If I did not believe in the Rapture and the following seven-year tribulation, that would not deter me from anticipating God’s judgment on America at some point in the near future. Because Scripture teaches Jesus’ imminent appearing followed by the wrath of the day of the Lord, I am all the more certain that the U.S. now rests in God’s crosshairs.
 
After reviewing a chapter in her husband’s book on the evil in America at the time, Ruth Graham replied, “Billy, if God doesn't come soon and bring judgment upon the United States, He's going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!" Wickedness in the U.S. has grown exponentially in the decades since then.
 
The words Job spoke long ago still ring true today and certainly apply to God’s sovereignty over all nations:
 
He makes nations great, and he destroys them;
he enlarges nations, and leads them away. (Job 12:23)
 
With these things in mind, let’s look at a couple Old Testament passages regarding ancient Judah that we can apply to the U.S. and other nations across the globe as well.
 
SIGNS THAT GOD’S JUDGMENT HAS ALREADY BEGUN
 
Has the Lord already begun to take action against the U.S.? Yes, I believe He has.
 
One passage that speaks to me in this regard is Isaiah 3:4-5, a passage of warning to ancient Judah and Jerusalem:
 
And I will make boys their princes, / and infants shall rule over them. / And the people will oppress one another, / everyone his fellow / and every one his neighbor; / the youth will be insolent to the elder, / and the despised to the honorable.
 
Let’s examine how these verses might apply to the United States.
 
1. IMMATURE LEADERSHIP
 
The Hebrew word for “boys” in Isaiah 3:4 suggests a young lad or perhaps a servant. In this context, it denotes an immaturity of leadership that the Lord said would characterize those in charge of Judah ahead of His judgment falling on the nation.
 
One could translate “infants” in verse 4 as “malicious young men,” or even tyrants. This signifies the inexperience of a child or babe who rules by selfish inclinations or perhaps the whim of the moment. Its usage includes the evil motives of those in positions of authority.
 
These words aptly characterize those in charge of the United States at the present moment. President Biden’s dementia makes him appear childish as he stumbles through sentences that make no sense whatsoever, expresses fear of disappointing those who control him, and behaves in a bizarre manner (or talks about it). Other nations recognize his diminished mental capacity. Vice President Harris lacks any semblance of maturity; it would be an unmitigated disaster should she become president.
 
The executive orders that have come from the White House since Biden took office reflect an evil and totally unbiblical world view. In many ways they reflect the “malicious” intent that the Lord said would characterize the immature leaders of Judah as His judgment drew near.
 
2. DIVISION
 
The picture in Isaiah 3:5 is that of a land where people fight against and oppress each other with the youth acting with brazen disrespect toward the older generation. It goes without saying that this describes America today. Just as with ancient Judah, I see this as an indication that the Lord’s judgment has begun.
 
Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand (Matthew 12:25). Does not this principle apply to such a splintered nation as we see in the United States? So many of those in high elected offices seem intent on using division as a means of destroying America.
 
The “perilous times” that the apostle Paul describes in 1 Timothy 3:1-5 denote selfish arrogant people living for themselves with no regard for others. The results of these traits automatically lead to much strife and disharmony, which sadly characterizes life both inside and outside the church today.
 
WICKED BEHAVIOR THAT GOD WILL NOT ALLOW TO CONTINUE
 
In addition to the indicators that the Lord’s judgment on the United States has already begun, we also see evil behavior about which the Bible warns God will absolutely not allow to continue without at some point intervening to stop.
 
Habakkuk is a book that speaks to us today. The prophet’s complaint in Habakkuk 1:2-4 provides us with a list of items that possess a remarkable similarity to life in the United States.
 
O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, / and you will not hear? / Or cry to you “Violence!” / and you will not save? / Why do you make me see iniquity, / and why do you idly look at wrong? / Destruction and violence are before me; / strife and contention arise. / So the law is paralyzed, / and justice never goes forth. / For the wicked surround the righteous; / so justice goes forth perverted.
 
