The Last Days: Preparing to Meet the Lord, Part 1 - By Sean Gooding -
https://www.raptureready.com/2019/11/12/last-days-preparing-meet-lord-part-1-sean-gooding/ Proverbs 29:18, "Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law." Thanks for the responses over the past few weeks with regard to these articles/lessons. Writing these lessons challenge me as I walk with the Lord. They force me to take stock of how I love, how I live and how I serve. Thanks for the encouraging emails and for the ones that make me study harder as well. Over the past few weeks, we have explored the above verse from Proverbs. This verse from Proverbs 29:18, as we have shown, is not a verse about 'casting a vision,' or about setting goals, or about anything other than the proper teaching of God's word. You may say, Sean, you are just repeating this. I am because it has been misused over and over again; it has been taken out of the context that God intended, and that can be dangerous. People don't perish because of a lack of goals, or a lack of ambition or lack of something to focus on. They perish because the Word of God is not clearly and skillfully taught. We also live in a time when even in the Lord's churches there is a lack of disciplined living. In casting off what many feel is the religious legalism of the very conservative churches, we have swung the other way; and now sin is okay. We no longer err on the side of caution, but push the envelope as to what is acceptable. Let me offer a sad reality of what can happen when people do not have a clear, doctrinally sound and skilled revelation of the word of God. There is a large 'church' here in Mississauga, the city where I pastor; it runs in the thousands. Just yesterday, I was saddened to learn from transcripts of the pastor's own words, both in lectures at seminaries and from sermons at the church, that he deems the blood sacrifice of our Lord Jesus as unnecessary for salvation. He deems that a loving God cannot be loving if death and bloodshed are needed for redemption. He completely denies the substitutionary death of Jesus for our sins. How many people sit in this church each week, have been there for years, and yet have never heard the true Gospel? They are involved, may be teachers and leaders, but they have never been saved. Why would any seminaries have this man to lecture to their students? It is because of a lack of the proper revelation of God's word, both on the side of the school and the students. So, let us put this in the light of the truth. It is God himself who performed the first blood sacrifice; He set the example of how our sins are covered. We see this in Genesis 3:21, "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them." Adam had tried to cover their sinful shame with the leaves of a fig tree, but what was required to cover their shame and nakedness were skins, not leaves. The only way to get skins from an animal is to kill it. Something died to cover our sin (Hebrews 9:22). How many people who attend this 'church' will meet Jesus one day and hear the words "I never knew you." We paired our look at Proverbs 29:18 with 2 Timothy 3: 16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." We showed that proper revelation of God's word contains three very important elements: doctrine (the fundamental and eternal principles of the Scriptures), reproof, and correction. (Reproof is defined as "an expression of blame or disapproval." Correction is defined as "a change that rectifies an error or an inaccuracy." Thus, reproof is pointing out sin and wrong; correction is then doing it the right way). And when doctrine and reproof take hold, we are then prepared to do good works. Today, we will begin to look at the process of how we go about doing good works. We are not doing these good works to be saved, but as evidence that God is actively working in us to make the right choices and be disciplined in the way that we live amongst the lost. To be able to do that, we will need to look carefully at two very familiar verses and apply them, through the power of the Holy Spirit to our lives. Let us look at Romans 12: 1-2: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." The great apostle Paul, in chapter 7 of Romans, tells us of the fight that happens between the Spirit of God in us and the flesh that is in its death throes. He is almost at the point of despair, and he calls out to the Lord for help. In chapter 8 we learn that we are no longer under condemnation (8:1) and that nothing can separate us from God's love (8:38-39). In chapters 9-10 he takes off on a bit of a tangent, talking about his fellow Israelites; and in chapter 12 he jumps right in all the way along, led by the Holy Spirit; and he is pleading with us, "I beseech you." What is it that he is beseeching us to do? The answer is found in verse 1, "that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice." God no longer needs or wants dead offerings anymore. What He wants are people who are dead to self and the cares of this world. People who put Him first above and beyond everything. People who seek His pleasure in all things first and not their own. We are commanded to do this all the way through the Bible. Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Joshua 24:15, "And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Psalm 143:10, "Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground." Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." Mark 8:35, "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it." Matthew 16:24-25, "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.'" Luke 9:23, "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." I can go on and on for pages and pages, but the point is this: If you and I are to take the proper teaching of doctrine, if we are to see the fruit of proper reproof and correction in the bearing of 'good work,' the first step is to surrender ourselves to the Lord. Lose all sense of self and any purpose other than His. What is God's purpose for me? No matter what it costs? No matter what I lose, no matter where it goes, no matter who goes with me, I must serve Him and Him alone. I surrender my hopes, dreams, ambitions and desires to one simple goal: what does God want? This decision will frame the way you think about everything that happens after that. Every event will simply be judged by is this God's will or not? If it is, then it is okay no matter the outcome. Many churches today have people who come only to see what God can give them: health, wealth and prosperity. But in truth, the path to growth in Jesus, the path to maturity is how much we can give and/or give up for Him, His causes and His Kingdom. Who will be wholly invested like Jesus was? He was wholly invested right down to His beaten body and shed blood. What about you and me? Are we sacrifices for and to Him? If not, what are we doing with the salvation that Jesus bought for us? Look at what Paul wrote in Galatians 2:20: "The life I now live is by faith in Jesus, who gave Himself up for me." Go and read once again Matthew 26:36-46 and see that Jesus prayed 3 times to let this cup pass; but not my will, Father, yours be done. Jesus, the man, understood the anguish and the pain He was about to suffer - but not my will, Father, yours be done. As living sacrifices, we must be willing to suffer as needed to self so that Jesus can produce in us the good works that please Him. These are the last days; and soon, maybe sooner than you think, we will all meet Jesus face to face and give an account of our lives after salvation (2 Corinthians 5:9-10). How will our judgments go, oh Lord? Let me submitted to your will only and not mine. What about you? "So we aspire to please Him, whether we are here in this body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad." [email protected] Israel's Targeted Assassination Sends Double Message - By Israel Kasnett/JNS.org - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=3586 The Israeli missile that blasted through senior Islamic Jihad terrorist Baha Abu Al-Ata's Gaza bedroom window at 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning may have killed the man and his wife, but it also sent a broader message to Hamas and Iran. While officials insisted this was a "one-off" operation and Israel does not intend to return to a campaign of targeted assassinations, it also demonstrates to Hamas that Israel is still perfectly capable of obtaining detailed intelligence and carrying out a precision strike. It also sends a message to Iran that Israel will not tolerate the rogue regime's proxies attacking it. Moshe Maoz, a research fellow at the Hebrew University's Harry S. Truman Institute, told JNS: "This was going to happen sooner or later." He hesitated to conjecture whether or not this operation was connected to the installation of the new Minister of Defense Naftali Bennett, who officially took office immediately after the operation, and who, according to Maoz, seeks a tougher military approach to the Palestinian terror groups in Gaza. Maoz also questioned whether the operation was intended to influence the ongoing government negotiations currently taking place in Israel to form a proper coalition. According to Israel's defense establishment, the Islamic Jihad commander was responsible for the majority of the attacks emanating from Gaza in the past year, and regardless of the political situation, Israel was left with no choice but to eliminate him at this point. Maoz questioned the options Israel has. "What is the solution here? To occupy the Gaza Strip? The price will be high on both sides, and then Israel will need to deal with 2 million Palestinians," he posed. He noted that in the last decade, Israel "pounded" Gaza with airstrikes but nothing came of it, and many years of negotiations have not yielded the calm that Israel desires. Equally notable was the criticism that came from both political circles and the general Israeli public near the border. According to Maoz, Israel needs to be "more creative" in finding a solution to the Gaza problem. 'Find the right targets' Efraim Inbar, president of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security, told JNS that Hamas and Islamic Jihad must have known that their indiscriminate targeting of innocent civilians would "exact a high price from Israel." He said he does not believe that a full-scale ground invasion of Gaza now is the right solution, and he advocates "mowing the lawn" as the right approach, by which Israel occasionally carries out operations to prevent the terror groups there from becoming too powerful or capable. However, Inbar acknowledged that "at some time, a full-scale ground incursion will be inevitable." For now, he said, Israel needs to "find the right targets--the ones that are most painful." While former Israel Defense Forces' chief of staff and the leader of Israel's Blue and White Party Benny Gantz had said in the past that he would "pound Gaza" and wipe out the Hamas leadership if elected, Inbar noted that "it is easy to speak when you are not in government." The prime minister always has "a different perspective," noted Inbar. Gantz supported the targeted killing, tweeting, "The campaign against terror is continuous and requires moments when difficult decisions must be made. The political leadership and the IDF made the correct decision tonight for the sake of the security of Israeli civilians and residents of the south." "Blue and White will back every correct action for the sake