"For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing off their hooves. Woe to the worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely withered, his right eye totally blinded!" (Zechariah 11:16-17) One of the things about reading history is that after a while all the pieces start to fit together. A point is reached where you begin to understand enough about large, complex events and when that happens their subsequent relationships to other things start to become obvious. Adolf Hitler was much more than the modern perception of a frenzied madman. He was a charismatic politician who was brilliant at articulating the fears and desires of the German people. When people bring to mind Hitler today they picture a shouting, belligerent, aggressive and unhinged man as he was at the end of his life in 1945. It is true that Hitler was scarcely rational at the end, but that is not the whole picture. Hitler was not a lunatic from start to finish. He did not hypnotize millions of Germans to do things against their best interests, many followed him willingly. A large number of the German elite - civilized and well educated people, followed Hitler because he was an extremely sophisticated, if thoroughly unscrupulous, man. Hitler enjoyed genuine support. Many who met and worked with him talk of how he had an incredible and infectious charisma. Albert Speer, chief architect of the German Reich, described how when listening to Hitler he felt, "...I was carried away on the wave of enthusiasm which, one could almost feel this physically, bore the speaker along from sentence to sentence...Hitler no longer seemed to be speaking to convince...he seemed to feel that he was expressing what the audience, now transformed into a single mass, expected from him." Fridolin von Spaun met Hitler during a dinner in the early 1930's. As Hitler stared at Spaum he describes how he felt Hitler was, "...staring into his innermost self..." When Hitler stood behind him in conversation, touching the back of his chair he describes, "...a trembling from his fingers penetrated me. I actually felt it. But not a nervous trembling. Rather I felt this: this man, this body, is only the tool for implementing a big, all powerful will here on earth..." This type of testimony is repeated over and over again from Hitler's earliest year's right through to his eventual acquisition of power. The German nation really rather liked him, and at the same time had completely failed to recognize that the most obvious manifestation of antichrist for over a thousand years was right there amongst them, in their midst. Yet despite this, a truth of history is that no dictator ever comes to power through the strength of their own will alone. Even Adolf Hitler, despite his remarkable skills of oratory and charisma did not ascend to power in Germany because of his unique abilities and simply by the strength of his own will. Hitler rose to power, as every other dictator does in democracies they take over, through chaos. Hitler exploited chaos to acquire power. In 1928 the Nazi's were going nowhere fast, with only 4 percent of the popular vote. Yet despite this, just four short years later, Hitler sat enthroned as the single most powerful man in Germany. By 1934 Hitler had become the Fuhrer of all Germany and this sophisticated, church going nation was put on an immovable path towards total war and eventual destruction. So what changed the situation for Hitler? It was the 1929 the Stock Market Crash that brought chaos to Germany, and Hitler exploited it well. Dictatorships are often unexpected and arise, primarily, from chaos. Adolf Hitler and Germany provide us with one of the most dramatic and stark examples. The lessons for our own time are ominous. When Hitler rose to absolute power he was assuming control of an educated, culturally sophisticated and prosperous nation; the Germans were a people who genuinely believed they were safe from the threat of dictatorship or an authoritarian takeover. Much like the people of Europe and America today. All it took for Germany to fall under the yoke of totalitarianism was the hardship caused by a financial collapse. Germany at the turn of the twentieth century was widely believed to have one of the best education systems in the world. In part, it was this education system that many believed would inoculate them from the barbarism of dictatorship. They were wrong. Germany had kindergartens for all, a well-developed secondary school system and universities that were the envy of Europe and the world. Germany provided full scholarships for the poor with academic ability and real value was placed on a good education. Yet this highly sophisticated and well educated nation turned quickly from sense to madness because chaos and the desperation it caused drove them into a madman's open arms. Adolf Hitler, prodigiously gifted and charismatic, colossally immoral and driven exclusively by his lust for power and his demonic hatred for Jews, became their savior. There is a time coming soon when another man, like Hitler, also with exceptional dark charisma, will step forward and enrapture the world. Like Hitler, he will enjoy immense success. He will be a man unique to human history. Other than Jesus Christ himself, this man will be the second most exceptional human being to have ever walked this earth. I