Superpower Showdown - By Matt Ward - http://raptureready.com/soap2/ward70.html
While the United States and the rest of the world are distracted by the ongoing machinations of an approaching U.S. election, Russia and America are edging ever closer to a direct military confrontation in Syria. With the brutal offensive in Eastern Aleppo as the backdrop, the potential for confrontation between these two old enemies is no longer a fantasy. In the corridors of Moscow and the Pentagon there is a growing sense that just such a military showdown between the two Cold War super powers is an inevitability at this point. The ramifications of such a confrontation, obviously, are huge. Up until now the United States and Russia have been actively opposing each other in Syria only through proxy groups, but that is now changing. Aleppo, the raging crux of dispute between Russia and the United States, is proving to be a tinder box that neither side can ignore. The road to this showdown began on September 17th, when American A-10 aircraft attacked and destroyed a Syrian army position, killing scores of Syrian soldiers. The U.S. attack on the Syrian position, at Jebel Tudar in the Deir ez-Zour region of eastern Syria is now widely seen by all parties as being intentional, despite initial U.S. claims that it was accidental. Immediately after this attack, President Barack Obama ordered a review of the decision making process so as to ascertain exactly from whom and where the order to initiate the strike had come. This action alone reveals that somewhere high up in the decision making structure there was a break down in the chain of command. Somebody in the Pentagon or the CIA ordered this strike without direct presidential authorization or command oversight. What is now widely accepted by all governments in the Middle East is that this strike was intentional, and was likely ordered to usurp the recently signed U.S.-Russian military cooperation deal. This deal, highly contentious and unpopular amongst both the upper echelons of the U.S. military and the CIA, is widely seen as a sell out to Russia. The terms of the deal would allow for significant intelligence sharing between Russia and America, thereby revealing key, and up to this point secret intelligence gathering methods and assets to an enemy state, Russia. This, it is believed, would jeopardize the ongoing and future national security of the United States. Thus somebody ordered the strike to scupper the deal. Russian retribution for the U.S. attack was swift. Two days later, on September 19th, the Russian air force annihilated a UN aid convoy on their way to deliver aid to besieged Aleppo. Many aid workers and civilians were either killed or critically injured in this attack. Russia, of course, denied all responsibility. Parallel to this attack, Russia, with renewed vigor and aggression, then launched an all-out attack on Aleppo with the aim of bringing the rebellion there finally to its knees. In the process war crimes have certainly been committed. The Russian bombing of Aleppo is without mercy and makes no distinction between rebel targets and innocent civilians. The Russians are crushing Aleppo to the ground. Barbarity reigns in southern Syria. John Kerry, so incensed by the indiscriminate nature of the bombings, has threatened to cut all bilateral U.S. - Russian ties unless the bombing stops immediately and a humanitarian corridor is opened up. This request has fallen on deaf ears because Russia are not listening to America anymore. The reasons why Putin has stopped listening to America are many and complicated, but fundamentally they boil down to two things; influence and prestige. Vladimir Putin seeks legitimacy for Russia as a great power once again. Putin also seeks to reestablish Russia as a great power with a truly global reach that could realistically challenge the U.S. dominated world order. Russian actions should be seen in this light. Maintaining the rule of Bashir al-Assad in Syria is intrinsic to Russian aims for the region and it would now seem that Russia have finally made the decision that it is more important to their long term strategic interests to crush the last vestiges of rebellion against Assad's rule in the larger cities, such as Aleppo, than it is to talk or listen to the United States. Russia will now settle for nothing less than a decisive victory in Syria, even if that means carpet bombing densely populated cities or obliterating hospitals in order to achieve it. All else is secondary to bringing this rebellion to its knees. This is a test for the United States and presents Barack Obama with a very difficult decision; effectively he can do only one of two things. He can acquiesce and let Russia and the Syrian air force bomb Aleppo and other cities back into the Stone Age (which would thereby give Syria to the Russian-Syria-Iranian axis) or he can oppose them. Obama and John Kerry have already been attempting, "to raise the costs for Assad and Moscow," at the United Nations. It has had no effect. Now other "non-diplomatic" options are being considered. These might take the form of more weapons deliveries to the moderate rebels with long-range artillery, which would then potentially be used against Syrian or Russian targets, or even direct U.S. strikes with cruise missiles against the regime's air assets and airfields. Any such actions, by definition would involve a direct face off with Russia and would come with considerable risk. Russia would likely try to intercept and shoot down any such U.S. missile strikes using its sophisticated and world leading S-300 or S-400 rocket interception platforms. From here it becomes entirely unpredictable; it is highly likely a rapid military escalation