The Judge of All the Earth Will Do Right - By Paul Kocourek -
http://www.raptureready.com/2018/07/26/judge-earth-will-right-paul-kocourek/ I believe in the Pretribulation Rapture. Many do not. Some insist the Church will go halfway through the 70th Week's seven years (Mid-Trib Rapture). Others insist on maybe three-quarters (Pre-Wrath Rapture). Still others insist on going through the entire seven years of the 70th Week (Post-Trib Rapture). I wonder if the non-Pre-Trib Rapture proponents really understand what they are saying. Let us look at some rather unnerving math about the 70th Week (aka the Tribulation). The Bible teaches in Revelation chapter 6 that, by the time the first four Seals have been broken, 1/4th of the Earth will be slain. "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth" (Rev 6:8, KJV). Now, the elements are as follows: "To kill with the sword" is the 2nd Seal, the rider on the red horse. It wields a "mega" (Greek μέγας megas) or "great" sword. To a world that has seen World War 1 and then World War 2, this means World War 3. "and with hunger" is the 3rd Seal, the rider on a black horse, an incredible worldwide killing famine "and with death." For what form(s) that death will take, we need only to look at a parallel passage in Matthew 24: "and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places" (Matt 24:7b). So, the death toll from the 4th Seal will include people dying from plagues, and from earthquakes. "and with the beasts of the earth" is the result of the catastrophic global famine, such that animals are starving so badly that they attack and eat people. How many people, in real world terms, will die from just the first four Seals, all in the first half of the seven years of the 70th Week (aka the Tribulation)? Let us do some math. (Be warned - this is unsettling!) The estimate for the current world population is 7.6 billion people. So, here is the math: 7.6 billion estimated now; 0.6 billion Pre-Trib Raptured assumed (only God knows exactly how many), 1/4th of those 7 billion killed during the first half of the 70th Week via the first four Seals. 7 billion divided by four = 1.75 billion. 1.75 billion divided by 3-1/2 years = an average of 500,000,000 PER YEAR. Friends, that is a staggering number! That is not 500 hundred thousand (which in itself is a horrifying death toll). No, that is five hundred MILLION, a thousand times worse! That is more deaths than from ALL the deaths combined from ALL the wars Mankind has ever fought since the days of Adam and Eve to our day. If the Pre-Trib Rapture is not correct, then we as believers have to face a stupendous, enormous, overwhelming death toll (as an average) of 500,000,000 (five hundred MILLION) each year! That means we can say to the non-pretrib Rapture people: If your non-Pre-Trib Rapture view is correct, then YOU - personally - will likely die in a WWIII atomic mushroom cloud, or starve to death, or catch and die a horrible and deadly plague disease, or be killed in a colossal earthquake, or be eaten by wild animals. Yes, those deadly things are what will happen in just the first 3-1/2 years with the first four Seals being broken before the middle of the Tribulation. Yes, to such people, we have to ask, "Do you REALLY understand what you are saying?" It is all well and good when the discussion is in the setting of an ivory tower academic format, but what I am trying to show - in real world terms - is what the horrifying ramifications are from Scripture for what people (those believing in a non-pretrib Rapture viewpoint) would be facing. As I write this, it is July 2018, nearly August 2018, which means there are just five months left to this year (2018). If the Rapture happened by the end of this month (July 2018), and the Tribulation started in August 2018, some quick math will show 500,000,000 - *5/12 equals about 200,000,000 (two hundred MILLION) people will be dead, not by some vague, far-off time in some far distant future, but by Christmas or New Year's - THIS YEAR (2018)! Now I ask you: what could possibly happen to kill 200,000,000 people BY THE END OF THIS YEAR, in just a short five months? (That is assuming the Tribulation started this coming August 2018). Folks, the truth is, once the 70th Week (aka the Tribulation) begins, God is not messing around. He will be judging the world for its wickedness, and people will DIE! He hates sin. For two thousand years, He has patiently and lovingly extended grace to the world, offering the free gift of salvation to all who would believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved, believing that though we have sinned and deserve death for our sin, yet God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should NOT perish, but have everlasting life. Now that I have laid such horrifying death toll numbers before you, may I show you a reason the Pre-Trib Rapture is true, such that the believers in Jesus Christ, the Church-His body of believers, will not be here for these terrifying death toll numbers? (I hope your answer is, YES! Show us!) The Lord Jesus Christ, in speaking of the Tribulation, said that those days would be like the days of Noah and Lot (the nephew of Abraham): "And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed" (Luke 