On Oct. 2, 2024, a reader sent me the following that was written by Christine Darg (author and Co-Founder of jerusalemchannel.tv):
 
Are we not near to the calling up of believers and the beginning of the Great Tribulation?
 
The signs of the times are screaming at us that soon the great shofar of God will sound.
 
Some of the signs that caused Darg to say this are:
 
·       Israel is at war.
·       Israel has been attacked by Iran (a Gog and Magog foe).
·       Hurricane Helene has caused mayhem in the USA.
·       The world is trying to deal with biological warfare and plagues.
·       There is worldwide apostasy and persecution of believers.
·       The UN defies God and Israel.
·       The love of many has run cold.
 
Here are just a few more that I keep writing about:
 
·       Israel is surrounded by enemies that want to destroy them (Psa. 83:4).
·       Israel has a great military (Ezek. 37:10).
·       The development of technology to track all buying and selling (Rev. 13:16-17).
·       The rise of world government (The New World Order; a borderless world; Rev. 13:8).
·       A departing from the faith (Pope Francis supports the rise of world government and world religion; II Thess. 2:3; Rev. 17-18).
·       The controversy over Jerusalem (Zech. 12:2-3).
·       Efforts to rebuild the Jewish Temple (Matt. 24:15; II Thes. 2:3-4).
·       The Revived Roman Empire has come back into existence (Dan. 9:26).
·       Hyper-inflation and a global economic collapse (Rev. 6:5-6).
 
Here are recent events that seem to indicate that the end of the age is close:
 
One, concerning a possible economic collapse and the decline of America: on Oct. 2, 2024, Gary Bauer (author, political activist, served in Reagan White House, and much more) said:
 
·       In the last 2 years, the Biden/Harris administration raided $1 billion from FEMA’s budget, money meant for disaster relief like hurricanes and catastrophic flooding (such as that caused by Hurricane Helene on the U.S. East Coast) and spent it “to provide humanitarian services” for illegal aliens.
·       If your blood isn’t boiling yet, consider this: The Biden/Harris administration is bragging that it sent $1 billion of your tax money to the Palestinians over the past year.
·       Adding insult to injury, they just sent $336 million this week in the devastating aftermath of Helene.
·       As communities across the southeast struggle to rebuild and restore power, the Biden/Harris administration has raided our reserve of emergency electrical equipment and sent it to Ukraine. They’ve been doing this even as our own country has been struggling with a critical shortage of electrical transformers.
 
Have you got that: $1 billion on illegal aliens, $1 billion on the Palestinians, $336 million on victims of Helene, and sent a lot of our reserve emergency electrical equipment to Ukraine.

(More: On Oct. 6, 2024, it was reported that many of the Helene victims have not seen anyone from FEMA helping anyone, and they are having to fend for themselves.)
 
(More: On Oct. 7, 2024, Hurricane Milton became a Category 5 Hurricane, the most powerful hurricane to hit Tampa Bay in over 100 years. Gov. DeSantis ordered mandatory evacuations in the areas to be the hardest hit along the West Coast.)
 
(My opinion: I am guessing – and hoping – that Congress will budget some money to help the victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton, but all this makes me want to scream: PUT AMERICA FIRST.)
 
(More: On Oct. 7, 2024, it was reported that Kamala Harris was recently asked if she considers Israeli Prime Min. Netanyahu a close ally of the U.S., and she dodged the question.)
 
Two, concerning the coming world government and world religion: on Oct. 2, 2024, it was reported that during a recent penitential vigil (a confession of sin with a request for forgiveness), Pope Francis declared that borders are a sin against migrants.
 
According to the article, “This falls perfectly in line with his long-standing advocacy for mass migration, reflecting the globalist ‘great replacement’ agenda that some believe seeks to erase national borders and traditional European identities.”
 
God created nations at the Tower of Babel, but Francis views borders as “paths to death” and opposition to open borders as a sin.
 
He ignored the fact that some illegal immigrants are drug dealers, terrorists, hardened criminals, etc.
 
