One, according to the Bible, there will be a one-world religion headed up by someone called the False Prophet during the Tribulation Period. In Feb. 2019, Pope Francis and a Muslim Sheikh, Ahmed al-Tayeb, signed an agreement called the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace. The purpose of this document is to merge the religions to create world peace. Francis and the Imam established a Higher Committee of Human Fraternity to bring together people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and nationalities. The committee met twice in Sept. 2019. They announced plans to build a complex called the “Abrahamic Family House” in Abu Dhabi. Plans called for the “Abrahamic Family House” to have a church, a mosque and a synagogue (separate places for Christians, Muslims and Jews to worship) and a fourth place for people of all religions to come together as one body. Francis and the Imam would promote peace, coexistence, and brotherhood among all religions. On June 15, 2021, it was reported that construction on the Abrahamic Family House is well underway. The foundations of the church, mosque and synagogue have been laid, construction is about one-fifth done, and the buildings are projected to open in 2022. The mosque will be called the Imam Al Tayeb Mosque; the church will be called St Francis Church, and the synagogue will be called the Moses ben Maimon Synagogue (after a famous 12th-century Jewish scholar). The UAE views itself as a tolerant nation and boasts that it allows dozens of religions to worship there. A UAE official said Christians, Jews and Muslims make up more than half the world’s population. The article also said the first Hindu Temple is scheduled to open in the UAE in 2023. At least a few Bible prophecy teachers believe Pope Francis and the Imam Al Tayeb are trying to establish Chrislam (the merging of Christianity, Judaism and Islam; the three faiths that trace their beginning to Abraham) as the one-world religion. Two, according to the Bible, the Tribulation Period will begin when the Antichrist confirms a covenant for peace in the Middle East. On June 12, 2021, it was reported that the Biden administration is supporting the Abraham Accords negotiated by the Trump administration and is eager to expand them. However, Biden’s state department is recommending that these agreements be called normalization agreements instead of the Abraham Accords. The change in administrations has not stopped the quest for a covenant of peace in the Middle East. Three, according to the Bible, Jerusalem will be a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone for the world at the end of the age. In 1967, 80,000 or more troops from several Arab nations moved 1,000 or more tanks and heavy weapons close to Israel’s borders in preparation for an attack. On June 5, 1967, Israel launched a pre-emptive strike, defeated the Arab nations, captured East Jerusalem, and reunited the city. Jews call the reunification of Jerusalem “Jerusalem Day.” They celebrate “Jerusalem Day” and their sovereignty over the city by singing, dancing, and waving the Israeli flag in a parade through the center of the city. Under the direction of Iran, the terrorist group Hamas located in Gaza called the celebration offensive and threatened violence if the Jews did not cancel it. Jerusalem Day fell on May 10, 2021; the Jews did not cancel the parade, but it was interrupted by sirens at the Wailing Wall because Hamas was firing rockets at Jerusalem (during the recent May 11-day war). The May 11-day war ended; the parade was rescheduled for June 15, 2021; Hamas threatened violence again; the Jews still did not cancel it, but they revised the route to keep the parade just outside the city. This time Hamas responded by launching incendiary balloons (balloons carrying fire bombs) into Israel that started several mostly small fires. On June 17, 2021, Israel retaliated by bombing 10 Hamas targets in the Gaza strip. This controversy over Jerusalem clearly fits in with Bible prophecy. A very interesting comment came from Yair Golan, a member of the new Prime Min. Naftali Bennett’s coalition: “This is not just a parade of flags; there will be other nationalist initiatives, the purpose of which is to bring about the War of Gog and Magog.” Many Bible prophecy teachers believe the Battle of Gog and Magog is close, and the Bible says it will take place in the latter years and latter days. It must happen. On June 20, 2021, following more riots and violence by Hamas, Israeli Prime Min. Bennett sent a warning to Hamas that our patience “has run out,” we will not tolerate “any more violence” from you of any kind. Some Israeli officials said the violence must stop or Israel will resume the May 11-day war. Four, according to the Bible, the Jews will return to the Promised Land in two great waves at the end of the age: the first great wave will be unbelieving Jews before the Tribulation Period, and the second great wave will be believing Jews at the end of the Tribulation Period. On June 17, 2021, it was reported that 6% of the global Jewish population lived in Israel in 1948, but more than 