I want to open with a special request: One of Rapture Ready’s well-known prophecy writers (and a great one at that), Geri Ungurean, has health issues that are getting worse (severe osteoporosis, perhaps collapsing spine, much pain). Please pray for her and her family. Thank you. In early Sept. 2022, Pres. Biden characterized MAGA Republicans (Republicans that want to Make America Great Again) as extremists and a threat to the very foundation of our Republic. He said MAGA Republicans embrace anger and thrive on chaos. His divisive speech seems to have stirred up other Democrats. Here is what four more Democrats said (in my words, for the sake of simplicity).
While claiming that they want to work with Republicans and unite America, some of America’s leaders seem to be stirring up division, knowing that a nation divided against itself cannot stand. American voters may soon have to choose between Making America Great Again or continuing America’s slide into the sewer. Here are some articles that recently made the news. One, concerning the ashes of a red heifer (a young female cow) and rebuilding the Temple: on Sept. 15, 2022, the Temple Institute (a group that has rebuilt many of the Temple artifacts, trained priests to serve at the Temple, is working to rebuild the Temple, etc.) announced that they have 5 perfect 5 to 8-month-old red heifers in their possession that have never worn a yoke and were acquired from a ranch in Texas (plus one more that they already had; a source that I trust told me it was born in Aug. 2018. If true, it is old enough to sacrifice now).
One rabbi said, “This is history being made, prophecy being fulfilled.” Another rabbi said, “We are entering days of Messiah” (we are entering the age of redemption, getting close to the appearance of the Messiah). According to the report, the red heifers will need to be quarantined for 10 days; after that, they will be released and very carefully raised. Jews made speeches, shouted, danced in the street, and blew shofars. Ten days from Sept. 15, 2022, is Rosh Hashanah (day of trumpets or shouting). At some point, the Church will be raptured at the last trump (I Cor. 15:51-52). Here is a link to a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxhZPLEPlTo Perfect red heifers (not more than 2 off-color hairs) are extremely rare, but if just one of these red heifers remains perfect until it reaches the age of 2 years and 1 day (it will be counted as 3 years old on the first day after its second year is complete), it can be sacrificed, burned as a burnt offering, the ashes can be collected and used to make water of purification, the water of purification can be sprinkled on priests, and they can serve at a rebuilt Temple).
In Dec. 2021, an outstanding prophecy teacher, William “Bill” Koenig, reported on a group of rabbis and others inspecting red heifers at a ranch in Texas. At that time, I think he said there were 18 red heifers that could possibly qualify, but there was an issue: the red heifer that is sacrificed must be raised in Israel. I don’t know, but I am wondering if only young red heifers (5-8 months old) have been selected because they will qualify as being raised in Israel (more than half their life will be lived in Israel before they reach 2 years and 1 day). Understand these two things: 1) I believe in the pre-Tribulation Rapture, and 2) I believe the Temple will be rebuilt early in the Tribulation Period (after the Antichrist confirms the covenant). If I am right, the Church will be caught up before any Jews are qualified to serve at a rebuilt Temple, so if they sacrifice a red heifer in the next year and a half or so, Christians won’t be here much longer. Here are four more comments, and I will move on.
Those that believe this way call this 1,000-year period of rest the “Millennium.” But notice that the Jewish rabbi said there will be 6,000 years of history plus 1,000 years of rest, for a total of 7,000 years. In addition to what a Jewish rabbi wrote in the Talmud, at least 3 famous early Christians taught that the world would go through a 7,000-year cycle (6,000 years of history plus a Millennium or 1,000 years of rest). Barnabus, the companion of the Apostle Paul, taught it in his writings called the Epistle of Barnabus (Chapter15). (Note: The Epistle of Barnabus is different from a fake document called the Gospel of Barnabus.) Irenaeus, a disciple of Polycarp who was a follower of Jesus’ disciple John the Beloved, taught it. Justin Martyr, also a disciple of Polycarp, taught it. To summarize, this teaching that Jesus will come back after 6,000 years of history is: 1) In the Jewish Talmud, 2) It was taught by the Apostle Paul’s companion Barnabus, and 3) It was taught by at least two famous early Christians (Polycarp and Justin Martyr), followers of Jesus’ disciple John. This is the point: Many experts agree that the Israeli and Gregorian calendars are off, and a few agree that it has been almost 6,000 years since the creation of Adam (one opinion is 5,990 years plus or minus a couple of years). It is interesting that Israel could have a perfect red heifer and humanity could be approaching 6,000 years of history at the same point in time.