Let’s examine how these things fit with our world.
 
1. VIOLENCE
 
In America, we now have the most pro-abortion administration in our history. The horrors of the senseless murder of our most vulnerable grieve my heart. Will not the Lord hold our nation accountable as we continue to elect Congressman and Senators who not only actively promote abortion, but also refuse to outlaw infanticide for babies who survive the horrors of abortion? He absolutely will.
 
The carnage in America extends far beyond the river of blood that flows from our abortion death mills. The violence propagated against children via sex trafficking is mind boggling, it’s horrific! The Lord will surely judge all those involved in this abomination, which the Biden administration has made far worse with their open border policy.
 
2. DESTRUCTION AND VIOLENCE
 
Habakkuk reemphasized the “destruction and violence” that confronted him in ancient Judah.
 
In America, I see far more violence than that of the murder of the unborn or that propagated against our children in sex trafficking. The destruction and bloodshed in our major cities increase by the day. A few weeks ago in Chicago, thugs pulled a Hispanic couple from a car and shot them. Law and order have all but vanished from our major cities. Murder rates in large cities in the U.S. have skyrocketed due to efforts to defund our police, which have been propagated solely by the Democratic party.
 
3. INIQUITY
 
The prophet Habakkuk also complained that the Lord caused him to see much wickedness with apparently no action to end it (v. 3). Why did He seemingly look the other way?
 
As for America in the twenty-first century, this almost needs no comment. I never thought I would see so much evil behavior and lawlessness before the rapture. The influence of the LBGTQ agenda on our children is beyond despicable. It begs this question: Why do we as a nation continue to elect men and women who wholly support the wicked agenda of the LBGTQ and openly promote transgenderism for seven-year-old children? 
 
Behavior that would have outraged the majority of Americans sixty years ago has now become commonplace and accepted by many as normal. We see the words of Romans 1:18-32 springing to life. As God gives the wicked over to increased forms of depravity, many have reached the end that Paul talks about in verse 32, “Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” This is life among so many in the U.S. today.
 
4. INJUSTICE
 
The words of Habakkuk 1:4 perfectly portray life in the U.S., “So the law is paralyzed, / and justice never goes forth. / For the wicked surround the righteous; / so justice goes forth perverted.”
 
Although these words speak to conditions in ancient Judah, it’s as if the prophet was depicting life in the twenty-first century.
 
Due to the fact that thefts under $950 are no longer prosecuted in San Francisco, California, looting has become commonplace. Stores in the city no longer report stealing to the police and store clerks do not dare risk their lives to stop it. Many retailers are going out of business or closing shop as of the widespread stealing. Target recently reported that they are closing all stores in the area at 6 p.m. as a result.
 
In America, many of the guilty are set free or never charged for their crimes. On the other hand, people lose their jobs or face lawsuits for defending what the Bible says about marriage and sexuality. The rich and powerful never face the consequences for their criminal behavior for which less influential people spend years in jail for crimes that the elite commit with not repercussions.
 
THE SEVEN-YEAR TRIBULATION IS AT OUR DOORSTEP
 
The Lord’s response to what He sees in the U.S. would most likely be quite similar to what he told Habakkuk. Then, God assured His prophet that He indeed saw the wickedness and bloodshed and that judgment was already on the way in the form of the Chaldeans (the Babylonians) who would later destroy Jerusalem and the temple. This occurred a decade or two later, perhaps while the prophet was still alive.
 
Skipping ahead to the twenty-first century, the Lord indeed sees the bloodshed, deception, oppression, and vileness rampant in the U.S. And I believe He will intervene much sooner than most imagine; His answer is already on the way. He will not let wickedness of our day continue unchecked.
 
Scripture assures us that God will someday pour out His wrath on sinful humanity in what it refers to as the day of the Lord. The book of Revelation adds more detail to this time in what we refer to as the tribulation, a seven-year time of horror upon the earth.
 
