Behold the Fig Tree And All The Trees - By Jack Kinsella -
www.omegaletter.com "And He spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees." (Luke 21:30) In the Scriptures, there are three specific trees that are used as euphemisms for Israel; the vine, the fig tree and the olive. In Scripture, the vine is the symbol of Israel's spiritual privileges; the fig tree symbolizes Israel's national privileges and the olive tree symbolizes Israel's religious privileges. "Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars. (Psalms 80:8-10) The Psalmist is here painting a graphic picture of Israel being removed from the soil of Egypt and being transplanted into the fertile soil of Israel. Once the "Vine" was transplanted it began to grow and spread over the land, until in the words of the Psalmist, it sent out its boughs unto the Mediterranean Sea, and its branches unto the Euphrates river, as in the reign of King Solomon. "Now will I sing to my Well-Beloved a song of my Beloved touching His Vineyard. My Well-Beloved hath a VINEYARD in a very fruitful hill (Canaan): and He fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the CHOICEST VINE, and built a Tower in the midst of it, and also made a Winepress therein." (Isaiah 5:1-2) The olive tree is used to symbolize Israel and the Church by the Apostle Paul: "For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee." (Romans 11:16-18) The Apostle Paul refers to the good olive tree (Israel) and the wild olive tree (the Gentiles). The good olive tree was "good" because it was separated, or set apart, (holy), whereas branches from the wild olive tree (the Gentiles) are grafted in. "For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?" (Romans 11:24) Notice carefully that the good olive tree (Israel) is NOT rooted up and destroyed with the wild olive tree planted in its place. That would be the case if the replacement theologians were right and that the Gentile Church has taken the place of Israel. "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:" (Romans 11:25-26) Instead, the good olive tree remains alive and gives life to both the good tree and the wild tree. The Church does not supplant or replace Israel, it is grafted in to the existing tree. Paul explains that "blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in." That is to say, during the Church Age, God's attention is focused on the Gentiles until that last Gentile (whom God foreknew would be saved) has been saved, bringing in the full number of Gentile believers. When every Gentile that is going to be saved has been saved, THEN. . . ". . . the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) The fig tree is the third, and most often-used symbol for Israel. The Bible teaches that as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him to ask Him "what will be the sign of Thy coming? In His reply, Jesus listed three major signs recognizable to the Jews. The appearance of the "Abomination of Desolation" spoken of in Daniel 9:27 (the revelation of antichrist). The sign of the Son of Man appearing in a cloud (Acts 1:9, Matthew 24:30) The sign of the "Fig Tree" - symbolizing the regathering of the Jews into their own land. The fig tree is a particularly appropriate symbol in that on the fig tree, the fruit appears BEFORE the tree blossoms. The Bible says that first, Israel is regathered into her own land, and only after that does the nation "blossom" with the return of the Husbandman. The restoration of Israel is like the budding of a fig tree in the springtime symbolizing a tree about to blossom - symbolic of Israel's national privileges. The "fig tree" began to put forth its leaves on May 14, 1948, beginning the countdown to the end of the Church Age at the Rapture and kicking off what the Prophet Jeremiah called "The Time of Jacob's Trouble." But is there some way of confirming that? Assessment: According to Bible prophecy, in the last days, there will come into existence, a revived form of the political Roman Empire. The Prophet Daniel predicted that the antichrist will be a prince of the people that would destroy the city and the sanctuary (Jerusalem and the Temple). In 1948, as Europe struggled to rebuild, six nations in Western Europe signed the Benelux Customs Union, beginning the process of European unification that was codified in March, 1957 with the treaty of Rome. And so, a unified Europe looks back to its foundation on January 1, 1948. Is that significant? We've examined this question before, but it is worth going back to for another re-think. The Bible also predicted the development of an apostate form of Christianity that will have world-wide authority. Revelation 13:11 describes this religious system as "having two horns like a lamb" - symbols of Christianity. The World Council of Churches was born in Amsterdam in 1948. The WCC is not a 'global religion' but is the closest thing we currently have to a global religious authority that purports to speak for world-wide Christianity. The Bible also predicts the rise of a centralized global economic authority that will become one of the antichrist's principle methods of economic control. The World Trade Organization - a trade organization empowered to regulate the global economy - saw its genesis in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, enacted by the UN