He pushes the New World Order (world government) because he wants to establish a world religion that will clearly be satanic and persecute true believers.
 
(My opinion: It makes me want to scream: PUT LEGAL IMMIGRATION AND LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS FIRST.)
 
(More: A recent Congressional report says jihadist terrorist attacks are increasing in the U.S., and officials cannot verify that terrorists are not crossing America’s open borders.)
 
(More: On Oct. 6, 2024, the Anti-Defamation League reported that there have been more than 10,000 anti-Semitic incidents – 8,015 instances of verbal or written harassment, 1,840 cases of vandalism, and 150 physical assaults targeting Jews – in the U.S. since Oct. 7, 2023.)
 
Three, concerning a possible economic collapse of the U.S. and perhaps the global economy: on Oct. 2, 2024, Moody’s, a highly-regarded credit rating agency, said the U.S. economy is declining, and America’s ability to turn it around is also declining.
 
According to Moody’s, the next President of the U.S. must address this issue.
 
The problem is that the Congressional Budget Office, Congress, and the Biden administration have known this for a long time, and they have not acted.
 
(My opinion: It is enough to make a person scream: WHY DON’T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE?)
 
Four, concerning wars and rumors of wars: on Sept. 30, 2024, Turkey’s President Erdogan urged the UN General Assembly to call for force against Israel if the UN Security Council cannot convince the Israelis to stop attacking Iranian-backed Hamas and Hezbollah targets in Gaza and Lebanon.
 
Five, concerning wars and rumors of wars: on Oct. 1, 2024, Iran fired about 180 missiles at Israel.
 
Israel said Iran will pay a steep price for the attack.
 
The next day, on Oct. 2, 2024, Iran said it will launch a stronger attack on Israel if Israel retaliates for the Oct. 1, 2024 attack.
 
(More: When asked if he supports an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Pres. Biden said no. He said Israel has a right to respond to Iran’s missile attack, but Israel’s response should be proportional.)

(More: On Oct. 7, 2024, an Israeli news station said the U.S. is offering Israel extensive diplomatic backing and a large, additional package of military assistance if Israel will agree not to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities or oil wells. Israel responded that all targets are still on the table. Israel’s Defense Min. will visit the U.S. tomorrow to discuss the situation.)
 
(My opinion: The attitude of Western leaders like Biden is prolonging the war and making the world more dangerous.)

Six, concerning the destruction of Damascus in one night, on Oct. 2, 2024, Israeli jets killed the son-in-law of Hassan Nasrallah in Damascus.
 
(More: On Oct. 8, 2024, Israeli jets struck a residential building in Damascus. 7 people died, 11 were injured, and the property damage was significant.)
 
Seven, concerning the Days of Lot and the moral rot in America: on Oct. 8, 2024, it was reported that a first-grade teacher in Pennsylvania was telling her students their parents were guessing if they were boys or girls at birth and their parents could be wrong.
 
Three moms sued, and a judge ruled that the teacher was breaking the law.
 
Here is my daily update on the Israel-Hamas war:
 
Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024 (Day 362): The three hundred and seventh day of the resumed war. Day 140 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       Israel said 8 Israeli soldiers have been killed so far in the current operation in Lebanon.
·       More than 100 rockets were launched from Lebanon into Israel.
·       Israeli jets struck Hamas command-and-control centers in the Gaza Strip. Several of the centers were operating in Palestinian schools.
·       Israeli troops discovered a tunnel in a residential neighborhood more than a half mile long with rooms and equipment designed for very long stays.
·       The U.S. State Dept. said Hamas has refused to discuss a ceasefire for several weeks.
 
Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024 (Day 363) The three hundred and eighth day of the resumed war. Day 141 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       A terrorist group in Iraq took credit for launching a drone toward Israel.
·       Israel told citizens in 25 Lebanese villages to leave immediately and go north.
·       Israel said it killed Yahya Sinwar’s right-hand man and 2 other senior officials about 3 months ago, but Hamas kept it secret because the truth would hurt the morale of Hamas fighters.
·       Israel killed the Hezbollah terrorist in Lebanon that killed 12 children at a soccer game earlier this year.
 
Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 (Day 364) The three hundred and ninth day of the resumed war. Day 142 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       Israel destroyed a two-mile-long tunnel between Lebanon and Syria that was being used for smuggling and storing weapons.
·       The U.S. military used aircraft and ships to strike more than a dozen Houthi targets at 5 locations in Yemen.
·       The Iranian-backed Houthis said the U.S. will pay a heavy price for attacking them.
·       Following Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah, the Ayatollah Khamenei appointed Nasrallah’s cousin to succeed him. Israel attacked the site where they think he was tonight, and they killed him.
 
Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 (Day 365): The three hundred and tenth day of the resumed war. Day 143 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       Israel said they have killed 400 terrorists since launching their ground operation into Lebanon.
·       Israel believes it has destroyed about 50% of Hezbollah’s missiles, but they still have drones and 60-100,000 rockets that they can launch.
 
Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024 (Day 366) The three hundred and eleventh day of the resumed war. Day 144 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       Israel struck several Hezbollah weapons storage facilities and infrastructure targets all over Beirut, Lebanon, and there were many secondary explosions.
·       Israel ordered evacuation from 25 areas in Southern Lebanon.
·       Israel ordered Palestinians in Jabaliya, a city in northern Gaza, to evacuate before Israel strikes terrorist facilities.
·       Israel said Hamas no longer exists as an organized military force in Gaza.
·       The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) may have been killed when Israel killed Nasrallah’s replacement on Friday (Oct. 4, 2024).
 
Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 (Day 367) The three hundred and twelfth day of the resumed war. Day 145 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       Israel said it will not let Hamas rebuild its forces in Gaza.
·       The Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen fired a missile at Tel Aviv. Israel’s Air Force intercepted it before it crossed Israel’s border.
·       Israel killed 6 senior Hezbollah commanders and 44 other terrorists today.
·       On the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, Netanyahu told grieving family members of hostages, “Together we will continue to fight, and together – with God’s grace – we will triumph.”
 
Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024 (Day 368) The three hundred and thirteenth day of the resumed war. Day 146 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·       Hezbollah fired more than 100 rockets at one of Israel’s largest cities (Haifa).
·       Israel said it will launch a naval assault on Lebanon from the Mediterranean Sea and urged citizens to stay away from the Sea and off the beach.
·       The most senior Hezbollah leader that is still alive in Lebanon called for an unconditional ceasefire today, but Israel doesn’t trust him.
·       Israel increased its attacks on Hezbollah despite threats from Iran.
·       Israel destroyed a Hezbollah tunnel that started in Lebanon and extended into Israel, but the exit into Israel had not yet been completed.
·       Israel destroyed dozens of Hezbollah underground command centers and killed at least 50 terrorists.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024 (Day 369): The three hundred and fourteenth day of the resumed war. Day 147 of the attack on Rafah.
 
·      90 rockets were fired at Israel from Lebanon. 2 people were killed. 8 were injured.
·       Yahya Sinwar is alive and demanding that Muslims resume suicide bombings in Israeli cities.
 
FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6).
 
Finally, are you Rapture Ready?
 
If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

Again, all eyes are on Israel. Shortly after Iran’s barrage of nearly 200 ballistic missiles toward Israel on October 1, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Iran made a big mistake tonight – and it will pay for it. The regime in Tehran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and to exact a price from our enemies.”
 
The whole world is waiting for a response from Israel. Will it be a severe response or simply symbolic? Israel has several options at its disposal—and they could carry out one, a combination, or all of these possibilities.
 
Israel may hit Iran’s oil infrastructure.
 
Iran’s oil infrastructure is the main source of revenue for the terror-funding nation. Israel’s purpose in knocking this out would be to cut down the flow of money into Iran and greatly curtail its ability to keep funding its proxies like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
 
Israel may target Iranian leadership.
 
