When Churches Dismiss Bible Prophecy - They Do So to Their Own Detriment - By David R. Reagan - https://www.raptureready.com/2024/07/06/when-churches-dismiss-bible-prophecy-by-david-r-reagan/
Although prophecy constitutes almost one-third of the Bible, its importance is constantly downplayed by those who dismiss it as having no practical significance or by those who object to it on the grounds that it is a “fad” that takes people’s eyes off Jesus. Such cavalier dismissals of Bible prophecy fly in the face of scriptures like Revelation 19:10 , which says that “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Thus, if prophecy is properly taught, there is no reason for it to divert anyone’s attention away from Jesus. In fact, it should serve to emphasize the centrality of Jesus. Is prophecy practical? Consider that all the New Testament writers testify to the fact that living with the anticipation of the Lord’s return will motivate holy living. What could be more practical than that? Here’s the way the Apostle John put it: “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not been manifested as yet what we will be. We know that when He is manifested, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1 John 3:2-3). Prophecy does not have to be either faddish, other-worldly, or impractical if taught properly. Nor does it have to be a playground for fanatics. It can and should be green pastures for disciples. Reasons for Study There are many reasons why all believers should be interested in studying Bible prophecy. Some of the more important ones are listed below: 1) The Quantity — One-fourth to one-third of the Bible is prophetic in nature. In the Old Testament, this includes the Psalms, the Major and Minor Prophets, and many passages in the historical books. In the New Testament, entire books like 1 & 2 Thessalonians and Revelation are devoted to prophecy, as are major passages like Matthew 24 and 1 Peter 3. To ignore Bible prophecy is to ignore a significant portion of God’s Word, and we are told in 2 Timothy 3:16 that “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness” — and that certainly includes Bible prophecy. 2) The Uniqueness — No other book in the world contains fulfilled prophecies. This includes the sayings of Buddha and Confucius, the Koran, the Hindu Vedras, and the Book of Mormon. And it certainly includes the ridiculous nonsensical quatrains of Nostradamus. In contrast, the Bible contains hundreds of specific prophecies that have already been fulfilled — prophecies about towns, cities, nations, empires, and political leaders, as well as prophecies about the Messiah. Consider, for example, the prophecy in the book of Isaiah that a man named Cyrus would be the one who would release the children of Israel from Babylonian captivity (Isaiah 44:28). And that is exactly what happened 142 years later (Ezra 1:1-3). 3) Validator of Scripture — Fulfilled prophecy is one of the best evidences I know of that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. As I stated above, the Bible contains hundreds of fulfilled secular prophecies pertaining to cities, nations, empires, and individuals. Isaiah prophesied that Babylon would fall to the Medes and Persians (Isaiah 13:17-20). Jeremiah predicted the Babylonian captivity of the Jews would last 70 years (Jeremiah 25:11-12). Daniel outlined in advance the precise order of four great Gentile empires (Daniel 2 and 7). The destruction of both Judah and Israel was foretold by Moses (Deuteronomy 28 and 29). In the New Testament, Jesus predicted the complete destruction of Jerusalem 40 years before it actually occurred (Luke 21:6). 4) Validator of Jesus — The prophetic scriptures validate Jesus as who He said He was — namely, God in the flesh. The Bible contains more than 300 prophecies about the First Coming of Jesus, but some of these are repetitive. There are actually 109 separate and distinct prophecies concerning the First Coming, and all of them were literally fulfilled. Every aspect of the life of Jesus was prophesied — the place of His birth, the nature of His birth, the quality of His ministry, the purpose of His life, and the agony of His death. Consider, for example, the prophecy in Psalm 22:16 that the Messiah’s hands and feet would be pierced. That prophecy was written by David about a thousand years before the birth of Jesus. It was written at a time when the only form of capital punishment among the Jewish people consisted of stoning. The literal fulfillment of so many prophecies in the life of one individual transcends any mere coincidence and serves to validate that Jesus was who He said He was — the divine Son of God. 5) Revealer of the Future — Prophecy serves to tell us some things that God wants us to know about the future (Deuteronomy 29:29 and Amos 3:7). God does not want us to know everything about the future, but there are some things we must know if we are to have a dynamic hope. Thus, prophecy assures us that Jesus is coming back, that He will resurrect us, and that He will take us to live forever with Him and God the Father. In this regard, Peter likens prophecy to “a lamp shining in a dark place” (2 Peter 1:19). Paul makes the same point in 1 Corinthians, chapter 2. He begins by observing that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has the mind of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” But, in the next verse, Paul says those things have been revealed to us by God through His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). 