How the Coronavirus Sets the Stage for the End Times - By Britt Gillette -

The world simply hasn't entered that time period yet. However, it is significant to Bible prophecy, because it sets the stage for the near-term fulfillment of many end-times Bible prophecies. This isn't surprising. Politicians take advantage of times of turmoil, disaster, and fear to implement changes people otherwise wouldn't accept. Here are just a few things to expect in the days ahead: 1) Calls for a Strong European Union Leader As of this writing, the coronavirus has hit the United States harder than any other nation. However, if you count the European Union as a single nation and add up the case total and fatalities of all its member nations, the coronavirus has hit the European Union harder than anyone else. Early on, EU leaders and many individual nations pushed back on the idea of closing borders. This allowed early infections in Italy to spread all over continental Europe. Many believe this could have been avoided with a strong executive. With centralized authority, a single European leader could have closed borders and instituted a shutdown much earlier. Instead, each individual nation enacted its own policies. When the coronavirus pandemic ends, many will point to the EU's leadership failure and use it as an excuse to push for the creation of a strong executive office to head the EU. This is the position many prophecy experts believe the Antichrist will hold. If it is, he will likely take charge of a more unified and powerful EU. Why? Because the coronavirus will likely lead to further unification of the EU. 2) Calls for Further European Union Integration The coronavirus has devastated Italy. The fourth largest economy in the European Union, and the eighth largest in the world, the Italian economy has effectively been closed since March 9th. Unlike the United States, which can print money for business bailouts and stimulus checks, Italy doesn't control its own currency. Like other EU countries, Italy uses the euro, and that means their national debt is denominated in euros. The only way Italy can pay its debts is to collect taxes. If the economy tanks, so does tax collection. This means Italy will soon be at the epicenter of a massive debt crisis. Remember the Greek debt crisis? In 2010, Greece needed a €110 billion bailout. They couldn't make their debt payments, and they couldn't print euros. The prospect of default almost caused a second financial crisis, coming on the heels of the 2008-2009 recession. Yet Greek debt remains at unsustainable levels. As of the third quarter of 2019, Greek debt was 178% of its gross domestic product (GDP) - the worst debt-to-GDP ratio in the EU. The second worst? Italy at 137%. But Italy's economy is ten times as big as Greece's economy. If Italy defaults on its government debt, some of the largest banks in Italy and Europe will become insolvent. The event will send widespread financial contagion throughout the global financial system. The subsequent collapse of global markets will trigger one of the greatest economic depressions in history. One way to avoid this catastrophe? Do something many EU nations vowed never to do - share debt. In other words, further integration and the creation of a United States of Europe. I believe this is inevitable, and I believe it will create the final world empire Daniel envisioned (Daniel 2, Daniel 7). 3) Calls for Increased Tracking of People With shutdowns all over the world bringing the global economy to a standstill, calls are getting louder to re-open the economy and get people back to work. But how do you get people "back to work" without causing a spike in new coronavirus cases? Some people are pushing a solution that involves increased tracking of people. They believe the government should track everyone's mobile phone. When someone gets the coronavirus, the government can easily retrace their steps and find everyone who came within a few feet of the infected person. Then, they'll place those people in a mandatory quarantine. Some nations, such as South Korea, already do this. Other people favor giving "papers" to those who have recovered from the coronavirus. These official papers will allow you to travel in public or go back to work. Some warn this is the road to authoritarianism, but it isn't. Once we do this, we'll already be there. This level of government control over the individual is no different than what we read about in Revelation 13. 4) Calls to Replace Paper Currency with a World Cryptocurrency The use of paper currency has declined dramatically in this new era of online ordering and social distancing. Paper currency is a haven for bacteria and viruses, and it could accelerate the spread of coronavirus. Because of this, look for politicians to call for an end to using paper currency. Meanwhile, governments have struggled to quickly deliver stimulus payments to the unemployed. This provides the perfect cover to implement a government-sponsored virtual wallet and cryptocurrency. Getting people to sign-up will be easy. They'll offer a few thousand dollars to everyone who signs up to the government's virtual wallet program. Once everyone signs up, the government will eliminate use of all currency except its own cryptocurrency. This will give the government detailed knowledge of every sale and purchase you're involved in. It will also give them the ability to control the terms and conditions of all those transactions. And if they don't like something you're doing? They can cut off access to your virtual wallet, locking you out of all commerce. The technology to implement this system already exists, and the Bible tells us it's coming. It says the Antichrist will implement this system: "He required everyone - small and great, rich and poor, free and slave - to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark..." (Revelation 13:16-17). 