I constantly receive e-mails from readers who want me to give them my opinion on how close we are to the Rapture.
 
Some keep rephrasing the question and asking again and again.
 
Some say, “I know you don’t know the day or the hour, but will it be in the next few weeks, before the end of this year, what do you think, etc.?”
 
Many readers have been expecting the Rapture to happen for several years, but it has not happened, and they want to know, “How much longer will we have to wait?”
 
One reader recently wrote this:
 
I thought for sure the Rapture was going to happen during the Obama administration, then I thought for sure it was happening during Covid. I see things like AI, cashless society coming, LGBTQ and Trans. I see people who just don’t care anything about God or morals. I mean, we have to be on the cusp of this happening sometime soon, right? I’m not asking for a date; my question is, always, is there any chance we’re just wrong? Or seeing what we want to see?
 
This reader has gone from expecting the Rapture to happen anytime to wondering if it might still be a long time or if we could be misunderstanding the Bible.
 
I totally understand.
 
I have been expecting the Rapture to happen anytime for a long time myself.
 
Having said this, I want to speculate for just a minute, and hopefully, it will be helpful to some who are wondering about how long it will be.
 
I believe:
 

• The Rapture will happen before the Tribulation Period begins (often called the Pre-Trib Rapture).
• The Mark of the Beast (a global ID, cashless society, forcing everyone to take the name, number, or Mark of the Antichrist) will begin at the middle of the Tribulation Period.
• The Tribulation Period will last for seven years (2,520 days) on the Jewish calendar.

 
If I am correct about these three beliefs, it means the Rapture will take place a minimum of three and one-half years before the Mark of the Beast (global ID, cashless society, forcing people to take the Mark, etc.) and perhaps more than that (because there could be a gap between the Rapture and the Tribulation Period).
 
The globalists’ goal is to establish a world government by 2030 or sooner.
 
If their world government begins in 2030, the Rapture would be between now and 2030.
 
If they intend to have a global ID, a cashless society, force everyone to take the Mark, etc., by 2030, the Rapture would be in 2026 or sooner (and if there is a gap between the Rapture and the Tribulation Period, the Rapture could be very soon).
 
If the Battle of Gog and Magog were to take place soon, it would accelerate the development of world government (and, therefore, accelerate the Rapture).
 
It may not happen, but a breakthrough in the peace negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia might speed up the seven-year covenant with many (and, therefore, accelerate the Rapture).
 
Anyway, as I said, I am speculating.
 
Obviously, I could be wrong, but I do not think so, and I hope that my speculation helps those who are getting concerned because the Rapture has not happened.
 
God is in control; the Rapture will happen when He wants it to happen, and it will come upon the earth like a snare (catch multitudes by surprise), so be ready and stay ready.
 
Here are some signs that seem to indicate that we are getting close:
 
One, concerning pestilence and persecution: on Aug. 23, 2023, it was reported that the former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Anthony Fauci, expressed his support for another global lockdown and the punishment of those who refuse to be vaccinated.
 
(More: I have seen several reports that say White House staffers have leaked reports that Biden is planning to declare another pandemic and order a few people (airline employees, passengers, etc.) to start wearing face masks as soon as Sept. or Oct. Then, starting in Dec., he hopes to order a full-scale lockdown, try to force vaccinations on everyone again, and require everyone to wear face masks. Some reports say there is no pandemic, but the Biden administration is already signing contracts, buying equipment, and hiring people to push pandemic protocols on the American public for the next several years.)
 
(More: On Aug. 24, 2023, it was reported that a new type of Covid-19 booster shots could be available by mid-Sept.)
 
(More: On Aug. 25, 2023, Pres. Biden told a group of reporters, “People should plan to receive another Covid-19 booster shot in response to a new rising variant.” It was also reported that Biden said, “I signed off this morning on a proposal to present to the Congress requests for additional funding for a new vaccine.”)
 
(More: On Aug. 26, 2023, it was reported that Riverton, Utah Mayor Trent Staggs said he will not enforce a repeat of the Covid protocols. He believes citizens should be allowed to make their own decisions about getting jabbed, locking down, wearing a mask, etc.)
 
