The United States in Bible Prophecy - America the Beautiful? - By Dr. David R. Reagan -

It is only natural that we should wonder. Since the United States is not mentioned specifically by name in Bible prophecy, people have resorted to their imaginations to find our nation in the Scriptures. A "tall and smooth people"? Some have pointed to Isaiah 18 which speaks of a people "tall and smooth" who are "feared far and wide." The passage further states that this is a "powerful nation whose land the rivers divide." The chapter ends by stating that the people of this nation will bring "a gift of homage" to the Lord when He returns to reign from Mt. Zion. Because these verses speak of a powerful nation whose land is divided by a great river, some have jumped to the conclusion that the nation is the United States since it is divided by the Mississippi River. But the opening verses of this chapter indicate it is speaking of "Cush," the ancient name of Ethiopia. At the time Isaiah wrote this passage, Ethiopia was a part of the Egyptian empire and the river referred to is undoubtedly the Nile. A "village" of Tarshish? Probably one of the most popular passages where people claim to have found the U.S. is in Ezekiel 38 where the prophet describes an invasion of Israel that will be launched in the end times by a nation "from the remote parts of the north." The descriptive verses about the northern power make it clear that this nation is Russia. What is not so clear is where the U.S. fits into this invasion. Those who find us in the passage point to Ezekiel 38:13 which says that "the merchants of Tarshish and all its villages" (or "young lions" depending on translation) will speak out against the invasion. The argument is that Tarshish is Britain and the "villages" or "young lions" are the English speaking nations like the U.S. and Australia that were founded by British immigrants. To say the least, this is a highly imaginative interpretation. Its validity is seriously questioned by the fact that no one knows for certain the true identity of "Tarshish." Furthermore, recent archaeological developments indicate that Tarshish was most likely Spain, not Britain. A "great eagle"? Another favorite passage for applied imagination is Revelation 12:13-17. These verses state that in the middle of the Tribulation God will provide a means of escape for the Jewish remnant in Israel. They will be carried into the wilderness to a hiding place on the "wings of a great eagle." Some people have seized on this imagery to teach that the U.S., whose national symbol is the eagle, will supply the end time air lift that will save the Jewish remnant. But the Bible is its own best interpreter. And when you look up the phrase, "wings of an eagle," you will find that it is the same one that God used in Exodus 19:4 to describe how He brought the Israelites out of Egypt. God is the eagle, not the United States (see Deuteronomy 32:11). "Babylon the great?" This brings us to the final and most widely used passage for identifying the U.S. in Bible prophecy. It is Revelation 18 where the destruction of "Babylon the great" is described. There is no doubt that the United States shares many similarities with the corrupt commercial empire described in this chapter. But the U.S. is not a fulfillment of Revelation 18. That chapter is describing the last Gentile world empire that will dominate the earth at the time of the Lord's Second Coming. It is the empire of the Antichrist. A Conclusion So, where is the United States in Bible prophecy? The answer is that we are not mentioned directly and specifically. We are covered by general prophecies that relate to all nations, but beyond that, our end time destiny must be a matter of speculation. General prophecies that apply to the U.S. include those that say all nations will be judged (Isaiah 34:2-3) and all nations will cease to exist except the nation of Israel (Jeremiah 30:11 and 46:28). A Speculation I personally believe that the reason the U.S. is not mentioned in end time prophecy is because we will suddenly cease to be a world power and will therefore play no significant role in end time events. The destruction of American power is most likely to occur in two stages. The first could be an economic catastrophe that will result from our out of control debt situation. Our god is the dollar, and the Lord is going to destroy that god when the weight of our debt collapses our economy. The second stage could occur when Russia launches its invasion of Israel (prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39). I believe it is very likely that they will launch a preemptive nuclear attack against our nation, since we are the only country in the world that might possibly come to Israel's defense. This attack may be hinted at in Ezekiel 39:6 where it says that fire will fall on "those who inhabit the coastlands in safety." The Russian attack will probably come from submarines deployed off our East and West coasts. Each Russian sub carries more fire power than all the bombs dropped in World War II. Such an attack would give us only seven minutes warning, not even enough time to launch a counter attack. With the U.S. immobilized, the Russians will then attack Israel and, according to Ezekiel, their army will be wiped out supernaturally by God on the hills of Israel (Ezekiel 39:1-4). The greatest power vacuum in the history of mankind will be created almost overnight. The world will be gripped by panic. Into that vacuum will step a dynamic, charismatic European political personality who will be energized by Satan. He will begin to rally the world to his support through his brilliant proposals for world peace. The world will be