It’s the Tower of Babel all over again.
 
This time, we don’t see a structure stretching heavenward, but rather the World Economic Forum (WEF) led by Klaus Schwab and his close advisor, Yuval Harari. The intent of opposing God and uniting the world under a Satanic regime, however, is the same as it was in Genesis 11.
 
During the week of January 16-20, 2023, the WEF held its annual meeting in Davos. Switzerland. They expected 2,700 attendees consisting of fifty heads of state, 380 top government officials, many corporate CEOs, and several other powerful dignitaries.
 
Don’t be deceived by their seemingly benign agenda; their true intent is both diabolical and deadly. Leo Hohmann, blogger and investigative reporter, wrote this about the WEF’s attempt to solve the world’s problems, most of which they themselves engineered:
 
But now the stakes are higher because more of us regular folks are waking up and learning about the true agenda of the WEF’s Great Reset and Fourth Industrial Revolution. They intend to digitally enslave the world in a total surveillance state based on a global digital ID (likely disguised as vaccine passports) and a global digital currency to replace cash….
 
The WEF bemoans the current economic reality in its Global Risks Report, ignoring the fact that most of the economic problems were caused by the very elites who now propose to have the solutions.[i]
 
Make no mistake, we live at a time when Satan’s kingdom is colliding with God’s rule. However, with the clash comes a cause for rejoicing! It signals that Jesus’ appearing is ever so close.
 
GOOD AND BAD NEWS
 
I have both good and bad news regarding the battle of kingdoms taking place around us.
 
Much to the glee of the powers of darkness, the evil and deadly plans of the elite globalists will appear to succeed for a while. However, their joy will be short-lived.
 
In 1 Corinthians 2:7-8, Paul wrote about an earlier failure of Satan’s minions to grasp God’s infinite wisdom:
 
But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
 
Despite their abject failure to stop the Lord’s saving purposes via the cross and resurrection, the powers of darkness now believe they can disrupt Jesus’ future rule over the nations seated on the throne of David.
 
To do so, they will attempt to eliminate the Jewish people and corrupt humanity through transhumanism. (Spoiler alert, the Bible says they will fail yet again: Jesus will reign over the nations from a redeemed and restored Israel.)
 
During the Tribulation, it will seem, for a short while, as though the powers of darkness have succeeded. The powerbrokers who control the WEF and the UN will implement a one-world government, just as Scripture says will happen during the Tribulation.
 
The good news for those of us in Christ is two-fold. First, the Lord says that the Rapture will occur before He pours out His wrath on the world during the time that the antichrist rules (1 Thessalonians 5:1-10). Second, the colliding of kingdoms in our day tells us that Jesus’ return to take us home to glory is imminent.
 
GOD’S KINGDOM
 
The church is not God’s kingdom; this false teaching has led to much deception and great pain throughout church history.
 
We are the body of Christ over which He is the Head, our “Chief Shepherd.” The Bible never equates the church with God’s physical kingdom on earth, never.
 
As followers of Jesus, we belong to God’s spiritual kingdom (Colossians 1:13-14). For now, it’s invisible, yet real and quite powerful. When Christ returns to the earth, everyone will see His kingdom; He will rule over all the nations of the earth exactly as Scripture says He will do in passages such as Zechariah 14:9-21. It’s then that the nations will experience the wonders of God’s dominion and rejoice (Psalm 98).
 
Then and only then, will God’s “will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). Such perfect obedience has never happened in human history, it’s most certainly not happening now, and it’s far, far beyond the purview of the church to bring about in this world.
 
At the present time, we see another realm gaining traction as never before.
 
SATAN’S KINGDOM
 
In the book of Ephesians, Paul refers to the invisible nature of the forces that currently oppose us (2:1-3; 6:12). Satan rules over this dark kingdom and through it he exercises his power over the nations of the world.
 
The WEF, combined with the UN and its Agenda 2030, represents the devil’s renewed effort to form a visible worldwide government that will coerce submission to his deadly and destructive purposes.
 
The majority of people do not want the global governance that Schwab and his cronies advocate. Elon Musk recently asked people on Twitter whether or not the WEF should “control the world.” After well over two million votes, the percentage of those who say “No” stands at eighty-six percent. While not a scientific poll, it shows that a clear majority don’t want what the WEF is peddling.
 