6) Tool of Evangelism — Prophecy can be used as a very effective tool of evangelism, as illustrated in the story of Philip and the Eunuch (Acts 8:26ff). Philip used Isaiah’s great suffering lamb passage (Isaiah 53) to teach that Jesus is the Lamb who was slain for the sins of the world. Matthew and Peter both used fulfilled prophecy in the life of Jesus as one of their basic evangelistic tools. In fact, Peter referred to prophecy constantly in his first gospel sermon on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:14-39). He preached that Jesus had been crucified and resurrected in fulfillment of Hebrew prophecies. Later, Peter referred to fulfilled prophecy as one of the greatest evidences that Jesus was truly the Son of God (2 Peter 1:16-19). 7) Tool of Moral Teaching — People often overlook the fact that the Hebrew prophets were forth-tellers as well as foretellers. In fact, the prophets spent most of their time using God’s Word to spotlight societal problems. They called their listeners to repentance, true worship, justice, and personal holiness. One of the great recurring themes of the prophets is that “obedience is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:22 and Hosea 6:6). That statement means that in God’s eyes, obedience to His commands is more important than outward religious practices such as offering sacrifices. Prophecy is thus a great repository of moral teaching, and those moral principles are still relevant today. (See Amos 5:21-24; Micah 6:8; and Isaiah 58:3-9.) 8) Generator of Spiritual Growth — Prophetic knowledge encourages patient waiting (James 5:7-8), provokes earnest watching (Matthew 24:36,42), inspires dedicated work (2 Timothy 4:7-8), and enhances our hope (Titus 2:11-14). The result is holy living. Paul exhorts us to “behave properly as in the day” because the time is at hand when the Lord will return (Romans 13:12-13). Likewise, Peter calls us to gird up our minds and be sober and holy as we look forward to the revelation of Jesus (1 Peter 1:13-15). 9) Understanding of Current Events — The Bible contains detailed prophecies about the end times we are living in, and there is just no way to fully understand much of what is happening today apart from those prophecies. Three characteristics of our day and time immediately come to mind: the intensifying decay of society, the growing apostasy in the Church, and the escalating crisis in the Middle East. All three of these situations are prophesied in detail in the Bible. We are told that society will become as violent and immoral as it was in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37-39), that the Church will be assaulted with “doctrines of demons” (1 Timothy 4:1), and that all the nations of the world will come against Israel over the issue of who will control Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:2-3). 10) Signifier of the Season — One of the most exciting reasons for studying Bible prophecy is that it provides very definite signs that we are to watch for, which will signify the season of the Lord’s return. It is true that we cannot know the date, but the Bible makes it clear that we can know the season if we are aware of the signs that we are to look for. The Apostle Paul made this point in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 when he wrote: “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, ‘Peace and safety!’ then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman who is pregnant, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief, for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be awake and sober” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6). According to this passage, Jesus is coming like “a thief in the night” for the world, but those of us who are “sons of light” — that is, those of us who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit — should not be surprised when the Lord returns because God’s Word gives us signs to watch for. Paul made the same point again in Hebrews 10:25 where he admonished believers to not forsake the assembling of the saints, especially “as you see the day drawing near.” What day? He defines it in verse 27 as the day of judgment. So, Paul is making the point here that there are signs we can watch for that will clearly identify the fact that we are living in the season of the Lord’s return. Jesus made the same point in His Olivet Discourse, as recorded in Matthew 24. After specifying many end-time signs, He said, “When you see all these things, recognize that He [Jesus] is near, right at the door” (Matthew 24:33). Spiritual Food God’s Prophetic Word is food for our spiritual growth. We need to take it off the shelf, open it up, and feast upon it — and we need to do so with believing hearts. The book of Revelation promises blessings to those who read it (or hear it read) and who obey it (Revelation 1:3). It is the only book of the Bible to promise such a specific blessing, but all God’s Word is designed to bless us spiritually (Psalm 119), and that includes the Prophetic Word. Bible prophecy, properly taught, can literally transform a person and a congregation. This will happen if the person or congregation can be convinced of two things regarding prophecy: 1) Jesus is returning, and 2) His return could occur at any moment. Regarding the first point, most Christians believe with their minds that Jesus is returning, but they do not believe with their hearts, and therefore their belief has no impact on their behavior. Regarding