21:26-30). Back in Genesis, God approached Abraham and revealed He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their exceedingly great wickedness. "And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD" (Gen 18:20-22). Abraham began to plead with God over Sodom and Gomorrah (his righteous nephew Lot lived in Sodom). "And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?" (Gen 18:23-25). In the day of Abraham and Lot, God would not destroy righteous Lot along with the wicked people. (The Apostle Peter called Lot "that righteous man" (2 Peter 2:7-8.) So, we see from way back in Genesis, that God will not slay the righteous along with the wicked. We who believe in Jesus today are the righteous in this day and age, and God never changes. He will catch us up from Earth in the Rapture before that 500,000,000 per year death toll begins, so that He as the Judge of all the Earth will do right and not slay the righteous along with the wicked, "that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee." So, the Pre-Trib Rapture is correct because it is consistent with the very nature and character of God, not to "to slay the righteous with the wicked." He will send Jesus one day (perhaps even today) to call us who believe in Jesus to meet the Lord Jesus in the clouds in the air, and so we shall evermore be with the Lord. "Wherefore, comfort one another with these words." Amen! Maranatha! (Contact Paul Kocourek on Facebook in the group, "Bible Prophecy and Grace.") Iran Knocking on Israel's Door As Assad Retakes Border - By Benjamin Kerstein - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=2452 Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad's successful takeover of the area adjacent to the border with Israel marks a "very painful strategic failure" for the Jewish state, an Israeli expert told The Algemeiner on Tuesday. The Assad regime -- backed by Russia and Iran -- launched a massive offensive in recent weeks against rebel strongholds in southwestern Syria near the Golan Heights border with Israel. In the past few days, the last pockets of resistance have been defeated and Assad's forces have essentially declared victory. Veteran Israeli journalist Ehud Yaari believes that this is bad news for Israel for several reasons, mainly due to its failure to exploit the opportunity to topple the Assad regime and thus deal a blow to Iran's imperial ambitions in the region. "Israel has suffered in my opinion a very painful strategic failure in Syria," he said in an exclusive interview with The Algemeiner, "because the government and the army were over-cautious, and didn't take the measures necessary over the past seven years of the civil war in order to assure that Assad is removed." "The failure to get Assad removed means that he was saved by the Iranians and, of course, the Russians," Yaari continued. "And the Iranians are the main players. I personally consider it a very grave mistake on our part. And there will be consequences." Iran, Yaari said, is by now burrowed deep into the Syrian military. "Assad doesn't have an army," he explained. "When people speak about the Syrian army, Assad's army, there is no army. There are remnants of the once-huge army that he had. And mainly what you have is an array, a myriad of all sorts of militias. Many of them affiliated in one way or another with the Iranians, with Hezbollah. So when the Syrian army is going to retake the positions along the Golan line, that means that we will see these type of forces positioned there." Nonetheless, Yaari feels that war is unlikely in the short term. "I think that the Syrians and Iranians are not interested in any flare-up along the border," he stated. "I think because they have different priorities. They have to stabilize Assad's hold on Syria. It's a country which is destroyed to a great extent. They have to rebuild an army. They have to do a lot of stuff before they are seeking to engage the IDF. Therefore, I believe that we will see the Syrians, whether from this myriad of remnants of the army and militias, they will take the old positions that they had, as long as they don't shoot fire at us, the Israelis will remain calm." In the long term, however, Iran will entrench its control in Syria, something Israel has pledged to prevent. "The Iranians will increase, slowly but steadily, to get themselves not just entrenched in Syria but entrenched within the Syrian army, and this is what they are doing," Yaari assessed. "So all in all, if we are trying to look ahead a few years from now, what I see is the emergence of growing Iranian proxies within the Syrian army," he predicted. "They will pursue the effort to upgrade the arsenal of missiles and get them much more accurate, will pursue their efforts to establish intelligence facilities, etc., etc." Israel's current response to this, in Yaari's view, is effective only in the short term. "I think that what Israel is doing is Israel is sending the Air Force," he said. "When you identify an Iranian target, an Iranian convoy, a shipment, etc., Israel sends the air force in. It disrupts. The Iranians don't have a good answer to that. It disrupts the Iranian effort, it stalls it, it doesn't stop it." The future, however, is far more worrisome, Yaari cautioned. "What