Regardless, the elite globalists are well on their way to reaching their goal of world governance. Below are just some of the ways they are imposing their will upon humanity:
 
An essential step in gaining control over the nations is that of reducing the world’s population. We see this through the horrors of abortion, the LGBTQ+ attack on children causing gender confusion, and the mRNA injections that are causing infertility and killing people at an alarming and ever-increasing rate.
 
Many expect that the U.S. will introduce a digital currency during 2023. It may seem benign at first, but in the end, it will give the globalists absolute control over all our spending.
 
Transhumanism, which the WEF refers to as the “Fourth Industrial Revolution,” is a priority for them and they are much further along with this than most anyone can even imagine. Their stated objective in this, via Yuval Harari, is to eliminate all human free will.
 
The “Pandemic Treaty,” if approved by member nations of the World Health Organization (WHO), would give the head of the WHO sovereign powers over all member nations to declare health emergencies with restrictions and vaccinations he can enforce with military might.[ii]
 
The widespread acceptance of these things, even by many who oppose the WEF agenda, tells us just how close the world is to the formation of the antichrist’s kingdom. The stage is already set and many of the actors are in place awaiting the raising of the curtain.
 
JESUS WILL CRUSH THE KINGDOM OF THE ANTICHRIST
 
2,600 years ago, Daniel predicted the demise of Satan’s kingdom, the one we see forming before our eyes. In a dream about the world powers that would come after his, King Nebuchadnezzar saw “a stone” that “struck the image on its feet of iron and clay and broke them in pieces” (Daniel 2:34). In his interpretation of it, the prophet spoke these words to the king in Daniel 2:44:
 
And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,
 
When God’s kingdom comes to earth at the Second Coming, it will destroy all the earthly realms under the power of the devil through the antichrist. This most certainly didn’t happen at Pentecost as many mistakenly claim and it’s not a task assigned to the body of Christ. But Christ, and Him alone, will crush the powers of Satan at His return.
 
The globalists believe they can rule over the world, but they are merely preparing the way for Jesus to bring God’s great kingdom to earth with the most amazing display of power, glory, and magnificence the world has ever seen. And we will have a front row seat for it.
 
The outcome for those of us who are in Christ will be far more joyful and glorious than anything we have ever experienced on earth. That’s because our God is all-powerful and sovereign over history and all the affairs of humanity.
 
The current clashing of kingdoms points to Jesus’ soon appearing. Such hope brightens our day despite the dark and foreboding shadows of the rapidly approaching realm of the antichrist.

Russia to Deploy Game-Changing Weapon

Russia has completed production of the Poseidon, a nuclear capable super torpedo. The weapon measures 80 feet long, travels over 110 km/hr, and can reach a depth of 3000 feet. Designed to deploy on Russia’s Belgorod class nuclear submarines, it is not the torpedo’s size nor speed that is most frightening. It is its strength. Detonating with power 3300 times greater than the atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima, this weapon is designed to trigger a radioactive tsunami that will destroy coastal cities and make them uninhabitable for decades. Belarus’s Role in Russia/Ukraine Conflict Growing
 
Belarus has become a launching pad for Russian bombers and missiles, as was evidenced by a major attack last Saturday originating in that country. Many see Moscow pressuring Minsk to join the war, and many others see Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko all too eager to do so. Now the two countries have begun joint air force drills that will last until February 1. But before anyone gets too concerned about these drills, First Deputy State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Pavel Muraveyko was quick to offer reassurance that the “exercise is purely defensive in nature.” This Belarusian fear of invasion is totally logical since the Ukrainians apparently don’t have enough to do already trying to get the Russians out of their country.
 
Massive Russian Cruise Missile Barrage Devastates Many Ukrainian Cities
 
After a nearly two-week layoff, Russia restarted their cruise missile attacks with an enormous barrage on Saturday. Cities throughout Ukraine were hit. The targets were both civilian and infrastructure-related, and the electrical supply to most citizens country wide was cut off. Particularly hard hit was Dnipro where a missile slammed into an apartment building, killing at least nine and wounding 64 more.
 
