Grace Found in The Old Testament (continued from part 1) The Lord was very graceful to the children of Israel as long as they obeyed His statutes and commandments. In Leviticus 26:3-13, the Lord explained to them how He would bless them for their obedience and worship. Here is one blessing He promised them: “You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you [followers of God] shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you” (Leviticus 26:7-8). In Leviticus 26:14-40, the Lord told them how He would curse them if they didn’t obey his commandments and statutes and broke His covenant. Here is one curse He mentioned: “I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.” “The Israelites were required to give or dedicate certain things to the Lord: the first fruits of their harvest, firstborn animals, their firstborn sons, a tithe of their increase. Many wished to go beyond this and dedicate themselves or another family member, additional animals, a house, or a field to God. In these cases, it was possible to donate money instead of the actual person, animal, or property” {1} By giving money, you could actually redeem a person or property that had been formerly dedicated to God. God set a price on the person or property according to their value. Here are a few examples: “If your valuation is of a male from 20 years old up to 60 years old, then your valuation shall be 50 shekels of silver. If it is a female, then your valuation shall be 30 shekels. If from 5 years old up to 20 years old, then your valuation for a male shall be 20 shekels, and for a female 10 shekels. If from a month old up to 5 years old, then your valuation for a male shall be 5 shekels of silver, and for a female your valuation shall be 3 shekels of silver. If from 60 years old and above, if it is a male, then your valuation shall be 15 shekels, and for a female 10 shekels” (Leviticus 27:3-7). Nearly all of the valuation money for the redemption of persons, property, animals, fields, or tithes are in the number of multiples of 5 shekels, according to Leviticus 27. Moses died (at 120 years of age) after viewing the Promised Land from a distance. The people mourned Moses’ death for 30 (5×6) days. Joshua replaced Moses as the leader of the newly formed nation of Israel and entered the Promised Land in 1406 BC. He was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses laid his hands on him (Deuteronomy 34:9). Joshua died when he was 110 (5×22) years old. After Joshua’s death, God raised up judges to lead and deliver his people from slavery. The total time of the judges was about 326 years, from 1376 BC to 1050 BC. Israel’s first king was Saul, who ruled for 40 years until about 1010 BC. While still a young man and before he became king of Israel, David fought and killed the Philistine giant, Goliath, armed with only a sling and 5 smooth stones. By the grace of God, David only needed 1 stone which was Divinely guided with great velocity to the only unprotected part of Goliath’s body, his forehead. David was a descendant from the lineage of Jacob’s son, Judah. “All the sons of Judah were five” (1 Chronicles 2:4). Jesus was descended from this lineage on his mother’s side and his stepfather’s side. David’s son, Solomon, became king of Israel after his father’s death. He began the temple building project that his father had desired in the fourth year of his reign in 966 BC. “And it came to pass in the 480th year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the 4th year of Solomon’s reign over Israel (966 BC), that he began to build the house of the Lord” (1 Kings 6:1). The temple, inner and outer sanctuaries, furnishings, and Solomon’s other buildings were all built with dimensions of 5 cubits or multiples of 5, similar to the tabernacle of the wilderness. Ezekiel’s vision of the Millennium Temple and city was also similar to the tabernacle and Solomon’s Temple in regard to the dimensions being mostly multiples of 5 cubits (or 1/5), according to Ezekiel 40-45. God’s Holy worship facilities seem to be centered around the number 5. Daniel the prophet was the only wise man in Nebuchadnezzar’s court who could interpret the king’s dream regarding the great statue or image because God revealed it to him. “The image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay” (Daniel 2:31-33). Daniel explained that the different parts of the image were different Gentile kingdoms that would become dominant world powers. The head of gold was Babylon, the 1st kingdom. The chest and arms of silver was the 2nd kingdom (Medo-Persia). The belly and thighs of bronze was the 3rd kingdom (Greece). The legs of iron (Rome) and feet of iron/clay was the 4th kingdom (revived Roman Empire). In the dream, a stone that was cut out without hands struck the image on its feet of iron and clay and broke them in pieces. All the other pieces were destroyed as well, and no trace of them was found. “And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth” (Daniel 2:35). The stone that broke the image (nations) is Jesus Christ (the rock that was not formed by man), and the mountain that fills the whole earth is His kingdom (Kingdom of God/heaven). It is, by the grace of God, the 5th and final kingdom of planet Earth. Psalm 103 and 104 were written by David, a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). They are praises for the Lord’s mercies (grace) and Providence. 