It seems that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (the new Socialist representative in Congress) co-authored what is being called "The Green New Deal." Alex attended an event in Calgary, Canada, where he met the former Co-Founder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore. Mr. Moore had MUCH to say about the dangerous legislation which is being pushed by the Dems in the House. From thenewamerican.com Green New Deal Would Kill Almost Everyone, Warns Greenpeace Co-Founder CALGARY, Canada - The "Green New Deal" proposed by congressional Democrats is a "recipe for mass suicide" and the "most ridiculous scenario I ever heard," Greenpeace Co-Founder Patrick Moore (shown) warned in an exclusive interview with The New American. In fact, Dr. Moore warned that if the "completely preposterous" prescriptions in the scheme were actually implemented, Americans could be forced to turn to cannibalism to avoid starvation - and they still would not survive. Other experts such as Craig Rucker, the executive director of the environmental group Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), also sounded the alarm about the "green" proposal in Congress, comparing it to Soviet five-year plans and calling it a "prescription for disaster." The so-called Green New Deal is a massive scheme to, among other goals, restructure the U.S. economy. It is being advanced by a coalition of radical communist and socialist Democrats in Congress led by U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). A resolution (H. Res. 109) "recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal (GND)" already has 67 co-sponsors in the House. If the scheme outlined in the resolution expressing the "sense of the House" is implemented, it would seek to eliminate air travel, the eating of steaks, the use of hydrocarbons, and more. It would aim to completely end all emissions of CO2 - an essential gas exhaled by every living person and required by plants - over the coming decade. Moore, who was one of six international directors of Greenpeace, was flabbergasted that something so ludicrous could even be proposed, much less be advanced in the U.S. government. "It is quite amazing that someone that is in government - actually elected to the government of the United States of America - would propose that we eliminate all fossil fuels in 12 years," he said in an on-camera interview with The New American from Canada. "This would basically result, if we did it on a global level, it would result in the decimation of the human population from 7-odd billion down to who knows how few people." It would end up killing almost everyone on the planet, he added. Worse than mass death would be the way people reacted. "It would basically begin a process of cannibalization among the human species, because the food could not be delivered to the stores in the middle of the cities anymore," Moore continued. "The point that bothers me the most is that if you eliminated fossil fuels, every tree in the world would be cut for fuel. There is no other source for heating and cooking once you eliminate fossil fuels. You could use animal dung, if there were any animals left, but the animals would all die too because they would all get eaten." Moore also slammed the "social aspects" of the Green New Deal proposals such as "paying people who are unwilling to work," according to a FAQ released by Ocasio-Cortez' office. "I can't believe that anyone would write that in a proposal for law in the United States of America," he said, calling it "just unbelievable." Indeed, that language and other half-baked ideas caused nationwide ridicule of Ocasio-Cortez and others involved in pushing the "New Deal." The ridicule got so intense that one of its proponents eventually lied, claiming that mischievous Republicans might have put out a fake Green New Deal document to make Democrats look ridiculous. But then the truth came out, despite the FAQ being removed from Cortez's congressional website. But the absurdity of it all may be a boost to Republicans and President Donald Trump. "We have a situation where something completely preposterous is being backed by a large number of Democratic congressional elected representatives in the United States of America," Moore said. "This is actually going to put Trump right over the top. I cannot see how this can possibly be negative for him. It can only be positive, because people recognize when something is preposterous. And I think that is the best word for it." "The best term for it is actually mass-suicidal," Moore added. "Why would anyone vote for something that was going to result in the death of nearly all humans on Earth?" As far as what Americans could do who support the environment but not mass suicide, Moore urged people not to vote for anyone who would support the "Green New Deal." Recipe for Mass Suicide Video WATCH: https://youtu.be/hUXKaBbqecQ Speaking at a conference put on by the Economic Education Association of Alberta over the weekend, Moore also explained that so much of what climate alarmists were pushing was pseudo-science and easily discredited lies. For instance, carbon dioxide is actually doing great things in terms of greening the planet - after all, it is plant food, Moore said. He also lambasted those who say coral reefs are dying due to alleged man-made global warming, something he said was not true. Noting that trucks need hydrocarbon fuels to bring produce to market in cities, Dr. Moore explained that just that one problem alone would be absolutely catastrophic if CO2 emissions were ended. Moore has since left the Greenpeace he helped found, because it left him. When the group was founded, "we