The Rapture - Jack Kinsella - www.omegaletter.com
I believe that the Bible clearly teaches a pre-trib Rapture, not because it holds out the promise of a 'great escape', or because somebody convinced me in a high-pressure sales job, or because it is my opinion and I am sticking to it. I believe the Bible teaches a pre-trib Rapture because a pre-Trib Rapture puts the last days and the Tribulation into a context consistent with the overall flow of Bible prophecy. That is the only reason that I teach a pre-trib Rapture. It makes no difference to me if other, sincere born-again believers embrace a different view; the timing of the Rapture plays no role in our salvation. Saving faith is faith in Who is coming, that He is coming again, as promised, and that He will keep all His other promises, including standing as our Advocate before the Righteous Judge. Our faith is that "God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." But the timing of the Rapture is CENTRAL to the understanding of the overall Big Picture in the last days. The 'last days' is a different era than the Tribulation Period. The 'last days' is used throughout Scripture in the context of the Church Age. At Pentecost, the Apostles, newly-indwelt by the Holy Spirit, rushed from the Upper Room to the street, giddy from the experience. So giddy, in fact, that some bystanders thought they were drunk. "Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But THIS IS THAT WHICH was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass IN THE LAST DAYS saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" (Acts 2:13-17) The 'last days' is the Church Age, whereas the Tribulation is the 'Time of Jacob's Trouble'. They are two different Dispensations of God. That is central to understanding the times in which we now live. We are currently in the "dispensation of the grace of God" (Ephesians 3:2). Paul calls the conclusion of this present dispensation the 'dispensation of the fullness of times.' (Ephesians 1:10) During this dispensation, believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." But John reminds us: "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1John 4:3-4) Note the context. John is speaking of the 'spirit of antichrist' which he says is 'already in the world.' He says that the spirit of antichrist cannot overcome the Church saints; because He Who indwells us (the Holy Spirit) is greater than the spirit of antichrist. But this SAME PROPHET, writing of the SAME antichrist, (once antichrist comes in the flesh), says; "And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to OVERCOME them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations." (Revelation 13:7) Since John penned both passages, and they cannot both be simultaneously true, the flow of Bible prophecy is interrupted, if the Church Age runs concurrent with the Tribulation. During the Tribulation, the antichrist is 'given' power to overcome the saints. Is he 'given' power over the Holy Spirit? Jesus said, in the context of devils driving out devils, 'a house divided cannot stand'. (Matthew 12:25) Clearly, God isn't giving power over Himself to the antichrist. That leaves two possibilities, apart from a pre-trib Rapture. The first is that the Holy Spirit indwells the Church until the onset of the Tribulation, at which point He is withdrawn from the vessels he indwells, leaving believers on their own. The Apostle Paul says He is 'withdrawn' BEFORE 'that Wicked' is revealed. (2nd Thessalonians 2:7-8) For a pre-Trib Rapture to be a false doctrine means our generation was chosen out of all others in Church history to face the greatest spiritual trial the world has ever known -- without the Comforter that Jesus promised would indwell us until He comes. The second possibility is that John was either lying or mistaken when he said the spirit of antichrist cannot overcome indwelt believers. In either case, the promises of Scripture are broken. Assessment: Over the last thirty years, I've listened to explanation after explanation of why the pre-trib Rapture is a 'false doctrine'. It usually revolves around the concept of a 'great escape' or some other misunderstanding of the flow of Bible prophecy. Its opponents will spare no effort to 'prove' that it is a false doctrine, as if the timing of the Rapture were somehow of eternal significance. It is not. The eternal significance of the Rapture is this: "The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout . . . and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together WITH them in the clouds, to meet the Lord IN THE AIR. . ." (1st Thessalonians 4:16-17) Now let's try and pull it all together. "And as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, His disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" Note the first thing Jesus says in reply to that question. "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in My Name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Matthew 24:3-4) Jesus said the one who comes in His Name would deceive 'many' - not all. Initially, most of Israel will be fooled. "I am come in My Father's name, and ye receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." (John 5:43) Paul identifies the one who Israel eventually (and temporarily) receives as their messiah as the