of Israel's security and will put the security of residents above politics," he wrote. "Every terrorist who endangers our security should know that he deserves to die." Unlike Maoz, who said he believes that it is possible to negotiate with Hamas and come to an understanding with the terror group that would result in some form of peace, Inbar emphasized that Hamas and Islamic Jihad "want to kill all of us. There is no solution. Islamic Jihad and Hamas just want to destroy the Jewish state." Assassination of Terrorist Mastermind Foretold in Torah - By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - www.breakingisraelnews.com On that day Hashem made a covenant with Avram, saying, "To your offspring I assign this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates: Genesis 15:18 (The Israel Bible™) On Monday night, the IDF succeeded in eliminating Baha Abu Al-Ata, one of the most powerful leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, in an airstrike deep inside Gaza. The Palestinians responded by raining down over 160 rockets and mortars on Israel with deadly projectiles striking civilian targets as far as Tel Aviv. Miraculously, no one was seriously wounded in the attack. Rabbi Yekutiel Fish, an expert in Jewish mysticism who blogs in Hebrew under the title 'Sod Chashmal,' emphasized that the incident was clearly connected to Israel's covenant with God. "It is clear we are in the days before the final redemption and everything should be understood in that context," Rabbi Fish told Breaking Israel News as a preface to his statements. He noted the Biblical source for the terrorist's name appeared in Abraham's Covenant of the Parts from the Torah portion that was read just three days ago. When the sun set and it was very dark, there appeared a smoking oven, and a flaming torch which passed between those pieces. Genesis 15:17 "The word for darkness is עֲלָטָה (Alata)," Rabbi Fish said. "This a clear reference to the terrorist, who personified darkness. The flaming torch is a reference to the rockets the terrorist was so fond of shooting at Israel. But even his own darkness and the evil rockets cannot stop the final redemption closer. That is God's message in the covenant: that inside the darkness there is a great light." "In this covenant, God tells Abraham that his children, the Jews, will be as countless as the stars, that they will inherit the land, and that Hashem (God, literally 'the name') will exact judgment on the nation that oppresses the Children of Israel," Rabbi Fish said. "This will all happen in the final redemption, just as it did in the Bible. Rabbi Pinchas Winston, a prominent Torah scholar who writes extensively about the end-of-days, emphasized that by attacking Israel, the Arabs are fulfilling their Biblical role. "All of human history is the same script being played out on different pages," Rabbi Winston told Breaking Israel News. "There are three principal negative characters in the end-of-days: Edom, Ishmael, and the Erev Rav (mixed multitude). Everyone in the end of days, that is to say in our times, who opposes Israel, that is to say anyone who opposes God, belongs to one of those groups. This division actually has it roots even further back in the Bible with the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Gog comes from Japeth or Edom. Shem is the Children of Israel, Japeth becomes Greece and Rome which is Edom, and Ham is Ishmael or Islam." "The mixed multitude can be difficult to identify because it is basically an infection in Israel that can be traced back to the Exodus. Their message was that the Exodus they had just seen was not due to God. Today, the mixed multitude does the same thing, claiming that Israel is Palestine. They can wear Jewish clothes and have Jewish parents but they fight against Judaism and the Torah. They exist to unite Ishmael and Edom against Israel." "Yishmael's name means 'God will listen.' The entire purpose of Ishmael is to get Israel to pray. That is their power. They pray five times a day; more even than the Jews. They want to have a monopoly on prayer in all of the holy sites, even if they are holy to other religions. It would be great if the Jews thought that our prayers on the Temple Mount were as powerful as the Muslims seem to think they are." "But Jews are stiff-necked and we don't pray until the situation gets really bad and threatening. Like when hundreds of rockets are flying through the air towards Israel. The Palestinians didn't really pose a threat or do any damage but they made a lot of Jews pray very hard." "We are clearly in the final days before redemption but you would never know from the way most people are acting. We should be praying like crazy. But when it comes to the redemption, either you are ready or your not. Since this is the end-of-days, Ishmael is working very hard just to get us to pray." Nearing Midnight: Discerning Right/Wrong Side of Things - Terry James - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/ There is talk in every political season of one "litmus test" or another. By this it is meant that in order to get the endorsement of one faction or another, a candidate must show-through a litmus test-that he or she supports the programs, platforms, proposals, or whatsoever of those whose endorsement they seek. For example, a candidate, to be accepted by today's Democrat party, must get behind a woman's right to choose. That is, he or she has to totally embrace abortion at the level the Democrat Party champions. If a prospective candidate goes against this or any other litmus test, they can forget getting anywhere so far as concerns Democrat Party electibility. The Democrat Party rules committee determines who is "right" or "wrong" in this sense. One is