would take place. Putin himself seems to actively want a confrontation with America; he is seeking just such a show down. Such a standoff would be highly beneficial for Putin because it would legitimize him and establish his country once again as a leading member of the international community of nations and give him, at the very least, direct parity with America. However, there is more at stake here than merely Syria. The outcome of this showdown will determine the future of the not just the Middle East region, but will also provide an indicator for potential future Russian territorial expansion or invasions, in places like Ukraine. Or Israel. If Russia can decisively push United States influence out from the Middle East through a direct confrontation such as this, then in the eyes of Vladimir Putin, the last check and balance on his wider Russian territorial ambitions will have finally been removed. There will simply be no one to oppose him. Perhaps it will be then that he will turn his attention to the "land of Israel." "And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face" (Ezekiel 38:18). [email protected] Russia says U.S. actions threaten its national security - http://www.reuters.com/article/us-russia-usa-idUSKCN1290DP
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Sunday he had detected increasing U.S. hostility towards Moscow and complained about what he said was a series of aggressive U.S. steps that threatened Russia's national security. In an interview with Russian state TV likely to worsen already poor relations with Washington, Lavrov made it clear he blamed the Obama administration for what he described as a sharp deterioration in U.S.-Russia ties. "We have witnessed a fundamental change of circumstances when it comes to the aggressive Russophobia that now lies at the heart of U.S. policy towards Russia," Lavrov told Russian state TV's First Channel. "It's not just a rhetorical Russophobia, but aggressive steps that really hurt our national interests and pose a threat to our security." With relations between Moscow and Washington strained over issues from Syria to Ukraine, Lavrov reeled off a long list of Russian grievances against the United States which he said helped contribute to an atmosphere of mistrust that was in some ways more dangerous and unpredictable than the Cold War. He complained that NATO had been steadily moving military infrastructure closer to Russia's borders and lashed out at Western sanctions imposed over Moscow's role in the Ukraine crisis. He also said he had heard that some policy makers in Washington were suggesting that President Barack Obama sanction the carpet bombing of the Syrian government's military air fields to ground its air force. "This is a very dangerous game given that Russia, being in Syria at the invitation of the legitimate government of this country and having two bases there, has got air defense systems there to protect its assets," said Lavrov. Lavrov said he hoped Obama would not agree to such a scenario. Russia suspended a treaty with Washington on cleaning up weapons grade plutonium earlier this month in response to what it said were "unfriendly acts" by the United States. Lavrov said both countries had the right to pull out of the treaty in the event of "a fundamental change in circumstances". "The treaty was concluded when relations were normal, civilized, when no one ... was trying to interfere in the (other's) internal affairs. That's the fundamental change of circumstances," said Lavrov. Russia to upgrade Syria naval facility to permanent base - https://www.yahoo.com/news/russia-upgrade-syria-naval-facility-permanent-095018058.html
Russia's defense ministry said Monday that the country was poised to transform its naval facility in the Syrian port city of Tartus into a permanent base. "In Syria we will have a permanent naval base in Tartus," Russian news agencies quoted deputy defense minister Nikolai Pankov as saying. The announcement represents the latest move by Moscow to bolster its forces in Syria as tensions with the West have surged over Russia's bombing campaign in support of President Bashar al-Assad. The defense ministry said last week it had deployed its S-300 air defense missile system to Tartus and warned Washington it would halt any attempted US strikes in Syria. Moscow also sent three missile ships to reinforce its naval forces off the coast of the conflict-wracked nation. Pankov did not provide a timeline for turning the Tartus naval facility -- which dates back to the Soviet era -- into a permanent base. He said the main purpose of the S-300s was to protect the Tartus naval facility. Russian lawmakers on Friday ratified a deal with Syria on its "indefinite" deployment of air forces to the country, a move seen as paving the way for its jets to stay long-term. The deal, signed between Moscow and Damascus in August 2015, allowed Russia to establish its Hmeimim airbase to launch operations last year. Tensions have soared since Washington pulled the plug on talks with Moscow aimed at reviving a Syria truce deal, citing Russia's brutal bombing campaign. Russia on Saturday vetoed a UN draft resolution on stopping Russian and Syrian regime air strikes on the war-ravaged city of Aleppo, with the United States calling for a war crimes probe into the carnage. Iran Warns "Any US Attack Against Assad Regime Will Be Suicidal" - By Patrick Goodenough - http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/iran-any-us-attack-against-assad-regime-will-be-suicidal