(More: I have also seen one report by a Fact Check group that said most of the things reported above are false. It is an established fact that Biden lies, Biden gets confused, deceit is rampant, and it is hard to know what to believe. I find it more difficult by the day to believe everything he says and even what some Fact Check groups say. Biden said he “tentatively” plans to recommend another round of jabs, and that may be where the problem is. “Tentatively” could mean likely but not definitely. Nevertheless, there is a problem: Why has he already signed contracts if he is unsure about what he intends to do?)
 
Two, concerning deceit and pandemics: on Aug. 17, 2023, the Russian Embassy in Washington D.C. said (as I understand it):
 

• The U.S. is conducting illegal research on biological agents that can be used to manage artificial pandemics.
• The U.S. has established labs all over the world to carry out this illegal research under the guise of “epidemiological monitoring.”
• The U.S. is seeking ways to create crises that can be used to advance their interests.

 
According to the article, in March of this year, Russia said the U.S. had built labs and was doing biological research in Ukraine, but the U.S. quickly dismissed it as Russian propaganda.
 
Since that time, the U.S. has admitted that it was supporting more than 40 labs in Ukraine that were working on worthy causes.
 
It makes me wonder, if the U.S. government was deceiving us in March, could they be deceiving us now?
 
Is Russia telling the truth when it accuses the U.S. of working on biological agents that can be used to manage “artificial pandemics?”
 
Three, concerning the return of Jews to the Promised Land at the end of the age: on Aug. 17, 2023, it was reported that about 75,000 Jews immigrated to Israel in 2022, another 34,530 immigrated during the first six months of 2023, and there are about 60,000 in Russia that want to immigrate, but Russia will only allow 2,500 to leave each month.
 
Four, Jesus revealed that there will be Jews in Judaea at the middle of the Tribulation Period (Matt. 24:16).
 
On Aug. 23, 2023, after a year of working on it, a group of architects, engineers, and others presented a plan to Israeli Prime Min. Netanyahu for the construction of cities, industrial parks, a hospital, a railroad, and an airport to boost the Jewish population of Judaea and Samaria to one million people.
 
Five, the Bible teaches that Jerusalem will be expanded and be a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone for the entire world at the end of the age (Zech. 1:16-17; 12:1-3).
 
On Aug. 20, 2023, Israel approved a plan to spend the equivalent of $840 million on improvements and expansion in East Jerusalem over the next five years.
 
The Palestinians claim East Jerusalem; they want it to be the capital of their desired Palestinian state; the Temple Mount is there, and more, but Israel is now going to grow the area, make it more secure, and strengthen her sovereignty over it.
 
Six, concerning the Antichrist’s confirmation of a worthless seven-year covenant with many for peace in the Middle East: last week, I reported that UN Sec. Gen. Guterres has scheduled a meeting for Sept. 18-19 to push world leaders to commit to “seven years of accelerated, sustained, and transformative action, both nationally and internationally, to deliver on the promise of the SDGs” (Sustainable Development Goals that are in essence the creation of a world government).
 
I also noted that the Biden administration wants to conclude a deal by March 2024 (or at least in the next 9-12 months) to normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel (something that they think will lead to peace and safety in the Middle East).
 
Now for the latest.
 
Following three recent visits by U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan to Saudi Arabia, on Aug. 23, 2023, an unidentified senior Israeli official said on the condition of anonymity:
 

• Progress has been made in discussions between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, and an agreement could be reached as “early as next year.”
• “We’re talking about a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel next year, likely early next year.”
• “We’re navigating this diplomatically, and there’s still ground to cover. We’re in talks with both the Saudis and Israelis.”

 
Concerning the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, the talks have been mostly about the safety of Saudi Arabia (the U.S. protecting Saudi Arabia from Iran, the U.S. sending weapons to Saudi Arabia, helping the Saudis build a nuclear reactor, etc.).
 
Concerning the Palestinians and the demands that are being placed on Israel: Ron Dermer, Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister, said the talks have been mostly about the U.S. and Saudi Arabia giving economic aid to the Palestinians, not about Jewish settlement construction or halts in Jewish settlement construction.
 
Understand that a UN agreement to establish a world government in seven years, a likely agreement to establish peace between Saudi Arabia and Israel, and protection (safety) for the Saudis against Iran in early 2024 are extremely big events in Bible prophecy.