in 1948. The Bible predicted that global economy will fall under the control of a single individual who will be able to regulate commerce down to the individual level - "That no man might buy or sell" (Revelation 13:17). Such individual control was impossible before the advent of computers. Although computers had been invented during World War II, they were huge, bulky monsters that used notoriously unreliable and hugely inefficient vacuum tubes. The first computers were slower than a pocket calculator, filled huge environmentally sealed rooms and required enough electricity to power a small city. That all changed in 1948 when Bell Labs patented the transistor chip, signaling the official birth of the Computer Age. That final age would be marked by 'rumors of war' - (Matthew 24:7). The ultimate 'rumor of war' was the Cold War. It began with the Berlin Airlift of 1948. The Soviet collapse was a direct result of the cost of fighting the Cold War. Earthquakes began to show a marked increase in size, scope and intensity in 1948. The modern period of ethnic unrest can be traced to the death of colonialism beginning in 1948. Increasing 'pestilence' or deadly disease, can be traced to 1948, with the introduction of sulfa drugs and the over-prescription of antibiotics. Economic 'kingdoms' began with the first multinational corporations in 1948. The decline in world-wide morality can be traced to the moment that it became acceptable to use abortion as a method of birth control. The Japanese Eugenics Act - the first legal abortion on demand legislation ever passed in modern society - was passed in 1948. American Margaret Sanger was so impressed with the idea that she founded the premier abortion rights advocacy group - Planned Parenthood - in 1948. The Supreme Court ruled for the first time, that public schools could not use taxpayer funds for religious purposes, discovering in the process, the modern principle of "separation of church and state" (McCollum v Board of Education, 1948) In 1948, Mao Tse Tung's Communists chased Chiang Kai Shek's nationalists off the mainland to the Island of Formosa and renamed itself Taiwan, and declared itself the legitimate government of China. The conflict between the two Chinas further rearranged regional political alliances until they fit the alignment foretold by the prophets. Other related events that trace their roots to the same year as the budding of the fig tree include; commercial television, holography, cybernetics, meteorology, the nuclear arms race, microelectronics, the Big Bang, the birth of NATO, the Cold War, the UN adoption of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and the Kinsey Report that kicked off the "sexual revolution." Israel is the centerpiece of Bible prophecy. Its existence and history are proof positive of the accuracy of Bible prophecy. To this point in the historical record, Bible prophecy - where it can be proved at all - has proved to be 100% accurate, 100% of the time. It continues to unfold before our eyes. We've only touched on the high points in the Big Picture, but the pattern is unmistakable. Events foretold to take place in a single generation, somewhere in time - events that can only happen once - are coming together - all at once and in THIS generation. The same God that predicted what has already occurred with such unerring accuracy will continue to perform His Will until His Purpose is accomplished. Bible prophecy proves God is still on His Throne and is intimately concerned with the affairs of men. "Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:" (Isaiah 46:9-10) That promise has no expiration date. God's blueprint for the future will continue to unfold with the same accuracy in the days ahead as it has in millennia past. Prophecy is His signature of authenticity. And our confidence is well placed. "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." (Luke 21:28) Israel and the Secret of 70 - https://www.jewsnews.co.il/2018/04/18/israel-and-the-secret-of-70.html The number 70 was singled out for special attention in ways that make this Yom HaAtzmaut particularly meaningful. In Jewish tradition numbers have special meaning and can convey crucial insights for our understanding of Jewish history. On the eve of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the birth of the state of Israel and the miraculous return of our people to our national homeland after almost 2000 years of exile, let us ask: "Who knows seventy?" Who knows its secret and deeper meaning? Seventy isn't merely a nice round number. Long ago the number was singled out for special attention in ways that make this Yom HaAtzmaut particularly meaningful. At the Passover Seder we almost tangentially met the number 70. Rabbi Eliezer ben Azarya admitted that he never knew the biblical source for the commandment to remember the Exodus from Egypt every night as well as day until he merited learning the source from another sage. Strangely, he introduces his joy in his newfound wisdom with the words "Behold I am like someone 70 years of age." Commentators are all perplexed. We know that Rabbi Eliezer was in fact only 18 years old at the time. Many fanciful explanations are given to resolve the question. But the fact remains that in order to express the idea of old age he used the number seventy. And why was