Mr. Hawking said that this would endanger humans on earth. It seems that the fears of Dr. Hawking are now being realized. Facebook AI bots Over a year ago, I read an article which stated that Facebook disabled two of their AI bots because they found them communicating with one another and actually writing new code. From forbes.com Facebook AI Creates Its Own Language In Creepy Preview Of Our Potential Future: Facebook shut down an artificial intelligence engine after developers discovered that the AI had created its own unique language that humans can't understand. Researchers at the Facebook AI Research Lab (FAIR) found that the chatbots had deviated from the script and were communicating in a new language developed without human input. It is as concerning as it is amazing - simultaneously a glimpse of both the awesome and horrifying potential of AI. Artificial Intelligence is not sentient-at least not yet. It may be someday, though - or it may approach something close enough to be dangerous. Ray Kurzweil warned years ago about the technological singularity. The Oxford dictionary defines "the singularity" as "A hypothetical moment in time when artificial intelligence and other technologies have become so advanced that humanity undergoes a dramatic and irreversible change." To be clear, we aren't really talking about whether or not Alexa is eavesdropping on your conversations, or whether Siri knows too much about your calendar and location data. There is a massive difference between a voice-enabled digital assistant and an artificial intelligence. These digital assistant platforms are just glorified web-search and basic voice interaction tools. The level of "intelligence" is minimal compared to a true machine learning artificial intelligence. Siri and Alexa can't hold a candle to IBM's Watson. Scientists and tech luminaries, including Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Steve Wozniak have warned that AI could lead to tragic unforeseen consequences. Eminent physicist Stephen Hawking cautioned in 2014 that AI could mean the end of the human race. "It would take off on its own and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn't compete, and would be superseded." Why is this scary? Think SKYNET from Terminator, or WOPR from War Games. Our entire world is wired and connected. An artificial intelligence will eventually figure that out - and figure out how to collaborate and cooperate with other AI systems. Maybe the AI will determine that mankind is a threat, or that mankind is an inefficient waste of resources - conclusions that seems plausible from a purely logical perspective. Machine learning and artificial intelligence have phenomenal potential to simplify, accelerate, and improve many aspects of our lives. Computers can ingest and process massive quantities of data and extract patterns and useful information at a rate exponentially faster than humans, and that potential is being explored and developed around the world. I am not saying the sky is falling. I am not saying we need to pull the plug on all machine learning and artificial intelligence and return to a simpler, more Luddite existence. We do need to proceed with caution, though. We need to closely monitor and understand the self-perpetuating evolution of an artificial intelligence, and always maintain some means of disabling it or shutting it down. If the AI is communicating using a language that only the AI knows, we may not even be able to determine why or how it does what it does, and that might not work out well for mankind. Engineers at Columbia University claim to have smashed one of the biggest barriers in the field of robotics after a mechanical arm, which had not been programmed with any instructions, began performing practical tasks after just a few hours. The team said this is the first time a robot has shown the ability to "imagine itself," thereby working out what its purpose is and how to perform it. Until now, some experts had pointed to the failure to achieve this as evidence that machines would never be able to develop their own intelligence in the complex way that humans do. The robotic arm was programmed with no knowledge of physics, geometry or motor dynamics. It spent approximately 35 hours moving about at random; however, intensive machine-learning computing was going on during this time. Eventually, the robot was able to understand its own dimensions and capabilities. It then began successfully performing exercises, picking up objects and placing them elsewhere. Professor Hod Lipson, who leads the Creative Machines lab where the research was carried out, said: "This is perhaps what a newborn child does in its crib, as it learns what it is," he says. "We conjecture that this advantage may have also been the evolutionary origin of self-awareness in humans. "While our robot's ability to imagine itself is still crude compared to humans, we believe that this ability is on the path to machine self-awareness." The self-modeling robot was also used for other tasks, such as writing text using a marker. Meanwhile, to test whether the self-model could detect damage to itself, the researchers 3D-printed a deformed part to simulate damage, and the robot was able to detect the change and re-train its self-model. The new self-model