Seven, concerning the decline of America and an economic collapse: on Aug. 25, 2025, it was reported that the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) will be joined by Saudi Arabia, Iran, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) effective Jan. 1, 2024.
 
Officials expected the BRICS nations to control 60% of the world’s oil.
 
The addition of these other six nations on Jan. 1, 2024, will give the group control of 80% of the world’s oil.
 
Biden’s decision to shut down the Keystone XL pipeline, suspend new oil and gas drilling permits, sell about 75% of America’s strategic oil reserves, etc., has now left the U.S. in a bad position.
 
It may take a while, but some officials say the price of oil will drastically increase, and that will drive up the price of everything average U.S. citizens buy.
 
(FYI: Russia and Iran are riding high right now, but they will be brought down, and BRICS will be weakened when the Battle of Gog and Magog takes place.)
 
Eight, it has recently been reported that the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are calling for a global digital ID and a global digital currency system that uses trackable Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).
 
We have even been told that these could soon become a reality.
 
Leo Hohmann, a very highly respected researcher and writer, put it like this:
 
Digital ID + CBDC = Total control/tracking of all human activity.
 
Hohmann added, “Once these two totalitarian tools are in place, there will be no turning back.”
 
As I understand it, he was saying (and I agree with him) the system that will lead to the Mark of the Beast will be in place, and it will be unstoppable.
 
Nine, concerning the decline of America: on Aug. 22, 2023, it was reported that the Biben administration has opened 114 gates in Trump’s border wall and welded them open so they cannot be closed by border control agents.
 
(More: On Aug. 28, 2023, it was reported that the DHS has spent $770 million to facilitate illegal immigration.)
 
FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6).
 
Finally, are you Rapture Ready?
 
If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

In the late 1980s, with the Soviet Union on its last legs, critics accused me of getting prophecy regarding Russia wrong. One man wrote, “Where is this terrible menace from the North today? Well, it’s no secret the Soviet Union is undergoing the most significant internal change since the communists came to power 70 years ago…. ‘Rosh’ and ‘Tubal’ are turning out to be a toothless lion…. Even Gorbachev is said to be a baptized Christian.”
 
In the late 80s, Mikhail Gorbachev led the Soviet Union into an era “openness” (glasnost) and restructuring (perestroika). During his leadership, the USSR officially remained an atheist state, but he occasionally said things that made him sound favorably disposed toward Christianity. There was a rumor that he even told a Texas pastor he was “a baptized Christian.”
 
Not long after that, he emphatically reaffirmed his atheism to the press. Gorbachev died in 2022, and I hope he was a Christian. But the big question is not whether he was baptized. The question is, “Can we trust what the Bible says about Russia’s future?” The answer is, “Yes, we can.” Never judge the Bible by current events. But let the Bible give context to those events.
 
In the 1990s, Russia was relatively cooperative with the West. But during the years since Vladimir Putin’s rise to the leadership of Russia, the nation has become increasingly belligerent. A former KGB agent, Putin called the Soviet Union’s collapse, “the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.” How could anyone see it as a “catastrophe” that the evils of communism — its heartbreak, poverty, atheism, and oppression — ended in their country?
 
Going all the way back to the communist revolution, Russia has held a strong and seemingly inexplicable animosity to the nation of Israel. Ezekiel 36 and 37 speak of the restoration of Jews to the Promised Land. Chapters 38 and 39 give the prophecy of Russia leading a confederation of nations in an all-out assault on Israel — an assault that God Himself will stop.
 
Ezekiel 38:2 describes the northern commander as “Gog of the land of Magog, the prince” (meaning ruler) “of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.” In Ezekiel 38:8, God addresses Gog. “In the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations.”
 
Critics say they don’t see Russia in these chapters. Russia didn’t exist as a nation until the 9th century AD. Instead of using the then-nonexistent word “Russia,” the prophet identified the great nation to Israel’s north by laying out its family tree. From that, it becomes obvious that it refers to the modern nation of Russia. I’ve gone into this elsewhere, so I won’t bother doing it here.
 
