The Last Days According to Everyone - Pete Garcia -
http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8665 The ancient Vikings believed in 'Ragnarok'. The Buddhist believe in the coming of the 'Maitreya'. The Hindus believe that the 'Kalki' brings an end to the current Kali Yuga. Islam predicts that the end will come when the 'Mahdi' returns. Even atheists and skeptics posit that we are overdue for an occurrence such as a meteor, super volcano, global weather extreme, or other cataclysmic earth-ending event. It is common for cultures and societies to look toward the future with a certain level of trepidation. The future represents change. It is the big and dark 'unknown'. With that said, every religion and/or belief system in the world today has some view, position, or opinion about what they consider the 'end-times' or the 'last days'. Within Christianity, around 30% of the Holy Bible contains 'prophecy', and more applicable to the discussion at hand is what academics call 'eschatology'. (Koine Greek-Eschatos = last or final things, logy=the study of) That said, Christianity has become largely divided over how to interpret the passages pertaining to the 'last days'. On one hand, the largely Protestant, mainline denominations (Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian, etc.) tend to view Bible prophecy in much the same way as their predecessor, the Roman Catholic Church viewed it...as already complete and spiritually in effect. To them, that means that much of what the Bible has to say about the last days was completed in the first century, and that what is ongoing now is the ongoing spiritual kingdom. Granted there are disagreements on some of the finer points as to exactly how and when things like the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be, or who the 'Antichrist' might be, but for the most part they agree in large measure on three main points:
Each of these major theological premises are accompanied and supported by their eschatological positions, which are predicated in how they interpret scriptural passages. So for instance, a 'literal' interpretation of Scripture, would not support the theological position of Replacement Theology (1). Romans 11 for instance, flatly rejects this notion. They are then forced to select another form of interpretation such as the allegorical (or non-literal) method to make their theological position of Replacement Theology mesh with their view that they have replaced Israel as 'God's Chosen'. Simply put, they have to use the allegorical approach, because the plain reading of scripture (in context) does not back up their suppositions. This makes the overarching end-times view within both Roman Catholicism and mainline Protestantism a mix between Post Millennialism (Church conquers the world before Christ returns) and Amillennialism [a-as a negative] (the world continues on perpetuity until some indefinite end as yet defined). Another branch within Christianity is the Evangelicals. Evangelicals tend to take more of the literalist interpretation of Scripture (i.e...take the text at what it says, in context). Within Evangelical Christianity, there are still divergent views on how the end happens, but for the most part, the two major views are the following:
Assessment So consider some of the older religions from groups such as the Sumerians, Babylonians, Greeks and Romans, Mayans, and Vikings...if their beliefs were true-then these civilizations would still be in effect. In other words, if their views had any merit to them...wouldn't their 'gods' have foretold the demise of their own civilizations in order to prevent that from ever happening? So for that purpose, this article we will forego any religious system that is already extinct or of no effect to the world today, and simply apply how their eschatology fits into the world of today. This leaves the following list by order of number of devotees and the potential ramifications for their eschatological beliefs: Roman Catholicism/Protestant Christianity (2.2 Billion) The Roman Catholic and mainline Protestant churches generally (not all) advocate the same type of eschatological views. The long term view is Amillennial, and their practical day to day view is Dominionist. Both of these support the repeated attempts at creating theocratic rule by the Church. Such was the case during the Dark Ages with its Crusades, Inquisitions, Geneva, and the new American colonies. Islam (1.6 Billion) The current divide between Sunni (majority) and Shia (minority) currently keeps the Muslim world divided amongst itself. The major division is over both their lineage and their eschatology. Divisions within each branch of Islam also keep them divided as they vie for power in an attempt to reestablish their own versions of the 'caliphate'. Hinduism (1 Billion) Hinduism is largely concentrated in India, with some bleed over to neighboring nations like Burma and China. Hinduism is not currently as driven for world-wide domination as say Islam and Christianity are, but tend to take more of a pantheist (everything is 'god') view with thousands of deities already on tap. Fits in with an ecumenical global religion very easily. Buddhism (375 Million) Like Hinduism, Buddhism will bring in the much needed "diversity" and deep-seated eastern philosophical underpinnings of the new global ecumenism. Christian missionaries to Nepal and India have described their experiences in these regions as