Those without the mark won't be able to buy or sell anything (Revelation 13:17). For centuries, Christians have wondered how this will even be possible. But in recent years, the rise of advanced technology has given us a glimpse as to how it might occur. New technologies have driven endless speculation about what the mark will be. Some think it will be an implantable microchip. Others think it will be a visible tattoo. Still others think it will involve bar codes or RFID chips. And on and on. The fact is, we don't know. And it won't be known until the mark actually appears. However, we can know this - the technology is here to make such a mark possible. To control every buy and sell transaction in the world, the Antichrist will need to set up a system capable of tracking every transaction. And thanks to modern technology, we can easily envision such a system. Much of the foundation for one is in place. Electronic payments are already a way of life, and they foreshadow the coming of a cashless society. In fact, not only is a cashless society possible - it's inevitable. The Future of Cash For years, people have speculated as to how the Antichrist will exercise the immense power of Revelation 13:17. How will he control every buy and sell transaction? Many transactions, such as the buying and selling of illicit drugs, are already illegal. Yet despite this, black markets for these products thrive. People regularly buy and sell drugs and other illegal products "under the radar," where the government rarely sees, much less has the power to control, what's bought and sold. Cash is critical to these black markets. Almost everyone accepts cash as a form of payment, and it's hard to track where cash goes and what it's used for. But the ability to use cash to hide your activities, or simply remain anonymous, is coming to an end. Why? Because cash (currency and coins) will soon disappear. Don't doubt it. It's going to happen. And it has nothing to do with a government desire to get rid of cash. It's a foregone conclusion because cash will soon be worthless. That's right. If you hold on to your cash long enough, it will be worthless. Why do I say this? Because soon, the government will be unable to control the supply of cash. In the near future, counterfeiting will become impossible to prevent. Advanced technology ensures it. In a world of new technologies where every molecule can be perfectly positioned, it won't be possible to stop counterfeiters. They'll be able to create exact replicas of every national currency. And when that happens, the world will be flooded with fake money - worthless fake money. And since no one will be able to tell the difference between the fake cash and the real cash, both will be worthless. In such a world, the only way to prevent counterfeiting will be some form of electronic tracking of cash. An electronic means to verify the authenticity of a cash note. But if you're using electronic tracking devices within cash, why bother to make physical currency at all? Why not just make all transactions electronic? The Current Situation Essentially, that's what we're seeing now. The majority of buy and sell transactions are electronic. Think about your daily routine. Whether it's the coffee shop, the grocery store or Walmart, how do the people around you pay for what they're buying? If you take the time to look, I bet you'll see a lot of credit and debit cards - maybe even a mobile phone payment. According to a 2016 Gallup survey, only 24% of Americans make all or most of their payments with cash. And the younger you are, the less likely you are to use any cash. In the United States, cash is becoming obsolete. Nevertheless, according to MasterCard Advisors, 85% of global payments are still made with cash. How will the Antichrist be able to control those transactions? He'll be able to control them, because the situation will quickly change. Take India for example. In late 2016, the Indian government announced a crackdown on tax evasion, black market goods, and counterfeiting. All existing 500 and 1,000 rupee notes would soon become worthless. Citizens needed to exchange them within a short timeframe for new 500 and 2,000 rupee notes. The result? No one wanted to accept the old notes as payment, so electronic transactions skyrocketed. According to the Wall Street Journal, mobile wallet payments jumped 104% in India between October 2016 and February 2017. But while electronic payments are more efficient and convenient, they also create a problem. You can't hide them from the government. While this is good in some ways (catching criminals), it's terrible in others (government invasion of privacy). Without proper safeguards, governments will have the unprecedented power to monitor every buy and sell transaction you make. This is nothing new. For those of us who already use electronic payments for nearly everything, this is already the case. But in the future cashless society, you won't have a choice. Conclusion So why does any of this matter? Because at some point in the near future, the Antichrist will seize power. When he does, a global electronic payment system will already exist. While it remains to be seen how he will control every buy and sell transaction, the stage is being set. Convenience has already led to most transactions going electronic. And soon, new technologies will make all paper currency obsolete. This will eventually create a situation where a global government could monitor and control every economic transaction on earth. Such a system has never existed