God's Patterns in Israel's History - Joel -

So it should come as no surprise to find that just as we see patterns all around us in God's creation (golden phi ratio, fractals etc.), and His Word (see here and here), Israel's history also contains incredible patterns demonstrating God's design... Israel's 490 Year Cycles Have you ever wondered why Christ commanded us to forgive our brothers "490 times" (Matt 18:21-22) or why "490 years" was the great prophetic timeline revealed to Daniel? The answer, I believe, is that God determines and measures the redemptive history of Israel in cycles of 490 (70 x 7) years. God seems to have divided Israel's history into four 490-year cycles: 1. From Abraham to the Exodus (490 Years). From Abraham's birth until the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai and the beginning of a new era (Galatians 3:17) are 505 years (Note: This time frame is obtained by simply adding the numbers of years given in Scripture). However, the 15 years when Abraham had lapsed from faith in God's promise and went in to Hagar (Genesis 16:3) until the promised seed was finally born (Genesis 21:5) must be deducted from this, leaving 490 years during which Abraham and his descendants were abiding under the covenant promise. 2. From Exodus to the Dedication of the Temple (490 Years). From the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai until the dedication of Solomon's temple are 601 years. However, the 111 years under the Judges during which God withdrew His protection from Israel must be deducted from this, once again leaving 490 years. 3. From the Temple to Nehemiah's return (490 Years). From the dedication of the temple in c. 1000 BC to Artaxerxes' commandment to build Jerusalem in 444 BC (Nehemiah 2:18) are 560 years. However, the 70-year captivity in Babylon must be deducted from this, leaving c. 490 years. 4. From Nehemiah's return to Israel's final establishment in the millennial kingdom (490 Years). The fourth cycle is actually stated in Scripture in the great "seventy week" prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27. The opening words of the prophecy make this clear: "Seventy weeks have been declared for your people and your holy city..." (Daniel 9:24). The phrase "seventy weeks" literally means in Hebrew "70 sevens" (70 x 7), and the context demands that the sevens be reckoned in years-seventy sevens of years, which would be a total of 490 years. Furthermore, Daniel's prophecy states that the 490 years are divided into three periods. After the first two periods (69 weeks or 483 years), the cycle terminates in the crucifixion of the Messiah (Daniel 9:25-26) as God breaks His covenant relation with His people. The cycle starts again when the last seven-year period begins-the so-called "70th week of Daniel" (Daniel 9:27; Revelation 6-19). Thus, Daniel's prophecy is a major confirmation that God determines and measures the redemptive history of Israel in cycles of 490 (70 x 7) years! In fact, it was this prophecy that originally led Sir Edward Denny to the discovery of the 490 year cycles. But the most amazing part of the prophecy is that it pinpoints the EXACT date of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem-over 600 years before it occurred! In Daniel 9:25 we read: "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks..." (Daniel 9:25) According to the prophecy, from the command to rebuild Jerusalem there would be seven weeks (49 years) and sixty-two more weeks (434 years)-a total of 483 years, or 173,880 days (using 360-day prophetic years)-until the Messiah would show up, i.e. Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem (which is when Jesus publicly declared that he was the Messiah). We know from history that the command to "restore and rebuild Jerusalem" was given by King Artaxerxes of Persia to Nehemiah on March 5, 444 BC (Nehemiah 2:1-8). Adding 173,880 days to March 5, 444 BC gives March 30, AD 33-the exact date of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem! May I remind you that Jesus made his "triumphal entry" into Jerusalem 4 days before His crucifixion (Matthew 21:1-9) and 4 days after March 30, AD 33 is Friday April 3, AD 33-which just so happens to be the most likely date for the crucifixion (see: Evidence for Jesus' Crucifixion on April 3, 33 AD). What a remarkable fulfillment of prophecy! Israel's 70/7 Year Pattern As seen above, the numbers 70 and 7 are very significant numbers related to Israel (Dan. 9:2; 24). Throughout the Old Testament, Israel's inextricable link to the number 70 is unmistakable:
Seeing the recurring pattern of 70's throughout Scripture relating to Israel, it's interesting that there are seven other instances of seventy (7 x 70) in Israel's history:
Have you noticed that the events occurring after 70-year intervals are restoration-themed? Given that the number 70 symbolizes restoration in the Bible, the odds against this occurring by chance are astronomical, suggesting divine orchestration. If the recurring pattern of 70's in Israel's significant historical events isn't uncanny enough, consider the following prophetically significant events that shaped the modern nation of Israel: 1897-First Zionist Congress (the intent to establish the nation of Israel) 1917-Balfour Declaration (end of Ottoman rule in WWI) 1947-UN Partition Plan approved (declaration of Israel) 1967-Six Day War (reunification of Jerusalem) 1977-Camp David Accords (beginning of "Land for Peace") 1987-Temple Mount Institute founded. Have you noticed that all these significant dates end in a "7"? Once again, the odds against this occurring by chance are astronomical, suggesting divine orchestration. The Significance of 1,948 We've seen that the numbers 70 and 7 are significant in Israel's history. But what about the date/number 1,948? Surely, the year in which one of the most significant prophetic events in history took place-the rebirth of Israel-wasn't just some random date in human history. As it turns out, the significance of this date/number may be more than what you realize: 1. The 19th book and 48th chapter in the Bible (Psalm 48) describes the rebirth of Israel. It's also interesting that this chapter has 14 verses. Is it a coincidence that the rebirth of Israel took place on May 14th? 2. Not only is Psalm the 19th book of the Bible, but it is also the 48th book from the end of the Bible. This is interesting, considering the book of Psalms is right in the CENTER of the Bible and Israel is CENTRAL to God's redemptive plan. 3. If you add 19 to 48 (19 + 48) you have 67. Is it a coincidence that the next most significant prophetic event since New Testament times, the liberation of Jerusalem, happened in 1,967? 4. Gold is heated to exactly 1,948 degrees Fahrenheit during the refining process. Interestingly, Scripture compares Israel's deliverance during Jacob's trouble to the refining and purification process of precious metal (Zech. 13:9). 5. Even the sun and moon appear to point towards the significance of the numbers 19 and 48. Of the eight rare blood-moon tetrads since the time of Christ, three have been in the last 100 years, falling on feast days in 1949-1950, 1967-1968, and 2014-2015. Note the following pattern within this triad of tetrads: 1968 - 1949 = 19 2015 - 1967 = 48 But that's not all-there was another span of three tetrads within 100 years falling on feast days, in 795-796, 842-843, and 860-861. Note the same pattern within this triad of tetrads: 861 - 842 = 19 843 - 795 = 48 6. The number of years from the first man, Adam, to the first Hebrew, Abraham, is easily determined to be 1,948 years by simply adding up the years found in Genesis chapters 5 and 11. Coincidently, from the second man Adam, Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:45), to the rebirth of "Abraham's seed" (Israel) as a nation, there were also 1,948 years! 7. The year 1,948 has been shown by scholars like Dr. Ken Johnson and Ellis H. Skolfield to have been mathematically predicted in Scripture. We should take notice and make our decision whether to believe the Bible, and therefore our Creator's story of love and salvation for a human race in need of saving! Will you RECEIVE Him (John 1:12), or will you REJECT Him? (John 12:48.) Your decision will determine your eternal destiny! Hamas Willing To Risk War To Avoid Economic Collapse - By Yaakov Lappin - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=3033 Tensions between Israel and Hamas are surging again, following a string of attacks from Gaza and Israeli retaliation airstrikes. The reason for the deteriorating is ultimately simple: Hamas is struggling to manage Gaza economically, it refuses to divert funds from its military wing to civilian needs, and the Strip's infrastructure is eroding at an alarming rate. All of these factors add up to a potential implosion in Gaza, which could mean that the Islamist regime will find itself facing an internal revolt. To avoid this fate, Hamas is doing what it has tried to do for an entire year: escalate the security situation, and ratchet up the pressure on Israel and other regional actors, though stop short of triggering a war. This high-stakes brinkmanship--based on using violence to try and force Israel to ease security restrictions on Gaza, increase the import of goods and get the international community to find donors who can rescue Gaza from economic doom--is a calculated approach by Hamas leader Yihye Sinwar. It appears as if the Qatari cash injections have not been sufficient to push Gaza away from the brink of instability. The economic chokehold that the Palestinian Authority has tried to place on Gaza, as part of its own internal war with Hamas, has contributed to tensions in the past year as well. "A short while ago, shots were fired at an IDF position near the northern Gaza Strip security fence. No IDF injuries were reported. In response, an IDF tank targeted a Hamas military post in the northern Gaza Strip," the Israel Defense Forces Spokesman Unit announced on Thursday. On Wednesday night, Gazan terrorists fired a rocket at the Eshkol region, triggering a siren, sending residents fleeing for cover and causing an Iron Dome missile-defense system to fire an interceptor. Previously that day, Hamas-organized operatives sent balloons carrying explosives over the border into southern