The New Testament assures believers, however, that the Lord will take us home to heaven before the start of this time of wrath upon the earth. In 1 Thessalonians 1:10 and 5:9-10, the apostle Paul confirms that Jesus will come for His Church before the onset of the terrible day of the Lord (see Isaiah 13:9-13; 24:3-20), which includes all of the tribulation period.
 
How much longer will the Lord’s patience endure in view of the senseless bloodshed and exceeding wickedness that grows worse by the day? How much more distress will we see before our departure from this world?
 
I do not know the answer to these questions.
 
I am certain, however, that judgment is coming. Evil people might enjoy success for a little while longer, but God will have the final word (Psalm 37:7-15). He always does.
 
Please know as believers, our hope rests in Jesus’ imminent appearing (Titus 2:11-14; John 14:1-3). As we see God’s judgment start to fall on the nations of the world, we rest in His promise to deliver us before He pours out His wrath on the Christ-rejecting world (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10).
 
It would be very wrong to set a date for the Rapture, but one would be equally mistaken to assume that it will not happen in the very near future.

When Adam and Eve first sinned in the Garden of Eden by eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, thankfully the Lord protected the human race by placing a cherubim to guard another nearby tree—the Tree of Life.
 
Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever” Gen. 3:22
 
So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life. Gen. 3:24
 
God knew that if Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Life, they would have lived for eternity in that sinful, unredeemable state.
 
And since Adam's sin nature was passed to all humans throughout time (Rom. 5:12), the Lord was also protecting all future humans from being born into an unredeemable state.
 
This way Jesus could come from heaven and pay the ultimate price to redeem us with His blood shed on Calvary.
 
The last thing anyone on this earth wants is to live eternally in a body with unredeemed sin because that means you're going to hell.
 
God is clear—only those born again, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, go to heaven to live joyously forever. Your only other option is eternity in hell.
 
How Bad Is Hell?
 
I've had more than one person tell me "Yeah, I know I'm headed to hell, but at least I'll be there with all my friends."
 
Just saying that proves they've simply been duped by the great liar Satan. Truth is, those who are not born again will spend eternity wailing and gnashing their teeth in eternal hot flames. They won't have a clue where their friends are.
 
Hell is referred to as:
 
> "fiery hell" Luke 16:24
> "lake of fire" Rev. 20:13-14
> "burns with fire" Rev. 21:8
> "place of torment" Luke 16:28
> "eternal punishment" Matt. 25:46
> "the fire is not quenched" Mark 9:48
> "tormented day and night forever" Rev 20:10
 
There IS life after death. And certainly going to hell is something you want to avoid at all cost. Since our sin nature prohibits us from entering heaven, many people would love to have a way to enjoy immortality without first bowing to the Creator God of the Universe.
 
TODAY'S ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
 
Recently I watched a creepy 2 minute video of some robots dancing to the classic song, "Do You Love Me, Now That I Can Dance."(2)
 
When I say creepy, I mean this video really spooked me out. These robots had human-like moves. It made my skin crawl.
 
But it shows you how far mankind has progressed making computers human-like. I mean it's one thing to strap on a mask that takes you into another surreal world, which is creepy enough.
 
But it's a whole new ballgame when the robot is physically in the room with you...say reading the morning newspaper so it can converse intelligently with you about the weather or the day's events. But believe it or not that's where we are.
 
Scientists are moving quickly now that they have unlocked our DNA, our God-ordained design, and began manipulating exactly who we are and how we operate.
 
Today's scientists refer to our DNA as our operating system and see no problem with changing the software. They're literally changing us, currently through mass vaccinations, to be more like what they think people should be like. Trust me, it's not meant to make us closer to God.
 
AI and ETERNITY
 
Just like in the time of construction of the Tower of Babel, mankind has reached a point of doing whatever he can imagine.
 
The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. Gen. 11:6
 
The "same language" today is achieved by computers. And it seems that nothing is impossible, the sky's the limit of what we can do. God warned us about this:
 
“But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.” Dan. 12:4
 
I think we're definitely in the time of "increased knowledge." And nothing is off the table in the future.
 
