Till the World Ends - Pete Garcia -
http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8693 No topic is as sought out, as picked over, and as intriguing as it is despised, as is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. No claim ever made was as audacious as was Christ's, because by boldly proclaiming that not only could death not hold Him, but that the whole earth would one day mourn at the sight of His return (Revelation 1:7). Think about it, either Jesus had serious delusions of grandeur, or He is who He says He is, God in the flesh. The humbled Servant, faithful to the point of death, who willingly allowed His creation to brutally beat, strip Him, mock Him and finally subject Him to a humiliating death by crucifixion, would one day return victoriously in the clouds with the armies of heaven behind Him (Phil. 2:8/Matt. 26:64). It did not make sense to His disciples, nor would not until after His resurrection. The paradoxical nature of God's methods (Isaiah 55:8) abounds in the man Christ Jesus. Not only in His Sermon on the Mount or parables, but also in His death, burial, resurrection and ascension. To live is Christ, to die is gain (Phil. 1:21). To save our life, we must lose it (Luke 17:33). To be first, we must be last (Matt. 20:16). Victory in what seemed defeat (Mark 15:32/1 Cor. 1:18). Longsuffering in what seems abandon. Justice in what seems silence (2 Peter 3:9). A persistent lie from the very pit of hell is that the cross was a setback and that we worship a defeated Savior. As the author of Hebrews appropriately notes, we should be...looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2). Without Christ's sacrifice on the cross, ALL would be lost. There was NO other way to reconcile fallen man, with a holy God. If anything, the cross demonstrates the lengths He will go to demonstrate His love for us, by sacrificing that which He holds most dear on our behalf. The cross was a down payment on His rightful inheritance (Psalm 2:7-9). We (the Church), are His prize. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7 As we look back to antiquity and wonder about our ancient history, the peoples of the millennium will do likewise. They will marvel at our struggles, and all the trials and tribulations the church underwent as we lived in a fallen age. They will marvel at the retelling of the very moment Christ tore open the sky and came back to earth in the absolute grandest, and most terrifying of fashion. Those who are born during this coming millennial reign, will hear of how Christ singlehandedly defeated all the armies of the world; how He threw the Antichrist and the False Prophet alive into the lake of fire. They will hear of Satan's binding in the abyss, not having experienced life in a world under his control. They will hear of the judgment of the nations, and marvel that there was a time when national Israel wasn't the center of the universe. Moreover, they will hear about the Rapture of the Church. The Rapture of the Church (1 Thess. 4:13/1 Cor. 15:51-55) will not only be the moment of our birth (into our glorified bodies-Romans 8:28-30), but will also serve to terraform the geopolitical landscape for that coming final week of years. World leaders today think they can use this crisis to their advantage, but in reality, God is simply removing the restraint (the Spirit indwelt Church) so that His plan can go forward (2 Thess. 2:7). That final week, Daniel's 70th, will be a time of unprecedented terror and sorrow, such as the world has never seen (Matt. 24:21-22). There has been seventy-three years since the world was at war, and even now, the nations of the world grow restless. The nations are like racehorses, violently snorting and stamping, impatiently waiting for the gates to swing open and the horn to blast so they can charge out. All the restless riders appear to be in place, and prophetic track with its soft unbroken earth, lay open before them, eagerly awaiting to swallow their hooves. The current world order is inadequate for what Satan has in mind, global domination, so he must capitalize on the next major crisis to align the nations as he sees fit. He knows it is the Rapture of the Church, but he does not know when. So leading up to that event, he needs the nations at a point where one man can assume total power. Not just political power, but economic, religious, and military power as well. Even now this man lives, and is quietly and unassumingly positioning himself to be at the right time and place. Whether he knows it or not, he is being groomed for this role as we speak. He is preparing for the singularity. The Singularity will not come in some glorious fashion where men evolve into the next big thing. Rather, the Singularity will be where one man assumes control over the entire planet (Rev. 13:7). He will not face the divine restraint the world is currently under, but instead, will have the full backing and authority from the god of this age (Luke 4:5-6, 2 Cor. 4:4). What the world leaders are waiting for now, they are not entirely sure; but they sense something coming, like one who smells the rain before the storm. There is an energy in the air, and the time seems ripe for transformation. The unbelieving and Christ-rejecting world thinks they are entering into the Age of Aquarius, but what they will get instead, is the age