It's very easy to be labeled a 'doom and gloomer' these days for simply reporting the facts. "But facts are a stubborn thing", John Adams once said. Seemingly simple problems for nations to solve often come with extremely complex strings attached. The United States is addicted to spending money. What does one do if they are neck deep in debt? Well, for starters, you stop spending so much money. The muddy waters part is where to stop spending and which programs you're going to cut to actually make a difference. The United States purse strings are ultimately being pulled in two different directions between the far left and the far right. Each side has their sacred cows they refuse to touch, and will only do so at an excruciatingly high cost to the other side. I realize I'm staying pretty vague here but my intent is to show you the forest and the trees, seeing the picture as a whole rather than just individual issues. Our system has three legs of power that constitute the operational managers of a system of systems. The controlling authority being an architectural contract created by the founding fathers of this nation 236 years ago. The basic premise is that man does not guarantee our rights, God does. The three branches of government act to serve as a check and balance against themselves, to prevent anyone from becoming too powerful. So let us do a quick review over how that is going thus far. The Trees One branch has the responsibility to execute the duties of leadership and enact the laws and powers granted to it by a bi-house congressional legislative body. It has worked around the legislative body by creating a small army of un-elected techno/bureau-crats. It has ignored or bypassed the legislation to initiate warfare, emplace unconstitional bureaucratic legislation (mandatory healthcare), and refused to enforce the laws that are already in place. The other branch entrusted with creating the laws and control spending, can't because it remains too entrenched in the pockets of special interest groups. The handful of actual honest and trustworthy ones have a difficult time getting anything passed either by committee or through house votes due to the divisiveness of the interests represented there. Both houses recognize the dire dilemma we are in financially, but can't even agree to meaningful steps toward achieving that goal. The last branch acts as the legal authority that enforces the laws of the land as an ultimate last resort of legal interpretation of the architecture otherwise known as the Constitution. The problem with this branch is, lifetime appointments that were meant as a safeguard against knee-jerk movements of the political climate of any given decade, also means that they become defenders of 'their' interpretation we have to live with for most of our lives. Appointments, whether right or left, have long-term ramifications. And to think we have the best system on earth? The problem with our system is that man is running it. Man is flawed and sinful, therefore, unable by default of ever having a system that actually functions as it should for any longer than a brief period of time. The Forest Geo-political strategists often use terms like 'red-line' or 'point of no return' to signal events that once happen, can't be undone. Like the proverbial bell that cannot be 'unrung', so too are the 'red-lines' that once crossed, forever change the geo-political landscape. We (U.S.) have crossed that economic 'red-line' some time ago. We have put ourselves in such a financially distressing position, that most politicians and talking head pundits would rather discuss things from a hole in the sand than deal with them honestly. Those who are honest are labeled 'alarmists'. Is it alarmist to yell 'fire' in a theater if it is actually on fire? We have crossed that economic 'red-line' and have no other recourse than to radically and fundamentally change the way we function as an economy. It has to change, because there simply is no other way around the magnitude of unsustainable debtwe've accumulated. There are not enough years left on the planet to pay off what we owe, and by the way, we are not alone. Budget cuts and austere fiscal measures are about as popular here as they are in places like Greece, London, and Spain. The choice will become, do we as a society agree to reduce the quality of life here in the good ol US of A, or do we keep things as they are, and go to a new system? I think overwhelmingly, most people will willingly authorize the use of another currency or system in order to keep welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, and subsidies rather than lose all of them. Why? Because people still need to eat, see the doctor, and help pay the bills. People still need paychecks to own cars, put roofs over their heads, and put their kids through school. So we are at a loggerhead as a nation in that we have reached that point of both having unsustainable debt and an unwillingness to change our ways. Something will have to give, and I'm willing to bet that tweaking the Constitution is going to be sold as the least painful option. And once we go to a global currency (whatever that looks like) we will no longer control our nation. Don't believe me that we are that close to doing