Did you know the ultimate goal of artificial intelligence is to reach the point where humans can have eternal life? (1) Yep, Satan is so good with his lies that he has all these Globalists believing they can avoid hell altogether.
 
These people are planning to go from hooking our bodies directly into the Internet to measure health, location and bank accounts, to hooking our brains up to machines where we think commands into action.
 
It's not a stretch to go from there to having everything in your brain copied and living forever in a robot.
 
They honestly believe one day they'll be able to skirt judgment, live forever without God, and/or miss the "go to hell penalty" part.
 
Just like Satan lied and said to Eve, "You don't have to die, you can live forever—just eat the fruit!," the Globalists/Satanists will lie with another irresistible offer—"You don't have to die, you can live forever, just take this little mark."
 
But there's a huge problem.
 
Whatever part of humans they manage to hook into machines, they'll be trying to live forever in their sinful, unredeemed life.
 
Believers recognize this is a lie because no one can skip God's final judgment. But soon we'll be gone, having vanished into thin air at the Rapture. Wholesale evil will follow.
 
However, I can promise that regardless of what they claim they'll be able to do, it'll all come crashing down on them on God's Judgment Day. There is no escape.
 
And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. Rev. 20:12
 
Since God says there are none righteous (Rom.3:23), and all our works are as filthy rags (Is.64:6), Judgment Day for the non-Believers won't go well. And there is no appeal or some liberal judge to bail them out.
 
Behold, I am coming quickly [suddenly], and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. Rev. 22:12
 
So even though these yoyos will buy into Satan's lie that they can circumvent God's provision for eternal life, they will still have to stand in their sinful bodies before a righteous God.
 
Oh, they may receive some short-term kudos in this life from like-minded humans. But God's Judgment Day IS coming and it'll wipe the smirk off their faces forever.
 
Make no bones about it, God's getting ready to judge this wicked earth with His wrath from heaven. He even put in writing what is, and is not, sin. You can ignore God's commandments, but you'll pay a horrible price.
 
One day the Rapture will happen, we just don't know for sure when. Could be minutes or days away, or it could be in the 2030s. But when it happens, it'll pave the way for His judgment to come on this earth.
 
When God's wrath is finished 7 long years after the Rapture, only a "few" will be left on earth (Is.24:6). Billions will have died from starvation, fire, and disease in the first 3 1/2 years. Then in the second 3 1/2 years it gets really bad.
 
And those who thought they could live forever hooked up to machines, I wonder how they'll do without electricity? When the mountains of the world are shaken to the ground, there will be no electric grid.
 
But it will usher in true World Peace with Jesus ruling on His Throne in Jerusalem. And the Tree of Life that God protected us from 6000 years ago, because of our faith in what Jesus did, He'll give us full access to it.
 
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Rev. 22:14
 
And we'll live forever in unimaginable beauty and peace, eternally grateful for Jesus' faithfulness in permanently redeeming us from our sinful bodies.

One of the ways the global cabal is attempting to implement The Great Reset and the Fourth Industrial Revolution is by putting global supply chains at risk to bring the economy to its knees. The narrative being sold to the public goes like this. The new wave of COVID-19 infections caused by various Greek-letter variants, major disruptions due to natural disasters (attributed to climate change), and cyber-attacks targeting key industries are causing worker shortages and the inability for ships and other major transport systems to reach their destinations.
 
This "shortage" of workers and goods such as food and computer chips plays right into globalist stooges' hands. As prices skyrocket, the economy will further deteriorate and panic will rule the day. People desperate for basic necessities will turn to looting and violence which will give governments a new excuse to lockdown and subdue their populations.
 
The true narrative points to global forces using these unfolding calamities as the perfect convergence of manufactured "problem-reaction-solution" scenarios. These "existential" crises are deliberately put in motion to move the world towards global governance based on the UN (Agenda 2030) Sustainable Development goals, a new blockchain based financial system, and a China-like surveillance state.
 
