On July 4, 2023, Jean Worland ( [email protected] ) posted these words from Hal Lindsey:
 

• In Matthew 16:2-3, Jesus admonished us to discern the times. That means pay attention to what’s going on. Study and apply God’s word. And pray about everything. Today, we see signs of distress all over the world. We can see in real-time things the Bible long ago told us about. And it’s not pretty. Lawlessness, moral confusion, slander, deception, hedonism, uncontrolled rage, and cruelty fill our sightlines. These things are no longer theoretical events to be analyzed from a distance. They’re happening all around us, and it can be scary.

 
Jesus told us to watch the signs many times (Matt. 24:42-43; Mark 13:33-37; Luke 21:36; Rev. 3:3), but those that are not watching do not know or do not care.
 
Pay attention because “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (II Cor. 5:10).
 
The world needs to know what is going on, and it is the responsibility of the Church to speak out.
 
Here are some events that got my attention in recent days:
 
One, concerning the decline of America and world government: on July 4, 2023, highly respected World Net Daily (WND) journalist, Bob Unruh, wrote an article about Justin Haskins’ warning that America could lose its independence before the 2024 election.
 
Haskins is the director of the Socialism Research Center at The Heartland Institute, and his article was posted on a conservative web magazine called the Federalist.
 
According to Unruh, Haskins said:
 

• A proposal to give the UN great power to deal with “emergencies” could cause the U.S. as we know it to cease to exist.
• During an emergency (a natural disaster, a pandemic, whatever), the UN wants the authority to call an emergency and be given power over most of the world.
• The UN will be authorized to determine what is an emergency, when it begins, when it ends, and retain power over most of the world for as long as it wants.
• Instead of defending America’s independence and sovereignty, the Biden administration has already expressed support for this UN power grab.
• Declaring the end of the U.S. sounds dire, but it will be a fact come Sept. 2024 if people don’t stand up.

(Note: It is difficult to keep all the meetings, —UN, WHO, WEF, IMF —meeting dates, and agendas straight. Haskins wrote about what the UN is trying to do that will destroy the U.S. before the next election. There will be other meetings that could destroy the U.S. The thing to remember about all these groups and meetings is that world leaders are very close to establishing a world government.)
 
Here are some things I have written about in the past two months:
 
The World Health Organization (WHO) wants:
 

• A Global Code of Conduct.
• A Global Digital Passport.
• A Global Digital Currency.
• A Global Digital Health Record.
• A Global Digital Health Certification Network (GDHCN).

 
The World Economic Forum (WEF) wants:
 

• Holy Books written by AI.
• The International Monetary Fund (IMF) wants:
• A Global Digital Currency and Transaction Data.

 
The United Nations (UN) wants:
 

• A Global Digital ID linked to everyone’s bank account.
• A seven-year covenant with many to bring in a world government.

 
Emmanuel Macron wants:
 

• A Global Tax.

 
Unless God intervenes, the world is on the brink of a world government and the Tribulation Period.
 
People need to pay attention because where we spend eternity could be at stake.
 
The Church is running out of time to be salt and light.
 
(Personal note: Many times, I have said, “The day might come when things start happening so fast that it is impossible to keep up with them.” There are times when I think that day has arrived, and only part of what happens gets reported.)
 
Two, concerning the decline of America and a possible global economic collapse: on July 7, 2023, it was reported that Russia confirmed that the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) intend to start trading in a new currency backed by gold, and the official announcement will be made at the BRICS Summit in August.
 
Some officials predict that this will cause the value of the Dollar to plunge, cause a major surge in inflation in the U.S., eventually be seen as the beginning of the end of the Dollar, and send America’s superpower status on a downhill slide from which it will never recover.
 
I am not an economic expert, but it seems to me that there is no way for this to not have a negative impact on the global economy.
 
(Note: Several other nations are seeking to join the BRICS nations.)
 
Three, concerning the turmoil in Israel and its impact on Israel’s future: since January of 2023, there have been major riots and demonstrations in Israel over an upcoming vote on a bill to change Israel’s judiciary.
 
Israel’s top judges are appointed by other judges.
 
Liberal judges have taken over the judiciary.
 
They appoint liberal judges to always ensure a liberal majority on the court, and the liberal majority they appoint always votes to keep Israel a secular nation.
 