40% of the global Jewish population lives in Israel today. Covid, lockdowns, closed airports, closed borders, war, etc., slowed the return in recent months, but these things could not stop it, and the number of applications from young adult Jews (age 18-35) wanting to relocate to Israel has surged (up more than 40%). The global pandemic, grounded airplanes, thousands of rockets fired at Israel, Muslim threats, etc., have not stopped God’s Word from being fulfilled. Five, according to the Bible, knowledge will greatly increase at the time of the end. It was recently reported that IBM said knowledge will soon double every 12 hours because of quantum computing. Britt Gillette, founder of the “End Times Bible Prophecy” website and author of several books, recently noted that Google plans to build a million-qubit quantum computer by 2029. IBM and the UK have agreed to invest 300 million dollars on a quantum computing project, and many other corporations around the world are investing in quantum computing applications. Quantum computing will accelerate knowledge, weapons development, tracking everything, make it possible for one nation to control everyone on earth, and more. It seems obvious that the prophesied increase of knowledge at the time of the end is taking place (Dan. 12:4). Six, according to the Bible, the God that created this world and all humans has warned the nations that He will cut them into pieces and drag them into the Battle of Armageddon for coming against Jerusalem, scattering the Jews, and dividing the land of Israel at the time of the end (during the Tribulation Period; Zech. 12:1-3; Joel 3:2). History is not there yet, but God appears to be warning world leaders to leave Israel and Jerusalem alone. In his June 18, 2021 issue of “Koenig’s Eye View from the White House,” William Koenig inferred that Trump, Netanyahu and the world seemed to be moving along in a normal fashion until they signed the “Peace to Prosperity Plan” at the White House on Jan. 28, 2020. Immediately after the signing of that document, leaders of Germany, France, the UK, the EU, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed their support for the Two-State Solution, UN resolution 242 and 338, and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative that will divide the land of Israel, etc. Then, on Sept. 15, 2021, Trump and Netanyahu signed the Abraham Accords, which will also divide the land of Israel. Koenig noted that Covid-19 came on the scene as a global pandemic and caused worldwide problems, Trump was removed from office, and Netanyahu is now out of office. If the world keeps ignoring God’s warnings (and it will), the Church will be Raptured, and world leaders will be in the Tribulation Period. Seven, according to the Bible: Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others will attack Israel at the Battle of Gog and Magog in the latter days and latter years (Ezek. 38:1-8, 16). Iran is enriching uranium for use in nuclear missiles, and some speculate that the Battle of Gog and Magog might be triggered by Israel striking Iran’s nuclear facilities first. On June 18, 2021, Iran elected a new President named Ebrahim Raisi. Russia and Turkey quickly congratulated Raisi on his victory. He will take office in August 2021. On June 18, 2021, Israel’s Foreign Minister Lapid said Raisi is known as the Butcher of Tehran because he is responsible for killing thousands of Iranians. Israel expects Raisi to build up Iran’s uranium stockpile, and an unnamed Israeli source said, “There will be no choice but to go back and prepare attack plans for Iran’s nuclear program.” Think about it; Iran started the recent May 11-day war with Israel, Iran is seeking nuclear missiles, and the Butcher of Tehran is the soon to be Pres. of Iran. Other than the latter days and latter years, only God knows when this war will take place, but it appears to be close. Incidentally, Paul said, “in the last days, perilous times shall come” (II Tim. 3:1), and on June 18, 2021, it was reported that US Sec. of State Blinken told Congress, “The situation (in Iran) is becoming increasingly perilous.” Also, concerning the election of Raisi, a US State Department spokesperson said, “Iranians were denied their right to choose their own leaders in a free and fair electoral process.” Millions think that is what happened in the US. Eight, according to the Bible, the nations that burden themselves with Jerusalem at the end of the age will face the judgment of God (Zech. 12:3). On Dec. 6, 2017, Pres. Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and ordered the US embassy to be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem (opened on May 14, 2018). He followed that with an order to close the US Consulate in East Jerusalem that served the Palestinians (Mar. 4, 2019). On June 22, 2021, it was reported that Pres. Biden wants to reopen the US Consulate in East Jerusalem, and that would reverse Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel. Biden needs Prime Min. Bennett’s approval to open a Consulate in Jerusalem, and the report said he opposes it but is likely to approve it to avoid embarrassing Biden. If Bennett lets Biden do this, the US and Israel could both be in trouble with God (Gen. 12:3, Joel 3:2; Zech. 12:3). Nine, concerning the ability to track everyone: on June 21, 2021, it was reported that some people that have been vaccinated for Covid are being tracked in real time by 5G Cell phone towers. Data on their location, vital signs, etc., is being uploaded to computers and stored in massive databases. This writer cannot prove the accuracy of this report, but if it is true, people are likely unknowingly agreeing to be tracked when they agree to be vaccinated. I have little knowledge of things like this, but it seems to me that they have nanochips in their body that act somewhat like a computer operating system. Some say this internal operating system is not the Mark of the Beast, but it is a step in that direction, and future vaccinations will take them there. Finally, are you Rapture Ready? If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this. Will the European Union and the Biden administration at least condemn the Iranian regime and stop the West's appeasement policies with the ruling mullahs? In Iran, the regime urged people to vote, most likely to show that it enjoys legitimacy; however, what it faced was widespread voter apathy and a record low voter turnout. Many people boycotted the elections and protesters called on US President Joe Biden to stop trying to return to the nuclear deal. Anahita, an Iranian teacher from Tehran, told Gatestone, "I did not go to vote. Like many people, I did not have a candidate. So, why should I vote? The mullahs had a candidate: Raisi". Three days before the election, Soraya, a student at Tehran University, also told Gatestone: "The government is telling people to vote. But I see voting as an insult. We are not going to vote in order to show the world that we Iranians are frustrated with this clerical establishment. We do not support a government that shoots down a passenger plane [Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, downed by the IRGC in January 2020], that lies repeatedly, and that kills and tortures its own citizens. We do not support a government that steals the nation's resources and spends it on its militias. The old game of moderate or hard-liner is over. They are all the same." It is important for the world to know exactly who is this new President of Iran. After the Islamic revolution of Iran in 1979, Raisi was appointed as a judge at the age of 19 in the Karaj Prosecutor's Office, even though he had no formal university education. A year later, he was appointed to be the prosecutor for Karaj city, the fourth-largest in Iran. During the first few years after the revolution, Raisi proved his loyalty to the Islamic Republic by silencing many dissidents and opposition groups. At the age of 24, Raisi was appointed as deputy prosecutor of the Revolutionary Court. There, as a member of the "Death Commission", he would be known for, and implicated in, one of the world's largest mass executions, in which more than 30,000 people were executed, including children and pregnant women. A US House of Representatives resolution detailed: "... over a 4-month period in 1988, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out the barbaric mass executions of thousands of political prisoners and many unrelated political groups... according to a report by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, the massacre was carried out pursuant to a fatwa, or religious decree, issued by then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini..." The late Hussein-Ali Montazeri -- one of the founding fathers of the Islamic Republic, as well as a human rights activist, an Islamic theologian and the designated successor to the Islamic revolution's Supreme Leader Khomeini until the very last moments of Khomeini's life -- said regarding the massacre: "I believe this is the greatest crime committed in the Islamic Republic since the [1979] revolution and history will condemn us for it.... History will write you down as criminals." Montazeri pleaded with Raisi and his colleagues to stop the executions: "It was first of [the Islamic holy month of] Muharram; I asked Mr. Nayyeri, Mr. Eshraqi, Mr. Raisi and Mr. Pourmohammadi, Now is Muharram; at least stop the executions during Muharram. Mr. Nayyeri said: We have so far executed 750 in Tehran and separated 200 as those persevering on their position. Let us finish them and then whatever you say, we shall do it." After overseeing the mass executions and brutally cracking down on opposition and dissidents, Raisi was promoted by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and later appointed to more high positions. These included the Prosecutor of Tehran, Chairman of the National Television Supervisory Council, head of the General Inspection Office, and as the Attorney General of the Islamic Republic. Finally, Khamenei appointed Raisi as the head of the regime's notorious judicial system. After his appointment, Raisi pointed out in a speech at the 23rd National Assembly of Revolutionary Guards Commanders and Officials in 