Hebrews 10:25 is the source of this article’s title and says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Is the Day approaching, and is this the real falling away Paul wrote about in 2nd Thessalonians 2? That passage says that Day and the falling away will end with Jesus coming to meet His redeemed saints in the air and then returning to heaven with them. Actually, the Word says, “the One who restrains” the evil one “will be taken out of the way,” and that one will take over the world. The actual wording is like this: “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed…” (verse 3), then, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way” (verse 7). Chapter 2 of 2nd Thessalonians begins with this introduction: “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him…,” so we know what Paul is talking about, for in his first letter, he described that event in this way: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord” (1st Thessalonians 4:16-17). Revelation 4 pictures their arrival back in heaven at the judgment seat of Christ where the saints receive crowns as rewards for their service. Then, the prophetic account turns to the seven years of tribulation and its beginnings. Here is a consideration to be addressed: From the beginning of Genesis, the six days of creation, and the seventh day when God rested, then one thing after another – Adam begot Cain, then Abel, then Seth, and so on, chronologically, to the coming of Christ and His life and ministry among mankind—all in chronological order as time clicked away. Why, then, do some Bible interpreters maintain that prophecies of the future are not to happen chronologically? They tell us that “this event goes over there, not here” and so forth. That is the claim that this event of the Rapture of the saints is at the end of the Great Tribulation, the last half of the seven years. If that is so, why did the Lord no longer mention His church or the Great Commission? He never gave it anywhere in the time of the tribulation. The 144,000 Jewish evangelists introduced in Revelation 7 are to be the gospel preachers during the seven years, for the church will be gone. They show up for the marriage supper of the Lamb in chapter 19. Then, as the seven feasts God had Moses put on the annual calendar, calling them “convocations,” meaning “rehearsals” that celebrate the seven highest events of the Christian era, why are we to break up that chronological continuity as if one of them, the Feast of Trumpets, must be placed somewhere out of that order? When Jesus ascended to heaven, as Acts 1 reports it, the angel said to the disciples, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” At the future Second Coming when Jesus returns to the earth, “every eye will see Him coming in His majestic glory as He plants His feet on the Mount of Olives.” What will believers see when they “see the Day approaching?” It will be the signs of the times called “the falling away.” Some years ago it was a falling away from faith, leaving church aside as the excitement or troubles of the world pushed God out of our lives. But now, today, at this time, it is a turning away from the faith, yes, but also from moral integrity, impartial justice, law-abiding, caring for others rather than killing them, honesty and patriotism of citizenship. Every segment of the world’s cultures is experiencing this downward trend. The mantra of the Biden administration here in America is “build back better,” and to get to that position requires a tearing down of what is thought to be bad. I can say with certainty that in my 89 years of life, there has never been this kind of “falling away” (tearing down) before in America. And how can one “build back better” when there is nothing left with which to build back? Obviously, their “better” is without truth, justice and moral integrity. Primary in that is the current sexual immorality that has become the driving goal of the LGBTQ+ faction to force their concept of lifestyle upon the population. In Paul’s epistle to the believers in Rome, he holds back nothing in describing how evil people in the past have reaped God’s judgment as they turned away from Him. He wrote that having had the knowledge of God, now they are without excuse: “For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness. “They are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them” (Romans 1:26-32). (Read the whole passage, verses 18-32, for its full impact.) Is this identifying the characteristics of the current “falling away” and not just something in the past? Notice that those who encourage those practices are also under God’s judgment. The breadth of that intention reaches out to include abortion as a health issue for women. It includes trans-gender confusion about a person thinking his birth gender can be changed from male to female. All human beings are made in God’s image, and no one can surgically change his or her gender from what it is at birth. Living the lie that it can be done defies all truth, logic and honesty. That total landscape of contrary thought is from the depths of hell, an effort of Satan to destroy God’s greatest creation that was made in His image. It is a slap in God’s face that says to Him, “God, You fouled up; now look what your “greatest creation” looks like. Look how they despise You!” And many of the population follow dutifully along. That spiritual warfare has been going on since the beginning of time, and believers in God have had their continual struggles to resist Satan’s tactics for the whole time. The devil is not always successful. Look at his failure in the life of Job, recorded in the Bible. The devil’s temptations are common to