determined to be on the "right" side or the "wrong" side of any given issue by what is considered acceptable ideology or viewpoint by the party's rules. By this process, the candidate is accepted or rejected as worthy or not. The Democrat Party has been shown to support abortion, LGBTQ, open borders, sanctuary cities, anti-Second Amendment right to have and bear arms, anti-law enforcement issues, anti-Israel proposals and actions, and other such propositions that directly oppose conservative Christian views. Democrat positions are considered on the left side of the political spectrum. That is, they are liberal or progressive in their ideological leanings. In these hyper-charged days in regard to politics, the views held by the Democrat Party are ultra-leftist in the view of most who want to maintain traditional American values-i.e., those generally held sacred since the nation's founding. Those of us who hold to traditional American values are considered on the political right. The leftists consider us as radical right-wingers. I agree that we who hold to the common-sense side of things in the world of culture and society are right. And those on the left are wrong. They are not wrong because I say so, or because the US Constitution says so. They are wrong because God's Word confirms they are wrong. Todd Strandberg and I just released a book with sixteen other authors who laid out the case for discerning right and wrong from God's unerring perspective. Discerners: Analyzing Converging Prophetic Signs for the End of Days covers much of the wrong issues assaulting our nation and world today. Discernment is not an option for the Christian. Jesus told every believer who would come down through the ages: "What I say unto one, I say unto all. Watch" (Mark 13:37). He was telling those of today who are in the middle of enduring the wrong being done that we are to observe these things and know how near He is to coming back to rectify that wrong. We are to know the times and seasons. This is a commandment, not a request. We know what is right and what is wrong by comparing the things going on around us to what the Bible has to say about these things. In the case of the issues championed by the leftists as given above, we, as Christians-as believers in the veracity of God's Word-are to be discerning. We are to examine each issue and compare it to God's Holy Word to discern whether the issue is right or wrong. Let's do so to just a few of the things the political left champions. Abortion The progressive/left side of the political spectrum has championed this travesty that has killed more than sixty million babies in their mother's wombs since 1973. They now, by and large, support the killing of a baby who survives the attempted abortion. They have seen to it that the right to carry out this grisly process has legal backing in a growing number of places. God's Holy Word says that shedding the blood of the innocent is something He hates. LGBTQ The progressive/left fully backs the LGBTQ and all that organized anti-God coalition ravenously pursues. They demand that male can love male and female can love female in the romantic or sexual way without consequence or judgment from God or anyone else. They proclaim that marriage between the same sexes is the equivalent in moral legitimacy to heterosexual marriage. They declare that all have the right to become a gender other than that to which they were born. It is their choice, not any religious entity of any sort. The Bible says it is an abomination for man to lie with a man and woman with a woman. It is a most egregious sin in God's Holy eyes. His Word says that He created man and woman. He created them male and female. He ordained one man and one woman to be together in marriage for life. Anti-Israel Proposals and Actions The most prominent sign that lets the discerning Christian know where this generation stands on God's prophetic timeline is the nation Israel. That nation-the Jewish people-stands starkly against the darkening backdrop of these last days. Israel and the world's treatment of that nation demonstrates clearly that the time of Christ's return must be very near. First and foremost, in my estimation, is the denial that Israel is the Israel of old-the Jews of which the Bible says God brought from the loins of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. There is a growing denial even in the evangelical church that today's Israel any longer is a nation blessed of God to be His chosen people. This lie is from the pit. Read Romans chapter 11 to get the absolute truth about God's heart for this people. That heavenly embrace will never change! This doesn't mean that today's Israel-the Jewish people-are perfect. They are far from it. They are in total spiritual blindness, the Scripture tells us. This is yet another confirmation from Bible prophecy that we are at the end of the Age of Grace. Only a remnant of the nation Israel will ultimately recognize their Messiah-the Lord Jesus Christ-when He returns at Armageddon. Only that remnant will be saved to repopulate the millennial Israel under the throne of David. Still, they belong to God. Israel is the same Israel of old. God loves them and will move heaven and hell during the Tribulation to bring about a remnant that will believe in His Son Jesus as their Messiah. And Israel is the chief signal by which we can discern what is right and what is wrong in looking at the political left. Here is a litmus test for you in this political season. There is a disdain for God's chosen nation at the very heart of the Democrat Party. The following news excerpt tells the story. Not a single 2020 Democrat candidate from the massive field spoke at AIPAC's pro-Israel summit in the spring. But 5 of the 2020 