Coincidence, I Think Not - Pete Garcia - http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8412
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 The world is increasingly becoming unstable in virtually every sector. The world had been trending towards globalism since the end of World War II, but with the rise of fundamentalist Islam and human secularism, there has been pushback by way of nationalism and populism. The nationalist movements seek to take back control of their nation-states from the global-elite who very much want to blur the borders, blur control, and blur sovereignty. Populism similarly, is an uprising from within a society, who want to take back their culture from something else that is high-jacking it. In our day, it is leftism (social justice, political correctness, socialism, identity politics, anti-Christian, etc.) and fundamentalist Islam that is actively and aggressively high-jacking our media, academia, and government. Secular humanism is the general philosophy that seeks to replace the traditional underpinnings of Western society and values with anything and everything other than that of the Judeo-Christian belief structure. I don't even think they care what replaces it, so long as it is not Christian. This is why they will tolerate the most intolerable of belief systems, Islam, but shun the grace and mercy of Christianity. This is the spirit of antichrist. ...and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1 John 4:3 Assessment Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time." Revelation 12:12 The reason we are seeing the ramped up turmoil in the world today is that Satan is sensing that he is losing all the momentum towards global governance he has gained over the last century. He is neither omniscient nor omnipresent, so he does not know how all this works out, except for what the Bible has already said about it. He does not know now when things will kick off, but he knows once the Tribulation begins in earnest, he has a very short time. But until then, the timing remains the great unknown factor. So for him, there could be a year left, or hundred, which is why he always has to have a man waiting in the wings to take on the role of the Antichrist. We (watching believers) sense that the time is soon because of all the converging signs that this current season is throwing at us, but we can't know the day or hour. But since Satan doesn't know either, he is forced to stir up all his anti-nationalist and anti-populist movements in the following places: The United Kingdom, Greece, South Africa, the United States, France, Netherlands, Iraq, Russia, Ukraine, France, Mexico, Central America, the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. But Satan isn't just stirring up the nation and people groups; he is also using human institutions to do his bidding. The globalists (knowingly and unknowingly) have irrationally declared all-out war on President Trump and his nationalist/populist agenda. It is not that God needs Trump to make America great again, God is using this as a forcing function on Satan. In other words, God is forcing Satan to show his hand. Whereas in the past, Satan's influence was like an undercurrent, corrupting everything that it touched. Now, Satan is being forced to overtly express his satanic agenda through the media, academia, and deep state agents who are actively creating a rebellion to thwart a return to a strong America. While the United States may not authoritatively rule the world, it is its greatest influencer. The last thing Satan's globalist agenda needs is a strong, independent United States, bound under a Constitution created under the auspices of a Judeo-Christian worldview. Since the United States currently dominates the world militarily, economically, and politically, and influentially, as she goes, so goes the world. This struggle my friends is why we are at the escalation of the birth pangs. (Matt. 24:3-11) Conclusion Some things I have long pondered, and I keep finding myself returning too; specifically, the dates and numbers related to Scripture and prophetic events. I emailed Jack Kinsella about this back in 2013 I believe, of a revelation of sorts pertaining the Jubilees (although I hadn't linked the jubilees to the times yet). Needless to say, it has been on my mind now for a few years. Let me caveat this by saying that God is not revealing new information to me because if that were the case, it would be equal to scripture. I believe that He (the Holy Spirit) impressed upon me to take heed to the significance of the dates and years as it pertains to Israel. We know from other teachers (E.W. Bullinger, Clarence Larkin, etc.) that numbers have significance to them in scripture. Some put TOO much emphasis on them, while others NOT enough. I'm somewhere in the middle on this. I believe they are significant, but I don't think we can build a salvific doctrine off of it. With that said, I also don't believe in coincidence. I don't believe things happen randomly without God's say-so. So let's take a look at some significant dates for Israel in the post-Diaspora era. 1897- First Zionist Congress convenes, led by Theodore Herzl. This was the first legitimate, political effort to get the Jewish movement back to the land of Israel. 