Regarding the Rapture and Revelation 13:7 - By Walter Grace - https://www.raptureready.com/2019/01/25/regarding-rapture-revelation-137-walter-grace/
Heavenly Father, I'm asking that Your will be done with this post. My "job" is to encourage and educate; not to condemn, and this should be for Your glory. In this I pray; Amen. For one thing, the belief of the pre-tribulation Rapture is under attack, from many other groups that never seem to bother much with each other, but I'm digressing already. Henry Kaiser, industrialist and auto magnate, once said that problems are really opportunities in working clothes. In that context, I've been getting a few questions on this subject, and this is a good opportunity to answer questions and offer some encouragement. What a deal! The question I got - and I'm paraphrasing it - goes like this: In regards to the Rapture, Revelation 13:7 reads that the Antichrist will war against the saints and overcome them. According to this verse we will be here when the Antichrist is here, so isn't the bride here until Revelation 19? One thing to remember is that the Bible is a collection of books with chapters first. The numbered verses came later. While the Book of Proverbs and to some extent Psalms' verses have most if not all of their meaning as a stand-alone verse, this is not necessarily true with the Bible altogether. If you apply the stand-alone verse format to the entire Bible, you will corrupt or misunderstand it entirely. Matthew 7:1 seems to come to mind here. Revelation 13 KJV 13 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. So even if you read this chapter, you might surmise that the church is going to go through the Tribulation because of the word "saints." And the dictionary doesn't do justice to the word either, but a saint is simply a believer. The church (ekklesia) are the believers, the bride of Christ today. Yes, the church are also saints because you can't be part of the church and not be a saint. Matthew 16:13-18 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. This passage is why the church cannot be the saints in Revelation 13. Belief in Jesus as God the Son is the rock on which the church is built, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. But the Tribulation saints will have a much tougher time because the Antichrist will have authority over them. Right now, if you're a Christian, you are sealed in the Holy Spirit. It is Jesus who has authority over you. Because people living in the Tribulation rejected Jesus before the rapture, they are under a different authority and are going to have to endure to the end to be saved. If they take the mark, the only seal they will get is eternal damnation, regardless of what they do. They will be responsible for their own salvation. Again, this is in sharp contrast to the church age today. Hopefully this answers that question. I know many are getting weary, and I can't tell you how much longer we're going to have to wait; but we need to wait regardless and be busy with God's work. When the rapture happens, it will give Satan the opportunity to wreak havoc on humankind. It will also be for the glory of God as He will bring judgment and offer redemption to the lost at this time, including bringing Israel "under the rod." It will also give Israel the opportunity to evangelize the world AND accept Jesus as their Messiah. If I were you, I would accept Jesus while the cost is still low. The Tribulation will be a living, breathing nightmare akin to a slasher movie where nearly EVERYONE will have to look over their shoulder. It will make such movies as Event Horizon and The Purge look like a romantic comedy by comparison. There will be food, water and energy shortages where a good day will be worse than Venezuela's economic woes. Even the first half will be horrible. I've heard some brothers and sisters say they are looking forward to it. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind, even with a strong masochistic streak, looking forward to any of it. The Wrath of God and Satan: When Do They Begin? - By Paul Kocourek - https://www.raptureready.com/2019/01/25/wrath-god-satan-begin-paul-kocourek/ This whole thing of timing the Rapture with being just before the wrath of God at the 6th Seal is "barking up the wrong tree." Proponents of the Pre-Wrath Rapture and the Jacob Prasch Intra-Seal Rapture both depend on using the expressed wrath of God as the determining factor of when the Rapture will happen in relation to the 70th Week (aka the Tribulation). Then to compound their error, they teach a "wrath of Satan" being something that happens at the beginning of the seven years. Revelation 12 tells us when the wrath of Satan begins. It is AFTER the middle of the 7 years, which means after the AOD (Abomination of Desolation, Dan 9:27; Matthew 24:15-16). "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Rev 12:17). So, it is a complete error to say it is Satan's wrath in the first 3 ½ years. Totally false! Secondly, it is moot whether God's wrath starts at the 1st Seal or later at the 6th or 7th Seal. His wrath is already generally expressed from heaven against all ungodly sinners, as Paul wrote in Romans: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness" (Rom 1:18). During the seven years of the 70th Week, that general wrath is expressed in the judgments that start with the 1st Seal. It is Jesus, not Satan, breaking those Seals to begin pouring out judgments on a wicked world. When the massacre of believers instigated by the Antichrist happens after the AOD, then the nature of the wrath of God changes. It is no longer a dispassionate dispensing of justice. Now, it becomes PERSONAL! The wrath expressed in the 6th Seal and beyond is a personal grudge against those who have wholesale murdered His believers. So, yes, it is ALL God's wrath during all the 70th Week (aka the Tribulation), but what happens at the 6th Seal is an INTENSIFIED wrath! It is the wrath of personal vengeance. Paul wrote: "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord" (Rom 12:19). Thirdly, the timing of the Rapture is due to the closing out of the Dispensation of Grace, turning back to fulfilling promises made by God to Israel. The evidence we see for this is the nature of who is sharing the gospel with the world. The Church was given the Great Commission. We are to be Christ's witnesses. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8). The TW (Two Witnesses) are also given a commission: "And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth" (Rev 11:3). The TW perform their ministry during the first 1,260 days of the 70th Week, ending on the day the Antichrist commits the AOD. If the Church were still on earth past the start of the 7 years, what need is there for two special witnesses? Christ already would have (if the Church were still here) MILLIONS of witnesses. After all, we have been given the commission to be Christ's witnesses, and as far as I know, that has never been revoked. Someone might say, well, the TW do miracles. My answer is, so what? The Apostles did miracles. There is no sensible or logical reason for God to introduce Two Witnesses when millions of witnesses are already here. That is, unless of course, the Pre-Trib Rapture removed all those millions, and now there is a need for Two Witnesses to preach Jesus Christ. In conclusion, the entire seven years of the 70th Week (aka the Tribulation) is God's wrath, and as such, He will be pouring out judgment resulting in death and destruction on a rebellious world. It is for the reasons above, plus many others, that we know the Rapture of the Church happens before those final seven years of the Tribulation begin. News from Hal Lindsey Media Ministries - Hal Lindsey - www.hallindsey.com One of the biggest stories -- and surprises -- of the 2016 election was the success of the Democrat presidential hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. An avowed and outspoken Socialist, Sanders was not even a Democrat before deciding to run for the party's nomination. And though we now know that the Democrat party leadership conspired with candidate Hillary Clinton to deny him the nomination, it is still astonishing to realize how close he came to winning it. His success with Democrat Party voters, especially the younger ones, seems to signal a shift in American values and beliefs -- a shift from which it may be difficult, if not impossible, to recover. Why do I say that? One word: Socialism. Garry Kasparov is a former chess world champion and perhaps the greatest chess grandmaster of all time. He is also Russian. He grew up under the oppression of the Soviet Union. He understands the practical effects of Socialism. Something Senator Sanders apparently does not. In 2016, Kasparov wrote this on his Facebook page: "Socialism sounds great in speech soundbites and on Facebook, but please keep it there. In practice, it corrodes not only the economy but the human spirit itself, and the ambition and achievement that made modern capitalism possible and brought billions of people out of poverty. Talking about Socialism is a huge luxury, a luxury that was paid for by the successes of capitalism." In another article, Kasparov continued his debunking of the glories of Socialism, based on his personal experience. He wrote: "A society that relies too heavily on redistributing wealth eventually runs out of wealth to redistribute." He then warned, "Once you give power to the government, it's nearly impossible to get it back, and it will be used in ways you cannot expect." For these reasons, the word "Socialist" was anathema in American politics for decades. Even those who believed in Socialist principles adamantly denied it when confronted. All of that changed with the 2016 campaign of Bernie Sanders. It was a little alarming to see how many college youth flocked to the Sanders campaign. That tells me that they do not understand the implications of Socialism and the impact it could have on their lives. Of course, that's understandable. The Open Syllabus Project did a huge study and determined that Karl Marx's "Communist Manifesto" has been taught more than any other text on college campuses over the last decade. Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and Vladimir Lenin's "What is to be Done" were also very popular classroom texts. The Bible? The foundational book of western society? It didn't even make the list. So if you were amused by what you saw in the run-up to the 2016 general election, or if you've been disgusted by the shocking upheaval in the Democrat Party during the 2018 elections, I have only one thing to say to you: FOCUS! Change is in the air in these United States. And it does not appear to be a good change. It is the kind of change that threatens our way of life and demands our intercession before God on behalf of our nation. And it demands our civic participation. This week, I'm going to discuss Marxism, Socialism, and why these insidious philosophies threaten our great nation. This discussion is especially appropriate in view of the dramatic events in Venezuela this week. I'm also going to tell you how America is rejecting our only Hope. Please tune in for this important program and encourage your friends and family to watch, too. Angel's Food or Devil's Food - Nathele Graham - [email protected] Are we satisfied with