man and follow three basic patterns—lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. And Jesus rebuked Satan with the Word of God. Luke wrote of what Jesus predicted about how society and the culture will be when He returns “as a thief in the night.” In Luke 17:26-30, He compares the times of Noah and of Lot with the activities and attitudes of people around the world as the looming Day of the Lord is approaching. In Luke’s account, Jesus said, “As it was in the day of Noah, so will it be in the day of the revealing of the Son of Man.” Genesis 6:5 capsulizes the world’s spiritual condition—except for Noah and his family: “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Then Jesus describes how their underlying sinfulness played out in their lives, saying in Luke 17:27, “They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.” There seems to be a “party time atmosphere” hidden in that statement, a time when God is of no consequence, yet hopelessness underlies their existence. The basic theme of the Day of the Lord and Christ’s coming back for His body of believers is Resurrection. In 1 Corinthians 15:50-53, it is described this way by Paul: “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” However, verse 32b in that chapter’s context indicates the hopelessness of those who do not believe there is such a thing as “resurrection.” Therefore, as the verse says, “If the dead do not rise, ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!'” Is this the meaning of what is happening now, “as it was in the days of Noah”? Likewise, Jesus said, “As it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” The full account is in Genesis 19 and reveals that the whole city of Sodom was saturated totally with homosexual men, and their burning lust for the two “men” (angels) compelled them. They were not aware of their “approaching day.” As Lot left the city under the angels’ protection, it was destroyed by fire and brimstone, people and all! Jesus personally announced this coming resurrection in the same manner that Paul describes it in his letters to the Thessalonians when He was helping the sisters of Lazarus to understand a future resurrection: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.” There will be a resurrection of the dead and living believers. It will happen before the “Pre-wrath rapture theory”; it will happen before the “Mid-trib rapture theory”; it will happen before the seven-year tribulation period gets underway. It will open up that time of tribulation God has set up as that missing 70th week of Daniel (see Daniel 9:20-27). There is a Day approaching. Are we seeing it yet? The regime-run SANA news agency reported that Israeli missiles appeared over the skies of the Syrian capital at 11:45 PM Sunday night. Citing a Syrian military source, state media said the strikes were launched from the direction of the “Israeli-occupied Golan Heights” had targeted several sites it did not identify. “Our air defences confronted the aggressors’ missiles and downed some of them with only material losses,” said the military source. While authorities said no one was injured during the bombardment and only material damage was sustained at unspecified sites. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, however, reported there were 5 Syrian casualties and extensive damage to Hezbollah and Iranian infrastructure. Iran’s proxy militias, led by Hezbollah, now control large areas of eastern, southern and northern Syria and in several suburbs around Damascus. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit neither confirmed or denied involvement in the latest attack – although Israeli officials have previously acknowledged mounting hundreds of attacks on Iranian-linked targets in Syria from which the Islamic Republic and its proxies have tried to attack neighboring Israel over the last decade, repeatedly stating that Iran’s presence just over the northern frontier will not be tolerated. “There is a clear policy of preventing Iran from entrenching in Syria, from building an infrastructure that threatens Israel, a terrorist infrastructure that seeks to turn the quiet Golan Heights border into a war-fighting border,” Security Cabinet Minister Israel Katz said while speaking to Army Radio. Iranian leaders have frequently threatened to annihilate the Jewish State. The regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has never publicly acknowledged that Iranian forces operate on Syrian soil, claiming Tehran only has military advisors on the ground to help battle insurgents in the civil war that has raged since 2011. Western intelligence sources say the Islamic Republic has stepped up aerial weapons shipments to its terrorist proxies, including Hezbollah, in attempts to evade IDF strikes on overland ground convoys amid Israel’s escalation to eliminate Iranian-linked targets inside Syria as part of the “shadow war” between the two arch-foes. Research centers for weapons development and munitions depots operated by IRGC have particularly been in the IDF’s crosshairs. Although many may simply view Israeli strikes in Syria as a regular occurrence in the region, Christians take particular notice when discussing military actions in the country’s capital. That is because Damascus, which is the longest continually inhabited city in the world, has its future end detailed in Scripture. Jack Hibbs, the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, after an Israeli strike near Damascus last year, explained the city’s Biblical significance. “For those of us who know our Bibles, it’s always an attention-getter whenever we hear about Damascus being involved in any form of warfare,” Hibbs described. “The