in the nearly 2,000 years since the book of Revelation said the Antichrist would control all buy and sell transactions (Revelation 13:17). In fact, such a system was impossible for all of those nearly 2,000 years. But today? Today it is different. We see the groundwork for such a system coming into place. It's yet another sign of the soon return of Jesus Christ. "We need them to tell us where the hell they are going," Husam Zomlot, the Palestine Liberation Organization envoy to Washington, said Thursday at a meeting in his office with reporters. "It's about time we hear it." Zomlot said a high-level US delegation comprising Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and his top adviser charged with Middle East peace; Jason Greenblatt, Trump's top international negotiator; and Dina Powell, a deputy national security adviser, would meet August 24 in Ramallah with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian negotiating team. The meeting will come toward the end of a tour in which the US officials also will meet with Israeli and other regional leaders, including from Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Zomlot said that for the Palestinian Authority, the preferred outcome remained a recommitment to the two-state solution. Trump retreated soon after assuming the presidency in January from a two-state outcome, which has been US policy since 2002. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had committed to a two-state solution in 2009, also has been silent since then about his commitment. A majority of Netanyahu's Cabinet opposes having two states. "A two-state solution has international equilibrium, it has regional backing and it has a global consensus," Zomlot said. "We are saying to them, we have a starting point, and letting go of this starting point is the worst thing they can do." Zomlot said the Palestinian Authority wanted two states based on the 1967 borders, and wanted to hear from the Trump administration how best to deal with factors that would endanger a peaceful outcome, including Jewish settlements, the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and religious tensions at Jerusalem's Temple Mount, which both Jews and Muslims claim as holy. "The how is crucial," he said. He said that in the wake of serious negotiations, "the Palestinian consensus government will be tasked with two things: the ending of the situation in Gaza - the unprecedented situation in Gaza - and as soon as possible the convening of Palestinian national elections." A major obstruction to advancing peace talks has been the absence of Palestinian Authority control in the Gaza Strip, where the Hamas terrorist group is the authority. Abbas and the Palestinian Authority, along with Israel, have been squeezing Gaza by reducing basic supplies to its Hamas rulers, including electricity. Zomlot would not say what the Palestinian Authority would do if the US delegation did not lay out an endgame, but said uncertainty could lead the PA to return to seeking international recognition for statehood - a posture that Israel and the United States adamantly oppose - or to further Palestinian resistance against Israel. He said the resistance would be "peaceful." Zomlot conveyed an overall positive impression of Trump and his negotiators, saying they had carefully considered Palestinian positions, and that Trump's commitment to an endgame rather than simply perpetuating the process was positive. "The character of President Trump himself - we believe this is a person who could actually take the leap, who could exert pressure on all sides," he said. Zomlot and the Palestinian Authority appear to be relying on pressure by Trump as a means of delivering Israel on the two-state solution. Zomlot made clear that he did not believe Netanyahu had the wherewithal to advance to final status negotiations on his own. "Netanyahu is behaving like a politician, not a statesman," he said of the prime minister's coalition maneuvering, in which he must deal with partners who oppose concessions. "Israel deserves better leadership." Zomlot expressed anger with Congress and the welter of proposed bills that would cut US assistance to the Palestinian Authority and otherwise penalize it. Chief among the measures is the Taylor Force Act, named for an American stabbed to death in a 2016 terrorist attack, which would link funding to the Palestinian areas to the cessation of PA payments to the families of Palestinians killed in or jailed for attacks on Israelis. He said the Palestinian Authority was ready to "revise and negotiate" its payment system, but would not submit to pressure. "Don't use financial pressure with us," he said. "It does not work." Iran's great game - http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Irans-great-game-502753 On Wednesday a report revealed that Iran is likely involved in building missile factories in northern Syria. Derived from satellite images taken from the EROS satellite, ImageSat International reported that "Syria is building missile factories with Iranian inspiration." The detailed images showed a valley full of buildings in Wadi Jahannam, east of the city of Baniyas. The buildings bear a resemblance to surface-to-surface missile factories in Iran. The complex is not small, but takes up several kilometers in a valley. The complex is also located close to other sensitive military sites including the Port of Tartus where Russia maintains a naval presence and Khmeimim Air Base near Latakia. The revelations about Iranian plans to build missiles in