Israel could possibly set conditions for regime change. We know they have been eliminating leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah. If Israel targets leaders in Iran, it could include:

• The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
• The ruling Mullahs in the regime
• The new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian
• Senior IRGC Commanders

 
All of these individuals could be in Israel’s sights to try to destabilize the leadership in Iran.
 
There was an interesting quote from the exiled Crown Prince of Iran, Reza Pahlavi. The Crown Prince is the eldest son of the last Shah of Iran, who was deposed during the Islamic Revolution. In an interview with CBN, Pahlavi said that he believes Iran is ripe for a revolution. Israel might seek to destabilize the leadership in Iran enough that it could give rise to a revolution that would depose the Mullahs’ regime.
 
Israel may hit Iran’s nuclear facilities.
 
This is the most complicated and dangerous of the options. It’s also the one that is the most risky in terms of success. The New York Times has a headline this week that says, “Washington Worries the Israelis Will Bomb Iran’s Nuclear Sites. But Can They?”
 
President Biden is advising Israel not to hit these nuclear facilities or its oil infrastructure. Now, I don’t think Israel will likely take much heed to his advice, but there are a lot of logistical issues for Israel hitting these nuclear facilities. First of all, Iran is 1,000 miles away, which in and of itself is a logistical difficulty. Israel can refuel planes in the air; however, taking the kind of payload needed to hit these nuclear facilities would add a lot of complications to this kind of operation.
 
The Iranians have been smart enough not to concentrate in one area but to have eight nuclear facilities scattered all over the country. Let me give you an idea of how difficult this would be. One of these nuclear facilities is located in a place called Natanz, which is reported to be “a hardened Fuel Enrichment Plant (FEP) covering 100,000 square meters that is built 8 meters underground and protected by a concrete wall 2.5 meters thick, itself protected by another concrete wall.”
 
These are hardened facilities underground. Israel does have “Bunker Busters” that they can use, but it is worth noting that they would need to drop them one on top of another, further adding to the elaborateness necessary for that operation. We don’t know at this time whether or not targeting nuclear facilities is the road Israel plans to take at this time.
 
Earthquake or Nuclear Test?
 
The Economic Times has an article this week, “Unusual Earthquake Raises Alarms Is Iran Testing Its First Nuclear Bomb.”
 
“On the evening of October 5, 2024, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck Iran, centered in Aradan, Semnan province, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers,” the report continued. “The quake was felt in Tehran, approximately 110 kilometers away, at around 10:45 PM local time.”
 
“Following the tremor, a weaker aftershock was reported in Israel, igniting online debates about a possible nuclear test,” The Economic Times stated. “Many social media users quickly connected the earthquake to a potential covert nuclear test by Iran. One user on X (formerly Twitter) speculated, ‘Iran has gone nuclear since last night. They used the test bombs 10 km below the surface near Semnan to ensure minimum radiation exposure, and it resulted in a 4.6 scale earthquake which was recorded by seismographs.'”
 
“Concerns were heightened due to the earthquake’s proximity to Iran’s nuclear facilities, prompting discussions about its implications,” they added.
 
If that is true, and hasn’t been completely confirmed yet, that would obviously constitute a major acceleration in Iran’s nuclear capabilities. A Wall Street Journal headline reads, “A Weakened Iran Still Has a Major Deterrent: The Nuclear Option.”
 
In the article, it states that Iran, up till now, had two main deterrents: Hezbollah and their ballistic missiles. However, over the last month, Israel has efficiently been neutralizing Hezbollah and has also been able to capture most of the ballistic missile barrages fired into Israel. For Iran, they now only wield one possible deterrent, the “nuclear option.” The regime is likely working overtime to bring that to pass.
 