book of Isaiah chapter 17 tells us that there will be an utter and total devastation that comes to the city of Damascus.” Isaiah 17:1 reads, “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.” “With all that’s going on in the world right now, keep your eye on the news with your Bible open,” Pastor Hibbs underscored. “It may be that such an event will trigger either a regional or world war…” According to Hibbs and many other Bible Prophecy students, Damascus’ future destruction may also be the catalyst for “the Ezekiel 38 battle,” in-which Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others come together from the north, with weaponry supplied by Russia, to attack the Jewish State. National leaders all over the globe are rattling their sabers, and that should deeply alarm all of us. The last time that there was a “world war”, tens of millions of people died. This time around, it could be hundreds of millions or even billions of people. Today, we literally possess the ability to destroy all of humanity. So a worldwide conflict in which nuclear weapons are used should be avoided at all costs, but unfortunately those that are running things seem absolutely determined to push us toward such a conflict anyway. Over the past couple of weeks, there have been so many alarming developments. The following are 11 signs that global conflict could soon spiral completely out of control… #1 Russia just signed a deal to deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus… The defense ministers of Russia and Belarus on Thursday signed a document on the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory, the state-run TASS news agency reported, citing the Defense Ministry of Belarus. Russia will retain control over its non-strategic nuclear weapons stationed in neighboring Belarus, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a document-signing event with his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin in Minsk. “Russia will not transfer nuclear weapons to the Republic of Belarus: control over them and the decision to use them remains with the Russian side,” he said. #2 U.S. and Taiwanese officials have reportedly been talking about bringing Taiwan under the “nuclear umbrella” of the United States. Needless to say, such a move would make war with China much more likely… There seems to be a growing demand for a US ‘nuclear umbrella’ in Taiwan amid increasing belligerence by China in the Asia Pacific region. The desire for such a ‘nuclear umbrella’ against a potential invasion by China – which is already provided to Japan and South Korea by the United States (US) – has reportedly received support from defence experts in Taiwan. The US ‘nuclear umbrella’ will not see the deployment of atomic weapons in Taiwan, but will see the world’s ‘sole superpower’ respond in kind to a nuclear attack by China during an invasion of the island nation. #3 The Russians have just issued an arrest warrant for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham… Russia’s Interior Ministry on Monday issued an arrest warrant for U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham following his comments related to the fighting in Ukraine. In an edited video of his meeting on Friday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that was released by Zelenskyy’s office, Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, noted that “the Russians are dying” and described the U.S. military assistance to the country as “the best money we’ve ever spent.” #4 A senior Taliban commander is boasting that “we will conquer Iran soon”… The Taliban threatened on Sunday that it could conquer Iran as tensions increase over water disputes between Afghanistan and Iran, leaving at least three people dead. In a video released by the Taliban, a senior commander in the terrorist organization running Afghanistan warned that the Taliban would fight the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guard “with more passion” than they fought the US forces. He added that the Taliban “will conquer Iran soon if the Taliban’s leaders give the green light. #5 Israel has doubled the number of attacks on Iranian targets inside Syrian territory in recent months… Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday said that he has “doubled the attacks on Iran in Syria” during his several months in office. Gallant also revealed Tehran’s secret sea war against Israel, presenting new photographic evidence of five different ships it is using to establish another front against the Jewish state. #6 Hezbollah just conducted major military exercises very close to the border with Israel… The military exercise was unusual not only because it was made public — nearly 400 people attended, including Hezbollah supporters and several journalists — but also because it was conducted only 12 miles north of the Israeli border, just outside an area where militias are not allowed to operate under a UN Security Council resolution adopted in 2006. #7 Most Americans don’t realize this, but U.S. troops will soon be deployed in Peru… Unbeknown, it seems, to most people in Peru and the US (considering the paucity of media coverage in both countries), US military personnel will soon be landing in Peru. The plenary session of Peru’s Congress last Thursday (May 18) authorised the entry of US troops onto Peruvian soil with the ostensible purpose of carrying out “cooperation activities” with Peru’s armed forces and national police. #8 Violent clashes in Kosovo have resulted in more than two dozen NATO troops being injured… NATO-led troops and police clashed with protesters in Northern Kosovo Monday amid an ongoing standoff between ethnic Albanian