even more spiritually oppressive than Islam. Evangelical Christianity (100-300 Million est. worldwide) Out of all the religions, Evangelical Christianity is a subset within the broader scope of what we would call, Christendom. It presents the most exclusive views on salvation as being solely based on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because of the exclusivity and nature of our salvation, Evangelicalism is also the least likely to embrace religious ecumenicalism as well as having the most cataclysmic view (in terms of consequential eschatological views) out of all the world's belief systems. Two scenarios will likely bring about the end of the world and both center on a period of time known as the 'Tribulation' (Matthew 24, Revelation 6-19) or 'Daniel's 70th Week' (Daniel 9:24-27). The Rapture of the Church would immediately remove an estimated 10-20% of the world-wide population. The Second Coming devastates the entire world as Jesus Christ returns in the air and destroys all the armies of the world who have gathered at the Valley of Megiddo (in Israel). Both upend the world's order and brings about the rise of a regional, than singular world order that allows for one man (Antichrist, Man of Lawlessness, Son of Perdition, Rider on the White Horse) to assume total power. Aided by the 'False Prophet', they are able to work lying signs and miracles that trick the world into following them in a disastrous set up against what remains of national and ethnic Israel...i.e....at Armageddon. Remainder (1.1 Billion) What remains is the atheistic/agnostic/non-religious population which make up around 1.1 billion persons. The remainder (Taoist, Sikhs, Bahai Faith, Judaism, etc.) make up the rest of the minority of religious adherents globally. Conclusion Out of all the religious belief system, Christianity is by far the most descriptive of the end-times. Not only is it the most descriptive, but it's also the most accurate (ie...forecasting geopolitical alignments, restoration of Israel after 1900 years, societal conditions, etc.). Not only is it the most accurate, but it's also the most believable. In comparing all the other views along with the day and age we find ourselves, you see the profound difference and superiority of Holy Scripture once you lay them all out together. Buddha did not predict the end of the world to happen until 5,000 years after his death, which would put their 'last days' around the year 4600 AD, and frankly by then, who cares. This presents no immediate threat as we would all be long gone by then. Hinduism believes at the end of the fourth Yuga, that the end comes. These are listed by Wikipedia as:
"Within the current kalpa, there are four yugas, or epochs, that encompass the evolution of this specific cycle. These ages encompass a beginning of complete purity to a descent into total decay." At least they got the general direction of deterioration correct. But how exactly do they know something happened 1.728 million years ago and not 1.729 million years ago? How could anyone, anywhere, ever validate any of it?. Islamic Eschatology Even harder to believe, are the signs given in Islam that would point to the end times. There are 56 minor signs, and 10 major most of which aren't indicative of any specific time period (the drinking of much wine), and some are pretty laughable (people fornicating in the streets like donkeys). One of the major signs... and probably the most damning against it as a viable eschatology, is that of Isa (Islam's Jesus) return prior to the Mahdi. It's damning for two reasons: If Jesus is who He says He is, (and He says He is God in the Flesh), than He cannot be the Jesus of Islam (who was only a man). Subsequently, Islam only knows who Jesus is via the Christian faith which predates it by 700 years. If Jesus returns as predicted in the Koran, than He cannot be the Jesus of the Bible (whom Islam only knows about via the Christian faith) and is a liar (because He claimed to be God) thus invalidating Him as a prophet. Last of which, the atheist/agnostic/skeptic/scientist view that the earth meets some cataclysmic-end due to a natural or cosmic disaster (i.e...comet collision, super-volcano, etc.). Ironically their view aligns most perfectly with that of the Bible (wormwood, sun going dark, extreme heat, etc.) The Bible foretold over 2,000 years ago, that certain things would have to happen prior to the return of Christ:
So given the signs of the end for the major world religions, which seems the most plausible? Which has the most historical, archeological, political, and economic evidence to support its claims? The Bible foretells of worsening conditions, ending with a final world system under the economic, technological, and theological thumb of regional governments, absorbed into one, all headed by a single man. Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,' (Isaiah 46:9-10) Showdown Signs - By Daymond Duck - http://www.raptureready.com/2018/06/17/showdown-signs-daymond-duck/ First, Jesus was talking about the signs of His coming when He said, "And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all" (Luke 17:26-29). Among other things, Jesus was pointing out that the people of Noah's day and Lot's day were going about their ordinary pursuits (eating, drinking, marrying, etc.) with no thought that God would soon judge them for their sin. Because of sin in Noah's day, the Flood would deluge the world. And in Lot's day, fire and brimstone would soon destroy Sodom and Gomorrah; but the people were not concerned that the judgment of God would fall on them. In their eyes, everything was normal. They continued their godless pursuits with no thoughts of a showdown with God. A recent Gallup Poll reminded me of this. The pollsters found that pornography is morally acceptable to 27% of all Republicans, 43% of all Americans, and 53% of all Democrats. Multitudes are simply ignoring how God might respond. Second, Jesus also said there will be "earthquakes in divers places" (Matt. 24:7). The Church Age has always had earthquakes, but some Bible verses indicate that they will increase in frequency and intensity (like birth pains) at the end of the age. Third, it was recently reported that there were more than 500 earthquakes near the summit of Kilauea in one 24-hour period (the most ever in 24 hours at that place) and more than 12,000 earthquakes there in the last 30 days. This was not an increase in intensity, but it was definitely an increase in frequency. Fourth, God said on earth there will be "fire and vapour of smoke" (Acts 2:19). Two volcanoes (Kilauea and Fuego) have been spitting fire, smoke and hot toxic gases for several days. Kilauea has burned hundreds of houses and structures. Fuego has caused burns on thousands of people. The Steamboat geyser in Yellowstone National Park has erupted 8 times since March. This is unprecedented in such a short period of time. Some explosions have been very strong. The combined activity of Kilauea, Fuego and Steamboat is causing concern for some scientists. Fifth, wars and rumors of wars are also a sign (Matt. 24:6), and more and more it looks like a showdown with Iran is on the horizon. Pres. Trump and Prime Min. Netanyahu have made it clear that the U.S. and Israel will not let Iran develop nuclear weapons. Pres. Trump plainly said there will be "devastating consequences" for Iran if the nation restarts its nuclear development program. On June 6, 2018, Iran announced that it will resume construction on a factory that will produce centrifuges for the enrichment of uranium for nuclear weapons. Their military expects the construction to be complete in about one month. Also, on June 6, 2018, Pres. Trump approved a strengthening of America's military forces in Israel in preparation for a military showdown with Iran. He has also approved an increase in Israel's military capabilities by sending a large number of tankers to refuel Israel's Jets in the air during attacks on Iran. Sixth, at the June 2018 G-7 meeting in Canada, Pres. Trump was scorned; Prime Min. Trudeau stabbed the U.S. in the back; there was talk of isolating the U.S. from the remainder of the G-7; and Angela Merkel called for the EU to take a stronger role in global affairs. This corresponds to the opinion of many prophecy teachers that the U.S. will decline and the EU will dominate a New World Order during the Tribulation Period. Seventh, a group of nations called the Kings of the East will invade the Middle East during the Tribulation Period (Rev. 16:12). The Bible does not identify the Kings of the East, but some prophecy teachers suggest that they are China, North Korea, and perhaps India, Japan and others. A few months ago, it looked like Pres. Trump was close to destroying the North Korean military, and that would have brought this prophetic scenario into question. Pres. Trump's historic agreement with Kim Jong Un allows the North Korean military to hang around for its Tribulation Period showdown with God. Prophecy Plus Ministries, Inc. Daymond & Rachel Duck [email protected] Watchman Warning: North Korea Two-Step - By Hal Lindsey - https://www.hallindsey.com/ww-6-16-2018/ Negotiating with a deadly enemy is a kind of dance. You step forward; you step back. You move to the right, and then to the left. You watch your partner, and you watch that partner closely. You react, then the other side reacts. When it's all over, you hope your deadly enemy will be less deadly, and maybe not even an enemy. In the back of your mind through the whole thing, you're saying to yourself, maybe we will become friends. But you keep on watching because deadly enemies have a habit of carrying knives even onto the dance floor. When President Trump first agreed to a Summit with King Jong-un, it shocked the old-line diplomats. "You're giving him a propaganda victory just by meeting with him," they said. "Allowing this upstart to meet with the President of the United States gives him legitimacy." The speed with which President Trump agreed, surprised everyone - even the North Koreans. The Obama Administration had taken the opposite approach, something they called "strategic patience." The Obama team said they would not reward bad behavior by giving the North the negotiations it wanted. But "strategic patience" did not work. The Obama Administration's lack of interference gave North Korea the leeway it needed. They built their arsenal from less than five atomic bombs to as many as sixty during Mr. Obama's years in office. In that same period, North Korea also developed the technology behind their intercontinental ballistic missiles - now capable of hitting most of the United States. Hindsight, they say, is 20/20. And in hindsight, anyone can see that "strategic patience" was a disaster. The New York Times said, "Mr. Obama hoped that the North would eventually feel it had reason to negotiate and make a good-faith effort