True/Lies - Pete Garcia - http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8306
"We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." 1 John 5:19 We now live in a day and age, in which more information is available to the average person than at any other point in human history. An entire library's worth of books could be downloaded onto a single hard drive. We could gain more information and understanding of human history in the course of an hour's study with Google than our predecessors could just a generation ago. Knowledge is weightless, yet has weight. Knowledge is formless, but can be accumulated. As one idea builds on another, we simply find ourselves as the generation of whom became the beneficiaries of millennia of human reasoning. But the real tragedy of living in this 'veritable' age of information is that truth is no longer seen in terms of absolutes but is now measured in degrees. The simple fact is, that truth is being suppressed at all levels by more agencies and forces than at any other point in human history. At a time when knowledge has become the most accessible and powerful commodity that man can possess, it is also the exact same time, when it has become the most dangerous. Knowledge is being aggressively censored politically, economically, geographically, religiously, historically, and educationally primarily because truth threatens to undo that thing which evil men seek...which is world domination. The lesson that these men (and women) have learned from history, is that bullets, bombs and armies might conquer the world for a moment, but it cannot hold it. Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, and Hitler all tried their best with their mighty forces, and when the leaders die or the threat wears off, the natives rise up. Military might is not indefinitely sustainable. Knowledge can be corrupted, thus negating all the gains made in whatever arena it might be engaged in. Economics change as currencies and financial systems evolve. But what those globalists who seek world domination have realized, is that none of these alone can accomplish the mission. They must be linked together and each, weaponized. These are; 1. Religious (ideological belief) 2. Governmental (both political and militaristic) 3. Economic (technologies, currency, and science) This is also exactly how the Scriptures record. One man rises up in a future system, who masterfully garners all three. Revelation 13 then records a governmental system which rises up, who then through political machinations, whittles their leadership down to one man. This one man has a religious ally, who first coalesces the world's religious into one ecumenical religious system, who then directs its worship to that one man. A totalitarian system of economics is also introduced, in which no transactions anywhere are allowed save that person has the mark of loyalty. The 'mark' could be the form of currency, or it could just be the system which allows for people to use their own currencies. Either way, if one didn't have the mark, they cannot buy or sell. Assessment "But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them." 2 Cor. 4:3-4 It is interesting that at the moments of greatest biblical revelation is exactly the same time when the world presses hardest against God's truth being revealed. The truth, in regards to the factual history of mankind and the creation of the universe can have only happened one way. The true narrative of history is not subjective in nature but is objective. In other words, history isn't opened to whatever interpretation we want to make of it because it only ever happened as it happened. And since there is only one true Narrator in this saga, God the Holy Spirit, it only makes sense that the Bible, which is a compilation of 66 books, written by 40 men over a period of 1,600 years, is both precisely accurate and inarguably cohesive in its design. From the time He first hovered over the waters before creation, God the Holy Spirit has moved through the earth revealing truth to mankind. When this occurs, revelation and understanding both opens the understanding of the believers and confounds the world in its wisdom. When this occurs, biblical mystery becomes unveiled and man begins to understand more about God's nature, their relationship to God, and the things that will happen in the future. But divine information is not unveiled all at once. Like the master tactician who lays enough information out there for the plan to move forward, but not enough that the enemy would be wise too, God has revealed His plan according to the Dispensations that man has found himself in. This would be why not everything was revealed to Adam. Or to Noah. Or to Moses. Or even to the Apostles. But when biblical truth becomes known, the demonic world scrambles to counteract the damage being done to their carefully woven, false narrative, they've laid to blind the world. 