Threats Of War, Rogue Alliances, And Nuclear Weapons: Are We Approaching the Gog-Magog War? – By Mark Hitchcock - https://harbingersdaily.com/threats-of-war-rogue-alliances-and-nuclear-weapons-are-approaching-the-gog-magog-war/
Our world today is witnessing mounting threats on numerous fronts. The alignment of nations coming together and the threat of war escalating daily, especially in Israel, point toward a prophecy in the Bible spoken of in Ezekiel 38 and 39: the Gog-Magog war. Turkey is one of the nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38 and 39. Four of the places mentioned there are in modern-day Turkey—Meshech, Tubal, Togarmah, and Gomer. Today, Turkey has been sidelined by many Western nations due to their inflammatory rhetoric about Israel and massive demonstrations in favor of Hamas during the Israel-Gaza war. Turkey is a member of NATO and has desired to join the European Union. Knowing that that is unlikely to happen, they have increasingly moved eastward in their alliances. Significantly, Turkey is now saying that it wants to become a member of “BRICS,” an economic group whose first five members were Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. BRICS was founded to rival the G7 nations, and many believe it could overtake them within the next 20 years. The Kremlin welcomes Turkey’s reported desire to join BRICS with open arms. If Turkey joins BRICS it would undermine many of the nations that are in NATO. This is another indication showing that Turkey, more and more, is moving away from its Western allies and towards Russia and Iran, which is exactly what we should expect if the Gog-Magog War is getting closer. Turkey is a marginalized and alienated nation, and they’re finding their place with Russia and Iran. Speaking of Iran, alarm bells are sounding right now. The Wall Street Journal had a headline this week that read, “Newsflash: Iran Wants A Bomb.” Now, that’s obviously nothing new. They’re almost being sarcastic. The Washington Post additionally published an article titled, “Iran signals a major boost in nuclear enrichment at a key site.” They explain that a new computer model programming is providing a shorter runway for Iran to get nuclear weapons. “Hundreds of new centrifuges would triple Iran’s uranium enrichment capacity at a deeply buried underground nuclear facility,” The Washington Post reported. They’ve developed what’s been called “a nuclear assembly line,” and they’re “moving briskly toward becoming a threshold nuclear power, capable of making nuclear bombs rapidly if its leaders decide to do so.” Fox News this week has this headline, “Alarming discovery of Iran nuclear activity could ‘upend’ US assessment of weapons capability.” The alarm bells are going off about Iran’s nuclear program right now, much more than at any time in the past. In fact, there’s a meeting at the White House between US and Israeli official officials this week to discuss these alarming new developments. In addition to the “nuclear assembly line,” Iran currently has 300 pounds of highly enriched uranium that could be further refined into weapons-grade fuel for nuclear bombs within weeks—they’re at the nuclear threshold. A lot of this has been precipitated by the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, which Iran, ultimately, was the one behind. They’re using their escalating conflict with Israel as their opportunity to move their nuclear program forward. According to the Washington Post, experts are saying it could be about two years for Iran to build a nuclear warhead that could be fitted onto a missile. However, they are currently at the nuclear threshold, and obviously, smaller nuclear devices can be transported in other ways. Iran could also receive nuclear warheads from allies such as Russia or North Korea, which wouldn’t require them to build their own. Speaking of Russia and North Korea, Vladimir Putin last week visited Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, for the first time in 21 years. The Kremlin is running low on different munitions, with many reporting that Russia could potentially run out of tanks. It seems they are appealing to outliers, rogue nations like North Korea, to help them. Many are startled by the idea of an alliance between Russia and North Korea, with the Center For Strategic And International Studies (CSIS) calling the summit meeting between the two nations “the greatest security threat to the United States since the end of the Korean War.” The leader of North Korea is a rogue Leader who is unpredictable in his actions, and they have nuclear weapons that have the ability to reach the United States. The meeting between Russia and North Korea is a major development, adding to the powder keg that’s ready to explode in our world. Another development pertains to Hezbollah and the escalating situation on Israel’s northern border. We are seeing intensifying cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah, even just in the past week. It is my belief that Hezbollah will be one of the “many peoples” that are mentioned in Ezekiel chapter 38 that will be part of the Gog-Magog invasion. War