the second point, most Christians are unaware that the return of Jesus will be in two stages — first, the Rapture, and then the Second Coming. Because they know little or nothing about the Rapture, they have no understanding that the Lord could truly return at any moment. They believe that many prophecies — like the preaching of the Gospel to the whole world — must be fulfilled before the Lord can return; when the truth of the matter is that there is not one prophecy that must be fulfilled for the Rapture to occur. Again, if a person or congregation can truly be convinced that Jesus is returning any moment, they will be transformed because they will be motivated to share the Gospel with others and to commit their lives to holiness. A commitment to evangelism and holiness! What more could a pastor hope for? Bible prophecy does not just relate to the future. It has an important spiritual relevance to the way we live our lives in the present. Fishing for Gog – Terry James - https://terryjamesprophecyline.com/2024/07/08/fishing-for-gog-2/ There continues to be a great deal of conjecture about whether the current Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, is Gog, the evil person who will lead the Gog-Magog attack against Israel as prophesied by Ezekiel in chapters 38 and 39. Mr. Putin certainly seems to fit the profile in many ways. While the world of Bible prophecy watchers looks intensively at the current Russian leader, fishing to understand if he, Putin, is indeed that biblically foretold character, it is absolutely assured that God’s Word says He has what it will take to deal with whoever Gog turns out to be. Here is what the Lord says: And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet. (Ezekiel 38:1–5) So God Himself will go fishing at exactly the right time for this voracious would-be destroyer of God’s chosen nation, Israel. He will “hook” this barracuda-like leader of Rosh (Russia) in his jaw. The Lord will jerk Gog back into the direction He wants this Satan-spawned leader to go. The Lord will be in total control at all times during this attack on Israel–just as He is always totally in control. We who observe and seek to understand these times so obviously near the Rapture of the Church can’t know for certain who this big, prophetic fish named Gog is. I believe the Church will be in Heaven, called into the clouds of Glory by God the Son–the Lord Jesus—before that great Gog-Magog battle is launched. The Gog leader is apparently called so because “Gog” is the designation for a demon spirit that will inhabit the Russian leader at the time God puts the “hook” into the jaws. So it is, to me, at least, not possible to say for certain who Gog will be in terms of his given name. Again, Vladimir Putin seems to have many of the characteristics attributed to the one who will be Gog. Here is what Joel Rosenberg, a well-known Christian-Jewish writer, has to say in the matter: Over the years, people have asked me if Putin might be the Russian dictator referred to as “Gog” in the Biblical prophecies of “Gog and Magog” in Ezekiel 38—39…. Here’s my quick answer: It’s too soon to draw such a conclusion. There’s much more that would have to happen to indicate that Putin was the “Gog” of Bible prophecy. But there’s no question in my mind that Putin is Gog-esque. He is dangerous, and both Israel and the West should keep a close and wary eye on him, especially given all that Putin has done to build a strategic alliance between Russia and Iran and the other countries mentioned in the ‘Gog and Magog’ prophecies. The Lord has always seemed to have a special interest in fishing. He started building His Church on the concept of fishing. Remember the earliest signs used by Christians in expressing their relationship to Christ was the symbol of a fish. Jesus first called men from the shores of Galilee while they were fishing. He told them He would make them “fishers of men.” He certainly did so. And we can be assured that God will follow up by putting the “hook” in the jaw of the one He calls Gog, whether it’s Mr. Putin or some other Russian leader. But, as my great friend Chuck Missler used to say: “We will be watching from the Heavenly mezzanine.” Even so, come Lord Jesus. PROPHECY UPDATE VIDEOS

In October They Will Discuss “Mass Fatality Management Planning” - by Michael Snyder - https://endoftheamericandream.com/during-the-international-bird-flu-summit-in-washington-d-c-in-october-they-will-discuss-mass-fatality-management-planning/ We are being told that it is just a matter of time before there is a bird flu pandemic among humans. We are also being told that the death rate during such a pandemic could be “somewhere between 25 and 50 percent”, and that should deeply alarm all of us. We have already seen the intense fear that a pandemic with a death rate of far less than 1 percent can cause. Can you imagine what a pandemic with a death rate of “somewhere between 25 and 50 percent” would look like? Many of us don’t even want to think about going through another major pandemic. But one may be coming anyway. Right now, many among the elite are deeply focused on the threat that the bird flu poses. An “International Bird Flu Summit” will be held in Washington D.C. from October 2nd to October 4th, and according to the official brochure for the event they will be discussing “a highly virulent strain of bird flu affecting both cattle and humans”… Welcome to the International Bird Flu Summit, where we address the pressing concerns surrounding the recent developments in avian influenza. With the emergence of a highly virulent strain of bird flu affecting both cattle and humans, it is imperative that we come together to discuss preparedness, response strategies, and the future implications of this evolving situation. A bird flu pandemic would be far worse than anything that we have been through so far. On the list of topics for this summit, the very first one is “mass fatality management planning”…