Pandemics, climate change, cyber terror, and manufactured supply shortages are trojan horses used to remove individual rights, destroy nations and governments, and push people into a new technocratic society.
 
All of these events allow governments to implement "emergency" measures while consolidating more power. As these scenarios play out, control mechanisms such as biometric surveillance, smart technology, social credit, Universal Basic Income, mandatory vaccination, and digital ID/wallet systems are steadily materializing.
 
A new article in the Insurance Journal provides details to the changes rapidly taking place as the global supply chain is threatened. The article states:
 
Events have conspired to drive global supply chains towards breaking point, threatening the fragile flow of raw materials, parts and consumer goods, according to companies, economists and shipping specialists.
 
The Delta variant of the coronavirus has devastated parts of Asia and prompted many nations to cut off land access for sailors. That's left captains unable to rotate weary crews and about 100,000 seafarers stranded at sea beyond their stints in a flashback to 2020 and the height of lockdowns.
 
Meanwhile, deadly floods in economic giants China and Germany have further ruptured global supply lines that had yet to recover from the first wave of the pandemic, compromising trillions of dollars of economic activity that rely on them.
 
Manufacturing industries are reeling.
 
Automakers, for example, are again being forced to stop production because of disruptions caused by COVID-19 outbreaks. Toyota Motor Corp said this week it had to halt operations at plants in Thailand and Japan because they couldn't get parts.
 
Buckling supply chains are hitting the United States and China, the world's economic motors that together account for more 40% of global economic output. This could lead to a slowdown in the global economy, along with rising prices for all manner of goods and raw materials.
 
Ports across the globe are suffering the kinds of logjams not seen in decades, according to industry players.
 
The China Port and Harbour Association said on Wednesday that freight capacity continued to be tight.
 
A cyber attack hit South African container ports in Cape Town and Durban this week, adding further disruptions at the terminals.
 
If all that were not enough, in Britain the official health app has told hundreds of thousands of workers to isolate following contact with someone with COVID-19 -- leading to supermarkets warning of a short supply and some petrol stations closing.
 
Richard Walker, managing director of supermarket group Iceland Foods, turned to Twitter to urge people not to panic buy.
 
"We need to be able to supply stores, stock shelves and deliver food," he wrote.
 
Another recent article from The Conversation details how extensive the shortages are, stating:
 
It expands to include a whole range of products like lumber and other building materials, tools, foodstuffs, seeds, furniture, cleaning supplies, aluminum cans, jars, pools and pool equipment, chemicals, bicycles, camping gear, household appliances and replacement parts of all kinds.
 
In many cases supply chains have been simultaneously squeezed on both ends -- supply and demand.
 
The empty store shelves that dotted the landscape at the beginning of last year's plandemic is only a taste of what is to come. Manufactured famine would be the perfect way to introduce complete control of the food supply.
 
The ultimate goal is to eliminate meat-eating and increase consumption of GMO crops and synthetic food as only a few major corporations would control the entire world's food supply. This is why Bill Gates is now the largest landowner in the U.S.
 
Recently, there have already been major "cyber attacks" by mysterious hacker groups on a major U.S. gasoline pipeline (Colonial) and global food supplier (JBS). The power grid failure in Texas this past February created shortages of water, food, and heat for short periods, but caused much devastation and even death.
 
In March, a container ship blocked both lanes of the Suez Canal and kept vessels from crossing for an entire week leading to inflated oil prices and long shipping delays. Current drought conditions in the western United States exacerbated by wildfires and extreme high temperatures are ruining vegetation and impacting the water supply.
 
These events along with a "cyber pandemic" could easily trigger a worldwide crisis. World Economic Forum frontman and globalist Klaus Schwab has warned of an event to come that could make the coronavirus "pandemic" seem like a small disturbance.
 
The World Economic Forum sponsored Cyber Polygon events have been creating simulations of massive cyber-attacks that could completely disrupt finance, global trade, power grids, and life as we know it.

China is in the process of expanding the "social credit" system they have been rolling out in phases since 2014.
 