antichrist. And so, if the one claiming to be Jesus is standing on the ground, instead of meeting me in the air, then I will know that he is an imposter, no matter what tricks he is able to perform. The doctrine of a pre-Trib Rapture isn't a 'great escape' for the Church; it is a necessary evacuation of the Holy Spirit's restraining influence as part of the overall Big Picture for the last days. Remove it, and the chronology of Bible prophecy is thrown into chaos. The pre-trib Rapture doctrine has no saving value. It is of no eternal consequence to anyone that they believe in a pre-Trib Rapture. I feel no particular need to convert someone to my understanding of the last days. One is saved by God's grace through faith in the finished Work of His Son on the Cross as payment in full as our pardon for sin. But without the pre-Trib Rapture doctrine, Bible prophecy has no context. That is why I teach it as doctrine. It is my obligation as a minister of Christ. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2nd Timothy 2:15) And our insurance against end-times deception. Israel's Coming War Won't Be Against Iran or Syria - By Darius Shahtahmasebi -https://www.lewrockwell.com/2018/05/no_author/israels-coming-war-wont-be-against-iran-or-syria/ Writing in the Asia Times earlier this month, David P. Goldman lamented that an Israel-Iran war is unlikely to take place any time soon. His observation appears surprising considering the mainstream media has been hyping up the idea of such a war over the past few months. Nevertheless, he is correct. Short of something catastrophic that completely upsets the current status quo, there are many signs that Israel and Iran are not headed for a direct confrontation in the immediate future. Though the mainstream media dishonestly advertises such a war, the truth is that Israel's next war will not take place in Iran - or even Syria for that matter. It is far more likely to take place in Lebanon. As Goldman explained: "Harder to calculate is Iran's capacity to hit Israel. Hezbollah has perhaps 120,000 missiles in Lebanon, more than enough to swamp Israel's 'Iron Dome' and other defenses. They are embedded in approximately 200 Shi'ite villages in Lebanon's south. That makes it difficult for the Israeli Army to attack missile launchers without killing a large number of Shi'ite civilians who provide an enormous human shield. "But if Israel perceives the missiles as an existential threat, it will 'bomb Lebanon back to the stone age,' as Transportation Minister Israel Katz said in February. Casualties would be in tens of thousands. Hezbollah is Iran's ally and to a great extent its creation, but an Israeli counterattack might mean the end of the Shi'ite community in Lebanon with catastrophic casualty levels - what one Israeli analyst described as "a Dresden,' referring to the destruction of the German city by firestorm during the Second World War." As Anti-Media has documented over the past few years, Israel has been actively preparing for a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon for some time, including conducting extensive military drills that simulated a full-on invasion of Lebanese territory. "There's no doubt that Israel is planning for a war with Hezbollah, but it isn't an easy task," public intellectual Professor Noam Chomsky told Anti-Media via email last week. "According to Israeli intelligence, Hezbollah has lots of missiles based in many parts of Lebanon that are capable of serious damage to Israeli cities, and to take them all out would require quick virtual destruction of Lebanon, it seems." Chomsky further observed. Writing to Anti-Media via email, Miko Peled, human rights activist and author of The General's Son and Injustice and The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five agreed with the assertion that Israel's most immediate impending war will take place in Lebanon, not Syria or Iran. "I don't believe any of the Iran threat nonsense has anything to do with a threat from Iran. It serves two purposes: a smokescreen for Israeli crimes in Palestine in general, particularly in Gaza, and in order to allow Israel to attack Syria and Lebanon more freely," Peled explained. According to Peled, Trump's decision to nix the Iranian nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was part and parcel of this up and coming war. What no one seems to have noticed was that Trump's recent announcement on Iran also coincided with elections in Lebanon, which further improved Hezbollah's position in the country (Lebanon's Christian president is already a strong ally of Hezbollah). "Having Trump accept Netanyahu's [position on the Iran deal] and disregard the international community, international agencies, and world opinion regarding the Iran deal - and the economic sanctions - was a huge political boost for Netanyahu," Peled explained. "The election results in Lebanon will surely be manipulated and presented as a 'threat' to Israel and will be used as an excuse to attack. I doubt that Israel will risk suffering another humiliating defeat from Hezbollah and so it may well be another horrifying air assault." In March of this year, Israel even simulated a multi-front war in which Russia stepped in to protect Syria from Israeli attacks. While this was a scenario in which Russia