at talks. Instead the North pursued its weapons program and launched a series of cyberattacks on American businesses." But even with the advantage of hindsight, several prominent members of the Obama team now spend their time criticizing President Trump's efforts to build peace with the North Koreans. They complain every time the Trump Administration does anything other than "strategic patience." For some unknown reason, they want the current President to continue the same mistaken policy that brought us to the brink of disaster in the first place. The media take a different approach. They attack the Trump team for being patient when they're patient, and for being active when they're active. Their position is simple. Anything Trump does is wrong. To me, that's as reckless as saying that everything Trump does is right. He has made mistakes, and he will make more in the future. But on North Korea, give him credit for making a good start. A few weeks ago, Mr. Trump called off the Summit. At that point, the press said he had been rebuked and humiliated. They said it was a major foreign policy failure. But, to me, it was great news. Trump's willingness to walk away gave him the upper hand. North Korea had been criticizing members of the Administration, and it was even threatening to pull out of the Summit. They thought Trump needed the political victory, and they began maneuvering to take control of the coming meeting. Their attitude changed completely when the President pulled out. But the critics are relentless. Nothing Trump does can please them. They need to recognize that there are ultimately two directions - toward war or peace. In this case, a ground war on the Korean peninsula would be a disaster. Millions would die. And at any moment, that war could turn nuclear, and spread. South Korea is vulnerable to North Korean missiles. Japan is, too. And so is the United States. If the two ultimate scenarios are war and peace - and peace is better - we need to consider how best to achieve peace. Is it through silence? Or is it by sitting down across a table and talking? The answer seems obvious. Proverbs 15:4 says, "A soothing tongue is a tree of life." In trying to peacefully resolve a conflict, talking is almost always better than not talking. Will Kim use photos of himself shaking hands with Trump for propaganda purposes at home? Yes. But he has 60 nukes, along with the ICBMs that can carry them to the United States. Let him have his photo-op if it means talking instead of fighting. Kim Jong-un leads one of the most brutal regimes ever. He inherited it. He may not have any intention of changing it, but what if he does want to change? What if he wants to bring North Korea out of the dark ages? What is the best way to end the brutality in North Korea? Is it by talking with Kim, or by isolating him with sanctimonious silence? Once again, the answer seems obvious. Proverbs 15:1 says, "A gentle answer turns away wrath." Did President Trump give away too much? He didn't give away anything. Agreeing to suspend military exercises with South Korea does not hurt the US position. War games can always be resumed. Sanctions are our real leverage, and the US has made it clear that the sanctions will remain as long as there are nuclear weapons in North Korea. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, "We're going to get denuclearization. Only then will there be relief from sanctions." What if North Korea reneges on its "firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula?" In that case, the fact that the United States tried negotiation - and tried it at the highest level - should make it easier to tighten future sanctions. Will negotiations lead to the complete denuclearization of North Korea? Will Kim allow inspectors the kind of access to his secret facilities that they will need in order to verify the denuclearization? Maybe, or maybe not. Either way, I'm glad the United States and North Korea are talking. Sometimes, talk can be the alternative to war. So, give it a chance. Israeli Scientist Finds Mathematical Formula that Proves Prophecy - By Adam Eliyahu - https://www.breakingisraelnews.com "I foretell the end from the beginning, And from the start, things that had not occurred. I say: My plan shall be fulfilled; I will do all I have purposed." Isaiah 46:10 (The Israel Bible™) Saul Kullok, a scientist with many patents to his name, has developed a formula correlating the axis of the earth and the latitudes of Israel's Biblical borders to Prophecy. The proofs are convincing but what he said about next year will shock you. Kullok was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and immigrated to Israel in 1974. In addition to his scientific research, Kullok has made an intense study into physical-mathematical structures contained in the Hebrew Bible and the ancient tradition of Israel. Remarkably, he discovered predefined timings for major physical events involving the People of Israel during the last 3,500 years which are correlated to physical events. Kullok is in the process of publishing his study. Kullok discovered that major events affecting the return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel can be numerically obtained by a mathematical relation between two observable physical factors: the inclination of the planet and the latitude of the Biblical borders in Israel. "The proofs are all written out but nobody wants to check it. It is too