1917-The Balfour Declaration was the first official act by the British, who were the current stewards of the land by mandate of the League of Nations. This defined territories and gave Jews the right to repatriate to what was then known as Palestine (former territory of the Ottoman Empire) 1947-November 29: United Nations Resolution 181 voted for allowing for the creation of a new Jewish State in their ancestral homelands 1948-May 14: Israel declares her independence 1967-June 7: Six-Day War begins when Israel is attacked simultaneously by Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. Israel defeats them, and gains back an undivided Jerusalem 1977-November: Some might ask what the significance of 1977 is. Well, unlike the popular notions that the Middle East land for peace initiatives began under Clinton, Rabin, and Arafat with the 1993 Oslo Accords, the actual process began in 1977-1978 with the Camp David Accords. This included turning Jerusalem into an international city all three major faiths (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) could claim access too. We are at the very tail end of 40 years of this frustration, political machinations, and micro-wars. You could say it's been 40 years of testing for Israel (nationally speaking). Two Points to Make Here is why I think we are at the very cusp of the Rapture. I could be wrong, but let's say that the Rapture were not to happen for another 30 years. The further we move along in time, the more arbitrary and random the dates and times become. I understand Jesus said, the Lord cometh at an hour ye think not (Matt. 24:44), but historically and scripturally speaking, we know and read that God does not do things randomly (Galatians 4:4-5). While the Church is not Israel, nor are we bound to her feasts and fate per se, I do believe that we are going to be used to bring about national Israel's tribulation and then redemption by way of the gatekeeper event known as the Rapture of the Church. Set aside the Church for a second, because we are neither Jew nor Gentile, but a new Creation in Christ (Gal. 3:28). If there is anything we can take from Scripture, is that God has kept a very short, and tightly controlled leash on the nation of Israel. Furthermore, when Christ said that 'no man knoweth the day or hour,' He was speaking to specifics here. He could have said 'no man knoweth the year or even century of my return,' and that would be considered very broad in terms of time. If I said, I would visit you at your house next Tuesday at 10 AM- that is a very specific time. If I said I was going to visit you this year- that is very broad in terms of time. So let us not make the mistake that we cannot know anything about anything about the time of the Lord's return. We cannot know the day or hour, but we should be able to recognize the season. (Mark 13:35-37; 1 Thess. 5:1-4; Rev. 3:3) A principle worth mentioning here is the two witnesses. (2 Cor. 13:1-Paul quoting Deuteronomy 19:15) This will be the third time I am coming to you. "By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established. Timeline 1) So from 1897 to 2017, it has been 120 years. In Genesis 6:3 (Concerning all mankind) And the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." This could mean either that man's life would be no longer than 120 years (which Noah, Shem, Job, and Abraham are all apparent violations of), or that in 120 years, the judgment would come upon all mankind. I believe the latter explanation fits what transpired as a converging of events occurred: Methuselah dies at the age of 969 years the same year that Noah turns 600 years old, which was the same year that the flood (judgment) came. 2) From 1917 to 2017, it has been 100 years. In Genesis 15:12-16 (Concerning future Israel) Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. Then He said to Abram: "Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete." Here we have God prophesying over an unconscious Abraham, that in 400 years (four generations), his descendants would be in bondage. But in the fourth generation, they would be delivered. This is where we are dealing with a generation being 100 years long. 3) From 1947 to 2017, it has been 70 years (represents both judgment and fulfillment) In Jeremiah 25:11-12 (In relation to the Jews in Judaea) And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. 'Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity,' says the Lord; 'and I will make it a perpetual desolation. Their enslavement by the Babylonians for exactly 70 years, was punishment and payment for idolatry and the 70 Sabbath years they had violated in the land of Israel. (Lev. 25:1-19; 2 Chron. 36:20-21; Jer. 25:8-12) In Daniel 9:24-27 (to the Jewish people and Jerusalem) "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy... We know the 70 Weeks are weeks of years. Genesis 29:18-28 validates the use of this as a means of measurement for time. 70 x 7 = 490 years. We know that 483 of those years were completed with Christ's death on the cross (Dan 9:26). This leaves one final week (7 years) to be completed. This final week though does not begin at the Rapture, but at the confirmation of a covenant between Israel, the Antichrist, and the many nations around her (Dan. 9:27). This further develops the idea that the Antichrist comes with a deceptive peace initiative that he fully plans to violate at a future point (Rev. 6's rider on the white horse; Dan. 7's small horn, Daniel 8's little horn, and Daniel 11's willful king) 4) From 1967 to 2017, it has been 50 years In Leviticus 25:8-12 (50 equals Jubilee concerning Israel) 'And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. 