Israel, jeopardizing the safety of local residents. In response, the Israeli Air Force launched strikes on several targets inside a Hamas compound in southern Gaza overnight between Wednesday and Thursday. The IDF did not specify what those targets were, but it's safe to assume that they were high-value Hamas assets, and that the strikes were designed to tell its leadership that it only stands to lose if this situation continues. This message was reinforced by Netanyahu, who stated on Thursday that Hamas "should understand now that any display of aggression will be answered with a double and quadruple decisive reply by Israel. It is best that Hamas understands this now, rather than later." While on Friday, a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel after thousands of Palestinians took part in another round of violent protests along the border. Amid the protests, two men were arrested by the IDF after crossing into Israel from the northern part of the Gaza Strip. The IDF has, in fact, been stepping up its responses to attacks from Gaza. In recent weeks, airstrikes on Hamas positions have become a new norm in retaliation to explosive devices sent over the Israeli border attached to balloons, and to the explosives that terrorist operatives set off along the border every night. Taking advantage of the Israeli election season The problem is that Hamas's leadership is prepared to take the risk of continuing this escalation, even though it doesn't seek a full-scale war. Hamas has assessed that any further delay in getting outside actors to step in and stabilize Gaza's economy will threaten the future of its regime as least as much as a war with Israel would. Hence, it is signaling to Israel and to Egypt (which is playing a key role as an intermediary), as well as to the international community that its demands must either met or the attacks will continue, come what may. For Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who is in the midst of a contentious election campaign, the timing of Hamas's latest challenge is difficult. If he is seen to "give in" to its demands, it will damage his campaign, and the prime minister is already facing domestic criticism for facilitating Qatari aid money into Gaza. Hamas may have decided to try and gamble by increasing the pressure during elections, based on the assumption that Netanyahu will be reluctant to get into a major conflict in Gaza at this time. For his part, Netanyahu is seeking to convince Hamas that this assumption is a dangerous illusion. The coming days and weeks will be explosive and decisive for the Gazan arena. Assuming conflict does not break out before the elections, whoever is in government in Israel post-elections will likely end up with one of two difficult choices: seeking a long-term truce in Gaza by stabilizing its economy--an option that will bring quiet, but also strengthen Hamas--or decimating Hamas's military wing in a new conflict. In the meantime, Israel's defense establishment is also keeping a cautious eye on the West Bank arena, which has managed to stay relatively calm so far and has not reflected Gaza's instability. Bu Hamas is doing its best to change that. The Gaza-based Al-Aqsa satellite TV, run by Hamas, is one of the ways that Gaza has tried to export terrorism to the West Bank. Hamas even used the channel to send coded messages to terror cells in the West Bank last year, leading the IDF to bomb its studios in November. This week, Israel designated the channel as a terrorist organization. Even so, that won't stop Hamas in Gaza from systematically trying to set fire to the West Bank. Nearing Midnight: Tearing Down the Walls - Terry James - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/ I preface this commentary with an acknowledgement that rumors have it that the Trump administration might insist that Israel tear down some of its walls that separate that tiny nation from its blood-vowed enemies-thus to put together "the deal of the century." This, of course, brings to mind the prophet Ezekiel's foretelling that Israel will be a "land of unwalled villages" at the time of the Gog-Magog attack. We will address that at another time, if true that this administration will make that wall removal part of "the deal. And I assure the assessment here, if this turns out to be fact, will not be gentle. Most people as young as 20, and certainly those of us of sufficient age in the late 1980s, know the source of the phrase. President Ronald Reagan demanded, while standing at the Berlin Wall in Germany: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" The reference, of course, was to that hideous, concrete and iron edifice that scarred the middle of Berlin, separating the western part of the city from the east. The purpose of the Berlin Wall was not to keep people out of Soviet-dominated East Berlin. It was to keep east Berliners from escaping from the dehumanizing, communist regime that was the puppet of Soviet dictator Mikhail Gorbachev's Soviet Union. U.S. President John F. Kennedy had in 1961 stood near the same spot as Reagan and pointed for all the world to see and hear the evil represented by the