1st Century-the birth of Christianity had the pagan Romans and Jewish Sanhedrin oppose them 3rd Century-Gnosticism morphing into an ecumenical movement merging paganism with Christianity 7th Century-Explosion and expansion of Islam across the Middle East and Africa wiping out most of the Christian Middle East 8th - 15th Century-Dark Ages, biblical suppression by the Roman Catholic Church 20th-21st Century-Human secularism, pseudo-Christian movements, and New Ageism, and ecumenicalism Conclusion "By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world." 1 John 4:2-3 The world hates the Gospel of Jesus Christ and is desperate in its attempts to destroy, corrupt, or thwart the message any way it can. What boggles my mind is, if the Bible is true (it is), and the world and all therein has come from God (it has), then the biggest story of our day should be (it's not) that Jesus Christ came, died, and rose again, AND is coming back very soon. The world intelligentsia, media, military, scholars, skeptics, movers and shakers, have all pretty much relegated the return of Christ in the same category with UFO's, Bigfoot, and the Illuminati. The only time the Rapture or the return of Jesus Christ even makes the news these days, is if some cult or nut makes a claim for a specific day when He will return. Even then, they only note it so they can make fun of the belief altogether, when that day comes and goes. You can readily see how much trouble the world is in, with its burgeoning populations and the simple fact that, most of it is not Christian...at least in the Biblical sense. I've wondered how much longer God will allow the world to go, before returning. We often take 2 Peter 3:8-9 as meaning, God chooses to hold back as long as possible in order for some to repent. What if it's the other way around? What if the longer God waits, the less people come to the faith, (Luke 18:8), so out of His kindness and mercy, He speeds it up? Longsuffering then, is tempered with a number (Romans 11:25) that completes the age of the gentiles and ushers in that final week, in which God concludes His dealings with the nation of Israel. Jesus stated that Satan was a murderer from the beginning and the father of lies. He is not omnipotent, thus can't know the future any more than you or I could. But what he lacks in omniscience he makes up for in information. He is the fly on the wall in the secret meetings. He is the one whispering in men's ears to do evil deeds. He is a master of knowing what makes man tick. He has an overwhelming amount of authority, currently, in this world, and thus, has plunged the world into a web of lies and deceit. But it reminds me of something C.S. Lewis once wrote concerning the truth...a young man who wishes to remain a sound atheist cannot be too careful of his reading. For the world is jam packed full of evidence, all pointing to God. The world is jam packed full of historical evidence of the existence of Jesus of Nazareth. Philosophical, ethical, and moral truisms all point to the validity of the Christian faith as a belief system. In fact, the onus is not on the believer to prove that there is a God, but on the skeptic that there isn't. We've been so conditioned by the world to try and prove that what we believe is valid that we forget that if we really believed what we say we believed, we would no more need to prove that God exists than we need to prove that gravity exists. This is not to say we shouldn't study, or that we shouldn't make the argument, because some may be persuaded. But we ought not walk around thinking that the world is the way it should be...because it profoundly isn't. What we are living in today is the façade. The real world will come when the Lord Himself peels back the sky and He and His armies decimate the current rulers and Christ establishes His own eternal kingdom. That is the reality...so start living like it. (Myself included!) The apostolic church thought more about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ than about death and heaven. The early Christians were looking, not for a cleft in the ground called a grave but for a cleavage in the sky called Glory. ~Alexander MacLaren Maranatha! Obama hands Syria over to Putin - http://www.debka.com/article/25656/Obama-hands-Syria-over-to-Putin-
The Syrian cease-fire agreement that US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced Friday night, September 9, in Geneva hands Syrian affairs over to Russia's President Vladimir Putin and the country's military. The accord marked a sharp reversal for Washington. In his meeting with Putin in China last week, US President Barack Obama did not agree to those steps for the simple reason that such an agreement would be in line with the policy and stance of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, not those of the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump suggested several months ago that the US should let Putin finish the war in Syria, asserting that the Russian leader would be able to do it better. Under the current situation it is no wonder that Kerry and Lavrov agreed not to release the details of the agreement. Publication of the details would reveal that the rebels in the Aleppo area, and perhaps in all of Syria, have been abandoned. The Syrian rebels now find themselves trapped by both the Russian-Turkish agreement