5) From 1977 to 2017, it has been 40 years (Judgment, testing) Genesis 7:4 (concerning the world) For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made." Also: Exodus 16:35 (Israelites wandered in the desert 40 years), Goliath taunts Israel for 40 days (1st Sam. 17:16, Elijah fasted (1st Kings 19:8), Jesus temptation 40 days and nights (Luke 4) In summary 1897-2017= 120 years 1917-2017= 100 years 1947-2017= 70 years 1967-2017= 50 years 1977-2017= 40 years Do you see the narrowing window this is becoming? Is it coincidence that so many significant, well-established biblical numbers all align with 2017? I cannot say with 100% certainty that it is, because I can't see the future. But I worship the Lord our God, and He can. Is it a coincidence that all these align significantly with Israel? God could have reestablished Israel as a nation back in 1732, or 1849. Why 1947? Why did God set Trump to be the 45th president of the United States right at the end of these 40 years? God moves with purpose, and I am sure that this will all work out according to His will, and His plan. I am not planting my battle flag on this particular hill and saying that something will definitively happen in 2017. At the same time, I do not want to be dismissive of them either. The Lord put these things on my mind years ago, before I was even knowledgeable about them so He must have had His reasons. He could return tomorrow. He could return 3 months from now. Or 100 years from now. But do the dates and spread of numbers (years) all just seem like some kind of random, cosmic joke, or perhaps some monumental coincidence? I think not. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you... "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."' Revelation 3:3,6 Did Putin Just threaten Israel with a "Red-line?" - Martin Jay - https://www.rt.com/op-edge/382345-israel-air-strike-syria-putin/
Putin's red line in Syria is not an invitation for Israel to play Russian roulette with Assad What is Israel's real role in the war in Syria? Can we really believe that it doesn't want to get involved in the conflict? And how much longer can Israel be Washington's strong arm in the region while sustaining good relations with Russia? A minor incident took place last week in Syria which few in Washington and London even noticed, but which drew the attention of geopolitical nerds who observe the daily developments in Damascus. Israel conducted an air attack on what it claims was a movement of Hezbollah missiles. In itself, it was hardly remarkable and has happened in the past. In fact, Israel's attacks have generally been on Hezbollah commanders or the transportation of ordinance. What made this attack remarkable was the response of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Not only did he launch a ballistic missile into Israel, but quickly stated to the media that no more such attacks would be tolerated. The last time, in fact, that Assad issued such stern warnings to Israel was over the Golan Heights in 2013, when he threatened the Israelis with the use of Russian weapons. But now the threat is wider and throws into question both how far Russia will go in supporting Assad, but also to what extent Israel is prepared to risk ruining its own relations with Moscow. This time, the Syrian president is speaking with a new gusto, almost as though he has the full military support of Russia behind him. Indeed, although he also hinted in reports that he wanted Moscow to support any return fire in the future, the rhetoric corresponds entirely with what Russian President Vladimir Putin had warned regional foes in 2015, when Russia entered Syria with its own forces. Israel's return threat via the media from Foreign Minister Lieberman to entirely wipe out Syria's anti-aircraft arsenal slightly shook the cordial working relationship they enjoy with Moscow. This immediately resulted in the Israeli ambassador in Moscow being summoned to explain himself, since a 2015 deal was struck, whereby Israel would stay out of the way of Assad and his allies in the conflict. The incident has added more momentum to the much talked-of quandary that Israel is currently in - with the new US administration settling in and a new dynamic in the war unfolding, many are asking how long Israel can continue to straddle two opposing geopolitical agendas. "No matter how good the coordination mechanism between the two sides," writes Michael Koplow of the Israel Policy Forum, "the fundamental conflict at the heart of Israeli-Russian views on Syria is that Israel's redline is the establishment of a permanent Iranian presence in Syria and Russia's redline is the elimination of a permanent Iranian presence in Syria." In other words, 'something's got to give.' It's as though Israel, Syria, and Russia are all now entering a new phase of both recalibrating their relations and roles with one another, but also testing the water to see who backs down when the heat gets turned