We don’t want to be left behind, but the thought that the miracle-working Elijah that confronted Ahab and the prophets of Baal with drought and fire could soon show up to confront the Antichrist, False Prophet, and others with drought and fire is very exciting (I Kings 18; Rev. 11:5-6). Understand this: The Antichrist cannot stop the animal sacrifices unless the Jews restart them, Jewish priests cannot restart the animal sacrifices unless they are sprinkled with living water containing the ashes of a perfect red heifer, the Jews didn’t have a perfect red heifer for more than 1,900 years, but they have six now. We are the only generation that can say this. Two, concerning Covid-19 vaccinations: on Sept. 15, 2022, it was reported that: Denmark recently announced that people under 18 years of age will no longer be vaccinated. Denmark will now refuse to vaccinate most people under 50 years of age. As far as Denmark is concerned, healthy people do not need a double jab and biannual boosters. Three, concerning deceit, wickedness, etc.: on Sept. 17, 2022, it was reported that highly renowned Dr. Pierre Kory is saying that science that goes against the financial interests of Big Pharma, Bill Gates, and other philanthropists is dead. According to Kory, millions of lives could have been saved by treating Covid-19 with Ivermectin and other potentially effective existing treatments, but multitudes were allowed to die because using Ivermectin and other treatments would have had a negative financial impact on Big Pharma, Gates, and others. Kory also believes that people can no longer trust what appears in famous medical journals because many of those Journals have abandoned their main responsibility (reporting true science) and started reporting propaganda that Big Pharma and others want reported because it benefits them financially. They have been putting profits above science, truth, and the lives of people. (More: On Sept. 12, 2022, the Director of the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a letter acknowledging that the CDC gave false information about its Covid-19 vaccine safety monitoring.) (More: On Sept. 17, 2022, it was reported that the death of children ages 5-9 that have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in the UK is 22% higher than the previous two years when children were not vaccinated. So, the UK has now stopped offering vaccinations for healthy children.) Four, concerning owning nothing during the New World Order (world government): on Sept. 19, 2022, it was reported that homeless camps are growing larger in some U.S. cities, and the situation is expected to worsen. Some of the new homeless people have jobs, but their wages aren’t keeping up with higher prices, especially higher rent, and utility prices. Five, concerning the coming hyper-inflation and economic collapse: on Sept. 19, 2022, it was reported that several large companies (Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, and Under Armor) have canceled orders amounting to billions of dollars because they believe inflation is going to keep increasing. (More: According to the U.S. Federal Reserve, interest rates and unemployment must soon be increased substantially if inflation is going to be brought under control. I am not an expert, but I will add that it is my opinion that Biden and the Democrats also need to bring their spending under control.) (More: We keep giving billions of dollars and equipment to Ukraine and millions of dollars in benefits to illegal aliens, but the Pentagon has told our troops to sign up for food stamps.) (More: For what it is worth, I heard one commentator say the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve will be empty around the end of this year. If that is true, the safety of America has been compromised, and the price of gasoline will start increasing again.) Six, concerning a 7-year covenant of peace and safety, the division of Israel, and the Battle of Armageddon: on Sept. 15, 2022, the Biden administration affirmed its commitment to the Two-State Solution and the creation of a Palestinian state next to (and on part of) Israel “so that Israelis and Palestinians can live safely and securely and enjoy equal measures of freedom, security and prosperity.” The U.S. signed a 7-year bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jordan on Sept. 16, 2022. Under the agreement, starting in Fiscal Year 2023, Biden will give Jordan $1.45 billion per year (But U.S. troops need to sign up for food stamps) for 7 years. This is not the 7-year covenant with many mentioned in the Book of Daniel (Dan. 9:27), but it is moving in that direction and could very well bring the judgment of God down on the U.S. (Joel 3:2). For whatever it is worth, I have read other articles that say Saudi Arabia wants to merge Jordan, Gaza, and part of the West Bank into one nation called The Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine (HKOP). Under this plan, the capital would be Amman, not Jerusalem, and Gaza would be ruled by the respected government of Jordan, not Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, etc. I cannot predict how this will come out, but I can say with certainty that the Antichrist will eventually confirm a worthless 7-year covenant. Seven, on Sept. 21, 2022, Russia announced the call-up of 300,000 troops for the war in Ukraine. This may not have anything to do with Israel, but eventually, a massive Russian military will