http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8445 After eight painful years of democrats running Washington D.C., and by extension, large portions of the world, November 8th, 2016 will forever be branded in their minds as an American version of "Nakba Day." This day of calamity has engendered much angst, aggression, and vitriol because it caught them completely unaware. All the "experts" had Hillary Clinton enthroned as president with electoral landslide. This is because liberals in media, academia, and Hollyweird had become so entrenched and brainwashed with their own propaganda that they truly believed their reign of power would never come to an end. This level of complete disconnect from reality, really only has two examples that even quantify as comparable in recent times: Adolph Hitler's belief that he could usher in a 1,000 year Reich, and our modern-day North Korean propagandists promoting Kim Jong Un as a demi-god. Unfortunately for most of American, liberal angst and disillusionment do not remain shuttered in safe-spaces very long. It is seething, and seething leads to violence, and violence to lawlessness. And because their political losses were so massive, the lefts' only options remaining are either outright civil war or death by a thousand cuts. It should be no surprise that no US President has ever been more grateful to trade in the blistering political intrigue of D.C., for the blistering Saudi Arabian summer heat as President Trump is. As noted author and professor, Victor Davis Hanson rightfully stated in a recent television interview, this relentless and vitriolic onslaught on the President (and anyone associated with him) as a slow-motion coup. It is open and active attacks are meant to derail and dethrone the current US President by any means necessary. In other words, it is active political warfare meant to override the results of the election by other means. Unfortunately, Pres. Trump has almost as many enemies on the right, as he does on the left. Fair to say when you threaten to drain the swamp, it rattles all the cages. Entrenched power (right or left) does not go quietly into the night. Liberals, globalists, and socialists despise the restraints put on power by the Constitution and have been trying to usurp it for the better part of two centuries. If Obama was meant to be the death-stroke to the Constitution, then Hillary was certainly meant to be the nail in its coffin. Trump's victory thus derailed all that and has rattled the doors to the very gates of hell itself, awakening a dark and angry spirit. Assessment Although the current political and intrigue might seem unprecedented, it was, however, not unforeseen. God has already seen how this plays out and as One who appoints kings and kingdoms (Daniel 2:20-22), this is working out exactly according to His plans and His purposes. Trump was meant to win at this particular point in history. I believe that while we don't/can't know the plans and purposes exactly, we can make some interesting observations about the signs of the times. As mentioned in previous briefs, I believe that in dealing with the nation of Israel, God has used times and patterns in time to draw attention to their unique role they play on the world's stage. God seemingly dealt with Israel in times past in reoccurring 490-year cycles. The last (Daniel's 70 Weeks) has one remaining week of years left to finish. Although I am not a prophet nor omniscient, I can read what God's word has to say and apply a little bit of geopolitical common sense to our current day and age to forecast likely outcomes. A recap:
Let's say hypothetically that all of these numbers and their alignment with biblical patterns are completely coincidental. Let's say that I and others are just reading way too much into 2017 this year is no more significant to Israel than 2013 was. How much longer then, does the nation of Israel share the same global stage as the universal body of Christ (i.e., the Church)? If we look back at the first century, Israel and the Church only overlapped by 37-38 years roughly. We know God is longsuffering (2 Peter 3:9), so perhaps that explains why we are approaching 70 years this time around. So the two things we can know for certain is that Daniel's 70th Week will play out exactly according to Scripture, and the Church is not destined to be on the earth when this does happen. (1 Thess. 