breaking out between Israel and Hezbollah appears unavoidable at this point unless something major takes place. War between Israel and Hezbollah would be a significant game changer and make what’s happening in Gaza with Hamas a sideshow in comparison. One of the things that’s changed the calculus recently is Hezbollah publishing surveillance footage from an Iranian-made drone they claim flew over several cities in the northern part of Israel, primarily the major coastal city of Haifa. Because of the alleged surveillance footage, many have reported that Israel is ready for all-out war in Lebanon. A CNN headline stated, “Israel warns of prospect of all out war after Hezbollah publishes video of military and civilian sites.” Times Of Israel this week published an article that read, “Top Israeli generals approve Lebanon offensive battle plans, army says.” They already have the battle plans drawn up for what’s going to happen if they go into Lebanon to fight Hezbollah. They have already been approved. It’s difficult to imagine how a war between Israel and Lebanon, a third Lebanon War, can be averted when they are already on the brink. All of these events taking place today, Turkey moving more to the East, Russia with China and now North Korea, Iran drawing closer to the nuclear threshold, their proxy Hezbollah and Israel on the brink of war, are building up and setting up for what the Bible predicts is coming in the future. My wife often says, “I can’t believe we’re still here with all that’s happening in our world!” I share her sentiments. You don’t have to be a Bible prophecy or Bible expert to look at our world today and see things are set up for the coming of Jesus Christ. Spend time drawing closer to God and developing a deeper, thriving spiritual walk with the Lord because time is short. Jesus is coming soon. I pray that He will come quickly and that all of us are ready for that trumpet sound. Countdown To Cataclysm - by Michael Snyder - https://endoftheamericandream.com/countdown-to-cataclysm/ We are closer to the unthinkable than we have ever been, but I have noticed that concern about global war has fallen to an exceedingly low level in the western world. Many people are just having a good old time as if they didn’t have a care in the world, and meanwhile global leaders on all sides are dragging us to the brink of destruction. During World War III, more people could die than in all of the other wars that have ever been fought in human history combined. Unfortunately, only a very small fraction of the population is actively trying to prevent such a cataclysm. By the time most of the population finally wakes up, it may be too late. The war in the Middle East has been heating up for months, and now it appears that we have almost reached a critical turning point… Months of relentless exchanges between Israel and Lebanon’s militant group Hezbollah have seen mass civilian evacuations and widespread death, injury and destruction. The violence has worsened since early June, accompanied by increasingly heated rhetoric. Both sides have prevented the tit-for-tat attacks from escalating into a full-blown war, recognizing the likely catastrophic consequences. The question is whether this fragile containment can hold in the future. One U.S. official that was asked about this says that it is “a miracle” that all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah has not already erupted… “The fact that we have managed to even hold the front for this long has been a miracle,” a senior US official said, referring to the US’ efforts to keep the Israel-Hezbollah attacks from spiraling into an all-out war. “We’re entering a very dangerous period,” another senior Biden administration official said. “Something could start with little warning.” To say that we are entering a very dangerous period is a major understatement. The moment that the IDF crosses the border into Lebanon, there will be all-out war. On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that Israeli troops are going to be moved north for the coming confrontation with Hezbollah… Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated in a television interview on Sunday that he intends to move some of the country’s forces to the northern border to fight the Lebanon-based military group Hezbollah. Were it not for the war in Gaza, that conflict might have already been capturing the world’s attention. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is also visiting Washington this week in part to discuss the implications of that escalation with US officials. Originally, it was my assessment that this showdown would occur in the fall. But it may happen a little bit earlier than that. We shall see. In any event, Hezbollah is pledging that there will be war “with no restraints” once Israel attacks… The Iranian-backed Hezbollah terror group overnight Saturday threatened to wage war against Israel “with no restraints.” In a video message, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said, “In case an inclusive war is imposed on Lebanon, the resistance will fight without restraints, without rules, without limits.” The minute-long clip then shows footage of various sites in central Israel, along with their GPS coordinates. “Whoever thinks of war against us, will regret it,” the video ends. Hezbollah possesses an enormous arsenal of highly sophisticated missiles, and one Biden administration official is openly admitting that Iron Dome batteries will likely be “overwhelmed” when all-out war erupts… “We assess that at least some” Iron Dome batteries “will be overwhelmed,” said a senior administration official. An Israeli official said that would be more likely if Hezbollah conducted a large-scale attack principally using precision guided weapons, which could be challenging for the system to defend against. Hezbollah has been stockpiling precision guided munitions and missiles from Iran for years, which Israel has repeatedly raised concerns about. Hezbollah also possesses an army of approximately 100,000 fighters, and soldiers from other parts of the Middle East are already pouring into southern Lebanon to bolster their ranks. And once all-out war breaks out between Israel and Hezbollah, it is unlikely that Iran would remain on the sidelines for long… The top US military officer warned on Sunday that any Israeli military offensive into Lebanon would risk an Iranian response in defense of the powerful Hezbollah terror group there, and that US forces would be challenged to bolster Israel’s air defense umbrella. Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown, chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Iran “would be more inclined to support Hezbollah” than it does the Hamas terror group in Gaza, “particularly if they felt that Hezbollah was being significantly threatened.” What would a cataclysmic conflict between Israel and the combined forces of Iran and Hezbollah look like? And would the United States be pulled into such a conflict? Most Americans are not even considering such questions. But over in Israel, there is a growing consensus that a final showdown is inevitable. The following comes from a recent editorial in the Jerusalem Post… In the last couple of weeks, it has become clear that a war with Hezbollah is inevitable. It has no longer become a conservation of “if” rather than “when.” Since October 8, the day after the devastating Hamas massacre, Hezbollah has attacked Israel every day and has been doing so every day since. The group has fired over 5,000 rockets, anti-tank missiles, and explosive-laden drones toward the northern border, forcing 60,000 Israelis in the North out of their homes and turning them into displaced people in their own country with no end date on when they should be going home. According to senior officials in Israel, the countdown to a potential war with Hezbollah has begun, and Israeli officials have said they have been left with no other choice. As I have been warning for a long time, this thing in the Middle East is going to get really, really bad. Meanwhile, an extremely alarming incident in Crimea that involved U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles has brought us even closer to a direct military conflict with Russia… The Kremlin on Monday directly blamed the United States for an attack on Crimea with U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles that killed at least four people and injured 151, and Moscow formally warned the U.S. ambassador that retaliation would follow. The war in Ukraine has triggered the biggest confrontation between Russia and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, and Russian officials have said that the conflict is entering the most dangerous escalatory phase to date. But directly blaming the United States for a deadly attack on Crimea – which Russia annexed in 2014 and now considers to be Russian territory although most of the world considers it to be part of Ukraine – is a step further. Russian children were killed by missiles that we produced, and those missiles were delivered by systems that we provided, and Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov is warning that there will be “consequences” for the United States… The Kremlin has accused the U.S. of ‘killing Russian children’ after a Ukrainian attack on occupied Crimea with long-range missiles supplied by Washington and said there will be ‘consequences’. Moscow has summoned the U.S. ambassador to issue a formal warning, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov issued a public statement slamming the U.S. for ‘barbaric’ strike on Sevastopol, a strategic port city on the Black Sea. ‘The involvement of the United States, the direct involvement, as a result of which Russian civilians are killed, cannot be without consequences,’ said Peskov. So what will those “consequences” look like? At this point, we don’t know. Hopefully the Russians will not do anything too dramatic. But if both sides just continue to escalate matters, it is just a matter of time before we reach a point of no return. You can only flirt with war for so long before you get burned. Approximately 75 million people died during the last global war. If we aren’t careful, many times that number could die during the next one. PROPHECY UPDATE VIDEOS