wall. President Kennedy said to anyone who wanted to see the difference between the free world and the iron curtain regimes: "Let them come to Berlin!" Today we are inundated every day by mainstream news reports that try to equate that enslaving wall those decades ago to the wall or barrier on the southern U.S. border that President Donald J. Trump is determined to build. That wall, of course, is to keep invaders from coming into America, not to keep the American people from leaving this nation. And, make no mistake, those who want to enter America illegally are invaders, not innocent people just seeking a better life. It is true that many among the invaders are innocent in age and motive. These are unwitting tools of those who profit from the invasion. The evil, criminal forces that are expert at piercing security at the borders profit monetarily. Those among the deep state and "progressive" political elements within the U.S. are intent on gaining greatly and permanently from the invasion. They want the wall torn down where it exists and kept from construction in areas Mr. Trump is determined to fortify against invasion. These political entities-both in government and in media-want as many illegals as possible to keep pouring into the country in order to procure a permanent underclass that will be forever beholden to them. They want voters who will keep them in power in perpetuity. And this brings us to the crux of the subject of "walls" I wish to address. The tearing down of walls is one of the most relevant of all of the end-times signs. Worldwide, those of the "progressive" mindset-the deep-state types, if you will-are determined to tear down, on a global scale, all walls that separate humanity. They want all borders erased. They want a return to Babel like times reported in Genesis chapter 11, so that, as Vladimir Lenin dreamed and John Lennon wrote and sang, all the world will be as one. They are striving mightily to achieve this worldwide condition. The election of Donald Trump to the presidency dramatically disrupted their plans. They are in an absolute rage because of the disruption. It is destined to grow much more intense in every respect. Satan wants a global platform from which to launch his man of sin-Antichrist. And, there is no doubt about it. According to Bible prophecy, this will be accomplished. The world will pay a horrendous price for welcoming such a tearing down of borders-the walls of separation between nations- that the Lord of Heaven commanded, following Nimrod's one-world attempt on the plains of Shinar. The effort is right in our faces, although much of America hasn't been given much information about the attempt to set up this neo-Tower of Babel. The American and international news media have done their best to not alarm the American public with their plans to control every aspect of life in their planning for their new world order. We haven't heard much about the World Government Summit, except in places like Rapture Ready columns by writer/observers like my great friend and authority on global, end-times issues, Daymond Duck. Here's a brief summary of what has just taken place in regard to the World Government Summit. Top globalists are coming out of the closet. Thousands of leading globalists, communists, Islamists and others from around the world converged on the Arabian Peninsula this month for the World Government Summit. Their goal: promote technocratic globalism and plot the future of what they often call their "New World Order." Senior officials from the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the European Union, Communist China, central banks, and even the Trump administration showed up to mingle with heads of state and advocates of Islamic Sharia law from across the region. Even Pope Francis delivered a message. As usual, despite top U.S. media outlets partnering with the summit, the establishment press in the United States largely failed to inform Americans about it. ("World Government Summit," Globalists Push UN Agenda 2030, by Alex Newman, taken from news source posted on SkyWatch TV website) So-called Christendom, represented by Catholic Pope Francis, has signed on, joining with representatives of Islam and many other religionists, invoking the name of God to give His blessings. We can only surmise, with great trepidation, who this god is whose blessings they seek. These are UN goals according to examination of the World Government Summit by the writer of the report: national and global wealth redistribution, government control over the economy, globalist indoctrination of all children, surrendering more sovereignty to global institutions, and much more. They are essentially a "master plan for humanity," as UN bosses put it, to build a global technocratic government that would dominate every facet of human existence. So, while tearing down the walls of borders that God deemed to be erected following Babel, these minions of the evil one are constructing walls even more dehumanizing, more enslaving than that wall that separated west from east Berlin. It will be the devil's wall-the wall separating lost mankind from their Creator Redeemer-that