Much like what we have for our financial credit ratings, China's "social credit" system attaches a positive point value to behavior that the government views as praiseworthy (showing integrity, responsibility and/or trustworthiness) and a negative point value for behavior it wants to discourage. "Bad" behavior includes spending too much time playing video games, not caring for aging parents, poor driving, jaywalking, not paying one's debts and, of course, criticizing the government.
 
The enormity of this effort is impossible to overstate. Chinese companies (and foreign companies authorized to do business in China) collect massive amounts of data on Chinese people from their cellphone and internet use and turn it over to the Chinese government. Dozens of government agencies share data and information with each other. Hundreds of millions of surveillance cameras watch Chinese people in cities across the country (with hundreds of millions more to come). Advanced facial recognition technology and complex algorithms assist in determining the identity of those being surveilled in public places. And, of course, there are the "informers" – members of the local community who report the good and bad conduct of their neighbors and co-workers to authorities.
 
Eventually, every Chinese citizen over a certain age will have a "social credit" score.
 
The consequences of a low social credit score are serious. Those with low scores are "blacklisted" and denied travel benefits, including access to visas or even the ability to buy plane or train tickets. They can be denied employment or promotions at work. Their children can be denied access to the best schools and universities. Their names and faces are often placed prominently on public billboards to "name and shame" them.
 
Chinese people interviewed by Western news organizations defended the social credit system, claiming that it will produce more responsible people and a better society. This is perhaps unsurprising, as China does not have the individualist culture America does. But then, the Chinese know that their social credit score may well go down if they do criticize the system, so one may have to take the glowing reviews with a grain of salt.
 
However, Americans should not just shrug off these oppressive initiatives as something that could only happen in China. For one thing, a significant amount of the surveillance technology used by China's Communist government was developed and provided by American companies. These are names we know and recognize, including Seagate, Intel and HP Inc., among others.
 
If the technology can be used there, it can be used here for the same purposes.
 
That should concern us, especially given other trends we are seeing here in the United States. The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have brought out the statist authoritarianism in many of our government officials – and much of the citizenry. Every day, we see more calls for social compliance on pain of sanctions.
 
Information about the efficacy of COVID vaccines and the need for masks are two good examples of why this trend is so dangerous. We cannot seem to get solid, verifiable information on either. Just this week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shifted gears yet again on the need for vaccinated individuals to wear masks and the need for K-12 children to wear masks in schools. Just two weeks ago, we were assured that masks were not necessary because the vaccines are effective. Now, we are being told that the vaccines are effective, but that masks are necessary anyway. But we are not being shown the data that allegedly supports the ever-changing "consensus." Dr. Sanjay Gupta stated on CNN, "this is data that has not even been published yet."
 
And yet, despite the capriciousness of the government's official party line on all things COVID, social and broadcast media are rife with videos of public shaming of non-mask wearers, and calls to "make life hard" for those who will not (or cannot) take the vaccine, including refusing access to public places like restaurants and sports arenas and even denial of medical treatment. Public and private employers across the U.S. are mandating the vaccine, and dozens of lawsuits have been filed by Americans who have already been fired for not getting it.
 
Just last week, the White House announced that they were calling on Facebook and other Big Tech social media companies to censor what President Joe Biden calls "misinformation" about COVID vaccines and the virus itself. But those same social media companies (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) have already been actively censoring accurate information about COVID that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the CDC and Democrats wanted suppressed; specifically, evidence supporting the theory that the virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. And this is in addition to censoring other accurate information when it promotes conservative political ideas or casts unfavorable light on favorite Democrat politicians. Facebook and Twitter conveniently banned news stories about Biden's son Hunter and the damning information on his laptop right before the November 2020 presidential election.
 
And there's more. Since the 2020 election – and the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol – there has been an active attempt by the Democratic Party and their lap dogs in the press to smear all Trump supporters as "racists," "extremists," "white supremacists," "domestic terrorists" and "the insurrectionist next door." In such a climate, it is even more concerning when the FBI asks people to start reporting family members, neighbors and friends whose beliefs or behavior are "suspicious." And Americans are doing just that.