Here are some of the highlights of that research:
Well, there you have it right from their own sources. Yet the world, with little compassion for the Jewish people, pressures Israel to make peace with the people who have nothing more than a perpetual hatred for them. Judgment time is coming one day, and that’s what we read about in the Bible—in the books of Ezekiel, Obadiah, and Malachi—concerning the Edomites. Some Bible scholars would say that the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, have disappeared from the world scene with zero trace of their existence as a people group remaining today. Others would identify a very strong relation to today’s modern-day Palestinians. In fact, the late Dr. Jimmy DeYoung traced Esau’s descendants through Amalek, Agag, Haman, Herod, then on through to Amin al-Husseini, all the way up to Yasser Arafat, who was the originator of the modern-day Palestinian movement. While I have yet to verify Dr. DeYoung’s modern genealogical links, what I do know for sure is that the spirit of the Edomites is alive and well to this day. In Genesis chapter 36, Esau’s name was changed to Edom, and we know that he settled in Mount Seir, which is in modern-day, Jordan. When we look at Ezekiel 35, the book of Obadiah, and Malachi chapter one, we read about judgment that’s coming on Edom for their perpetual hatred for Israel. Let’s take a brief look for a moment at those chapters. In Ezekiel 35:3-5, God says, “Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, O Mount Seir, I am against you; I will stretch out My hand against you, And make you most desolate; I shall lay your cities waste, And you shall be desolate. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. Because you have had an ancient hatred, and have shed the blood of the children of Israel…” The chapter continues, “Thus I will make Mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it the one who leaves and the one who returns. And I will fill its mountains with the slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those who are slain by the sword shall fall. I will make you perpetually desolate, and your cities shall be uninhabited; then you shall know that I am the Lord. Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess them.’ although the Lord was there… Then you shall know that I am the Lord. I have heard all your blasphemies which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They are desolate; they are given to us to consume.’ Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me and multiplied your words against Me; I have heard them. ‘Thus says the Lord God: ‘The whole earth will rejoice when I make you desolate’” (verses 7-10, 12-14). I believe that a lot of that is still yet future to come, and it is also what we read in the book of Obadiah. Verses one through fourteen of Obadiah have been fulfilled in the past. However, verses fifteen onward speak of the day of the Lord and what is yet to come. Obadiah 15-16 states, “‘For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head. For as you drank on My holy mountain, So shall all the nations drink continually; Yes, they shall drink, and swallow, And they shall be as though they had never been.'” Those verses correlate also with Zechariah 12:2-3, which reads, “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” The nations and the Palestinians are going to be intoxicated with power over that little piece of 35-acre land in Jerusalem—the Temple Mount—and it says that the nations will “drink continually.” When Israel reunified the city of Jerusalem after the Six-Day War in 1967, they had sovereignty over the Temple Mount. However, Moshe Dayan made an agreement with the Palestinians in which he gave the custodianship to the Islamic Waqf of Jordan. Israel has a police presence and a lot of say regarding what occurs on the Temple Mount. Still, for the most part, it is the Palestinians who say what times you can go up, what you can bring, and what your dress code needs to be. They are intoxicated with power, but there is coming a time when God is going to have His judgment placed upon them for that reason. In Malachi 1:4, we read, “Even though Edom has said, ‘We have been impoverished, But we will return and build the desolate places,’ Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘They may build, but I will throw down; They shall be called the Territory of Wickedness…'” When I was at one of the Palestinian encampments just a few weeks ago in downtown Toronto, one of the posters that they had hanging on a fence was “We Shall Return.” In addition, of course, to their mantra “From The River To The Sea, Palestine Will Be Free.” That’s from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. There is no Israel in that scenario. They believe they’re going to return, overthrow Israel, and occupy the land. Yet, what does God say here in the book of Malachi? Those who say they will return and build in those places will be considered the territory of wickedness. The spirit of the Edomites is alive and well in the modern day. Judgment is