die on the mountains of Israel. Finally, are you Rapture Ready? If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this. [email protected] The Royal Standard - By Hal Lindsey – www.hallindsey.com In Britain, they would call me a “republican.” That’s not a reference to the Republican Party in the United States, but to a person who prefers a republican form of government over a monarchy. That feeling is common among Americans. Most of us here don’t believe a person should rule others just because he or she had the correct mother or father. Even in the United Kingdom, the King doesn’t really rule. Over the centuries, that nation slowly changed into a “parliamentary democracy.” The king or queen is still immensely important — still the head of state — but that importance is now largely symbolic. Yet, with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, even republicans had to be moved at what we saw. Before us stood a grand display of the old and awesome magnificence of monarchy. As a Christian, it reminded me that a real Monarch is coming. Isaiah 9:6 says, “The government will rest on His shoulders” (NASB). The next verse says, “There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore.” America’s founding fathers based our constitution on a biblical understanding of human nature. We are a fallen version of God’s original human design. We have taken on a sin nature. Because the founders believed this, they refused to place too much power in any one person. That’s why they filled the constitution with checks and balances. But what if you could have a King who is filled with perfect love, acts with perfect justice, and has a perfect understanding of all things? What if that King could never die nor leave the throne to evil heirs? If a perfect leader could be found, a government resting on His shoulders would be the perfect form of government. That’s Jesus. Perfect in every way. Until He takes charge, I prefer our constitutional republic over monarchy when it comes to human government. But even now, I have a King. I am His subject. My great honor is that I am allowed to stand in His presence and to serve Him. If you’ve ever visited one of the royal palaces, you were probably told that when the Queen (now the King) is in residence, a flag called the Royal Standard is flown. We used to sing a little song about that called “Joy is the Flag.” As far as I can tell, the author is unknown. His or her idea was that we Christians have a royal standard that flies over us when King Jesus resides within. It says, “Joy is the flag flown high from the castle of my heart, for the King is in residence there.” If you pay attention to the news, you are well aware of problems inundating the human race. But no matter how much news you consume, your awareness remains incomplete. The wave of bad news is so intense right now that no one can keep up. Humanity faces devastating crises on all sides. So how are you supposed to have joy in the face of all that? Your joy as a Christian is not based on your circumstances. It is based on the identity and perfection of your King. His presence is your source of joy. You know the King of kings — the Lord of the universe — and you know Him personally. He is a Friend closer than a brother. If you don’t know Him, you can. He knocks at the door of every heart, and when we let Him in, joy follows. This doesn’t mean you will never experience sadness or loss as a Christian. But it does mean that even in the darkest hour, His light shines. James 1:2 explains the Christian attitude toward the suffering of trials. It says, “Consider it all joy!” No matter what you face, the King of kings resides within you, lovingly watches over you, and faces those trials with you. Prophecy Update Videos

Is the world on the verge of a global Holodomor on steroids? Perhaps it’s time to learn the story pertaining to this Ukrainian word as history repeats itself. As we are forced to watch the global economy being systematically destroyed, the reality is bringing into much clearer view the fact that this is an engineered depopulation phenomenon. The powers that be are pulling the pin on industrialized agriculture under the guise of saving the planet from ‘climate change’ – pushing over the dominoes that will eventually lead to mass starvation. This has happened before, though on a much smaller scale. The Holodomor – a deliberate man-made famine that occurred in Ukraine between 1932 and 1933 – appears to be making a return amid all the financial and economic chaos we are presently witnessing. The term Hólodomor is a combination of the Ukrainian words holod (hunger) and mor (extermination). This famine resulted in the deaths of at least 3.9 million Ukrainians through forced labor, executions and starvation. The Soviets actively silenced news of the famine, forbidding government officials and journalists alike from writing about it or even discussing it. Stalin covered up the 1937 census results to disguise the massive death toll. At least 18 countries around the world, including the US and the Vatican, have recognized the horrendous event as a State-sanctioned genocide, but Russia continues to deny the fact. On the surface, the Holodomor was disguised as the need for bread for the cities, amplified by the USSR’s rapid industrialization. While the need for bread in the cities was real, the Holodomor was actually carried out by the Soviet government as part of the broader famine