will bring about the most terrible era of human history, according to Jesus (Matthew 24: 21). But the Christian of this age-the Church Age-need not fear what is coming from this evil, supernatural, wall construction. The believer in Jesus Christ for salvation, according to Romans 10:9-10, will go to be with Christ when He calls (Revelation 4:1). The Rapture will take God's children out of harm's way, where they will live gloriously in His magnificent presence for all of eternity. Joel 3:1 (The Israel Bible™) Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi, an Israeli mystic rabbi who has made many accurate predictions in the past, recently announced that Jews should not travel outside of Israel on Passover, a warning that carries a strong precedent. The holiday of Passover is observed for seven days in Israel and eight days in all other places. It is the busiest time of year for Ben Gurion International Airport approximately 300,000 foreigners arrive while an estimated 350,000 Israelis leave in a reverse Exodus to spend the holiday abroad. In his regular weekly sermon published on his website in Hebrew, Rabbi Ben Artzi warned Israelis not to leave the Holy Land on Passover. "This particular Passover is a very special holiday for the Jews," Rabbi Ben Artzi told Breaking Israel News. "More than ever before, this year the Jews are leaving Egypt. The Holy One, Blessed be He, is hugging and loves His children who celebrate Passover in the Land." The rabbi explained that the world is now entering an era similar to previous eras when Jews outside of Israel are in danger. "These days are a time of danger for Jews outside of Israel," Rabbi Ben Artzi said. "This situation is only going to get worse. Some Jews are beginning to realize this and are afraid. Many Jews are beginning to wake up to this and long to make aliyah (to immigrate to Israel, literally 'to ascend'). Others are hiding from this and try to disguise themselves, act in ways that they believe will win favor with the haters of Israel. That will not help them and in the end, the hatred will find them." "Even though it is very clear what is happening, some tell themselves that it isn't really happening, that there is no danger," Rabbi Ben Artzi said. "This is nothing but ego." Rabbi Ben Artzi noted that antisemitism is being revealed in American politics in time for Passover when Jews remember a political movement in Egypt that became an attempt at genocide. "Pharaoh was the aspect of the snake," Rabbi Ben Artzi said. "People who speak against the Holy Land do so because they have learned to be politicians. This is them being sly, hiding their true intentions, like a snake. They are so quiet, so quiet. But suddenly, they will strike. All their actions now are intended to hide their true feelings - that they hate the Jews." Rabbi Ben Artzi explained that under no circumstances should Jews travel outside of Israel on Passover. The rabbi's Passover warning is well-founded. For the last several years, Israel's security services have issued warnings and tightened security before the holiday. In 2002, Hamas carried out a bombing at the Park Hotel, Netanya during a seder service, killing 30 - some of whom were Holocaust survivors - and wounding 140. "The Creator of the world requests that the Nation of Israel, the Jews who live in the Land of Israel don't go to travel on Passover, not even to visit the gravesites of tzaddikim (holy men)," Rabbi Ben Artzi said. "We have many tzaddikim who are buried in Israel as well as many holy people who are still among the living." "The graves of the forefathers [are in Hebron and they] are greater than all of the tzaddikim in the world. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who we refer to whenever we pray," the rabbi wrote in his weekly sermon. Rabbi Ben Artzi then explained that the holy people who died outside of Israel were actually inside the Land of Israel today. "All of the righteous in the world, their Luz bone, their soul and their spirit, arrived through the 'the incarnation of forgiveness," Rabbi Ben Artzi wrote. Rabbi Ben Artzi was referring to the Jewish tradition of the Luz bone as an indestructible bone at the base of the skull which is used as a seed to regrow the physical body for the resurrection of the dead in the Messianic era. "The incarnation of forgiveness" is described in Midrash Rabbah (Parshat Tzav), a collection of homiletical teachings from the third century, which describes how the righteous who die outside of Israel are forgiven in death and tunnel their way to the land of Israel. It is understood by the sages to mean that when the time of the resurrection of the dead arrives, the righteous who were buried outside of Israel will be resurrected immediately in Israel. This explanation is based on a verse in Ezekiel. Prophesy, therefore, and say to them: Thus said Hashem: I am going to open your graves and lift you out of the graves, O My people, and bring you to the land of Yisrael. Ezekiel 37:12 Rabbi Ben Artzi stated that the danger for Jews and non-Jews alike was even greater in Europe. "All of Europe will become Muslim," Rabbi Ben Artzi said. "They will throw the