coming one day for all those who set their face towards Jerusalem and try to divide the city for the sake of peace, all the while ignoring what God has written through his prophets long ago. When I hear Christians having zero compassion for Israel and instead taking up the Palestinian cause, I wonder to myself, “What Bible are they reading?” Certainly, it is not the one that I have. Maybe the problem is rooted in what Jesus said to ancient Israel’s leaders, “have they not read?” If we haven’t read the Bible, we better start reading because we will all have to give an account one day. We, as Bible-believing Christians, better align ourselves with God’s prophetic plan for Israel, which includes His regathering of His chosen people back to the Land of Israel—not Palestine. As this world continues to put pressure on Israel to make peace with those who wish them dead and create a Palestinian state with those who celebrate and support October 7, we need to be standing, supporting, and showing Israel the love of the Messiah, Jesus. We also need to speak out against anti-Zionism every chance we get. That’s what the command in Isaiah 40:1 of comforting God’s people looks like. While we’re doing that, let’s continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, which ultimately means to pray for the return of Israel’s Messiah, Jesus. Pray for Israel’s leaders to be wise to the schemes of their enemies and that world leaders would turn to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in their decision-making. Pray also for the Palestinians to turn from their hatred before it’s too late. America—Sheep or Goat? – Terry James - https://terryjamesprophecyline.com/2024/06/24/america-sheep-or-goat-2/ Authors note: This article appeared some time ago. American culture and societal corruption continue down a dark and dangerous pathway toward judgment and Sodom-like destruction. Sudden destruction is certainly foretold following the removal of believers, Jesus said, just like when Lot was taken out of Sodom. And that destruction was total, as modern-day archeologists are proving as they dig in near the Dead Sea. But has the final Word been written in Heaven’s pronouncement on earth’s nations, especially considering our own beloved America? I prayerfully hope not. America—Sheep or Goat? Will the United States of America be a sheep nation or a goat nation? That is perhaps a Shakespearian question in the vein of “To be or not to be?”. The question, of course, is rooted in context of the Millennium, at the beginning of which Jesus Christ will judge which will be, symbolically, a sheep nation, or a goat nation—based upon how these entities dealt with God’s chosen nation, Israel. Believers in Christ who survive the horrendous Tribulation will inhabit the sheep nations. All who survive the Tribulation but who have not accepted Christ will be placed in the goat nations, then be cast into what is described as “outer darkness,” and will remain in that state until the white throne judgment at the end of the one-thousand-year reign of King Jesus upon the millennial earth. Our quest here is to wonder just a bit on whether America is destined to be a sheep nation. You can guess without much speculation what I, personally, hope is the answer. One thing that comes to mind in these contemporary times regarding the United States is its magnetic attraction to peoples around the world. This nation might be likened to the planet Jupiter. It is huge in most of the ways human beings see as alluring, giving it the greatest gravity—materially speaking—of any nation-state to grace earth’s surface. God has indeed blessed America “from sea to shining sea.” While all other nations orbit this one, realization about the liberty that is synonymous with the US to worship, move about, work, play, or even just be slovenly doesn’t escape even those kept from knowing much about things going on around the rest of the planet. Indeed, America’s gravity dynamically has drawn all peoples toward its irresistible opulence. With the exception of very few, no one makes noises about leaving this nation to live elsewhere. Billions look in America’s direction as the “shining light on the hill,” as President Ronald Reagan once called it. Even the defectors who sought to dodge the draft during the Vietnam era have since done all they could to come back to the nation they deserted. The Hollywood types—like Barbra Streisand, for example—who periodically threaten to leave America because they don’t get their way, politically, decide to stay when it comes down to the moment of leaving or staying. In southern parlance, they know on which side their bread is buttered. Perhaps to get right to the heart of what has made America the center of the universe of nations, and to try to determine its status so far as involvement in Bible prophecy might be concerned, I would like to consider a well-known historical observation by a man outside this country—a Frenchman, no less. French social philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville, while touring the United States in the 1800s, said about America: “America is great