5) Decreased Demand for Oil The coronavirus has shut down factories, grounded airplanes, and caused a drop in the number of cars on the road. Global oil demand has fallen by 29 million barrels per day to a level last seen in 1995. The price of oil has fallen from around $60 per barrel at the beginning of the year to around $20 per barrel today. Needless to say, this has had an unprecedented impact on the global oil industry. In March, OPEC attempted to coordinate a production cut with Russia. When Russia said no, Saudi Arabia responded with increased production. Some think their aim was to take market share, drive down prices, and force Russia back to the negotiating table. Others think their aim was to harm U.S. shale producers, many of whom can't survive at $20 per barrel oil. Regardless of their true intent, Saudi Arabia's actions had a profound and negative impact on Russia. Earlier this month, they agreed to production cuts, but you can be sure Vladimir Putin is not happy. Losing a high profile oil price war and billions of dollars per day in oil profits won't be something he'll easily forget. While Saudi Arabia has an advantage in oil reserves, Russia holds a greater advantage in the military realm. What will happen if Russia invades Saudi Arabia? The Middle East is home to approximately 40% of the world's proven oil reserves. If Russia controlled the Middle East, they could control the world's oil. Only two nations stand in Putin's way - the United States and Israel. If a global depression, the rapture, or another major event changes U.S. policy in the Middle East, only Israel will stand between Russia and complete dominance of the global oil market. The high stakes incentivize Russia to team up with Iran and take out Israel. This will secure their collective grip on the region. The Bible says this will happen. More than 2,600 years ago, Ezekiel revealed an alliance composed of Russia, Iran, Turkey, and other regional nations will launch a surprise attack on Israel from the north (Ezekiel 38-39). Since the launch of the Syrian civil war in 2011, we've seen each of the major players mentioned move their forces into Syria. Russia and its allies currently sit on Israel's northern border, which is the direction from which Ezekiel said they'll attack (Ezekiel 38:15; Ezekiel 39:2). We've been watching God set the stage for this conflict for several years. The coronavirus-induced oil price war provides yet another reason to expect we're getting closer to seeing fulfillment of Ezekiel 38-39. The End Times Approach The word "coronavirus" doesn't appear in the Bible, and what we see now is not one of the events of the Tribulation. However, the coronavirus is one of the general signs Jesus said to look for, and it sets the stage for the rapture of the church and the arrival of the Tribulation. When asked to describe the signs of His coming, Jesus cited pandemics just like the one we're experiencing now as a major sign (Luke 21:11). But this wasn't the only sign He said to look for. He said to look for the Jewish people back in the land of Israel (Jeremiah 23:7-8)... He said to look for the Jewish people once again in possession of Jerusalem (Luke 21:24-28)... And He said to look for the Gospel being preached to the ends of the earth (Matthew 24:14). The prophets also said to look for signs. They said to look for: A time when travel and knowledge will increase (Daniel 12:4)... A time when Israel has "an exceedingly great army" (Ezekiel 37:10)... The rise of the Gog of Magog Alliance (Ezekiel 38-39)... The rise of a revived Roman Empire (Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Revelation 17)... The rise of global government (Revelation 13:7)... And the rise of a single global currency system (Revelation 13:16-17)... We see all of these signs today, and Jesus commanded us to watch for them. He warned us not to be found sleeping when the Master arrives without warning (Mark 13:36). The coronavirus is God's wake-up call to those who have been sleeping. It sets the stage for the rapture of the church, the arrival of the Antichrist, and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Make sure you're not asleep! Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?" 2 Thessalonians 2:3-5 (KJB) Take a moment and run the phrase 'covid-19 immunity passport ID2020' through the Google mill and see what comes up. You will see not speculative theoretical surmising's, but a very rapidly-evolving global effort to bring the COVID-19 immunity passport to life. It will likely start out voluntary, so people falsely feel like they have control, and then will quickly become mandatory. I can see it being attached to the lifting of lockdowns, "you want lockdown lifted? Then take the shot and get the immunity passport", or perhaps tied to financial incentives. What if the government said that if you agreed to take the vaccine and received the digital immunity passport, all your debt of any kind would be forgiven? Why, there would be an actual stampede for people to get the vaccination and take the digital immunity passport, and you know it. Look at how greedy people got for the $1,200 stimulus checks, and are even now 84% percent of Americans are demanding more. Imagine what people would do to have all their debt forgiven. And that leads me to my next point. "Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein." John 12:4-6 (KJB) On Tuesday we showed you how French president Emmanuel Macron, having secured the backing of the UN Security Council to become the leader of the New World Order, has also gained the fervent backing of Pope Francis in a private phone call from the Vatican. What is one of the main planks of the platforms of both these men? They are both advocating for global debt forgiveness, and you can bet your bottom Aureus that getting vaccinated and receiving a COVID-19 immunity passport will be the price of admission. When it comes to the lust for money, people are quickly and easily led by the entities holding the purse strings. Who was the apostle that was in charge of the money? Judas. That should tell you how God feels about money. It is called the COVID-19 Credentials Initiative, or CCI, and it is a global coven of tech entities like ID2020, Microsoft, Bill