it? Look at the chaos the world is currently enduring: a promising nuclear and genocidal Iran, a hermit nuclear nation ran by a 29 yr old, a burgeoning Russia and China, suicidal and maniacal jihadists, and 35 other armed conflicts currently ongoing in the world today and we want to SHRINK our military? We want to reduce the means in which we have to defend ourselves? Things must be a lot worse than anyone can imagine. The big picture is that America is at that point where it is now willing to trade autonomy for security. Soon, we will be no different than Greece or Italy. We just have the best militaries right now, which is why no one is forcing our hand at the moment. But there is coming a day when all of our military-might will not be able to stop the forces seeking to force us to become subservient in our role as the big stick in someone else's hand. The wealth, power, and might of the US will come to naught pretty soon, and everything people have worked and slaved away for all their lives will seem rather irrelevant in the months and years to come. Silver Lining "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 Where is your treasure laid up? Is it in the next Ronald Reagan? Gold and silver? A 401K with stock options? This age is coming rapidly to a close. Our current system is unraveling faster and faster and if you've placed your faith and trust in your own ability to provide a long, comfortable life, you're going to be disappointed. Satan can see the storm clouds gathering, so he's instituting his plans with greater swiftness and ferocity. The fact that we are becoming irrelevant is only relevant as it pertains to how close we are to the end of this dispensation. It is becoming more and more apparent, that the US will not have some kind of massive revival and repent as a nation again. There is a reason why the Bible makes no mention of great nation in the west in the last days. Regardless of how it happens, something does. We are as a nation, buckling under our own weight. At this point, super-committees and last minute budget deals are as meaningful as rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 The silver lining is that salvation is yours for the asking. You need only place your faith in Jesus Christ to change your life and your eternal destiny forever. Oh, and some sound spiritual advice is, you shouldn't wait too long either. Because His return is a lot sooner than you think.

II Chronicles 3:1 (The Israel Bible™) In another manifestation of Biblical precepts interacting with modern life, a private foundation representing the descendants of King David recently launched a lawsuit presenting a legal claim to ownership of the Temple Mount. While their claim is legally sound and verifiable, it faces significant political hurdles. One of the suit's beneficiaries, who claims descent from the Davidic Dynasty, is ready for the legal battle but cautiously pragmatic. This story has simple beginnings. In 2004, Dr. Boruch Fishman, then a recent immigrant to Israel from America, went to tour the tomb of Samuel the prophet north of Jerusalem, which led to a chance meeting with Israel Aurbach, the owner of a nearby farm. Inspired by the Biblical roots of the setting, they began to discuss the link between the House of David and the Temple Mount. They noted that King David purchased the site, originally for a simple altar. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. And David built there an altar unto Hashem, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. II Samuel 24:24-25 The pair concluded that since the site was originally the property of King David, and no one else has legally purchased it in the interim, the Temple Mount should have been passed along as an inheritance to his male descendants. As a result of the discussion, Dr. Fishman hit upon the idea of creating a legal entity to represent all the descendants of King David. Anyone who could prove male lineage from the house of David would have a legal claim to inherit the Temple as property. Dr. Fishman established a foundation to advance the claim of Temple Mount ownership by King David's descendants, naming it Canfei Nesharim L'maan Hakahal (Wings of Eagles for the Assembly). At present, the legal entity created by Dr. Fishman represents two claimants who have genealogical records documenting their lineage back to King David through male descendants. Genealogy from the Royal House of David can be traced through oral tradition, rabbinic sources, historical data and extensive research. Several families claim descent "ben akhar ben" (father to son) in a direct line, most notably the Dayan, Shealtiel and Charlap/Don Yechia families. The descendants of King David are believed to have settled in Aleppo, Syria, so most claimants trace their lineage back to that city. An online project has been set up to maintain a list of these claimants. By definition of the foundation, any other all male descendants of King David who wishes to join the suit can do so at any time. Breaking Israel News asked the foundation's lawyer, Baruch Ben Yosef, about the strength of their case. "Surprisingly, the Temple Mount is not listed in Israel Land Authority," Ben Yosef explained. Ben Yosef is referring to an aspect of land ownership in