There are conservative Jews that want to worship on the Temple Mount, religious Jews that want to go back under the Mosaic Law (the first five books of the Bible, called the Torah or the Pentateuch), Jews that want to rebuild the Temple, resume the animal sacrifices, etc. But even if those conservative and religious Jews get the Israeli Knesset to pass a bill to do these things, the liberal judges can declare the bill illegal and kill it.
 
That is right; unelected liberal judges can overrule a majority vote of the elected officials, and they have angered many of the elected officials with their liberal votes.
 
The latest Netanyahu government is conservative.
 
It has the support of several religious parties.
 
Netanyahu’s government wants to pass a bill (called the Reasonableness Standard Bill) to take the power to appoint judges away from the liberal judges and empower the government to appoint judges.
 
In addition to that, if the Israeli Knesset passes a bill (after three readings and three votes) and the unelected judges declare it illegal, the Knesset wants the power to review the Judge’s decision and perhaps vote to overturn it or part of it, etc.
 
As I understand it, the ongoing riots and demonstrations in Israel are about two things:
 

• One, who makes the laws in Israel (the people’s elected representatives in the Knesset or a group of unelected liberal judges).
• Two, what kind of nation will Israel be in the future, a secular nation or a religious nation?

 
According to the Bible, Israel will go back under the Mosaic Law (the laws that God gave to Moses), they will rebuild the Temple, and they will resume the animal sacrifices.
 
(Note: Some orthodox Jews believe the Messiah will give them permission to rebuild the Temple. Based on John 5:43, some prophecy teachers believe the Jews will accept the Antichrist as the Messiah. They believe the covenant that is confirmed (strengthened) by the Antichrist will give the Jews permission to rebuild the Temple, and it will be rebuilt very early in the Tribulation Period. That will be after the Rapture, and Israel may be taking a turn in that direction now.)
 
Are you paying attention?
 
In addition to the riots and demonstrations being about whether Israel will be a secular nation or a religious nation in the future, here are two more events that I have written about in recent weeks.
 

• The Jews may soon have the ashes of a red heifer that will permit them to rebuild the Temple.
• A member of Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party has submitted a bill to divide the Temple Mount between Muslims and Jews so the Temple can be rebuilt.

 
The effort to rebuild the Temple appears to be slowly advancing.
 
(Update: On July 11, 2023, the Reasonableness Standard Bill passed in the Knesset by a vote of 64 to 56. If it passes a second and then a third vote, hopefully before the end of this month, it will become law in Israel. In that case, Israel will soon become more religious and less secular.)
 
Four, concerning persecution and the coming one-world religion: on July 10, 2023, the New American posted an article that said a UN-authorized report urges “governments to threaten and punish religious leaders and organizations that don’t go along with the LGBTQ orthodoxy.”
 
Right now, this appears to be just a recommendation, but the Bible teaches that extreme persecution and death await those that do not follow the anti-Christian globalist agenda during the Tribulation Period.
 
The U.S. pays 22% of the UN budget.
 
(More: A different article said the UN report condemns the anti-gay interpretation of Judeo-Christian scriptures, it celebrates religious groups that promote gay and transgender values, it says medical workers and institutions should be forced to perform abortions, transgender treatments, surgeries, etc.).
 
(My opinion: The LGBTQ agenda should not be considered superior to religious beliefs. Freedom of religion will not exist when people are forced to abandon the Scriptures and go along with the LGBTQ agenda. Authorizing the UN to tell people what they can and cannot believe in the Bible, Koran, on any other book is the same as establishing a new global religion. Forcing healthcare workers to perform abortions and mutilate the bodies of children is satanic.)
 
FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6).
 
Finally, are you Rapture Ready?
 
If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

Looking at the surface of evil in the world taking place, it appears that this world is out of control. No one can be faulted for having such a view of world conditions.
 
When we see things like young children being considered legal/legitimate fodder for sexual predators (now called “minor-attracted persons” instead of “pedophiles”), things really do look out of control.
 
When we see one of the two major political parties championing those who push agendas the MAP advocates embrace, what other conclusion can be drawn other than that this world has gone insane?
 
Without meaning to get political, in the sense of promoting one party over another, we remember a biblically pronounced end to this kind of turning one’s back on the God of Heaven.
 