Along about 1962, Dad and my brother Chuck got into the horse and cattle business a little bigger and more seriously. They experimented with the types of horses they bought and tried to find out exactly what niche they wanted to occupy. Chuck wanted fast horses for timed events. He and Dad went out to Missouri on a horse buying mission and came back with a handful of horses. One was a mare named Ricochet. She was Missouri State Champion in the pole bends—a timed event where horse and rider weave in and out of six vertical poles set in a straight line 21 feet apart. She was speed to breed and to boost the Wilson reputation at the horse shows. But then there was Speckles.
 
Speckles was an Appaloosa stallion. He must have been a cross between a draft horse and an Appaloosa. Back then, breeders were trying to perfect the Appaloosa breed. They wanted height. They bred the shorter spotted Nez Perce-type ponies with the bigger, taller draft horses. Then they wanted agility. They bred the taller offspring with stockier cow-pony horses. Then they wanted speed, so there was once again an evolution to cross these larger, agile horses with Quarter Horses. Well, Speckles was somewhere on the spectrum of all that 1950s-1960s Appaloosa genetic engineering. I think my Dad was fascinated with the Appaloosa variety—he took great delight in seeing the colors and patterns of the new born foals. Speckles was a blue roan color with swaths of black, white and grey mixed in. I think that’s why Dad liked him.
 
Now Speckles was pretty special. He was a really gentile and calm horse for a stallion. He stood a tall, lanky 16-2 hands (66 inches). And one of the traits of those early Appaloosa was their big heads—something they acquired from cross breeding with the draft horses, but an undesirable trait. Speckles was blessed with the biggest head I have ever seen on a horse. No kidding. We could not find a bridle to fit him. We ended up using a breast collar—a strap of leather that goes across the chest of a horse connecting to each side of the saddle—and making it into a bridle. Speckles was fast. He was smart. He could be trusted for anyone to ride. Chuck decided to get his classy and proper recently-wed wife, Deedra, to ride Speckles one crisp morning. Deedra was not so enthusiastic about riding horses.
 
This particular morning Chuck talked her into “just taking a short ride down the driveway on Speckles.” It was no small sales job, but she finally agreed. Chuck carefully lifted Deedra up into the saddle and instructed her on what to do. Soon Speckles and Deedra were walking down the driveway. When they reached the end of the driveway, Chuck whistled. Speckles spun around on a dime and galloped full speed back to Chuck, Deedra screaming all the way! Everybody got a good laugh that morning, and Deedra, after changing her jeans and calming down, sort of saw the humor in it—I think. Proverbs 12:31 says, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.” I imagine that among her screams, Deedra called on the Lord that morning. And I bet it was nothing like the battle Chuck faced on the way home. And that’s the story of Speckles and Deedra.

There’s a difference between going to Disneyland with adults and going to Disneyland with kids. If you go with adults, all they want to do is eat. They don’t want to go on rides because they don’t like waiting in line. They also analyze everything.
 
On the other hand, if you go to Disneyland with kids, it’s a completely different experience. They’ll wait in line for that ride. And to them, everything is cool.
 
In the same way, a new believer can energize a more mature believer. When someone who’s new in the faith comes into a church and is excited about Jesus, it energizes the older believers.
 
At the same time, those new believers need more mature believers to disciple them. They’re discovering things for the first time. Maybe they have questions about what a Scripture passage means. As older believers start helping them, they, too, discover things they’ve forgotten. Their passion is being rekindled.
 
So not only does it benefit the new believers who are being discipled, but it also benefits those who are doing the discipling. That is why mature believers need an outlet. It’s called making disciples.
 
Jesus said, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20).
 
If you want to maintain passion and excitement in your spiritual life, then find some new believers and help them get on their feet spiritually. It will reengergize you.
 
Show me a church that doesn’t have a constant flow of new believers coming in, and I will show you a church that is stagnating.
 
True disciples will reproduce themselves.