Syria only add a new layer of evidence to Iran's multipronged attempts to increase its power in the Middle East. The parliament in Tehran recently sought to increase funding for Iran's ballistic missile program by $260 million. A high level Israeli delegation of intelligence officials is reportedly leaving for Washington in the next weeks. This also ties into Hezbollah's missile build-up and the close ties between Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Mark Dubowitz, chief executive officer at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and Wisconsin Congressman Mike Gallagher recently detailed in The Wall Street Journal the extent of Iran's projects in Lebanon. "Buried more than 50 meters below ground and protected from aerial attack, these facilities could produce highly sophisticated rockets with ranges of more than 300 miles and equipped with advanced guidance systems." Dubowitz and Gallagher argue that in reaction to this, the US should make clear to the Lebanese government that it is violating UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which was supposed to make it so Lebanon was free of "any armed personnel, assets and weapons" not under government control. The US and European partners could also sanction Iran for using human shields in Lebanon, and sanction companies controlled by "military entities in charge of Iran's ballistic missile program." This would be a good start, but the deeper problem with Iran is that its involvement in Lebanon with Hezbollah is, like with the factory near Baniyas, only one layer of a complex attempt to gain hegemony in the Middle East. Iran is also reportedly sending warships to the Atlantic Ocean. It is deeply involved in Iraq, supporting the Hashd al-Shaabi Shia militias that are now part of the Iraqi government. It has played a key role in Syria supporting Bashar Assad. And Iran has less problems attracting foreign investment, especially from Europe, now that it is free from the sanctions imposed prior to the 2015 nuclear deal. Iran doesn't keep its policies secret either. Press TV, which is related to the regime in Tehran, headlined on Thursday that President Hassan Rouhani's "new pick for defense minister has underlined his resolve to further enhance ballistic missile capabilities." Brig.-Gen. Amir Hatami boasted that "in the next four years, apart from enhancing combat and defense capabilities, we will devote a special effort to boost missile and ballistic power, strategic air power as well as strategic maritime power and increase rapid reaction force." Iran's defense chiefs have also made frequent strategic visits abroad. In April the defense minister was in Moscow and on Wednesday, Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Baqeri flew to Ankara to meetings with defense officials. The larger picture also involves Iran's progress in filling the void left by the decline in Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. As ISIS is defeated, pro-Iranian proxies have filled the vacuum in the western deserts of Iraq and also in the swath of desert in Syria that leads to the Euphrates River. This would create a physical land-bridge from Tehran to the sea, a corridor of influence and power that is unprecedented. Hezbollah has threatened to use Shia Iraq fighters in the next war with Israel, and Israel is concerned that cease-fire agreements along the Golan have empowered Iran, the Syrian regime and Hezbollah. The reported visit by Israeli officials with their American counterparts should include attempts to get America's defense establishment on board with a plan to confront Iran in the region. This doesn't require reneging on the Iran nuclear deal, because the real Iranian threat today is through proxies and influence in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. It is essential that the defeat of ISIS be followed by a policy for dealing with Tehran. Prophecy Fulfilled: City of David 'Shakes Off the Dust' - Chris Mitchell - http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/israel/2017/march/prophecy-fulfilled-city-of-david-shakes-off-the-dust When people visit Jerusalem's Old City, they may believe it's the same place King David set up as his capital more than 3,000 years ago. But that's not exactly the case. Archaeologists are uncovering the original city and telling others its amazing story. Anarina Heymann serves as the outreach coordinator for the City of David. "Welcome to the City of David," Heymann told CBN News. "It's the home to the ancient biblical Jerusalem and up until 150 years ago, everybody thought that the ancient biblical Jerusalem lies within the confines of the Old City right behind you in the wall - within the walls there. So the question is what happened 150 years ago and where is the ancient biblical Jerusalem?" She then helped answer that question by explaining how the City of David lay hidden for nearly 2,000 years until a British archaeologist began a discovery that continues to this day. "Chris, we're standing at a magical place right now," Heymann continued. "This is the place when Charles Warren came through the fascia that he found. He saw something. And when Charles Warren saw this, he knew that he rediscovered the ancient biblical Jerusalem." Asked if this Warren's work was the beginning of the unveiling of the City of David in modern times, she responded, "Exactly because we're speaking of a 2,000 year period where nobody knew where the ancient city was. Most people thought when they - when they came - that what they saw in the Old City, that