enabled the robot to resume its pick-and-place tasks with little loss of performance. "Self-awareness will lead to more resilient and adaptive systems, but also implies some loss of control," the authors warn. "It's a powerful technology, but it should be handled with care." The study is published in the journal Science Robotics. I do believe that artificial intelligence will be used by Antichrist during the Tribulation. Could it be that Antichrist's armies will be filled with killer robots? A dreadful thought, but one which is now in the realm of possibility. What a statement on the EVIL in our world when full-term babies are slaughtered like cattle, and the Left cheer for that right. This campaign, which has evolved into an entire force activation doctrine, has seen the Israeli defense establishment employ an approach that differentiates between Syria and Lebanon. Israel's low-profile military campaign against the Iranian-Shiite axis in Syria is continuing despite changes in the geo-strategic environment. But the use of Israeli air power to disrupt enemy force build-up has yet to cross into Lebanon. It is possible that this could represent one of the most significant regional escalation scenarios in the near future. The "War Between Wars" is an ongoing Israeli military and intelligence effort to disrupt the force build-up of the Iranian-Shiite axis throughout the Middle East. This campaign, which has evolved into an entire force activation doctrine, has seen the Israeli defense establishment employ an approach that differentiates between Syria and Lebanon. In Syria, Israel launches frequent intelligence-fueled air strikes that target Iranian military build-up sites. The strikes also destroy Iranian weapon transfers that use Syria as a transit zone on their way to Hezbollah bases in Lebanon. The scope of Israel's preventative air strike campaign in Syria is enormous, as recently outlined by former IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot. Eisenkot told the New York Times that Israeli jets had fired 2,000 air-to-ground munitions at targets in Syria in 2018 alone. This has clearly disrupted Iran's plans to build a Shiite army in Syria under its command, made up of 100,000 militia members. Iran was also planning to build missile factories, launch sites, weapons storage facilities, and a network of cross-border attack positions along Syria's border with Israel. The January 12, 2019 Israeli air strike on Damascus international airport, apparently targeting a depot housing Iranian-made Fajr 5 rockets and other projectiles, is the latest indication of Jerusalem's determination to enforce its red lines in Syria against the entrenchment of a radical Shiite axis. Commentators have eulogized the "War Between Wars," claiming that it cannot withstand Russian pressure and the growing risk of conflict with a reconstituting Syrian state. They are underestimating Israeli resoluteness. Israel's military high command and cabinet are both fully committed to the objective of denying Iran a military foothold in Syria. According to the logic of that objective, the long-term cost of allowing Iran the opportunity to build a second war front on Israel's border, alongside the Iranian attack base already in place in Lebanon, would be higher than any fallout from "War Between Wars" strikes. In Lebanon, however, Israel employs a very different approach. Hezbollah, Iran's primary proxy in the region, enjoys a monopoly of military and political power in Lebanon, with the help of the Iranian Quds Force. The Hezbollah-Iran axis has imported some 130,000 projectiles into Lebanon, turning the country into one big rocket launching base aimed at Israel. This represents an exponential jump compared to the 10,000 rockets that were in Hezbollah's arsenal on the eve of the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Most of the projectiles in Hezbollah's inventory are unguided, and Iran has made a new push in recent months to deliver guidance systems to the group. These would enable Hezbollah to convert some of its projectiles into precision-guided missiles, which could be used to strategically threaten vital Israeli targets like airports, seaports, power plants, military bases, and high-profile buildings. Israel's determination to stop Hezbollah from upgrading its firepower in this way found expression on September 17, when Israeli fighter jets struck an Iranian shipment of guidance kit components near Latakia, on the Syrian coastline. That strike triggered massive Syrian anti-aircraft fire, bringing down a Russian intelligence aircraft and killing 15 crew members. The incident sparked a major Russian-Israeli crisis that has yet to be resolved. The Iranians then appeared to switch tactics, flying guidance components in cargo flights directly into Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport. At the end of September last year, PM Netanyahu and the IDF Spokesman's Unit exposed the existence of multiple underground sites for the conversion of unguided rockets into precision missiles. One of the sites was adjacent to the airport. "Hezbollah's senior members took a deliberate decision to shift the center of gravity of the precision missile project, which they have been working on for a while, to the civilian area in the heart of