Others listed as part of the confederacy include Iran, certain African nations, and tribes that were then located in what we now call Turkey. Russia, Turkey, and Iran were sworn enemies for centuries — until the last few years. They have grown ever closer, forming key alliances in several areas. Today, Russia is also closely allied with China, though I don’t know how long that will last.
 
In 1995, another critic wrote, “Perhaps even the likes of Hal Lindsey have ceased predicting the final battle of Armageddon now that Russia’s evil empire has disintegrated.” The writer was confusing Ezekiel 38 with Armageddon. But I didn’t stop talking about either one. The reason is obvious. I’m aware of current events, but I don’t go by them. Instead, I go by the Bible. I teach about Armageddon because the Bible teaches about Armageddon.
 
The writer in 1995 said, “Russia’s evil empire has disintegrated.” Russia did not disintegrate. But the Bible says it is headed toward a disaster. God will take care of Russians who trust Him, but that nation’s leadership opposes the God of the Bible. And it is the Bible that we must go by.

How far would you go to feed your family? Hopefully that is a question that you will not have to answer any time soon, but right now we are seeing millions upon millions of people become more desperate as economic conditions rapidly deteriorate and food costs soar. At this point, most Americans are just barely scraping by from month to month, and in poorer countries on the other side of the world there are people that are literally starving to death. As I have detailed previously, the UN has reported that 2.4 billion people did not have enough food to eat last year, and 900 million of them were facing severe food insecurity. Sadly, those numbers will inevitably be even higher for 2023. A global rice crisis has erupted, and the collapse of the Black Sea grain deal has greatly restricted the flow of agricultural goods from that part of the globe. Food costs are spiking all over the planet, and that is really bad news for all of us.
 
For those of us that live in the United States, the good news is that nobody is starving at this stage.
 
But food prices have become extremely oppressive, and economic conditions are quickly moving in the wrong direction.
 
670,000 full-time jobs have been lost in just the past two months, and on Friday we witnessed the worst unadjusted payrolls report for the month of August since the Great Recession.
 
Yes, things really are that bad.
 
One recent survey discovered that 61 percent of Americans are currently living paycheck to paycheck, but I expect this number to go even higher in the months ahead…
 
Inflation, mortgage rates over 7% and credit card APR’s north of 20% have pushed all income brackets into living paycheck to paycheck, according to a new survey from Lending Club Bank.
 
“In July 2023, 61% of U.S. consumers live paycheck to paycheck, unchanged from June 2023, but 2 percentage points higher than July 2022. Generally, more consumers of all income brackets reported living paycheck to paycheck in July 2023 than last year,” Alia Dudum, a money expert at LendingClub told FOX Business.
 
Things are particularly dire for low income workers. That same survey discovered that a whopping 78 percent of those that earn less than $50,000 a year are living paycheck to paycheck at this point…
 
Lower-income workers have been the hardest hit by higher prices, particularly for food and other necessities, since those expenses account for a bigger share of the budget, studies show.
 
Now, 78% of consumers earning less than $50,000 a year and 65% of those earning between $50,000 and $100,000 were living paycheck to paycheck in July, both up from a year ago, LendingClub found. Of those earning $100,000 or more, only 44% reported living paycheck to paycheck.
 
As I discussed last week, U.S. households that are feeling financial strain are increasingly turning to debt to make ends meet, and this has pushed debt levels to unprecedented heights…
 
Total household debt climbed to a new high in the second quarter of 2023, reaching $17.06 trillion, with credit card debt exceeding $1 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. As interest rates stay high, costs continue to rise for expenses like housing and cars, and student loan payments resume, the amount of debt may rise, according to economists who spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
 
“The amount of debt outstanding, and in particular the surpassing of the $1 trillion mark, is significant and worrisome,” Peter Earle, an economist at the American Institute for Economic Research, told the DCNF. “It owes to a combination of several factors. The initial response to the pandemic, which prominently included the Fed setting policy (interest) rates at essentially zero for several years, made the amount of credit and the price of taking on debt extraordinarily cheap.”
 
As economic conditions get worse, people are becoming more desperate.
 
This is helping to fuel a crime wave all over the nation, and retailers are being forced to implement extreme measures.
 