was ancient biblical Jerusalem. It's only when he found this that they discovered...the ancient Jerusalem lies outside of what we call today the Old City." The discovery of the tunnel system known as Warren's Shaft visually tells how King David captured the city and brings the Bible to life. "When we saw this, we suddenly saw exactly how the picture came together," Heymann continued. "And many times when we do excavations, we also don't know what we're looking at and then we have to go to the Bible and that starts explaining it. So it's the Bible and then the excavations and the excavations and the Bible coming together, giving us the full picture of ancient Jerusalem." Anointing Israel's Kings Further down, archaeologists found where men became kings. "Most of the kings of Israel were anointed where we're standing right now. We are standing at the place of anointing. And Isaiah says you will draw forth water with joy from the springs of salvation," she said. In fact, the City of David echoes with the people of the Bible. "Abraham, when he met Melchizedek, but then we get to David, to Solomon, we get to Isaiah when he was giving his prophecies on these very walls here," she said. "Jeremiah, afterwards, when he had to speak about the destruction that was looming over Jerusalem ... all those things happening exactly where we're standing right now." More than 10 years ago, archaeologists uncovered another biblical site, the Pool of Siloam, which was fed by the nearby Gihon Spring. It's the place where Jesus healed the blind man and also where the Jewish people would gather for the Feasts of the Lord. "Three times a year, all the men had to come to the mikvah (ritual bath) in the pool and from there get ready to go to Temple Mount and this is the walk, the final ascent, that all the pilgrims can do again when they come to Jerusalem," she explained. Heymann sees this final ascent as a merger between archaeology and prophecy. Opening a Door to the Future "Something amazing is happening because you see that we are now excavating this road and again prophecy is being fulfilled because it says in Isaiah 'build up, build up the road,' the highway. And it says remove the stones for my people's return," she said. One ongoing excavation is the tunnel leading from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple Mount. Heymann says it reveals the past and opens a door to the future. One of the City of David's most ambitious projects is an excavation called the Givati, where the entire history of Jerusalem is being revealed as if the rocks are crying out. "You can see exactly how she (Jerusalem) slowly disappeared from civilization because one city was built upon the other, and you could see how probably the city could have lost hope, thinking 'who's ever going to discover me again? Until God says, but in a time of favor, nothing can stop it and that's what we see in Giviti. Jerusalem is slowly being revealed," she said. She sees prophecy unfolding. "We're starting to see in the last decade, the blueprint. She's starting to share what she looked like to us again. So you can see how prophecy is speeding up as we go. It's said [Hebrew] 'shake off your dust, arise, take your rightful place, Jerusalem.' If you see the excavations here on a daily basis, you can see the buckets flying. You can see the dust literally flying about, how she's shaking off her dust." Heymann considers her role in the City of David a privilege. "I call myself the luckiest person in the world - the luckiest girl in the world - because I have the opportunity to take what we see here and tell the people about the City of David, about the ancient Jerusalem, and every person that is passionate about Jerusalem and serious about biblical prophecy needs to know this," she said. Broken Compass - By Thomas J. Miranda - http://www.raptureready.com/2017/08/17/broken-compass-thomas-j-miranda/ The magnetic compass is believed to have been invented about 206 B.C. by the Han Dynasty and later adopted by the Song Dynasty for navigation purposes. The compass was made from lodestone (leading stone) a magnetic material. A properly working compass is a necessary guide to lead one to the correct destination. I can recall movies of sailing ships where the helmsman sat out on the open deck and his only guide was a compass to lead him across an endless ocean. Another type of compass is our revered Constitution which has been our moral compass since 1776. This Constitution has guided America from Revolution to building the greatest nation on earth and is intended for a moral people...others need not apply. Today we are facing many forces which are designed to destroy the Constitution and our way of life. Where did this begin? In the period before World War II there was a patriotic fervor around the country that made Americans proud of their land and treasure. Religious schools allowed prayer and the opening of the day was witnessed the Pledge of Allegiance and/or prayer. The use of profanity in civil discourse was frowned upon and children would be punished for mentioning a curse word in public. Our movies were censored for foul language. An interesting problem occurred with the release of the movie, Gone with the Wind. The censors went wild over Clark Gable's comment, "Frankly dear, I don't give a damn." The language used in today's movies and TV plays borders on the obscene. How did we arrive at this low in moral degradation? People in the entertainment business continued to push back on the frontiers of decency. When people rejected