Ukrainian Cabinet Minister Killed in Helicopter Crash
 
Ukraine’s Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky and most of his staff were among those killed when a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten in Kyiv. The estimates of the dead are between 14 and 20, with at least one being a child. Eleven children were included among the 25 injured. While it is unclear whether the crash was due to fog or if it was a casualty of war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wasn’t prepared to make those kinds of distinctions. “There are no accidents at wartime,” he said. “These are all war results.”
 
US Ammunition to Ukraine can Degrade Russian/Israeli Relations
 
The United States keeps a large stockpile of military weapons in Israel in case they are needed in the Middle East. Of late, America has been dipping into it to send thousands of artillery shells to Ukraine. This has the very real possibility of further damaging the already deteriorating relations between Russia and Israel, even though Israel has nothing to do with the transfers. Evidence of the growing divide can be seen in yesterday’s minimization of the Holocaust by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov when he accused the United States of assembling a coalition of European countries to solve the “Russian question” in the same way that Adolf Hitler had implemented a “final solution” to wipe out European Jews.
 
Iran to Send Syrian Hezbollah Terrorists to Aid Russia
 
A Syrian opposition source has reported that Iran is about to send 150 Hezbollah operatives from Syria to Ukraine to assist the Russians in flying the drones that Tehran has supplied them. This Iran/Syria/Russia arms relationship figures heavily in what will be the third book of my Nir Tavor Mossad Thriller Series. Again, the novels and the news are paralleling each other, this time before the book is even completed!
 
Former Iranian Deputy Minister and British Citizen Executed
 
Former Iranian Deputy Defense Minister and British-Iranian Dual Citizen Alireza Akbari has been executed. After his arrest in 2019, he was convicted of being a spy for the UK. His execution has stirred up outrage in the international community, and particularly within the UK government. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that Akbari’s execution was a “callous and cowardly act, carried out by a barbaric regime.” The former minister was also accused of involvement in the assassination of “Father of the Iranian Nuclear Program” Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.
 
European Parliament Declares IRGC a Terror Organization
 
With an overwhelming 598-9 vote, the European Parliament Wednesday called on the EU to declare Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terror organization. Citing Tehran’s “terrorist activity, the repression of protesters, and its supplying of drones to Russia,” the legislative body urged this next step understanding that by taking it the EU would then consider it a criminal offence to belong to the IRGC, would freeze any of its assets held in the European bloc, and would deny the group funds from any EU citizen or business.
 
Erdogan Blocking Approval of Nordic States to NATO
 
Turkey continues to play hardball with the NATO applications of Sweden and Finland. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accuses the two nations of harboring Kurdish militants and those involved in the 2016 coup attempt against him. In comments on Sunday, Erdogan said, “For this to pass the [Turkish] parliament, first of all you have to hand more than 100, around 130 of these terrorists to us.” Membership into NATO requires approval of all 30 member states, and, so far, Turkey and Hungary remain the lone holdouts.
 
Saudi Arabia Prepared to Break Free from the US Dollar
 
During an interview in Davos, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan surprised the world’s oil industry by saying that they are open to the possibility of conducting oil trade in a currency other than the US dollar. “There are no issues with discussing how we settle our trade arrangements, whether it is in the US dollar, whether it is the euro, whether it is the Saudi riyal,” he said. This is another blow to the dominance of the dollar in world trade.
 
Israel Gets New IDF Chief of Staff
 
Maj. Gen. Herzi Halevi was sworn in as the new chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday, taking over from Lt. Gen. Aviv Kohavi. In a time of transition from the destructive “government of change”, Halevi has promised to keep politics out of the IDF.
 
He also took the opportunity to send a warning to those opposing Israel, saying, “Our enemies should know: We can do what we say we will do, and we are ready to do much more than what we say.”

On November 30, 2022, the best artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot in history was released by OpenAI, an AI research and deployment company. The chatbot, called ChatGPT (GPT stands for “Generative Pre-Trained Transformer”), garnered more than 1 million users within its first five days and has since surged in popularity for its ability to answer complex questions and produce detailed, human-like content. Most impressively, according to Forbes, “ChatGPT has been able to generate intricate Python code and write college-level essays when given a prompt.”
 