Gates, the National Health Service in the UK, and of course Silicon Valley here in America. For those reasons among others, many churches have chosen the path of least resistance. They've decided to ignore the topic entirely. I hope you are in a church where pastors and others teach Bible prophecy as a part of their overall study of scripture. If so, you have a different perspective on the global pandemic. You may be frustrated by the lockdown. You may be concerned about your health, that of loved ones, and even complete strangers. The state of the nation and the world may have you praying fervently. You may be feeling many things. But surprise is not one of them. You knew this day would come. You studied the words of Jesus. You heard His warnings as well as His promises. It's even worse if your church centers its teaching on the power of positive thinking, or it teaches that the world is getting better and better. Some teach that Christians will one day take over the world and then hand it to Jesus. But it's time to admit that the world is in a downward spiral. In days like these, all the old worldly happy talk just makes for a deeper and more abiding despondency. On the other hand, what peace it is to understand that God knew in advance about a coming time of pestilence. Not only did He know, He told us so that we could know, too. He said these things would happen more and more as Christ's return grew closer. This is not a time for anguish, but for joyous realization that God's word is again proving to be true. You can trust it. Jesus told us about these days two thousand years ago. And that's a miracle! The scripture clearly teaches that the worst of the end-time events will take place during the seven years of what theologians often call Daniel's 70th week. It is popularly known as the tribulation. For Christians, I have good news. If you know Christ today, you will not be here for the tribulation. Either you will die before it begins, or you will be caught up with the Lord at the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-54). The rapture will include the resurrection of those who have died in Christ. In the meantime, there will be difficult days. We can face them with the sure and certain knowledge of God's love and providence. Others face the difficulties with a hope only in science and the mind of man. Important as those things are, they are inadequate for our most important needs. More than ever, we need to spread the word of Jesus. The world needs the Gospel, and we need to do everything we can to spread it. We need to use every communications platform, every highway, every opportunity. We need to give to ministries that are spreading the word. And we need to spread the word ourselves. The time is growing short. In John 9:4, Jesus said, "We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work." The president and founder of Crown College, Dr. Clarence Sexton, makes note of the extraordinary provenance of the 45th president's family Bible on a YouTube video, wondering if it's current place of residence heralds something significant coming to America. In the late 1940s two elderly sisters, Peggy and Christine Smith, had begun to pray for revival on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, approximately 50 miles off the west coast of Scotland. "One was blind and one was humped over so badly with spinal stenosis, but they had a passion for revival," Dr. Sexton noted. "They wanted God to work." Because of the two sisters' physical condition, they couldn't get to the church to pray or worship. "Their house became a place to meet; people came in. They had passion about revival coming to their island, the Isle of Lewis." They persuaded their pastor to invite an evangelist named Duncan Campbell to come to their island and preach the gospel. He had been ministering in the area around Edinburgh, Scotland, and initially resisted the call. It was only at the third invitation that Campbell accepted. Over the following years he traveled from village to village on the Isle of Lewis preaching the Word with power, and many people were converted, according to Andrew Woolsey's biography of the evangelist. "The fire of God struck that tiny little obscure place off the coast of Scotland," Dr. Sexton recounted. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit between 1949 and 1952 became known as the Lewis Awakening or the Hebrides Revival. "There was a teenage boy who got saved in it. His name was Donald Smith. The preacher became so dependent on Donald and so close to Donald he would ask him to lead in public prayers and help him with the meetings." On the same island, a young cousin of Donald's, Mary Anne, grew up and immigrated to America in 1930, arriving one day after her 18th birthday. Mary Anne came ashore with $50 to her name and worked for at least four years as a domestic servant, living with her older sister on Long Island. She met a man named Fred Trump; they fell in love, and were married. The two older women, who were her aunts, sent Mary Anne a copy of the Bible that had been used in a special way in the Hebrides Revival. Fred and Mary Anne's fourth child was named after someone special that touched Mary Anne's life. "She was so impacted by this teenage boy that God used in that revival in the Hebrides, she named him Donald," Dr. Sexton explained. "And she gave him that Bible, the Hebrides revival Bible. He was born in 1946. He is now the 45th president of the United States and that revival Bible is in the Oval Office." Dr. Sexton is struck by the background of the Bible, and its possible connection to this historical moment. "I don't know how it all comes together, but I believe God is putting some things together to give us a window-just a window-if He could find some open people who know what the window is for," Dr. Sexton said. "Could this be the time when the windows open, providentially, God has prepared the moment? And will we become the people of prayer, pleading with God-this is a plea-'Will Thou not revive us again?' Will you be a part of that? Will