1:10; 2:19; 5:1-11, Revelation 3:10) Puzzling Pieces It is interesting that we see Donald Trump shock the world by taking the highest office of the most powerful nation on earth in the 40th year after the beginning of the Camp David Accords. As you know, the Camp David Accords began a 40-year unicorn-hunt trying to find this ever- elusive peace deal. The only problem with any Arab-Israeli peace deal is that it's hard to have real peace with a group of people who have sworn to annihilate you and drive you off into the ocean. Thus, the West (the EU and US) have only ever become increasingly drunken with political blindness that they could divide and parcel out Jerusalem to whomever they chose and peace would ensue (Zech. 12:2-3). I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. Joel 3:2 Trump has called the Israeli-Palestinian peace deal the ultimate deal he'd love to broker. But he's also stated that any peace deal, ultimately, has to be one that both the Israelis and Palestinians unequivocally supports. His Jewish son in law Jared Kushner, along with his daughter Ivanka, are set to play central roles in any future peace deal. Part of this deal is making the Sunni Arabs happy by ensuring their own continued authority in a region racked by upheaval and coup d'états thanks in part to Obama's Arab Spring. Trump is set to openly endorse (a US first) the creation of an Arab NATO, which is designed specifically to counter terrorism and the growing Iranian threat of destabilization across the Middle East. This, of course, will have the unintended (or perhaps intended) consequence of driving Iran further into Russia's bearish arms. This will naturally draw in another Middle East outcast, Erdogan's Caliphate (formerly known as Turkey), and any other nation too destabilized to muster a proper army. I am looking at you Sudan and Libya! Any student of the Bible already knows where this article is headed. Ezekiel 38-39 is a prophecy about a coming war (never been fulfilled) in which an alliance of nations come against Israel in the last days called the battle of Gog and Magog. The nations mentioned for sure are Libya (Phut), Sudan/Somalia (Cush), and Iran (Persia). Other nations we can be fairly certain of through historical references look an awful lot like Russia and Turkey. A wise old man once said, "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck." We see in the Middle East a resurgent Iran, aligned tightly with a resurgent Russia, and drawing in an angry Turkey (see the reference back to ducks). In this war, the modern day equivalents of Europe (merchants of Tarshish and the young lions thereof) and Saudi Arabia (Sheba and Dedan) do not side with Israel, but merely lodge a complaint at this gross example of wanton violence committed by Gog and Magog's coalition. If the Arabs were to form a NATO-type organization, and they are only slightly more inclined to be friendly to Israel as they would be Russia/Iran alliance...how does that old saying go "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake" (Napoleon Bonaparte)...what do they have to lose? The answer: nothing. They're letting one enemy fight another while it weakens both. As crazy as we may like to think Russia, Turkey, and Iran might be, they will not make a military move like that so long as the United States remains firmly entrenched in Israel's good graces (or vice-versa). Something has to sideline the United States first and potentially make it so that the EU has no time or taste for action in regards to coming to Israel's aid. To be fair, the EU doesn't have much military muscle, to begin with, so without US backing, the EU could not march off for another Holy Land Crusade even if it wanted too. So the real question is, what sidelines the United States from backing one of our strongest allies? Two of the most likely courses of action could come in the form of some type of economic-Armageddon which makes it impossible for the US to act even if it wanted too. Or it could be the Rapture of the Church, which would at the very least, decimate the US's ability to project military power abroad by instantly removing millions of people from the United States, thus throwing the nation into massive turmoil. Strategically speaking, having a lot of born-again Christians in a nation is not geopolitically good for that nation as we draw near the end. Which is perhaps why we see the aggressiveness of the antichrist spirit infecting every aspect of American life. Psalm 2 notes that the leaders of the world are actively working against God and His Anointed (Jesus Christ). We see the United Nations and almost every government ignoring the persecution of Christians worldwide, and also working to divide and diminish Israel. The last days according to the Bible are replete with passages which speak to two basic categories: increased evil and violence and that all the nations of the world will come against Israel. We need only look around today to see a world embroiled in violence and wickedness. We need to look no further than the United Nations, EU, and former US administration's continued assault against Israel's existence. Setting aside the time-date "coincidences" of the last 120 years, IF these are not the tell-tale signs of the very last minutes of the last hour, I do not know what is. But God does. And God looks at man's scheming and machinations, of setting up thrones made of crumbly sand and HE laughs. A frightening thought indeed. Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us." He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion." Even so, Maranatha! 