intimidating," Kullok said to Breaking Israel News. The study is complicated but that is not what intimidates other scientists according to Kullok. "They fear the implications," Kullok said. "It proves that God established a timetable in nature, that this is what determines the movement of the earth and not just the known laws of nature." He described the discovery in the simplest possible terms. "The inclination of the planet on the year of the immigration plus the constant angular value equals the latitude of a border of Israel," Kullok said. "The mean inclination of the earth's axis has decreased continuously during the 3,500 years investigated in this study; from the biblical time of Israel crossed the Jordan River after their biblical Exodus from Egypt until present times," Kullok explained. "For each point in time, biblical and historical, the earth's axis has a different mean inclination or axial tilt. For the contrary, the latitude of physical and biblical borders (or places), are fixed geographical values obtained in accordance with the Book of Joshua. The algorithm is a mathematical expression involving a correlation between points in time of history and the latitude of a place or border in the Biblical Land of Israel." "The formula means that if I know the latitude of the border, I subtract the constant angular value to obtain the mean inclination of the earth, from where the time at which this inclination took place gives the date of the event," Kullok said. "Conversely, if I know the date, I can use the formula, insert the axial value and get the latitude of the border. This is an absolute correlation." "Put simply, the discovery shows that the Jews come back to Israel at fixed times that are set in the forces of nature, in the sun, stars, and earth," Kullok said. He emphasized that the factors in this algorithm are a powerful combination of heaven (the mean axial tilt of the Earth) and earth (the geographical latitude of the territorial borders in the Biblical Land). "The timings given by the algorithm should be considered as predefined by astronomic and geographic physical factors, which are not under human control," explained Kullok. "This means that the timing of a significant number of biblical and historical events involving the migratory movements of the Israelites to and from the Biblical Land was, and will be predefined." Kullok gave several examples of the accuracy of the algorithm, the first being the entrance of the Jews into Israel after the Exodus from Egypt. Based on sources in the Bible and the Talmud, Kullok placed the Exodus from Egypt at 1,476 BCE. "This means that the Children of Israel came into the Land of Israel in 1,436 BCE, which according to my formula correlates with the latitude of Jericho, their entry point into the land," Kullok said. He noted that like any mathematical formula, this works in both directions. Another example he gave concerned the Babylonian Exile in the sixth century BCE. Kullok's formula correlated the date of the exile and the subsequent return with the northern and southern borders of the Biblical city of Jerusalem. "We know the geographical latitude of the southern biblical border of ancient Jerusalem. The corresponding historical time given by the algorithm is the year 539 BCE, which is the time for when the fall of the Babylonian Empire took place," Kullok said. "This major historical event was soon followed by the King Cyrus Edict of 538 BCE allowing for both, the beginning of the Jewish return from the Babylonian Exile and the start of the Second Temple construction." Kullok also explained about the definition of the border of the Arnon River, which is in the portion of Israel in the eastern side of the Jordan River. The river marks the southern border of the Tribe of Reuven. The latitude for this algorithm was slightly less precise since the Arnon River forms a delta as it joins the Dead Sea. Kullok's algorithm correlates the convergence of the Arnon and the Dead Sea to the years 1830-1840. Though this may seem unrelated to the State of Israel, Kullok insists these years were critical to the establishment of the modern state of Israel. "This is precisely the time for when the Ottoman Empire started to disintegrate in its Middle-Eastern domains," Kullok said. "The process for the restoration of the House of Judah in the Biblical Land started right there by the active participation of England, a Christian Nation, and more recently with also the United States of America, also a Christian Nation. There was a theological revival at that time, a change in theology that led them to their fundamental participation in this process of return." Kullok said that this inclusion of Christianity in these preordained times signifies its role in the prophesied return to Israel. "Jewish and Christian endeavors toward returning the Jews to Israel are necessarily very different," he said. "But they are nevertheless complementing each other while working towards the same goal. They represent a two-sided parallel process, each in accordance with the words of the prophets of Israel." The latitude of the significant east-west section of the border delineated by the Arnon River bears an additional prophetic result, corresponding to the years 1947-1951. More significant than the UN Partition Plan establishing the State of Israel, 700,000 Jews immigrated to Israel in these years. But Kullok's formula is not limited to the past. The latitude of