authorities and local ethnic Serbs who ignored warnings not to seize municipality buildings. The violence comes after Kosovo’s police raided Serb-dominated areas in the region’s north and seized local municipality buildings over the weekend. The demonstrations have led to injuries on both sides, which more than two dozen NATO troops injured. #9 The U.S. military is building a brand new base in northern Syria. Apparently the U.S. occupation of large portions of Syrian territory is not going to end any time soon… The US-led anti-ISIS coalition is building a new military base in Syria’s northern province of Raqqa, The New Arab reported, citing a source close to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The US backs the SDF and keeps about 900 troops (officially at least) in eastern Syria, allowing the US to control about one-third of Syria’s territory. The report said there are currently about 24 US-led military sites spread throughout eastern Syria. #10 North Korea is claiming that the U.S. and South Korea have just conducted an “invasion rehearsal”… The South Korean and U.S. militaries conducted large live-fire drills near the border with North Korea on Thursday, despite the North’s warning that it won’t tolerate what it calls an invasion rehearsal on its doorstep. The drills, the first of five rounds of live-fire exercises through mid-June, mark 70 years since the establishment of the military alliance between Seoul and Washington. North Korea typically reacts to such major South Korean-U.S. exercises with missile and other weapons tests. #11 Due to “security concerns”, dozens of “satellite phones for emergency communication” are being issued to members of the U.S. Senate… Amid growing concerns of security risks to members of Congress, over 50 senators have been issued satellite phones for emergency communication, people familiar with the measures told CBS News. The devices are part of a series of new security measures being offered to senators by the Senate Sergeant at Arms, who took over shortly after the assault on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The satellite phone technology has been offered to all 100 senators. CBS News has learned at least 50 have accepted the phones, which Senate administrative staff recommend senators keep in close proximity during their travels. We have never seen such a dramatic measure ever be taken before. Are they preparing for something? I wish that I knew. But what I do know is that we are certainly living during a time of “wars and rumors of wars”, and it definitely isn’t going to take much to push us over a line that will never be able to be uncrossed. But for now, most people in the western world simply are not paying attention to what is going on. Most of them just assume that our leaders are wise, competent and will be able to keep us out of any sort of nuclear conflict. I received a message the other day from a sister who lives across the country. She poured out her heart, telling me how waiting for the rapture and all she’s seeing in the meantime is wearing her down some days. I could only reply and tell her I was feeling the same. Truthfully, when Covid struck three years ago, I thought we would be making our exit via the rapture soon, like, way sooner than this. I started ranting to people about how close the rapture had to be. Yet, here I am, still waiting. I still believe it’s close, but close has taken on a new meaning these days. I’ve come to understand that close could be today, ten days, or even two years away. Considering all that’s at stake, that at our departure, lives will be traumatized and some lost, I must remember to keep “them” in mind, those poor souls who will be left behind. Our waiting is based upon the goodness of a God who, in His mercy, desires that none perish but that all would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). I sometimes feel kind of selfish since I know what will befall “them,” and still I long for Jesus’ appearing each and every day. That longing doesn’t make me or my faraway sister or you selfish. In Titus 2:13, we’re told the rapture is our blessed hope, and 2 Timothy 4:8 promises a crown of righteousness for all who love His appearing. Our homesick hearts are longing for home. Yet here we all are, still waiting. I’m hanging in there. On the longest of long days waiting, I remind myself that God can’t lie. He says He will come, so He’ll come! When you think of it, the entire concept of the rapture is preposterous. Seriously, the dead rising and the alive being caught up seems like some impossible fantasy–unless you’ve read the Word of God and see just how truly spectacular He has historically made a way. He’s been known to part a sea and part a river to deliver His people. He floated a family in an ark as a means of rescue. He took a prophet to heaven in a blazing chariot. All that tells me that a little thing like a rapture will be an easy feat for the Creator of galaxies. The wearing down of us watchers makes complete sense, especially when we’re surrounded by rain clouds of doubting Christians, mockers and scoffers who try to convince us to hunker in a bunker stocked with food for seven years. Or Christians who say we’re already living in the millennial kingdom (yeah, whatever). Doubters abound, and rapture watchers get tired. So my message to you today is the same as mine was to her: First, I admit I get worn too and need to focus on what fosters my faith rather than what fuels my fear. I’ll share with you the best advice I’ve been given (by the Holy Spirit), which is to watch less of the rising darkness and focus more on the coming Light. Rapture videos from various sources always encourage