Personally, I have never heard a talk on mass fatality management planning. I don’t suppose that such a talk would be especially cheerful. Unfortunately, if H5N1 starts spreading widely among humans, there will be a lot of deaths. Former CDC director Robert Redfield recently told NewsNation that he believes that a bird flu pandemic is coming and that the death rate will be “somewhere between 25 and 50 percent”… A bird flu pandemic is inevitable – and it’s only a matter of time before it strikes, according to former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield. Redfield’s comments come amid mounting concerns over the detection of the virus in dozens of cattle herds across the United States and the first reported human death in Mexico. In a recent interview with NewsNation, Redfield expressed his belief that a bird flu pandemic is a high likely. “I really do think it’s very likely that we will, at some time,” he said. “It’s not a question of if; it’s more of a question of when we will have a bird flu pandemic.” He emphasized the significant mortality rate associated with the virus, with an estimation of a mortality rate of “somewhere between 25 and 50 percent,” in contrast to the 0.6 percent death rate observed in the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the past two years, we have already seen more than 100 million birds get wiped out. And now mammals all over the planet are getting infected in large numbers. So far, very few humans have caught the disease, and we should be very thankful for that. But in early July we did learn that a farm worker has become the fourth confirmed case here in the United States… A Colorado dairy farm worker is the nation’s fourth person to test positive for the highly contagious H5N1 bird flu virus, the Centers for Disease Control announced Wednesday. The infected worker is employed on a dairy farm where cows tested positive for H5N1 and is the first person in Colorado to be infected by the bird flu. The other three people who also have tested positive for the bird flu also work on dairy farms where cows tested positive for the virus. Should we start bracing ourselves for the worst? I don’t know. One recent study that was conducted on “humanized mice” and ferrets produced some very chilling results… Researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, and two Japanese universities studied how H5N1 has evolved since the March outbreak by infecting humanized mice and ferrets in experiments funded by the National Institutes of Health. Ferrets develop similar respiratory tract infections to humans and develop similar clinical symptoms, making them good models for understanding flu transmission patterns. When infected by directly inserting virus particles into their noses, both mice and ferrets developed respiratory symptoms. But even though H5N1 has mutated in alarming ways, right now there is no evidence that human to human transmission is taking place. Unfortunately, authorities in some countries are not taking any chances and have started to implement measures that are quite dramatic… Workers at poultry and fur farms in Finland will, in the coming days, receive vaccines against bird flu. Fourteen other eu countries have signed up to procure bird-flu vaccines through a programme set up by the European Commission. America’s government has also bought vaccines in anticipation of a pandemic. And it recently commissioned Moderna, a pharmaceutical company, to create an mrna bird-flu vaccine using a technology that was effective in protecting against covid-19. Hopefully nothing will happen. Hopefully there will not be a bird flu pandemic. Because after all of the pain and suffering that the last one caused, most of us don’t want to ever go through something like that ever again. Sadly, we live at a time when scientists are playing around with the most deadly bugs ever known to humanity in secret labs all over the planet. And once a bug gets loose, it can spread across the globe in the blink of an eye. As my regular readers already know, I believe that worldwide pestilences will be a major theme during the years that are ahead of us. I don’t know if the bird flu will be one of those pestilences, but I will be watching it very carefully. Because once widespread human to human transmission of the bird flu is confirmed, everything will change. We May Face Mockery, But Jesus Will Reward Our Watchfulness – By Jonathan Brentner - https://harbingersdaily.com/we-may-face-mockery-but-jesus-will-reward-our-watchfulness/ What is the most ridiculed biblical belief of our day? Is it not our expectation of Jesus’ imminent appearing to take us home to Heaven? Sadly, the mocking of our “blessed hope” comes primarily from fellow believers. The most troublesome source of scoffing for me has come from pastors who claim to believe in the inerrancy and inspiration of Scripture. A few of them let me know that expressions of belief in the pre-Tribulation Rapture were not welcome at their churches. The Lord has strengthened me in at least two