will come next is, I believe, sooner or later, the few American troops east of the Euphrates river, close to the borders of Jordan, Iraq, and Syria, when the Americans are no longer there, the Iranians will have the possibility whenever they want to use the corridor to move militiamen from Iran, from wherever, shipments, anything they want, along the road into Syria instead of relying exclusively as they do now on sending cargo planes to Syria," he said. "Not a good picture." If You Had a Time Machine - Alf Cengia - http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8692 What if you had a Time Machine? A secular friend posed this question a few weeks ago. He asked, "What if you had a Time Machine, would you go forward or backward - and why?" The stipulation was that you could only view a single event. In the ensuing conversation, that stipulation was modified to a narrow period no longer than a week. As I reflect back to our conversation, it's interesting that as we discussed it further, the option of going forward in time wasn't really explored. I thought about that later. A curious technically-minded person might want to peek into the future to see how far science and technology would advance. Yet one might find something they don't like. What if you saw a post-apocalyptic world, and your country totally destroyed? What if you caught a glimpse of a totalitarian world where people like you were being summarily executed? Would you want to know? Do you think you could go back and change the future? On the other hand, there are practical reasons for going forward. You could pick a relatively "safe" period of time - perhaps a week or a month. You could then collect data which would be of economic advantage and become very rich! Interestingly enough, this idea didn't come up. Past events dominated the conversation. So let's talk about the past and let's assume we can't change it. But just in case, we'll introduce the stipulation that we can't meaningfully interact with the environment, only observe it. What One Period or Event in the past would you want to see? Remember that you can't watch Noah building the Ark and then fly off to watch Moses parting the Red Sea. You can't watch bits of the French Revolution then snoop forward to see who really killed President John F. Kennedy. You have a narrow time-frame. I can think of a vast array of past events a secular person might want to peek at, depending on their interests. Surprisingly, my secular friend chose the Nativity of Jesus Christ. I honed in on the week of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Later on, my friend agreed. While the nativity of Jesus is important, a secular or agnostic person will not see anything astounding there. But the Crucifixion and subsequent Resurrection of Jesus Christ are pivotal-critical events in the history of the redemption of man. For obvious reasons, even someone who is agnostic or an atheist ought to be curious about Passion Week. For more on this see The Final Days of Jesus by Andreas J. Köstenberger and Justin Taylor. Of course, language is important. It's no good hopping out of your Time Machine and finding you can't understand anyone. What language did Jesus speak? For the sake of the exercise let's just assume that the Time Machine grants you the ability to understand whatever is spoken at the time and place of your visitation. There are many amazing events in the Passion Week. Wouldn't you want to see Jesus enter Jerusalem on that donkey? Some of these interludes would be bitter-sweet. I'd love to see the fabulous Jewish Temple and listen to Christ's Olivet Discourse. Yet it would be frustrating not to be able to ask questions or for clarifications. "What did you really mean by that, Lord?" I don't know that I'd want to be present in the Garden of Gethsemane, or during Jesus' trial and subsequent torture. The Passion of the Christ movie overwhelmed me - the real event would be far starker. Yet I'd love to hear Jesus promise the thief that he would be in Paradise with Him that same night (Luke 23:43). Who wouldn't to see the look of joy in that dying thief's face? Or the expression of recognition on the Centurion's face! Along the same lines I'd like to see Peter when he suddenly realized that he'd denied his Master three times, as the Lord prophesied. Not because I'm better (I'm far worse than Peter at his worst) but because I'd love to see the contrast when Jesus restored him during that meal of fish. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will also come with you." John 21:3-17 "Do you love me, Peter?" "Do you love me, Alf?" I'd want to see the ripped Temple veil (Matt 27:51) after stumbling around in the dark and experiencing that earthquake. Most of all I'd want to be present at the rolling away of the stone, then watching the interactions between the angels and the first witnesses - especially Mary and the Lord! What about Emmaus! I've been on a few great hikes with my wife and Sammy (our Golden Retriever). I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I said the seven mile hike to Emmaus with Jesus and the two disciples would be my ultimate (Luke 24:13-32). And He said to them, "What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?" And they stood