Israel, where less than ten percent of land in Israel is privately owned. Over 90 percent of the property in Israel is owned by the Israeli government, via the Jewish National Fund (JNF) and the Israel Lands Administration. When land is purchased in Israel, it must be registered with these authorities and is, essentially, a long-term lease. Since the Temple Mount is not registered under these authorities, it can be considered privately owned. "The fact that it is under the authority of the Waqf or Jordan is not a legal claim to ownership. It is a temporary condition based on power and not a valid legal claim," Ben Yosef said. "You would think that the State of Israel owns it, but by not registering it, they have clearly expressed they don't have an interest in owning it. "Since it can be privately owned, the people who claim lineage to King David have a legal claim," Ben Yosef concluded. "If we make a claim in court, the court would have to disprove the claim. The burden of proof would be on them. But in the meantime, the Land Authority won't do anything without a court order from the High Court." Breaking Israel News contacted one of the litigants represented by the legal entity. Mordechai Mitchell Dayan from Chicago has verifiably traced his family lineage back 87 generations via male descendants to King David. "A militant takeover of the Temple Mount is certainly not my goal," prefaced Dayan. "You don't have to establish that we legally own the land in order to bring Messiah. We also have to deal with world opinion and the opinion of the Israeli government in a realistic manner." World opinion contradicts his claim. UNESCO has denied any historical Jewish ties to the site. Dayan felt that the obstacle preventing the Jews from taking their rightful place on the Temple Mount had little to do with the justification of his claim. "It is universally accepted that King David purchased the Temple Mount," he said, clarifying, "Well, everywhere except the United Nations." Dayan acknowledged that on that basis, he has a valid legal claim and, as a religious Jew, his interests are for the good of the Jewish people. Nonetheless, he feels the question is not one of legality, but of political interests. "Who is going to judge this? Who do I make my claim to? Even if I wanted to make this claim, the High Court of Israel doesn't want to hear this. The State of Israel doesn't want to hear this. The world is willing to lie about it. My entire ancestry has been wronged, but there is no court I can take this to.

Supreme leader also accuses US of involvement in Turkish coup, claims Iranians not benefiting from nuclear deal Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tweeted his anger Monday at the recent strengthening of ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel. He harshly criticized the recent meetings between Israel and Saudi officials as an attack on Islam. "Revelation of Saudi government's relations with Zionist regime was stab in the back of Islamic Ummah," he tweeted. The term "ummah" literally means "community," and refers to the entire Islamic world, linking Shiite Iran with the Saudi Sunni regime. He went on to accuse the Saudis of a multitude of crimes in Yemen, tweeting, "Aggression on #Yemen & nonstop bombing of 'houses, hospitals & schools' & continuous infanticide are other big crimes of Saudi government." Riyadh, he claimed, was doing the bidding of the US: "Today, #Saudi government is in hands of unwise people, but close scrutiny shows US hands are behind all these issues." While on the subject of US involvement in foreign countries, he also claimed that Washington was behind the failed military coup in Turkey. "In recent events in #Turkey, strong accusations are raised against Americans being behind coup; if proved, it is a huge scandal for US." Also on Monday, Khamenei said in an official statement that average Iranians have not seen any benefit from the nuclear deal with world powers. "Weren't the supposed sanctions lifted to change the life of the people? Is any tangible effect seen in people's life after six months?" state media quoted Khamenei as saying. Khamenei, who has final say on all state matters, said the US has continued to thwart Iran's economic relations with other countries despite the landmark accord. He said Tehran would not accept any further talks with Washington due to what he described as US violations of the deal. The deal, which went into effect in January, limited Iran's nuclear program in return for lifting some sanctions. There has been ongoing disappointment in the results of the deal from various Iranian figures. "Iran has done its part. The blockage comes from the Americans - the Europeans should put more pressure on them," said a European diplomat in Tehran, speaking on condition of anonymity. "There are political leaders in the United States who make Iran out to be the devil and have not understood the goal of this accord," he added. "The US used this deal to put more pressure on us, trying to make us change our behavior in the Middle East or give up our ties with (Lebanese militia) Hezbollah," said Amir Mohebbian, a Tehran-based political analyst with ties to politicians of all hues. "History has taught us we should not trust the United States."