that affected the grain-growing regions of Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan from 1931 onwards. It was also part of a much more focused campaign of repression and persecution against Ukrainian identity, one specifically aimed at destroying any seeds of independence and cultural autonomy following the Soviet-Ukrainian War in which Ukraine had briefly established itself as an independent state from 1917 to 1921 – the year the civil war between the Red Army (the Bolsheviks) and the Whites came to an end. In 1929, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin ordered the collectivization of agriculture in Ukraine, forcing farmers to forfeit their lands to the State to work on collective farms, with a set amount of the harvest going to the State. Some small subsistence farmers – the Kulaks (rich peasants) as they were called by the Soviets – resisted. Those caught were declared enemies of the State and either sent to forced-labor camps or simply eliminated. Plans were also made to deport as many as 50,000 Ukrainian families. By the autumn of 1932, the Soviet quota for grain was so high that the Ukrainian farmers were 60% short of the target. In punishment for missing the quota, families were forced to give up the grain they had set aside to feed themselves. Some, suspected of hoarding grain, were imprisoned. Stalin also used the farmers’ failure to meet the quota as an excuse to further intensify his campaign against the Ukrainian identity, issuing a ban on the use of the Ukrainian language in official correspondence. The food shortages and famine caused by the Soviet collectivization sparked peasant revolts. In response the Soviets took even stronger action against the Ukrainians, preventing food from reaching certain farms, villages, and towns and barring peasants from trying to leave the Ukraine to find food. When a further-increased quota for grain was not met in the harsh winter of 1932-33 Soviets broke into peasant’s homes, taking all the edible goods they had set aside for themselves. With no more room in prisons and labor camps and with the Ukrainian peasant population decimated the Soviets were forced to ease the collectivization program, but by then the damage was done. The globalization that has occurred post World War 2 has made it possible to inflict another Holodomor, this time on a global scale. Global trade has become the glue that holds together life as we presently know it, but the Covid crisis, the war in Ukraine and financial chicanery has created favorable conditions for a worldwide genocide event. What we are seeing transpire with the targeting of carbon, nitrogen and other food-growing fertilizers and nutrients is part of that. Without agriculture people will die on a scale far surpassing the horrors that devastated Ukraine back in the 1930s, and once again Ukraine is ground-zero for the mass genocide that is unfolding, though in a much different context this time. Back then it was Joseph Stalin who ordered all Ukrainian agriculture to be collectivized, with those refusing to comply being declared enemies of the State. Fast forward to Dutch farmers of today – to give one example. If they refuse to cull their herds and to stop growing food in order to halt ‘climate change’ they’re subjected to punishments by their government. Ukraine has been known as the breadbasket of Europe for centuries. This title is entirely accurate given that it is home to around a quarter of the world’s super-fertile chernózem – or black soil. The yet-untapped potential of Ukraine’s agricultural sector is staggering. Prior to the Russia/Ukraine war 32 million hectares were cultivated annually, representing an area larger than Italy. It boasts around 42 million hectares of prime agricultural land and is the world’s largest producer of sunflower seed as well as a key exporter of wheat, rapeseed, barley, vegetable oil and maize, but Russia’s aggression since February 2022 has undermined its capacity to harvest and export crops. No major disruption to crop production is anticipated in Russia, but uncertainties exist over its capacity to export even though international sanctions have so far exempted both food and fertilizers. Russia is the world’s largest exporter of wheat and an important exporter of barley and sunflower seed, as well as being a leading exporter of energy and fertilizers. A reduction in export capacity from Ukraine and Russia – along with rising fertilizer and energy prices – are pushing up international food prices, thereby threatening global food security. Recent findings suggest that the full loss of Ukraine’s capacity to export, together with a 50% reduction in Russian wheat export, could lead to a 34% increase in international wheat prices in the 2022/23 marketing year. In the Tribulation Period, famine will strike the Earth when the third seal is opened and the rider on the Black Horse comes forth, leaving many throughout the world writhing in the clutches of stabbing hunger. We praise God that we will be taken at the rapture prior to the judgement which will befall the Earth. Yet, we must also recognize the urgency of the hour, ensuring that we redeem the time and reach out to the lost with the soul-saving message of the gospel. About To See The Fullness - By Dennis Huebshman - https://www.raptureready.com/2022/09/24/about-to-see-the-fullness-by-dennis-huebshman/ Romans 11:11 and 