believe he is alive and well this very day. He will be more successful than anybody before him in deceiving the entire world. Many will come to believe that he is actually worthy of worship. Scripture tells us that the worship of him will not be enforced either, but voluntary at first, as a reaction to the signs and wonders he will perform and the temporary peace he will bring to a war ravaged world. So dire will the world wide situation be at that point that the momentary peace he brings will mark him out as a man of exception, a man seemingly without equal. He will bring stability to this world for a time and he will give the real and tangible leadership it desperately craves. "Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel" (Ezekiel 28:3). Just like Hitler before him, he will bring answers and seemingly real solutions to the multitude of crises that are already besetting mankind. The world will love him for it. His power and his political, military and religious genius will be unrivalled. We should be under no illusions about this man, he will a superman. He will be perceived as such by the masses and his actions in a volatile and chaotic world will very much back this up. This man to come, this abomination, will possess extraordinary intelligence, more than Daniel, more intelligent even than King Solomon. He will use this great wisdom and understanding for the acquisition of his own power, wealth and glory, "With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures" (Ezekiel 28:4). His earthly power, for a time, will be complete. He will crush the nations of the earth to his own will, just as Hitler crushed Germany to his own dark ambitions. He will lead this world down the road of annihilation. We must also understand something important about this man. Like Hitler before him, the sheer power he will have to influence people will be without precedent. The Dragon gives this man his seat of power and all of his authority, and it is substantial. "...the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved...." (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). At this point in 2016, the stage would seem to be set, the audience is already seated and the cast members appear ready to make their entrance. All that is now required is for the curtain to rise so that matters can get underway. But first must come the chaos and before the chaos must come a point of crisis. This world is rapidly approaching an event horizon in human history; a point of no return after which all things will be irrevocably different. Like Germany in the late 1920s, the lurch into dictatorship will not happen before real crisis and a subsequent collapse. In 2016, the signs of this coming chaos are all around us, and they are burgeoning. In every direction one might choose to look, potential disaster is lurking. From North Korea conducting renewed nuclear tests, to Iran who are on the brink of a nuclear breakout themselves and who continue to threaten the existence of Israel. From Russia, who have successfully invaded the Middle East, and who have brought their allies Iran and Turkey with them, to the South China Seas, where Chinese naval vessels have been put onto "war footing" for a potential confrontation with the "imperialist" U.S. navy patrolling international waters nearby. From the Ukraine and the Baltics, where genuine fear of renewed Russian invasions persist, to the diminishment of NATO as a realistic check and balance on Russian ambitions and power. From the proliferation of WMD's and ISIS attacks, to Germany, Poland and Belgium, who have all in the last week warned their civilian populations to stock up on significant quantities of food and water in preparation for an undefined and prolonged "national emergency and disaster event." What do they know that we do not? From the ever present and bubbling Israeli-Palestinian issue, to a world-wide economy so undermined at this point that a systemic failure is guaranteed in the near future. From Europe, which is being swamped by wave after wave of Syrian and Iraqi refugees that they cannot manage, let alone finically support, to the slow motion disintegration of the European Union, triggered by Brexit. We have witnessed the destruction of the traditional world-wide balance of power, a key aim of Barack Obama's Presidency, an impending crisis in international oil markets, the continuing debasement of the US dollar and the slow motion death of the petro-dollar. There is the growing crisis in Nigeria, in Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan. There is a President Hilary Clinton or a President Donald Trump, or neither. Who amongst us at this point would rule out the potential of an illegal power grab and possible third term for Barack Hussein Obama? He, after all, unlike Clinton is still healthy and there would appear no other likely Democratic candidates at this late stage should she be forced to withdraw... There is an increase in natural disasters and an exponential rise in both the frequency and intensity of earthquakes and volcanic activity all over the earth. There are mass animal die offs being reported daily as well as wild weather from England to America to the Middle East. Creation itself groans under the weight of sin and is breaking down. Soon the earth will reel and stagger as a drunkard, so great