Dealing With End Times Complacency - Britt Gillette -

The book sold millions of copies and introduced a generation to the miraculous fulfillment of end times bible prophecies in our day and time. Coming on the heels of World War II, the rebirth of Israel, the Six Day War, and widespread societal upheaval, many were convinced the rapture would take place before the end of the decade. But the 1970's came and went, and Jesus did not return. Then, in the 1980's and 1990's, numerous bible prophecy books with titles like "Countdown to Armageddon" and "Final Warning" sold all over the world. Again, many people were convinced Jesus would return before the end of the century. Yet Jesus didn't come. Then the world experienced Y2K, the September 11th terrorist attacks, and the phenomenal success of the Left Behind series. Once again, it seemed as though Jesus would return at any moment. But once again, he didn't. And then something happened. Complacency set it. End Times Burnout Because Jesus hadn't come, many Christians began to openly doubt whether He ever would. Why? I believe there are at least two reasons. First, we live in a culture that demands instant gratification. We don't like to wait as little as two minutes for a microwave to cook a meal it took our grandparents half a day to prepare. We're impatient, and we're used to getting what we want when we want. The second reason is the errant predictions of date setters. False prophets such as Harold Camping and Edgar Whisenant told the world Jesus would return on specific dates - even though Jesus said "no one knows the day or hour" (Matthew 24:36). The media gives widespread attention to these predictions. When these days come and go, the false prophets are exposed. This leads to ridicule of bible prophecy, and in some cases, even Christian leaders publicly dismiss bible prophecy as a playground for crackpots and the ignorant. But these critics forget false prophets made these claims, not the Bible. The Bible's track record remains perfect. In fact, the Bible predicted this complacency long ago. The Bible Said This Would Happen Almost two thousand years ago, Peter issued a warning. He said in the last days people will deny the signs we see today. He said they'll mock the idea of Jesus returning. They'll make fun of those who believe in the Second Coming and say the exact things we hear today - things like, "I thought Jesus was coming back? What happened to His promise? Generation after generation has said He's coming. Yet, since the beginning of the world, everything has remained the same!" (2 Peter 3:3 - 4). You've probably heard variations of this complaint yourself. Maybe you've heard it in church. But is it true? No. It's not. Nothing could further from the truth. Are Things The Same As They've Always Been? To say the world is the same today as in years past - that we don't live in unique times - is just not true. More than any other generation, ours has reason to expect the Second Coming. Jesus and the prophets said to look for specific signs heralding the end times. For over 1,800 years, you couldn't find one of the signs they said to look for. Today, in one form or another, you can find all of them. Here are just a few examples: The Jewish People Back in the Land - God promised to bring the Jewish people back into the land of Israel before He returned (Jeremiah 23:7-8). He said He would call them from "among the nations" (Ezekiel 39:28), from "the farthest corners of the earth" (Isaiah 11:12), and from "north, south, east, and west" (Psalm 107:3). He promised to welcome them home from the lands where they were scattered (Ezekiel 20:34). When they did, He promised to return and establish His everlasting kingdom (Isaiah 11:11-12). For 1,878 years (A.D. 70 to A.D. 1948), the Jewish people lived in exile. On May 14, 1948, they reestablished the nation of Israel, fulfilling God's promise to bring them back into the land. The Jewish People Back in Jerusalem - Jesus prophesied armies would surround Jerusalem, destroy the city, and enslave its citizens. In A.D. 70, the Roman legions fulfilled this prophecy. In the days that followed, Jesus said Gentiles would control Jerusalem until "the times of the Gentiles are over." Then, the Jewish people would once again take control of Jerusalem. When they did, Jesus promised to return (Luke 21:24-28). In June 1967, the Jewish people retook control of Jerusalem. The Gospel Preached Throughout the World - When the disciples asked about the end of the age and the signs of His coming, Jesus told them to look for a very specific sign. He said the Gospel will be preached throughout the entire world. Every nation will hear it. Then, the end will come (Matthew 24:14). For centuries after the crucifixion, the Gospel mostly reached a small area surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. But in the past two centuries, Christians carried the Gospel to every country on earth. Today, missionaries live in every nation. The Bible is translated in hundreds of languages, and the message of Jesus is sent around the world by radio, TV, satellite, and the Internet. Our generation is the first one on the verge of spreading the Gospel to every last person on earth. Increased Travel and Knowledge - Six hundred years before Jesus, an angel gave Daniel a special message. He said "travel and knowledge" will increase in the end times (Daniel 12:4). For centuries of human history, dramatic gains in travel and knowledge did NOT take place. Yet the last two hundred years have seen explosions in the speed and frequency of travel as well as the amount and availability of knowledge. For example, up until around two hundred years ago, a man could travel no faster than a horse could carry him. Today, we can travel faster than the speed of sound. Many consider the Library of Alexandria to be the greatest collection of written knowledge