and the Russian-US agreement, with a noose seemingly closing around them. Meanwhile, on Friday, debkafile released the following report: The fledgling "initiatives" reverberating this week in Washington, Moscow, Ankara, Jerusalem and the G20 summit were nothing but distractions from the quiet deals struck by two lead players, Russia and Turkey to seize control of the region's affairs. Recep Tayyip Erdogan knew nothing would come of his offer on the G20 sidelines to US President Barack Obama to team up for a joint operation to evict ISIS from Raqqa. And, although Moscow was keen on hosting the first handshake in almost a decade between Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), neither were known to be ready for the last step toward a meeting. But the game-changing events to watch out for took place in Hangzhou without fanfare - namely, the Obama-Putin talks and the far more fruitful encounter between Putin and Erdogan. According to debkafile's intelligence and Mid East sources, Putin virtually shut the door on further cooperation with the United States in Syria. He highhandedly informed Obama that he now holds all the high cards for controlling the Syrian conflict, whereas Washington was just about out of the game. Putin picked up the last cards, our sources disclose, in a secret deal with Erdogan for Russian-Turkish collaboration in charting the next steps in the Middle East. The G20 therefore, instead of promoting new US-Russian understanding, gave the impetus to a new Russian-Turkish partnership. Erdogan raked in instant winnings: Before he left China, he had pocketed Putin's nod to grab a nice, 4,000-sq.km slice of northern Syria, as a "security zone" under the control of the Turkish army and air force, with Russian non-interference guaranteed. This Turkish zone would include the Syrian towns of Jarablus, Manjib, Azaz and Al-Bab. Ankara would reciprocate by withdrawing its support from the pro-US and pro-Saudi rebel groups fighting the Assad army and its allies in the area north of Aleppo. Turkey's concession gave Putin a selling-point to buy the Syrian ruler assent to Erdogan's project. Ankara's selling-point to the West was that the planned security zone would provide a safe haven for Syrian refugees and draw off some of the outflow perturbing Europe. It now turns out that, just as the Americans sold the Syrian Kurds down the river to Turkey (when Vice President Joe Biden last month ordered them to withdraw from their lands to the eastern bank of the Euphrates River or lose US support), so too are the Turks now dropping the Syrian rebels they supported in the mud by re-branding them as "terrorists." The head of this NATO nation has moreover gone behind America's back for a deal with the Russian ruler on how to proceed with the next steps of the Syrian conflict. Therefore, when US Secretary of State John Kerry met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Geneva Thursday and Friday, Sept. 8-9, for their sixth and seventh abortive sit-downs on the Syrian issue, there was not much left for them to discuss, aside from continuing to coordinate their air traffic over Syria and the eastern Mediterranean. Washington and Moscow are alike fearful of an accidental collision in the sky in the current inflammable state of relations between the two powers. As a gesture of warning, a Russian SU-25 fighter jet Tuesday, Sept 6, intercepted a US Navy P8 plane flying on an international route over the Black Sea. When the Russian jet came as close as 12 feet, the US pilots sent out emergency signals - in vain, because the Russian plane's transponder was switched off. The American plane ended up changing course. Amid these anomalies, Moscow pressed ahead with preparations to set up a meeting between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Thursday. Putin is keen to succeed where the Obama administration failed. John Kerry abandoned his last effort at peacemaking as a flop two years ago. But it is hard to see Netanyahu or Abu Mazen rushing to play along with the Russian leader's plan to demean the US president in the last months of his tenure - especially when no one can tell who will win the November 8 presidential election - Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump - or what policies either will pursue. All the region's actors will no doubt be watching closely to see how Turkey's "Russian track" plays out and how long the inveterate opportunists can hang together. Will Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalate in December? - Uri Savir - http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/09/israel-will-an-arm-intifada-break-out-in-december.html?utm_campaign=applenews&utm_medium=applenews&utm_source=apple