2019: "We will not cut the fingers of those who are corrupt; we will cut off their entire hand." The U.S. Department of Treasury, on November 5, 2019, placed Raisi on its sanctions list. The Biden administration -- instead of enriching and empowering these tyrants -- needs to stand with the Iranian people, who for decades have been suffering under Iran's brutal and predatory regime. In this article, I am going to discuss two brand new discoveries that are radically shaking up how scientists view human history. Many of the experts are having a really tough time explaining these new discoveries, because they seem to directly contradict long established narratives that have been taught as “truth” to young students for decades. Unfortunately, we live at a time when narratives have become more important than facts, and scientific authorities have shown that they will go to great lengths to ensure that their most important narratives are carefully preserved. Last week, news that a “new species of ancient human” had been identified in China made headlines all over the globe. According to CBS News, the fossilized skull that has created such a fuss is “gigantic”… A gigantic fossilized skull that was hidden in a well in China for 90 years has just been discovered by scientists — and it’s making them rethink human evolution. The skull was originally found in 1933 by Chinese laborers building a bridge in Harbin, a northern Chinese city, during the Japanese occupation, researchers said. To prevent the skull from falling into Japanese hands, it was wrapped and hidden in an abandoned well. It was only rediscovered in 2018 when the old man who originally hid it told his grandson, shortly before his death. In order to support a “gigantic fossilized skull”, a body that is also “gigantic” in size would be required. In other words, what has been discovered in China is the skull of a giant, but nobody in the scientific community would ever dare to use that sort of terminology. After all, certain narratives must be maintained at all costs. But the skull is what it is. We are being told that it is “massive” and that it is “significantly larger than the modern human skull”… One of the most remarkable aspects of the Harbin cranium is its massive size, which, at 9 inches long and more than 6 inches wide, is significantly larger than the modern human skull. Unfortunately, most news outlets in the United States are carefully avoiding any discussion about what the rest of the body of this creature must have looked like everyone though one paleoanthropologist is openly admitting that “the massive head should match a height higher than the average of modern humans”… The researchers believe the skull belonged to a male, about 50 years old, who would have been an impressive physical specimen. His wide, bulbous nose allowed him to breathe huge volumes of air, indicating a high-energy lifestyle, while sheer size would have helped him withstand the brutally cold winters in the region. “Homo longi is heavily built, very robust,” said Prof Xijun Ni, a paleoanthropologist at Hebei. “It is hard to estimate the height, but the massive head should match a height higher than the average of modern humans.” It only makes sense that a “gigantic” head should go with an equally “gigantic” body, but the scientific community will never, ever come out and tell us that evidence of “giants” has been found. Instead, they will just keep adjusting their established narratives to try to fit with the new evidence. In this case, Chinese scientists are trying to claim that this is a “new species” of humans that has never been discovered before… In three papers in the year-old journal The Innovation, paleontologist Qiang Ji of Hebei GEO University and his team call the new species Homo longi. (Long means dragon in Mandarin.) They also claim the new species belongs to the sister group of H. sapiens, and thus, an even closer relative of humans than Neanderthals. Other scientists disagree and are insisting that the skull that has been found in China comes from a Denisovan… A number of anatomical features tantalizingly suggest Dragon Man may be a Denisovan, such as extremely large molars and the lack of a third molar, Stringer said. “I think I’d stick my neck out and propose that [the skull] is Denisovan until otherwise proven,” Dennell said. Paleoanthropologist Matthew Tocheri at Lakehead University in Canada, who did not participate in this study, agreed, saying, “If it walks like a Denisovan and talks like a Denisovan…” And that may actually be the case, because the Denisovans were giants as well. The reason why Denisovans had “extremely large molars” is because they had extremely large heads, and those extremely large heads were supported by extremely large bodies. Interestingly, scientists in Israel also just discovered a “new species” of humans that had “very large teeth”… Nesher Ramla Homo — named after the place southeast of Tel Aviv where it was found — may have lived alongside our species, Homo sapiens, for more than 100,000 years, and may have even interbred, according to the findings. The early humans, who had