On Apr. 17, 2023, Benny Johnson (Turning Point USA) released a short clip of an interview he did with Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis. Johnson asked DeSantis about men taking the role of women. DeSantis said:
So, we’ve got to tell the truth, you know, I think the truth will set you free, and let’s just be honest about what’s going on here. The Book of Proverbs says, “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him” (Prov. 6:16-19).
God is a God of truth (Psa. 31:5). Jesus is truth (Jn. 14:6). Satan is the father of lies (Jn. 8:44). A nation that chooses to abandon the truth and become a nation of fraud, lies, and deceit is also choosing to become a nation that is an abomination unto God. A nation founded on the Scriptures cannot choose to abandon God and follow Satan and get away with it forever. God will call for repentance by allowing hardship to come upon that nation, but a lack of repentance will ultimately stir the wrath of God. Here are some recent events that seem to indicate that the Rapture and Tribulation Period are close. One, concerning abandonment of the truth, deceit, and persecution: a street preacher that heads a group called Warriors for Christ expressed his concerns on social media three times about a church in Oklahoma that was endorsing same-sex marriage, drag queen shows in front of children, and more. When one of the gay church members told the local city council some of the things the street preacher was saying were not true, the street preacher produced photos and video clips to verify what he was posting. The church petitioned the county court for a restraining order to silence the preacher, and the court threatened to arrest him and jail him (for up to 5 years) if he posted any more Bible verses on social media that condemn homosexuality. The Rutherford Institute is appealing the court order on behalf of the preacher. According to John Whitehead, head of the Rutherford Institute, this case is an effort to criminalize speech, thoughts, and actions that are not politically correct. Two, concerning abandoning God and not getting away with it (making bad decisions): on Apr. 22, 2023, Germany shut down its three remaining nuclear power plants (producers of so-called dirty energy). These three plants produced only about 6% of Germany’s power, but for a nation that was already experiencing major energy shortages, a 6% reduction makes a bad situation worse. The idea that Germany could produce enough solar and wind power to meet her clean energy needs has turned out to be wishful thinking. The destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline and sanctions against Russia have made Germany’s energy situation worse. With insufficient energy, Germany’s economy is headed for big trouble, and her wound is mostly self-inflicted, but many people are going to suffer. Three, concerning abandonment of the truth and choosing to follow lies: on Apr. 23, 2023, the Expose reported that data released by the Office of National Statistics in the UK shows that 92% of England’s Covid-19 deaths in 2022 were people that had been fully vaccinated (people that had received three or more jabs). Four, concerning the coming false religion (Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth): on Apr. 19, 2023, it was reported that Bishop Manuel Sanchez Monge of Spain submitted an op-ed that was printed in a regional Spanish Newspaper. Monge’s op-ed was titled “The 2030 Agenda and the New World Order.” Here is some of what Monge said (in my words as I understand it):
(My opinion: The Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals became global laws on Jan. 1, 2016. The globalists that are pushing them are anti-Christ, anti-Bible, and anti-Israel. A person cannot reject Jesus, the Bible, Israel, etc., and be saved. The stage is being set for a one-world government, a one-world false religion, persecution, and the Mark of the Beast.) Five, concerning church members departing from the faith in U.S. churches: on Apr. 24, 2023, it was reported that a 2020-2023 survey of 2,000 people who identify as born-again Christians found that only 44% believe that Jesus lived a sinless life. The study was conducted by the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University and was supervised by George Barna, a well-known pollster. Six, concerning the tracking of all buying and selling: on Apr. 20, 2023, it was reported that two U.S. Senators (Sinema of Ariz. and Lummis of Wyoming) introduced a bill (Senate Bill 884) on Mar. 21, 2023, to create a digital identity for every U.S. citizen. Eight days later (on Mar. 29, 2023), the bill cleared the proper Senate Committee and was passed on with a favorable recommendation. A digital ID will allow everyone to be tracked. It can be linked to one’s bank account, healthcare records, driver’s license, social security information, etc., and used to control them. (FYI: Patrick Wood, editor of Technocracy.news, reported that Sinema attended the 2022 Bilderberg meeting and the 2023 World Economic Forum