While rumors are floating in the media about a possible Abbas-Netanyahu summit in Moscow or Cairo, in reality, Israeli and Palestinian parties are preparing to consolidate their domestic hard-line positions in order to prepare for a period of deadlock and a possible wider outbreak of violence toward the end of 2016. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is interested in headlines on such a summit with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to protect himself from American and European pressure to advance the two-state solution and to stop settlement expansion. Under the cover of this upcoming summit, the Israeli government continues to build in the West Bank, undisturbed by the international community. At the same time, both the Israeli and Palestinian leaders are preoccupied with fortifying their internal coalitions. In the Palestinian camp, there are voices predicting outbreak of an armed intifada before the end of 2016. For now, Palestinian political energies in the West Bank are focused on the municipal elections slated for Oct. 8 this year, which were recently suspended under Palestinian court order. A senior PLO official in Ramallah told Al-Monitor on condition of anonymity that in the West Bank Fatah should have - when and if elections take place - the upper hand. The official noted that in the Gaza Strip, on the other hand, Fatah feared that Hamas will manipulate the results in its favor, despite the economic crisis. In addition, he alluded that a compromise between Abbas and his bitter enemy former Internal Security Chief Mohammed Dahlan might be in the making, as Al-Monitor has recently reported. In any case, the PLO official said that in 2016, Fatah will be focused on consolidating its power in the Palestinian Authority, as no two-state solution process is possible. In Israel, there is a mirror image. Netanyahu understands that, given the American transition, this is the time to fortify his right-wing base. His main vehicle for this, besides spreading rumors on an eventual meeting with Abbas, is to expand settlement construction and legalize settler outposts. On Aug. 31, the government decided, through the Israeli civil administration in the West Bank, to authorize additional settler units in the Jerusalem area, to retroactively legalize 178 settler units just outside the Green Line and to advance plans for a 234-housing unit project in the Elkana settlement. The US administration was dismayed by this decision. White House press secretary Josh Earnest expressed these sentiments by saying, "This significant expansion of settlement activity poses a serious and growing threat to the viability of a two-state solution." And so, the issue of retroactively legalizing illegal outposts erected by Israeli settlers is greatly distressing. It leaves the expansion of the settlements in the hands of the settlers. Both the Israelis and the Palestinians are using this period of international deadlock to consolidate the base of their political support in order to prepare for another year of political stalemate. By focusing on mutual hostilities (as a way of consolidating public support), both parties are most probably leaving the door wide open for the more violent extremist elements on both sides. The PLO official said that much like 1987, with the first intifada breaking out in December that year, "December 2016 could, given the desperation of Palestinian public opinion, witness the beginning of the third intifada." He analyzed this eventuality also from a more strategic political point of view. He, a well-known pragmatist who took part in previous peace negotiations, today believes that an armed intifada, led possibly by Abbas and Dahlan, could be the only way to awaken the international community and the next US administration to the necessity of Palestinian statehood. Concerning this Palestinian threat, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official noted that Israeli intelligence is aware of the growing tendency within Fatah to prepare for an armed intifada: "These are veiled threats. An intifada will quickly turn against Abbas and his corrupted regime," he argued. The Israeli strategy for the last part of 2016 is to emphasize to the United States and the European Union the rejectionist violent nature of the Abbas regime, to defend Israel's national and civilian interests in the West Bank, to curtail the assistance of international aid organizations whose finances are used to arm Hamas and to prepare for the American transition. And so, with none of the sides sincerely contemplating an initiative to break the diplomatic deadlock, the Israeli-Palestine horizon, even in the foreseeable future, is filled with dark clouds of possible violence. Israeli Victory Is the Only Way to Bring Peace - Greg Roman - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=634