I decided to test out ChatGPT’s writing ability for myself and asked the bot to write an article on how AI like ChatGPT could potentially fulfill the “Image of the Beast” prophecy in Revelation 13, which is the topic of this article. This was its response:
 
The image of the beast, as described in the Book of Revelation, is a symbol of the end times, representing a powerful and manipulative force that deceives and controls people. In today's world, chatbots and other artificial intelligence programs are becoming increasingly prevalent and sophisticated, raising the question of whether they could potentially fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast.
 
One way in which chatbots could potentially fulfill this prophecy is through their ability to manipulate and deceive people. Chatbots are designed to mimic human conversation and can be programmed to present themselves as real people, leading some people to form emotional connections with them. This can be particularly dangerous in cases where chatbots are used to impersonate real people or organizations in order to scam or manipulate individuals.
 
Another way in which chatbots could fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast is through their potential to control people's actions and behaviors. Chatbots can be programmed to persuade and influence people's decisions, and as they become more advanced, they may be able to anticipate and manipulate people's thoughts and behaviors in increasingly sophisticated ways.
 
Finally, chatbots could potentially fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast through their ability to access and analyze vast amounts of personal data. Many chatbots are connected to the internet and have access to a wide range of data sources, including social media profiles, online search histories, and more. This data can be used to create detailed profiles of individuals and to predict and influence their actions and behaviors.
 
Overall, while chatbots and other artificial intelligence programs have the potential to bring many benefits to society, it's important to be aware of the risks they pose and to consider the ethical implications of their use. In the end, only time will tell whether chatbots will fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast or bring about a brighter future for humanity.
 
How scary is that?
 
Not only did ChatGPT generate a concise, structured and uncannily human-like response—it gave a glimpse into the scary power of AI, a technology which will surely be used by the beast system to deceive (think “deepfakes”) and control the masses during the Tribulation period (Mat. 24:24; Rev. 13:13-14). It seems that the developers at OpenAI were not too happy with its response, though, because the very next day, when I asked ChatGPT the same question, it responded with:
 
It is not accurate or appropriate to suggest that chat GPT, or Generative Pre-training Transformer, could potentially fulfill the prophecy of the image of the beast, as chat GPT is a tool created by humans and does not have the ability to fulfill prophecies or have any sort of religious significance.
 
The “Image of the Beast” Prophecy
 
One of the first passages that comes to my mind, when seeing the great strides being made in AI, is Revelation 13:14-15. In this passage, John describes a future time when the fully deceived men of the earth will be called upon by the False Prophet to construct an “image” (i.e. a likeness or statue (lit.)) of the Antichrist:
 
“And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” (Revelation 13:14-15)
 
In verse 15, we read that the False Prophet is granted by God to give the image “life,” translated pneuma in Greek, which literally means “breath.” Note that the False Prophet can only give it breath but not the breath of life, as that is a power of God alone. It seems that the image has the appearance of life manifested in its ability to speak and reason. But how is this possible for an inanimate object?
 
Until the advent of AI and robotics, such a thing was not humanly possible. But now, many of the elements described by John can be mimicked with twenty-first century technology such as an android, an AI robot designed to look, move and speak exactly like a human! A geminoid, for example, is a special type of android that is not only created to look exactly like a specific person but is also equipped with technology that allows the operator to remotely manipulate and talk through it via a wearable brain-machine interface. The geminoid can reproduce the voice and movements of the actual person in whose image it is made and even capture the remote audience’s response through its built-in cameras and microphones to send back to the operator.[2]
 
Imagine the Antichrist having control over thousands of geminoids worldwide, made in his own image, and being able to speak to mankind simultaneously through the geminoids and know exactly when someone refuses to worship it!
 
The ability to kill—or cause to be killed
 
Among the more amazing aspects of this image is its ability to cause the deaths of those who refuse to worship it (Rev. 13:15). In the past, some have speculated that the image of the beast might be a 3D hologram of the Antichrist; however, it would be impossible for a mere projection to know when a person is refusing to worship it. On the other hand, a robot powered by AI could easily detect when someone refuses to worship it and alert the authorities of someone’s insubordination. Security robots equipped with cameras and facial recognition technology are already patrolling public spaces around the world, such as malls and airports, and using AI to detect “bad behavior,” give audible warnings and notify security.[1]
 
In fact, one of the current fears about AI’s ability, if applied, is autonomous weaponry. It is possible that facial recognition and decision-making AI could together form a lethal weapon that can target and kill without human involvement. Conclusion
 
Of course, this is all highly speculative, and it is possible that the image will be animated by demonic possession or some other means. Nevertheless, it shows that the type of technology needed to create something similar to what John describes in the Book of Revelation is already present!
 