because America is good. If she ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.” De Tocqueville no doubt was speaking of how he viewed cultural and societal good. But, upon observing the nation’s Christian church foundation he encountered, he must have based his conclusion on the fact that America’s goodness in the societal sense was a result of Christianity running throughout the country’s cultural fiber. What he likely didn’t understand was what that “goodness” really means in God’s economy. God’s Word speaks of this “good”: “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God” (Mark 10:18). Jesus was not saying to the man who fell on his knees before the Lord that He, Jesus, was not “good,” but the Lord was acclaiming that God, alone, is the only good. Jesus was—and is—the only “good” flesh-and-blood person to ever walk the earth’s surface following the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden. That is because Jesus IS God. De Tocqueville now looks from the past at America’s once pretty face, and his words of warning are reverberating: “If America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.” America, A Golden Cup Again, is the name “America” given anywhere in Scripture? Of course not. But, the influence this nation has exerted since coming to its full bloom as earth’s greatest superpower in history makes it a prophetic nation. The Creator of all things continues to use America in His mighty hand to accomplish two very distinctive, supernatural purposes. As a matter of fact, the United States, in my view, has an overwhelming presence in Bible prophecy. Its place is at the very heart of the end-times things that we see developing—matters unfolding in daily, even hourly, news reports. In this sense, I am of the conviction that God is speaking of America—in type, if not by name, when His Word tells us the following: Babylon [hath been] a golden cup in the LORD’S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. (Jeremiah 51:7) Certainly, the United States of America has been a “golden cup” in the Lord’s hand. No other nation of modern vintage can come close to claiming that achievement. Some nations of Europe were formative in bringing forth Christianity into the world, thus shedding a degree of gospel light into a world of sin-darkness. But, it is America that, despite its great shortcomings and more recent degeneration, has been a shining beacon, reflecting from that golden cup in God’s hand. Being the first nation in spreading to the whole world the gospel message—that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross makes possible the only way to redemption for lost humankind—is a feat no other country can claim. This, ultimately, has been done not by the offices or under the auspices of American ingenuity, but by the omniscience and the omnipotence of the One holding the “golden cup.” It is God’s grace and mercy that have put America as a beacon of God’s light upon that mountain of gospel dissemination. God’s providence gave this nation the industrial and technological genius—a fact that is denied, or that is so taken for granted today. All of the grace God has shed upon America from sea to shining sea, it must now be noted here, means nothing in addressing the question we are seeking to answer about whether America will be a sheep nation or a goat nation. The United States has been extremely generous with its wealth at every turn. Whether rebuilding war-torn nations far away, such as through the Marshall Plan, or providing billions of dollars whenever there are tragedies to be funded, our country has seemed to be the Good Samaritan. But our largesse as a people also will not determine whether America is destined for sheep-nation status. Again, according to the prophetic Word, it seems national status in this regard is to be based on how other nations have dealt with God’s chosen nation, Israel. It is based upon this factor—US/Israeli relationship—that I have great hope in trying to answer our question. America was chosen by God, Himself, I have absolutely no doubt, to act as national midwife in Israel’s rebirth into modernity. Any true reading of history will attest to this reality. The revisionists, the Marxists, the evil from the mind of Satan cannot change this fact. America, despite its egregious acts of late against the God of Heaven, has been friend and protector of the fledgling Jewish state as it entered again as a nation at mid-twentieth century. Will America face God’s judgment? Again, there can be no doubt. We have allowed the murder of more than sixty million children in their mothers’ wombs, just as a start on listing the absolute wickedness we have seen recently. God will judge this nation. But there will be a glorious rebirth for America, I’m believing, once its sins are purged and the Lord again counts our nation as “good.” Daily Jot: Illegal Immigration, crime and the Bible - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com It seems there is headline after headline about the rape, murder and other violent crimes perpetrated by illegal immigrants—not only in America, but in Europe as