what God provides? The blessings from God fall upon everyone, but too often we take them for granted. Worse yet, we become dissatisfied with what He provides and murmur against Him. When that happens we look for fulfillment in the ways of the world. The first instance of this dissatisfaction with God's provision happened in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve had everything they could possibly want, but Satan fed Eve a lie and she ate the fruit which God had forbidden Adam and Eve to eat. What was the lie? "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:5. God had provided everything, but Satan convinced Eve that she could be like a god. This was an all out lie. She was deceived into going after the lust of the flesh (she wasn't satisfied with what God had given), and the lust of the eyes (the forbidden fruit looked good), and the pride of life (she could be a god). This was devil's food. Then she convinced Adam it was a good thing. The choice Adam made to also eat the forbidden fruit brought judgment. Ever since that time, people have rejected angel's food provided by God and willingly partake of the devil's food of Satan. God knew that Adam would sin and had a plan to save mankind. He would shed His own blood for the redemption of humanity. It would take many years for this plan to come together, but God is patient. He chose Abraham to be the father of the Hebrew nation as a first step in the plan. Through his son Isaac and Isaac's son Jacob the family grew. Eventually famine came upon the land and they moved to Egypt where they became slaves. Over the centuries the family that had gone into Egypt grew in number and God chose Moses to lead them from captivity. This nation was to travel to the land which God had promised to Abraham many years before, but the Israelites had many complaints. It didn't take long for them to forget the misery of slavery and complain that God wasn't doing enough for them. They had seen many miracles leading up to their freedom, but still murmured against God. They weren't any different than we are today. No matter how much God does for us we expect more. Because of His love for His people, God provided food. He sent manna which was there each morning. Psalm 78 is a maschil of Asaph. A "maschil" is a poem of contemplation and in it Asaph remembers all that God did for the Israelites, including providing angel's food. "Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full." Psalm 78:25. Food from Heaven should have made them happy and satisfied, but it wasn't long before they got bored with what God provided. They wanted more. Had they trusted God they would have entered into the Promised Land within a few days and been able to raise cattle and crops for nourishment. As it was they chose to act in fear and ended up wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. Even as they wandered, God provided manna...angel's food...for them to eat. Christians can easily fall into this same trap. God provides all we need, but Satan convinces us it isn't enough. That's when we look beyond Scripture and the spiritual nourishment it provides and seek satisfaction in the world. The world is ruled by Satan and he's always happy to feed your lust. Are you a part of a congregation that stands upon the word of God? Praise the Lord! Many congregations today have allowed sin to enter. Be vigilant because even a little sin can turn the entire congregation away from God's truth. Jesus warned against this. "Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." Matthew 13:33. Some interpret this as a good thing, but they are eating devil's food when they do that. Symbolism in Scripture always equates leaven with sin, so when leaven (sin) puffs up a loaf of bread that's not good. There was no leaven in the manna God provided, but angel's food can easily turn to Devil's food if sin enters. Satan twisted God's words in the Garden of Eden and sin entered. Don't twist Scripture to make it say what you want it to say, but stand firmly on God's words as He breathed them to the writers of Scripture. This will keep corruption from sin out. If a little sin is allowed into a congregation it will acquire a reputation of being "open minded". The congregation may grow, but it's no longer a God-honoring group of believers. Everyone sins, but Christian's are to turn from sin. We will never be perfect while living on this side of Heaven, but we aren't to wallow in sin. False teachers bring devil's food into a congregation. "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of." 2 Peter 2:1-2. Feed upon angel's food - the Bread of Life - and don't be fed by Satan's poison. Everyone benefits from God's blessings, but trouble begins when we want more. Christians and non-Christians alike are blessed with food, shelter, and clothing. Too often the ways of the world convince us that God's provision isn't enough. That's when we seek after the Devil's food. It's understandable that someone who doesn't know God can't be satisfied because they seek after the ways of the world. Lust of the flesh can never satisfy and one sin leads to another. More money, more material gains, and more debauchery will never satisfy. In the end none of the lusts of the flesh bring eternal peace. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." 1 John 2: 15-17. Partaking of Devil's food will only bring death, but eternal life comes from God. Where do we find angel's food? Can we find manna today? Jesus is the Bread of Life...the manna that fed the Israelites as they wandered. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:47-51. The Bread of Life is available to us and, like the manna, must be gathered daily. Scripture feeds us the nourishment we need to live each day for Christ and to stand strong against the ways of the world. If we take our eyes off of Him and look to the sin and wickedness found in the world we will begin to lust after Devil's food. When that happens and you yield to the temptation, all is not lost. Jesus still loves you. Turn away from the temptation and from the sin. Turn to Jesus and talk to Him. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9. Eat from the Bread of Life and eschew the lust of the flesh. You have a choice of being eternally nourished by Angel's food or eternally damned by Devil's food. "This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever." John 6:58. Choose to feed from the Bread of Life that only Jesus offers. Daily Jot: Public education failing God and country - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com A recent study by Pew Research indicates that Generation Z, those born after 1996, are far more liberal than Gen Xers and Baby Boomers, and slightly more liberal than the Millennial generation. They believe in more government control, same sex marriage, gender neutrality, climate change, living together, having children out of wedlock, and that the United States is not the best country in the world. Even more pronounced is that Gen Zers who identify as Republican or leaning Republican starkly contrast with Generation X and Baby Boomer Republicans on political issues. Generation Z is far more liberal than their predecessors. Interesting, there is little difference between the generations identifying as Democrats. Pew reports, "Among Republicans and those who lean to the Republican Party, the generational divides are even starker. Roughly half (52%) of Gen Z Republicans say they think the government should be doing more to solve problems, compared with 38% of Millennial Republicans and 29% of Gen Xers. About a quarter of Republican Baby Boomers (23%) and fewer GOP Silents [those born between 1938-45] (12%) believe the government should be doing more. Among Democrats, however, these generational divides largely disappear. Roughly eight-in-ten Gen Z (81%) and Millennial Democrats (79%) say the government should do more to solve problems, as do about seven-in-ten Democratic Gen Xers, Boomers and Silents." Aside from attending Ashland University on a football scholarship (2010-14), our son Christian was also a four-year academic scholar of the prestigious Ashbrook Center, which "seeks to restore and strengthen the capacities of the American people for constitutional self-government." We recently received a letter from the new director of the Ashbrook program. Chris Flannery wrote: "Democracy requires more of its citizens than any other form of government. It depends on the capacity of the citizens to govern themselves. But the habits and dispositions of self-government are difficult to acquire and to sustain. They are rooted in moral and political principles in which each new generation must be educated. It is no accident that history provides so few examples of successful and enduring democracies." Flannery continues: "It is true that our schools and colleges have been failing for many years to teach American history and government adequately. This is a very serious and important failure." We can see from the Pew Research report where our country is heading in the future. It is a direction where the majority lacks godly moral and political principles. We can point to the public school system for this, but ultimately the blame rests on parents. Parents have responsibility for their children's upbringing. Parents also have choices regarding education and local input over public schools. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Parents must be strong in this because even so, their children will be influenced by those who have gone the way of the world. We all must do better for our kids. Daily Devotion: Set Free to Serve - By Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve him. Think of all the wonderful things he has done for you. -1 Samuel 12:24 The great master artist Michelangelo once explained his creative process this way: "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free." Michelangelo could look at a slate of stone and see what would come from it. God looks at us and says, "I know what you can be. You don't know it yet, but I know. I know what I can make you into. You'll be a mighty man of God. You'll be a mighty woman of God." It seems as though God goes out of His way to choose the most unexpected people. When God wanted to reach the people of Nineveh, He chose Jonah. Jonah, however, hated the Ninevites. He wanted God to kill them. So God effectively said, "Jonah, you're the perfect guy to go preach to the Ninevites." Jonah eventually obeyed God, and a great revival broke out. When God was looking for a courageous man to free Israel from the oppression of the Midianites, He chose Gideon. Interestingly, Gideon happened to be hiding from the Midianites when an angel appeared to him and said, "Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!" (Judges 6:12 NLT). I think Gideon may have looked around and thought, "Is there another Gideon here?" If there's anything Gideon was not at that moment, it was a mighty hero. God doesn't see us for what we are; He sees us for what we can become. He sees potential. God has a plan for each of us. He has given each of us gifts and talents and abilities and resources to use for His glory. But all too often, many of us are not doing that. And why aren't we? We offer up excuses, never reasons. There is no good reason for us not to serve the Lord. FROM THE HEART