very large teeth and no chin, may have also been ancestors of the Neanderthals, the study added, challenging the current thinking that our evolutionary cousins originated in Europe. Needless to say, we already know that giants once lived in that part of the world. In fact, one particularly famous giant that lived in the region was named “Goliath”. But scientists will never admit the truth, because they have trained us to regard those stories as “myths”. So they will never, ever make any connection between the discoveries that they are making and Genesis chapter 6… And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. If we refuse to accept the truth about our past, that will make it far more difficult to understand our future. Anyone that is intellectually honest should be willing to follow the evidence wherever it leads. Unfortunately, free thinking has been brutally repressed in academic circles today, and serious deviations from established narratives are simply not tolerated. 17th of Tammuz: Priests Train for ‘Tamid Sacrifice Offering for 3rd Temple Service – Adam Eliyahi Berkowitz - https://www.israel365news.com/194283/17th-of-tammuz-priests-train-for-tamid-sacrifice-offering-for-3rd-temple-service-watch/ You shall offer one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight. Numbers 28:4 (The Israel BibleTM) While Jews around the world fasted on Sunday, the 17th day of the Hebrew month Tammuz, a group of less than 50 gathered in Mitzpe Jericho to witness a dry-run of the Korban Tamid, the twice-daily sacrifice performed in the temple. The 17th of Tammuz commemorates the breach of the walls of Jerusalem before the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. It is also the day that Jewish tradition teaches that Moses destroyed the two tablets of the Ten Commandments after descending from Mount Sinai and discovering the Children of Israel engaged in the Sin of the Golden Calf. THE PROPHET ZECHARIAH PREDICTS The fast in Tammuz, the fourth month of the Hebrew Calendar, is mentioned by the Prophet Zechariah who predicts that in the Messianic era, it will change from a day of austerity into a day of celebration: Thus said the lord of Hosts: The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth month, the fast of the seventh month, and the fast of the tenth month shall become occasions for joy and gladness, happy festivals for the House of Yehuda; but you must love honesty and integrity. Zechariah 8:19 Several tragedies befell the Jewish people on the 17th of Tammuz but one that stands out was the cessation of the Korban Tamid during the three-year period when Jerusalem was under siege by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar prior to the destruction of the Temple. As such, the Temple movements chose that day to perform a reenactment of the Korban Tamid service at Mitzpeh Yericho where a full-size altar was erected for such events. A wooden model of the golden altar used for incense was also erected. The event was held late in the afternoon, close to sunset when the evening daily sacrifice was brought. A FULL REENACTMENT INCLUDING THE SLAUGHTER OF LAMB Rabbi Baruch Kahane, who serves as the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) at many of the reenactments, insisted that a full reenactment including the slaughter of lamb and the arrangement of its pieces would only take place if the minimum complement of 15 priests were present. Unfortunately, this was not the case so Rabbi Kahane was not in attendance. A lamb was included for illustrative purposes but was not slaughtered. Since King David established the altar on the Temple Mount, Jews may only bring actual sacrifices at that site. The rituals may only be performed by Kohanim, male descendants of Aaron the priest. Though all of Israel is considered ritually impure, time-bound public sacrifices such as the Korban Tamid, may be brought in a state of ritual impurity. The necessary implements for the service stand ready and the only thing preventing the beginning of the Temple service is the Israeli government’s objection to Jewish rituals being carried out on the Temple Mount. Rabbi Mordechai Persoof, the head of the Mikdash Educational Center, helped organize the event. He explained that a כבס (keves, lamb) must be less than one year old and, as the Hebrew word indicates, is a male. Rabbi Persoff also noted that in order to be used as a sacrifice, the lamb must be without blemish and since the lamb used for the demonstration had the government-mandated identifying ear tag, it was disqualified for use as an actual sacrifice. AN “ANIMALISTIC SOUL PULLING” “When a man sins, it is his animalistic soul pulling him,” Rabbi Persoff said. “When a Jew brings a sin offering, he places his hands on the animal’s head and presses down. Through the sacrifices, we acknowledge our animal nature. But we also demonstrate our intention to overcome this animal nature, to show that we are in charge of dedicating our entire self to the service of God.” Rabbi Persoff emphasized that the Korban was offered by the priests in an area of the Temple that was inaccessible to the other