According to the Wahington Post, a Giant Food store in Washington D.C. is actually going to be taking all Tide, Colgate and Advil products off the shelves completely because theft has become such a problem…
 
In the coming weeks, a Giant Food market in D.C. will clear its beauty and health aisles of all national labels. No more Tide, Colgate or Advil, only store brands. Shoppers also will have to present their receipts to an employee before exiting the store.
 
It’s the regional supermarket chain’s most overt gambit against the rampant theft that’s plaguing retailers of all sizes. It’s also a potential last-ditch effort to avoid shutting down the unprofitable store on Alabama Avenue — the only major grocer east of the Anacostia River in Ward 8.
 
An executive for the chain told the Washington Post that the company has “no other choice” and she noted that other stores in the area have done similar things…
 
“We have no other choice,” Diane Hicks, senior vice president of operations said Thursday during a walk-through with officials from the D.C. mayor’s office, the Metropolitan police and fire departments, and Chamber of Commerce. She added that other nearby stores have locked up all their product on those aisles or removed them altogether. “I’ve been leaving it out for our customers and unfortunately it just forces all the crime to come to us.”
 
This is where our entire society is heading.
 
It is just a matter of time before we see armed guards stationed in grocery stores and on food trucks all over America.
 
Desperate people do desperate things, and right now we are seeing things happen that are absolutely nuts.
 
Just a few days ago, an extremely shocking incident that happened in broad daylight at a Home Depot store in California made headlines all over the nation…
 
Brazen thieves were caught on camera casually walking out with $9,000 worth of goods from separate California stores as lawlessness in the state governed by Gavin Newsom continues.
 
A group of masked thieves stormed into a Home Depot store in Signal Hill on August 27 and stole $5,000 worth of power tools in full view of shocked staff and customers.
 
The seven men loaded two shopping carts with expensive goods and carried as much as possible in their arms before walking out.
 
These sorts of robberies have become so common that I couldn’t possibly cover them all.
 
We really are starting to become a “Mad Max” society.
 
Of course the truth is that the entire world is moving in that direction. Global supplies of food are getting tighter and tighter, and the recent spike in rice prices has created a tremendous amount of concern…
 
Countries worldwide are scrambling to secure rice after a partial ban on exports by India cut global supplies by roughly a fifth. Global food security is already under threat since Russia halted an agreement allowing Ukraine to export wheat and the El Nino weather phenomenon hampers rice production.
 
Now, rice prices are soaring, and it’s putting the most vulnerable people in some of the poorest nations at risk. Vietnam’s rice export prices, for instance, have reached a 15-year high. Even before India’s restrictions, countries already were frantically buying rice in anticipation of scarcity later when the El Nino hit, creating a supply crunch and spiking prices.
 
Civil unrest has already started to erupt in various parts of Africa, but if current trends continue things will get a whole lot worse around the globe in 2024.
 
Are you prepared for what is ahead?
 
Right now, a lot of people are apparently asking that question. In fact, according to Zero Hedge the number of Americans searching for the term “live off grid” on the Internet has hit the highest level in years…
 
What’s piqued our interest is the sudden panic by some Americans searching ‘live off grid’ on the internet, hitting the highest level in five years. The driving force behind finding a rural piece of land for dirt cheap, buying or building a tiny home, installing solar panels, and sourcing your own food and water might have to do with the worst inflation storm in a generation while Democrat cities implode under the weight of soaring violent crime.
 
I have been relentlessly warning my readers that “Mad Max” conditions are coming for years.
 
Anyone that took an honest look at the long-term trends should have been able to see that.
 
Global leaders have been making absolutely disastrous decisions for a very long time, and now we are all going to reap the consequences.

The end-times scent is in the very ambience that surrounds us. Something profound is about to bring change in ways that we can’t fully anticipate. I believe what’s about to change things in this world forever is the great Rapture event.
 
The Rapture will be the sudden disappearance of people from the earth. Only those who are righteous will vanish. All who are left behind will, at that moment, be unrighteous in God’s holy eyes.
 
Again, I believe the key prophecy involving the timing of the Rapture is given in the words of Jesus:
 
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. (Luke 17:28–30)
 
So it is essential that we understand the righteous and the unrighteous. Who exactly are these? To get to the heart of what’s involved, I repeat here what I wrote in a previous article.
 