you?" Postscript: Duncan Campbell became a visiting lecturer at YWAM's School of Evangelism at Lausanne in Switzerland, and died while lecturing there. "He was outspoken about two aspects of the work of the Holy Spirit. The first was that, in his view, a true revival was a move of God that affected, not only church members, but the surrounding community in a way that was visible to all parties concerned (work stopping, bars closing, crime ceasing, etc.). "The second was the definite and profound experience of the baptism of the Holy Spirit subsequent to conversion. His practice in evangelistic meetings was not to make the usual altar call, but to invite people to come to another room to pray and seek God. In his ministry in Lewis, he sought to transcend denominational boundaries, but this was at times difficult. "Duncan Campbell was, before everything else, a man of prayer and almost invariably started the day with a period of prayer and study of the Bible. He said, "Revival is a community saturated with God." Campbell witnessed firsthand the Spirit of God descending upon a community and learned to let the Holy Spirit have His way. My Dad's birthday was Christmas Eve, so there was always a community party with people stopping and visiting, yes partying, after we came home from Christmas Eve services. Usually, people would give us some time to open presents before they would start coming. My folks always tried to get me something special that I wanted. I remember the Jimmy Jet, a console like an airplane cockpit. It was pretty expensive, over $10 in say 1961, sold in grocery stores only. It was a must have. Imagine my disappointment when I realized I couldn't "fly, fly, fly" around the house like the TV commercial implied. In 1967, it was a far more dangerous toy. When we got back from church services, there was this long, narrow package wrapped up and leaning against a chair by the tree. I couldn't wait to open it because I just knew my Olympic career as a ski jumper was about to begin. Don't need a Jimmy Jet to fly, the skis and a good hill would do the trick. I guess I am starting to sound as if my childhood was a bit like Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies-every week it was a different adventure, a different vocation. Deep down in, I always was, and still am, a Cowboy, but I digress. The skis were navy blue, about five feet long, made of fiberglass. The boot binding was leather straps, like sandals, riveted into the ski. The ski poles were made from bamboo with leather straps to go around your wrists. They had a circle made out of bamboo at the bottom that was held on with leather spokes. Cool. I couldn't wait to try out the skis. But wait, I must. It was too dark outside, and it was too late when everyone left. The next morning, with visions of an Olympian ski jumper in my creative little mind, I rushed downstairs and tried on the skis. I was sliding around the house, getting the feel for them. Then I had a great idea. Go to the top of the steps and ski down. It would be a beautiful thing-practice one part of the ski jump and not even have to go out in the cold. I hoisted the skis upon my shoulder and ascended the 13 steep steps build around 1840. I got to the top, strapped on my skis, struck my crouched position, and boom, boom, boom. It was a rough ride bouncing down those steps hitting my butt on each one. Then there was the sudden stop. Fortunately, nothing was broken. But it did wake up my parents, who put an end to that. During Christmas vacation, I took the skis over to my friend Sonny's place. He had a nice hill in the back. Sonny strapped on those skis and looked like a pro. We took turns. Once again, I booted up and headed down the hill. Gaining speed on a straightaway. Doing great. Uh-oh. I was going so fast that I couldn't stop and there was a barbed wire fence closing in fast. Somehow, I went down and slid under the lowest strand, ripping up some clothing and scraping up some flesh. Sonny, after seeing I was OK, laughed and laughed. So did I amid the blood dripping from my wounds. I knew then I wasn't cut out for the slopes. But Sonny and I had some fun with those crazy skis-in the yard, out in the woods, wherever. Isaiah 1:18 says in part, "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Sometimes the snow can be scarlet, too. Daily Devotion: You Never Plan to Fall - by Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. -Jeremiah 3:22 Awhile back, I'd taken up racquetball again. I hate treadmills and cardio, but I will run endlessly around in circles to chase a silly little ball with a racket. One time, I was running to get a shot, and somehow, I pivoted and landed flat on my back. Some guy who was on a treadmill stopped and said, "Are you okay?" I was okay, but I had to take some Tylenol afterward. The thing was, I wasn't planning on falling. And a lot of times that happens to us spiritually. People fall, and they weren't planning on it. But maybe they were setting themselves up for a fall. I think when a person falls away spiritually, it's because there's neglect in their spiritual life. Because they're failing to move forward, they naturally (but not immediately) start going backward. Then one day they wake up and say, "How did I end up in this state? How did I end up in this place I'm in? I don't remember when this happened." That's because it happened gradually. The Bible warns about backsliding in Jeremiah 2:19: "'Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backslidings will rebuke you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing that you have forsaken the Lord your God, and the fear of Me is not in you,' says the Lord God of hosts" (NKJV). Then, in Jeremiah 3:22, God says, "Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings" (NKJV). We need to be on guard against this, because the Bible says that one of the signs of the last days will be people falling away from the faith. We want to be very careful that we don't become those people. And if you're not moving forward, then you're automatically going backward.