During a convention a decade or so ago, when someone asked the Democrat Convention attendees whether God should be mentioned within the proceedings, the loud and definite answer by all in attendance was a resounding “No!” There was no doubt whatsoever that they wanted any mention of God left out of proceedings.
 
As I’ve mentioned numerous times, here is what God says about those who turn their backs on Him:
 
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those Things which are not convenient. (Romans 1:28)
 
Again, not intending to stray far into politics, what I see through the prism of God’s prophetic Word must be interjected here. Anyone being honest as they watch this presidential administration surely has questions like the following: How have we reached such a place in this nation that the top three people in the presidential administration are seemingly unable to demonstrate normal mental function?
 
These—the president, the vice president, and the press spokesperson—have actually become almost laughingstocks to observers outside their political party, their leftist ideology, and the mainstream media (which, mentioning in the same breath is perhaps redundant). Their mental acuity is, it seems to me, inadequate to the challenge in addressing legitimate issues on the national and international scene.
 
These are avid adherents of the platform presented by the political party that verbally shouted God out of their midst.
 
Of course, kicking God out of anything isn’t possible with the omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent God of Heaven. To that end, He continues to have that anti-God party in “derision,” just as He indicated He will do to anyone against Him:
 
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.” He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.” (Psalms 2:2–4)
 
A careful dissection of things going on over recent years shows time after time that the Lord has intervened to slow down the Ephesians 6:12 minions, both demonic and human, in their effort to hurry the process of bringing Antichrist to the end-times world stage.
 
One of the signals the Restrainer was involved in during the American political process is illustrated, I believe, by the following observation from one prophecy writer:
 
Apparently, the evil forces behind these arenas of the falling away believe that as long as America stands, their cause will not climax in victory. Thus, we see a concentrated effort to bring America down to an entity without sovereignty.
 
One cannot deny the true meaning of that statement muttered by President Obama at the annual DC Correspondents’ Dinner on April 30, 2016: “The end of the Republic has never looked better!” He was so caught up with anticipation that Hillary Clinton would be the winner of the 2016 presidential election that he could not contain himself. Thus, the goal of destroying the United States from her perch at the top of the nations is Satan’s plan in his drive to pose as God in the place of the God of the universe…
 
Topple the United States and the whole world will go down. Why? America is the only nation which allows its citizens the freedom of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” as individual rights coming from God, not the state. That arrangement just cannot be allowed by those who envision a New World Order and a one-world government where no such freedom is planned—except for the elite. The Lord intervened in that 2016 presidential election in ways that drove those thinking they had things that would “fundamentally transform America” insane and spewing every sort of vitriol against the candidate who won that election. And the insanity continues to this moment, as indeed, the anti-America-as-founded forces seem to be making significant headway in their drive to fundamentally change this nation.
 
Despite the growing wickedness that certainly must make this like the days of Lot in Sodom in the holy eyes of God, His judgment and wrath continue to build, reserved for that promised “twinkling of an eye” moment—the glorious fraction of a second when Christ calls the Church—all born-again believers—to Himself.
 
Here is how to be part of that call so that you can, along with all saints of this Age of Grace, have joy in the Heavenly Father’s presence forever:
 
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)

According to the dictionary, a sign is “an event whose presence or occurrence indicates the probable presence or occurrence of something else.” With that as a description, the world we live in today is full of spiritual signs, events whose presence indicates the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
 
To say that we live in exciting times may not adequately describe the days in which we live. When it comes to the spiritual signs on display all around us, some signs are positive while others are negative. So, to cite the age-old question: “Which do you want first — the good news or the bad news?” I think most people would pick to receive the bad news first thinking, “Let’s get the troublesome news out of the way so that we can enjoy the good news.”
 
Give It to Me Straight
 
As we inch closer and closer to the amazing return of our Lord and Savior, the bad news is that false messengers will try to deceive heaven-bound saints (Matthew 24:5). These false messengers’ lies, deceitful tactics, and words will increase, becoming harsher and yet more convincing. The fruit of these false prophets spreading their false gospel will be increasing heresy within the Church. People who you might never imagine leaving the Church or falling prey to spiritual deceit will, in fact, do both. Eventually this wicked trend will further erode the size of the Church and lead to rising persecution of true followers of Christ.
 