To begin, we must first consider God’s words to Lot’s uncle, Abraham.
 
The Lord said He would tell Abraham about things to come, because He knew Abraham would do righteously. God wanted him to know His plan to deal with Sodom’s wickedness, once He determined that action was necessary. The Lord, Himself, stood with Lot, then, and discussed Sodom’s fate, while the Lord’s angel-representatives headed down toward Sodom and Gomorrah.
 
And the LORD said, because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? (Genesis 18:20–23)
 
There was then a profound back-and-forth between the Lord God and a lowly human being—Abraham. God answered each of the old man’s questions. Abraham was appealing to God to have those in the wicked cities spared from destruction. He asked if God would relent if 50 were found to be righteous—then 40, then 30, then 20.
 
Finally, after Abraham asked if God would spare the cities if the Lord could find even 10 righteous and 10 couldn’t be found, Sodom and Gomorrah’s fate was sealed.
 
God had said to Abraham before the countdown began—following Abraham’s initial question about the possibility of the cities being spared:
 
That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? (Genesis 18:25)
 
It was almost as if the Lord was mildly indignant to be thought of as being so unjust that He would condemn the righteous with the unrighteous.
 
Alas, there were not 10 righteous left in the city of Sodom. There were only Lot and his small family. God’s Word calls Lot “righteous,” even though Lot dwelt among perhaps the worst culture and society biblically recorded in such detail. The detail was so graphic it made the level of unrighteousness unmistakable.
 
It was business as usual during daylight hours, with the cities being apparently prosperous—buying, selling, building, planting, etc. But when the sun went down, they became a habitation of every sort of evil—particularly of debauchery, with homosexual rapaciousness leading the wickedness. The lustful males came even against the angels who visited Lot.
 
The raging men of the city threatened Lot with the worst possible attack if he didn’t go along with them and send out his visitors. They were on the verge of tearing down the door to get at their would-be victims. The only ones God considered righteous in the city at that moment were hated and threatened by the rest, who were the unrighteous.
 
And this is the angle I would like us to consider for now.
 
Jesus said in Luke 17:28–30 that it will be for those alive at His next revealing like it was at that time for Lot when he was hated and threatened by the wickedness of that society.
 
Lot and his two daughters were the only people who escaped the total destruction that descended upon Sodom and its sister city Gomorrah following their removal from those doomed cities. Thus they were the only people God considered righteous.
 
Now this is a point of considerable questioning of God’s Judgment, in thinking about Lot and those two daughters.
 
Lot…righteous?
 
How can a man who offers his daughters up for rape to a town full of sexual deviants be considered “righteous”?
 
As a matter of fact, how can those two daughters be considered “righteous” when they got their father drunk then had sexual relations with him once they were safely away from Sodom?
 
Yet Lot and those daughters were considered “righteous,” they were, therefore, the only ones who escaped God’s devastating judgment.
 
Here is how Peter confirmed Lot’s righteousness:
 
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds.) (2 Peter 2:6–8)
 
So Lot and his daughters and their comportment are presented as proof that salvation—and the saving out of Sodom—was not because of their good works. They were obviously, in some ways, as corrupt in behavior as the culture in which they were immersed. What, then, made them “righteous”?
 
We go again to the story of Abraham to discover the answer. Here it is, the answer to what makes anyone righteous—thus able to escape God’s wrath against the unrighteous.
 
Moses said of Abraham, under Divine Inspiration: And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. (Genesis 15:6)
 
When a fear-filled jailer asked the Apostle Paul, “What must I do to be saved?” Paul said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16: 31).
 
In other words, Paul was saying that the jailer, those of his household, or anyone else can be saved only through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.
 
Jesus is the way, truth and life (John 14:6). He is the only way to reconciliation with God the Father.
 
This was true looking forward to the cross during Abraham and Lot’s days. It is true today, looking back to the cross on which God’s Only Begotten Son died for the sins of humankind.
 
Belief in Christ is the only way to escape from this doomed planet when Jesus calls believers to Himself in the Rapture. Belief in Jesus as God’s designated route to salvation is the only way to be considered righteous.
 
The story of Lot and his daughters answers the question: Will only Christians walking perfectly with God and looking for the Rapture go to Christ when He calls?
 