From the murder of a French priest to the slaughter of 80 Shia Muslims in Kabul, ISIS has one goal: to get states and the far-right to single out Sunni Muslims and create a spate of religious civil wars across the world. Did anyone at the Democratic National Convention notice the slaughter of 86-year-old Father Jacques Hamel, as jihadists slit his throat in his own church in Northern France during morning Mass? Well... here's why they'd better start paying attention. For our own future's sake, we must understand what jihadists are seeking to achieve through sowing the seeds of such chaos. What possible military strategy could there be in mowing 84 innocent people down to death using a lorry in Nice? How is "the cause" at all served by murdering 325 mainly Shia Muslims in Baghdad? Or by killing 80 mainly Shia Hazara Muslims in Kabul? In fact, since the start of Ramadan last month, and till the time of writing on July 27, 2016, there have been 75 attacks in 50 days by various jihadist groups globally. This amounts to attacks in 21 countries at a rate of one-and-a-half per day, leaving over 1,169 dead, not including the injured and maimed. The 21 countries and territories attacked have been Jordan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Syria, Israel, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Libya, France, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Malaysia, Turkey, Mali, Palestine, Cameroon, Saudi, Thailand, and Germany. Sixteen of those are Muslim-majority territories. Yes, these attacks were organized by disparate jihadist groups-all professing the same ideology-and many of them have a distinct command and control structure. But sowing the seeds of indiscriminate chaos among their enemy is a tactic modern jihadist groups now all share. So what could they possibly be hoping to achieve? Sadly, there is jihadist method to this madness. ISIS-adopted playbook Idarat al-Tawahhush, or the Management of Savagery, elaborates. The so-called Islamic State, widely known as ISIS, seeks not to spark a World War, but to ignite a World Civil War. This book on jihadist war theory first appeared online around 2004 and was attributed to an ideologue who goes by the nom de guerre Abu Bakr al-Naji. Naji instructed followers to incite ethnic, sectarian, and religious hatred throughout the world so that societies end up dividing along mutual mistrust and a desire for revenge. Naji's hope was that Sunni Muslims would then largely be blamed-as they now are-as the cause of this intolerance and violence, rendering them hated and left isolated. Naji even highlights the importance of provoking heavy state military responses against Sunni Muslims everywhere, so that entire populations of Sunnis feel suspected and attacked by everyone else around them, and turn in on themselves. The idea is that through such division Sunnis would find no refuge from angry non-Muslims and over-reacting states, except in jihadists who would embrace them. In turn, Sunnis would end up swelling the ranks of jihadists' militias as they began to protect themselves against reprisal attacks. Behold, a world divided along sectarian religious lines, the ideal conditions for a "caliphate." If you think this is wishful thinking on the part of ISIS, think again. It is precisely by managing chaos-the Management of Savagery-in this way that ISIS became the most effective jihadist group in post-Saddam Iraq. So uncannily did Iraq's Shia majority government under Nouri al-Maliki follow ISIS sectarian game plan, that they unwittingly created a climate north of Baghdad in which Iraqi Sunni's felt isolated, under siege, disempowered, and brutalized by Maliki's Shia majority state as it clamped down on jihadist terror. Of course, the government of Iraq was merely reacting to the ever-increasing mass-casualty atrocities orchestrated by jihadists based out of Fallujah against the beleaguered Shia Muslims in Iraq. But crucially, the Iraqi government reacted through a sectarian lens, and failed to isolate the terrorists from Iraq's general Sunni Arab population. These Sunni Arabs eventually turned to ISIS in the hope that they would be a strong hand against the Iraqi regime. There was a grain of truth to that. Fresh from their success in Northern Iraq, ISIS repeated their method of chaos in Syria. Early on, at the start of Syria's civil war, ISIS had not been the main fighting force against Bashar al-Assad. But by continuing to pressure Assad's brutal regime to overreact, and Assad's eagerness to oblige (a penchant that had been handed down from father to the son), ISIS managed to convince enough of the Sunni Arab population in the south of Syria that they were the only effective fighting force able to resist Assad on the ground, while the international community stood aloof. There was a grain of truth in that. This is how chaos, division, savagery, and hatred suit ISIS. The only master that chaos submits to is the total tyrant. Perpetual civil war, rather than perpetual war between states, suits those who wish to build a new world order carved out of existing states. Equal treatment on a citizenship basis means nothing to jihadists. There is no better way to kickstart dividing people along exclusively religious lines than by committing atrocities in the name of Islam. The hope is that everyone else also begins to identify Sunni Muslims primarily by their religious identities, in reaction to the atrocities. In this way, religious identity has won and citizenship becomes redundant. Unprovoked mass slaughter is a provocation designed to spread panic and fear, aimed at inching Europe closer to a religion-based civil war. Brace yourselves, for there will be many more such provocations. Chaos breeds fear, which creates panic, which leads to both paralysis and spasms of over-reaction simultaneously. We now either witness total denial in that this problem "has nothing to do with Islam," or a gross generalization that the problem includes all of Islam and every Muslim. Both of these reactions are born of fear. Doing barely enough, and doing too much, will both exacerbate tensions. Neither are sensible. Of course the problem of jihadist terrorism has something to do with Islam. And course