25-27; “So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass, Salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous…. Lest you be wise in your own sight, I did not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers; a partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way, all Israel will be saved, as it is written, ‘The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will banish ungodliness from Jacob; and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.'” (ESV – all emphasis mine) For any so-called evangelical group to say God has turned away from Israel and “replaced” them with the Christian church, there is a great misunderstanding of the nature of our Heavenly Father. Genesis 12:1-3; “Now the Lord said to Abram, Go from your country and your kindred, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation; and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you; and him who dishonors you, I will curse, and in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Whenever we see “I will” when God is talking in the Scriptures, it is a promise from Him that He will never break. Our Father cannot lie (Titus 1:2), nor would He have reason to. After all, we’re His creation. He could dominate us completely and force us all into servitude, but that is not His nature. Ours is truly a loving God, and He has a love for us that we can barely comprehend. John 3:16 tells us this. And for those who say all those promises were thousands of years ago and no longer apply to our “modern” world, let’s look at 2 Peter 3:8-9; “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” Please understand that God is not bound by a clock as we are, and He created time for us, as given in Genesis 1. Does all this mean that the Father believes everyone will be saved? As Paul would say, By No Means! Matthew 7:13-14 is where Jesus tells us about the two distinct gates – one large and one small. The larger gate is on the broad path leading to destruction, and many will be going through that gate to eternal punishment. The smaller gate is the path to eternal life with Jesus in Heaven, and there will be few on it. We are seeing a turning away from anything to do with Jesus and Christianity worldwide today. Besides the fact that the Rapture will take place to honor God’s promise to keep all true believers from the coming wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 and Revelation 3:10), it will mark the beginning of the discipline of His chosen people who have not accepted Jesus as their Messiah. Of the total Jewish population worldwide (about 15.2 million by 2022 census), only about 1% to 2% are Messianic as they have received and accepted Jesus as their Savior. These will not be here for the Tribulation but will go up with all other believers to meet Jesus in the air at the sound of the Trumpet of God and the cry from the archangel. After that, God will return His attention to His children, Israel. Sadly, according to the prophet Zechariah, about 2/3 of those who are left behind will perish. Please understand that religion does not save us. What saves us is our faith and belief that Jesus is truly our Savior — that He did come to this earth to provide the only means by which we can be saved, that as a “human,” He died on that cruel cross, and His body was raised to life by the Father three days later. All who call on Him will be saved (Romans 10:9-13). It should be noted that the “Spirit” of Jesus was with the Father immediately upon His human death. In Luke 23:43, Jesus told the repentant criminal that was crucified at the same time as Him that he would be with Jesus that day in Paradise. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that he would rather depart and be with Jesus, meaning he understood that at his last breath, he would be in the presence of the Lord. Calling on the Lord is an individual issue, which each individual person must do for themselves. No preacher, parent, Rabbi, priest, or whatever can save anyone. In fact, just look at who the Savior had the most trouble with. It was the majority of the religious leaders of His time here. Only a few accepted Him for who He really was. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it very clear that we cannot be saved through our own works. We are saved by the Grace of the Savior through Faith, which is a gift from the Father. No special ceremonies, no monetary contributions, no special deeds every day will earn even one second in Glory. Anything we do is to bring honor to the Lord, and we acknowledge all praise and glory belongs to Him. As for the “fullness,” all the signs given to us by Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, and others are here at the same time. They have all taken place to a degree in the past but not to the level and extent of today. What will be the actual event that the Father has preordained to be the “switch” to activate the Rapture has not been shared with us. It could be a certain number of souls calling on Jesus to be saved, a special event that will take place in the world, or even a specific individual becoming saved. We just don’t know. However, Jesus gave us an indication of it being close with His statement in Luke 21:28. He said that when the events that He and the prophets spoke of “begin” to take place, His coming is near. What’s sometimes hard to remember is God’s timing is not ours. It can safely be said that this world has taken a turn for the worse, and the beginning the Savior spoke