A senior advisor to Iran's supreme leader warned Sunday that any U.S. military strike against Syria's Assad regime would be "suicidal." "If the Americans take military action in Syria, it will be a suicidal action," said Ali Akbar Velayati, a former foreign minister who serves as foreign affairs advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. U.S. military action in Syria would result in the third consecutive "defeat" in the region, after the military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, Velayati said, adding that the defeat in Syria would be even "stronger" than in the other two cases. His remarks were quoted by Iran Daily, a paper published by the official IRNA news agency. Iran's was the latest response to reports indicating that the Obama administration is mulling a "kinetic" option in a bid to end the assault by the Assad regime and its Russian allies aimed at recapturing rebel-held parts of Aleppo, Syria's biggest city. Earlier, Russia's defense ministry spokesman noted that any attack against Syrian regime military targets would put its military personnel in danger too. Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov underlined Russia's deployment of sophisticated surface-to-air missile defense systems and implicitly threatened to retaliate against any U.S. strike. Like Russia, Iran is heavily involved in the campaign to fight off a broad rebellion against President Bashar al-Assad. Russia launched an airstrike campaign a year ago, claiming to be targeting terrorists but - according to the U.S. - focusing much of its attention on other rebel groups including those supported by Western and Arab nations. In Iran's case, it has provided millions of dollars of military aid, deployed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officers and troops on the ground, and is also sponsoring Shi'a militia fighting on behalf of the regime, including those from its Lebanese ally Hezbollah. Sunday's threat comes from a man who is not only close to Khamenei but has himself been accused of direct links to international terror, Velayati served as Iran's foreign minister from 1981 to 1997, both under Khamenei (who was Iran's president until elevated to the supreme leader's post in 1989) and his successor, President Hashemi Rafsanjani. Velayati and Rafsanjani are among eight senior Iranians accused by the Argentine government of a role in plotting the deadly 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires in which 85 people were killed. Argentina issued arrest warrants for the eight almost a decade ago, but all are still at large. A ninth man accused by Argentina of a key role in the bombing, Hezbollah terror chief and an FBI "most wanted" terrorist, Imad Mughniyah, was assassinated in a bomb blast in Damascus in 2008. Khamenei sent Velayati as his representative to Mughniyah's funeral in Beirut. The U.S. State Department says Iran remains the world's foremost state sponsor of terror. Doctrines of Devils - By Daymond Duck - http://raptureready.com/featured/duck/dd248.html
The apostle Paul said, "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (I Tim. 4:1). The Holy Spirit has an important message especially for those who attend church: Pay attention. Be on guard. When the last days of the Church are winding down on earth, many who call themselves Christians will abandon what the Bible says. They will depart from the Scriptures because they are allowing themselves to be led astray by satanic spirits espousing satanic doctrines. Satan doesn't walk up to his victims in a red suit with a pitchfork in his hand. He has filled the atmosphere with demonic spirits that present themselves as ministers of righteousness (II Cor. 11:13-15). They are cunning. They know who is vulnerable. They know how to lead people astray. And it is real. Few would deny that Satan tempted Jesus many times. This is important because the Church in the U.S. is in decline. Articles about church members becoming inactive and churches closing their doors are becoming very common. There are more church closings than new churches openings. The percentage of U.S. citizens who have no affiliation with church is rising. And on and on it goes. Satan and his demons are very active. Members of the Satanic Temple recently announced that they have opened their international headquarters in Salem Mass. Their website says, "The fact that we have a home in Salem is a testament to the progressive mentality of the people there, and the local government's support for plurality." The Satanic Temple has now opened after school Satan Clubs in several states. A 2001 U.S. Supreme Court ruling allows them to do this. It is well known that the re-creation of an arch at the Temple of Baal was recently and temporarily erected at City Hall Park in New York City. Baal worship led to God's destruction of Israel in Old Testament Times, but Roman Catholic Mayor Bill de Blasio thinks he has done a good deed. Authorities in the Roman Catholic Church in Italy and the U.S. recently said there has been a "sharp rise in people dabbling in Satanism and the occult." According to them demonic possessions are rising and there is now an urgent need for more trained exorcists. These authorities blamed the rise in Satanism and the occult on the direct activity of Satan and the decline in faith and values in the world. The article about this is posted at: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/26/urgent-need-for-more-exorcists-as-increasing-number-of-people-da/ Here is the good news: This Satanism and the decline of the Church are two important signs that we are getting close to the Rapture. On Sept. 28, 2016, christianpost.com posted an outstanding article on their website titled "Globalism Is Anti-Christ, Demonic, Theologians Argue." The article is about globalism (world government) and a global value system (a world religion). The author, Brandon Showalter, does an excellent job of pointing out the demonic aspects of globalism, its opposition to the kingdom of God and the danger of removing our borders. The article points out that one of the candidates for Pres. of the U.S. opposes this demonic globalism and the other fully embraces it. Many people don't seem to realize (is this strong delusion?), that the coming world government will be headed up by the Antichrist and he will be a Satan worshipper (Rev. 13:3-4). They don't seem to understand that demonic activity will lead to the battle of Armageddon (Rev. 16:13-4). Anyway, one of the prophecies of the Tribulation period is a day of darkness and gloominess. Spiritual darkness is flooding down on the U.S. (Zeph. 1:15). Please vote. Prophecy Plus Ministries Daymond & Rachel Duck [email protected]