of antichrist. The age of antichrist will be filled with false signs and wonders. This age begins shortly after the Rapture of the Church, this where Christ triumphantly reclaims His bride (both the living and the dead) to Himself in the air. There, we will be paraded before the prince of the power of the air as a cherished prize, and we will go to be with the Lord forever. Once the church is removed from the earth, Satan will have to move quickly to consolidate all authority under this one man. He will be a god of fortresses, who understands dark sentences, blasphemes God, and will do all that he pleases (Dan. 8:23-25, 11:36-39). The world will marvel after the beast. While they will initially be brought into some apostate form of religion known as Mystery Babylon, ultimately, they will be instructed by the False Prophet to abandon their apostate devotion to her and instead, worship the man of lawlessness directly. He will have supernatural power, but not of his own, but from that of his benefactor, Satan. But in the midst of this global turmoil, will come judgments. One after another, unrelenting in their delivery, terror, and ferocity. Bunkers and caves will not save men. Great armies will not save men. Technology will not save men. Luxuries will not save men. In fact, the only salvation found in this final week of years, will come at great suffering and ultimately martyrdom, because that will mean you did not surrender to the lie and follow the beast and his false prophet (Rev. 13:7). If you did not follow the beast or his prophet, it is ONLY because God spares you from the delusion coming upon the earth in those days by way of death (2 Thess. 2:9-12). But as our days grow shorter, and twilight's shadowy reach keeps extending over the horizon of man's domain, we lose heart. We may marvel in our technology, yet, we cannot solve the riddle of our own hearts. The further we transgress down this path, the further we drift away from what saves us. For many even today, redemption is almost completely lost, as they have been given over to a debased mind (Rom. 1:28). They are unable to come to the knowledge of the truth as to be saved, but instead, trade eternal redemption for momentary pleasures. Even those momentary pleasures are fleeting and cannot feed the gaping hunger each of us feels when we are apart from our Creator. We were created in the image of God, and nothing but union back to Him through Jesus Christ will suffice. Nevertheless, our struggles remain oppressive and burdensome. Though at present they seem permanent, these afflictions are really only momentary. If you are reading this, you were chosen to live in these very days before our Lord's return. Our works and struggles are being reconciled to our own fullness of time, one which God has seen and set aside for us from before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). Each of us has a particular mission to accomplish at this particular point in time (Eph. 4:11-16). We are to let the light of Christ so shine in our lives, that others are drawn to its warmth and security. We are to do this until we fulfill our own roles. We are to do this until our world comes to its end, whether that end is our death and we go to be with the Lord, or at the glorious coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in the air for His Church. Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Hezbollah Closes In On Israel's Border As Last Syrian Rebel Groups Fall - By Yoav Limor - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=2456 The Syrian army is expected to complete its takeover of the country's southwest, near the border with Israel, in the next day or two, according to the Israel Defense Forces. This will allegedly restore a familiar situation, in which Syria's regime is once again stable, even if under the auspices of Russia. This would seem to be an ideal situation, especially if reality on the ground reverts to the one that existed before the civil war began in 2011, when Syria and Israel both adhered to the 1974 cease-fire agreement in full. This would restore peace and quiet to the Golan Heights, which could once again become Israel's most tranquil frontier. The key word here is "if." Unfortunately, the chances of this becoming reality are slim. The Syrian army may regain control on the ground, but it will not be the only armed presence near the border. Russia will be there, too, and its presence is both a blessing and a curse. The Russian presence--ostensibly meant to inspire restraint on all sides--will only be effective if Russia agrees to act on Israeli intelligence and thwart anti-Israeli incidents. But if the Russians prove to be a modern version of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, which sees no evil, hears no evil and speaks no evil, then Israel will find itself in a predicament, as its presence will make it difficult for Israel to act independently. Russia, however, is the easy part. The bigger problems are Iran and its proxy, Hezbollah. Iranian forces are unlikely to be able to reach the Syria-Israel border--Israel, Russia and even Syria, which would prefer not to be dragged into a conflict with Israel, will work to prevent that from happening. Israel insists on the complete removal of Iranian forces from Syria, which is unlikely to happen. The last Russian offer on