wanted to save civilization; we didn't want to destroy it," he told The New American. "By the time I left Greenpeace, it had drifted into a situation in which all they had left was the green. They kind of dropped the peace, which was the human side of the situation. And now they were characterizing people as the enemies of the earth - the human species as the enemies of nature, as if we were the only evil species." One of the most outrageous campaigns by Greenpeace, Moore said, was when the leadership - which had no formal science education - decided to try to ban chlorine use worldwide. "Yes, chlorine can be toxic; it was used as a weapon in World War I," he said. "But the fact that it is toxic is why it is the most important element in public health and medicine. Adding it to drinking water was the biggest advance in the history of public health... that has saved hundreds of millions of lives through the time that we learned to use chlorine as an anti-bacterial agent." Nature, he added, is full of toxic materials. In his own keynote address at the conference, CFACT's Rucker - who famously boarded Greenpeace ships to "punk" them with propaganda banners reading "ship of lies" and "propaganda warrior" - explained that much of the environmentalist movement has it backwards. The real key to preserving the environment, he said, is free markets, private property, and prosperity. Poor nations do not have the resources to protect the environment. And socialist-ruled nations have the worst environmental track-records of all. Meanwhile, freer and wealthier nations such as the United States, Canada, Japan, and Western Europe have remarkably clean environments. In an interview with The New American, Rucker celebrated freedom. "What's good for people is good for nature," he said, calling for pro-growth policies that benefit people rather than government-enforced scarcity. "It's like the old Chinese proverb: When there is food on the table, there are many problems; when there is no food on the table, there is one problem. Societies that do not take care of their people don't have the resources to take care of the planet." Rucker, a top leader of the non-totalitarian environmental movement, also slammed the "Green New Deal" being advanced in Congress. "It is a horrible idea," he said, blasting the original New Deal as well. "But I actually think it is more like the Soviet 5-year plan.... They want to be off fossil fuels within 10 years. That is insane. It is not that we are embracing fossil fuels, but this is a government-driven objective much like the old Soviet plans were government-driven objectives. It is going to fail. And the problem is, it is going to take a lot of people down with it... This is going to really hurt people. It is a prescription for disaster." Citing University of Maryland business Professor Julian Simon, Rucker used a hilarious example to illustrate the point. If the ideology of the sustainable-development movement were used 100 years ago, there would be great concern about where humanity was going to get enough whale oil to use as lighting. But of course, since then, electricity and light bulbs have taken the place of whale oil, thereby eliminating the alleged prospect of resources running out. The same concept applies to other resources, too, he said. When the price goes up due to scarcity, people will find substitutes and new ways of getting what they need - at least they will if markets are allowed to operate. "People are not just mouths; they are also hands and a brain," he said. He also drew a distinction between the "conservation" ethic, in which man is included in how to protect the planet, and the "preservation" ethic and the "Deep Green ecology" that views man as a "virus on the planet" that needs to be removed. Obviously, efforts to conserve nature should have the well-being of man in mind, he said. [email protected] The Prophetic Impact Of A U.S. Withdrawal From Syria - By Britt Gillette - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=2982 Back in December, President Trump said the United States will soon withdraw military forces from Syria. In a video tweet, he announced American military personnel are "all coming back, and they're coming back now." He never provided a timeline for withdrawal. However, Department of Defense officials claimed the withdrawal would take 30 days. A week later, President Trump changed the timeline from 30 days to 4 months. And since then, John Bolton, President Trump's national security advisor said certain conditions could leave American troops in Syria for months or years to come. Nevertheless, the U.S. withdrew some equipment in mid-January. So which one is it? Will they stay or will they go? As of now, it's unclear when or if American forces will completely withdraw. But if they do, the implications will be significant. A U.S. withdrawal will create clear winners and losers. The Winners U.S. troops and their allies in Syria currently control about one-third of the country. Their presence provides a check on the actions of others in the region. If the U.S. pulls out, it's uncertain their current allies can maintain control of that territory. In all likelihood, it will be divided among other competing interests. Here are the leading candidates: Russia - If the U.S. pulls out of Syria, one of the biggest winners will be Russia. Russia is a longtime ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Russia's relationship with the Assad family goes back to the Cold War era and the days of the Soviet Union. With vital naval and air bases in Syria, Russia can't afford to see Assad toppled. This is why Russia entered Syria in 2015 with thousands of ground