that? Surely it was a reference to the verse in the book of Psalms: "The days of our lives are threescore and ten" (Psalms, 90:10). Seventy is the proverbial biblical lifespan. Those are the number of years we are normally granted to achieve our mission on earth. Rabbi Eliezer, although he was only 18, feared he would live out his days without knowing a fundamental truth of Torah. His great happiness was the feeling that he was now "like someone seventy years of age", the age at which we are to measure our achievements, reflect on our accomplishments, and take stock of our life's journey and purpose. It is true for our lives. It is also true for our land. Seventy is the number which demands reflection. It is the number which defines a generation. It is intimately linked with judgment - so much so that in Jewish law the Supreme Court, the Sanhedrin, was composed of 70 members, just as there were 70 elders in the days of Moses. More, 70 was the key to the creation of the Jewish people. The book of Exodus, moving the story of our ancestors from family to nation, tells us "And it was that all those who were direct descendants of Jacob were seventy souls" (1:5). The entire Passover story, the slavery as well as the Exodus, had its beginning with the very same number identified with biblical lifespan. Seventy is opportunity. Seventy is potential. And 70 is the number which reminds us that we are judged by the same divine standards that governed the rulings of the Sanhedrin. In a remarkable commentary of the midrash on the verse in the Torah which tells us that there were 70 who originally descended to Egypt, the problem was raised that a count of Jacob's family members gives us only 69. Why does the Torah tell us 70? Of the various answers given, the one which perhaps has the most relevance to this year's 70th anniversary celebration of Yom HaAtzmaut is that God included himself in the number! God could not exclude himself from his people. That is why those who went into the first exile were able to survive. And that is why, too, the state of Israel, surrounded by enemies who from its inception threatened its destruction and attacked it numerous times, nonetheless survived; more than survived, Israel prospered. It was God who was part of the original 70. It is God who remains the only rational explanation for the 70-year miracle of modern-day Israel. To speak of Israel today after its first 70 years from birth is to acknowledge a dual reality. On the one hand, it would be foolish to maintain that Israel has achieved the vision of the prophets, that it has realized the perfection of its messianic destiny. There is much that remains to be done. Seventy years witnessed the accomplishments of one generation. History requires additional 70-year periods, future generations to each one of whom is given the task of bringing us closer to the final goal. But we should not minimize what we have lived to see, what has already been accomplished. And that is good. Because, as you've heard me say so often, Israel is God's time clock. End-times prophecy kicked into high gear when Israel became a modern nation back on May 14, 1948. It fulfilled Isaiah's incredible prophecy, found in Isaiah 66, that Israel would be reborn in a day. Even Isaiah was incredulous: "Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once?" (Isaiah 66:8 NASB) And just to punctuate the unbelievable -- that a nation could be born in a single day -- God put a little cherry on top to prove that these are, indeed, unusual days and that His Word can be believed even when it seems impossible. Not only was Israel born in a day, but it was recognized by the world's greatest power just 11 minutes later. 11 minutes! No grass grew under Harry Truman's feet! Isaiah probably didn't even know what a minute was. If he found it difficult to believe Israel could be born in a day, he certainly could have never understood what an incredible miracle it was that the nascent nation was afforded instant legitimacy in the time it takes to brew a cup of coffee. But God doesn't do things halfway. And when God says it, He means it. On April 18-19, Israel officially celebrated its 70th anniversary. According to the Jewish calendar, on which Israel operates, the 70th anniversary occurred this past week. According to the Gregorian calendar, on which most of the rest of the world operates, the anniversary will fall on May 14, 2018. Not to worry, though. The nation will celebrate again so that we can all join in. As I said earlier, many of the prophecies concerning the end of this Age of Grace could only be fulfilled after the Jews were regathered in their ancient homeland and became a national entity. Against all odds and in defiance of the overwhelming physical forces that surrounded them, that occurred 70 years ago. Since then, prophecies concerning these days have been rapidly coming to pass. In fact, it is breathtaking to consider the movement in the prophetic scenario that has occurred in just the few years I have been reporting them on this program and on my previous program, "The International Intelligence Briefing." That's why our opening line each week is "Yesterday's prophecies. Today's headlines." Not the least of those dramatic developments is the formation of the alliance between Russia, Iran, and Turkey. Historically, the nations