that issue was to keep Iran 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the border. This can be used as a starting point for negotiations, but those will be exhausted sooner, rather than later. Hezbollah is a different story. The Iranian-backed Shiite terrorist group is already in Syria. Its operatives are fighting alongside the Syrian army and it has several hundred local villagers on its payroll, who engage in intelligence gathering. This was a strategic decision by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who wants to turn the Golan border into an active war zone with Israel. Hezbollah is likely to employ its familiar methods: joining local militias, importing its tactical abilities--anti-tank missiles, explosives and snipers--from Lebanon and importing troops. The first stage has already been completed, the second stage is in full swing and, unless Hezbollah is stopped, the third stage will become a reality in a few short years. Stopping Hezbollah in its tracks is Israel's main challenge and doing so will become exponentially more difficult once the Syrian civil war officially ends. Until now, Israel has been able to use the chaos north of the border to eliminate any risk from that direction, but once the war ends, any use of force would have to be justified to others. Legitimizing Israeli operations on this front is likely to become far more complex, and the risk for a security escalation will be greater. This will require Israel to use more carrots and sticks opposite everyone involved, as well as adamantly enforce its red lines. Israel will also soon end the humanitarian-aid campaign it has been carrying out on the border. The IDF hopes that the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force stationed in the buffer zone between Israel and Syria will be able to resume its operations in full, both lending a hand to the local Syrian population and providing them with an incentive not to back the anti-Israeli elements in the area. NWO and Quotes - By Daymond Duck - http://www.raptureready.com/2018/08/05/nwo-quotes-daymond-duck/ My last article noted that Pres. Donald Trump and Pres. Vladimir Putin have vowed to destroy the New World Order (NWO: the coming world government, world religion and global economic system). As expected, the EU (home of the coming Antichrist) quickly urged them not to do it. That hotbed of globalists loves the NWO. Understand that Pres. Donald Trump wants to Make America Great Again, and Pres. Vladimir Putin wants to Make Russia Great Again. The two leaders are in agreement that it is wrong for a small group of global elites to take over the three pillars of society (politics, religion and economics) and force everyone on earth to live by their rules. Pres. Trump and Pres. Putin believe the combined influence of their two nations might be able to stop the NWO, but the thought of their partnership is stressing out the global elites who own, control and influence much of the mainstream media and many globalist leaders. This may be why Pres. Trump and Pres. Putin are receiving so much criticism. But think about it. The NWO has now advanced to the point that the leaders of two of the most powerful nations on earth have agreed to band together to try to destroy it. It is possible that they may slow it down, but the Bible teaches that their efforts to destroy it will fail. Along this same path, the headline in a recent article reads, "The UN is demanding that Trump use American tax money to fund the 'Palestinians' despite most of the money going to pay murderous terrorists" (Jews News; July 28, 2018; Ben Ariel). Pres. Trump is not likely to let the UN tell him how to spend American tax money, but it is important to understand that the coming Antichrist and False Prophet will try to control all buying and selling. More along this same path, Pres. Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Change Accords, stopped contributing to the Green Climate Fund and UNICEF, reduced America's contributions to the WHO, and more. George Soros said he and others have spent decades creating the NWO and Pres. Trump is single-handedly destroying their plans. This supports the previous statement about the criticism that Pres. Trump is receiving. The global elites are incensed. I was recently privileged to attend the Lamb & Lion Ministries Prophecy Conference. It was one of the greatest conferences I have ever attended; and below you will find a few approximate statements some of the speakers made. I say approximate because some of the speakers talked faster than I can write. Dr. Robert Jeffress said, "One poll found that 60% of evangelicals believe that there is more than one way to heaven." Bill Koenig said, "Fourteen things have to be in place for the Battle of Gog and Magog to take place, and all of them are here." Jan Markel called Bible prophecy "The message the church has compromised." Dr. Dave Reagan said, "Daniel wrote history in advance better than most historians have written about it as a past event." He said, "No one can make America again without God;" and he quoted Dr. Adrian Rogers: "The world is growing gloriously dark," and Jan Markel: "The world is not falling apart. The world is coming together." Pastor Billy Crone asked, "Don't you realize the Tribulation Period is coming and we are not going to stop it, but repentance