At his first security briefing, Avigdor Liberman, Israel's Defense Minister, declared that Israel no longer has "the luxury of conducting drawn-out wars of attrition." 100 days into his term, with no sign of the decades-long conflict slowing, it is clear that the time has come to apply that principle to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. In order for there to be peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors, Israel must win and the Palestinians must lose. For most of human history, military victory ended wars. The Pax Romana, a period of 200 years of relative peace within the Roman Empire, began only when Augustus defeated Marc Antony in the Battle of Actium. When the North ravaged the South in the American Civil War, it caused the seemingly intractable conflict that claimed three quarters of a million lives over four years to fade away. The South, knowing it was defeated, never made trouble again. German and Japanese ill-will toward Western democracies in World War II rapidly dissipated, thanks to the bitter pill of defeat; friendship soon followed. Today's conventional wisdom holds that conflicts are best resolved through negotiation and compromise. But let's look at the facts. After 40 years of negotiations to reunite Cyprus, the island remains divided, and 60 years of standoff over the Korean peninsula have achieved little. In Syria, the killing continues unabated despite five years of talks to reconcile Sunnis and Alawites. And at the same time, years of diplomatic efforts to roll back Iran's nuclear program ended with the West's capitulation to Tehran's demands. The crux of the conflict is simple: Israel wants to survive; the Palestinian leadership wants to destroy it. Some Palestinian leaders make no secret of this. Hamas leaders' open incitement to violence spawned the so-called "stabbing intifada," and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas praises the Palestinian "martyrs" and names streets after them. Others talk peace but demand a Palestinian "right of return" to Israel, a requirement that would effectively eviscerate the Jewish state by allowing millions of Arabs of Palestinian descent to resettle permanently within Israel's borders. But no matter their angle, all Palestinian leaders preach hatred towards Israel. American policy has long been to prevent Israel from achieving a decisive military victory over its adversaries. In 1956, President Eisenhower forced Israel to abandon its territorial gains from the Suez Crisis. Similarly, following the 1967 Six Day War, the U.S. helped engineer a U.N. resolution calling on Israel to return unspecified "territories occupied" in the war. The Reagan administration stopped Israel from obliterating Yasser Arafat's PLO forces in Lebanon in 1982, and, most recently, the Obama administration pressured Israel to limit its objectives in its 2014 war with Hamas. These concessions, which are often unilateral and irreversible, include settlement freezes, prisoner releases and forfeiture of territory. Such policies deliver pernicious results; American "restraint" of Israel encourages its enemies to take risks. Much like government bailouts encourage banks to make high-risk, high-payoff investments by removing the consequences of failure, Israel's adversaries need not fret over irrevocable loss because they know the international community will admonish Israel for any gains it achieves. Moreover, restraining Israel legitimizes and nourishes Palestinian rejectionism, defined as the refusal to acknowledge Israeli sovereignty and right of Jews to live in their ancestral homeland. Because it knows there will be no consequences for its sophisticated propaganda war, the Palestinian Authority can continue to demonize Israel. "To become a normal people, one whose parents do not encourage their children to become suicide terrorists, Palestinian Arabs need to undergo the crucible of defeat," writes Middle East Forum President Daniel Pipes. When Israel has licensure, without American opprobrium, to unleash its military might after a Palestinian rocket or terror attack, as when Liberman ordered over 50 airstrikes on Hamas military infrastructure in Gaza in response to one rocket, the Palestinians retreat. The fear of crushing defeat is a potent weapon in neutralizing Palestinian resistance. America's handling of the Arab-Israeli conflict is preventing the kind of metamorphosis in Palestinian thinking about Israel that peace requires. It's time for Washington to allow Israel to demolish the Palestinian dream of a one-state solution, free of Jews. As Ronald Reagan said regarding the US fight against communism, the only way to "win is if they lose." This doesn't mean the U.S. should support a winner-take-all settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But we must dispense with the fallacy that Israel is only a concession or two away from an American-brokered diplomatic breakthrough. As Gen. Douglas MacArthur said famously, "there is no substitute for victory." Going, Going, Gone - By Daymond Duck - http://raptureready.com/featured/duck/dd244.html