it is a problem that Muslims need to play a very active role in solving, alongside everyone else. Meanwhile, we have never been more divided. Too many Muslims still insist that to challenge Islamist extremism breeds anti-Muslim bigotry, while they fail to grasp that it is the Islamists themselves who provoke anti-Muslim hatred thorough their divisive agenda, and by insisting on defining Muslims against others primarily by our religious identity. Our collective task will be to robustly stand against the division caused not just by the far-right who seek to isolate Europe's Muslims, but to challenge the very same division promoted by the Islamists themselves within our Muslim communities. Only by reasserting the universality of our secular liberal democratic citizenship are we able to protect the multiplicity of identities, as opposed to the exclusionary religion-based identification that Islamists and anti-Muslim bigots thrive on. No insurgency can survive without a level of ideological support within the community it seeks to recruit from. To isolate the terrorists from their host population must be a priority for us all. One needn't be black to condemn racism. Likewise, one needn't be Muslim to condemn any expression of theocratic Islamism. All of us must stand together to condemn all forms of hatred and bigotry, without exception. But this will be a generational struggle against the Islamist ideology in its entirety, and not merely against the latest jihadist terror group. For years my colleagues at Quilliam and I have been screaming at every opportunity of a global jihadist insurgency that cannot be defeated merely by law or war, but requires a full-spectrum civil society struggle against it. Understanding this makes it incumbent on us to begin working in earnest to actively avoid this civil war before certain vested interests on the far-right and Islamist extremes succeed in sparking it. For if you were wondering what this global jihadist insurgency looks like, look around you, we're in the thick of it.

Can a person be raptured to the wrong planet? Is it possible to be caught up from planet Earth and get misdirected to the psychiatric ward on Planet X? It is hard to imagine, but some of the stories that made the news last week seem unreal to this writer. First, let's start with the report that doctors are getting requests from men who think they are a woman to operate on them so they can get pregnant. Some of these men have had a sex-change operation and they are of the opinion that their dream of being a woman won't be complete until they can get pregnant. Scientists are trying to figure out a way to make it happen. (Does the phrase "reprobate mind" come to anyone's attention?) Second, it was reported that an affiliate of al-Qaida wants Islamic terrorists to limit their killings to white people. This well-known Islamic terrorist group thinks that killing white people is better because Pres. Obama and his corrupt media won't give them the credit they desire if the victims are gays, Hispanics, blacks or others. It is an established fact that several Islamic terrorists, such as Omar Mateen the Orlando murderer of 49, went to great lengths to let the authorities know that they were followers of Islam. They intentionally pointed this out because they wanted Allah and Islam to get the glory for their demonic deeds. But Allah and Islam didn't get the glory the murderers desired because the politically correct crowd (Pres. Obama, the Democrats and the liberal media) won't admit that Muslims kill gays, Hispanics, blacks and other non-whites. That truth is just not politically correct. So they blamed the killings on work place violence, mentally ill people and the like. But Allah and Islam will get the glory if the Islamic terrorists limit their killings to whites because it is politically correct to kill whites. After all, Pres. Obama, the Democrats and the liberal media believe most whites are conservative Christian Islamophobic gun owners that deserve to die for their hatred of Muslims and others. (Do the words "racism," "intolerance," and "persecution" come to anyone's mind?) Third, during the opening session of its recent General Assembly the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. invited a Muslim to pray to Allah. (Do the words and phrases "blasphemy," "false church," "form of godliness," "departing from the faith," "left behind," "depart from me," "judgment" or "waste of time" come to anyone's mind?) Fourth, the police in Twin Falls, Idaho recently arrested three refugees (two from Sudan and one from Iraq) for molesting a five-year-old girl. Two of them were sent to a detention center for brutalizing the little girl. Three Islamic thugs molesting a five-year-old child may not be hard to imagine, but how about this: A lawyer appointed by Pres. Obama is threatening to prosecute people if they criticize Mr. Obama's immigration policies. (Do the words and phrases "diabolical" or "demon possessed come to anyone's mind? This is a man that lectures Americans on how to treat people.) Fifth, the CIA has been shipping weapons to Jordan for transfer to Muslim rebels that are trying to overthrow Syria's Pres. Bashar Al-Assad. But corrupt Jordanian officials have been selling some of the weapons instead of passing them on to the intended group. Now, some of these weapons have been used to kill two Americans in Jordan. (Does the phrase "Fast and Furious" come to anyone's mind? Can the CIA really protect the U.S. from Islamic terrorists?) Sixth, the U.S. military is helping Jordan build a $500 million defensive fence on its borders with Syria and Iraq to help protect Jordan from ISIS, Syria, Iraq and Iran. (Is anyone wondering how the U.S. military can build a fence on Jordan's border that will keep terrorists out, if they can't build a fence on America's border that will keep terrorists out?) My Review of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Over the last 35 years, I have literally read hundreds of books on Bible Prophecy and End Time signs. I especially enjoy books on the Rapture, and I have read almost every Rapture-related book published. In all those years, devouring thousands of pages, and millions of words, I