‘Eating The Elephant One Bite at A Time‘
 
Speaking of Hezbollah, this week, Israel killed two successors to Hassan Nasrallah, the former head of the terror organization. Only weeks ago, Israel took out the terror leader himself in Beruit after he had led Hezbollah for over 30 years. It was his assassination that was the stated reason by Iran for its retaliation against Israel—when it sent the world’s largest ballistic missile barrage toward the Jewish State on October 1.
 
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said: “We’ve degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities. We took out thousands of terrorists, including Nasrallah himself and Nasrallah’s replacement, and the replacement of the replacement.”
 
Israel right now is on a mission to take out this leadership. An article in The Hill this week insisted that this attack by Israel against Iran “will not be accomplished in one large retaliatory strike, but rather a series of strikes building upon one another.” This could be a wave of strikes. One person put it this way, saying that what Israel is going to have to do is “eat the elephant one bite at a time.” I think that’s a pretty apt description of what may be getting ready to take place.
 
Russia And Iran to Meet In ‘Magog’
 
On another front, while Iran is currently crossing the nuclear threshold and awaiting a military response from Israel, the new Iranian president is meeting for the first time with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Times of Israel, in its article “Iran president set to meet Putin for first time as clash with Israel escalates,” reported this high-level meeting planned for Friday, October 11.
 
It will be a meeting of Central Asian nations, most of which were part of the former Soviet Union before they broke away when the USSR was split up in the early 90s. It also takes place in Turkmenistan, a nation that is very closely allied with Iran.
 
It’s interesting to note that these Central Asian nations meeting together are all part of what is called in Ezekiel 38 “Magog.” Magog was the land of the ancient Scythians, a people who inhabited this area in what today is Southern Russia along with nations often referred to as the “stans”— Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
 
So you have Russia, referred to in Ezekiel 38 as “Rosh,” meeting with Iran, referred to as “Persia,” in the area of ancient Magog. All of this while Israel is planning a retaliatory strike against Iran.
 
Many believe that Russia is now helping Iran with its nuclear program. Iran also has close ties with North Korea. The question is not “will Israel strike?” but “when and how will they strike?” The answer will go a long way in determining the extent and the existence of a broader regional war.
 
Either way, the buildup of the “Gog Magog War” continues before our eyes.
 
The Goal of a Nuclear Iran
 
I keep asking myself: how much longer can this go on until the lid blows off? How much longer can Iran be contained? If Iran does get nuclear weapons, that is going to be the greatest existential threat to the existence of Israel since 1948.
 
To me, Iran’s nuclear capability is a clear sign of the impending end. Logically, if Iran gets the nuclear weapons they want to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth, how much longer can Israel really exist as a nation? As students of Biblical Prophecy, we know that Israel will never again cease from being a nation. Therefore, we also know with certainty that, nuclear weapon-wielding or not, Iran will fail in their ultimate goal.
 
Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, to me, just pushes these end-times prophecies forward and underscores the urgency of our times and the need for spiritual preparedness.
 
We need to be praying for Israel and for people all across the Middle East to turn to Jesus, and as their world is shaking, for them to find their hope in the solid “Rock of Ages,” the Lord Jesus Christ. I had a friend years ago that I studied the Bible with, and he used to say, “The darker the outlook, the brighter the up-look”—and if that’s true, the up-look is looking brighter all the time.

Jesus said in His Olivet Discourse, as recorded in the Gospel according to Luke: “And there shall be…upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity” (Luke 21:25b). Now, deep into 2024, it becomes increasingly obvious that peace in the Middle East is foremost on the minds of the leaders of the major world powers. Distress over the possibility, even the probability, that nuclear conflict might eventuate in the region causes perplexity of the most crucial sort.
 
Absence of peace in the world, and particularly in the region surrounding modern Israel, creates at this late moment in the fleeting age a vacuum into which the prophesied end-of-days leader will one day vault to power. Antichrist will climb onto a platform of peace from which to launch his most terrible campaign of conquest. We get some idea of this supernaturally imbued man’s spectacular rise and reign through the Old Testament prophet Daniel:
 
And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many. (Daniel 8:23–25b)
 
A strange, deadly peace is prophesied to serve as launching pad for the Beast, as he is termed in Revelation chapter 13.
 