up. Russia has not officially said it will back Assad if he were to start firing at Israeli jets, but the Syrian president clearly thinks it will. But that is not the most poignant question, but more whether Assad's strained resources on the battlefield could continue to hold the ground in Syria if it were to engage in a new campaign against Israel. Netanyahu is banking on Assad not being so stupid as to lay himself vulnerable to hardcore Sunni extremist groups taking advantage of his troops being preoccupied with Israel, who will likely take back key ground. And yet, Israel is also pushing its luck in threatening to attack Assad for two reasons: firstly, it would be stretching its military resources, and the temptation from Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon to strike it might be too much to contain; secondly, Israel simply cannot afford to anger Russia and become its enemy. It needs a Russian air campaign against its fighters as much as it needs a hole in the head. I would argue, though, that Putin may well test how far he can go with Israel, who is not really in a position to fight either Russia or its allies Hezbollah, or Iran. He may well use the Syrian Israeli border as a new red line, as was recently suggested by Dan Shapiro, the former US ambassador to Israel under President Barack Obama. If we are to believe the Syrian ambassador to the UN, who recently warned that his government's response to the Israeli strikes marks a new phase of the conflict, where Israeli attacks would merit further responses, then the current diplomatic apparatus is balancing on a knife edge. Equally, if we are also to believe one of Lebanon's leading academics, Dr. Jamal Wakim, who claims that Israel is preparing for a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, then Russia telling Israel that it no longer has 'free reign' in Syrian airspace is a milestone which all sides should observe as a lucid warning. If Syria can move the latest generation surface-to-air rockets across the country into Lebanon without fear of an Israeli airstrike, then Russia is settling doubts once and for all about how committed it is to Syria and its allies in any regional dispute. But Israel often punches above its weight in regional clashes, and the bravado chest-beating of some of its supporters is breath taking. "Israel reserves the right to respond" argued US academic Dan Arbell, on RT's 'CrossTalk' show. It needs a Russian air campaign against its fighters as much as it needs a hole in the head. The Assad regime in Syria has sent messages to Israel via Russia threatening that any further strikes by the Israeli military within Syria's borders will be met with Scud missiles attacks on the Jewish state, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Diyar reported Saturday. Syria warned that Israeli strikes on its military would result in Scud missiles capable of carrying half a ton of explosives being launched at IDF bases, while strikes in civilian areas would be met with counterstrikes on the northern coastal city of Haifa and petrochemical plants in the region, the report claimed. According to the report, Syria has over 800 Scud missiles and will issue no advance warning before launching them. Israeli airstrikes were reported overnight Tuesday in the Mount Qasioun region near the Syrian capital of Damascus, according to Syrian opposition media. The strikes targeted Syrian military outposts and destroyed a military weapons warehouse. The incident marked the fourth round of Israeli airstrikes reported in under a week. Israel has been targeting Hezbollah-bound weapons convoys in Syria. Tuesday's strike came hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refuted claims that Russia had ordered Israel to stop the strikes. A recent Israeli strike on a Hezbollah weapons transfer just over a week ago was met with retaliatory missiles from Syria, the first serious cross-border clash since the civil war began. One missile was intercepted by Israel's Arrow missile defense battery. Two days later, Syria's ambassador to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari said on state TV that the retaliation was in response to Israel's "terrorist operation." His comments followed Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman's warning that "The next time the Syrians use their air defense systems against our planes we will destroy them without the slightest hesitation." Israelis warned of increased ISIS threat abroad ahead of Passover holiday - By Yonah Jeremy Bob - http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Israelis-warned-of-increased-ISIS-threat-abroad-ahead-of-Passover-holiday-485312