have not read a better book on the Rapture than, Rapture Ready...Or Not? Terry James might be physically blind, but he is spiritually sharp and well discerning beyond most authors. In "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Terry has nailed the pre-trib Rapture, and removed any doubt what so ever about the Church going through the Tribulation. With great insight and Godly discernment, Terry explains with simple, yet profound words, why and how that he has come to believe the ways he does about the Rapture, the Tribulation, and the End Times scenario. Since before the Syrian civil war began in 2011, the United States has been working for regime change there. The Russians have been on the opposite side - doing all they could to prop up President Bashar al-Assad's government. In fact, if the Russians hadn't intervened in the war last year, Assad might well have fallen by now, ending the deadly war. So why did Secretary of State John Kerry announce on July 15th that the United States and Russia would be working together in Syria? What common cause do the two nations have there? Both sides claim to be fighting terrorists, but the U.S. wants to aid the so-called "moderate rebels" in their fight to overthrow Assad. Russia is on Assad's side. They fight against everyone trying to get rid of him. Kerry says the two sides have agreed to coordinate their battle against al-Qaeda's Syrian branch, known until this week as the al-Nusra Front. He said the agreement was intended to "significantly reduce the violence and help create the space for a genuine and credible political transition" in Syria. In the last few days, al-Nusra leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, announced a split from al-Qaeda. He said his group will now be known as "Jabhat Fateh al-Sham," or "The Front for Liberation of al Sham." According to CNN, "U.S. officials quickly dismissed the rebranding as a public relations ploy." The pact with Russia will continue. Secretary Kerry refused to give any specifics on how Russia and the U.S. will be cooperating. He said, "The concrete steps that we have agreed on are not going to be laid out in public in some long list because we want them to work." Defense Department leaders then did something almost unprecedented. They openly scorned the foreign policy branch of their own government. Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said, "The Secretary of Defense has been clear that he has been skeptical of Russia's activities in Syria and we have reason for that. There are plenty of reasons for that skepticism. And I think he maintains that skepticism." On Syria, the Obama Administration looks like a "house divided." So what's going? Though Secretary Kerry refused give details of the agreement, it obviously centers around the military. State Department employees won't be coordinating attacks with the Russians. It will be members of the armed forces. Defense Secretary Carter correctly believes Russia's presence has extended the war, and the misery. He said, "We had hoped that they would promote a political solution and transition to put an end to the civil war, which is the beginning of all this violence in Syria... They're a long way from doing that." President Obama and Secretary Kerry know that anything we do to help the Russians helps Assad. This, then, looks like a significant shift in U.S. policy toward Bashar al-Assad, Syria, and the civil war. With only a few months of his presidency left, Barrack Obama may have given up on Syria. Earlier this year, he said, "Syria has been a heart-breaking situation of enormous complexity, and I don't think there are any simple solutions." Frederic Hof, writing in The Atlantic, said, "Syria's 'complexity' is the administration's last-ditch defense for an astounding five-year bottom line: Not one single Syrian protected from the merciless, unrelenting, and deliberate campaign of mass homicide and collective punishment inflicted by the Assad regime against millions of Syrians." Few U.S. presidents have ever seen a foreign policy disaster quite like Syria. In June fifty-one State Department diplomats released a memo that severely criticized the Obama Administration's handling of the civil war. In the New York Times, Max Fisher characterized the basic disagreement between the diplomats and the Administration. "Current policy has little answer for how to break out of a status quo that is disastrous and steadily getting worse." To express the depth and magnitude of Syrian despair, we're reduced to the use of statistics - mere numbers to account for human lives. By February of this year, 11.5% of Syrians had been killed or injured according to the Syrian Centre for Policy Research. That group estimates that by February, 470,000 people had died. Forty-five percent of Syria's population has been displaced by the war. In 2010, life expectancy for Syrians was at 70. By 2015, it had dropped to 55. It all started with the "Arab Spring" - something the Obama Administration's State Department, then led by Hillary Clinton, encouraged at every turn. They mistakenly saw the "Arab Spring" as democracy taking root in the Muslim Middle East. They believed an era of freedom and human dignity was about to flourish all across that troubled region. Their mistake was in not understanding the nature of Islam. The "Arab Spring" quickly became an excuse for brutal despotism. Nation after nation fell to violence. Most have not recovered. New terror groups such as ISIS were born, and old terror groups such as al-Qaeda were strengthened. On the other hand, those who think we can safely ignore crises in other countries don't understand just how small our world has become. America totally withdrew from Iraq, and did as little as possible in Syria. Those two actions created ISIS, opened the door to the Russians, and sent millions of refugees surging out of Syria and the Middle East, and into the rest of the world. So what do we do? The short answer is, pray. The long answer includes repentance. The Old Testament gives ample evidence that when God withdraws His favor from a land, intractable problems become the norm. Our hope today - our only hope - is in God's mercy. And that's how we should pray.