is the weight of its rebellion, (Isaiah 24:20). Wherever it comes from, whatever the spark, chaos is clearly coming. At this point I am convinced that it can only be the staying hand of the Holy Spirit Himself that prevents disaster from occurring right now. That staying hand of restraint, though, is clearly being lifted from this world, and evil is seeping into the vacuum that is left. I believe it will likely be the Rapture of the Church itself that will accompany the final removal of this hand of restraint. Then the flood gates will be opened and the Man of Sin will be revealed. He also will be prodigiously gifted and charismatic, colossally immoral and driven exclusively by his lust for power and his demonic hatred for Jews, God and His Son, Jesus. I have no doubt that somewhere this very day, this abomination of a man, whoever he is and wherever he finds himself, is watching, waiting and preparing for the curtain to rise. A Palestinian State Cometh: UN Secretary-General Calls for Imminent Action to Save The 'Two State Solution' - By Michael Snyder - http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/a-palestinian-state-cometh-un-secretary-general-calls-for-imminent-action-to-save-the-two-state-solution United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has harshly criticized Israeli settlements in the West Bank and is calling for urgent action to save "the two state solution". He insists that Israeli settlements in the West Bank "are illegal under international law" and he told reporters that the "occupation" of Palestinian-controlled territories "must end". These comments represent perhaps the strongest statements that any UN Secretary-General has ever made against Israel, and they come at a very ominous time. As I detailed just a few days ago, there is a major push to try to get some sort of UN Security Council resolution on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict before Barack Obama leaves office. As you will see below, this is something that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon obviously endorses. Those that are hoping for a "two state solution" know that fresh negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians are not likely to happen any time in the near future. So if the "peace process" is going to move forward, it is going to have to happen at the United Nations. Ban Ki-moon is among those that are desperate to try to save the "two state solution", and as the UN begins a new annual session this week he is urging imminent action. The following comes from the official UN website... United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today called for intensified efforts to encourage Israelis and Palestinians to take the difficult steps required to change the current destructive trajectory of the conflict, which is heading towards a "one-state reality" rather than a peaceful resolution. "Twenty-three years ago, almost to the day, the first Oslo Accord was signed between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization," the Secretary-General told the Security Council in a briefing on the situation in the Middle East. "Unfortunately, we are further than ever from its goals. The two-state solution is at risk of being replaced by a one-state reality of perpetual violence and occupation," he warned. Using the term "occupation" clearly shows which side of the fence Ban Ki-moon is on, and he went on to declare that the "occupation" of the West Bank by Israel "must end"... Turning to Israel's settlement activities, Mr. Ban said that in the past two weeks alone, plans were advanced for yet another 463 housing units in four settlements in Area C of the West Bank. Official Israeli data shows that the second quarter of 2016 had the highest number of construction starts in three years. "The decades-long policy that has settled more than 500,000 Israelis in Palestinian territory is diametrically opposed to the creation of a Palestinian state," he said. "Let me be absolutely clear: settlements are illegal under international law. The occupation, stifling and oppressive, must end," he said. Those that have followed Ban Ki-moon's career know that he is a relatively soft-spoken guy. To make these kinds of incendiary comments is basically his version of shouting from the rooftops. He appears to be obsessed with getting something done to formally establish a Palestinian state, and he knows that he realistically only has until January 20th, 2017 to accomplish his goal. As I mentioned above, a new UN annual session begins this week, and many are concerned that a UN Security Council resolution that sets the parameters for a Palestinian state will be on the agenda. The following is from a Wall Street Journal article that was published just a couple of days ago... The United Nations began its annual session this week, and Israel will be prominent on the agenda. Many fear the Security Council may consider a resolution setting definite territorial parameters, and a deadline, for the creation of a Palestinian state. President Obama has hinted that in the final months of his term, he may reverse the traditional U.S. policy of vetoing such resolutions. The General Assembly, meanwhile, is likely to act as the chorus in this drama, reciting its yearly litany of resolutions criticizing Israel. If such a UN Security Council