Paul, the apostle and prophet, gave dire warning about that esoteric peace that will pervade in the days approaching the time of the end:
 
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
 
Paul said this murderous peace will come immediately following the “thief in the night” break-in upon an unsuspecting world of earth’s inhabitants. (Read 1 Thessalonians 5:1–7.) This refers to the resurrection and translation of the saints of the Age of Grace—the Rapture. The apostle, as he did in speaking of the Rapture in 1 Corinthians 15:51–55 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18, used personal pronouns to indicate exactly whom he was prophesying about. Concerning those alive at that future time, Paul used “we,” “us,” and “our” to indicate Church Age saints and “they,” “them,” and “those” to indicate the lost—the unbelievers—who will be left behind when the Rapture takes place.
 
There will be a cry for peace and safety leading up to this time of world-rending intervention by Christ, and an even more urgent demand for peace and safety following that calamitous event. I infer from my study that the left-behind people who “say peace and safety” seem to be saying also that “now we have peace and safety.” I’m convinced this is the peace of Daniel 8:25 perpetrated upon the earth by the “king of fierce countenance,” who will “by peace destroy many.”
 
Today, leaders of the planet’s most powerful governments consistently fret over the boiling pot the so-called Holy Land presents in threatening to again bring the nations into world war. Other potential conflicts—like the increasing military actions between Russia and Ukraine and the nuclear threats coming from Vladimir Putin—add to the fears.
 
But it is the building potential for all-out war between Israel and its Islamic antagonists that has the premiere diplomatic powers that be in “distress” and “perplexity.”
 
Particularly, it is the building potential violence between the Jewish state and a soon-to-be nuclear Iran that brings forth the cry for peace and safety. Globalist leaders meeting a week ago at the UN voted on a “Pact for the Future” that lays the foundation of a “new global order” at the center of which is the declared intention to establish world peace. It was adopted by consensus, but reluctantly so.
 
Like in so much going on these days, God’s hand of derision and restraint was manifest within that anti-God geopolitical body.
 
“No one is happy with this pact,” said Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Sergey Vershinin.
 
Seven countries voted against adopting the Pact: Russia, Nicaragua, Iran, Sudan, Belarus, North Korea and Syria. Additionally, 15 countries abstained from voting, including China, Cuba, Iraq, Laos, Malaysia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. (“UN’s Pact for the Future is adopted; it will serve the same authoritarian and profitable aims as COVID,” Rhoda Wilson, Expose, September 23, 2024)
 
Heaven’s hand of restraint seemed to take from the attendees’ thoughts of working together to throttle Israel’s ongoing military action in defending itself. The leaders of that globalist get-together are frustrated over the peace that eludes all efforts, finding, in particular, Israel’s leadership exasperating—even though it is Israel’s enemies such as Iran that incessantly seek to destroy the Jewish state.
 
But instead of pursuing their collective hate-filled goals against God’s chosen nation, their thoughts turned to self-centered individual interests for the most part.
 
Nonetheless, the globalist would-be masters of the world have solid ground for concern that the volatility could boil over at any time and ignite conflagration in the region surrounding Israel. During the UN summit, Iran’s president raved in a speech against Israel and lauded Israel’s enemies, but without overwhelming agreement from those listening.
 
But Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, continues to declare that Islamic nations will one day watch the destruction of its most-hated enemy, Israel. He is quoted on his website numerous times as saying: “Surely, the day will come when the nations of the region will witness the destruction of the Zionist regime…when the destruction happens will depend on how the Islamic nations approach the issue.”
 
Concerns about Israel’s objection to Iran’s nuclear development and those diplomatic elites’ frustration over not knowing what to do about the threat to regional and world peace might remind the student of Bible prophecy of another predicted situation. The current angst over Iran’s threat evokes thoughts of an apparent note of diplomatic protest that will be issued during a future Iranian (Persian) military action against Israel.
 
Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil? (Ezekiel 38:13)
 
The powers of the West, and even Saudi and others in the Middle East, will send a weak note of diplomatic protest. There will still, apparently, be an inability to deal with the Iranian (and the accompanying coalition of nations’) threat to world peace. The indecisiveness and the cry for peace and safety will ultimately bring the Beast to power. He will have the answers to foment the deadly peace people want. It will be such peace that will serve as Antichrist’s launching pad to absolute power.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched thousands of rockets into Israel. 1,200 Jewish men, women, and children were brutally murdered by the terrorist organization, funded by the nation Iran.
 
And just recently, Iran launched a barrage of missiles at the nation. Almost 200 ballistic missiles were launched toward Israel.
 
Bible students know what’s been happening can have prophetic significance.
 
Israel Is the Key to Understanding Bible Prophecy
 
The key to understanding Bible prophecy is Israel and the Jewish people. This is one of the most controversial topics.
 
When the Jews formed their nation on May 14, 1948, a modern day miracle occurred. More specifically, a prophecy was fulfilled and the prophetic time clock began to tick. It wasn’t just a sign, it was a super sign, because it was all predicted by the Jewish prophets, like Ezekiel 37.
 
Ezekiel 37 talks about a valley of dry bones—effectively a graveyard—and all of a sudden, these bones start coming together and flesh is put on them and they come alive. He says this is a symbol of the nation Israel, they will be dead, gone, and they’ll come to life again in their land in the last days. We saw that happen before our very eyes.
 
God Gave Jewish People Their Land
 
God gave the land to the Jewish people. He said, “See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them” (Deuteronomy 1:8 NKJV).
 
People will say the Israelis are occupiers who have taken land that belonged to someone else, but the Jews are indigenous to this region. This is their land that God gave to them. They haven’t even occupied all the land that God gave them. They are not the occupiers or colonizers as some like to accuse them of being.
 
There are protests with people holding signs that say “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” when the person holding it doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
 
And you may also see signs that say things like “death to the Jews.” There is a surge of antisemitism sweeping the world. You would have thought that after this horrible attack, there would be an outpour of public sympathy for the innocent victims in Israel. Instead, Jew hatred has been expressed. And it comes from the devil.
 
Why Is There Jewish Hatred?
 
Why is there this hatred for the Jews in particular? The simple answer is Satan hates what God loves. This goes way back to Genesis when God told Satan there is coming one who “will strike your head, and you will strike his heel” (Genesis 3:15 NLT). The battle lines were drawn and the conflict began.
 
Fast forward to Exodus where Pharaoh gave the order to drown all the Jewish baby boys. And in Esther we have the order of Haman to kill all the Jewish people. The point is that Satan hates what God loves because the Jews are the chosen people. They are, as described in Scripture, the apple of God’s eye.
 
God made this promise to Abraham and his descendants, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you” (Genesis 12:3 NKJV). I believe one of the reasons God has blessed the United States is because we have stood by our ally Israel, and we need to keep doing that. When you cast your vote for the next president, make sure you factor that in. I am looking for a president who will stand by Israel and the Jewish people.
 
God Is Not Done with the Jewish People
 
God is not done with the Jewish people: “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.” (Romans 11:25).
 
The Jews will receive a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit on their people in general and even on their nation Israel.
 
Jewish people have a spiritual blindness, meaning they are not open to embracing Jesus as the Messiah, but that’s beginning to change. There are now 30,000 messianic Jews in Israel. And Joel Rosenberg estimates there are 1 million messianic Jews around the world, Jews who have put their faith in Jesus as their Messiah.
 
God is at work.

Yom Kippur, is considered by Jews as the holiest day of the year called “Yom ha kodesh (the holy day). This year, it began Friday the 11th at sundown and continued through an hour after sundown on Saturday. Yom Kippur is the climax of the 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur called the “Days of Awe.” It is a time of prayer and fasting, a day to focus on the Lord and our need to get right with Him. And it is the only time God had commanded a fast. The biblical name for Day of Atonement, is Yom Kippurim, meaning “day of coverings, atonement, pardons, and reconciling.” We, too, can benefit from observing this time of reflection, repentance, and reconciliation with God even though Christ died for our sins.
 