mesmerized by him (Revelation 13:8). An Objection Some argue that since the collapse of the Soviet government, Russia is now too weak to launch any attack against Israel or the United States. But the economy of Russia has rebounded due to the nation's vast oil reserves, and its military power is intact, including thousands of nuclear warheads! In fact, Russia is far more dangerous to the world today than before the Soviet collapse. The increased danger is rooted in the instability of the government. There is no hope for democracy in Russia because the societal values that are essential for the working of a democratic system do not exist. Nor is there any historical experience with democracy. Before the Commissars were the Czars. As I predicted from the outset, the experiment with democracy did not last long. Vladimir Putin has created a new tyranny that is obsessed with territorial expansion. Putin will most likely resort to one of the oldest techniques of government - namely, stirring up trouble abroad to divert people's attention away from their domestic problems. That foreign trouble will ultimately be the invasion of Israel. The Parallel of Habakkuk I admit that I do not like this speculative scenario. But it seems the most likely chain of events to me. When it first occurred to me, I was particularly repelled by the idea of God using Russia to judge our nation. I asked, "How can a holy God punish those who are evil with those who are more evil?" My quest for an answer to that question led me to the book of Habakkuk. I discovered that Habakkuk asked God the same question when God revealed to him that Judah would be judged by an invasion of the Chaldeans. God never answered Habakkuk's question. He just called on Habakkuk to proceed in faith, believing that God knew best (Habakkuk 2:4). After a difficult spiritual struggle, Habakkuk stepped out in faith and said, "Lord, even if the Chaldeans completely destroy us, I will continue to exalt Your name" (Habakkuk 3:17-19). The Chaldeans came. They destroyed the nation of Judah and the Temple of God. But where are the Chaldeans today? In the dust bin of history. Where are the Jews? Regathered to their land. The point is that God has the wisdom and power to orchestrate the evil of Man to the triumph of His holy will in history. It is not for us to question His ways. Rather, it is for us to trust Him. A Sobering Conclusion But there is another point to consider. Are we really more righteous than the Russians? I think not. In fact, I believe we are far more dangerous to the world spiritually than the Russians have ever been, for we are the world's moral polluter through the export of our sleazy television programs, our filthy movies, our satanic music, and our degrading pornography. We are a people who have turned our back on God. The day of judgment for us will be far more severe than for the Russians, for "to those to whom much is given, much is expected" (Luke 12:48). Another Possibility There is another possible fate for the United States. If the Rapture were to occur today, we would be devastated because our nation contains more born again Christians than any other nation in the world - more than all of Western Europe combined. Further, we have many born again Christians in high positions of commerce and government. The Rapture would reduce our nation to chaos, removing us from the international scene as the world's dominant power. We can hope and pray that this will be the destiny of our nation, because if it is not, we are headed toward outright destruction due to our rebellion against a gracious God who has blessed us more than any other nation that has ever existed. Palestinian 'Support' for Saudi Arabia - by Khaled Abu Toameh - https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13167/palestinians-saudi-arabia As Mahmoud Abbas was busy praising the Saudis for their "justice, values and principles," the London-based Action Group for Palestinians of Syria issued a statement in which it accused the Saudi authorities of preventing Palestinian refugees from entering the kingdom. Many Arabs and Muslims can hardly afford to alienate a country as rich as Saudi Arabia. This is a good example of "money talks." However, this does not mean that the Saudi money will ever change the hearts and minds of Palestinians, especially regarding a peace agreement with Israel. The mistreatment of Palestinians at the hands of their Arab brethren has never been of concern to Abbas and his leadership. They are silent when Palestinians are killed and expelled from their homes in Syria. They are silent when Palestinians face discrimination and apartheid laws in Lebanon. The Saudi government says they have given the Palestinians $6 billion in aid since the year 2000. So Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has good reason publicly to declare his support for Saudi Arabia in the standoff with the rest of the world over the Jamal Khashoggi affair. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas did not wait for Saudi Arabia to admit that Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in its consulate in Turkey. Days before the Saudi announcement, Abbas decided that he and the Palestinians have "absolute confidence" in King Salman bin Abdel Aziz and this son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. As Abbas was busy praising the Saudis for their "justice, values and principles," the London-based Action Group for Palestinians of Syria issued a statement in which it accused the Saudi authorities of preventing Palestinian refugees from entering the kingdom. "Palestinian refugees fleeing war-ravaged Syria have been denied access into Saudi territories," the group said. It pointed out that the Saudi ban excluded Palestinians heading to the kingdom to perform the Islamic hajj, or pilgrimage. The group also pointed out that Palestinians who fled Syria to Saudi Arabia "have been shorn of their right to visas, education, and health care, among other vital services." Saudi Arabia, the group added, "continues to opt for a closed-door immigration policy regarding Palestinian refugees seeking asylum in its territories." This is only one example of Saudi discrimination against the Palestinians. The group's announcement was published on the same day that Abbas was heaping praise on the Saudi leaders. In a statement issued by his office on October 14, Abbas, who described himself as the "President of the State of Palestine," said he "appreciated the positions of Saudi Arabia, a country that has always stood, and continued to do so, on the side of our just cause and the rights of our people." The statement quoted Abbas as expressing "absolute confidence" in the Saudi monarch and his son and said that "Palestine has always stood next to Saudi Arabia, and will continue to do so." This announcement of blind support for the Saudi king and crown prince came as the international community was still demanding answers from the Saudi government concerning the disappearance of Khashoggi. No one knows on what basis Abbas decided to voice, on behalf of all Palestinians, "absolute confidence" in the Saudi leaders at a time when the Saudis were still denying responsibility for the disappearance and murder of the columnist. Abbas's support for Saudi Arabia could be directed against Qatar, which he believes is backing his rivals in Hamas. Relations between Abbas's Palestinian Authority and Qatar have been strained after the emirate decided to buy Israeli fuel for the power plant in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip as part of an effort to solve the power shortage there. Abbas's aides have accused Qatar of "meddling in the internal affairs of the Palestinians" by helping the residents of the Gaza Strip and Hamas. Last year, Saudi Arabia and several Arab countries severed diplomatic relations with Qatar over the emirate's alleged support for terrorism, especially the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. On the same day the Saudis finally admitted that Khashoggi had been killed inside their consulate, Abbas released yet another statement in which he again expressed full support for Saudi Arabia. This time, Abbas went a step further by publishing the statement on behalf of the "State of Palestine." Here is what the statement, which was released in Ramallah, said about the Khashoggi affair and the Saudi admission that the columnist was killed during a "fight" inside the diplomatic mission in Turkey: "The State of Palestine affirmed that Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdel Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, shall remain the country of justice, values and principles. The State of Palestine has praised the decisions taken by the Custodian of the Holy Sites (King Salman) to implement justice, fairness, truth and law." First, it is worth noting that Abbas and the Palestinians were not the only Arabs and Muslims publicly to embrace the Saudi leaders in the wake of the controversy surrounding the Khashoggi affair. Several Arab and Islamic countries, including Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Djibouti, and Mauritania have also issued similar statements expressing full support for King Salman bin Abdel Aziz and his son. The Arab League has also come out in support of the Saudi leadership. A statement issued by the Arab League praised Saudi Arabia for its "measures to achieve justice and hold accountable" those responsible for the Khashoggi killing. It is not hard to imagine why so many Arab and Islamic countries would rush to heap praise on Saudi Arabia even before the full details of the Khashoggi case remain unclear. Many Arabs and Muslims can hardly afford to alienate a country as rich as Saudi Arabia. This is a good example of "money talks." Some Palestinians have been suspicious of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's intentions. Earlier this year, Palestinians across the political spectrum launched a scathing attack on the crown prince after he was quoted as having told Jewish leaders in New York that Palestinians should accept US President Donald Trump's upcoming plan for peace in the Middle East or "shut up." Abbas is not different from the rest of his Arab and Muslim brothers. His statements of support for the Saudi leadership are in the context of his wish that the Saudis will give his Palestinian Authority financial aid. The Saudis claim that they have given the Palestinians $6 billion since the year 2000. Abbas, therefore, has good reason publicly to declare his support for Saudi Arabia in the standoff with the rest of the world over the Khashoggi affair. The $6 billion that the Palestinians received in the past 18 years from the Saudis are sufficient to make Abbas and other Palestinian leaders declare their support for the king and his son even if they commit a crime as bad as demolishing the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Saudi money also explains why Abbas and his top aides have been silent over the way Saudi Arabia treats Palestinians. This is not the sort of treatment that makes the Palestinian leadership proud. However, when a wealthy country like Saudi Arabia humiliates your people, it is not a good idea to complain too loudly. Last month, it was reported that Saudi Arabia has banned Palestinians holding temporary Jordanian passports from entering the country. The