ways as He has enabled me to weather this storm: First, I have spent decades studying Bible prophecy, which has laid a firm foundation for my hope in Jesus’ appearing. My confidence rests in the words of Scripture. Second, the Lord promises to reward those who watch for His appearing. This is the encouragement that I want to share with you. Our Watchfulness Pleases the Lord After Jesus answered His disciples’ questions about the end of the age and His Second Coming, He emphasized the need for watchfulness (Matthew 24:36-25:13). Such vigilance applies to the start of God’s wrath upon the earth as Jesus portrays this happening at a time when most will be totally unaware of the coming judgments or of His return, just like before the flood in Noah’s day (24:38). Such will most certainly not be the case at the end of the Tribulation. Other passages in the New Testament clarify that for those of us in Christ, our expectation is Jesus’ appearing (Philippians 3:20-21; Colossians 3:4). Paul’s message in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:10 is that the Rapture will happen before the “sudden destruction,” which will mark the start of the Day of the Lord, overwhelms the earth. The watchfulness that Jesus commanded for His followers pertains to His return for His Church, which will precede the judgments of the Day of the Lord as described throughout the Old Testament and Revelation chapters 6-18. Others will continue to mock our expectation of Jesus’ soon appearing. However, such watchfulness pleases the Lord because it not only represents obedience to Him but also demonstrates our belief in His teaching. But there’s more comforting news in this regard. The Lord Will Reward Those Who Long for His Appearing Paul wrote 2 Timothy from a Roman prison shortly before Nero beheaded him for his faith. Regardless of his fate, which he knew was certain at the time, his words in verses 7 and 8 portray a confidence in what awaited him after death: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” The apostle assures us that there’s a crown, a special reward, for those who love Jesus’ “appearing.” Notice that he doesn’t say “His Second Coming” but rather specifies the time when the Lord appears to take us to the place that He’s preparing for us (John 14:2-3). I hear from many who tell me they are no longer welcome in their churches because of their belief in the Rapture. Things are about to dramatically change; however, the Lord Himself will richly reward those longing to meet Him in the air. Those who mock our watchfulness will miss out on this special crown. Christ’s message to the church at Philadelphia implies that, in the end, it will not be easy for believers to keep their eyes on the prize of His soon appearing. In Revelation 3:11, Jesus says, “I am coming quickly. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” This is not at all about losing one’s salvation, which is impossible, or missing out on the Rapture. It’s all about remaining watchful for His appearing until the end. Everything will change after the Rapture; the Lord will reward our steadfastness in watching for His appearing. His special recognition of our faithfulness will replace the mocking that now rings in our ears. More than a Feeling The apostle knew that he wouldn’t be alive at the time of Jesus’ appearing, but he knew that a crown awaited him, a special reward, because of his longing for it. The word he used for “loved” in 2 Timothy 4:8 is the verb agape, the strongest of the Greek words for love. Such desire for the Lord’s appearing signifies a welcoming of it, a yearning that changes our outlook on life and colors all our future aspirations. Paul had the Rapture in mind when he wrote these words in Philippians 3:13-14: “But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Because of the lateness of the hour, many of us will be alive at the time of God’s “upward call.” Our long-awaited “prize” will soon become a reality. I could write pages depicting how the signs tell us that the Tribulation is ever so close and, with it, the Rapture of the Church, which happens before it starts. In fact, the pervasive mocking of our hope is itself a sign pointing to the nearness of our homegoing. Our opponents, fueled by beliefs that deny a seven-year Tribulation, Jesus’ thousand-year reign, and the restoration of Israel, will continue to assail our expectation of Jesus’ imminent return. The Lord, however, will soon richly reward those of us who regard His appearing as a “prize” and long for the day. Daily Jot: The Abortion Debate - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com The debate exchange between Donald Trump and Joe Biden regarding abortion was revealing and was so botched by Biden it may have taken away the Democratic Party’s keystone issue for the 2024 elections. In 1980, Ronald Reagan stated very clearly his position on abortion. In discussing this later, he said that many would agree with his position, many would not agree with his position, but at least they knew where he stood and can respect his stance. Sitting president Jimmy Carter, however, tried to straddle the issue and he lost support on both sides. Trump clarified his position emphatically while Biden stumbled all over the issue and made many false claims. The result is similar to 1980. Trump clearly stated, “Like Ronald Reagan, I believe in the exceptions. I am a person that believes. And frankly, I think it’s important to believe in the exceptions. Some people – you have to follow