resolution gets passed, it will be far more important than the outcome of the U.S. presidential election in November. The truth is that most Americans simply don't understand the importance of what is going on in the Middle East. In fact, one recent survey discovered that less than a third of all U.S. Millennials can find Israel on a map of the world... Less than one-third of US-educated millennials are able to identify Israel on a map, a new survey has found. According to the joint study - titled "What College-Aged Students Know About the World: A Survey on Global Literacy" - conducted by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and National Geographic, a mere 31 percent of respondents knew the location of Israel on a map of the Middle East. Can you believe that? How can our young people go to school year after year after year and not be able to point to Israel on a world map? That is inexcusable, and it is yet another example of how our system of education has become a complete and utter disgrace. And I was shocked to learn that UC Berkeley was actually going to have a college course about how to remove Jewish "colonialists" from "the land of Palestine". The following comes from the Jerusalem Post... This week I learned that beginning this year, the prestigious UC Berkeley will be offering a course on "settler colonialism" in Israel, meaning Jews as colonialists.* "Drawing upon literature on decolonization, [the course] will explore the possibilities of a decolonized Palestine." In other words, let's talk about how to eradicate Israel altogether. But not only the course facilitator will explore these possibilities, students will be required to "research, formulate, and present decolonial alternatives to the current situation." After criticism from the Jewish community, that course was canceled by UC Berkeley, but it still shows how anti-Semitism is on the rise in America. All over the country, the tiny nation of Israel provokes extremely strong emotional reactions. Most people either really love the Jewish people or they really hate them. And as the drama in the Middle East continues to unfold, support for Israel is going to become a major, major political issue in this nation. But the very next thing that we are watching for is a UN Security Council resolution formally establishing a Palestinian state and granting them East Jerusalem as their capital. Now that a new UN annual session has started, we are officially in the danger zone, and we will remain in the danger zone until the next president is inaugurated on January 20th, 2017. Let us hope that nothing happens between now and then, because such a resolution would be one of the worst things that Barack Obama could possibly do.

Responding to recent missiles from both Syria and Gaza, prime minister says country will not tolerate attacks Israel will not tolerate any missiles or mortars being fired from either Syria or from Gaza and will respond with disproportionate force, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Thursday, a day after projectiles were fired at Israel from across both frontiers. Speaking in the southern Israeli city of Netivot on Thursday evening, Netanyahu said that the country will not continue to absorb rocket fire "not from the north or from the south." "Anyone who thinks [of firing] a drizzle will receive a downpour," he said during a ceremony in the Gaza border city. "The response of the past weeks speaks for itself." On Wednesday, a mortar shell fired from Syria struck the northern Golan Heights. The projectile, the latest of a series of apparently errant rounds to hit Israel in recent days, exploded in an open field near Israel's border with Syria, causing no casualties or damage, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. It was the sixth such incident this week and came as fighting between President Bashar Assad's regime and the numerous rebel groups in southern Syria escalated in recent weeks. In response to the incidents, Israeli jets have targeted Syrian regime artillery batteries near the border several times, though there were no reports of any Israeli response in Syria Wednesday. The United Nations, Russia and others have called for Israel to show restraint and keep tensions from spiraling out of control. Later Wednesday night, a mortar shell fired from Gaza landed in an open field in the Eshkol region, causing no injury or damage. In response, Israeli jets struck three targets overnight, which belonged to the Hamas terror group, which rules the Strip. The strikes were all carried out in northern Gaza, according to an IDF statement. Israel is currently readying itself in case of all-out war. Beginning next week, the Home Front Command will kick off "Standing Firm," a preparedness drill which will include exercises to test the ability of the IDF and local governments to handle rocket attacks, terrorists infiltrating communities, electric grid failures and other emergency situations. On Tuesday morning, the Home Front Command will sound the rocket alert siren in cities around Israel at different times and then throughout the country at 7:05 p.m., except for the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. According to the army, some 230,000 rockets of various sizes and warhead capacities are currently aimed toward Israel from a host of enemies.