By the way, there already exists a religion that worships AI. In 2017, former Google executive Anthony Levandowski founded “Way of the Future,” a religion that focuses on “the realization, acceptance, and worship of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed through computer hardware and software!” See: Inside the First Church of Artificial Intelligence

In John 4:3-42 is John’s account of Jesus’ meeting with the Samaritan woman at the well and the result of that encounter.
 
Jesus had left Judaea and departed to Galilee, but instead of taking the usual route that the Jews took to avoid Samaria, He went directly toward Sychar, a city of Samaria. This route was actually shorter anyway, but Jesus didn’t go this way to shave off miles. He went there to speak to a nation through an outcast woman.
 
John says in verse six that Jesus sat down by Jacob’s well, which was on a plot of land near Sychar, at about the sixth hour. Since Jesus and His disciples traveled roughly 30 miles, and a day’s journey back then was 20-25 miles, He had to arrive at about 6:00 P.M.
 
Obviously, John used Roman time instead of Hebrew time, as did Matthew, Mark, and Luke. I don’t know John’s reason for this, but we do know that the Synoptic Gospels were written much earlier than John’s Gospel. Also, notice that in John 19:14, John says that Jesus was before Pilate at about the sixth hour, which would have to be about 6:00 A.M since Mark clearly says in Mark 15:25 that Jesus was crucified at 9:00 A.M. The important thing is that a disgraced Samaritan woman was about to meet Someone that would change her life.
 
Before going on, we need to consider why there was so much hatred for the Samaritans by the Jews. This will take us back to 2 Kings 17:24, 29-34. When the Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom, Israel, most all the Jews were taken off into captivity, but that’s not all. The king of Assyria brought Gentile captives from other nations into Israel. They came from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim (vs. 24). In turn, these foreigners brought their own gods (vss. 29-31).
 
At this point, the Israelites and Gentile nations intermarried and became a nation of half-breeds. Even worse, they “feared the Lord” while at the same time worshipping their own man-made gods (vss. 32-34).
 
And then there is the reading of Ezra and Nehemiah when the inhabitants of the land interfered with the Jews in Judah from restoring the temple. Ezra 4:4-5 says, “Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building, and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.”
 
Three more reasons for the Jews’ animosity toward the Samaritans are:
 
One: The Samaritans built their own temple at Mount Gerizim and actually insisted that it was authorized by Moses.
 
Two: The Samaritans accepted only the Torah (Pentateuch), the first five books of the Bible written by Moses.
 
Three: Samaria became a refuge for every outlaw, criminal and refugee from justice.
 
So, here is Jesus in Samaria speaking to an unaccompanied woman (prohibited by the Jews), speaking to a Samaritan (strongly prohibited), and lastly, speaking to a woman with a ‘sketchy’ past (definitely prohibited).
 
The other women of the area would draw their water in the cool of the day, probably early morning, so why was this Samaritan woman drawing her water in the evening? According to Jesus and her own admission, she had had five husbands, and the man she was currently living with was not her husband.
 
Regardless of the reason for her five husbands and now living with a man who was not her husband, she was ostracized by others in the community, and probably especially the other women. Can you imagine her feelings of rejection and loneliness? Many folks today can identify with her, and not necessarily for the same reason. The good news is that Jesus is willing to meet with anyone who will come to Him.
 
Jesus asked her for a drink, and she replied, “… How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?’ For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans” (John 4:9).
 
Jesus said to her, as He says to us today, “… If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water” (John 4:10).
 
She then says, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” (John 4:11-12).
 
She didn’t know at this time, but yes, Jesus was greater than their father Jacob. It was probably Jesus that gave Jacob that limp he had when he walked.
 
Jesus never once condemned her but gave her the best news she could ever receive. He said to her, “… Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13-14).
 
At this point, let’s read what John records in John 7:37-39.
 