What Time Is It on God's Calendar? Watch Jerusalem - By Barry Elkin -
http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=1261 In the twenty-fifth chapter of Leviticus is found God's giving of the Jubilee to the nation of Israel. "And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family." Every seventh year was a Sabbath year and after seven Sabbath years numbering forty-nine years in all, they were to proclaim the following year, the fiftieth year a jubilee. One of the primary functions of the jubilee was to return every possession unto its original owner. The institution of the Jubilee Year became the means of fixing the price of real property and moreover, it excluded the possibility of selling any piece of land permanently. In verse 23 God furnishes the motive: "The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me." And so the primary object of the jubilee was of course, the reversion of all hereditary property to the family which originally possessed it, and the reestablishment of the original arrangement regarding the division of the land. Now, lest you think that the jubilee year is no longer of importance to God if not the nation of Israel, let me give you a fairly recent illustration. In the New Testament in prophesying about the coming destruction of the Great Temple and the dispersion of the people Jesus said in Luke 21:24, "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled". In accordance with this prophecy Jerusalem has been oppressed by one heathen power after another all down thru the centuries since Titus destroyed the Temple, took hundreds of thousands as slaves in 70 A.D. Then in 131 A.D. after the Bar Kochba revolution Hadrian drove the Jews from Palestine in what is called the diaspora until its final Islamic ruler, The Ottoman Empire of the Turks. In 1914 WW I began and God caused the Turks to make a deadly error in judgment having them side with Germany in WW I. Few people are aware of the divine planning in the deliverance of Jerusalem and that it was so explicitly foretold by Isaiah about 2500 years earlier. In Isaiah 31:5 he wrote, (Now read carefully the words that the Lord our God spoke thru the prophet). "As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it". In December of 1917 the British Commander General Allenby and his army approached the city of Jerusalem held and strongly fortified by the Ottoman Turks. A long and bloody battle was anticipated to wrest the city from the Turks with much damage being done to the city by the British shelling. In order to gain information about the Turkish defenses he had two British airplanes fly in low at high speed to and fro, back and forth over the city. This scared the Turks, many of whom had never seen an airplane and to their untrained ears the name of Allenby, the British commander took on the sound of "allah's bey" meaning god's will and so they fled their positions, surrendered the city to Allenby without firing a single shot nor was a single structure damaged. Now there were a number of British air squadrons stationed in the Middle East at the time but a particular one was chosen to fly that mission. In detailed fulfillment of Isaiah, the Number 14 bomber squadron of the Royal Flying Corps (Now the R.A.F.) took Jerusalem just as God had said, "As birds flying they defended it, defending it they delivered it and passing over it, they preserved it" That's a pretty good fulfillment of bible prophecy by itself but the part of this event that will really give you shivers just thinking about it is to be found in the motto of the bomber squadron chosen for the task. A motto that was chosen two years earlier in 1915 when the squadrons were first formed. Inscribed on the shoulder patch and painted onto the side of each bi-plane were the words, "I spread my wings and keep my promise." When I first read this, though I do not doubt Our God in any way, it just seemed so incredible that I had to find out on my own whether this was actually true or the fanciful writing of someone wanting to put together a nice story for we believers to enjoy much later. After all, you have to admit that that scripture coming together so many years later with that particular squadron with that particular motto on the planes that just happened to be chosen for that mission IS pretty incredible. So with the now ease of using the computer as a tool of research I was after many attempts able to track down records of the 14th bomber squadron as part of the Royal Flying corps. It no longer exists as such but is now a part of the RAF since the end of World War I but I was able to find a page of information on it including its insignia and its motto. I wasn't that surprised to find that the insignia and motto bore out the original story but being able to locate it after all these years was pretty amazing but there was something more amazing that I discovered after examining it closely. It was the source of the motto that was just as amazing as the entire story considering who it was that held the city when it was taken by the British. As we all know now it was the Turks of the Ottoman Empire who were obviously Islamic and had as their holy book the Quran. Here is what the squadron insignia looks like and what it says right in the center of the page. Look closely at the writing under the words RAF Lossiemouth: Can you even believe that the motto is from the Arabic Quran? How ironic is that? WOW! Do we have an awesome God or what? So the city was delivered from the Turks and fell back into the hands of Christian nations in 1917 but it was governed by the British and half of it was still held and controlled by the Arabs. So what has that to do with the Jubilee years? Well, that event occurred in 1917 and in the following year the Balfour Declaration was issued which declared its intent to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine. As was previously shown, Israel became a nation when it had matured thirty years later in 1948 but she still had not acquired complete governance and control of Jerusalem. It was still a divided city. Then, exactly FIFTY years later, after it's return from the Turks of the Ottoman Empire, in 1967 in a war not planned by Israel but most definitely by Our God, the Jews captured the Arab portion of Jerusalem and annexed it to keep and so in the Jubilee year of Jerusalem, the property of Israel reverted back to its original owner. This has really gotten me wondering what may be in the works for this next jubilee of Jerusalem Let's see; FIFTY added to 1967 is, ah.....2017. 