in the church could delay it?" Rabbi Jonathan Cahn said, "Even if people don't know it, Satan knows Bible prophecy;" and he said, "If you have been wishing you could live in the end-times, congratulations, you are there." Prophecy Plus Ministries, Inc. Daymond & Rachel Duck [email protected] Evil as Evidence for God - Lee Strobel - www.biblegateway.com I like to refer to Peter Kreeft as "the un-philosopher." Not that he isn't a philosopher; in fact, he's a first-rate philosophical thinker, with a doctorate from Fordham University, postgraduate study at Yale University, and thirty-eight years of experience as a philosophy professor at Villanova University and (since 1965) Boston College. He has taught such courses as metaphysics, ethics, mysticism, sexuality, and Oriental, Greek, medieval, and contemporary philosophy, earning such honors as the Woodrow Wilson and Yale-Sterling fellowships. What drew me to Kreeft was his insightful book about suffering, in which he skillfully weaves a journey of discovery through Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle; through Augustine, Kierkegaard, and Dostoyevski; through Star Trek, The Velveteen Rabbit, and Hamlet; and through Moses, Job, and Jeremiah. All along the way, there are clues that eventually, ultimately, finally, converge on Jesus and the tears of God. I arrived early and waited for Kreeft in the hallway. He soon arrived fresh from a philosophical conclave that was being held elsewhere in Boston. His brown tweed jacket, thick glasses, and neatly combed dark gray hair gave him a fatherly appearance. He sat behind his desk (under a sign that said, "No Dumping"), and we started by casually chatting about his beloved Boston Red Sox - an appropriate subject at the time given our topic of suffering. But then I turned a corner. There was no other approach than to hit Kreeft head-on with Charles Templeton's blunt objections to Christianity, embodied by that Life magazine photo of an anguished mother clutching her dead infant in drought-ravaged Africa. "Consider this," Kreeft said. "If Templeton is right in responding to these events with outrage, that presupposes there really is a difference between good and evil. The fact that he's using the standard of good to judge evil - the fact that he's saying quite rightly that this horrible suffering isn't what ought to be - means that he has a notion of what ought to be; that this notion corresponds to something real; and that there is, therefore, a reality called the Supreme Good. Well, that's another name for God." That sounded suspiciously like philosophical sleight of hand. Warily, I summarized Kreeft's point to see if I understood it. "You mean that unintentionally Templeton may be testifying to the reality of God because by recognizing evil he's assuming there's an objective standard on which it's based?" "Right. If I give one student a ninety and another an eighty, that presupposes that one hundred is a real standard. And my point is this: if there is no God, where did we get the standard of goodness by which we judge evil as evil? "What's more, as C. S. Lewis said, 'If the universe is so bad... how on earth did human beings ever come to attribute it to the activity of a wise and good Creator?' In other words, the very presence of these ideas in our minds - that is, the idea of evil, thus of goodness and of God as the origin and standard of goodness - needs to be accounted for." An interesting counter-punch, I mused. "Are there any other ways in which you believe evil works against atheism?" I asked. "Yes, there are," he replied. "If there is no Creator and therefore no moment of creation, then everything is the result of evolution. If there was no beginning or first cause, then the universe must have always existed. That means the universe has been evolving for an infinite period of time - and, by now, everything should already be perfect. There would have been plenty of time for evolution to have finished and evil to have been vanquished. But there still is evil and suffering and imperfection - and that proves the atheist wrong about the universe." "Then atheism," I said, "is an inadequate answer to the problem of evil?" "It's an easy answer - maybe, if I may use the word, a cheap answer," he said. "Atheism is cheap on people, because it snobbishly says nine out of ten people through history have been wrong about God and have had a lie at the core of their hearts. "Think about that. How is it possible that over ninety percent of all the human beings who have ever lived - usually in far more painful circumstances than we - could believe in God? The objective evidence, just looking at the balance of pleasure and suffering in the world, would not seem to justify believing in an absolutely good God. Yet this has been almost universally believed. "Are they all crazy? Well, I suppose you can believe that if you're a bit of an elitist. But maybe, like Leo Tolstoy, we have to learn from the peasants. In his autobiography, he wrestles with the problem of evil. He saw life had more suffering than pleasure and more evil than good and was therefore apparently meaningless. He was so despairing that he was tempted to kill himself. He said he didn't know how he could endure. "Then he said, in effect, 'Wait a minute - most people do endure. Most people have a life that's harder than mine