When the auctioneer says "going . . . going . . . " buyers know that he is close to saying "gone" and the bidding will be over. The auctioned item will no longer be available. When the baseball announcer says "going . . . going . . . " fans know that he is close to saying "gone" and the chance to catch the ball will be over. The fielder will no longer be able to get the batter out. An atheist billionaire called George Soros has given millions of dollars to help Sen. Obama get elected to the office of Pres. of the U.S. A group called DCLeaks hacked into Mr. Soros' e-mail and found a 2014 document that they made available through Twitter. The section of DCLeaks' website that contained this information suddenly and mysteriously went offline. The document in question was prepared by Mr. Soros' Open Society Justice Initiative (part of his Open Society Foundation). It called for international (not U.S.) regulation of the Internet and favored treatment for Mr. Soros' Open Society groups (control of the Internet, but not Mr. Soros). It is now being reported that Mr. Obama is planning to give the Internet to the UN at midnight on Sept. 30, 2016. This will give Mr. Soros the international regulation he wants (or bought) from Sen. Obama and some say it will eventually end freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Pres. Obama denies that the Internet will be affected, but that can't be true if Mr. Soros gets the favored treatment he wants (or bought) for his Open Society groups. And what is the purpose of international regulation (international surveillance and control), if nothing is going to change? Here is the problem: The international regulation that Mr. Soros (and others including the UN, Russia, China, etc.) want could just as well be called censorship. They think the public knows too much. They want to stop anti-establishment or politically incorrect information on the Internet. They want to control who puts information on the Internet and to shut down people and groups that are posting things they don't want the public to know. Like the atheistic Mr. Soros, they want favoritism for their views and censorship for anyone who disagrees with them. Information that supports world government, world religion, open borders, global warming, gun control, abortion, same-sex marriage, LGBT rights, etc. will be allowed, but information that goes against these things will be called "hate speech," "Islamophobia," "homophobia," etc. and it will not be allowed. Among other things, this is the one-world religion and the persecution of believers shaping up. It is atheistic control over what pastors and ministries can put on (or find on) the Internet. It is freedom of speech and freedom of religion going . . . going . . . gone on Sept. 30, 2016. Lest some think people wouldn't censor the Internet, let's quickly consider some things that have been in the news in just the last few days. Google is blocking some of the searches for information on Hillary's health. YouTube (owned by Google) has new rules to punish those that make anti-establishment or politically incorrect statements. CNN is editing out the word "crooked" when it reports on Donald Trump's tweets about crooked Hillary. John Kerry recently said the media should stop reporting on terrorist attacks so the public won't know what is going on. The leaked Soros e-mails tied him to the dismissal of Glen Beck from Fox News and the dismissal of Pat Buchanan from MSNBC. It is only a matter of time until Christians may not be able to get (or post) reliable information on the Internet, but atheists will. If Soros had the ability to get Beck and Buchanan fired, he has the ability to get other major media reporters fired. This means the major media news programs will also be unreliable. Many Christian TV programs will have to become "politically correct" or they will be shut down. The truth will no longer be available. People will believe lies. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion is going . . . going . . . Prophecy Plus Ministries Daymond & Rachel Duck [email protected]
My Review of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Over the last 35 years, I have literally read hundreds of books on Bible Prophecy and End Time signs. I especially enjoy books on the Rapture, and I have read almost every Rapture-related book published. In all those years, devouring thousands of pages, and millions of words, I have not read a better book on the Rapture than, Rapture Ready...Or Not? Terry James might be physically blind, but he is spiritually sharp and well discerning beyond most authors. In "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Terry has nailed the pre-trib Rapture, and removed any doubt what so ever about the Church going through the Tribulation. With great insight and Godly discernment, Terry explains with simple, yet profound words, why and how that he has come to believe the ways he does about the Rapture, the Tribulation, and the End Times scenario. I think after reading "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" you too will believe as Terry does, and be Ready for the Rapture like never before! - Randy Thomas - Publisher / Editor - Prophecy Update For more information and or to get your copy of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" use this link: http://www.raptureready.com/terry/book35.html DISCLAIMER: We love Michael Snyder and appreciate his well-written and insightful articles, but we have to agree to disagree when it comes to his viewpoints concerning the Rapture and the Tribulation. We believe that the Bible clearly teaches that the Church will not go through the Great Tribulation, but will be Raptured prior to the beginning of this time of Jacob's Trouble. Tent Cities Full of Homeless People Are Booming in Cities All Over America as Poverty Spikes - By Michael Snyder - http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/tent-cities-full-of-homeless-people-are-booming-in-cities-all-over-america-as-poverty-spikes Just like during the last economic crisis, homeless encampments are popping up all over the nation as poverty grows at a very alarming rate. According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, more than half a million people are homeless in America right now, but that figure is increasing by the day. And it isn't just adults that we are talking about. It has been reported that that the number of homeless children in this country has risen by 60 percent since the last recession, and Poverty USA says that a total of 1.6 million children slept either in a homeless shelter or in some other form of emergency housing at some point last year. Yes, the stock market may have been experiencing a temporary boom for the last couple of years, but for those on the low end of the economic scale things have just continued to deteriorate. Tonight, countless numbers of homeless people will try to make it through another chilly night in large tent cities that have been established in the heart of major cities such as Seattle, Washington, D.C. and St. Louis. Homelessness has gotten so bad in California that the L.A. City Council has formally asked Governor Jerry Brown to officially declare a state of emergency. And in Portland the city has extended their "homeless emergency" for yet another year, and city officials are really struggling with how to deal with the booming tent cities that have sprung up... There have always been homeless people in Portland, but last summer Michelle Cardinal noticed a change outside her office doors. Almost overnight, it seemed, tents popped up in the park that runs like a green carpet past the offices of her national advertising business. She saw assaults, drug deals and prostitution. Every morning, she said, she cleaned human feces off the doorstep and picked up used needles. "It started in June and by July it was full-blown. The park was mobbed," she said. "We've got a problem here and the question is how we're going to deal with it." But of course it isn't just Portland that is experiencing this. The following list of major tent cities that have become so well-known and established that they have been given names comes from Wikipedia...
Most of the time, those that establish tent cities do not want to be discovered because local authorities have a nasty habit of shutting them down and forcing homeless people out of the area. For example, check out what just happened in Elkhart, Indiana... A group of homeless people in Elkhart has been asked to leave the place they call home. For the last time, residents of 'Tent City' packed up camp. City officials gave residents just over a month to vacate the wooded area; Wednesday being the last day to do so. The property has been on Mayor Tim Neese's radar since he took office in January, calling it both a safety and health hazard to its residents and nearby pedestrian traffic. "This has been their home but you can't live on public property," said Mayor Tim Neese, Elkhart. If they can't live on "public property", where are they supposed to go? They certainly can't live on somebody's "private property". This is the problem - people don't want to deal with the human feces, the needles, the crime and the other problems that homeless people often bring with them. So the instinct is often to kick them out and send them away. Unfortunately, that doesn't fix the problem. It just passes it on to someone else. As this new economic downturn continues to accelerate, our homelessness boom is going to spiral out of control. Pretty soon, there will be tent cities in virtually every community in America. In fact, there are people that are living comfortable middle class lifestyles right at this moment that will end up in tents. We saw this during the last economic crisis, and it will be even worse as this next one unfolds. Just like last time around, the signs that the middle class is really struggling can be subtle at first, but when you learn to take note of them you will notice that they are all around you. The following comes from an excellent article in the New York Post... Do you see grocery stores closing? Do you see other retailers, like clothing stores and department stores, going out of business? Are there shuttered storefronts along your Main Street shopping district, where you bought a tool from the hardware store or dropped off your dry cleaning or bought fruits and vegetables? Are you making as much money annually as you did 10 years ago? Do you see homes in neighborhoods becoming run down as the residents either were foreclosed upon, or the owner lost his or her job so he or she can't afford to cut the grass or paint the house? Did that same house where the Joneses once lived now become a rental property, where new people come to live every few months? Do you know one or two people who are looking for work? Maybe professionals, who you thought were safe in their jobs? Don't look down on those that are living in tents, because the truth is that many "middle class Americans" will ultimately end up joining them. The correct response to those that are hurting is love and compassion. We all need help at some point in our lives, and I know that I am certainly grateful to those that have given me a helping hand at various points along my journey. Sadly, hearts are growing cold all over the nation, and the weather is only going to get colder over the months ahead. Let us pray for health and safety for the hundreds of thousands of Americans that will be sleeping in tents and on the streets this winter. Daily Jot: 15 Years after 911 and the prophetic path of America - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