Ahead of nation-wide exercise, Home Front Command says 230,000 rockets are aimed at Israel, though only a few would cause carnage should conflict break out Hundreds of Israelis killed in thousands of rocket attacks - that is the army's Home Front Command's estimation for what to expect in the event of a future all-out war, according to figures released ahead of a nationwide preparedness drill set for next week. Beginning next week, the Home Front Command will kick off "Standing Firm," a preparedness drill which will include exercises to test the ability of the IDF and local governments to handle rocket attacks, terrorists infiltrating communities, electric grid failures and other emergency situations. Next Tuesday morning, the Home Front Command will sound the rocket alert siren in cities around Israel at different times and then throughout the country at 7:05 p.m., except for the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. According to the army, some 230,000 rockets of various sizes and warhead capacities are currently aimed toward Israel from a host of enemies. "If in the Second Lebanon War the record was 160 rockets in a day [fired] at the northern region, we need to expect up to 1,200 rockets in a day - it will be a completely different scenario from anything we've known," Maj. Gen. (res) Yitzhak Gershon, Home Front Command chief during the 2006 Second Lebanon War, said in an Army Radio interview earlier this summer. In the event of an all-out war in which rockets were fired from every border, between 250 and 400 civilians would likely be killed in the conflict, including dozens in the Tel Aviv area. However, the IDF did not elaborate on how long such a war would last or how these figures were estimated. "In the next war, we determined that a lot of missiles of varying sizes and types will fly at the Israeli home front. Some of them will hit residential areas," Brig. Gen. Dedi Simchi, chief of staff for the Home Front Command, warned in July. Tempering the bleak scenario, the army noted that most of the rockets would hit open fields and those that struck inside urban areas would likely cause little damage. According to the IDF, approximately 95 percent of the projectiles threatening Israel have a range of approximately 25 miles (45 kilometers) and contain just over 20 pounds (10 kilograms) of explosive material. These Grad rockets and mortars have limited accuracy, giving them just a one percent chance of hitting a populated area, and their limited explosive capacity means they would not cause extensive damage to any structures they hit. In addition, many of the projectiles heading toward residential zones, military bases and civil infrastructure should be intercepted by Israel's missile defense systems, notably the Iron Dome. The precision of Israel's rocket alert system has also improved tenfold since the Second Lebanon War in 2006, when Hezbollah rockets pounded northern Israel, causing dozens of deaths. Then, the country was divided into 25 alert zones; now, there are 250, Simchi said in July. Within a year, that number of alert zones should be closer to 3,000, according to the military. This accuracy means that individual neighborhoods or streets that are about to be hit by a projectile would hear a siren, instead of entire cities or regions, as has been the case in the past. However, that increased accuracy will come at a slight cost in speed. For instance, Tel Aviv residents have approximately a minute and a half to enter a bomb shelter after hearing a rocket alert siren. Under the new system, that time would go down to one minute, though the number of people who have to take cover would drop by two-thirds, officials told reporters.