well. The Biden border security issue is a driving force in the presidential election campaign. In essence, there appears to be no border security. An April 2024 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report estimates that during the two-year time frame from 2020-2022, the “unauthorized immigrant” population grew from 10.5 million to 11.6 million, but admits there is no accurate count available. Likewise, official up-to-date government statistics on illegal immigrant violent crime also are not available. So what is the truth? First, there is a cost to each taxpayer for illegals entering the country. The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) estimates that there are over 3.000 illegal border crossings per day. FAIR estimates the illegal alien population much higher than DHS at 15.5-16.8 million. FAIR says “illegal aliens and their U.S.-born children impose a net annual cost of $150.6 billion on American taxpayers as of the beginning of 2023.” Biden’s “catch and release” policy has backlogged immigration court dockets, FAIR says, by 2.1 million, as 66% increase over the last year of the Trump administration, with thousands untraceable due to the policy. FY 2014 US Sentencing Commission data—which has not been updated according to the USSC website—indicates that of 74,911 sentencing cases, citizens accounted for 43,479 (or 58.0%), illegal immigrants accounted for 27,505 (or 36.7%), legal immigrants made up 3,017 (or 4.0%), and the remainder (about 1%) were cases in which the offender was either extradited or had an unknown status. Illegal immigrants represented 16.8% of drug trafficking cases, 20.0% of kidnapping/hostage taking, 74.1% of drug possession, 12.3% of money laundering, and 12.0% of murder convictions. These statistics underscore that the alleged murder of a San Francisco woman by an illegal alien with a criminal record is no isolated incident, but exacerbated by government refusal to enforce immigration laws. The federal government’s line, as repeated by the mainstream media, is that US-born citizens are twice as likely to be arrested for violent crimes. Those stats are at least six years old and do not account for convictions. The Bible is very clear about how to handle immigrants. Exodus 22:21 says, “You shall neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him.” In context, Exodus 12:49 says, “One law shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the foreigner who sojourns among you.” Both are repeated in Numbers and Leviticus. One law for all. In this context it is God’s law, but these people neither want to submit to the laws of the nation or to God’s laws. If they are here illegally, they have broken the law as their first act. Hard as it is, policymakers must address this, otherwise our country is in danger of becoming a lawless society. They were flawed. They weren’t super Christians. Yes, they prayed fervently. Yes, they prayed together. But sometimes, they also prayed with an element of doubt. Clearly there is a place for faith in our prayers. And on many occasions, we hinder our own prayers because we don’t pray with any faith whatsoever. However, that doesn’t mean faith is a force to harness so that we can simply speak things into existence. Remember, when Jesus taught the disciples to pray, He said, “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10 NLT). Even Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine” (Luke 22:42 NLT). Don’t ever be afraid to pray, “Not my will but Yours be done.” There is a place for faith. But even if your faith is weak, come with as much faith as you have. The Bible tells the story of a man who had a demon-possessed son. He came to Jesus, pleading with Him to touch his child. He said, “Have mercy on us and help us, if you can” (Mark 9:22 NLT). Jesus replied, “What do you mean, ‘If I can’? . . . Anything is possible if a person believes” (verse 23 NLT). The desperate father cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (verse 24 NLT). This man’s faith was good enough for God because Jesus responded to his cry and healed his son. He was honest and admitted that he had his moments of doubt. But he brought as much faith as he could and put it into action. When Herod Agrippa threw Peter in prison, the Bible tells us that the church prayed earnestly for his deliverance. In Acts 12:6, we read, “The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers” (NLT). Peter probably was the only Christian in Jerusalem who slept that night because everyone else was praying. But God heard their prayers and sent an angel to rescue Peter from his prison cell. How things changed because of powerful prayer. At the beginning of Acts 12, we see a seemingly all-powerful Herod wreaking havoc on the church. On the other side, we see the church turning to God in prayer. Yet at the end of Acts 12, Herod is dead, Peter is free, and the word of God is triumphing. Verses 23–24 tell us, “Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. . . . Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers.” God always will have the last word. Never underestimate the power of prayer.