in the ancient world. While we don't know for sure how much knowledge was housed there, some estimates say it was as many 500,000 papyrus scrolls. Two thousand years ago, this was the height of human knowledge. Today, you probably have a bigger library in your pocket. Your smartphone can download almost any book that's ever been written in a matter of seconds. Our generation is experiencing an exponential increase in travel and knowledge. Israel Surrounded by Enemies 17), and "Israel and Judah are ours. We will take possession of them. What do we care if their God is there?" (Ezekiel 35:10). Ever since the rebirth of Israel in 1948, the daily headlines have included these exact sentiments. Israel's Muslim neighbors claim the land of Israel for themselves, and they have no regard for the God of Israel. Israel's Exceedingly Great Army - Ezekiel said, in the last days, Israel will field "an exceedingly great army" (Ezekiel 37:10). Zechariah said Israel will be like a fire among sheaves of grain, burning up the neighboring nations (Zechariah 12:6) and even the weakest Israeli soldier will be like David (Zechariah 12:8). Since 1948, Israel has fought no less than four conventional wars against its neighbors. Despite being outnumbered more than 50 to 1, Israel has achieved overwhelming victory every time. Rise of the Gog of Magog Alliance - The Bible says a military alliance that includes Russia, Iran, Turkey, and a number of Muslim nations will attack Israel "in the latter days" (Ezekiel 38:8) when God brings His people home from among the enemy nations (Ezekiel 39:27). Today, we see those exact nations coming together. The alliance they form today is an alliance that has never existed in world history. Rise of a United Europe - The Bible says a revived Roman Empire will come to power in the end times (Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Revelation 17). According to Daniel, it will be a ten nation alliance of weak and strong nations. Some parts will be as strong as iron, while other parts will be as weak as clay (Daniel 2:42). We see the initial stages of this alliance in the European Union - the legal and culture inheritor of the Roman Empire's legacy. The EU today is a coalition of both weak and strong nations. A volatile alliance, it struggles to stay together. The Rise of Global Government - The Bible says a single government will rule the world politically (Revelation 13:7), religiously (Revelation 13:8), and economically (Revelation 13:16-17) in the last days. It will rule over "all people, tribes, and languages" on the face of the earth (Revelation 13:7). Its authority will be so complete no one will be able to buy or sell anything without its permission (Revelation 13:16-17). For centuries, a true global government was impossible. Today, world leaders openly discuss it, and the technology exists to implement and rule such a government. Alone, each of these signs indicate the end times are near. Together, they prove ours is the end times generation. Jesus Himself said to look for these signs. He said when you see them, you can know His return is near (Matthew 24:33). In fact, He said the generation that sees these signs will not pass away before He returns (Matthew 24:34). This convergence of signs is the #1 reason to believe our generation is on the verge of witnessing the Second Coming. But instead of getting excited and ramping up our efforts to spread the Gospel, the Christian church is mostly silent on the issue. A large part of the church is complacent, and the Bible warned about this as well. It's Time to Stay Awake The night before the crucifixion, Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane. He went to be alone and pray. But before He did, Jesus asked the apostles to stay up and pray with Him. He warned them not to fall asleep. Nevertheless, they did. They were finally awakened when soldiers arrived to arrest Jesus. In a similar way, Jesus warned us not to be caught sleeping when He returns (Mark 13:36). To illustrate, He told a story of ten bridesmaids. Of the ten bridesmaids, five were foolish and five were wise. The five foolish bridesmaids didn't take enough oil for their lamps when they went to wait for the bridegroom. When they left to buy more oil, the bridegroom came and they missed out on the marriage feast. Jesus warned us not to be like the foolish bridesmaids. He said, "You, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return" (Matthew 25:1-13). In another parable, Jesus once again commanded us to watch: "You, too, must keep watch! For you don't know when the master of the household will return. It could be evening, midnight, dawn, or daybreak. Don't let the master find you sleeping when he arrives without warning" (Mark 13:35-37). Personally, I've written about the nearness of the Second Coming for over 13 years. Obviously Jesus didn't return in those 13 years, but none of the reasons to expect His return have gone away. In fact, the opposite is true. The reasons to expect Jesus to return at any moment have markedly increased. Yet to great amazement, many Christians seem more complacent and ignorant of the signs than ever. Why? I don't know. But I'll continue to sound the alarm, and you should too. The Bible says if we recognize the signs and don't tell others about them, we're no different than a watchman who sees an invading army and doesn't sound the alarm. If we fail in our role as watchmen, God says He will hold us accountable for all those who perish (Ezekiel 33:1-6). All the signs Jesus and the prophets said to look for are present right now. For almost 2,000 years, no Christian could say that. Our generation is an eyewitness to signs previous Christians could only dream about. If the signs are telling us the Tribulation and the Second Coming are near, then it means the rapture is even closer. Don't fall asleep, and don't let anyone