Yom Kippur was the one time of the year that the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies, speak the Name of YHVH, and offer the blood sacrifice upon the Kapporet (ark cover). It is a day that provides prophetic insight into the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus), and His High-Priestly service in offering His own blood on our behalf, as said in Hebrews 8:12, “…he entered the Holiest place once and for all. And he entered by means of his own blood, thus setting people free forever.” That was part one of God’s redemption plan, the true Day of Atonement. Part two will be the cleansing of ethnic Israel during Yom ADONAI, the Day of the LORD at the end of days.
 
Romans 3:25 says, that Jesus is the propitiation or atonement, (in Hebrew, kapporah), “God put Jesus forward as the kapparah for sin through his faithfulness in respect to His bloody sacrificial death.” The meaning of kapporah is “atonement,” and that makes us “at-one-ment” with God, because of His love. 1 John 4:10 says, “Here is what love is: not that we have loved God, but he has loved us and sent his Son to be the kapporah for our sins.” Jesus, the Lamb of God and our Great High Priest, fulfilled God’s plan by offering His blood on the cross and “covering, atoning, pardoning, and reconciling” our sin to the Father. To Him be the glory forever and ever!
 
In these days of great uncertainty, wars and rumors of wars, and people running to and fro believing what they want to believe, the challenge for followers of Christ and lovers of God is to remain steadfast and set apart, holy, unto the LORD. Yes, Christ covered our sins with His blood sacrifice that we may have eternal life. But, as the Apostle Paul writes, we cannot use that as an excuse to do what we want irrespective of what we know is right. Additionally, we must be able to discern the times so we do not stray from alignment with God. While Christians are not required to observe Yom Kippur, it is good that we understand our relationship with the LORD, keep close, and often have a time of reflection and reconciliation with our Father in Heaven.

Have you ever tried to talk to someone whose thoughts were obviously elsewhere? It can be a frustrating experience. Instead of meaningful eye contact, you get a faraway stare. Instead of a lively back and forth, you get a few grunts or a noncommittal “Huh.”
 
Have you ever driven behind someone whose thoughts were obviously elsewhere? It can be an annoying, frightening experience. You can recognize inattentive drivers by their erratic lane changes, their unpredictable slowing and speeding up, and their complete indifference to everyone else on the road.
 
On a more pleasant note, have you ever interacted with Christians whose thoughts were on a whole different plane of existence? People who refuse to panic about the trials, tribulations, and persecution of this life—even as the end times approach—because they’re anticipating the life to come? People who prioritize eternal things over temporary ones?
 
Cynics might claim that such people are too heavenly-minded to be of any earthly use. The Bible says otherwise. In fact, believers who set their sights on the realities of Heaven may be the most valuable people on the planet, eternally speaking. Because their priority is to make sure that as many people as possible join them in the life to come.
 
Their focus is reflected in their prayers. They latch on to Jesus’ promise in John 15:7: “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” (NLT). They pray with passion and persistence.
 
Sometimes, we pray for something once, and if that prayer isn’t answered in the affirmative, we conclude that it’s not the will of God. “I prayed for my husband to come to Christ, but he didn’t. So I accepted it.” No! Keep praying! Why? Because you know it’s the will of God to save people. So when you pray for someone to be saved, you’re praying in alignment with God’s will. God “does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent” (2 Peter 3:9 NLT). Don’t stop praying for that husband who doesn’t know the Lord. Don’t stop praying for that wife who needs Jesus. Don’t stop praying for that son, daughter, or grandchild.
 
My mother came to the Lord toward the end of her life. I prayed for her for thirty-plus years. That’s a long time to pray. But thank God that prayer was eventually answered. Don’t give up. Keep praying. Keep thinking about the things of Heaven.