tribes but representatives of the tribes had to be present. The ritual was then demonstrated without any harm being done to the lamb. A special vessel for catching the blood was filled with colored water and the proper sprinklings on the altar were performed. Josh Wander, a correspondent for Israel365 News, was impressed with the turnout. “About 49 people showed up on a fast day and stood in the heat in order to take part,” Wander said. Wander noted that throughout the total of 830 years that the two temples stood, the ritual of the Tamid sacrifice was only interrupted twice when the temples were destroyed. “There is a tradition from Rabbi Elijah ben Solomon Zalman (an 18th century Torah scholar known as the Vilna Gaon) that after the Temple service will be restarted the third time, it will never be interrupted again.” ‘EVERY REENACTMENT COMES CLOSER’ Rabbi Hillel Weiss, the former spokesman for the Sanhedrin, has been involved with these Temple reenactments for many years. “Every reenactment comes closer, teaches us more of what we need to know to bring back the service forever,” Rabbi Weiss said. “But each reenactment becomes even more difficult, raising up unprecedented obstacles.” He noted that the annual Passover reenactment, the highlight of the year, was canceled twice due to the pandemic. “As more people support the events, it generates political and spiritual opposition,” Rabbi Weiss said. “Technically, we could go up to the Temple Mount right now and begin the service. All of the necessary elements stand ready. We are preparing several options for each element to make this possible. But it is not our intention to make a provocative political statement. The Temple is the source of peace, not conflict. It is the result of ideological subversion. Woke, but not awake. God help us! Bezmenov said ideological subversion takes four stages. The first stage, demoralization, which takes 15-30 years according to Bezmenov, was completed before 1985. The second stage, also completed, is destabilization. This is where people destabilize the entire nation through actions that are counter to common sense and sound practices. The third stage is creating crisis. And the fourth stage is normalization. Bezmenov said that the leftists that help create these stages are the first to be executed by a communist dictatorship because once they find out they have perpetrated a lie, they become the most ardent opposition. Those who stand against communism by warning others are also executed. Bezmenov said that the Soviets used brainwashed leftists to teach Marxism-Leninism ideology to several generations of American students. He said that these teachings included feminism, sexual liberation, hedonism, anti-war sentiments, liberation theology, and globalism. He said these students are now the people who are the business, religious, political, educational, media, and entertainment leaders of American society. He said, “You are stuck with them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli…You cannot change their mind, even if you expose them to authentic information…the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible.” Sound familiar? Bezmenov said it’s difficult to reverse this process. He said, “There must be a very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of real patriotism, number one. Number two, to explain to them the real danger of socialist, communist, welfare state, big brother government…The moment at least part of the United States population is convinced that the danger is real, they have to force their government…to stop aiding communism.” I will add another way to reverse the process: Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” And Ephesians 6:20, “…that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” The very real threat of communism occurs when there is an absence of God. I think that’s how Peter felt when He saw Jesus’s transfiguration on the mountaintop. He wanted to say something profound, something insightful. But instead he said, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” (Matthew 17:4 NKJV). One reason Peter spoke up, according to Mark’s gospel, is that “he did not know what to say” (Mark 9:6 NKJV). Another reason is that he was “heavy with sleep” (Luke 9:32 NKJV). I wonder if Moses or Elijah turned to Jesus and said, “Who is that exactly?” The Bible tells us that while Peter was still speaking, God actually spoke from Heaven. The Father addressed the situation and said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matthew 17:5 NKJV). It appears that God the Father personally rebuked Peter. Now, that’s significant. First Jesus rebuked him at Caesarea Philippi and then he’s rebuked by the Father. That would be enough to ruin your decade, wouldn’t it? But Peter was resilient. He came back stronger and learned from his mistakes. The Bible reminds us, “For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child” (Hebrews 12:6 NLT). When the Lord takes the time to rebuke you, to convict you, or to show you that you’re doing something wrong, it isn’t because He hates you. Rather, it’s because He loves you.