of started about a decade ago. Paul said the Rapture will take place in “the twinkling of an eye.” Just know that this is less than one second and could happen at any time now. Please know that the Father will turn no one away who truly calls out to Jesus to be saved. No one has sinned so greatly that the blood of Jesus cannot cover them. The unforgivable sin is to take your last breath on this earth without having Jesus in your heart. Also, the Father will not force anyone with their decision. It is a free-will choice that each person must make for themselves. For those who choose this world, and ultimately choose Satan, Revelation 20:11-15 gives their destiny. Hell is forever, and there is no pardon there. Today would not be too early as the “fullness” could take place at any time. Call on the Savior to forgive you and to come into your heart as your eternal Lord of Lord and King of Kings. You will be forever grateful that you did! Come, Lord Jesus! [email protected] Daily Jot: The Farm Chronicles: Bicycle adventures - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Griffith Road is a diagonal one mile stretch between old route 627 (now 225) and McClintocksburg Rd. Our farm was located about in the middle of it. Growing up, it was a rare occasion to see two cars travel that road during the day. Might see tractors, even a team of horses pulling a wagon, or a loose cow or two meandering by the ditch near the hole in the fence they just created. Overall, it was a peaceful road with six farms feeding into it. Mom was concerned about me riding my bike on the road because she didn’t want me to get hit by a car. Little by little, I convinced her that I was responsible enough to watch out for the random car or farm truck that might pass by. This opened the door to many adventures. I loved riding my bike down to the end of the road—either end. On the West end was Wilbur and Joyce Tomlinson’s dairy farm. Joyce’s birthday was the same day as mine, only she was about my Mom’s age. Joyce was a lovely woman. Wilbur was a hard-nosed, no nonsense farmer. During the summer haying season, my older brothers often would get a call to come help Wilbur get his hay in. They were very reluctant because he was such a taskmaster. Before you get to the West end Tomlinson’s, there was the McClure’s. They had land on both sides of the road and two houses. One house was rented and the other they lived in. These often were cookie stops along the route on certain days, maybe even pie. Across from our farm was a large field. It had a rutted-out path from the road across the field, through a gate and into the barnyard of Clayte and Edna Jones’ beautiful Victorian farmhouse. It was sometimes really difficult peddling my way across the field, up a slight hill, then having to stop to open the gate, walk my bike through it, and make sure I close the gate so the cows didn’t get out. Then peddle the rest of the way up to the house. Edna—Mrs. Jones—treated me as if I was her own child. She loved to invite me into her kitchen, which looked like something out of the late 1800s with the old wood-fired cook stove. Now, those were some championship cookies that came out of that old oven. On the East end lived Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson, an older couple who had a small farm. Mrs. Tomlinson always appreciated me stopping by. She, too, would have fresh-baked cookies and often asked me in for a visit. They also sold eggs and I was dispatched regularly to ride my bike there to get two dozen eggs. One time, no one was home. I knocked on the door. No answer. Through the glass, I saw the eggs on the kitchen table. I walked in, put the dollar on the table and fetched the eggs. When I got home and Mom found out what I did, she was furious. She said I had no right to enter anyone’s home unless invited and that I must go back, return the eggs and apologize. Mrs. Tomlinson was very gracious and understood the lesson Mom was teaching. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” To this day, I am respectful of people’s privacy and property because of that lesson. But cookies are still hard to resist! This statement was prompted by the following question from the disciples: “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” (verse 6 NLT). The disciples thought that the Messiah, Jesus, had come to establish the Kingdom of God on Earth. This was why it seemed like a mistake when He was crucified. But as the Scriptures foretold, the Messiah would come first to suffer and die for the sins of the world. Then He would return to Earth and establish His Kingdom therein. Jesus told them, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know” (verse 7 NLT). In other words, “Guys, will you get over this already? I’m not going to establish My earthly kingdom right now. That will come later. Stop focusing on when I’ll return and instead focus on what you are to do until I return.” Today, there are still people asking when Jesus is coming back. And an occasional misguided person will say they know the date of Christ’s return. But Jesus said, “No one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows” (Matthew 24:36 NLT). Our focus, therefore, should be on what we’re supposed to do while we await Christ’s return. The early Church had a job to do, and so do we. Jesus’s words in Acts 1 were not only for the first-century believers. He is still calling us to tell people everywhere about Him.
