and launching his political career to the White House. Social Injustices, Idolatry, and Failure to Uphold God’s Law In the book of Amos, God first brings judgment on Israel’s neighbors. Then, God condemns Israel for their social injustices, idolatry, and failure to uphold God’s law. Israel was judged because of the way they had abandoned God and sought after foreign nations. They sought to align themselves with nations that did not worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In the day of Amos, the foreign threat came from Assyria. In 2024, and going back a few administrations, our threat comes from China. Like the leaders of Israel in Amos’ day, our leadership is aligning with foreign nations, particularly China, a nation that does not honor or worship the God of Scripture. For example, why was Mark Kelly a possible VP candidate? Do you know where he met his wife, the former congresswoman Gabby Giffords? They met in 2003 in China. As a United States astronaut, Mark promoted vitamins made and sold by a Chinese company. It was reported that Shaklee Vitamins paid Kelly $50,000 to be their spokesman. In 2020, the Huffington Post reported that while Gabrielle Giffords was serving in the US House of Representatives, her financial disclosures show Kelly, from 2011 to 2016, was paid $50,000 yearly for Shaklee speeches. For decades, our political and business leaders, from Henry Kissinger to Bill Gates, have all locked arms with China. Canada’s leader, Justin Trudeau, has publicly said that he believes the world should be modeled after China. We see how that relationship is going, especially after the recent G20 confrontation and China’s leader’s public rebuke of Trudeau. There is nothing new here. We can learn a lot from the warning of the Book of Amos! Klaus Schwab and China’s Master Plan for Humanity Klaus Schwab, the leader of the World Economic Forum, has publicly said the world should follow China’s master plan for humanity. What has been the fruit of that? ESG scores, 15-minute cites, sustainable development, and so on. Our decline as a nation mirrors Israel’s decline in the days of Amos. Amos ministered 150 years after the nations of Israel were divided into two parts: Israel in the north and Judah in the south. God sent Isaiah to Judah, and he sent Amos to Israel. The North and the South were warned and told to repent and get right with God. Both refused to listen, and foreign enemies conquered both. It’s not an issue that divides us. It’s the replacing of God with reliance on foreign nations, nations that refuse to acknowledge, worship, or obey God and His word, and nations whose policies go directly against God and His word. We have been on this road for decades. It’s time for our leaders and us to stop going in the direction we are and turn back to God before His judgment falls. God’s plumb line clearly shows how far America has gone astray. Against the backdrop of one of the most socialist takeovers of the executive branch in history resulting in tremendous failures in both domestic and foreign policy, the Democratic Party has chosen to dig in on presenting the most socialistic presidential ticket ever seen in America. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz would have been considered communists in the 1950s. Now they are repackaged at progressives. Their positions on key issues are proven failures and border on nonsense. A major political party in any country does not allow this type of presidential ticket going forward unless it is banking on a specific outcome. Beware of the deception ahead. Harris-Walz by any normal political standard is a losing ticket. In any given year, this ticket would be considered a laughing stock. But this is no “given year.” There will be about 40% of voters who will vote for Harris-Walz just because they are Democrats. There also will be a single digit percentage that will vote for the ticket because they represent a considerably growing segment of mentally ill people. The Democrats have also chosen their side in the Israel vs Palestinian terrorist issue with Walz, hoping to get more Muslim vote than losing Jewish votes. When you get right down to the nuts and bolts of this ticket, it could very well win just based on the socialist—mental ill—Islamic coalition it cobbles together. Couple this with a very progressive news media and propaganda effort that continuously feeds negativity, hate, and disruption instigated by the radical left and blamed on Christians and conservatives. Indeed, the ongoing provision of illegal immigrants getting drivers licenses and registering to vote will also have an impact. Whether they are eligible to vote is in-material. They can vote and get away with it if there is no accountability. We have seen this before, right? There are still states that allow ballot-stuffing through mail-ins without any voter identification. We can’t forget that the Democrats fight it in court any purging of dead people from the voter rolls. There is a reason for that, and it’s not about discrimination. A question worth asking is why would the Democratic Party put up this ticket? Are they just willing to accept the loss and hope for the best on the down-ballot candidates? Or are they so confident that they can continue their Marxist revolution and win this? Yes, Donald Trump should tramp all over this ticket, but in politics everything happens for a reason. As 2 Timothy 3:13 warns, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” We must remain vigilant in both prayer and action, praying unceasingly that the Lord spare our nation from the consequences of bad leadership. We take His blessings in our lives for granted far too often. God is faithful. God is good. And God is consistent. The Bible promises that God will not just pardon us for our sin but will abundantly pardon us. Isaiah 55:7 tells us, “Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously” (NLT). Not only is God able to do what we ask of Him through prayer, but according to Ephesians 3:20, He is able to “accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (NLT). Not only are we conquerors in Christ, but according to Romans 8:37, “we are more than conquerors” (NIV). He gives us not just peace but a peace that “exceeds anything we can understand” (Philippians 4:7 NLT). The psalmist and shepherd David was able to look back on his life and say, “My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:5–6 NLT). As Christians look back at their lives, if they have been walking closely with God, they’re able to see a pattern of God’s blessings over the years. While this world feasts on the rotting carcasses of sin, the Christian feasts at the Good Shepherd’s table. While the world feasts on cheap imitations, the Christian feasts on the real thing. While this world drinks from the polluted, diseased watering holes, the Christian—God’s sheep—feeds on green pastures and drinks from still waters. As the results of sin catch up with those who have had no time for God, those who have faithfully walked with God find that goodness and mercy, like two sheepdogs, have been following them all along. Sometimes, when we’re going through certain situations, we may not see God’s goodness or mercy. In fact, we may even question God on occasion. But as the years pass, as we look back, we are able to see God’s hand in our lives in a way that perhaps we couldn’t see it before. This is illustrated well in the tumultuous life of young Joseph, who had so many setbacks. Yet many wonderful things happened in his life. In the end, he said to his brothers, who had sold him into slavery years before, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people” (Genesis 50:20 NLT). Joseph was able to recognize, like David, that God’s goodness and mercy had followed him all the days of his life. And we can look back and see the same thing. Really, the Christian life is the greatest life there is. It is better than anything this world has to offer.