5 of the verses in these chapters begin with the exact phrase: “Bless the Lord, O my soul!” (Psalm 103:1; Psalm 103:2; Psalm 103:22; Psalm 104:1; Psalm 104:35). Grace Found in The New Testament As previously mentioned in part 1 of this article, the word “grace” in the Old Testament was usually used in the context of “favor” and not Divine grace. True Divine grace comes only through Jesus Christ. “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). “The law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect… For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins” (Hebrews 10:1, 4). When Jesus came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You [Father God] did not desire, but instead You prepared a body for Me…. Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God” (Hebrews 10:5, 9). God takes away the first (sacrifice offerings for sin) that He may establish the second. “By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10). Because of the new covenant with Jesus, grace cannot be earned, as taught by the New Testament. It is a free gift from God for all those who believe in Him. “And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work” (Romans 11:6). Most modern-day theologians believe in the following timeline for the life of Jesus of Nazareth: Jesus was born in the year 5 BC. He began his ministry in AD 29-30 and died on Passover day (Thursday) on Nisan 14, AD 33. He was resurrected three days later (Sunday) on Nisan 17. Jesus ascended into heaven 40 days later, which was 10 days before the Feast of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles with great power. “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:9). Most of Jesus’ ministry focused on the kingdom of God, otherwise known as the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of God is mentioned 70 times in the New Testament — 5 times in Matthew, 15 times in Mark, 33 times in Luke, 2 times in John, 7 times in Acts, and 8 times in the rest of the N.T. The kingdom of heaven is only mentioned in Matthew, which mentions it 33 times. As you know, 3 and 33 are numbers that symbolically refer to Jesus. “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:28). “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, for He is full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Romans 38-39 is a great example of God’s grace. These verses speak of 10 (5×2) powerful things that are “unable to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
A double portion of God’s grace is mentioned in John 1:16. “And of His [Jesus] fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” In 1 Corinthians 14, Paul compares speaking in tongues to prophecy. “In the Church, I would rather speak 5 words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than 10,000 words in a tongue” (1 Corinthians 14:19). In 2 Corinthians 12:10, Paul lists 5 weaknesses that God uses to make a believer strong. “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Ephesians 4 speaks of spiritual gifts that the Lord gives to the ones who love Him. “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift” (Ephesians 4:7). “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and some teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry and the edifying of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-12). By God’s grace, believers in Christ will escape the wrath of God during the Tribulation by means of the Rapture. At the Rapture, 5 events will happen according to 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.
There are 5 crowns or rewards that will be rewarded to believers in heaven for their faithfulness, “that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:7).
There were 5 people who were raised from the dead by Jesus and his apostles (not counting Jesus Himself or the many saints who were raised after His resurrection).
Unlike Jesus, all of these people died again eventually. There were also two sons that were raised from the dead in the Old Testament — one by Elijah the prophet (1 Kings 17:17-24) and one by the prophet Elisha (2 Kings 4:18-37). This brings the total number of those raised from the dead to 7, which is God’s perfect and complete number. “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). Here are the 5 steps of God’s Divine grace and plan for mankind (for those who love Him) according to Romans 8:29-30. I have added some extra scripture that complements these verses.