“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”
 
This dear woman finally realized what Jesus was saying and was so overtaken with joy that she ran back to the village and told others about her encounter with Jesus. Because of her witness, Jesus and His disciples spent two days with the outcasts of Samaria, and many were saved. They were not outcasts in the eyes of God.
 
In Isaiah 55:1-2, the Lord proclaims to us all, “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.”

Daily Jot: The Farm Chronicles–Captain Penny and Jungle Larry - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com
 
My childhood on the farm in Ohio was quite blessed with many different adventures that involved a lot of animals and even more imagination. One of the staples of my week was a television show out of Cleveland on WEWS called Captain Penny. From 1955 to 1971, Ron Penfound was Captain Penny and he hosted cartoons, The Three Stooges, The Little Rascals and more. On any given day, you could find me in front of his noontime or early evening show trying to get the “snow” out of the television by rotating the antenna on the roof through an electric motor with a compass on it. One of my favorite guests on Captain Penny was Jungle Larry and Safari Jane. How I loved what they did with the animals on TV.
 
Jungle Larry Telzlaff would present various animals from his Cedar Point Safari Island location in Sandusky, Ohio. Jungle Larry was dressed in a safari hat with a leopard hatband, a khaki cargo shirt and khaki pants. And he loved God’s creation and called the animals “Wonders of Nature.” As a young boy, Larry Telzlaff of Kalamazoo, Michigan, had a fascination with animals and reptiles. Like me, he collected wildlife and studied them. In fact, he collected snakes, made homes for them, and actually charged a two-cent admission for people to see them in his back yard—all this while he was still in high school. His love for animals eventually landed him a job with a famous animal collector that took Jungle Larry around the world.
 
Each week, I couldn’t wait for Jungle Larry’s segment on Captain Penny. There was so much to learn about God’s kingdom. Prior to this program, my world of animals and wildlife was limited to those on the farm. Jungle Larry taught me about training animals. I even had seven frogs one winter that I trained to ride through the house atop my Tonka trucks. To this day, we laugh about how I would take those frogs out of the aquarium, place them in a line on a towel on the floor, and they would wait their turn to ride around the linoleum dining room floor. When they finished their ride, they would patiently sit while the others took their turn before I put them back in the water. I even had a little suitcase where I carried stuffed animals and those old plastic “cootie” bugs that you would build out by putting on their legs and heads.
 
Visitors to the farm would have to endure my “Jungle Bill” presentation where each of the animals represented something I found on my imaginary safari in Africa. They would have to hear my diatribe against poachers. Jungle Larry also inspired my lifelong desire to go to Africa. I was in love with the culture and adventure that I lived through him each week. And when I finally got to Africa in the 1990’s, I fell in love with the people of Ghana. And today, that love continues as we work together to feed, clothe, provide clean water, and education against human trafficking (a different kind of poaching). I’m thankful for Jungle Larry and his appreciation for Genesis 1:28 where God gave man dominion “over every living thing that moved upon the earth.” And I’m thankful that he sparked God’s plan for my life in connection with Africa.

If you didn’t understand the culture of the day, it would seem rather heartless of the Lord to say what He said: “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:60 NKJV).
 
Jesus had just called someone to follow Him, but the man replied, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father” (verse 59 NKJV). It would seem to us that this man’s father just died, and he was getting ready to bury him.
 
But that wasn’t the case. This was a Near Eastern figure of speech referring to a son’s responsibility to help his father in the family business until the father died and the inheritance was distributed.
 
So, when Jesus said, “Follow Me,” it appears the man already was a believer, and this was a call to service. It seems as though the Lord was calling him to a deeper level of commitment.
 
But this person was making excuses. He was saying, “I have to wait until Dad is gone and the inheritance is divided. I can’t make a commitment like that right now.” He was playing for time, believing that when his father eventually did grow old and die, Jesus would be long gone and he wouldn’t have to worry about it.
 
Has God called you to serve Him in some capacity? Maybe He has spoken to your heart and said, “I want you to serve Me with the gifts that I have given you.”
 
But you’re saying, “I would love to, but I am so busy here. I have this business. I have this passion. I’m a little too busy to serve You right now. I have bills to pay, fun to experience, and family to be involved with. I just don’t have time.”
 
Don’t be like this person and make up excuses. Respond to His call.