me and help me in the waiting. When life is going on day after day, it’s easy to lose sight of its certainty. I need reminders week after week. I have a small collection of rapture videos and articles by some of my favorite teachers on the Rapture page of my site. Maybe they will be the shot in the arm you need to remember that help is on the way. Next and best, I advise you to cling to Jesus. That’s not just Bible talk. It’s our only hope of retaining our sanity. If you’re not having a quiet time daily, do it. Read the Psalms. Read the Gospels. Saturate yourself in the Word. Nothing calms fear like the presence of Jesus. Nothing gives renewed strength and revived energy like walking with the Son of God. Watching the world drains. Reaching for the Word restores. As I mentioned in the opening of the article, another point I shared with my friend was that it’s God’s mercy that keeps us here. What we suffer for this brief time pales in comparison to what the left behind will have to endure. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13), so let’s hang on a little while longer for “their” sakes. I’ll now tell you my final words of reassurance that I wrote to her. You’re not alone. I know it feels as if you are. In her case, rain-cloud Christians and rapture-doubting Christians are her closest friends and relatives. That may be your trouble as well. And if you do have one or two in your life who are waiting and watching as you are, be the encourager to them that you long to have for yourself. This “transmania” is underscored by the complicity of media, government and corporations working together against children much like they conspired with the ineffective and unsafe vaccines during COVID. Already, Americans are pushing back hard, but government-corporate-media partnership targeting children continues relentlessly. In just the past month Bud Light and Target, who blatantly promoted this depravity have lost billions in market cap and are trying to recover from public disgust. Examples of this spiritual war are found all across the country. The Epoch Times reports that the Queer Trans Project in Florida has mailed “959 kits to recipients in every state except North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Vermont, and Montana. The group hopes to double that amount this year.” Most recipients are youth, according the director of the group. It’s against the law in Florida, but the director doesn’t care, saying they will fight for their rights in court. In Ohio, Parents Defending Education, a national non-profit aimed at reclaiming schools from activists promoting harmful agendas, has filed a federal lawsuit against a Columbus-area school district for violating the free speech rights of students with its “Transgender Guidelines.” Parents Defending Education is suing the Olentangy Local School District Board of Education alleging that “District policies violate students’ First Amendment rights by chilling students’ speech rights, compelling students to affirm beliefs about sex and gender that are contrary to their own deeply held beliefs, and violating parents’ Fourteenth Amendment rights through the district’s efforts to restrict speech off school grounds and in families’ homes.” On May 17, some 200 parents and pastors in Frederick County, Maryland rallied at the school system’s offices against the existing transgender policies, which are similar to those in Ohio. No press coverage of the event or the reasonable policy presented as an alternative. The American pastime of baseball also has been tarnished by transmania. Celebrating the LGBTQ+++ “Pride Day,” which also targets children, the Los Angeles Dodgers invited the blasphemous trans-queer group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to perform. In response, the Catholic advocacy organization CatholicVote announced a million dollar ad campaign calling for a boycott of the Dodgers. Boycotts reportedly already have cost Bud Light $18 billion and Target $9 billion in lost market cap and sales. This spiritual war is raging. As in Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against power, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This whole “transmania“ is far, far worse and darker than, say it with me…Stupidocrisy. That’s because they’re searching for it in the wrong way. We learn from the Bible that happiness is a by-product of holiness. And when we get our priorities in order, happiness will soon follow. That is why nonbelievers never will know true happiness. They keep going after the devil’s cheap counterfeits; they have no deep well from which to draw. In Psalm 119, we find God’s original design for finding and maintaining holiness. And as a result, we will discover happiness. The psalmist wrote, “Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths” (verses 1–3 NLT). From the very beginning of our lives, we learn the importance of walking. It’s interesting how little children immediately start moving in that direction. But they don’t quit after they take their first steps. They keep trying. We grow as Christians in the same way. When we commit our lives to Christ, we begin to walk in the way of the Lord. And if we fall, we need to get up and keep trying. Walking speaks of progression, of moving forward as opposed to simply standing still. And if we want to be truly happy and holy people, then we should not only avoid what is wrong but also actively engage in what is right. People who are merely trying to avoid evil are missing the point. It is not merely a matter of what we don’t do. It’s also a matter of what we do. We must engage in spiritual growth and in godly living. We must walk in the way of the Lord.