Travel warnings issued for locations including Sinai, Turkey and Jordan. Leading into the Passover and summer travel seasons, Israel has raised travel warnings to the highest level, cautioning Israelis against traveling to Egypt's Sinai region, Prime Minister's Office Counter-Terrorism Bureau Chief Eitan Ben David said at a special media briefing on Monday. Ben David said that "the threat has grown, including to Israelis in the coming period and is the gravest level of threat."' "Attacks on the Egyptian military, on Coptic Christians...ISIS rockets fired at Eilat and videos from ISIS against Israelis show the high motivation and power of terror groups there [to attack Israelis]," said Ben David. "We don't expect them [ISIS] to respect red-lines." While Sinai has the highest level of warning at level one of four, other countries also have high warning levels - with Turkey at level two (without special heightened warning for merely stopping over in Turkey's airport) and Jordan along with Egypt at level three. Level one signals "a very high concrete threat" with advice to avoid any travel to a destination and leave immediately. Level two means "a high concrete threat" with advice to avoid travel to a destination and leave as early as possible. Level three means "a basic-level concrete threat" with advice to avoid travel to a destination and level four is "a continuing potential threat" with advice to delay travel which is not essential. Ben David said that most of the increased threat was presented by ISIS-affiliated groups, including, "that ISIS is losing ground in Iraq and Syria which is causing many runaways to places where it is easier to act." He said there is a big rise recently of ISIS-related terror attacks in Asia, particularly in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh as well as in North Africa in "places where there is less security control." The presentation emphasized that the threat was not unique to Israelis and that ISIS is in an increased terror mode also for targeting Christians and others. Museums, market places, sporting events, airports, train stations, synagogues and mosques, big events and certain central hotels, especially in Africa, could all be primary targets for terrorists to inflict maximum mass casualties. Ben David emphasized that they did not disregard threats from Iran, Hezbollah or others, but that in general the increased threat stemmed mainly from ISIS-related groups. He would not get into the question of whether the recent killing of a major Hamas leader in Gaza had impacted the threat outlook, with Hamas threatening retaliation against Israel, but said Hamas is always a continued threat. Many - By Daymond Duck - http://www.raptureready.com/2017/03/26/many-by-daymond-duck/
Lately, the word "many" has been on my mind for two reasons. First, the Tribulation period will begin when the Antichrist confirms a seven-year covenant with "many" (Dan. 9:27). It seems significant to this writer that U.S. Pres. Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have decided that the only way to get Israel and the PA to agree to a peace treaty is to make it part of a regional agreement. These two leaders have decided that a peace treaty is possible if the Arabs (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and others) are involved along with the U.S., Israel and the PA. Leaders of some of these nations have already said they think it will work. Some have even suggested that a treaty might be agreed to sooner than many people think. That would make the Rapture sooner than many people think. Many would be caught unaware (Luke 21:34). Then the Antichrist could rise to power and confirm the new treaty with "many." Second, the beginning of the Tribulation period is near when God gathers a multitude of nations ("many" nations) from the far corners of the earth in the mountains of Babylon (Iraq) to destroy the whole land of Iraq (Isa. 13:1-6). These nations will assemble with the weapons of His (God's) indignation, one of the names of the Tribulation Period (Isa. 26:20-21; Zeph. 3:8). Starting in 2014, ISIS moved into a large area of Iraq. ISIS didn't destroy many things when they moved in because the Iraqi defenders often abandoned their weapons and ran. But ISIS settled in and destroyed many things (churches, museums, public buildings and more). Pres. Obama soon gathered "many" nations (I seem to remember 60) in the mountains of Iraq to fight ISIS (he called them ISIL, a Muslim term). He didn't seem to be in a hurry, but the major cities of Tikrit, Ramadi, Fallujah, Qayyara, and many towns and villages were retaken over time. In some cases, the destruction was great and ISIS troops burned down or boobytrap buildings as they fled. Candidate Donald Trump arrived on the scene promising the destruction of ISIS. The remains of the ISIS troops are now surrounded in the western part of Mosul. As I understand it, Iraqis and the forces from other nations that are helping them are recapturing Mosul one building and one city block at a time. Iraqi forces start moving up to a building or a block; if they are fired upon from a building, a U.S. advisor calls for a U.S. plane to drop a bomb on the building. When the dust settles, the troops move up to the next building or block. It will take a while and the destruction is great, but ISIS is slowly being destroyed and the U.S. has scheduled a 68-nation meeting ("many" on Mar. 22-23, 2017) to discuss what they are going to do next. Israel is mentioned more than any other nation in the Bible. Babylon (Iraq) is next. Stay focused on what is taking place in Iraq. It has been 50 years since 1967 and there is good reason to believe that major things will happen in 2017. Prophecy Plus Ministries, Inc. Daymond & Rachel Duck [email protected]