still, looking sad. One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?" And He said to them, "What things?" Luke 24:17-19 I wonder if the Lord had an amused expression. I sure would love to have seen the change in the disciples' faces - from sad consternation, to wonder and to heart-burning awe when they realized it was the Lord who had comforted them during their hike home. What a sermon that would've been! Of course, I'd want to climb into my Time Machine and experience Jesus' 40 days with the disciples, His Ascension, Pentecost, Phillip's sermon to the Eunuch and on and on... However, that would go beyond the parameters of this thought experiment. One day, when we're in heaven, we'll hear our favorite stories from a first-person perspective. In the meantime we have the Bible. It isn't just a Time Machine - it is a trustworthy record of the past and promise of the glorious future when our Lord returns. The Word of God gives us our Blessed Hope. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Rom 8:18 (See also Phil 4:20-21) Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 1 John 3:2 I'm looking forward to that! Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ yet? Isn't it about time you did? Olivet Discourse - Don't Become Vulture Food! - By John Keller - http://www.raptureready.com/2018/07/31/olivet-discourse-dont-become-vulture-food-john-keller/ Jesus's words in the Olivet Discourse (recorded in three of the four Gospels) are, to many "Pre-Trib" believers, strong evidence that there is a soon-coming Rapture of all true followers of Christ. Like many prophetic passages in the scriptures, there is an element of mystery in these verses, and that is precisely why not all Bible scholars agree on their true meaning. I believe, however, that in our day the Lord is making clear to those willing to delve into just what He was communicating regarding what would be going on just before His return for his bride, the Church. Although there are always those who would disagree, it is apparent that Jesus was clearly discussing in this discourse two different appearances He would be making at the end of the age: the first being the Rapture of the Church, and the second being His return marking the end of the Tribulation. His discussion of the Rapture is highlighted beginning at the 36th verse of the 24th chapter of Matthew, where he discusses how no one will know the day or hour of his appearance, and the earth's condition will be "business as usual," just as it was in the days of Noah before the flood. One area of confusion in this and other references to this discussion relates to His warnings (see Matthew, Chapter 24, verses 40-41 ) that, "Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left," and "Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left." Another reference to this discussion is contained in Luke 17: verses 22 through 37. In this latter recording, Jesus states that, "Two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left. 'Where Lord?' they (the disciples) asked. He replied, 'Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.'" The reason many get confused about the above passages is that, if in this portion of the Olivet Discourse the Lord is clearly talking about the pre-tribulation rapture, why would the people that are "taken" apparently end up being left behind and vulnerable to becoming dead bodies at the feet of vultures? Isn't the Rapture an event where the people taken are removed from earth to be "evermore with the Lord," and the people left behind are forced to remain and endure the ravages of the Tribulation? The clue to addressing this concern lies in Jesus's words wherein he discusses the plight of those lost in Noah's day. He explained that those not entering the ark did not know what was upon them "until the flood came and took them all away." (Matthew 24, verse 39.) Therefore, in the context of Jesus's discussion of the parallel between our day and the days of Noah, He is clearly using the word-picture of being "taken" to describe being left out of God's deliverance for those who know and serve Him - and not the departure of the Church from this planet to be with the Lord. It is interesting that Jesus also mentions during this "Pre-Trib Rapture" portion of the discourse, "Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it" (Luke 17:33). If during this time period when business is booming, people are marrying, and the planet is relatively at rest, why does He consider it important to emphasize a need we should have to preserve our lives? Is it possible He is not so much speaking about concerns we'd have regarding saving our physical lives from death, but rather cautioning us to be careful not to compromise our Christian faith and commitment in an effort to avoid missing out on living a life with abundant worldly rewards? Think of brothers and sisters in Christ who at this very hour, in our own country, are losing their livelihoods, their positions in society, along with the fellowship and respect of friends and family members solely because they refuse to bow to the gods of political correctness and laws and regulations that are contrary to their Christian beliefs. Are not these, for whom we feel sympathy when we read about them