troops and air support. Russia's entry turned the tide of the Syrian civil war. Because of this, Assad owes his survival to Russia. This means, without U.S. influence in Syria, Russia alone will decide its future. The U.S. won't have any leverage when it comes to shaping post-war Syria. This will make Russia a big winner in the Syrian conflict. It secured its only naval and air bases in the Mediterranean. It also expanded its role in Syria as well as its Middle Eastern sphere of influence. Iran - Iran is another big winner. If the U.S. leaves, Iran and Russia will be the most powerful forces left. As Assad's two closest allies, they'll have a free hand to do whatever they want. Iran has long sought to dominate the region, if not directly, then through the use of proxy armies such as Hezbollah. A U.S. withdrawal gives Iran a clear path to the Mediterranean. Iran will have a corridor to transport troops and weapons to regional allies (such as Hezbollah) in both Lebanon and Syria. This also gives them the ability to position their own military forces and intelligence assets on Israel's border. Since first entering Syria in 2015, the U.S. has worked to disrupt Iranian activities from areas it controls (either directly or through allies). If the U.S. leaves Syria, these activities will stop. This will only enhance Iran's power and influence. Turkey - Turkey also wins big from a U.S. withdrawal. Turkey already controls territory in northern Syria. In Syria, the U.S. allied itself with Turkey's longtime enemy, the Kurds. Kurdish forces control large areas of Syrian territory, including areas along the Turkish border. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would love to remove them, but the U.S. presence in Syria has held him back. The risks associated with an attack on the Kurds are too great. Any incident between Syrian and U.S. troops will trigger a crisis. But if the U.S. leaves, all that changes. The risk of an accidental military conflict with the U.S. disappears. Turkey will be free to attack Kurdish forces. The Losers Russia, Turkey, and Iran are the clear winners. But a U.S. withdrawal will also create losers. Two in particular stand out: The Kurds - The Kurds are a Middle Eastern ethnic group living in an area covering parts of northern Iran, northern Iraq, northern Syria, and southeastern Turkey. Each nation has long seen the Kurds as a threat to break off and form their own nation. Due to a long history of conflict, Turkey views the Kurds as a terrorist group and a threat to Turkish national security. Despite protests from Turkey, the United States allied itself with the Kurds to fight Islamic State terrorists. To date, the alliance has been successful. It severely diminished the Islamic State presence in Syria. The alliance has also protected the Kurds from a Turkish attack. All that will change if the U.S. withdraws from Syria. Abandoned, the Kurds will almost certainly face a Turkish invasion. Israel - While the Kurds face a potential conflict with Turkey, by far the biggest loser when it comes to a U.S. withdrawal from Syria is Israel. Removing U.S. forces from Syria will have huge implications for Israeli security. A U.S. pullout means a permanent presence of Iranian forces on Israel's border. This means Iran can directly supply Hezbollah and other terrorist groups with advanced weapons and rockets that can reach deep into Israeli territory. The presence of Iran and its proxy groups in Syria poses a mortal threat to Israel. While Iran could directly attack Israel now, it would almost certainly be destroyed by an Israeli counterattack. But if Iran attacks Israel through proxy groups such as Hezbollah, it can claim it had no hand in the attack. This only increases the likelihood of war. Russia is no friend of Israel either. Russia has a history of anti-Semitism and aligning itself with Israel's enemies. As the region's sole nuclear power, Israel is Russia's key obstacle to spreading control and influence throughout the oil rich Middle East. Meanwhile, Israel's longtime ally Turkey is breaking ties with its secular past. Erdogan is pushing Turkey toward a more antagonistic stance when it comes to the U.S. and Israel. In short, post-war Syria is more of a threat to Israel than the pre-war Assad regime. It's not a stretch to imagine all three of these nations - Russia, Iran, and Turkey - uniting in opposition to Israel. And right now all three are consolidating power on Israel's northern border. In doing so, they're setting the stage for the fulfillment of a 2,600 year old prophecy. Where We're Headed Long ago, the prophet Ezekiel described an invading force that will form in the last days. In Ezekiel 38-39, he describes this force in detail. Ezekiel said invaders will come from the north of Israel, and a man named Gog will lead them (Ezekiel 38:2-6). Here are the nations who will join Gog, followed by their modern day names: Rosh = Russia Magog = Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan Persia = Iran Cush = Sudan Put = Libya Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah = Turkey Notice anything? That's right. The three most powerful nations on the list - Russia, Iran, and Turkey - now reside in Syria. If U.S. troops pull out of Syria, their absence will pave the way for further influence in Syria from these three nations. They'll consolidate their power until every square inch of the nation becomes a de facto province of one of the three. On February 14, the leaders of Russia, Iran, and Turkey met in Sochi, Russia to devise a joint plan to wipe out terrorists in Syria. Their military forces are now cooperating in Syria. This puts their joint military forces right on Israel's