meeting.) (My opinion: The fact that a bill to track all buying and selling is pending in the U.S. Senate as you are reading this should help you understand the reality of Bible prophecy and the need to be ready for the Rapture.) Seven, concerning corruption in the White House: on Apr. 19, 2023, it was reported that two members of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee (Greene of Geo. and Mace of So. Car.) said they have seen bank documents at the U.S. Treasury Dept. that contain “jaw-dropping” evidence of Biden family involvement in foreign business deals, human trafficking, and prostitution rings. On Apr. 20, 2023, it was reported that Greene tweeted that she “reviewed more than 2,000 pages of financial records revealing a crime syndicate involving Biden’s family and countries such China, Russia, and Ukraine.” Green said the Bidens established fake shell companies to receive money from foreign countries. Concerning human trafficking and prostitution: this report said a Florida Grand Jury found that drug cartels are claiming and seizing children from Mexico and exposing them “to horrifying health conditions, constant criminal threat, labor and sex trafficking, robbery, rape, and other experiences.” Based on the Grand Jury findings, the Fla. Attorney Gen. has sent a letter to the U.S. House and Senate requesting an investigation of the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security and the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services involvement in these crimes. Eight, concerning world government: an international advocacy group of entertainers, politicians, corporate executives, and others (called Global Citizens Now) with billions of dollars in commitments meet each year to discuss ways to advance the UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Some of the big names that will gather in New York on Apr. 27, 2023, include Canadian Prime Min. Trudeau, French Pres. Macron, EU Pres. Ursula von der Leyen, John Legend, Hugh Jackman, and others. Other groups that plan to have people present are Verizon, Cisco, P&G, Ford, PepsiCo, and Rockefeller. It has been reported that they will “combine major announcements on policy initiatives with discussions about immediate steps that can be taken on climate change, food insecurity, gender inequality, and other issues.” Nine, concerning antisemitism in the U.S.: on Apr. 13, 2023, 14 Democrats urged Pres. Biden and Sec. of State Blinken to condition U.S. aid to Israel (money, weapons, equipment, etc.) on ending gross human rights violations. When asked if they would support conditioning U.S. aid to the Palestinians on PA respect for Israel and Jewish civil rights, none of them responded. Ten, concerning the coming economic collapse: on Apr. 26, 2023, Gary Bauer (Campaign for Working Families) reported that the interest on America’s national debt last year was $475 billion (about $1 billion, $300,000 per day). Higher interest rates will make it worse this year, Biden wants to keep increasing our national debt, and he is refusing to negotiate with Republicans that want to try to avoid a collapse. Finally, are you Rapture Ready? If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). As they looked down upon Jerusalem and at the Temple on Moriah, the Lord said the following: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation. (Matthew 24:6–7) Of all the prophecies that seem to be in view now, none is more relevant than the turmoil Jesus spoke of that we’re watching in this crucial hour of last-time human history. The process of stage-setting in this regard is part of the dynamics reconfiguring the world for humanity’s most horrific military conflict–Armageddon. The portion of the prophecy we need to look at is the prophecy Jesus gave that “nation will rise against nation” in an unprecedented way just before He returns to set up His Millennial Kingdom on the earth. When giving only a cursory glance at these words, we think that, yes, that’s certainly true. Many a nation has risen against another nation just during the past several decades. There have been many wars, and other wars are looming. But, is this the kind of “nation against nation” reference Jesus specifically gave in this discourse? To answer this, we must look at the Greek language–the language from which the New Testament was translated into English. Jesus was in actuality saying these uprisings would be unusual in that they would be based in ethnos—Greek, here, for “nation.” They would be “ethnic” in origin. They would pit ethnic—or racial—group against racial group. It is equally true that ethnic factors have been the cause of many wars throughout the centuries. The Arabs and Jews–as a matter of fact, many ethnic peoples against the Jews—marked the conflicts of Old Testament times. Almost without exception, those early wars were “ethnic” in origin. Things haven’t changed. Arabs and Jews still have the ethnos factor at the heart of their differences. And, never in history has the conflict been more virulent–in rhetoric, if