was protecting Syria, not Lebanon, the fact remains that this hypothetical event was considered as a result of Israel's true intention to take on Hezbollah in Lebanon, which would naturally segue into other arenas, including Syria. It is also important to note that Israel's recent all-out assault in Syria, allegedly tied to Israel's perceived Iranian involvement, has actually helped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu improve his domestic standing in the face of numerous allegations of corruption and bribery. It could be the case that the strikes on Syria and the demonization of Iran are just tools for domestic pacification while the real impending conflict we should be turning our attention toward continues to be overlooked. Also overlooked by the corporate media is an event which took place at the end of April: Newly appointed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Tel Aviv and allegedly gave Israel the go-ahead to use bunker-busting bombs to take out Iranian armaments in Syria. In September of last year, Israel held its largest military drill in 20 years, which was specifically designed to simulate a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon. In February of this year, thousands of U.S. and Israeli troops took part in the biennial 'Juniper Cobra' drill, which simulated a "massive ballistic missile attack against Israel" and the joint U.S.-Israeli response. At this stage, with the exception of some unknown capabilities in Syria (a significant number of which were already destroyed by Israel last month), there's only one country that could potentially launch a "massive ballistic missile attack against Israel" - and no one is talking about it. Persia and the Jewish People - J.L. Robb - http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8649 The history of Persia (Iran) and Israel goes back through millennia; and it has not always been antagonistic. In 589 BC, Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon (Iraq), besieged Judah and took the Jews in captivity to Babylon, the Jews he did not kill. He destroyed Jerusalem and tore down the first Jewish Temple built during King Solomon's reign. Those confined as slaves were held in captivity for 70 years, then freed by King Cyrus of Persia. King Cyrus conquered Babylon, freed the Jewish captives and sent them back to Judah to build the Second Temple. This turn of events had been prophesied by Isaiah, 150 years earlier, when he told the people of Judah to change their evil ways and return to the ways of God. Seventy years later, the prophet Jeremiah told them, in the first person, speaking as God and not for God, that Nebuchadnezzar would come against them and hold them as slaves for 70 years. He did. How did Isaiah know about King Cyrus? "... who says to the watery deep, 'Be dry, and I will dry up your streams,' who says of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem, "Let it be rebuilt," and of the temple, "Let its foundations be laid."' (Isaiah 44:27-28 NIV) "This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut:" (Isaiah 45:1 NIV) It is interesting that Isaiah prophesied King Cyrus when he did, since King Cyrus was not yet born. He wasn't even a thought. How did he know? Today it is not likely that Iran would help the Jews, much less help them rebuild the Temple. As a matter of fact, Iran waits eagerly for their messiah, the Twelfth Imam, to appear on Earth and do away with anything not Muslim, especially the Jewish country. Iran fired 32 missiles into Israel almost two weeks ago, first reported as only 20. Most were shot down, it is reported, by the Israeli Iron Dome anti-missile system, arguably the best missile defense system in the world. Remarkably, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman stated that not a single missile hit Israeli soil. In response, Israel destroyed approximately 50 Iranian military sites inside Syria. Liberman had promised an overwhelming response when he said: "If you give us rain, you will get a flood." The people of Iran proudly refer to themselves as Persians; because before it was Iran, it was Persia. The Persians were ruled by some famous kings, like King Cyrus; but the Persians in ancient days, 1200 years prior to Muhammad's dream and the beginning of Islam, had no problems with Jews or with their land, which they acknowledged. So what happened? President Jimmy Carter happened. November 4, 1979, the Islamic Revolution threw out the Shah of Iran who was a strong ally of the West and overtook the government. In the process they terrorized 58 U.S. Embassy staff and citizens while holding them hostage for 444 days. They were released January 20, 1981, the day that Ronald Reagan became President. That was probably the best decision the terror-driven fanatics made in 444 days. Death-to-Israel and Death-to-America were the chants of the day in 1979 as the streets of Tehran were overrun by... college students. It seems to me the Iranian youth of today are much like the youth 40 years ago. "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" chants can be heard daily inside Iran now, especially at the institutes of higher learning. Yet, we read that the Iranian people are great people who are disgusted with the ruling class of radical, Islamic "clerics." Is