move, according to the reports, basically affects more than 600,000 Palestinians, who will not be able to perform the hajj to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Another report said that Saudi Arabia has issued new directives banning up to 300,000 Palestinians in Lebanon from performing the pilgrimage. Perhaps these reports about the Saudi discrimination against Palestinians have not reached Abbas's ears. Or perhaps they have, but why should he or any other Palestinian leader care about the plight of his own people if the perpetrators are so wealthy and influential? In fact, the mistreatment of Palestinians at the hands of their Arab brethren has never been of concern to Abbas and his leadership. They are silent when Palestinians are killed and expelled from their homes in Syria. They are silent when Palestinians face discrimination and apartheid laws in Lebanon. This is because Abbas and the Palestinian officials do not seem to care much about what happens to their people in the Arab countries. Now, it is also clear that they do not care about what Saudi Arabia does to their own people (or to a dissident Saudi columnist) -- just let that Saudi cash keep flowing into the Palestinian coffers. Nearing Midnight: Coming Out! - Terry James - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/ "Coming out of the closet" is an expression most understand in terms of the American lexicon. We have watched them "come out" over the last few decades. We have been a part of forewarning God's words of condemnation for the practices of homosexuality-such as the following: For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. (Romans 1:26-27) The forewarning God gave the Apostle Paul to pronounce has been ridiculed as have few other of His prescriptions for living while on the planet He created for humankind. As a matter of fact, governments-such as that of Canada-have gone a long way toward making offering such scriptural condemnation crime worthy of punishable by imprisonment. American Christian ministries are affected by those foreign governments whose laws are aimed at punishing those who "discriminate" against "gays." For example, one TV ministry recently told a guest minister you would recognize that he was not to say anything about homosexuality. If he did so, the TV hosts told him their ministry would be heavily fined-$50,000. And, the ministry possibly would be forbidden to air programs in Canada in the future. So, the gay community has not only come out of the proverbial closet, but now has major governments championing them as they proceed to emerge. Actually, the nucleus of this article isn't meant to dwell upon the coming out of the so-called gay community. That is very old news in this swiftly moving era as we near the end of this Age of Grace, as I am convinced with every ounce of discernment within me this generation is approaching. The opening of that barrier to total immorality-the homosexual closet door--however, I believe, is precursor to-indication of-the opening of a much more massive door. I think the door has been opened to the demonic nether region-to the dark dimension from which end-times evil is beginning to emerge. In every direction we look these days as prophetic observers (watchmen on the wall), there is inexplicable activity by people that flies in the face of common sensibility. I refer to the rage in the streets that not only has not abated, but continues to increase as part of America's former political process. I say former because the process is no longer recognizable within what was previously the civility norms of that process. The reprobate mindset for a growing number of people has, I believe, resulted from the spiritual infection gushing from that open door. Paul's forewarning of what happens when people turn their backs on God becomes more readily apparent by the hour: And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity. (Rom. 1:28-29) Many examples could be given to express what constitutes the end-times reprobate mindset. I'll give just one of recent vintage you might remember. Reacting to the Kavanaugh confirmation, a Georgetown professor said white Republican senators deserve to die "miserable deaths" while "feminists laugh as they take their last gasps. Carol Christine Fair, an associate professor in the Security Studies Program, added that once the white Republican Senators die miserable deaths, their corpses should be castrated and fed to pigs. (WND, "Prof: White GOP senators deserve 'miserable deaths,'" Oct. 2, 2018) But the invasion from that netherworld seems to have transcended merely the bringing about of the reprobate mindset prophesied by Paul-the mindset of those like the professor who is charged with inculcating the minds of America's youth. The insanity takes on even more pronounced end-times madness. In what is becoming a regular political expression of the left-wing, an occult bookstore in Brooklyn is organizing a gathering to hex newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The Facebook announcement read: "Please join us for a public hex on Brett Kavanaugh, upon all rapists and the patriarchy at large which emboldens, rewards and protects them. We are embracing witchcraft's true roots as the magik (sic) of the poor, the downtrodden and disenfranchised and its history as often the only weapon, the only means of exacting justice available to those of us who have been wronged by men just like him. ("Brooklyn Witches to Hex Brett Kavanaugh," Breaking Israel News, by Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz, Oct.15, 2018) Each hour that passes brings such reports and even stranger indications that the demonic world is coming out