around you fall asleep. It's never been more important to stay awake. Jesus is coming! Israel Watch: Enemy in the Camp - Jim Fletcher - [email protected] There's been a lot of ink lately about whether Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu will deny entry into the country by radical U.S. House members Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib (of Minnesota and Michigan, respectively). Omar in particular has been a lightning rod of controversy since her election. The Somalia-born representative of Minnesota's 5th congressional district, which includes Minneapolis, is widely known for her viciously anti-Semitic statements. Tlaib, perhaps most famous for her extremely vulgar vow to take down President Trump, is from Detroit. Her parents were born in Ramallah and east Jerusalem. Let me clear about something: there are still far too many Americans who either don't understand what people like this are, or they stick their heads in the sand. Maybe that will delay their beheadings one day. Omar has introduced a pro-BDS resolution into Congress. Of course this refers to the totalitarian-style "Boycott/Divestment/Sanctions" movement designed to cripple Israel economically. If only. (By the way, Omar was preceded in office by Keith Ellison, the first Muslim to hop out of the Trojan Horse and land in Congress. He is now attorney general of Minnesota! Their aim is to eventually establish sharia law in the U.S., and conquer our country for Allah. If you don't believe me, educate yourself.) The women are apparently headed to Israel soon. "Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer announced Friday evening that 'out of respect for the US Congress and the great alliance between Israel and America, we would not deny entry to any member of Congress into Israel.'" It isn't a sure thing that the visits will take place, but I disagree with the decision to let them enter Israel, if that indeed takes place. Look, Israel's security is set and I don't worry about that, but I do question allowing an avowed enemy into your home. From a symbolic standpoint, Omar & Co. should be permanently barred. I have a theory. I believe the West has been and is too tolerant of evil. It is endangering us, because the tactic of jihadists (specifically, the Muslim Brotherhood) is to infiltrate, gather strength over many years, then take control. It saddens me very much that our leaders are allowing this to continue. The recent ridiculous controversy over Trump's tweet about "The Squad" (including Omar's buddy, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) and his view that they can "go back" to where they came from and see how it is...it was allowed to be used as propaganda against the President and his supporters. Most of us are aware that "America: Love it Or Leave It" has been a mantra of conservatives for years. It's my mantra. But this view is now looked on as too intolerant, or not nice. Amazing! Just like Hitler's Mein Kampf, the jihadists are telegraphing to us exactly what they have planned for us infidels. As I said, I don't worry about Israel's security, not really. If Netanyahu wants to let another jihadist into the country, that's his business. But I am saddened and alarmed that the Muslim Brotherhood playbook is being implemented according to plan. America one day will look very different, and our national weakness will be the cause. And it should be no surprise that Obama allowed thousands of Somalis to enter our country and settle in Minnesota. Why do you think he did that? We have enemies among us. Nearing Midnight: Don't Fret, George - Terry James - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/ My desire was to take this week's Nearing Midnight commentary in a direction other than end-times geopolitics. It seems this area of stage-setting for fulfilled prophecy has too often dominated my thinking on how near we might be to Christ's call to the Church. But, my desire was overridden; I am convicted, by the Spirit's nudge to deal again with things involving globalism. In preparing for taping a television interview (which by the time this commentary appears will have been completed), one of the interview questions the network gave me kept flashing in my mind's eye: "If we're headed to a new world order and one-world system...if it's been prophesied in Scripture...then what would you say to those who might ask, 'Then, why fight against it?'" The first answer that leaped to mind was Paul the apostle's exhortation as recorded in Ephesians chapter 6. That's the one we've used often in these articles -the description of the battle we face: not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places. We as believers are to dress in the whole armor of God and stand against this evil. I can find no better reason in Scripture for doing as instructed in that preparation for battle against the things so obviously on Satan's agenda as we near that midnight hour of the Tribulation. We who name the name of Christ are not alone as we fight this crucial battle. The Lord Himself is leading the way. I don't want to be misunderstood here. I do not intend to give the current president of the United States glory that belongs to our Lord. Mr. Trump, as pointed out many times in these essays, is but an instrument used to accomplish God' will-wittingly or unwittingly. I do, however, believe that this president is beginning to get the message, through those God has placed around him. That message is that he-Mr. Trump-is in that office and is apparently, for a time determined by the God of Heaven, impervious to the unbelievably virulent assaults that continue to come against him. So it was that I kept having the interview question flashing in my thoughts. "If we're headed to a new world order and one-world system...if it's been prophesied in Scripture...then what would you say to those who might ask, 