that true? Maybe. It was certainly true in 1975 when Iran was our greatest ally in the Middle East, after Israel. There was much trade between our countries, the Iranian Air Force had fighter jets from the United States and women could actually go to the beach with a man. Iran had diplomatic relations with Israel. It had to be. As surely as Jesus had to be killed by the very people he came to save, the destiny of modern-day Iran is not to help Jewish people. The last days plan has them siding up with Russia, Turkey and a few other notable powers in the region. It is unfortunate that we had the plight of another Carter-like President recently, a President who paved the way for Russia's entry to Iran and Syria. Five years ago, Russia had no bases in Iran or Syria. The weakness of U.S. Presidents, in many ways has led to the Islamic takeover of all things normal, and nice. It seems that all European leaders are like President's Carter and Obama. It is unlikely that the new Persia will ever be a friend of Israel's. That is not the way God wrote the script. "Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'" Isaiah 46:8-10 NIV The Trump-King David Connection And How It Connects With Abraham's Covenant - By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/108239/the-trump-king-david-connection-and-how-it-connects-with-abrahams-covenant/ "May Hashem bless you from Tzion; may you share the prosperity of Yerushalayim all the days of your life." Psalms 128:5 (The Israel Bible™) An event held directly over King David's burial site was the turning point in US President Donald Trump's campaign and may be the key to understanding his come-from-behind victory as well as his role in the future of David's city and the Messianic Era. Rabbi Yosef Berger, the rabbi of King David's Tomb on Mount Zion, attended the fateful event almost two years ago and believes that it connected the presidential campaign with King David, bringing about Trump's victory. "King David also had to overcome great opposition in order to establish his kingship," Rabbi Berger told Breaking Israel News. "Trump connected to that. This cycle was completed when the president recognized Jerusalem as the true capital of the Jewish People, just as King David did." The Republican campaign event that took place in Jerusalem in September 2016 was improbable for many reasons. The candidate was so far behind in the polls that some pundits said it would take a miracle for Trump to win. The organizers of the event chose an unlikely and inconvenient site intended to bring about just such a miracle: the Nevel David (harp of David) catering hall overlooking the Temple Mount. "It was logistically far more difficult to arrange an event in the Old City, but we wanted to connect with the heart of Jerusalem," Mark Zell, chairman of Republicans Overseas Israel, told Breaking Israel News. Zell organized the event where he served as master-of-ceremonies. US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, who was an advisor to Trump at the time, spoke and referred to the site "established by King David 3,000 years ago" as "a holy venue." He quoted King David in Psalms 128, which referenced the site. May Hashem bless you from Tzion; may you share the prosperity of Yerushalayim all the days of your life. Psalms 128:5 Pre-recorded speeches by Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence were viewed on a large screen. "This was the same week the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) passed a resolution erasing any connection between the Jews and the Temple Mount. The remarks by all the speakers reflected this, focusing on Jerusalem and its importance to the Jews," Zell said. Several hundred people attended and the event was a major success. Clips from the event were used for the remainder of the campaign. "I was told it played a major role in the election of the president," Zell said. "Us people of faith understood the miraculous nature of his election. We wanted to change history and restore the greatness of the United States. We wanted to elevate the status of Jerusalem." What Zell did not know when organizing the event was that the site he chose, although a small distance from the site known today as Kever David (the burial site of King David), was actually situated directly over the actual burial place of King David. Kever David, considered a holy site, is the entrance to a large complex of caves in which several kings and prophets were buried. Rabbi Berger emphasized that the connection with King David not only helped Trump win the election but it also established the path that lies ahead for the US president. "Donald Trump in Gematria (Hebrew numerology) equals 424, which is the same as Moshiach ben David (Messiah from the house of David)," Rabbi Berger pointed out. "This certainly does not mean he will be the Messiah, but it indicates that he will play a role in preparing the way for the arrival of the Messiah. He clearly has this inclination. Why else would he have a campaign event overlooking the Temple Mount? No other presidential candidate has done this." Another powerful hint of the president's role in the Messianic process appears in the presidential seal he was awarded the rights to in that election. Central in the presidential seal is the iconic