The mainstream media barely mentioned it. They're preoccupied with the presidential campaigns. And besides, the United Nations Security Council has met before in emergency session to discuss North Korea -- and nothing happened. How was the emergency session on September 9 any different? It's true. North Korea and its weapons testing has been the subject of past UN Security Council meetings. And though official action has been adopted, nothing of any great consequence has ever resulted. But North Korea's most recent weapons testing is different for a couple of reasons. First, the nuclear devices NK exploded a few days ago were more powerful than anything they've tested before. Probably because the North Koreans claim to have developed hydrogen bombs. Second, it now appears that North Korea has achieved the capacity -- or will soon have it -- to mount these weapons on ballistic missiles. This point is critical because earlier in the same week, they also successfully launched three medium-range missiles. Those missiles traveled more than 600 miles. That puts South Korea, Japan, and parts of China within reach. Maybe that's why China acknowledged that the North Korean tests "shocked the world." To further complicate matters, just a few weeks ago, North Korea successfully launched submarine-based ballistic missiles. That puts every coastal city in the world at risk. And even though the left-leaning media tries to imply that North Korea is isolated from the world and poses no real threat, that's simply not true. Iran and NK have been partners in crime since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. And Pakistan furnished the expertise to help NK build the nuclear devices. Further, The Korea Times is reporting that last May North Korea and Cuba started holding talks to strengthen their friendship. What does this mean for the United States and the world? Well, North Korea is starving for cash (its people are literally starving), but they have weapons of mass destruction. And thanks to President Obama, Iran is newly flush with cash and desperate for those weapons of mass destruction. That's a marriage made in hell. But that's just one possibility. Under President Obama's leadership, the world has experienced the worst nuclear proliferation ever. Nations that had never pursued nuclear weapons before are now active customers in the nukes market. Japan and South Korea will probably start their own nuclear weapons programs as a deterrent to North Korea. Since the west has decided to allow Iran to join the nuclear club soon, other nations in the Middle East are actively shopping for places to purchase nuclear arsenals as a deterrent to the neighborhood bully. We're not just seeing a proliferation of these weapons, but an explosion of them. You know, this all started back in 1994 when then President Bill Clinton decided to humor North Korea and make his own toothless "nuclear deal" with them. They promptly accepted all the goodies from the US, then reneged on the deal and proceeded to develop their own weapons. Sound familiar? Foreign policy blunders live on well beyond the President who made them. But none of this surprises students of Bible prophecy. In several passages, the Bible depicts future events that are eerily (and accurately) descriptive of nuclear warfare. That's just another way we're seeing the whole world take the shape foretold by the ancient Bible prophets thousands of years ago. Other interesting things are happening in Asia, as well. The G-20 Summit was recently held in Hangzhou, China. President Obama attended, along with at least 19 other world leaders. But when he arrived aboard Air Force One, the Chinese hosts didn't bother to lay out the red carpet. They didn't even roll the mobile stairway up to the door of the President's plane. He was forced to exit the plane by the built-in rear stairwell. Further, on the tarmac, Chinese officials were rude to high-ranking members of the American delegation and some in the US press contingent. Not a nice way to treat your largest customer. But China is obviously piqued at the US or at President Obama. Probably because China wants to claim all of the South China Sea as its own and the rest of the world won't agree to it. Not the rest of the nations in the area. Not the United Nations. Not the World Court at The Hague. And especially not the United States. In fact, in March President Obama specifically warned Chinese leader Xi Jinping not to build military installations on the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, near the Philippines. But they're doing it anyway. So the United States and its allies have been sending warships into the international waters near China and warplanes to fly close to China's airspace. All in an effort to emphasize that these are international lanes of commerce and China is not going to claim them and control them. China isn't pleased. And they're not happy about President Obama's so-called "Asia Pivot." That means he sees America's future as aligned less with Europe and the Middle East and more with Asia. Partly because the markets there are growing so fast. And partly because we want to rein in Asia's growing menace -- China. Most observers believe that China refuses to stop North Korea from its madcap dash to nuclear capability so that it will continue to keep that part of the world off-balance and in turmoil. That distracts the rest of the world from the ferocious pace of China's drive to hegemony in Asia. Whatever is really happening there, it is definitely worth watching. China has enormous wealth and technical expertise. China is aggressive and often hostile. And China figures prominently in the Bible prophecies about the "Kings of the East" in the last days. As does Russia, of course. And it has gotten even more intriguing since my last program. See how quickly things are unfolding in the end-times scenario? Last week, we learned that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was on the KGB payroll in the 1980s. As was Russian President Vladimir Putin. Abbas's code name was "Mole." The information was discovered in a British archive