border. And not just any border - Israel's northern border. Ezekiel said this invasion force will come from the north (Ezekiel 38:15; Ezekiel 39:2). So now we have the three most powerful nations in Gog's invading force cooperating with each other and stationed on Israel's northern border. Is this mere coincidence? I don't think so. Never before have the military forces of these three nations been on Israel's northern border at the same time. And never in the history of the world, have the three cooperated militarily. Until now... The Bible said this would happen, and here we are. The stage is now set for the fulfillment of the Ezekiel 38-39 prophecies. Eventually, Russia, Iran, Turkey, and the other nations in the Gog of Magog alliance will send an overwhelming invasion force against Israel (Ezekiel 38:8-9). The world will not come to Israel's defense (Ezekiel 38:15-16). But God will. He'll put His full power on display and supernaturally destroy Israel's invaders (Ezekiel 38:18-23). So what does this mean? It means you should expect more and more events in Syria to align with Ezekiel's account. Expect this alliance to get closer. Expect Israel to become more isolated. And expect the other nations Ezekiel cited to join Russia, Iran, and Turkey. Most of all, recognize we're in the last days (Ezekiel 38:8; Ezekiel 39:25-29), and live your life in expectation of the soon return of Jesus Christ. Nearing Midnight: Money For Nothing: The Green New Deal - Todd Strandberg - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/ The new Socialist representative for Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has become a gift from heaven to conservative bloggers. She recently co-authored what is being called "The Green New Deal (GND)." When the document came out, it was widely praised by the mainstream media and a host of Democratic leaders. This plan is bold in calling for a massive transformation of our society, but the goals and timeline are absolutely insane. There is no way they could be implemented with our current technology and resources. Within 10 years the GND calls for us to move America to 100% clean and renewable energy and decommission every nuclear plant. Other widely derided lines included a call for "high-speed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary"; expanding public transit "with goals to replace every combustion-engine vehicle"; "economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work"; and a goal to "fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes." I'm just stunned that such an idiotic plan could have been issued by a member of congress. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should be sitting in a corner wearing a dunce hat for producing a document with such faulty math. The starting cost would have been at least $30 trillion. Economists are concerned that we just passed $22 trillion for our national debt, so it would be pure folly to have a plan that calls for about doubling this number. My favorite part is the proposal to give free money to people "unwilling to work." The Norwegian government just ended a program that gave out cash to people for doing nothing. The trial program found that the free money didn't make people more willing to work; it just made them happier. Sen. Tom Cotton only sees red in the Green New Deal document. He blames the news media for engaging in a "Stalin-like" cover-up of the freshman New York congresswoman's plan. Cotton, a Republican from my home state of Arkansas, said in a radio interview on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" that the document revealed a liberal ambition to "have the power and the control of those Americans' lives to implement their radical vision for humanity." Cotton said it was "remarkable" how many Democratic presidential candidates "had leapt onto a proposal that was going to confiscate every privately owned vehicle in America within a decade, and ban air travel so we could all drive or ride around on high-speed light rail, supposedly powered by unicorn tears." When asked how she planned to pay for her massive program, AOC pointed out that large parts of the Federal budget operated from deficit spending. Her Green New Deal would be an investment that would eventually pay for itself. Steven Rattner, who was an adviser to the treasury department during the Obama administration, offered a rare gift of clear thinking on the calls for massive spending on social programs in a New York Times op-Ed: "Medicare for all. The Green New Deal. Free college tuition. With each new entrant into the Democratic presidential sweepstakes comes a fresh cascade of ambitious social programs to entice and excite would-be supporters. The list of pay-fors, to use a bit of Washington jargon, grows more slowly. They'll pay for this how again? Tax the rich; tax the rich - or take cover behind a convenient bit of progressive dogma: Don't worry about the fiscal impact because America's rising budget deficits and debt levels don't much matter. "That's a scary drift of thought, and it should set off alarm bells for all Americans. Vast increases in debt will ultimately compromise Washington's ability to maintain its current array of spending programs, let alone add new ones, and threaten our standard of living." Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., made a brilliant political move by announcing he's bringing the Green New Deal resolution to a vote. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass, one of the co-authors of the plan, said the vote was "nothing but an attempt to sabotage the movement we are building." Markey doesn't want a vote on his sprawling blueprint for the future because he knows voters would reject its massive cost. It would be easy to say that the Green New Deal is just another example of how the world has become overrun with madness and ignorance. It is an exercise in buffoonery, but evil is the primary driving force. The Democrats don't care if the math doesn't work for their plan. They want the power it gives them. Any hint of doubt is smothered in deception and lies. By the time they've convinced the public to join their side, they've completely lost track of reality and will do the will of him who specializes in deception. "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived" (2 Timothy 3:13). Job 38:4 (The Israel Bible™) An online petition has collected the signatures of more than 1,000 scientists who are calling into question Darwin's evolutionary theory, a theory that has remained unchallenged for more than 150 years. Many are skeptical of the theory and one religious scientist calls the insistence on random mutation a "conspiracy" intended to remove the possibility of a Creator, something Darwin himself never intended. Last week, scientists around the world celebrated the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, the English naturalist and biologist, who first proposed the theory of evolution based on random natural mutation and natural selection. But not everyone is celebrating. The petition states simply, "We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged." The statement was first drafted and circulated by Discovery Institute in 2001 in response to widespread claims that no credible scientists existed who doubted Neo-Darwinism. Discovery Institute subsequently took out an ad in The New York Review of Books and elsewhere showcasing more than 100 scientists who were willing to publicly express their scientific skepticism of Neo-Darwinism. Since 2001, the signatories of the statement have grown to over 1,000 scientists, both in the United States and around the world. Signatories of the Scientific Dissent From Darwinism must either hold a Ph.D. in a scientific field such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or one of the other natural sciences; or they must hold an M.D. and serve as a professor of medicine. Dr. Gerald Schroeder, an Orthodox Jewish physicist with a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), signed onto the petition, agreeing wholeheartedly with its premise. "It's time to review the knee-jerk conclusion that evolution is driven by chance," Dr. Schroeder told Breaking Israel News. "The unquestioning insistence on random mutation is a conspiracy by the scientific community against the possibility that there might be a creating God. "Darwin himself never said it was by chance," Dr. Schroeder noted, citing the final paragraph in Darwin's seminal work, On the Origin of Species, published in 1859. "There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved." Dr. Schroeder explained that this paragraph was included in the five final editions of the book but not in the first edition which was published in haste. "Some scientists who discuss the theory of evolution intentionally refer to the first edition which omits the mention of the Creator," Dr. Schroeder said. "Or they quote Darwin but omit the word 'Creator,'" Dr. Schroeder was careful to differentiate between the theory of evolution and the fact of evolution. "It has been proven that life developed from the simple to the complex," Dr. Schroeder said. "But this perfectly reflects the process of creation as presented in the Bible. The fossil record follows precisely what Genesis outlined in the first chapter." The theory of evolution as presented by Darwin describes a random process, an assertion Dr. Schroeder believes exposes a "prejudice" in the scientific community. "The word 'evolution' does not intrinsically demand that the process be random," Dr. Schroeder said. "There are no data that shows that mutations are random. The likelihood of evolution being random is totally about zero." He noted that there are facts which seem to disprove the theory that have yet to be dealt with. One such inconvenient challenge to random natural selection is the Cambrian Explosion that took place an estimated 541 million years ago when all major animal phyla simultaneously appeared in the fossil record. Previous to the Cambrian explosion, all fossils were microscopic. Darwin himself noted that the lack of fossil evidence for a gradual and random process of evolution posed a difficulty for his theory. "To the question why we do not find rich fossiliferous deposits belonging to these assumed earliest periods prior to the Cambrian system, I can give no satisfactory answer," Darwin wrote. As per his theory, Darwin insisted several times in his book Natura non facit Salturum (Nature Does not Make Jumps). The fossil evidence of the Cambrian Explosion directly contradicts this non-jumping aspect of his theory. This anti-evolutionary gap in the fossil record has not been resolved in the more-than 150 years since Darwin wrote those words yet most modern scientists refuse to cope with the contradictory evidence. Stephen J. Gould, one of the most influential science authors of the past 50 years, wrote about this failure of science to criticize random natural selection in Natural History in 1987, calling it a "trade secret." "The extreme rarity of transitional forms in the fossil record persist as the trade secret of paleontology. The evolutionary trees that adorn our textbooks have data only at the tips and nodes of their branches; the rest is inference, however reasonable, not the evidence of fossils ....We fancy ourselves as the only true students of life's