'Then, why fight against it?'" The answer, in addition to the one involving Ephesians 6, should include this: We should fight against the globalists trying to bring on the Antichrist platform for world rule because the struggle is working. True, it is a temporary stopgap against the evil that is so obviously assaulting America's sovereignty and the last bastion of freedom around the world. But it is indeed working for this end-of-the-age moment so near the time of the Rapture. The Lord is seeing to it that we are able to stand against that wickedness in high places. That force consists of Satan's minions, both human and demonic. We have to look no further than one considered by many to be a prime mover in the effort to bring America into a one-world configuration, to bring this president of the United States down so that a globalist can be installed in the office. We get a picture of our struggle being successful by looking at a quite interesting article: George Soros recently expressed his frustration that "everything that could go wrong has gone wrong" referring to the rapid dismantling of the New World Order spearheaded by President Donald Trump. The billionaire globalist who financed of countless Color Revolutions all across the world told the Washington Post that he was "living in [his] own bubble" due to failing to foresee Trump's meteoric rise. Soros expressed fears that Trump "is willing to destroy the world" and vowed to "redouble [his] efforts" by pouring millions of dollars into opposing everything that the President stands for all across the world. In a recent report by the New York Times, it was revealed that Soros and Hillary Clinton paid women to accuse Donald Trump of rape. Since the report broke, Soros gobbled up a lion's share of the publication by buying $3 million worth of stocks in the NY Times. While the Hungarian-American might come off as full of doom and gloom in his interview, he actually has a reason to feel that way because Trump has single-handedly presided over the dismantlement of the Liberal-Globalist world order that Soros has worked for decades to build. He'll eventually get the new world order he craves. He has God's Word on it: And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:16-17) But that same Word goes on to say further: And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Revelation 19:11-15) Come to think of it, George, on second thought, you should be worried. No doubt about it! Cashless Society - Pathway to The Mark of The Beast? - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=3345 In a sign of the times, Hasbro has released a new cashless version of it's classic board game Monopoly, designed for the digital age. In Hasbro's latest edition of Monopoly, gone are the paper money and Community Chest cards. Instead, the board game now comes with a voice-controlled, artificial intelligence device shaped like a top hat to help control the digital transactions. Countries from around the world have been eager to implement a cashless society but none have moved as fast as Sweden. Notes and coins now make up less than 1 percent of Sweden's economy which is ironic considering it was the first European country to issue modern banknotes, in 1661. "No cash accepted" signs are now the norm in shops across Sweden as payments go digital and mobile but many Swedes want to take it to the next level as they blend tech with the human body. Microchip implants that give people the ability to conduct financial transactions, monitor their health and even replace keycards to allow them to enter offices and buildings are the new rage as thousands have already been implanted. Many experts believe this is the next logical step in a digital society that is quite happy to give up privacy for convenience. Cash is one of the last vestiges of anonymity but with every transaction digital there is a record that is being logged, analyzed and stored.. potentially forever. Realizing the danger of such a cashless society Sweden's Civil Contingencies Agency has issued a guidance warning to every household telling residents to stockpile 'cash in small denominations' for use in emergencies, such as power failures, hackers or even a cyber war which could disable the digital economy. In such a crisis, the economy would literally go back to the dark ages overnight as people would be forced to barter with no means of cash. Last year a "systems issue" prevented customers from the CIBC, one of Canada's largest banks, from accessing their bank accounts for an entire business day. The sentiments of normally patient Canadians were ... tense. Imagine if it had been longer - how long would you be able to survive without your credit/debit cards? It served as a reminder to Canadians and everyone else who rely on everything digital how vulnerable we all are. Our vulnerabilities to the cashless society are not only technical but political as well. Facebook - in partnership with major banks, payment processors, and e-commerce companies - has announced plans to launch a digital currency called the Libra. Unlike decentralized, free-floating cryptocurrencies, Libra will be tied to national fiat currencies, integrated into the financial system, and centrally managed. Critics warn Libra is akin to a "spy coin." Many of the companies involved in Libra (including Facebook itself) routinely ban users on the basis of their political views. Big Tech has booted scores of individuals and groups off social platforms for engaging in "hate" speech. If Libra one day becomes the predominant online payment method, then political dissidents could effectively be banned from all e-commerce. A lesson from the past is the Bush administration's attacks on the credit card processors of pornography sites more than a decade ago. While we might applaud the effort to shut down pornography sites, the financial targeting set a