Moses was called the servant of the Lord. “The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:11). Moses wrote 5 books in the Old Testament, including Genesis, the first book of the Bible. John the apostle was called “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” He wrote 5 books in the New Testament including Revelation, the last book of the Bible. The first sentence in the Bible (given to Moses by God) speaks of God’s Divine grace: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). In the fullness of time, God once again showed His Divine grace, as written by John: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him [Jesus] should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). John also wrote the last sentence in the Bible. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen” (Revelation 22:21). Both Russia and China seemed hopelessly behind, and nobody dared to challenge America’s military superiority. Everyone else was battling for second place in the pecking order, and they knew it. But since that time, Russia and China have engaged in extremely aggressive modernization programs, while the U.S. military has chosen to focus on becoming more “diverse” and “inclusive”. As a result, the balance of power has changed dramatically. In this article, I would like to focus on a few examples that demonstrate the shift that has taken place. For instance, the Russians are extremely excited about their new ultra-quiet Borei-class submarines that can rain death and destruction down upon their enemies from thousands of miles away… Each of the submarine’s sixteen R-30 Bulava (“Mace”) missiles typically carries six 150-kiloton nuclear warheads designed to split apart to hit separate targets. This means one Borei can rain seventy-two nuclear warheads ten times more destructive than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima on cities and military bases over 5,800 miles away. The Borei is the most advanced SSBN in the Russian Navy, and is designed to replace its seven Soviet-era Delta-class SSBNs. In China, scientists have been feverishly working to develop fearsome biologically-enhanced “super soldiers” that could potentially be far superior to standard western soldiers in a future war… U.S. intelligence shows that China has conducted “human testing” on members of the People’s Liberation Army in hope of developing soldiers with “biologically enhanced capabilities,” the top U.S. intelligence official said Friday. John Ratcliffe, the director of national intelligence, included the explosive claim in a long Wall Street Journal op-ed in which he made the case that China poses the pre-eminent national security threat to the U.S. Meanwhile, Joe Biden says that the U.S. military is “making good progress” on feminist issues. Some of the current priorities include “creating maternity flight suits” and loosening hairstyle requirements… You know, some of — some of it is relatively straightforward work where we’re making good progress designing body armor that fits women properly; tailoring combat uniforms for women; creating maternity flight suits; updating — updating requirements for their hairstyles. Of course any of the old-timers that dare to object to the new “woke military” are being purged, and so soon their won’t be any dissenting voices standing in the way of the social justice reforms that the Biden administration wishes to implement. Over in Russia, “diversity” is not a military priority. Instead, they are getting ready to introduce the new Sarmat intercontinental nuclear missiles into service. These new missiles can travel at speeds of up to 15,000 mph, and a single missile has enough firepower to “wipe out Texas”… RUSSIA is poised to test an “unstoppable” 15,000 mph nuclear missile it boasts can beat any defense and wipe out Texas. The RS-28 Sarmat doomsday rocket is now primed to replace the much-feared R-36 – once dubbed the “Satan” nuke by Nato. The Kremlin brags it has a range of around 6,200 miles, can carry 16 warheads and is able to dodge any missile defense system. At the same time, the Chinese are rapidly developing highly advanced missile delivery systems that look just like “standard international shipping containers”… This missile would be a land-attack variant of an advanced anti-ship missile that would be deployed in launchers appearing to be standard international shipping containers from the outside. Such containers are being used all around the world for moving millions of tons of goods, and are often placed on the deck of large freighters. The YJ-18C is China’s version of the Club-K cruise missile built by Russia that also uses a launcher disguised as a shipping container. Israel also is working on a container-launched missile called the Lora. Rick Fisher, a China military affairs expert, said he is not surprised China is copying the Russian Club container-launched missile. “It fits with China’s penchant for seeking asymmetric advantages against its enemies,” he said. Of course the U.S. military is modernizing as well. In fact, it has been reported that U.S. strategic nuclear forces are no longer using 8-inch floppy disks from the 1970s… In 2014, “60 Minutes” made famous the 8-inch floppy disks used by one antiquated Air Force computer system that, in a crisis, could receive an order from the president to launch nuclear missiles from silos across the United States. But no more. At long last, that system, the Strategic Automated Command and Control System or SACCS, has dumped the floppy disk, moving to a “highly secure solid state digital storage solution” this past June, said Lt. Col. Jason Rossi, commander of the Air Force’s 595th Strategic Communications Squadron. That is exciting news. What is next? Will they finally get rid of all of their old rotary phones? Meanwhile, President Biden is making it exceedingly clear that the U.S. military will have a culture of “inclusiveness” from this point forward… That’s why we moved so quickly to overturn the discriminary — discriminatory ban on transgender service, and why General Austin’s first memo was a directive to take sexual assault in the military seriously. Every single person, no matter their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or religious background, deserves to feel safe in the ranks and to have their contributions valued. I could go on and on with more examples, but I think that most of you get the point. The U.S. military is being transformed into an institution of social change, and at the same time Russia and China are tightly focused on trying to figure out how to fight and win World War