the lowering of standards there were many who rose up to defend the filth and so the wall of decency kept moving backward. Meanwhile, our churches began to slip away from their charter of preaching salvation to getting involved in social issues, which is not the purpose of the clergy. Our politicians and social engineers added to our mess by passing legislation to further our decline. When Congress passed Brown v Board of Education, God was thrown out of our schools. This was a catalyst for removing God from so much of our daily discourse, that many times people are struck with awe at the mention of the name of God or Jesus Christ. Not to be overdone, Congress came through with another winner for Satan's side with the passage of Roe v Wade. This opened the floodgates to mass murder on the innocents. Word meanings were contorted so that murder now had a more polite name, "CHOICE!" To illustrate the folly of our depraved thinking, consider an event sponsored by the University of Notre Dame. The high priests at Notre Dame invited Mario the Pius (Governor Mario Cuomo) to address the students and faculty. The meeting was held in Stephan Center to an overflowing crowd. Mario the Pius spoke of the problem of Capital Punishment. He declared that Capital Punishment is murder but that abortion is a choice. The entire audience leapt to their feet in a roar of approval. This is the engine that drives us to lower levels of morality and disregard for human life. Since Roe v Wade was passed in 1973 there have been over 57,762,169 abortions and counting. This writer has calculated that if we stacked these innocents on top of each other, we would have a tower that would reach 5200 miles into the sky. What a remarkable monument to this current civilization! Another disheartening problem is the use of foul language is in our daily discourse. It is so disgusting to hear little children using language that was not permitted during the last century. Our public officials often use foul language routinely; a measure of our descent into the garbage pile of history. And what about bad behavior in high places? I can recall when a public official was required to leave office because of a divorce. The public would not tolerate this type of person in office. In recent years the American people have been cursed with national leaders of low moral character. Consider the sexual activity in the Kennedy Administration that was well covered up by the compliant press. Not to be outdone we were treated to the most lewd behavior of W. J. Clinton during his terms in the White House. How much damage did he do to our young people exposing them to perverted sexual behavior in the White House (the people's house). Imagine parents who had to explain to their children what was going on. Worse yet, where was the outcry from the clergy, the public and the legal professions to demand immediate removal of that monster from office? The press defended him at every turn. It is no wonder that we are in the precarious situation we now face! In the field of music youth are drowning in filthy lyrics that would make one want to throw up. Carlton Hesston attended a shareholders meeting in California where the members of the company board of the music provider sat upon the stage. He asked permission to address the board and proceeded to read, word for word, the lyrics of songs that were being fed to our youth. The words were so filthy that the members of the board looked at the floor in complete humiliation of the garbage they were feeding our youth. Another evil are video games which are pornographic. These are available to our youth at video centers. Imagine our youth with impressionable minds who carry with them the vivid messages in these videos that have an addictive effect like pornography? We are now facing two more examples of madness: The opioid crisis and the foolishness of legalizing the use of marijuana. States like California are soft on this evil. Recently, Colorado legalized the marketing of this product and they are now reaping the benefits of their folly. More crime, people driving under the influence and the politicians enjoying an expansion of the tax base are now showing the negative effects of their folly. Imagine a nation of citizen high on drugs? Such a nation will have a very short half-life. Historically this is not new. One only needs to go back to Genesis to learn of the origin of this perversion and subsequent events that has trailed mankind since the creation. The purveyors of this filth always lose. Unless America wakes up to this danger, we can expect the same punishment so vividly described in the Bible. An examination of Scripture would give us an idea where we are heading, and the consequences of a people allowing this nonsense to exist. Christians need to take a stand and fight this filth before it engulfs all of us. Our moral compass is broken and we are like ship without a rudder. No compass other than the moral compass of Jesus can save the ship. We need to fix our moral compass and change our course toward the high calling of Christ Jesus. A few years ago, I was teaching through the book of Joel when the ancient words of his prophecy came up off the page. I knew with hair-raising certainty that God's severe judgment was coming on America! I have taught Joel several times since. Each time has served to confirm with deep conviction that God is warning America of impending disaster and destruction. In light of Ezekiel 33:1-6 that commands a watchman to be faithful to warn others of the danger coming