have been enemies. Even just a short few years ago, this alliance would have been impossible. But Ezekiel predicted that these three specific nations would join together to launch an assault on Israel. (Ezekiel 38 & 39) Now, they are cooperating militarily, Russia is protecting Iran in the United Nations, Turkey is under dictatorial rule once again, and Russia has established military bases next door to Israel in Syria. And all of that has coalesced in just the last few years. Another breathtaking, seemingly impossible prophecy that has come to pass. And why is it so important to be aware of these "end-times" developments? Because Jesus said that the generation that sees Israel reborn would not fully pass away until it also sees His return for His bride. (Matthew 24:30-36, Mark 13:30, Luke 21:32) The clock is ticking. No matter how you define a "generation" (and there are multiple definitions), 70 years means that the major part of it has passed and there can't be much left. That's why it's important to make sure you, your family, and your loved ones have accepted the free gift of pardon that Jesus Christ bought for you with His death on the cross. Be ready to go when Jesus returns. Which, literally, could be at any moment now. As you may have guessed by now, on this week's program I will be focusing on "Israel at 70." Celebrations have begun in Israel and Jewish conclaves throughout the world, at least most. Believe it or not, there are some Jews who believe the rebirth of Israel was the worst thing to happen to the modern world, like Bernie Sanders and George Soros. They disagreed with their very own prophets; and they disagreed with their very own God. Despite these Zionophobes and the many anti-Semitic roadblocks presented by the corrupt United Nations, Israel lives on. It has not been easy. Thanks to Arthur James Balfour, the impetus to restore the country of Israel got a big push in 1917. Sixty-seven words that changed the world: "His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country." Arthur James Balfour, British Foreign Minister, November 2, 1917 In the 18th century, the possibility of a new birth of Israel was remote and had been remote for about 2,500 years. Occasionally, those pesky prophecies predicting Israel's return to the world scene would raise their heads; but the intelligentsia, like Thomas Paine, scofflawed the possibility. It was not reasonable to think such a thing. For 2,500 years the mythologists had thrown those prophecies around, yet Israel remained stateless and scattered. There were many prophecies to throw around, that's for sure; and here are a few: "In that day, I will restore David's fallen shelter- I will repair its broken walls and restore its ruins- and will rebuild it as it used to be, so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name," declares the Lord, who will do these things. This is what the Lord Almighty says: "I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God." Zechariah 8:7-8 NIV "The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills, and I will bring my people Israel back from exile. "They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the Lord your God. Amos 9:11-15 NIV "Therefore say: 'This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.'" Ezekiel 11:17 NIV May 15, 1948, on a single day, Israel was reborn. Not only did that fulfill the prophecies above, it also fulfilled the prophecy below: Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children. Isaiah 66:8 NIV Israel's labor pains in 1948, as mentioned by Isaiah, were great and immediate; and labor pains were also mentioned when Jesus was explaining the last days to his apostles. They too will be great. The Arab and Persian (Iran) world were in dismay and disarray, much as they are now, that Israel would be given back most of their land from the time of King David and Solomon. Now, as Israel celebrates her 70th year, other prophecies are being fulfilled. Jerusalem has been recognized as the capital of Jerusalem by the United States, the US Embassy is moving to Jerusalem after 70 years and Jerusalem has become even more of a burdensome stone to the world. Here are a few comments from Israel's peaceful neighbors, and there are more here: Ismail Haniyah, head of the Hamas government in Gaza: "Our position remains as it is, Palestine from the sea to the Jordan river. We will not agree to two states and not to the division of Jerusalem. I hereby call for terrorism and armed struggle ... We want the uprising to last and continue to let Trump and the occupation regret this decision." Saab Erekat, Palestinian negotiator: "President Trump has delivered a message to the Palestinian people: The two-state solution is over. Now is the time to transform the struggle to one of one state with equal rights for everyone living in historic Palestine, from the river to the sea." Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority: "These measures are a reward to Israel's violations of international resolutions and an encouragement for Israel to continue its policy of occupation, settlements, apartheid and ethnic cleansing." Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran: "Their announcement of Quds as the capital of Occupied Palestine proves their incompetence and failure. In regards to Palestine, they are helpless and unable to achieve their goals. Victory is for the Islamic nation. Palestine will be free, and the Palestinian people will be victorious. The modern-day pharaoh is represented by the U.S., the Zionist regime and their accomplices in the region, who seek to create wars in our region, and this is plotted by the U.S. ... The Islamic world will undoubtedly stand against this plot and the Zionists will receive a big blow from this action and dear Palestine will be liberated." Flashback to May 15, 1948. The New York Times headlines: ZIONISTS PROCLAIM NEW STATE OF ISRAEL; TRUMAN RECOGNIZES IT AND HOPES FOR PEACE; TEL AVIV IS BOMBED, EGYPT ORDERS INVASION The very day Israel became a country, they were attacked and invaded by 5 Arab, Islamic countries. As the Egyptian Air Force bombed Tel Aviv, neighbors Lebanon, Transjordan (Jordan), Syria and Iraq invaded the new country. This, as we know, turned out to be a big mistake for the invaders. Throughout history, including ancient Israel, the Arabs have usually come up short in their fights with Israel. Everyday, Israel looms closer to another war from her neighbors; and it looks like Russia will be invited next time. It is interesting that the prophets who described the final war, knew it would be in Israel. "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!" Matthew 23:37 ESV It won't be long now. Daily Jot: Media as enemy of the state - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com There is an interesting article by Philip Bump of the Washington Post posted by the Standard-Examiner about how President Donald Trump sees the media as an enemy of the American people. Bump uses the opportunity to run down the President by saying that his rants are just added to the "lengthy column" of "Things Trump did that most other presidents would never do." Then Bump gets to the point. He cites a Quinnipiac University poll that asked if certain news outlets were enemies of the American people. The results were nearly 40% said "yes" and more than 80% of Republicans surveyed said the media was an enemy of the American people. Another poll Bump cites is Pew Research Center's survey on what it means to be a good citizen. Bump writes: "Only 8 percent of respondents said they had a great deal of confidence in the news media to act in the best interests of the public-with Democrats expressing a great deal or a fair amount of confidence more than three times the rate of Republicans." Of course, Bump blames Trump for turning the people against the media. And this is part of the problem-the media itself is so biased that it cannot even fathom it is biased. The Media Research Center documents that the overwhelming majority of the media (some 80% -plus) votes Democratic--a direct correlation to the 90% negative news media against Trump and Republicans. On April 24th, Trump wrote in an email to supporters: "My staff asked, "Mr. President, the White House Correspondents' Dinner is coming up. Will you go?" I said, "Why would I want to be stuck in a room with a bunch of fake news liberals who hate me?" I came up with something much better. I'm going to hold a rally in Michigan to spend the evening with my favorite deplorables who love our movement and love America!" This is a far cry from the last Correspondents' Dinner attended by the immediate past "president." He told them, "But we've always shared the same goal -- to root our public discourse in the truth; to open the doors of this democracy; to do whatever we can to make our country and our world more free and more just. And I've always appreciated the role that you have all played as equal partners in reaching these goals." The ex "president" described a free press as one that partners with and has the same goals as the White House, his administration, in particular. This is not a free press. Trouble is, the news media, through years of communistic and socialistic brainwashing, largely has become the lapdog of leftists, Marxists, Islamists, and anarchists. The press, rather than doing its job of reporting the facts, has become a massive opinion machine disguised as news. When the media abrogates its responsibility and aligns itself with a political ideal, Isaiah 59:14 comes to mind: "And justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter." And the media wonders why they are considered enemies of the American people. Strong delusion is upon them. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold. -Psalm 19:7-10 Most of us look back at our high school yearbook photos in shock. We ask ourselves, "What was I thinking?" Things are always changing and shifting. Culture changes. Fashion changes. Technology changes. And of course, hairstyles change. In contrast, God's Word is always fresh. It's always new. The Scriptures tell us, "Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV). And not only is the Word of God always new, but it is perfect. That is in direct contrast to the flawed, imperfect reasoning of humanity today. The Word of God is also a treasure. Psalm 19:10 says these truths are more desirable than gold. We should open the Bible with an attitude that says, "I want to see what's in the Word of God for me today. How can God speak to me from the Scriptures?" The Bible is precious. When you reach the last day of your life, you are not going care about a cool car.