My Review of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Over the last 35 years, I have literally read hundreds of books on Bible Prophecy and End Time signs. I especially enjoy books on the Rapture, and I have read almost every Rapture-related book published. In all those years, devouring thousands of pages, and millions of words, I have not read a better book on the Rapture than, Rapture Ready...Or Not? Terry James might be physically blind, but he is spiritually sharp and well discerning beyond most authors. In "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" Terry has nailed the pre-trib Rapture, and removed any doubt what so ever about the Church going through the Tribulation. With great insight and Godly discernment, Terry explains with simple, yet profound words, why and how that he has come to believe the ways he does about the Rapture, the Tribulation, and the End Times scenario. I think after reading "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" you too will believe as Terry does, and be Ready for the Rapture like never before! - Randy Thomas - Publisher / Editor - Prophecy Update For more information and or to get your copy of "Rapture Ready...Or Not?" use this link: http://www.raptureready.com/terry/book35.html Watchman Warning: Deception and Hope - By Hal Lindsey - http://www.hallindsey.com/ww-10-7-2016/
People are losing confidence in governments, financial institutions, businesses, schools, and even hospitals and doctors. They're looking for something else on which to anchor their lives. Over the coming months and years, unprecedented numbers of them will be more open to the message of the Gospel. But they will also be increasingly vulnerable to spiritual deception. Matthew chapters 24 and 25 contain what Bible scholars call the "Olivet Discourse" (because Jesus presented it on the Mount of Olives). It was prompted by a question from His disciples. "What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" (Matthew 24:3 NASB) Jesus began His answer with a warning. It fits any time in history, but especially the last days. "Take heed that no one deceives you." (Matthew 24:4 NKJV) We live in the age of deception. Human beings have always tended to lie to one another, but some generations value truth more than others. Love of truth and abhorrence of lying used to be a defining characteristic of Americans, but not so much these days. There was a time when to call a man a liar would lead to fisticuffs. It was one of the worst of insults. Now people tend to be proud of their ability to deceive. Deception today has also been amplified by technology. We've had radio and television for a long time - newspapers even longer. But with the advent of the internet came blogs, emails, text messages, social media, and thousands of other ways to communicate across languages, cultures, and around the globe as easily as around the block. The Internet and its offspring are communications tools of unprecedented power. A tool amplifies and extends a human being's natural capabilities. Think of how much a hammer amplifies the abilities of a carpenter. In the same way, a microphone and sound system amplify the words of an orator, sending them to more people. If the orator is telling the truth, it helps him get that message out. But if he's lying, it amplifies that message also. Today, a kid with a smartphone and a clever idea can reach millions of people around the world in a matter of hours. That's an amazing tool to be used for good or evil; to communicate the truth or a lie. Open your email, and unless you have good spam protection, you'll find dozens of messages every day that are designed to deceive you. In some cases, they want to get you to click on a link in the email in order to take over all or part of your computer. Some want to hijack your computer - shutting it down until you pay them a ransom to release it. Others want to secretly use your computer in the distribution of pornography, or more spam. Even friends inadvertently mislead one another by passing on false information through email. Television programs covertly and sometimes overtly push their political, cultural, or religious messages. So do films, video games, news organizations, and especially popular music. Sadly, their message is usually the antithesis of God's word. After giving a general warning against deception, Jesus became more specific. "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many."(Matthew 24:5 NKJV) In John 8:44, Jesus said, "The devil... is a liar, and the father of lies." (NASB) 2 Corinthians 11:14 says, "Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." (NASB) In the last days, this side of him will be manifest even more clearly. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 says, "The coming of the lawless one [the Antichrist] is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved." (NKJV) The Antichrist will perform "lying wonders" using the power of Satan. He will use"all unrighteous deception." And the people of that time will be vulnerable to these deceptions because they will "not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved." The Antichrist's cohort is known to God as the "False Prophet." His very name indicates he is a deceiver of the first order. Revelation 13:14 says the False Prophet"deceives those who dwell on the [Land] because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast." (NASB) Those things will happen in the time of the Tribulation after the Church has been raptured. But people won't just wake up one morning no longer loving the truth. There will be a process of turning from truth. And we're already seeing that process. Today, deception is going on in ways never dreamed of by any previous generation. But, as always, we can take comfort from the fact that God warned us of these things in advance. Fulfilled prophecy and prophecy in the process of being fulfilled show that He exists, He speaks, and He cares. And because He said these things thousands of years ago, they illustrate the fact that His powers, out reach and truth have no limits. Daily Jot: Sex and the election - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
Let's have a frank discussion about sex...and the election. In 1992, Jennifer Flowers saying she had a 12-year affair with Bill Clinton rocked the election. Clinton denied her claims, was later found to be lying about it and had to admit under oath that the two had sex. We all know that Clinton had a sex problem because that's his legacy. Interesting, that his wife, now Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, stood by her man and was relatively quiet about all the accusations of abuse, rape, and affairs that followed her husband throughout his career. Even more interesting is her reaction to an 11 year old tape of Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump talking graphically about his "sexcapades." Clinton tweeted: "This is horrific. We cannot allow this man to become president." Meantime, Trump issued an apology, saying, "I've never said I'm a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I'm not. I've said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize... I've said some foolish things, but there's a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims." Trump's got a point. Hillary is more outraged at Trump's words than her husband's actions. A double standard-one of great entitlement. From my days in politics, I could tell you numerous stories about both Hillary and Bill and their sex romps. Bill Clinton is a whoremonger. Hillary Clinton is a lesbian or at least bi-sexual. This dates back to the late 1970s when I first started covering politics and really before the Clintons were a household name. The things I could recount are not fit to be published in The Daily Jot. In an exclusive interview with the UK Daily Mail published October 8, Jennifer Flowers said she wasn't surprised to hear the rumors that Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin were lovers. Flowers said that Bill Clinton had admitted to her that Hillary had performed a certain sex act on more women than he had. Flowers said that Hillary Clinton was bi-sexual. The Clinton's lifetime body of work has been spent denying scandals, murders, selling influence, and a host of other things exposed from the dark secrecy of the Clinton dynasty. These actions are denied without apology. Those exposing them are ridiculed, harassed or worse. And the Clintons behave like victims. Trump also has had a number of scandals, but he owns up to them, says he's not perfect, he was wrong, and apologizes. One of these people is going to be president. One blames others for their own scurrilous actions. One takes responsibility for his actions. Something to think about: Proverbs 28:13 says, "He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy. Daily Devotion: Happily, Even After - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. -Philippians 2:3 I once heard a story about a husband and wife who were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. At a gathering for friends and family, the husband stood up and proclaimed, "I love this woman so much." Turning to his wife, he said to her, "Dear, because you have given me twenty-five years of wedded bliss, I am taking you to China." The wife was so excited. She exclaimed, "China! I have always wanted to go to China!" Then she said to her husband, "If you are doing that for our 25th wedding anniversary, I can't wait to see what you will do for our 50th wedding anniversary!" The husband replied, "That is when I will pick you up." A story like that is funny to hear, but the reality of how our culture views marriage is no laughing matter. As Oscar Wilde wrote, "The world has grown so suspicious of anything that looks like a happy married life." Is a long and happy marriage even possible? Can a woman and a man fall in love, get married, and live happily ever after? That is what the fairytales tell us. Is it more realistic to ask if couples can live "happily even after" they're married? I'm here to tell you, the answer is yes. It is possible to have a happy marriage. It is possible to have a strong marriage. But it doesn't happen by random chance. Sometimes people say, "They have a marriage made in heaven." Does that mean that others have a marriage made in hell? No. If you see a marriage that looks like it was made in heaven, it is because those people have applied themselves to making it work. When a husband and wife are each putting the other one first, with Christ as their foundation, they can experience a happy and fulfilling marriage. FROM THE HEART