Renowned Rabbis Decode Trump's "Auspicious" Visit on Day of Sixes - By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz -

I Kings 8:41-42 (The Israel Bible™) Though parts of President Trump's itinerary while in Israel are still undecided, and the political agenda, especially concerning the moving of the US embassy to Jerusalem, are still in flux, for two Israeli rabbis everything about the major political event is clear and revealed. President Trump landed in Israel on Monday morning, which is coincidentally the 26th day of the Hebrew month of Iyyar, the 50th anniversary of the first day of the Six-Day War. Rabbi Matityahu Glazerson, an expert in Bible Codes, explained how this repetition of sixes is significant. "This day is too auspicious to be a coincidence," Rabbi Glazerson said in a video about the president's visit. "It is a day with great potential. If it is good, it can be amazing, but if it is not good, it can be very bad indeed." This assessment very much reflects the all-or-nothing nature of the six-day war of survival Israel fought in 1967. Beginning with indefensible borders, nine miles wide at the narrowest, the Israeli Air Force sent out all but twelve of its combat aircraft in an early morning raid. By noon, the IAF had succeeded in effectively destroying the Jordanian, Syrian, and Egyptian air forces. Rabbi Glazerson noted that Jews are currently counting the 49 days, or seven weeks, after Passover which culminate in the holiday of Shavuot (Weeks, or Pentecost). The day of President Trump's arrival will mark the sixth day of the sixth week, which in Kabbalistic terms represents foundation of the foundation, personified by Biblical character of Joseph. "Just as a foundation establishes what will follow, for good or bad, the real nature of Trump's visit will not become clear for some time," Rabbi Glazerson said. "This could be the setting of the foundation for the Temple, but what will actually come out of it depends on Israel's attachment to Torah and mitzvoth (commandments). In Judaism, six is the number of holiness and purity, and this is the day that the American president chose to arrive in Jerusalem." Rabbi Glazerson is an expert in Torah Codes, a method using a special computer program to search for series of letters in the Bible which reveals hidden messages in the Bible. He searched for the Hebrew date, the 26th of Iyyar 5777. The search found an occurrence in the Book of Deuteronomy, which Rabbi Glazerson explained represents the current millennium. Interconnected with the letters spelling out the date was the word 'Zion', which was adjacent to the Hebrew word, 'Mikdash' (Temple). These configurations surrounded the verse that commanded Israel to take the land of Israel. Go up and possess the land which I have given you. Deuteronomy 9:23 Another rabbi who believes that President Trump's massively public visit to Israel has a hidden nature is Rabbi Nir Ben Artzi, a prominent Israeli mystic with a significant following. "Donald Trump takes care of what is important to him personally. He does one thing publicly but privately, he works in a completely different manner," Rabbi Ben Artzi said in his regular lesson last week. "He talks quite a bit, but when it comes to his deeds, he does the right thing. Trump knows, for example, that Abu Mazen (Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas) is crooked, and Trump will act as if he is going along with him, but he will only go along for a little bit. "Trump intends to fix things in the world that were made crooked, and this is how he will do it. If he wasn't smart like this, he would not have become president. It is clear that is why he came to Israel: He respects the Jews." The real nature of President Trump's visit to Israel has been a mystery waiting to be solved. The most controversial aspect of his visit concerns his campaign promise to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It was originally speculated that since he will arrive on the day before Jerusalem Day, the day Israel celebrates the unification of the city in the Six-Day War, he would take the opportunity to dramatically announce his decision. It was revealed to the press last week that this would not be the case. Trump: Iran must disarm militias, never gain nuke -

Together we can end scores of years of violence," he said. Trump, who flew to Israel directly from Riyadh, reported on the strong consensus he found in the Muslim world on the need to stand up together against Iran. He cited Saudi King Salman in this consensus, adding that the monarch and other Arab rulers feel strongly about the need for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Many of them, he said, expressed the will to end extremism, after hearing his speech. He also found a growing realization among the Arab and Muslim leaders he met in Riyadh Sunday of "their common cause with Israel under threat from Iran" and a willingness to help in the peace effort. Trump said he was honored to be in the homeland of the Jewish people. He commended Israel's commitment to peace and said he looked forward to discussing the process with the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem Tuesday. In a throwaway remark to reporters on arrival at the president's residence, the US president said he had two first-rate envoys working on promoting a peace treaty, and named his special Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt and the new US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman. He joked: "If there is no peace, I'll know whom to blame." President Reuven Rivlin said: We can't wake up with Iran and Hezbollah on our border. We want Iran out of Syria, out of Lebanon and away from our borders, and we must move forward to this goal together with America." debkafile: Donald Trump once again rebutted media evaluations of his trip to Israel as a demonstration of friendship without real content. Very shortly after his arrival, he stood up at the president's residence in Jerusalem and delivered a string of important policy statements and new revelations: 1. Iran would not be permitted to possess a nuclear weapon. 2, Iran must dismantle the Shiite terrorists and militias. 3. Iran must remove all those same foreign militias from Syria. 4. Iran must evacuate Hezbollah forces from Syria and disarm this Lebanese Shiite organization. 5. The Saudi King Salman had told him first hand of his fervent wish for an Israeli-Palestinian peace. Trump heard the same sentiment from other Arab and Muslim rulers. Our military sources add: The issue of the pro-Iranian militias ties in directly with the battlefield confrontation building up in the past fortnight along Syria's borders with Jordan and Iraq. debkafile reports have disclosed the arrival of American and other Western special operations forces at a key crossing. They were followed this week by Russian elite contingents, who arrived nearby to support a Syrian-Iranian-Hezbollah scheme to grab this vitally important border. The Americans are positioned there to prevent Iran from forging a land bridge from Tehran to Syria through Iraq by seizing control of this strategic border.