Dems, Sanders, Buttigieg, Castro, Klobuchar, and Bennett, were featured at the J Street conference alongside anti-Israel activists, BDS supporters, and terrorists. Those 2020 Dems who couldn't attend the anti-Israel hatefest in person sent video messages. Elizabeth Warren sent in a video message threatening to cut off aid to Israel unless it surrenders to Islamic terrorists. Then she promised to divide Jerusalem, turning half the ancient holy city into a killing ground for the murderous terrorists already occupying Gaza and portions of the West Bank. Joe Biden, Beto O'Rourke, Marianne Williamson, and even Andrew Yang joined her in sending messages of support and friendship to the anti-Israel group which has featured BDS supporters and terrorists. The majority of the 2020 Democrat field has aligned with an anti-Israel organization. ("2020 Dems Stand with J Street, Hamas and ISIS Against Israel - Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders declare war on the Jewish State," Daniel Greenfield, Frontpage Mag, Nov 1, 2019) Discernment in today's world is all important. God's Word is the only measurement that can validate truth. "Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever" (Psalms 119:160). Daily Jot: Here we go with the impeachment show - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com The deep state puppets are about to take front stage with their impeachment show. They have spent weeks advertising the gig by releasing tidbits of damaging statements and edited transcripts to gin up the public in favor of removing arch-villain Donald Trump from office-something these same people have been trying to do since Trump was elected. Ringmaster Adam Schiff (D-CA), House Intelligence Committee Chairman, took to the airwaves on the taxpayer-funded, left leaning, Morning Edition to frame up the case against Trump as bribery and high crimes and misdemeanors. Schiff said that bribery means that "you're offering official acts for some personal or political reason not in the nation's interest." Schiff went on to say, "The basic allegations against the president are that he sought foreign interference in a U.S. election, that he conditioned official acts on the performance of these political favors," Schiff said. "And those official acts include a White House meeting that the president of Ukraine desperately sought with President Trump, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded military assistance for a country that is at war with Russia and a country that the United States has a deep national security interest in making sure it can defend itself." That aid to Ukraine was not withheld and that the US has an agreement with Ukraine to investigate corruption doesn't matter to Schiff and the deep state. Schiff said, "I mean, when you consider the serious terms of whether the president has committed an impeachable offense, the fact that the scheme was discovered, the fact that the scheme was unsuccessful, doesn't make it any less odious or any less impeachable. If the president solicited for help in the U.S. election, if the president conditioned official acts on the performance of these political favors, whether Ukraine ever had to go through with it really doesn't matter. What matters is: Did the president attempt to commit acts that ought to result in his removal from office?" Schiff went on to say that those who would not support removing the president render their oath of office meaningless. The facts don't really matter. This is their best shot at completing the coup and they are going to take it irrespective of the divisiveness and derision it creates among countrymen. In 1 Kings 3, Solomon was faced with two women claiming the same baby. In verses 24-27, Solomon asked for a sword and said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other." Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned with compassion for her son; and she said, "O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!" But the other said, "Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him." Like this woman, Schiff and his minions are so set on their coup that they care nothing about the country. In fact, they would rather see it die than admit their plot. Speak boldly. Educate others. Your voice matters. Daily Devotion: When God Won't Listen - by Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.-Isaiah 59:2 If you're practicing sin as a Christian, it will bring your prayer life to a screeching halt. One of the reasons our prayers are not answered is because of unconfessed sin. The psalmist said, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear" (Psalm 66:18 NKJV). That word regard means "to cling to" or "hold on to." And in Isaiah 59, God said, "Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear" (verses 1-2 NKJV). We all sin, and we sin more than we think we do. As 1 John 1:8 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (NKJV). That is why Jesus taught us to pray, "Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us," as frequently as we pray, "Give us today the food we need" (Matthew 6:11-12 NLT). There's a difference, however, between Christians who sin and Christians who willfully and habitually sin without remorse, without any plans to stop. True Christians are miserable when they're living in sin, and they'll want to confess that sin. On the other hand, if someone can continue to sin and even plan to sin more without any remorse or pangs of conscience, it would indicate to me that he or she isn't a child of God (see 1 John 3:8). Unconfessed sin can hinder our prayers. That is why we want to confess it. And when we do, 1 John 1:9 tells us that God "is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (NKJV). FROM THE HEART