Now that Hillary Clinton has made history by being the first woman nominated to be president by the Democratic Party, there will be another first if she is elected--to raise taxes on you by ONE TRILLION dollars. She says that she will try not to raise taxes on Americans making less than $250,000, but her proposals say otherwise. She wants an increase in the death tax-so government can take your inheritance; increase payroll taxes-money you will never see; a tax increase on gun purchases, soda drink purchases, income taxes, and $400 billion in what she calls a "fairness tax." That means you are really going to get hammered. All the while, Clintons donors are finding loopholes to avoid paying taxes. Take a look. Mossack Fonseca is a law firm that registers offshore companies to evade taxes and launder money. Recently, a leak of its client base through the "Panama Papers" indicated a "who's who" of close friends of Clinton and her philandering husband. McClatchy News reports among them are Gabrielle Flalkoff, finance director for Hillary Clinton's first US Senate campaign; the Chagoury family, which pledged $1 billion in projects to the Clinton Global Initiative; and Chinese billionaire Ng Lap Seng, who was at the center of a Democratic fund-raising scandal when Bill Clinton was president; and late billionaire investor Marc Rich an international fugitive when Bill Clinton pardoned him in the final hours of his presidency. It will take years to unravel the Friends of Clintons shenanigans to evade taxes, and perhaps even launder money to unscrupulous causes (think Saudi Arabia, Huma Abidin, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.) using offshore accounts and the scandal-ridden Clinton Foundation. But the hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton is further exposed by her rhetoric against offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes. McClatchy reports that at the recent AFL-CIO convention she condemned what she called "outrageous tax havens and loopholes that super-rich people across the world are exploiting...Now, some of this behavior is clearly against the law, and everyone who violates the law anywhere should be held accountable." Accountable, really? Hillary Clinton is proposing a ONE TRILLION dollar tax increase if she is elected. She goes around the country condemning the rich and their tax avoidance. She collects hundreds of thousands of dollars for her speeches (which is essentially legal money laundering for her campaign). Yet her closest allies, who give her and her husband hundreds of millions of dollars, are suspected money launderers and tax evaders. There is a warning in Proverbs 22:16, saying, "He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to want." Clinton and her ilk oppress the poor while saying they support the poor. Those that give her a vote will see fruits of coming to want. She is a destructive person by virtue of her history and body of work.

But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way. -1 Corinthians 11:31 It has been said that self-satisfaction is the death of progress. Any Christian who really knows what it is to follow Jesus always will realize there is a long way to go. We want to keep moving forward spiritually. We have to keep growing and learning. And if we want to see a revival, then we need to humble ourselves and pray. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God says, "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." Of the twelve Hebrew words employed in the Scriptures to express the verb pray, the one used here in 2 Chronicles 7:14 means "to judge self habitually." We are so quick to judge and criticize others habitually when the Bible says we actually should be judging ourselves. Simply put, to judge ourselves means that we recognize we have a long way to go. Are you satisfied with where you are spiritually? After years of walking with the Lord, the apostle Paul said this: I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (Philippians 3:12-14) If we were to spend less time criticizing others and spend more time examining ourselves, then maybe we would experience a revival.