This week, I thought that I would write about numbers that are getting my attention. I have never had a desire to study the significance of Bible numbers, but I have long believed that everything in the Bible is significant. I have always been leery of going too far in the study of numbers, but I have recently seen some amazing things that other prophecy teachers (Bob Mitchell, Dan Goodwin, etc.) have pointed out. I don't agree with everything they say, but I will try to take some of the amazing things these prophecy teachers say that seems right to me and pass it on in my own words. Notice these six (the number of man) historical facts: 1897-A Zionist conference was held to find a homeland for the Jews. 1917-War: England capture Palestine (Israel, Jerusalem and more). 1947-A UN conference was held to find a homeland for the Jews. 1967-War: Israel captured West Bank (including East Jerusalem). 1997-An Arab conference was held to take the homeland of the Jews. 2017-War: threats from Iran, Hezbollah, ISIS, some Arabs, etc. Notice that these six historical facts run 20 + 30 + 20 + 30 + 20: 1897 + 20 = 1917 1917 + 30 = 1947 1947 + 20 = 1967 1967 + 30 = 1997 1997 + 20 = 2017 Notice that the conferences run in 50-year cycles: 1897-1st conference; find a homeland for the Jews. 1947-2nd conference; establish a homeland for the Jews (1897 + 50 = 1947). 1997-3rd conference; take the homeland from the Jews (1947 + 50 = 1997). Notice that these 50-year cycles were held by three different groups. 1897-The 1st conference was a Jewish conference. 1947-The 2nd conference was a Gentile (UN) conference (1897 + 50 = 1947). 1997-The 3rd conference was an Arab conference (1947 + 50 = 1997). Notice that three of these 50-year cycles are about war. 1897-War: England captured Palestine (Israel, Jerusalem and more). 1967-War: Israel captured West Bank (East Jerusalem and more). 2017-War: Remains to be seen, but very possible. Notice that three of these 50-year cycles involve Jerusalem (the end of the age cup of trembling and burdensome stone for the whole world; Joel 3:2). 1917-War: Gentiles took Jerusalem. 1967-War: Jews took Jerusalem. 2017-War: Remains to be seen, but Arabs and or Muslims (the Iranians are not Arabs) may try to take Jerusalem. But let's go a little deeper and I honestly don't know what to make of this. We are looking at six events between 1897 and 2017, a period of 120 years. In the days of Noah (a sign of the Second Coming) God said, "My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years" (Gen. 6:3). Based on God's six days of creation and one day of rest (a total of seven days) plus the Scriptures that teach that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years (Psalm 90:4; II Pet. 3:8; Heb. 4:4) some church fathers (Barnabas, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr and Lactantius), scholars (Dr. J. R. Church) and prophecy writers (Dr. Noah Hutchings and others), have taught that mankind will go through six God days of 1,000 years each (a total of 6,000 years) plus a Millennium of 1,000 years rest (now a total of 7,000 years). 6,000 years is 120 of 50-years each or 6,000 years (120 X 50 = 6,000). Let's go one final time and quit. It is common knowledge among most students of the Bible that Jesus told His disciples "There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom" (Matt. 16:28). Then, six days later, Jesus took Peter (the same Peter that said six days is with the Lord as a thousand years) plus James, and John up on the Mount of Transfiguration and revealed His Second Coming to them (Matt. 17:1-9). The question is "Why did Jesus wait six days instead of three or five or ten days or whatever?" Why six days? I recently heard Dan Goodwin say those six days represent 6,000 years. I knew that six days of God's time are like 6,000 years of Man's time, but I don't think I have ever heard that one day of man's time ((Peter, James and John's time) can be like 1,000 years to God. It just didn't seem right to me. Then, I read what Moses said, "A thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday" (Psalm 90:4). To God, 1,000 years seems like yesterday or one day. I went back to II Pet. 3:8: "But, beloved, don't be ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." I went to my King James Bible Commentary and read that "God does not count time in the same way that we do. To Him a thousand years may count as one day" (II Pet. 3:8). This is the point: God is an eternal being. Time does not exist for Him. There is no difference between 1,000 years and one day to God and no difference between one day and 1,000 years to God. So, each person should decide for his or her own self if Jesus waiting six days to reveal His Second Coming to Peter, James and John means His Second Coming will be after 6,000 years of human history. In summary, I don't know what to think of some of this, but in light of the talk of moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, the talk of a peace treaty this 2017, it being 50 years since 1967, it being 70 years since 1947, the upcoming total eclipse of the sun, the Revelation 12 sign on Rosh Hashanah, etc. These amazing numbers are getting my attention. www.hallindsey.com As President Trump prepares for his first trip abroad, which will include a potentially historic visit to Jerusalem next week, I thought it might be instructive to revisit a program I presented a few years ago. In it, I examine Jerusalem's history, its role in end-times prophecy, and some of the challenges Israel faces in the days ahead. One of the recurring themes of the last days, as foretold by the Hebrew prophets and confirmed by the Book of Revelation, is the international isolation of Israel. In fact, the prophet Zechariah says that, eventually, all of the nations of the world will gather together against Israel. They'll do so over the issue of who controls Jerusalem. In its 3,000 year history, Jerusalem, which, ironically, means "City of Peace," has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, and attacked 52 times. Just since the nation's rebirth in 1948, Jerusalem has felt the impact of four major wars. Why? It has none of the usual assets that cause great cities to rise. It has no seaport, no natural wealth, no particular strategic military value. The ancient trade routes from Egypt to Assyria, Babylon, and Persia ran north and south along the plateau of Jordan, bypassing Jerusalem to the east. During centuries of occupation by the Muslims, Jerusalem was a dusty, backwater city so unimportant that it never even achieved the status of a regional or provincial capital. Yet, despite 2,000 years of mediocrity and desolation, Jerusalem is now the most contended-for city on the face of the earth. Ominously, Zechariah predicted that the thought of possessing Jerusalem would so "intoxicate" the nations of the world, that in the last days they would go to war over it. He also described the city as such a "burdensome stone," that any nation that tried to solve the dilemma would be "cut in pieces." The British found themselves charged with settling the Jerusalem question in 1917. Thirty years later, the British Empire fell apart. Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat took on the challenge of Jerusalem. One lost his presidency, the other his life. Bill Clinton led the United States into the fray with the Oslo Accords in 1993. George W. Bush and Barack Obama stuck to the plan. Nearly twenty years later, the U.S. economy is in shambles, our military is worn and tattered, our people exhausted and divided, and our foreign policy is in absolute disarray. And Israel, which did not even exist from Zechariah's day until 69 years ago, is more isolated and hated than ever. A few short years ago, South Africa's Trade Ministry announced that it will not allow goods manufactured in Judea and Samaria and labeled "Made in Israel," to be sold in South Africa. Why? Because its leaders say that Judea and Samaria are "occupied" by Israel. They only recognize the "1948 borders as delineated by the United Nations." Never mind that there are no such thing as "1948 borders... delineated by the United Nations." Even Judaism is finding itself increasingly embattled throughout the world. In Bavaria, a rabbi faced court charges for performing a circumcision. Despite the fact that male circumcision is a 4,000 year-old practice of Judaism (1,800 years in Germany), it has been banned in hospitals in Austria and Switzerland. Denmark and Norway introduced similar legislation. Even San Francisco tried to ban it. Other nations have already outlawed certain kosher animal-slaughter practices. Oddly, while many European nations are seeking to ban Judaic and kosher practices, they see nothing wrong with allowing Muslims to establish "Sharia Law courts" to adjudicate civil matters among Muslims. Great Britain has 85 such courts. Though obviously not empowered to enforce a full range of punishments in European nations -- yet -- Sharia law is an undeniably barbaric system. Beyond the well-known customs of stoning to death homosexuals and those accused of sexual infidelity, cutting off the hands and/or feet of thieves, and "honor killing" one's own family members if they've "disgraced" the family, accepted Sharia Law punishment can still be quite brutal. In Saudi Arabia, a 39 year-old Egyptian mother of two who got entangled in a business-deal-gone-bad with a Saudi princess, was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 500 lashes. She received 5 lashes per week for two years. Activists say she suffered irreparable damage to her body and psyche. But, on the positive side, this is Sharia - not Judaic - law and she is, after all, just a woman. Please forgive the sarcasm. If it weren't so brutally pathetic and true, what passes today for worldly wisdom regarding Islam is like a bad