your heart. Some people don’t believe in that. But I believe in the exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. I think it’s very important. Some people don’t. Follow your heart.” Trump also said he was fine with the Supreme Court decisions on the abortion pill, and states’ rights in deciding their abortion laws. He said he was against the Democratic Party’s extremism, saying, “The problem they have is they’re radical, because they will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month, and even after birth – after birth.” Biden argued that constitutional scholars deemed Roe v Wade was legal, and that it could not be disputed. Biden said that Roe didn’t allow late-term or post partem abortions, but it did, and many Democrat politicians were pushing for it. Biden said that a lot ow women were being raped by their sisters and they shouldn’t have to cross state lines and face arrest to get an abortion. He said, “But here’s the deal, there’s a lot of young women who are being raped by their – by their in-laws, by their – by their spouses, brothers and sisters, by – just – it’s just – it’s just ridiculous. And they can do nothing about it. And they try to arrest them when they cross state lines.” This issue was the one democrats were banking on to win the 2024 election by saying that Trump wanted to take away the abortion pill and exceptions for rape, incest, life of the mother. The issue was slipping away from the Democrats even before the Biden remarks. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey (taken June 18-20 found “that 45% of Likely U.S. voters trust Democrats more to handle abortion, while 43% trust Republicans more. Another 12% are undecided. The Democrats’ advantage on the issue is down from a four-point margin (43% to 39%) in January, and has shrunk drastically since last November, when Democrats led by 11 points on the abortion issue.” With Trump’s clear position and Biden’s feeble fumbling of it, the issue may not be the harbinger for which the democrats were hoping. As is written in Deuteronomy 30:19, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live.” May all Americans do so. Daily Devotion: God’s Never-Changing Love - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly. —Luke 22:62 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/gods-never-changing-love/ - Listen While Peter warmed himself by the enemy’s fire, there was some time between his denials of Jesus. First, a servant recognized him and said, “You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean” (Matthew 26:69 NLT). But Peter essentially told her, “No, you’ve got the wrong guy. It isn’t me.” Later, another servant recognized him as someone who had been with Jesus. But the Bible tells us, “Again Peter denied it, this time with an oath” (verse 72 NLT). Lastly, the Bible says, “A little later” (verse 73 NLT), some people recognized Peter’s Galilean accent and assumed that he was one of Jesus’ disciples. And again, Peter denied it, saying, “A curse on me if I’m lying—I don’t know the man!” Then the Bible tells us that “immediately the rooster crowd” (verse 74 NLT). That brings us to a question: Why didn’t Peter just leave? Think about the last time you faced temptation. Did you leave? When that scene came on the screen in the movie theater, did you get up and walk out? Or, when you were with your friends, and one of them started to make fun of the Christian faith and even mock God, did you speak up? The last time you were tempted to do the wrong thing, did you walk away? Maybe you didn’t. Here’s what happens: You get worn down. That is where Peter was. He was worn down, weak, and vulnerable. He was trapped in the miserable web of compromise. Luke’s Gospel gives us this additional detail: “At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: ‘Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.’ And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly” (22:61–62 NLT). Imagine the scene. Peter swore he never knew Jesus. A rooster crowed. Peter turned. And Jesus looked at him. Jesus said this would happen. But Jesus also said, “So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers” (Luke 22:32 NLT). Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. At the tomb, an angel relayed a message for the disciples: “Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you before he died” (Mark 16:7 NLT). “Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter.” Why single out Peter? Because he needed some encouragement. He thought there was no hope for him, no future for him. But Jesus wanted Peter to know that He remembered him and that He had risen just as He said He would. Our love is fickle. It runs hot and cold. But God’s love for us never changes. It is always there. You need to know that Jesus loves you, even if you have fallen like Peter did. Have you messed up? Here’s how you can get right with God: Return to Him and repent of your sins. And then start living as He wants you to live. America is in more danger of falling than at any time in its history. But I believe Bible prophecy predicts this very decline. From this point on, we believers have to get serious. We are going to face discouragement, disillusionment and, most certainly, persecution in the time between now and the Rapture. But don't be discouraged or disillusioned. The coming turmoil will provide us unrivaled opportunities to share the good news of the Gospel. So be ready to share your faith and your hope with those who need Christ.