Bald Eagle. The rabbi explained that an eagle (ayit [עיט]) figures prominently in end-of-days prophecy. "When Abraham performed the Covenant of the Pieces described in the fifteenth chapter of Genesis, an ayit (usually translated as a 'bird of prey') appeared," Rabbi Berger said. Birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Avram drove them away. Genesis 15:11 Rabbi Berger cited an explanation of this mystical covenant written by Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, an 11th century French Torah scholar who is known by the acronym, "Rashi." "Rashi explained that all of the animals whose carcasses were split for that covenant represented the other nations, but the bird, which remained whole, represented Israel," Rabbi Berger said. "The eagle represents the House of David. The eagle was not permitted near the covenant with Abraham at the time, but in the end of days, the Messiah from the House of David will stand up before all the other nations and bring them to David's city in order to complete the covenant with Abraham." "Trump, under the sign of the ayit, opened the way for the other nations, who are now coming to Jerusalem and opening their embassies in preparation for the Messiah," Rabbi Berger said. Daily Jot: Memorial Day and Reflections of Hope - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com Over the Memorial Day weekend, many will have the opportunity to spend time with friends and family on several occasions. As we come together, we should thank the Lord for those who gave their lives that we might be free. We should also recognize that the world in which we live, that the nation where we are citizens, is far different from what it was even 30 years ago. We as a nation have fast accelerated into a humanistic mindset where not much that is time honored or traditional is celebrated. The young men who I coached in football always were fascinated by some of our old timer stories about participating in Memorial Day parades when we were kids, ending at the local cemetery. There, the graves of who served in the military were decorated with wreaths or flags, followed by a sermon and prayer for our nation and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Local Memorial Day services nowadays are often not well publicized. We may not know about them. What we do know about are the freedoms we have lost in the past generation--freedoms that were taken away not by some foreign force, but by the government itself. As we view the Bill of Rights through the headlines, we see that the government--those who we elected--are working to undermine these rights that were held by the Founders as "self evident" endowed by our "Creator" with a capital "C," meaning God Almighty. My son Christian and I often discuss these things. He says that "progressives" (that's what they are politely called in his college classes) care little about the history of our nation because they believe that mankind is always progressing beyond the past. He says they fail to recognize the mistakes made in history and the knowledge and wisdom that comes from learning about those mistakes. That, he says, is what makes them prone to making unwise and bad decisions. He says that they see the Word of God as fable and reject the foundational principles of God's law and the law of nature's God. It is his generation's way of explaining why our nation is in the mess that it is in. He believes there is hope in his generation, although he admits that Christian values are diminishing within it. I believe there is hope, too. The Bible says a lot about hope. One of my favorites is Romans 5:1-5, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us." Don't let anyone steal your hope, your faith, or your will to stand on them. Daily Devotion: Time to Unplug - By Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. -Mark 6:31 During the next 24 hours, your heart will beat 103,000 times, your blood will travel 168,000,000 miles, you will breathe 23,000 times, inhale 480 cubic feet of air, eat 3.5 pounds of food, speak 4,800 words, move 750 muscles, and exercise 7 million brain cells. No wonder we feel tired. We're constantly going. We're the only nation in the world with a mountain called Rushmore. American tombstones could be inscribed with three words: Hurried. Worried. Buried. We are always in a rush to get somewhere. We have all kinds of technology that is supposed to make our lives easier, but does it? I think it makes us a lot more distracted. We are having a perpetual conversation that just can't wait. I think it's a great idea to unplug everything sometimes, to shut it all off, relax, and recharge. That is the principle of the Sabbath. It is not a legalistic day we have to observe, but it is a good time to simply focus on the Lord. For many of us that is Sunday. I love to see Sunday set apart as the Lord's Day, just as the early church did. We should make our first priority to worship with God's people, and I think God will honor that in our lives if we do. Even Jesus took time off. In Mark 6 we read, "Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. And He said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat" (verses 30-31). If we don't come aside with Him, we will come apart. Focus on the things of God. FROM THE HEART