script for a "Dumb and Dumber" movie sequel. Folks, even if these events didn't fit in to so many of the prophets' descriptions of the last days, the fact that they perfectly embody the Apostle Paul's prediction that in the last days man would not be able to think even in his own best interest, should be enough to let us know we're there. And in the days to come, we will see Israel and the Jews isolated more and more by the nations of the world. Until one day, they will stand absolutely alone against the world. Only the Messiah will be on their side. But that will be enough. Please, make plans not to be here for that moment. Accept the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ and make your reservation for the great escape that will save all believers from those dreadful days. Just about every president that has held the office since before Jimmy Carter thought they could bring peace to the Middle East. President Donald Trump is no different. After flying from Saudi Arabia to Tel Aviv, Trump said that he has found new reasons for hope. He said, "We have before us a rare opportunity to bring security and stability and peace to this region and its people, defeating terrorism and creating a future of harmony, prosperity and peace, but we can only get there working together. There is no other way." So the peace process, which has pushed the "restart" button by every modern president begins anew. The may be hope in Trump making a deal, but it's not the hope in what the politicians think. During my travels in Israel, I noticed something upon which most Israelis agree: they want peace. Trouble is, there can be no peace when the surrounding enemies won't take the first step and recognize Israel's right to exist in the first place. It has to start there-that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own land. The political Arabs don't recognize this right. When President George W Bush essentially forced former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to evacuate Gaza to the so-called "Palestinians," there was no peace. Gaza turned into a terrorist state, a staging ground for missiles and acts of violence, proving to the world that a two-state solution is only division of land to create more hostility toward Israel. Trump, like any other US president who tries to lift the peace of Jerusalem as a burdensome stone, will soon find that there is a reason that peace has not been achieved despite the earnest efforts of many a sincere leader-prophecy. Those who are students of the Bible in its prophetic context know that while we are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, true peace will not be attained until the return of the Messiah, the total defeat of Israel's enemies, including the antichrist and his coalition of the very nations who broker terrorism against Israel in this modern day. They include Turkey, Iran, Sudan, Libya, and parts of Saudi Arabia where Trump just completed a $110 billion arms deal. No peace in that. As the Lord says in Ezekiel 39:27-29 of Israel and her people, "When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, says the Lord God." Prophetically and scripturally speaking, the only one that is going to bring peace to the land of Israel is the Prince of Peace, not a mere mortal. Until then its window dressing and positioning that may bring the prophecy clock forward, but it won't be the real deal.

I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. -Galatians 1:6-7 We have all heard good news/bad news jokes. Before we can fully appreciate the good news, we have to know the bad news. The literal definition of gospel is good news. But part of telling people the good news of the gospel is making them aware of the bad news. That means telling people they are sinners. Of course, people don't like to hear that. I'm a what? I'm not a sinner! I'm a good person! We have to define what it means to be a sinner, because the Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Yet there are preachers today who don't want to tell people they're sinners. They claim that most people know they're doing wrong. But do they? I think a lot of people believe everything is fine as long as they try to live a good life. We have to break the bad news: "I'm sorry to tell you this, friend, but you're a sinner. You've broken God's commands. You've fallen short of His standards, and there is nothing you can do to make this right. But God loved you so much that He sent Jesus to die on the cross for you, and if you will turn from that sin and put your faith in Christ, you can be forgiven." The bad news helps us fully appreciate the good news. Anything less than this is a false gospel that will give false assurance. That is why Paul wrote, "I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God. . . . You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all" (Galatians 1:6-7). We must be careful to preach the real gospel.