in today's news accounts, actually living in a manner worthy of preserving their lives despite the financial hardship and scorn they are willingly opening themselves up to? Is a day perhaps approaching when many of the rest of us will also have to choose between living life to its fullest (in a worldly sense), or sacrificing the treasures and joys of this life in order to please the Lord? Recognizing the reality that we are living in the very last of the last days before the Lord's return to rapture his Church should encourage all of us to believe that there is nothing this present life offers that surpasses the reward we'll receive if we choose to be totally committed and obedient to Him, regardless of the cost. Daily Jot: Socialism increasing in America - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com The Daily Caller reports, "Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) says it currently has 57 registered chapters on college campuses, according to Democratic Socialists of America Program Associate Lawrence Dreyfuss, up from just 15 in 2016. YDSA has experienced 280 percent increase in the number of clubs from 2016 to 2018." YSDA previously reported it had over 250 registered chapters, but Dreyfuss told the Daily Caller those 250 campuses initially expressed interest (they filled out a form), but in terms of establishing an active chapter, they wound up with 57. A 2016 Gallup Poll indicated that 55% of 18-29 year olds view socialism as positive. The Democratic Party leadership believes it's the "future of the party." This is a two-fold issue. First, that young people would embrace a form of government that resulted in the deaths of some 100 million people in the 20thcentury is an amazing phenomena for a free nation. Does anyone remember the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)? Apparently, America's youth do not. Second, the Christian church in America is not doing its job-if it were, our young people would understand that any form of communism (socialism, progressivism, communism, Marxism, even Nazism) is against God. The Communist Manifesto says, "...Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience." It also doesn't work economically. William Bradford described the Pilgrim's failed socialist experiment of The Virginia Company Charter in "Of Plymouth Plantation": "The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years and amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato's and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing, as if they were wiser than God." Bradford was familiar with Plato's "Republic" espousing a utopian society under socialism. In ending this experiment that nearly cost the colony their lives, Bradford wrote: "...God in his wisdom saw another course fitter for them." This was the first capitalist system and the Plymouth colony then prospered. Unfortunately, many Christians believe in socialism, citing Acts 2:44, "And all that believed were together and had (shared) all things in common." There is a tremendous difference between voluntarily sharing and being forced to share the fruits of your labor by the government. This is a far cry from the blessing of voluntarily sharing with others. . As Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3:13, "every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God." Responsible Capitalism is aligned with the Biblical principle that whatever you sow, you will also reap. The first commandment, Exodus 20:1 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." That includes government. Moreover, Bradford is still right. Man is not wiser than God. Young people would be wise to heed his advice. But they also must be taught why it's so dangerous. Daily Devotion: How to Add Life to Your Years - By Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. -John 10:10 I heard about a man who caught a cab at the airport. As they were cruising along, he had a question for the cabbie, so he leaned forward and tapped him on the shoulder. The driver let out a shriek and swerved across four lanes before he managed to regain his composure. "What was that all about?" asked the stunned passenger. "Sir, I'm very sorry," the driver explained. "I've been driving a hearse for 40 years, and this is my first day as a cabbie." As we get older, we start thinking about the afterlife more often. We know it's coming, and the reality of it grows stronger. We start losing friends and maybe even some family members. We know our day will come. Life seems to go so slow during childhood. I felt like I was in the third grade for twenty years. Now decades go by. The good news is that because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, we can live life to its fullest. We're told in Romans 8:11, "The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you" (NLT). When I was a young kid, I was wondering about the meaning of my life: Why am I here on this earth? Why am I so empty inside? I was searching. But at the age of 17, I heard the gospel in a way I could understand. I asked Jesus to come into my life. And I found the purpose I was looking for. Jesus gives us a life worth living. Medical science seeks to add years to your life, but Christ will add life to your years. FROM THE HEART