the southernmost point of the Arnon River corresponds to next year. "The results show the year before an aliyah (immigration to Israel, literally 'ascending)," Kullok said. "This means that in two years, there will be an aliyah which, according to the calculations, will be the largest yet. Since it is the most southern latitude of all the borders of Israel, this is the final aliyah and there will be no more exiles." Kullok made one final comment on the nature of his formula. "Since the formula bears accurate results based on the Biblical borders of Israel, what is known as Greater Israel, the relevance of these borders is prophetic and still relevant today." Daily Jot: FBI report and coup attempt - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com The news is abuzz with the Inspector Generals report on the FBI abuse of power. No smoking gun, but all those who want to see President Trump drummed out of office. Read into what you want, but from my perspective there was a deep-state, Democratic Party conspiracy going on-using people on the taxpayer dole-to prevent Trump from becoming President. It appears as though the entire "Russian" narrative is accusing Trump of exactly what his opponents were doing. Moreover, they are using this narrative to impeach a duly elected president. If, for example, the Democrats take control of the House and/or Senate, expect Trump to be impeached. The FBI report gives insight to an ongoing coup attempt. In February 2017, The Daily Jot reported about the genesis of a coup. My ministry partner of 26 years, William Agbeti, has been through six coups d'état in Ghana spanning from 1966 through 1981. Only one failed. I asked him to analyze the factors of those coups and compare them with the current situation in America to see if there were similarities. He said, "All the FACTORS that play out for coups d'état are currently PRESENT in the US. Most of these FACTORS are oftentimes masterminded. The stage is being set for perhaps America's first coup d'état." Agbeti went on to identify the various indicators already in place that may contribute to an overthrow of the US government in some form or another. Agbeti says, "Coup makers in Ghana belonged to one, part or all of the following categories of persons: disgruntled leaders, power-drunk individuals, stoogies fronting for organized criminals, over-ambitious adventurers, ex-heads of state with unfinished agendas, opposition members who have created a shadow government, die-hard individuals with sympathetic ears to foreign powers desirous of entrenching and superimposing their interests (or way of life) on a nation. Master minds, employing state oppression as an excuse, using mainstream mass media, institutions, and instigating groups of people to pour out into the streets to create well-organized mass revolts, easily paved the way for successful coups. These master minds belonged to shadow governments with hidden agendas." The FBI report, the various other reports by Congress, even the Mueller Special Counsel investigation, so far have done nothing to verify Trump collusion with Russia to undermine the election. In fact, all criminal charges to date have nothing to do with Trump's campaign. Revealed, however, is how the FBI and the previous White House used the secret FISA court to spy on Trump, the visceral of FBI agents against Trump and in favor of Hillary Clinton, and general deep state chicanery. There is a stronghold over our nation aimed at keeping its power. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." We the People need to recognize this for what it is, and pray and act against it. Daily Devotion: Two Words Every Marriage Needs - By Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." -Ephesians 5:31 Two very important words must be in constant play in the marriage relationship to keep it vibrant and strong: leave and cleave. The purpose and objective of marriage can be summed up in these two words. Genesis 2:24 tells us, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (NKJV). The closest relationship outside of marriage is specified here: "a man shall leave his father and mother." So if it is necessary to leave your father and mother, then all lesser ties must be broken, changed, or left behind. A successful marriage begins with leaving-a leaving of all other relationships. Don't misunderstand. I'm not saying that you shouldn't have other relationships when you get married. You're still a child to your parents. You're still a sibling. But once you're married, a new relationship and a new family emerge. That family should become your number one priority. This means giving other relationships lesser degrees of importance. The primary responsibility of a husband is to his wife. The primary responsibility of a wife is to her husband. Yes, you still honor your parents, but there's a leaving that must take place. To cleave means to bring together. It suggests a determined action. There is nothing passive about the act of cleaving. It's like scaling a mountain. You're hanging on. You're clinging to the side of it. That is what your marriage should look like. You are holding on to one another. You are clinging to each other. It doesn't mean that you're stuck together; it means that you're sticking together. Your most important relationship is the one with your spouse. First, you leave. Then you cleave. And if you don't do this, it will be detrimental to your marriage. FROM THE HEART