not in fact. The Islamic nations–mostly Arab—are blood-vowed to push the Jews into the Mediterranean Sea and wipe the Jewish race from the planet. Some Arab leaders of the past and other leaders–e.g., the Iranian—continue to want all Jews expunged from the region and even off the planet. They have made it their national policy through their oratorical invectives. There have been conflicts in the century just passed involving peoples of the Caucuses, the Balkans, etc., and horrific slaughters in Africa and other places–all based upon ethnic differences. Now, this hemisphere is experiencing the ever-increasing lethal effects of ethnic struggle. The latest is more and more pitting those of multiple races against, particularly, Caucasian types, while the protests over immigration laws escalate. These uprisings aren’t spontaneous, but are fomented, obviously, by those who have ulterior motives–other than to see that illegal immigrants get a chance to start new lives in the most materially blessed nation in human history. We’ve looked consistently at the globalist elites who are showing a total disregard for national boundaries and sovereign well-being by wanting to just ignore the laws on these important immigration matters and extend unlimited amnesty to those who have entered America illegally. The point is, Jesus said a great, swelling uprising involving ethnic strife would grow to be a major crisis during the Tribulation era–the last seven years just before He returns to put an end to all of the conflicts at Armageddon (Revelation 19:11). This tremendous ethnic disturbance we are witnessing each day in our headlines is something we must absolutely watch closely. The powerful turbulence–the “seas and waves roaring”—constitutes yet another indicator of where this generation stands on God’s prophetic timeline. We can say with a degree of certainty—based upon study of God’s Word and belief in the pre-Trib Rapture of Christ’s Church—that because of the burgeoning ethnic unrest, in conjunction with all of the other indicators we see interjecting themselves with growing intensity and frequency, Jesus’ shout, “Come up here!” can’t be far distant. These things are happening now, but they have also happened before — repeatedly. Humanity seems intent on repeating history even when its lessons seem obvious. Many years ago, the cable television channel called TV Land ran a particularly memorable ad for Leave It to Beaver. The announcer asked, “Why doesn’t the Beaver ever learn his lesson? He is often taught his lesson. He promises to remember his lesson. But the next day, he’s forgotten his lesson. Is he deliberately ignoring his lesson? Not exactly.” Then they showed the “inside” of Beaver’s head — a small brain surrounded by a great deal of empty space. We see the word “Lesson” enter his head through his left ear. The narrator tells us what’s happening. “New evidence suggests that Beaver’s lesson enters one ear, floats around his head for a few seconds, but avoids having any contact with his brain, before exiting out the other side of his skull.” The lesson goes in one ear and out the other — and that, friends, is the human condition. In The Late Great Planet Earth, I posed the question, “Do we really live and learn?” The answer is that, like young Beaver Cleaver, the lessons just seem to bounce around our empty heads, then come out the other side without contacting our brains. We remember technological lessons, but collectively, humans tend to forget moral truths. Right now, society seems to be in a particularly empty-headed phase. As the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990s, people joked that the only real communists left in the world were tenured at American universities. We should have taken that joke more seriously. Today, people make fun of the phrase, “Godless communism.” They forget that most communist nations are officially atheistic. The result is just what you would expect. The state becomes a god. Individuals fall beneath its crushing wheels. They teach the young that rules aren’t worth following. They defund police and encourage contempt for law and order. This leads inevitably to chaos and terror. In their fear of anarchy, people soon call for more police with fewer restrictions, and for increasingly coercive laws. Ironically, the fastest route to a police state is to dismantle law enforcement. Remember the pattern of Romans 1:18-32. “The wrath of God is revealed against all…who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…. Even though they knew God, they did not honor Him…. Professing to be wise, they became fools…. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity…. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie…. God gave them over to degrading passions…. Just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind.” As a society, we are already well down this road. But this is not the time for despair. Those who still love God and respect His word are not helpless. His promises remain true. He still cares. We walk in His power. Hopefully, His people are learning the lesson. We must do things His way and in His power. Once Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank went down, we all knew that it was just a matter of time before more large banks started to implode. Now First Republic has failed, and over the weekend U.S. regulators were working very hard to arrange a sale… U.S. regulators have been trying to clinch a sale of First Republic over the weekend, with roughly half a dozen banks bidding, sources said on Saturday, in what is likely to be the third major U.S. bank to fail in two months. Guggenheim Securities is advising the FDIC, two sources familiar with the matter said on Saturday. As a I write this article, that still hasn’t happened yet. But it could happen at any moment. When a sale is finally announced, the FDIC is also expected to tell us that it has seized First Republic… The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp is expected to announce a deal on Sunday night before Asian markets open, with the regulator likely to say at the same time that it had seized the lender, three sources previously told Reuters. They are trying to time everything so that as little panic as possible is created. But I feel really badly for those that owned First Republic stock. It was going for about 120 dollars a share at the beginning of March, and once the bank is seized by federal regulators it will almost certainly be worthless. That is how fast these things can happen. More dominoes will fall throughout the rest of 2023, and you don’t want to be caught holding the bag. So do what you need to do while you still have time. When the Federal Reserve decided to go nuts with their rate hikes, we all knew that this would put enormous pressure on the banks, and that is precisely what has happened. We also knew that higher rates would crush the housing market, and last month pending home sales dropped much more than expected… March is with both feet in the spring selling season, when home sales jump and when prices move higher, and where everything looks rosy for a few months, no matter what, after the dreariness of winter. So, well then, here we go again. Pending home sales – which are “a forward-looking indicator of home sales based on contract signings” – fell by 5.2% in March from February, according to the National Association of Realtors today, thereby annihilating the little-bitty gain in February that had sent all the headlines abuzz with hype. If you are looking to sell a home, I would recommend doing it quickly, because prices are likely to go quite a bit lower from here. Meanwhile, big companies are laying off workers all over the country at a very frightening rate. In fact, we just learned that Jenny Craig is getting ready to conduct “mass layoffs” as it prepares to wind down operations… Jenny Craig has alerted employees to potential mass layoffs as it begins “winding down physical operations” and hunts for a buyer, according to communications the weight-loss company sent some staffers this week. The company said it “has been going through a sales process for the last couple of months,” according to a document titled “Jenny Craig Company Transition FAQs” that was dated Tuesday and provided to NBC News. I don’t know why, but I am sad to see Jenny Craig go. Perhaps it is because of all the Jenny Craig commercials that I watched when I was younger. Joe Biden keeps telling us that the economy is doing great, but we just keep seeing one large company after another go belly up… For 2009 there were 118 bankruptcies through April. In Covid-impacted 2020, there were 71 bankruptcies. In 2023 there have been 70. This is the third worst start to the year since 2000. This didn’t have to happen. If our leaders had not flooded the system with money, inflation never would have gotten out of control. And if inflation had never gotten out of control, officials at the Fed never would have had to recklessly hike interest rates. Sadly, we have a real nightmare on our hands at this point, and there is no turning back now. Not too long ago, a prankster that was impersonating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was able to completely fool Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell during a video chat. During their discussion, Powell openly admitted that raising rates could push the U.S. economy into a recession… Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell earlier this year held a video chat about the global economy with someone he thought was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Except it wasn’t Zelensky. Powell appears to have been pranked. In clips posted online of the January conversation, Powell discussed global politics and the economy. He said he supported the Ukrainian people but was limited in ways he could help. And Powell said a recession was likely coming in the not-too-distant future and divulged the Fed’s plans to raise rates in 2023. Powell also admitted that more rate hikes are planned even though he knows that they will cause even