against the land, I feel compelled to issue the warning once again. The warning is triggered by the total solar eclipse of Aug. 21, 2017, nicknamed "America's Eclipse." For the first time in almost 100 years, a total solar eclipse will be seen from coast to coast in our nation. People are preparing to mark this significant event with viewing parties at exclusive prime sites. The celebratory nature regarding the eclipse brings to my mind the Babylonian King Belshazzar, who threw a drunken feast the night the Medes and Persians crept under the city gate. While Belshazzar and his friends partied, they were oblivious to the impending danger. Belshazzar wound up dead the next day, and the Babylonian empire was destroyed. Jewish rabbis have historically viewed solar eclipses as warnings from God to Gentile nations. Therefore, my perspective on the upcoming phenomenon is not celebratory. While no one can know for sure if judgment is coming on America, it does seem that God is signaling us about something. Time will tell what that something is. I can almost hear the tears in Joel's voice as he pleads for us to repent and return to God, because "Who knows? He might turn aside and relent, and He might leave behind a blessing" (Joel 2:14a). Regardless of whether or not the conjecture regarding America's eclipse is accurate, we know our nation and our world is in turmoil. Without doubt, this is the time for God's people to get right with God. To repent of our own sin. To share the gospel with our neighbors. And to pray that in the midst of His coming wrath, God would remember mercy (Hab. 3:2). Daily Jot: From the abundance of the heart - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com On Friday, August 11, liberals from across the country gathered at a Netroots Nation conference, which gave them a platform to criticize the President and his policies in front of the leftist media. Some of the rhetoric centered on the President's handling of North Korean situation. Congressman Keith Ellison, (D-MN), who is the first Muslim congressman elected to office and he is the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee said that communist dictator Kim Jong Un is acting more responsible that is President Donald Trump. He says that Trump should be backing down rather than standing up for America. Then, when pressed on it later, Ellison tried to say that he didn't mean what he said. The Daily Beast reported, that Ellison said, "You have this guy making bellicose threats against somebody else who has very little to lose over there. And what I'm telling you is once you start seeing missile launches, you're going to see-the time for cranking up the anti-war machine is right now. So if you don't want to get caught, deer-in-the-headlights, start calling for diplomacy in North Korea immediately." Ellison later retracted his remarks to The Washington Post, saying, "That was one of those I wish I'd not said. It's tailor-made for somebody to misuse." Ellison was referring to President Donald Trump's remarks that the US would rain down fire and fury on North Korea if it attacked Guam. Ellison and the Democrats are fearful that Trump will actually cause a nuclear attack with his rhetoric rather than show resolve that there will consequences of such a hideous act. The governor of Guam, however, had a different view. Governor Eddie Calvo backed Trump's warning in a Fox News interview last Wednesday night. He said, "As far as I'm concerned, as an American citizen, I want a president that says that if any nation such as North Korea attacks Guam, attacks Honolulu, attacks the West Coast, that they will be met with hell and fury." America had eight years of a "president" cowering in a corner and apologizing for everything the United States has done in its foreign policy. Then when a President stands up for America and says if North Korea acts on its threats, they will essentially be destroyed, all the weak-kneed, anti-American appeasement crowd starts fear-mongering. Ellison saying that a North Korean communist dictator is acting more responsibly than the American President shows just where Ellison and his political Party stand. As Jesus said in Luke 6:45, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!" -Romans 10:14-15 From the original Greek, we could translate the final question in Romans 10:14 as, "How shall they hear without one preaching?" The Phillips translation puts it this way, "How can they hear unless someone proclaims Him?" Therefore, we see the emphasis is not on a preacher, but on preaching. We may think the work of evangelism is only for those who are called to be evangelists. Granted, there are people in the church whom God has raised up to be evangelists, and certainly, evangelism is not limited to those who preach to hundreds or thousands at a time. I have seen many individual believers who obviously have this gift. While it is true that some are called to be evangelists, it is also true that every Christian is called to evangelize. Many times, however, we avoid sharing our faith, deciding instead to just live it out, be a good witness, and leave the preaching to others. Yet in 1 Corinthians 1:21, it says, "For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." This does not mean that we need to scream, yell, and wave a Bible to get the point across. What it does mean is that we are to recognize the primary way God has chosen to reach the lost is through the proclamation of the gospel-by people. God has chosen the agency of His proclaimed Word to bring people to salvation.