I am sitting in my office 15 years after the al Qaeda operatives ran two planes into the World Trade Center towers, one plane into the Pentagon, and another was downed in a Pennsylvania field before it could do more damage. The result, nearly 3,000 American citizens met an untimely and brutal death. And where are we today? We have lost thousands of lives conquering and "giving democracy" to people who hate us; We have spent trillions trying to root out the terrorists; our economy is in a shambles; we have elected a president who has favored the Islamists as they overthrew governments across the Middle East; we live in an ever increasing hostile environment; Islam is colonizing America. So who is winning? America is not mentioned in the Bible. There is no such word, nor nation. A good portion of the Bible is prophetically aimed at the first coming of the Messiah, his life, death and resurrection for the propitiation of our sins, and his second coming in the "Last Day," the "latter days," and "the end." I have often thought that America was a tremendous blessing, a beacon of the light of the Messiah, an evangelist to the world. Our time as a nation has served God's purpose. We have been a defender of Israel, a most valuable player in the Great Commission: "Go ye therefore and teach all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19)." "We the People" are about to choose yet another president. It is a choice to be made for the future of our nation if we try to align our voting with the candidate that best fits our Christian values. Keep in mind, anyone who says there is more than one way to heaven rejects the central doctrine of Christianity. Anyone who says "Jesus" is a great example to live by, but denies the deity of Christ, is not a Christian. Notwithstanding, we as a people need to exercise our right to vote. Otherwise we will not even begin to turn this nation around. Romans 12:21 says, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." There is, however, an interesting twist at play here. Because of the actions of America's leaders, Islam is advancing. There is not a more antichrist religion on earth than Islam. Islamic nations are the only ones specifically mentioned in the Bible as coming against Israel and God in the end times. Islam has cost America her wealth, her economy, her sons and daughters, and it continues to fight a decade long war of attrition, the casualties mounting economically, emotionally and spiritually. At the same time, our leaders have assisted the advance of Islam at every turn. While America is a great evangelizer of Christianity, it also has become a great accelerator of Islamic doctrine. In the 15 years after 9/11, America has been on a prophetic path, but it is not the perfect path. Daily Devotion: Why the Rapture Is Important - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org
Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. -1 Thessalonians 4:17 What exactly is the rapture? Mark Hitchcock, an excellent writer on all things prophetic, wrote this outstanding definition: "The rapture of the church is that future event when Jesus Christ will descend from heaven to resurrect the bodies of departed believers and to transform and translate the bodies of living believers immediately into His glorious presence in a moment of time and then escort them to heaven to live with Him forever." That is very clearly stated, and it's exactly right. Some will protest and say, "Wait a second. You can't find the word rapture anywhere in the Bible." That all depends what kind of Bible you are reading. If you happen to read a Latin translation, you will find the word rapturo, which is the Latin translation of the original Greek word harpazo. This word is used thirteen times in the New Testament, including 1 Thessalonians 4:17, which says, "We who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." The word harpazo is translated "to take forcibly, to snatch, or to catch up." Why is it important to know about the rapture? As I have said before, Bible prophecy is not given to scare us but to prepare us. Paul tells the Thessalonians, "We want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope." Paul is reassuring them that there will be a reunion with loved ones who have died in the Lord. Better yet, when the rapture happens, we will also be united with Jesus. Knowing about the rapture brings us hope. That is why Paul's teaching on the rapture ends with the exhortation to "encourage each other with these words." FROM THE HEART