and yet they find it wonderful. How can they do that? Not with explanations, but with faith.' He learned from the peasants and found faith and hope. "So atheism treats people cheaply. Also, it robs death of meaning, and if death has no meaning, how can life ultimately have meaning? Atheism cheapens everything it touches - look at the results of communism, the most powerful form of atheism on earth. "And in the end, when the atheist dies and encounters God instead of the nothingness he had predicted, he'll recognize that atheism was a cheap answer because it refused the only thing that's not cheap - the God of infinite value." Daily Jot: AP coverage sympathizes with Antifa violence - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com People are always asking me how to discern whether a news story is biased, fake news or deceptive. An excellent example is an AP story by Andrew Selsky headlined, "Oregon Police Chief Orders Review of Use of Force at Protest." It is a story about how Portland Police Chief Danielle Outlaw is launching an investigation of Portland police. The police tried to prevent violence at a protest rally where Antifa, labor unions and democratic socialist groups mixed it up with free-speech advocates Patriot Prayer and Proud Boys. The Antifa crowd was ordered to disperse, but instead became aggressive, prompting a police riot response. The police are being accused of using excessive force. Now for the twist. The story makes out Patriot Prayer and Proud Boys as the "alt-right," Nazi, Trump-supporting extremists who were holding a protest, and the reasonable left-wing Antifa and democratic socialist groups showed up as the heroes to counter-protest these conservative threats to society. Selsky writes: "Saturday's incidents started with demonstrators aligned with Patriot Prayer and an affiliated group, the Proud Boys, gathering in a riverfront park. The Proud Boys has been characterized as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is "dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society."" But the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is itself extreme. The SPLC consistently has made news and raised money from anti-American leftists for its hate designations, even against mainstream Christian organizations. Remember SPLC was named the provocateur behind the 2012 shooting at the Washington, DC, office of the Family Research Council (FRC). Floyd Corkins confessed to the FBI that he intended to commit mass murder and was motivated by the so-called "Hate Map" on the SPLC website that listed FRC as a "hate group."The D.C. shooter, who in 2017 gunned down Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) and four others, was a Facebook fan of the SPLC. SPLC has equated numerous Christian ministries with the Ku Klux Klan and Neo-Nazis as hate groups because the ministries are pro-life and also support the Biblical definition of marriage between one man and one woman. Patriot Prayer's Facebook page appears to support free speech and religious freedom. The Proud Boys website is a bit edgy in its rhetoric against the neo-Marxist left-wing agenda. Both are pro-Trump. SPLC maintains on its website that these groups instigate violence against Antifa and others. Antifa and the democratic socialists, however, often start the violence under the pretense that they are standing against Nazism. The slant of the AP story is decidedly pro-Antifa, painting these Marxist anarchists as American patriots, disguising its bias by quoting SPLC, ACLU, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and Democratic Socialists of America. With whom do these groups align? That is one way of discerning the bias. As Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Daily Devotion: Just Do Your Part - By Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org "For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God." -Acts 20:27 My mother was married and divorced seven times, so I practically had a full-time ministry sharing the gospel with her husbands. She was married to a man named Bill when she died, and one day I received word that Bill was very sick and wasn't expected to live much longer. At the time I was on my way to the airport to preach somewhere, but then it occurred to me that Bill could die while I was away. The irony was that I was going to preach to people about Jesus, yet Bill needed Jesus very badly. I turned around and drove over to Bill's house. And the moment I walked in, I realized that he literally was at death's door. I went over the gospel with him one more time and said, "Bill, would you like to pray and ask Jesus into your life?" He had always been resistant to this, but this time he said yes. That day I left Bill's home thanking God. Then I caught my plane. The moment I landed, I got a text that said Bill had died. When it comes to sharing the gospel, do we really realize that eternity is at stake? We don't know how long people will live. And we don't know how long we will live. The apostle Paul, speaking to the elders of Ephesus, said, "Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God" (Acts 20:26-27 NKJV). Paul was saying, "I've done my part." Our job is proclamation. God's job, if you will, is conversion. Our job is sowing the seed. His job is reaping where it has been sown. Just do your part. FROM THE HEART