Jews out of their houses and the non-Jews will join in, helping to remove the Jews. The Jews will wander from house to house. The Jews will flee on foot from France and other places in Europe. They will leave their automobiles behind in their haste to arrive in Israel. It is a pity they should continue to wait. They should leave now." Several of Rabbi Ben Artzi's past predictions have materialized, lending credence to his recent warning. In 2016, Russia announced it would be supplying Syria with the advanced S-300 anti-air missile system. This was a source of enormous concern and seemed to pose a danger to Israel's ability to defend itself on its northern border. Rabbi Ben Artzi assured his followers that the "missiles would go crazy" and "blow themselves up." A few months later, several videos surfaced showing precisely that. Just before the last U.S. presidential election, Rabbi Ben Artzi predicted that there would be a rise of witchcraft and idolatry in the world. After Trump was elected, his detractors held several events attempting to hex the president. The rabbi has also accurately predicted, earthquakes, plane crashes, the failure of North Korean missile tests, and a rare tsunami that struck Iran. The leadership is having a difficult time dealing with what to do when their members say awful and embarrassing things. The discussion stems from last week's response to Islamist Marxist Ilhan Omar's (D-MN) anti-Semitic remarks about Jews and Israel. They tried to stop the political hemorrhaging by offering a non-binding resolution against anti-Semitic speech. But the resolution turned out to be a document that featured condemning speech against Muslims and Islamists. The socialist Democratic leadership is so worried about everyone's hate speech that they are missing the real question-the one of character. In this day and age, the rhetoric has become so visceral against anyone who disagrees with what these Marxists believe that it is stepping way across the bounds of decency. I am reminded of the words of Christ in Matthew 15:17-20, "Do you not yet understand, that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:These are the things which defile a man." The anti-Semitism and vile words from these Marxists pose the question: What is the character of those we are voting for? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ended speculation on impeaching President Donald Trump in a Washington Post interview. She said, "Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country...And he's just not worth it." Hmmmm...impeachment is divisive? What have her and her Marxist colleagues been doing over the past several years, but dividing the country? Moreover, the Marxists, the deep state, and leftist so-called Republicans have been spending millions upon millions of tax dollars in investigations to discredit Trump. Now, no impeachment? Her remarks underscore the coup-type ruse that is being perpetrated. They have no impeachable evidence, and they just want to disrupt. Then there is the uproar about Trump signing Bibles in Alabama. Some Christians are offended because they feel the Bible is so sacred it shouldn't be signed by anyone. Liberals, however, are demonstrating their ignorance of scripture and their own hypocrisy. They say it's tantamount to worshiping false prophets or point to the same hand that signed a hush money check for a porn star that signed the Bible. In reality, what do they care? Most of them are Marxists so they don't really believe in the Bible or God-and how does one arrive at that assumption? In Matthew 7:20, Christ says, "Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them." Remember that the previous "president" also signed Bibles, and he advocated late term abortion and homosexual marriage. What's that say? Just some tidbits, tittles and questions. As Christians we use the word a lot, but do we understand it? Romans 10 tells us, "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved" (verses 9-10 NLT). One of the great benefits of salvation is that God justifies us. One aspect of justification means that God has forgiven us of all our sin. Even more, He has removed all the evidence of our sin as well. That's important, because we've all done things we wish we hadn't. We've all said things that we wish we hadn't. But God will forgive our sin if we repent of it. Not only does God forgive us, but then He forgets our sin. God says in Hebrews 10:17, "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds" (NLT). God is omniscient, which means that He knows all things. It doesn't mean that God is literally forgetting things. It means that He's choosing not to hold those things against us. God is saying, "I choose to no longer remember the thing you did that was a sin against me and an affront to me." In this passage from The Message version, God says, "They'll look high and low for a sign of Israel's guilt-nothing; search nook and cranny for a trace of Judah's sin-nothing. These people that I've saved will start out with a clean slate" (Jeremiah 50:20). That's what God does for us. That's what it means to be saved. We have a clean slate. Our sin is removed.