Beirut," the IDF stated on September 27. Three months after these warnings, Netanyahu said at the end of December 2018 that Hezbollah had shut down these conversion centers, adding that the organization has, "at most, a few dozen precision-guided missiles" at this time. Netanyahu said that Israel's security forces have stopped Hezbollah from possessing thousands of such missiles. These developments illustrate the fact that unlike in Syria, Israel is deeply reluctant to employ air power in Lebanon to enforce its red lines, and prefers to rely on messaging and deterrence through speeches and the media as well as through potential alleged activities that are more discreet than air power. This is an indication that mutual deterrence between Israel and Hezbollah remains in effect. An unwritten agreement between Israel and Hezbollah began to crystallize in 2014, after Israel allegedly struck a Hezbollah weapons convoy on the Syrian-Lebanese border and Hezbollah set off border bombs that targeted an IDF convoy traveling in Har Dov, causing damage but no injuries. Following the incident, Nasrallah said in an interview that Israeli attacks in or near Lebanon would draw rapid retaliation, hinting that this was not the case regarding strikes in Syria. This quiet understanding would become irrelevant if Lebanon becomes the site of precision missile conversion operations. Israel's multiple warnings to Nasrallah and his Iranian backers have delivered that message. Hezbollah, for its part, felt the need to replenish its own deterrence against Israel by releasing a video at the start of December with Google Earth satellite images and coordinates of sensitive targets across Israel, threatening strikes against them. The video included a snippet from a speech by Nasrallah in which he warned that his organization "will respond" if Israel hits targets in Lebanon. The ability of Israel and Hezbollah to apparently defuse the "Lebanese [precision] missile crisis" of 2018 without going to war is no guarantee that they will repeat such a de-escalation this year. It seems safe to assume that the newly appointed IDF Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi, who has monitored Hezbollah's force build-up both as Northern Command chief and as Military Intelligence commander, will remain busy with this issue during his term. For now, Israel has been able to enforce its red lines on precision missile production in Lebanon through the use of deterrence and messaging. It remains unclear whether those same tactics will be effective the next time the Iranian axis tries to set up precision missile factories on Lebanese soil. Fascism is not about goose stepping and military conquest. It's about the centralization of power over all facets of people's lives. Here is the definition of fascism: A political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition. I was going to title my article "Fascism Coming to America," but I don't think that is the case. Because I see numerous examples of fascism in our nation now, my warning cry is that it is here now. Recent action by the FBI clearly shows it has been overrun by "Gestapo tactics." Those are the words Roger Stone used to describe the pre-dawn raid at his Florida home, where 29 agents stormed his house with guns drawn. Stone said the number of agents who were involved was unnecessary because he does not own a firearm and does not pose a flight risk because his passport is expired. "I've been under investigation for two years. I have destroyed nothing. But if I were going to destroy evidence, wouldn't I have done it a long time ago?" he said. "They could simply have called my lawyers, and I would have turned myself in," said Stone. It should be quite clear by now that the FBI is out of control when all these people who worked for Trump have been targeted by Robert Mueller with criminal accusations that have nothing to do with Russian spying. Everyone who has been arrested in the probe has primarily been charged with lying. There is no concern about the whole investigation being a Witch Hunt aimed at Trump because the press and the Democrats have provided endless support to Mueller. There is a mountain of evidence that leads to Hillary Clinton's direct ties to Russian criminal activity. The FBI has worked with leftist judges to use fascist tactics to cover up these paper trails that lead to the Clinton's. On Nov. 15, federal Magistrate Judge Stephanie Gallagher authorized a raid on Dennis Cain's Union Bridge, Maryland, home. Four days later, Cain was confronted with 16 FBI agents who entered and rummaged through his home for six hours. He informed the lead FBI agent that he was a protected whistleblower, but the raid commenced anyway. The documents that were taken from Cain's home were sealed by U.S. District Court of Maryland's Chief Magistrate Judge Beth P. Gesner, a Clinton appointee, who also sealed her justification for keeping the documents secret. The FBI works for President Trump, and he could ask the Justice Department to review its arrest policies. Because Washington has become this giant monster, Trump's hands are tied in controlling agencies that come under the Executive branch. The 35-day budget battle was another indication of fascism in our federal government. The impasse lasted a record