My Review of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Over the last 35 years, I have literally read hundreds of books on Bible Prophecy and End Time signs. I especially enjoy books on the Rapture, and I have read almost every Rapture-related book published. In all those years, devouring thousands of pages, and millions of words, I have not read a better book on the Rapture than, Rapture Ready...Or Not? Terry James might be physically blind, but he is spiritually sharp and well discerning beyond most authors. In "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Terry has nailed the pre-trib Rapture, and removed any doubt what so ever about the Church going through the Tribulation. With great insight and Godly discernment, Terry explains with simple, yet profound words, why and how that he has come to believe the ways he does about the Rapture, the Tribulation, and the End Times scenario. I think after reading "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" you too will believe as Terry does, and be Ready for the Rapture like never before! - Randy Thomas - Publisher / Editor - Prophecy Update For more information and or to get your copy of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" use this link: http://www.raptureready.com/terry/book35.html Watchman Warning: Walls - By Hal Lindsey - Hal Lindsey - http://www.hallindsey.com/ww-3-24-2017/
Wednesday's terror attack in London may seem small compared to others. But it could turn out to be one of the most significant terrorist events of recent years. Last year's attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, for instance, killed 49 and injured another 53. The London attack had nowhere near that number. But it struck at what could be considered the heart of western civilization. The Independent reports that British Prime Minister Theresa May was just forty yards away from the point where the terror suspect was shot down. They said, "Witnesses saw Ms. May being led to a silver Jaguar, as what sounded like gunfire could be heard." The final shooting took place just outside Parliament. Big Ben stands above the area. Westminster Abbey - historic home of British coronations, as well as royal weddings and funerals - is just feet away. Buckingham Palace is a quick walk from there. On the walk, you pass the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, better known as Scotland Yard. At every turn, offices of government are a stone's throw away. Number 10 Downing Street is two blocks to the north. This is the heart of London and one of the most strategic areas on earth. When the attack occurred Wednesday afternoon, this prestigious and highly symbolic area changed permanently. No one knows the extent to which the changes will be visible, but new security cordons went up the moment this happened, and they aren't coming down. That means new walls between the public and their representatives in government. And it doesn't stop in Britain. When a terrorist breaches the security of a major capital, the ripple effect reaches to capital cities everywhere. If a country fails to build appropriate outer walls - by which I mean solid and comprehensive immigration controls - it will build inner walls instead. But inner walls are far more complex and harmful to democracies. We keep hearing that it is better to build bridges than walls. It's a lovely platitude. Connecting points are better than barriers. I think of Robert Frost's poem, "Mending Wall." Frost pictures himself arguing against walls. To which his neighbor responds with the ancient wisdom, "Good fences make good neighbors." Both sides make a legitimate point, but neither position can be taken as an absolute. The U.S. teacher goes to a protest march. She holds her sign that says, "Build bridges, not walls." When the march is over she goes home - sometimes to a gated community, or a building that requires a code to get in. She lives in a home with walls, doors, and locks. She uses, "Build bridges, not walls," as a mantra. She says it as though it can't be argued with - as though it were true at all times and in all circumstances. She forgets her home, car, computer, phone, bank accounts, mail, and other parts of her life where she wants privacy or needs security. There's no such thing as a world without borders. The latest terror event in London also serves as a reminder that murder does not originate inside guns. It rises out of dark hearts. Those intent on creating mayhem will find or make weapons. Kitchens will always be a source of knives. A truck can mow down a crowd with the same terrible efficiency as an automatic weapon. Even if government could remove all guns, we would still need the basic tools of human existence, including knives and vehicles. Before his attack with a car and a knife, British officials investigated the London terrorist. They dismissed him as a "peripheral figure." That's the problem. There are millions of similar "peripheral figures" lurking in the shadows of Islam all over the world. ISIS and other radical groups inspire them to violence. Because they are "peripheral," they can come from any direction and without warning. The war with terror is ongoing for the people of democracies from Jerusalem to Paris to London to New York to Los Angeles. I fully expect it to continue until Christ returns. We live in troubled times. But those who have experienced rebirth in Christ can live in the assurance of God's continued care. When we see or experience terrible things, we should remind ourselves of the future promised in God. He has a new world on the way - full of love, joy, and peace. Even though things will get worse before they get better, we're oh-so-close now to the most amazing days in the history of the universe. Remember the most famous of all the Psalms. "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." - Psalms 23:5-6 Daily Jot: America 1, Ryan 0, Trump collateral damage - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