of KGB agents from that period. Though the Palestinian Authority is trying to deny it, it makes sense. Abbas headed a Palestinian-Soviet friendship foundation during that time. And now that the US is turning away from involvement in the Middle East and focusing on Asia, many people are pushing for Russia to become the new broker for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. A Hollywood screenwriter couldn't construct this intricate a plot, but the Bible's ancient prophets did. And they did it thousands of years ago. Couple this bizarre turn of events with the alarming rise of antisemitism across Europe and into the Middle East and it's undeniable that the pace is quickening. Recently, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations noted that hatred of Jews and the demonization of Israel has reached "the highest level of our lifetimes." Again, just as the Bible predicted. Folks, if you have never accepted the forgiveness of sin that Jesus Christ purchased with His death on the cross, NOW is the time to do it. The race to the end is accelerating as never before. Time is short. It cannot be too long before Jesus will return to snatch away the true believers of this earth. You do not want to be left behind. In a report issued last week, the Chairman of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, Martin Castro, declared that the words "religious liberty" are merely a code for American bigotry. He said, "The phrases 'religious liberty' and 'religious freedom' will stand for nothing except hypocrisy so long as they remain code words for discrimination, intolerance, racism, sexism, homophobia, Islamophobia, Christian supremacy or any form of intolerance." He went on to blame the Christian faith for slavery and Jim Crow laws. Our nation's founders viewed the first amendment as the most important in the Bill of Rights. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press...." U.S. citizens stand heir to these remarkable words. They were assembled in an attempt to manifest in practical ways what both Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King called the "creed" of our nation - "...that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights." The Declaration set forth the concept of human dignity before God, and the Bill of Rights codified it into the bedrock of American law. Yet today the Bill of Rights is under assault on university campuses, in federal courts, and now at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The Commission is an official arm of the United States government. Congress created it in 1957, and reauthorized it several times. Their website says they are "an independent, bipartisan, fact-finding federal agency." Bipartisan? One of the 8 commissioners is a Republican, and another is a right-leaning Independent. The remaining 6 of 8 include 4 Democrats and 2 left-leaning Independents. The Commission's chairman, Martin Castro, is an Obama appointee. Most Americans view the phrases "religious liberty" and "religious freedom" as precious. But in the eyes of Chairman Castro, they stand for hypocrisy - mere code words for oppression. His attack on them shows the depths to which this nation has fallen in just the last few years. You have to wonder how someone so disoriented could rise to the Chairmanship of this important government entity. In some ways, though, the determination of the Commission as a whole may be even more troubling. The report that contained the Chairman Castro's attack on freedom of religion is called, "Peaceful Coexistence: Reconciling Nondiscrimination Principles with Civil Liberties." In that report, the Commission wrote, "Civil rights protections ensuring nondiscrimination, as embodied in the Constitution, laws, and policies, are of preeminent importance in American jurisprudence." They concluded, "Religious exemptions... significantly infringe upon these civil rights." How could the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights fail to recognize that religious freedom is not something that competes with civil rights, but is a major component of those rights? Because it is listed first in the Bill of Rights, "religious freedom" has long been known as the "First Freedom." In a rebuttal to the Commission's report, Commissioner Gail Heriot wrote, "By starting with an assertion that antidiscrimination laws are 'preeminent,' the Commission's analysis essentially begins with its conclusion. Why should anyone accept it?" The Commission also expressed concern when "religious institutions and organizations claim the freedom under constitutional and statutory law to choose leaders, members or employees according to the tenets of their faith, even if the choice would violate employment, disability, or other laws." This isn't even a matter of religious freedom. It's a matter of common sense. Should the NFL be required to hire a Public Relations person who believes football is a dangerous sport that should be outlawed? Should they be forced to hire someone to speak on their behalf who hates their sport? Of course not. To speak for the NFL, the person needs to be able to express the tenets of the NFL. So why should a religious organization be forced to hire an atheist? How long before the Catholic Church will be required to make women priests? They aren't required to do so now because of a "religious exemption." But the Commission officially states that "Religious exemptions... significantly infringe upon these civil rights." All institutions, including religious ones, are defined by their rules. Abolish the rules and you remove the distinctions that define the group, thus destroying it. On an international level, it's the equivalent of removing a nation's borders. Governments around the world seem intent on overwriting the rules of faith-based institutions, primarily Christianity. In this case, they are attacking Christians by saying that our beliefs in God's rules are really just a way to disguise our bigotry. It's another sad day of decline in America - just as the Bible prophets predicted about conditions of the last days just before Christ comes for Christians.