amount of time because the Democrats have become totally focused on power. They see everyone who illegally crosses the border as a future Democratic voter. With 60% of Hispanic immigrants eventually becoming Democratic Party members, I can see why Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer don't want a wall. President Trump might as well invoke emergency powers over the building of the border wall. He would have a better chance fighting in the courts than trying to negotiate with people who would gladly let people starve than surrender political authority. The upcoming 2020 election looks very alarming from our current vantage point. The left is frantically focused in their quest to defeat Trump and implement regulations that would nationalize huge sections of our economy. The current crop of Democratic candidates is in a bidding war over who will take the most from the rich. They don't care if they turn the US into another Venezuela. As long as they remain part of the elite, they'll continue to live in luxury. John Stuart Mill is the origin of the phrase, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." I am just stunned to see how evil our nation has become; and yet, the so-called church gives only token objection to moral corruption. Because fascism is an endless quest for power, it produces horrifying amounts of depravity. A week ago, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a state law that allowed for the murder of children right up to the point of birth. Days later, Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam came under fire when he said a child could be killed right after birth. Bible prophecy warns that in the last days all the nations will go down a path of destruction. Each person needs to reach out to God to find salvation. Ezekiel 1:26 (The Israel Bible™) Scientists predict the oceans will grow warmer and turn a deeper blue, which rabbis say more closely resembles the Throne of Glory. In a report published in the scientific journal Nature Communications earlier this week, researchers predicted that the temperatures of the oceans may rise by as much as 4.8 degrees Fahrenheit over the next 80 years. This will lead to an increase in phytoplankton in the oceans, which will make the blues and greens more intense and vibrant. According to the research, more than 50 percent of the world's oceans will shift in color. Open-ocean regions are more barren and have fewer of the phytoplankton and currently appear blue. The researchers predicted that in the future, these regions will become bluer. Colder regions of the ocean, generally those near the poles, currently appear green but will, in the future appear even more vibrantly green. "The model suggests the changes won't appear huge to the naked eye, and the ocean will still look like it has blue regions in the subtropics and greener regions near the equator and poles," lead author Stephanie Dutkiewicz wrote on the MIT website. "The basic pattern will still be there. But it'll be enough different that it will affect the rest of the food web that phytoplankton supports." Scientists have been monitoring chlorophyll levels in the oceans since the 1990s via satellite but emphasize that a rise in chlorophyll may not be attributable to climate change. "An El Niño or La Niña event will throw up a very large change in chlorophyll because it's changing the amount of nutrients that are coming into the system," Dutkiewicz said. "Because of these big, natural changes that happen every few years, it's hard to see if things are changing due to climate change, if you're just looking at chlorophyll." Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman, director of the Ohr Chadash Torah Institute, believes this could be a reminder of things-to-come. "As we get closer to Moshiach, the revelation of God will be far more revealed and eventually totally revealed," Rabbi Trugman said to Breaking Israel News. "The Talmud states that the color techelet (blue) is similar to the [color of ] the sea, the sea is similar to the [color of ] the heavens, and the heavens are similar to the [color of] God's throne of Glory." To illustrate the significance of the oceans in the end of days, Rabbi Trugman cited a verse from Isaiah. For the land shall be filled with the knowledge of Hashem as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:9 "The Rambam (Maimonides) brings this verse to describe what the world will be like in the days of the Messiah," Rabbi Trugman said. "If the color of the oceans turns bluer, a person could understand this as being indicative of a process in motion that is leading to a greater revelation of God's throne, which is symbolic of His aspect of kingship. This all ties together since in the days of the Messiah, God will be universally recognized as King as has been prophesied: And Hashem shall be king over all the earth; in that day Hashem will be One [universally recognized] and His name One. Rabbi Yekutiel Fish, an expert in Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) who blogs in Hebrew under the title 'Sod Chashmal,' connected the oceanic transformation with a specific object: the thread of blue, woven into the fringes of tzitzit (Biblically mandated four-cornered garment). Speak unto B'nei Yisrael, and bid them that