III. When it comes time to fight a real war, do you think that we will actually win? Just because the U.S. military was overwhelmingly dominant at one time, that does not mean that it is still that way today or that it will be that way in the future. One of the only things that is constant about our world is change, and right now the U.S. military is definitely changing in the wrong direction. All the while, only a few seem to recognize the end-times rage. It’s as if there’s a supernaturally imposed blindness that has the scales of satanic deception veiling the eyes even of those who genuinely know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (the Church). Those who read this blog are well aware of things going on for the most part, and it’s not from watching mainstream news. Those sources generally paint a picture of complete control over any potential dangers that exist somewhere in the future. We in America, according to the fawning media, now have the near-perfect administration and governmental agglomeration within the legislative and judicial branches—that is, since the previous, much-hated president and his party associates have lost the White House and majority congressional control. The media, which helped bring this about—through questionable electoral machinations—now turn their attention away from careful scrutiny of every detail involving Trump. They’ve turned instead to, for the most part, approval, even laudation, of every move of this new government. They carefully avoid questioning the president on the rare occasions he’s seen in public. They say nothing about the almost nonexistence of his public availability. There is no criticism of his refusal to personally conduct press conferences. His record-setting number of executive orders meets with absolutely no questioning by an observably unconcerned mainstream press. They seem instead to ask trivial questions of White House Press Secretary Jen Tsaki, throwing “softballs” for her, as it is said. When Mr. Biden is asked questions, about as hard as they get are queries like: “What does it feel like being president now after being an occasional guest in the Oval Office as vice president all those years?” And the forces now in charge continue to bring this once-great republic ever closer to something that would have been unrecognizable by the founding fathers. For that matter, it’s now already unrecognizable in many ways by someone of my generation. There is little chance that this obfuscation of and dearth of truth will change. Alternate sources of news that would tell things as they really are continue to be systematically shut down. We watch almost hourly while websites dedicated to getting real news to the public are demonetized and even deplatformed for the most trivial reasons. And the media tyrants doing the shutting down won’t answer the whys of such shutdowns. They consider themselves above the fray. The reason for their arrogant assurance of their ability to act in such tyrannical ways is that the new governmental “watchdogs” are in cahoots with them in wishing to suppress any and all pushback or resistance to their agenda. And that agenda is proceeding at a phenomenal pace. Some wonder if there will not be total socialism—even communist-style, governmental tyranny—in our nation by the end of 2021. The assault on First Amendment rights (free speech) and plans to assault Second Amendment rights (the right to bear arms) are but two attacks on American citizenry. The war against American liberty coalesces from somewhere that can’t be determined by those without spiritual knowledge. Those assaults are formed by the powers and principalities in high places of wickedness we read about in Ephesians 6:12. And this is why it is imperative that the pastors in the pulpits of America make their born-again flocks know what we face. The times are getting dark and are destined, according to Bible prophecy, to grow much, much darker. There is no revival on a massive national or world scale prophesied to occur at the end of the Church Age. The Apostle Paul wrote that “evil men and seducers will grow ever worse, deceiving and being deceived.” The Lord Himself foretold that deception and wickedness would be signs of His return to earth to put an end to the incorrigible rebellion of earth dwellers. The Bible prophesies that the times will be like they were during the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. Can there be any doubt we’re already at that point? I was told before going on a radio program in Canada just last week that I couldn’t mention anything about LGBTQ or transsexual matters, or anything to do with such abominations. The station would be fined and punished—possibly taken off the air permanently—if those matters were addressed. It might just be mere months, I sense, before such regulations will be instituted in our “land of the free.” The reason pastors and teachers in the truth-bearing, true Christian churches should alert the people in their pews of these things is that they will soon hear it nowhere else. Younger people, who’ve been educated to believe the lies about America’s Judeo-Christian founding, may soon have no chance as they surf their ever-speech-suppressing social media. Soon the light would be quenched, even in the true, Bible-believing churches, if not for one thing. “The gates of hell will not prevail“ against His Church, the Lord Jesus has promised. As we observe the gathering darkness, we know that the Tribulation—that last seven years of hell on earth when Satan’s evil will permeate this dying, decaying, world—approaches. Therefore, the light resident within the Church will be removed by Christ Himself, as He calls His Bride to Himself and out of harm’s way (Revelation 3:10). So, in looking at all the evil gathering—which we can see, but the unsaved world cannot—that moment of rescue must be very near indeed. It is incumbent upon each of us who follow Jesus as Lord to hold up before the world as much light of the gospel as possible when we have the chance. Soon, perhaps today, we will suddenly and gloriously stand in some splendid, eternal setting. We will look into the omnipotent, omniscient, eyes of our Lord, who died and was raised again so that we might be saved from the wrath that will then begin pouring out upon the left-behind world of rebels. We will then be taken to our homes He has been personally constructing for more than two thousand years. What magnificent dwelling places those must be! Now, that’s the very best news imaginable! Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1–3) Biden Slowly Erasing Trump's Recognition Of Jerusalem As Israel's Capital – David Sidman - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=4596 Mordechai Kedar, Israel's top Arabic culture academic and lecturer at Bar-Ilan University published an article on Friday stating that US President Joe Biden is supporting elections for the Palestinian Authority's leadership not only in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza but in East Jerusalem as well. This move he explains, will "prove to the world that Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital is no longer valid." Kedar demonstrates that Biden is trying to woo the PA back to the negotiation table with Israel in order to hammer out a 'deal.' He explains that because it will be much more difficult to attract PA chairman Abbas back to the negotiating table, Biden is exhausting greater efforts to curry their favor than he is Israel. He demonstrates his hypothesis with "three concurrent developments." The elections he explains are a type of show of demonstration that the Palestinian state that Biden would like to establish came about democratically via elections from all factions of "all sectors of the Palestinian people...even Hamas." He opines that "the idea to use the elections to produce legitimacy probably came from Washington." The second development according to Kedar is the Muslim Brotherhood's return to Washington's corridors and picking up where they left off with Obama. Hamas is connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and having them participate in the elections will provide the terror organization with a stamp of legitimacy. Kedar also says that there appears to be overt collusion between the White House and Abbas on how the elections will be conducted. This can be evidenced by a "Declaration of Freedoms" document shared on the PA's Facebook page. The declaration is an elaborate constitution of Democratic freedoms that are uncharacteristic of a dictatorship like the PA. The fact that the document was published in English as opposed to the native language of Arabic, points to the idea that Abbas is getting guidance from the White House for these "constructive ideas." Kedar theorizes that the ideas could be coming from "either someone in the State Department whose pro-Arab tendency is known and documented or Maher Bitar, an actively anti-Israeli Palestinian who is now serving in the key role of senior director for intelligence programs at the National Security Council." Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: The border and the ditch – Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Throughout the last presidential campaign there was a clear line drawn between candidates on the issue of border security, otherwise known as illegal immigration. Democrat Joe Biden wanted open borders, no border wall, and signaled to the world that illegal immigrants would be welcome in the US. President Donald Trump wanted to finish building the wall across the border with Mexico and continue to control illegal immigration. After the election, hoards of immigrants began moving toward the US border and it is reported that hundreds of thousands are crossing illegally as President Biden has done away with Trump’s border security with the stroke of a pen on an Executive Order. Stupidocrisy. One of Biden’s new policies allow for authorities to detain illegal immigrants if they entered through the border after November 1. So Biden essentially invited illegal immigration before November in his campaign rhetoric, yet his new policies allow for the arrest of those crossing the border illegally after November 1. Too late. Risk of arrest or not, they came in droves anyway. Biden’s inept handling of the border has caused such an invasion of illegal immigrants that border security agents are overwhelmed. Moreover, Biden’s policies are causing negative consequences for the states, such as Texas, Florida, Arizona and Montana, who are taking actions into their own hands. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said that she is taking legal action against the Biden administration because of its “egregious” immigration regulations. Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said, “Blindly releasing thousands of people, including convicted criminals and those who may be spreading COVID-19 into our state, is both unconscionable and a violation of federal law. This must be stopped now to avoid a dangerous humanitarian crisis for the immigrants and the people of Arizona.” Citing increased drug trafficking as a result of Biden’s policy change, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen joined Brnovich in a lawsuit against the Biden Administration, filing for a preliminary injunction to block the regulations. Texas Governor Greg Abbott called in the National Guard to work with law enforcement to combat a 79.6% increase in illegal border crossings between October 2020 and January 2021. Abbott says Biden’s policies have created a humanitarian crisis and are endangering the lives of Texans. The border is so overwhelmed, Biden has resorted to asking volunteers to help. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in an email to employees on March 8, “You have likely seen the news about the overwhelming numbers of migrants seeking access to this country along the Southwest Border…Today, I activated the Volunteer Force to support Customs and Border Protection as they face a surge in migration along the Southwest Border.” Meanwhile, when asked by reporters about the border crisis, Biden said there’s no crisis on the border and “we’ll be able to handle it.” As Jesus said in Matthew 15:14, “They are blind leaders of the blind. God has given us the solutions to all of our problems right here in the Scriptures. And they’re broken out for us in the Ten Commandments, which we find in Exodus 20 (nkjv): 1. “You shall have no other gods before Me” (verse 3). 2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them” (verses 4–5). 3. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain” (verse 7). 4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (verse 8). 5. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you” (verse 12). 6. “You shall not murder” (verse 13). 7. “You shall not commit adultery” (verse 14). 8. “You shall not steal” (verse 15). 9. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (verse 16). 10. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s” (verse 17). God gave us the Ten Commandments for our own good so that we can go from hopelessness to happiness. But we need to do more than just memorize them.