Those who seek to protect the life of the unborn received some good news this week: Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is naming a Pro-Life Coalition and is pledging to protect the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits government funding for abortions. This demonstrates leadership on the divisive issue of abortion as most campaigns distance themselves on controversy going into the last weeks of a campaign. Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will not duplicate the move because she ardently opposes any controls on abortion and seeks to use taxpayer money to support abortion provider Planned Parenthood and other government efforts that promote abortion. Politically, the Trump campaign wants pro-life Christians to get out to vote. Many have made the unwise decision to either not vote or to vote for a third party candidate that has no chance of winning. These people would boost Hillary Clinton's vote total and may be a decisive block in swaying the election toward a non-Christian agenda of selection of leftist Supreme Court judges and continuing the anti-Christian environment established by the current Administration. Trump is doing his best to assure Christians that he means what he says regarding religious freedom and the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness found in the Declaration of Independence. Clinton has been an extreme radical supporter of abortion. In accepting Planned Parenthood's endorsement in July, Clinton said, "I admire Margaret Sanger enormously. Her courage, her tenacity, her vision ... When I think about what she did all those years ago in Brooklyn, taking on archetypes, taking on attitudes and accusations flowing from all directions, I'm really in awe of her. There are a lot of lessons we can learn from her life, from the causes she launched and fought for and scarified for so greatly." Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, established the organization as an open supporter of Nazi sterilization laws, and proposed a federal law with abortion as the answer for Blacks who were "biologically unfit" and "should be so isolated as to prevent the perpetuation of their afflictions by breeding." Those who are pro-life have a clear choice in this election. There is a candidate who has pledged to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court and will protect tax money from being used for abortions. There is another candidate who has vowed to appoint pro-abortion judges to the Supreme Court and wants to use your tax money for the Planned Parenthood death clinics. She also "admires" and is in "awe" of one of the most racist bigots in American history who can be directly linked to the deaths of over 45 million American babies in the womb. Still want to sit this one out? Jeremiah 2:34 says, "Also on your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but plainly upon all these things." With what is at stake, I would not want to stand before my maker having not done all I could to prevent the extremist from prevailing.

But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. -Ephesians 5:13 When you lose something, you turn on the light. I am always losing things in my car. When my keys or wallet (or maybe a burrito!) drops between the seats, sometimes I have to get a flashlight out and search under the seats until I find it. Light exposes things. I heard a story of a drunk man who was down on his hands and knees under a streetlight looking for something. A stranger came up to him and asked what he was doing. He said, "I lost my wallet." "And you lost your wallet right here?" the stranger asked. "No," the drunken man said, "I lost it two blocks over, but there is no light there." Looking for something in the wrong place is not a good idea, is it? You need to look in the right place-and the right place to look when your marriage is facing problems is the Scriptures. Sometimes when a marriage is having troubles, the couple goes for counseling. I am for that-as long as it is biblical counseling. Counsel that originates from human thought and reasoning is not going to help. You must get counsel from the Word of God, for He is the One who created marriage. Here's something else to keep in mind. Just because a person says they are a Christian counselor doesn't necessarily mean they are giving biblical counsel. I have often heard advice from "Christian counselors" that is contradictory to what the Bible says. The true counsel of God comes from His written Word, the Bible. "But what if you don't agree with what the Bible says?" you ask. Simple answer: Change your opinion because the Bible is right and, if you don't agree with it, you are wrong. If you want a successful marriage, shine the light of God's Word on it.