In Jesus’ day, the Pharisees asked Him for a sign (Matthew 16:1-4). His response was a resounding, “NO!” Why would Jesus deny such a request? He denied their request because He knew a miraculous sign would have no effect on their hard hearts because they were more concerned with keeping the Law than their spiritual condition. I often grieve as I look around at our university campuses, our civil government offices, our entertainment venues, and our public spaces, and I see and hear people living life with no concern about their spiritual condition. Sure, we are to rejoice in each day the Lord gives us; but to live the day-to-day with no concern for eternity, with no recognition of the condition of one’s soul, is irresponsible.
 
I have learned to find solace in knowing these signs must take place. As the Apostle Paul was passing down the spiritual baton of leadership to his spiritual son Timothy, he described in great detail how people would choose to behave and live in the last days (2 Timothy 3:1-9).
 
He later explained, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). I have not figured out which is more disappointing, those who want to have their ears tickled or those preachers and teachers who are willing to accommodate such desires.
 
Praise God for The Good News
 
OK, enough of the bad news. Let’s rejoice in the good news. As Jesus led His disciples to the Mount of Olives and presented them with signs of the end times, He spoke of birth pains (Matthew 24:4-14). Any woman who has ever given birth can testify that as the moment of birth draws closer, birth pains become more intense and more rapid, culminating in the baby’s arrival. Jesus explained that in the end times all humanity will experience birth pains leading up to His arrival. There will be wars, famines and earthquakes, however, the last birth pain (Matthew 24:14) will be the Gospel being preached to the entire world! What is exciting about Jesus revealing these truths is the fact that we now have the technological ability to present the Gospel to the entire world! (Mark 13:10).
 
Going hand-in-hand with the Gospel being preached around the globe will be an increased yearning for discernment of end times prophecy (Daniel 12:4). Followers of Christ will understand the end times as the Holy Spirit penetrates their hearts (Joel 2:28-29).
 
We can expect demonic forces to respond, increasing their attack on the foundation of our society by undermining Biblical marriages, attempting to divide Christian families, and surrounding our children with lies, confusion, and anti-Biblical mumbo-jumbo (1 Timothy 4:1). Despite these demonic efforts, the Spirit of the Lord will prevail. He will faithfully draw many hearts to Himself, saving countless souls for eternity (Hebrews 7:25).
 
Signs Are Multiplying
 
Every day, just about everywhere we go we are presented with signs — traffic signs, retail signs, warning signs, directional signs, and political signs. Some of these signs are on billboards tempting us to buy the latest gadget, and some are lit up with bright colors allowing us to see them from hundreds of yards away. We simply cannot escape the avalanche of advertisements. In these end times I pray that we are also aware of the spiritual signs that are all around us.
 
Those who have rejected Jesus as their personal Savior may be blinded to such signage, but those who love the Lord can rejoice in the multiple ways God is speaking to His children. The Holy Scriptures warn us and allow us to recognize all of the signs God’s Word foretold — including the multiplying spiritual signs.
 
Let us rejoice and be glad in the days in which we live for the Lord is speaking to His children, encouraging us to look up as our redemption draws near! (Luke 21:28). Maranatha, Lord Jesus!

In math class, we learned about IF-THEN statements. Don’t worry, this is not about math. But let me illustrate it with one simple equation, a+a=b. In that equation, IF a is 1, THEN b is 2 because 1+1=2.
 
The concept is important because it’s not just about math. It’s how we think, and it’s how we think because it is how the world works. “If it rains today, then I won’t need to turn on the sprinklers.” “If I don’t study for the test, then I will fail it.” Most people see their entire lives in terms of IF-THEN. “If I work hard and play by the rules, then I will succeed.” “If I am lazy and careless, then I will fail.”
 
That’s how the universe works — IF-THEN. We drum it into our children from early in life. We use it as motivation in our own lives to do good and eschew evil. Or we use it in a negative way. Some people go by the mantra, “If it feels good, then do it.” They look only at the immediate feeling of pleasure they get from an action instead of the long-term good.
 
The Bible teaches a profound IF-THEN relationship between sin and death. It is first referenced in Genesis 2:16-17. “The Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die.’”
 
We can summarize it like this — IF-SIN, THEN-DEATH. Ezekiel 18:20 says, “The person who sins will die.” Romans 3:23 shows that we’re all in that category. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
 
Romans 6:23 also links sin to death, then brings something else into the picture. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
 
With that verse, we see something amazing added to the “IF-SIN, THEN-DEATH” pattern — grace. Everything is working in the natural manner. Sin leads to death. All have sinned. All are headed toward death. It seems inevitable. We’ve fallen out of the plane and the natural order of things says we will die. As we fall downward, the ground seems to rush upward.
 