more pain. And actually the Federal Reserve is expected to raise rates another 25 basis points later this week. It is absolutely suicidal to keep raising rates as the economy plunges into a major downturn, but they are doing it anyway. Have they gone completely mad? It is almost as if they are purposely trying to create the sort of economic horror show that I have been relentlessly warning about. If officials at the Fed had any sense, they would be reducing rates as soon as possible. Unfortunately, that is simply not going to happen, and so we will soon see many more dominoes start tumbling over. It’s easy to get discouraged. But if you have the light of Christ within you, you are part of a nation of priests, a holy nation, set apart to show the blessings of being called out of this darkness into the marvelous light of Christ. It’s not just a cliché. This is real life. Christ told us in Matthew 5:13 that we are “the salt of the earth.” And in Matthew 5:14 that we “are the light of the world.” Salt and light. If you are a Christ follower, you are equipped with two powerful responses to this dark and dying world—salt, which seasons and preserves; and light which illuminates and gives hope. You have it in you. The disciples of Christ also lived in a very dark time. Their lives were threatened nearly every day for what they believed. The Roman Empire was a harsh master. There was life and death persecution. While believers in Islamic countries may suffer similar persecution, the persecution we face in Western nations is one of encroaching oppression against our beliefs. We are labeled bigots, hatemongers, all types of “phobes,” for simply believing the Bible is true. The minions of darkness take great offense that the Bible does not validate or accept their corrupted ways. They seek to minimize and oppress those who disagree. This type of persecution becomes increasingly aggressive. I am reminded of the story of Gideon. The children of Israel having done evil in the sight of the Lord, He sent the Midianites to chasten them. After their land was destroyed and the people impoverished, the Lord heard their prayers and Gideon was chosen to deliver Israel from the Midianites. An angel of the Lord told Gideon in Judges 6:12, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor.” Gideon destroyed the altar of Baal, which angered the Midianites, the Amalekites and their allies, which gathered against Israel. Gideon rallied the tribes of Israel to prepare for battle. But God would let him take only 300 men to destroy the Midianites. Gideon gave them trumpets and lamps. On signal, they would blow the trumpets and light the lamps, making the Midianites think there were far more Israelites than there were. The Midianites and their allies ran, and the tribes of Israel overtook and destroyed them in their fear. Herein is the lesson: Gideon was salt and light. The salt was the destruction of the idol of Baal, surrounding the Midianite camp, standing for righteousness in word and deed. The light was the lamps that shown brightly against the darkness striking fear in the evil Midianites. You see, we are also salt and light, as Christ said. But if the salt loses its savor, it is no good. And one doesn’t hide his light otherwise darkness prevails. As encouraged in Romans 13:12, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Don’t be entangled with the works of darkness, but be salt by standing and light in Christ, knowing all the while the promise of Christ in Matthew 28:20, “I am with you always.” And that we are “more than conquerors” through Christ. Be salt and light, bring accountability and hope. The Lord is with you. To put it another way, every disciple is a Christian, but not every Christian is necessarily a disciple. We shouldn’t say, “This doesn’t apply to me. I’m just happy that I’m going to Heaven.” A true follower of Jesus should want to be a disciple. And what is discipleship? It’s living the Christian life as it was meant to be lived. It’s living the Christian life as Jesus taught it and as the early church understood it. Discipleship is real Christianity. However, I think that some Christians are reluctant to want to live that way because it seems, well, radical. They don’t want difficulty, so they take the path of least resistance. Discipleship is challenging, but it’s fulfilling. It’s hard, but it’s more than worth it. Jesus said, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you” (Matthew 28:19–20 NLT). But we can’t help someone else be a disciple of Jesus if we are not first disciples ourselves. Here’s what it comes down to: Every follower of Jesus Christ should be a disciple. And we should either disciple someone who is less mature in the faith than we are or seek out someone who is more mature in the faith to disciple us. Discipleship is all about growing up. It’s about going to the next level. It’s about really living the Christian life to its fullest, as Jesus meant for us to live it. It’s being a disciple and, in turn, going out and making disciples of others.