precedent as New York's Comptroller, Thomas DiNapoli, appealed in a letter to major banks and credit card companies to block all transactions associated with firearms. The efforts failed but we have seen recent attempts in a similar way with MasterCard and Visa being pressured to deny service to those that promote "hate", or put another way - Christian and Conservative businesses that don't act politically correct. In the past, if credit cards and banks refused transactions involving something they disagreed with an individual could simply pay in cash, but once physical currency has been eliminated such purchases will require the permission of both corporations and government. A mark to a government ruler in your right hand that controls your ability to buy or sell based on your political/religious loyalty is exactly what is described in the book of Revelation and is often referred to as "the mark of the beast". Those who like to dismiss the book of Revelation as mere allegory may want to take another look. The technology described in Revelation is already here and the next step is taking place before our eyes as the masses are being conditioned to accept it's spread. Slowly but surely we are also seeing our ability to conduct commerce becoming linked with our political/religious views. Are we prepared for what will happen next? Daily Jot: The truth behind the Mueller hearing - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com The long-awaited testimony of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller before the democrat-controlled House Judiciary and Intelligence committees is part of a larger plan to keep the Russian-Trump conspiracy story before the public. Democrats know quite well that little, if any, new information will arise, but the main reason for the hearing is to keep the entire fake news story thriving among the media and voters who may swing Democrat come election time. Case in point is the entire social media campaign House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office has built around the hearing. In addition, Pelosi is equipping Democrats with a six-page talking point document that you know the press will also have handy. The document, found on SCRIBD.com is titled "Exposing the Truth" is a Democratic Party propaganda tool aimed at carrying the false narrative that "House Democrats act to safeguard out democracy and protect our national security...Exposing and combatting president Trump's crimes, corruption and cover-up." Its first paragraph says it all: "Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report uncovered the truth behind one of the most serious attacks on our democracy in our history. The report revealed that the Russians waged an all-out, systematic assault on the 2016 elections to benefit Donald Trump, Trump and his campaign team eagerly welcomed and even encouraged this attack and that Trump and his allies then took calculated steps to obstruct the investigation and cover up the truth." Then the talking-point document makes another outrageous claim: "The Administration has engaged in unparalleled abuses of power and corruption while hiding the truth from the American public - and just this month, President Trump said he would again accept campaign help from the Russian government to win the 2020 election. The fact that the President would betray our country and jeopardize our national security to accept assistance from a foreign adversary to disrupt our elections should alarm all Americans." What should alarm Americans is the propaganda value of such a document and the social media campaign that will tweet, retweet and amplify these claims in complete denial of the Mueller Report findings. Mueller said the Russians tried to influence the 2016 Presidential elections, but President Trump was not part of any coordination with that effort. Mueller said that there was no decision whether the President obstructed the investigation.The Democrats are using their majority in the House as a platform to remove the President. They are obstructing the government by not working on issues, but rather fomenting discord among Americans. Lies, deceit, half-truths are the currency of this ongoing political coup. Don't be deceived by it. Check out the facts for yourself. As Ephesians 5:6 says, "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience." It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. - Romans 8:34 When it comes to prayer, we can get hung up on strange things. Maybe it's on the structure of a prayer or the verbiage we use. Maybe it's the posture and whether we need to close our eyes or be on our knees. We can become fixated on those things and miss the big picture of prayer. Prayer is communication with God. When we pray, God is looking at our hearts more than anything else. That is His primary concern when we come before Him. We may think God doesn't know what is going on and that we have to bring Him up to speed. But prayer is not informing God; prayer is inviting God. Jesus said, "For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him" (Matthew 6:8 NKJV). Prayer is really like the relationship of a father and child. The value of prayer is that it keeps us in touch with God. And God wants to stay in touch with us. Sometimes people will ask me to pray for them, and I try to do it there on the spot, because sometimes I'll forget afterward. So I'll say, "Let's pray right now." It's good to ask others to pray for you, especially if you have a problem, a challenge, or a need. We're even encouraged to pray with each other. Jesus also said, "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven" (Matthew 18:19 NKJV). There is power in unified prayer. We need to pray about everything, and we should pray for one another. But even if we forget, Jesus Christ Himself is interceding and praying for us. And that is no small thing.