Then God enters the scene. And He offers something better than a parachute. He gives us His hand. We can believe Him and receive grace, or not believe Him and die colliding with the unyielding ground below. “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
 
We cannot be good enough on our own. We cannot earn what only Jesus could earn. Romans 11:6 gives us this beautiful IF-THEN statement. “And IF by grace, THEN it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace.”
 
When He saved you, God intervened in the deadly IF-THEN progression. But that’s not the only area where He makes such interventions. His grace enters our lives in countless ways. He intervenes in ways we never imagined, and He also intervenes in response to prayer. We don’t bother Him when we pray. He invites our prayer. More than that, He instructs us to pray. That’s grace.
 
In 1772, John Newton spoke for all who walk in God’s grace when he wrote, “Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.”

Nomocracy is government based on the rule of law. Rule of law is defined by Britannica as “the mechanism, process, institution, practice or norm that supports the equality of all citizens before the law, secures a nonarbitrary form of government and more generally prevents arbitrary use of power.” This concept of government is designed to prevent, the arbitrariness if you will, of despotic governments or power structures such as kings, committees or parties acting without constraint of the law. The US Constitution in Article IV, Section 4 guarantees a Republican form of government where the people elect representatives to govern them under the rule of law. Why is this so important to Christians?
 
I would wager that many never heard of or used the term “nomocracy” to describe a government. We in America believe we initiated the idea of representative government based on the rule of law. It is the ultimate Lockean principle of government postulated by John Locke in his 1690 Second Treatise of Government. Locke wrote: “The natural liberty of man is to be free from any superior power on earth, and not to be under the will or legislative authority of man, but to have only the law of nature for his rule.” The words “Law of Nature and of Nature’s God” are found in the US Declaration of Independence underscoring that the Republic was founded on a universal moral law serving as the legal basis for self-government. It is a form of nomocracy, which is the law given by God Almighty to Moses on Mt. Sinai and was accepted by the people.
 
The Torah—the first five books of the Bible—is the “teaching” or “law.” It is dedicated to a whole new idea of freedom called, nomocracy. The rule of law, not men, where people do what is right according to the law. God’s law was to set his people apart as holy that they might experience the promise of ultimate freedom of abundant and eternal life. As explained in Romans 2:11-15 “For there is no respect of persons with God…For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness…” If the law is written in our hearts, we become a moral people set apart and living justly.
 
The Founders of the United States knew this well as summarized by John Adams saying, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” The rule of law, nomocracy, is not a new idea of man. It was the law of freedom instituted by God with the promise of eternal life through Christ. When the law of God is written in our hearts, we want to do what is right because we embody the righteousness of God. The law in stone—where man does what is right in his own eyes–results in the kind of culture we have today where law is used to undermine families, religion, and the community as a whole. May we be a Jeremiah 31:32 people as the Lord declared, “I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

victim to tiny insects. Massive trees that survived storms and wildfires have been destroyed by little beetles that ate their way through the trees’ massive fibers. It may have taken months, or even years, but the little beetles did their work.
 
In the same way, we might appear to be doing well spiritually, but there could be hidden sin in our lives that hinders our walk with the Lord and our usefulness to Him.
 
The psalmist David prayed, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life” (Psalm 139:23–24 NLT).
 
We, too, can lay our lives bare before God and ask for the truth of His Word to shine into our lives. And He may say, “Well, I see something right here. It’s growing like a cancer. It needs to be dealt with.”
 
It may appear to us as insignificant. We might even say, “Okay, Lord, I acknowledge that it’s a compromise. But it won’t amount to much. I mean, look at those people over there! They’re committing big sins, blatant sins! I’m just doing this little thing.”
 
But little things turn into big things. And sometimes God must make changes in our lives and remove things that will harm us.
 
We may have our defenses up against the big sins, as it were. Yet the so-called little sins we toy with could be eating through the fibers of our lives and eventually will bring them crashing to the ground.
 
If God has been doing some pruning in your life lately, know that it isn’t to tear you down or make your life miserable. He wants your life to produce even greater spiritual fruit in the days ahead.