history, yet to preserve our favored account of evolution by natural selection we view our data as so bad that we never see the very process we profess to study." Dr. Schroeder added a strong disclaimer to his refutation of random mutation and natural selection. "That doesn't necessarily prove that there is a God or that evolution requires a God," Dr. Schroeder said. "But it certainly proves that the way evolution has been taught to schoolchildren for the past 200 years is a lie. "This is evil," Dr. Schroeder said unequivocally. "This is all part of an overriding anti-religious agenda by the scientific community to establish that the world is the result of random forces. There are so many possible wrong answers, wrong mutations and vastly few that are good that the possibility of life evolving randomly is statistically very unlikely." Dr. Schroeder emphasized that learning science in general and evolution in particular in an intellectually honest manner can lead to a deeper belief in the Creator. It is interesting to note that Dr. Schroeder's video, "Believe in God in 5 Minutes (Scientific Proof)" has garnered over three million views. "But it also has over 20,000 dislikes," Dr. Schroeder said, using this to illustrate that reason and logic do not always win the day in public discourse. Daily Jot: Where to get accurate news - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com CBS News Foreign Correspondent Lara Logan recently said she was committing professional suicide by calling out the mainstream media for its liberal bias. Logan said, among other things, that news reports based on single, anonymous government sources were an abandonment of journalistic standards. She said, "That's not journalism...Responsibility for fake news begins with us. We bear some responsibility for that, and we're not taking ownership of that and addressing it. We just want to blame it all on somebody else." She said that the media has abandoned its pretense or at least the effort to be objective. This is nothing that we didn't already know, but it raises the question of what many want answered. Where do you go for accurate news? This question has been raised by many Daily Jot readers. The truth of the matter is, I don't know. Most news sources that I know of are biased in some way. Some would say that Fox News is a good place to get balanced news. I quit watching Fox News years ago because of the noise it generates in the name of fair and balanced. When we see that Fox reporters are no different than the mainstream, they have become the mainstream. Yes, they have conservative commentators that might get your blood boiling, but that is not news, it is commentary. Fox News programs appear to me to be slightly better than the mainstream, but still reflect bias. Others say Breitbart is a great place to get unbiased news. But Breitbart is also biased toward a conservative slant. You have to take care to go to the source of their articles and check them out. For example, Breitbart reported continuously about how NFL stadiums were nearly empty during games, complete with pictures of empty seats. NFL official statistics (not cited in the story) on attendance, however, showed a slight increase. Those pictures may have been taken during halftime or pregame. Breitbart also headlined that the NFL paid Colin Kaepernick upwards of $80 million in a collusion settlement. There was absolutely no sourcing to this story. It was irresponsibly based on another reporter's anonymous conversation with a "league source." These are examples that I know first hand, but there are many others I have caught over the years. I use several sources for news. Among the best, I find, is Drudge. Drudge essentially reposts stories from all media reports. Then you need to check the sources and find other stories that report on the same topic to compare. I do the same with Breitbart. The Middle East Media Research Institute, Capitol Hill Prayer Partners, Koenig's International News are very good. I generally do not use any news site exclusively without verifying the facts from other sources. Discerning the truth takes effort. Does the point of the story match up with Biblical principles? Does more than one credible source corroborate the story? Does the story meet the "straight face" test, i.e. is it believable? Does the reporter or the sources have an agenda? These are all questions that need to be answered to find balanced reporting. Bottom line is the warning Christ gave us in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." So you go back to your flock of sheep, and everything goes back to normal. I wonder if a lot of the psalms David wrote came to him as he was tending his sheep. I wonder if maybe one day he started thinking about how dependent those sheep were on him-how he even needed to take them to the stream to drink. And maybe this came to mind: "The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams." Then one day David's father sent him to visit his brothers on the front lines with Israel's army. The Israelites were facing off with the Philistines in the Valley of Elah, where an oversized man named Goliath was taunting Israel's army every day. Everyone was terrified, including David's brothers and King Saul. David asked, "Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?" Then he told Saul, "Don't worry about this Philistine. I'll go fight him! . . . The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!" (1 Samuel 17:26, 32, 37 NLT). Fast-forward to the end of the story, and we find David taking Goliath down with a sling and a stone. David was looking at his giant in the light of God. He wasn't looking at God in the light of his giant.