of that netherworld closet. And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (Isaiah 8:19-20) Summoning Up Demons - By Jan Markell - www.olivetreeviews.org I have to be honest: This is an article I wish I didn't have to write. The Christian walk is about good news, not bad. So I promise to take some bad news and turn it into good news before I am finished. But some of the paragraphs about which I write contain the inconvenient truth. This is a call to prayer and spiritual warfare. We are battling principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12) and they are not even subtle today. They are bolder than some believers and some pulpits today. But were the church not here to provide a buffer against evil, the battle would be more intense. Can you imagine the chaos of the Tribulation when there is no restrainer? Unprecedented Harassment I am hearing from Christian leaders who are struggling with Satanic pushback like never before. They are experiencing discouragement, family struggles, health challenges, ministry conflict, and personal attacks. Frankly, they sense a horde of demons have been loosed to harass and discourage. I believe that is exactly what has happened. Pastor J.D. Farag speaks of the rising tide of evil in his October 7 prophecy update. Pastor J.D.'s takeaway from speaking at my September 29 conference was that evil is increasing exponentially daily. He came to this conclusion, in part, by speaking to hundreds of attendees and hearing their stories. To say these are difficult days is an understatement. In Amir Tsarfati's current event update of October 19, he reports a demonic-like hijacking of some of his social media with accompanying text threats. He even had a message from a dark organization I will not name. I also wish to respect his privacy. However, he has shared a good deal of this online. Lawlessness and Anarchy What are we to make of the lawlessness around the world and particularly in America? The Godless are stirred up. They want no morals, no laws, no restraint, no rules, no standards. They don't like faith, family, or love of country. They think their evil is good (Isaiah 5:20). They are filled with strong delusion believing violent progressiveness is the savior of the world. They think they are righteous in threatening good people, chasing conservatives out of restaurants, assaulting politicians with bodily harm, and cursing out men like Ted Cruz in demonic tantrums. But evil is in the air and they are breathing it in and then acting it out. Even more Godless activity is stirred up and financed by a man who is in love with evil -- George Soros. Ahab and Jezebel in Washington On September 26 the Satanic Arch of Baal, also known as the Arch of Palmyra, was planted in the heart of Washington, D.C. ISIS destroyed the original Temple of Baal in Syria in 2015. Its history goes back to the book of Kings and Ahab and Jezebel. Unspeakable activity went on in this pagan temple. It is the essence of evil and rebellion. Why would anybody want to bring a replica of it back and honor it? Yet the replica began a global tour in 2015. America welcomed it and had a "celebration" under it with the U.S. Capitol building in the background last month. It was at the same time the U.S. was embroiled in the Judge Kavanaugh controversy. Is it any wonder that his confirmation was consumed in turmoil when such a monument to evil was just a few miles away? Spells Over a Cauldron On Saturday, October 20, witches then put a hex on Judge Kavanaugh. Spectators were invited to pay $10 for tickets to watch spells being cast against a good and decent man. Because evil has been unleashed, we cannot disagree with someone; rather, we must perpetrate acts of darkness with spells over a cauldron. Who could have imagined wickedness rising to this level? Anything Goes Spencer Gifts inside of a Chicago mall is featuring items for teens including t-shirts encouraging them to summon up demons and engage in actual bloodshed (details being spared here.) A local pastor intervened and stated, "We're so close to being Sodom and Gomorrah. We're living in a place where just anything goes. Do whatever you want, whatever you feel," he lamented. "All I'm going to say is, repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand." And at the same time, Facebook censors prayer. The demons behind the tech giants couldn't take it. Pagan Pride Pagan festivals are nothing new. People love to glory in wickedness and they suggest their nature worship is harmless. But I live in one of the occult capitols of the world here in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. This week they announced their forthcoming "Paganicon" for 2019 where revelers celebrate pagan pride. This is literally in my neighborhood and may be coming to yours. The Devil's Holiday What you may not know is the pagan/occult world is on overdrive from October 13 - 31. Their special holiday is on the horizon: Halloween -- the devil's holiday. It is as if a spell comes over the entire globe for it is under the influence of the evil one (I John 5:19). As Amir Tsarfati reports, even Israel's ultra-Orthodox Jews allow their youth to act ungodly only on this day. These Jews are spiritually blind. What is the excuse of believers who sanction the darkness represented by this unholy day? What blinds them to the fact that this day represents far more than costumes and candy? Why would any righteous person want to participate, party, and decorate with ghosts and all things dark? It would seem that some who should know better are giving heed to the doctrine of demons (I Timothy 4:1). Evil to Wax Worse and Worse in the Last Days The Bible is clear that the last days would be characterized by a demonic outpouring. Demons are real and the battle we wage is real. Evil is to wax worse and worse (II Timothy 3:13). When we see these things increasing, we are to know His return is very near. Jesus Christ Crushes All Evil I could fill many more paragraphs with further proof of this encroaching evil but I want to end on a note reminding you of a pending trumpet blast instead. Jesus came to destroy the devil's work and He will (I John 3:8). As full as the day is now with evil and devils, it will someday soon be filled thousands of times over with God's glory and beauty. Yes, the earth has to go through much pain before that happens, but it will take place. And all of those who wish to exalt themselves above God will be crushed. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. -- Romans 8:38,39 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. On one side there are a bunch of candidates who are just plain bizarre. The other side is talking about the improved economy, how people have jobs now more than ever before, laws are being enforced, America is not being taken advantage of in its foreign policy, allies of America are being treated fairly, and enemies of America are taking their rightful hits. Seems like, one side of the political aisle is sane by at least traditional standards. Let's look at the other side and see if it makes any ethical, moral, economic or personal sense, or if you just scratch your head and say, "What the?" Pretty much the entire certain political party joined in on a "guilty until proven innocent" mantra in parading out false accusers of a Supreme Court nominee, sucking all the air out of the news cycle for weeks about sexual conduct charges that had no evidence behind them. The party also gave incredible credence to a lawyer for the pornography industry who claimed his clients were also sexually molested and had sex parties with the nominee during his college years. Did it ever occur to anyone that the pornography business is among the most illicit in the world and turns a profit on the sexual exploitation of women? How does an entire political party accuse someone without evidence of sexual misconduct AND use the porn industry for corroboration? What the? A certain party favors illegal immigration and ignores the national security risk of the 7,000-strong caravan in Mexico that is attempting to invade the US. A certain party in Texas pre-marked voter application forms with the affirmative of being a citizen and eligible to vote, and mailed them to illegal aliens. Another certain state party in New Hampshire is supporting a judge's decision to overturn a law that required proof of residency for voters registered within 30 days of the election. An incumbent Missouri senator from a certain party was caught on video saying why she hides her extreme liberal views from voters in her state. Another incumbent North Dakota senator from a certain party ran an ad to justify her vote against the Supreme Court nominee, and outed victims of sexual assault and domestic violence without their permission. What the? This same certain party has nothing to say about making the country better. It has a lot to say about its support of abortion, its opposition to traditional marriage, its support of all sorts of sexual orientation "rights," and about redistribution of wealth and raising taxes to support its outrageous ideas. It would seem that any self-respecting American, and any self-respecting Christian American, would look into these things and ask "Why on earth would I ever vote for anyone who aligns themselves with this nonsense?" Romans 12:21 commands, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." If you don't take responsibility for the good sense the Lord has given you by exercising your right to vote, don't be scratching your head and saying "What the?" when all the unethical, immoral, communists and anarchists take control. Daily Devotion: First Things First - By Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. -Philippians 4:11 I think it's important for those who are unmarried to find happiness as a single person before they find happiness as a married person, because someone who thinks another person will meet all the needs of their life will be surprised. Ultimately what we really long for is a relationship with God. We need Him to be first in our lives. Then, having found that relationship with Him, we need to find contentment where we are, whether single or married. The apostle Paul said, "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content" (Philippians 4:11 NKJV). We have to get first things first. As you're looking around for a potential spouse, look for a godly person. A lot of people say they're Christians when they're actually not, so look for someone who's godly. And let me take it a step further: look for someone who's even more godly than you are. If you spend time with someone, you'll know whether they're godly. One of the best things to do is to go to church and worship together. Have a Bible study together. If he or she doesn't have an interest in doing those things, then you have a problem already. Find contentment in your singleness before you try to find contentment as a married person. There's a certain flexibility in being single. When you're unmarried, you have the mobility to do things a married person never could do. If you're in that moment of singleness in your life, embrace the moment. Be the godliest version of yourself that you can be. Serve the Lord. Take the free time you have and use it for His glory. You just may find that the Lord will drop your future husband or wife into your life while you're busy serving Him.