The leftist, socialist-based media, is offering only one explanation for the yet non-repeal of socialist healthcare: A major defeat for House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and President Donald Trump. In a different analysis of the events, I would like to offer an alternative hypothesis: America won round one of this globalist bent on a socialist United States; Ryan suffered a very well deserved defeat; and the President suffered collateral fallout of his own observation during his campaign-that the swamp needed to be drained because the American people are fed up with politics as normal. In a sports analogy, Trump suffered from having very bad teammates, and a very hostile and aggressive opponent. Americans won this round because the Ryancare "replacement" was not a "repeal" no matter how you cut it. It was a watered down continuation of a socialist wealth redistribution program where American citizens were forced by an overreaching government to pay for things most of us believe are reprehensible. A non-repeal of the Economic Substance Doctrine-meaning we still are forced by the government to pay for healthcare and the government takes its share before anyone gets any healthcare. A defunding of Planned Parenthood for one year, really? Continuation of abortion funding. Small tax credits based on age that disappear over a specified amount of time. The Ryancare replacement was a lie. Thanks to a small group of Congressmen, some 31 elected officials who put Americans ahead of globalist socialism, this horror of a bill did not even have enough votes to get to the floor of the House of Representatives. These brave souls called this refried socialist system for what it was and they stood their ground. Thank you, conservative members of the House Freedom Caucus for knocking Ryan's hoodwink out for the count. Now Ryan is in deep trouble because he misled Trump on several fronts-that this was a replacement legislation that could be modified in the Senate; that it had the votes to pass; and that it was good for the American people. Shame on Ryan and three cheers for the Constitutional Republic. But all is not lost. Members of the House Freedom Caucus say they want repeal of socialist healthcare and that Ryan changed the game when he decided to offer legislation to replace. Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) told the Wall Street Journal, "You know when the goal posts were moved? When they didn't start with the legislation we all voted for 15 months ago." Trump would do well to find American-first members of Congress to partner with on his America First agenda. As Jesus said in Matthew 12:25, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand." Unity will carry the day, but it must be based on truth, not deception like Ryan's shell game on health care. Daily Devotion: God Always Keeps His Promises - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org
From then on Jesus began to tell His disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day He would be raised from the dead. -Matthew 16:21 I heard about a guy who traveled cross country. After landing at the airport, he went to the luggage carousel and retrieved his bags. Then he hailed a cab and climbed in the back. After cruising along for a few moments, he had a question for the cabbie, so he tapped the guy on the shoulder. The cab driver freaked out, shrieked, and swerved across four lanes. After catching his breath, the guy in the back seat asked the cab driver, "What was that all about?" The cab driver said, "Sir, I am sorry. I have been driving a hearse for forty years. This is my first day as a cabbie." When you are driving a hearse, you don't expect to get tapped on the shoulder. And when someone dies, we don't expect them to be alive again. Jesus warned His disciples that that He would die. He also promised that He would rise again from the dead. In Matthew 16:21, we read that "Jesus began to tell His disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day He would be raised from the dead." Could He have been any more specific? And yet, this was lost on the disciples. They collectively missed the memo. But three days after Jesus was crucified, He rose as He said He would. Here is what we need to remember: God always keeps His promises. If God says something is going to happen, it will happen. God told us His Son would come to this earth. That happened. God told us His Son would be crucified. That happened. God told us His Son would be raised again from the dead. That happened. And God has told us His Son will come back again to this earth. That will happen. It will happen very soon, quite possibly. What other promises has God made to you in the pages of Scripture? Think about them today, and know with confidence that He will keep them. FROM THE HEART