they make them throughout their generations fringes in the corners of their garments, and that they put with the fringe of each corner a thread of blue. Numbers 15:38 "The Ari Zal noted that the mitzvah (Torah commandment) of putting a thread of blue in our tzitzit (four-cornered garment) will return coincidentally with the Messiah," Rabbi Fish told Breaking Israel News. He noted that many of the priestly garments used in the Temple utilized the techelet dye in their design. "It may be that in order for this mitzvah to return, God is changing the color of the ocean to reintroduce the color into the world, a color that has not been seen since the Temple was destroyed." "This phenomenon needs to be understood, Rabbi Fish said. "The tzitzit is a reminder of the mitzvoth (Torah commandments). If the color of the ocean changes to more closely resemble the original techelet, then people will be reminded of the mitzvoth, or the heavens, and of the Throne of Glory. This is certainly necessary to bring the Moshiach (Messiah)." Daily Jot: Great of the Union - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com Even CBS's and CNN's polling (always skewed sampling toward liberals) had to tip their hat to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address. The CBS instant poll showed a 72% approval rating on his immigration plan while the CNN poll indicated 76% approval overall. Trump struck a tone of unification from the very beginning of his speech, saying "Many of us campaigned on the same core promises: to defend American jobs and demand fair trade for American workers; to rebuild and revitalize our Nation's infrastructure; to reduce the price of healthcare and prescription drugs; to create an immigration system that is safe, lawful, modern and secure; and to pursue a foreign policy that puts America's interests first." Trump called for the parties to work together, "But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution - and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good. Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America's future. The decision is ours to make. We must choose between greatness or gridlock, results or resistance, vision or vengeance, incredible progress or pointless destruction. Tonight, I ask you to choose greatness." He characterized immigration policy as a moral issue: "We have a moral duty to create an immigration system that protects the lives and jobs of our citizens. This includes our obligation to the millions of immigrants living here today, who followed the rules and respected our laws. Legal immigrants enrich our Nation and strengthen our society in countless ways. I want people to come into our country, but they have to come in legally. Tonight, I am asking you to defend our very dangerous southern border out of love and devotion to our fellow citizens and to our country. No issue better illustrates the divide between America's working class and America's political class than illegal immigration. Wealthy politicians and donors push for open borders while living their lives behind walls and gates and guards." Senator Bernie Sanders bristled when Trump promised, "Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. America was founded on liberty and independence -- not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country." Therein, his entire speech was one of accomplishment and a call to unity. One that set America straight on what he has done, and on the incredible challenge he faces-a lack of unity. Sadly, this obstruction and hate environment will likely continue. As Christ said in Mark 3:25, "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand." At least Trump made an effort at unification and trying to work together, if it doesn't happen, it's on the obstructionists. Maybe they saw fish cruising by in the walls of water on each side, like the best aquarium ever. But they had to walk for hours and hours. It took all night. That is the Christian life. It's just a walk with the Lord. Sometimes there's a lot of excitement in the beginning of the Christian life when we realize what God has done for us. But as time passes, we might start taking things for granted. And we might find ourselves becoming apathetic. If that describes you, then you need to plot your RPGS: (1) Read the Bible every day. You never outgrow it and never get beyond it. God's Word never becomes irrelevant. (2) Pray about things. Bring things up before the Lord. You need to have a prayer life. (3) Go to church. You need to be a regular part of the church. (4) Share your faith with others. We stop doing these things and then wonder why spiritual apathy is seeping into our lives. It's because we're not doing the basics. Let's just say that you decided you weren't going to eat anymore. Here's what will happen: You'll get lightheaded. You'll feel almost sick. And if it goes on for a while, you'll basically start to die. You can't live that way. You must eat to survive. In the same way, if we neglect spiritual disciplines, it won't be long until we'll find ourselves withering. Nietzsche said, "The essential thing 'in heaven and in earth' is . . . that there should be long obedience in the same direction." As Christians, our lives are a walk of faith. We need to keep walking that walk.