Good works will not get anyone to Heaven. Only Christ, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world–the only righteousness God recognizes—will put the believer in the presence of Christ when He says: “Come up here!” (Revelation 4:1).
 
Again, here is how to make sure you hear that call and are taken out of the Tribulation that will devastate the rebels of earth, just like God’s judgment and wrath destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
 
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10: 9-10)

The prophet Joel paints a vivid end time description where the Lord is to sit in judgment in the valley of decision. Joel 3:14 says, “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.” In Joshua 8, there is a similar gathering of the Israelites in the valley between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerazim for a ceremony where the people were to choose to pledge their loyalty to God and He, in turn, pledges to cherish and bless them as His own, a nation in covenant with the one true God. However, if the people choose to not follow the Lord, there were curses. Are you in a valley of decision? And what are the fruits or consequences of your decision’s choices?
 
In Deuteronomy 27, Moses spoke of how the children of Israel would soon enter the land given them by God. They would make offerings onto the Lord, rejoice, and “become the people of the Lord thy God.” During this ceremony in the valley, there would be a declaration of the blessings for obedience (Deuteronomy 28:1-14) and a declaration for the curses caused by disobedience (Deuteronomy 28:15-68). In Jewish tradition, these curses were called the tochacha, or “reprimand”. The purpose for this was to serve as a wake up call to prevent the people from falling into sin and apathy, a clear understanding of what would happen if they did not follow the precepts of the Lord.
 
Consider that these blessings and curses are a metaphor related to fruit, both spiritual and material. In the tochacha, when the people were disobedient there would be no fruit, and many difficulties would come (material and spiritual). But when they were obedient, they were not only blessed with material fruit, but spiritual joy. These essentially are the natural consequences found in God’s law. Is this not so in our lives today? There are blessings when we follow the path of God’s law and there are great difficulties when we do not. In reality, our decisions, or choices, are a natural determination of whether we experience blessings. In my opinion, this is the result of the laws of nature and of nature’s God. The blessings for obedience are by God’s nature both material and spiritual.
 
In John 15:1-4, Jesus metaphorically teaches that apart from Him we can’t bear fruit, saying, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it, that it may bring forth more fruit…As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; neither can you, except you abide in me.” He said in John 15:10-11, “If you keep my commands, you shall abide in my love—just as I have kept my Father’s commands and stay in his love. I have said this so that my joy may be in you, and your joy be complete.” Blessings are the result of choosing to keep relationship with God; choosing to do right because it is right and pleasing to Him. This way His will becomes our own. So much better than the alternative! Are you in a valley of decision?

Near the end of his life, the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that he had fought the good fight, he had finished the course, and he had kept the faith (see 2 Timothy 4:7).
 
But then a few verses later, he wrote this: “Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia” (2 Timothy 4:10 NLT).
 
When things got too difficult for Demas, he quit. He didn’t want to be a follower of Jesus if it required anything of him, if it cost him anything, or if he faced persecution.
 
Jesus spoke of the same dilemma in the parable of the sower, a story in which He compared sowing seed to the gospel going into people’s hearts. He said, “The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word” (Matthew 13:20–21 NLT).
 
There are people who, when trouble or persecution comes, fall away. They give up. They deny the Lord.
 
Of course, one way to deny the Lord is to just say, “I don’t know Him.” But another way to deny Him is by not confessing Him, by neglecting to speak up for Him when the opportunity arises.
 
Have you ever been in one of those situations where it almost seemed as though God had set the scene for you to speak up for Him? Everything fell into place. You knew what you needed to say. You knew the right thing to say. But you didn’t say it. You were paralyzed by fear. And you seriously regretted it afterward.
 
Even Peter had a lapse in which he denied the Lord—not once, not twice, but three times. That same Peter went out afterward and wept bitterly. And then he changed. According to church tradition, Peter was put to death on a cross as he hung upside down. He asked to be crucified that way because he said he wasn’t worthy to die in the same manner that his Lord did.
 
Peter wasn’t happy in the state he was in, and God changed him.
 
Maybe you’re thinking, “Actually, I feel a bit ashamed. I haven’t been speaking up for the Lord. I haven’t been confessing Him. I must not be a believer because I have denied Him.”
 
We’ve all had our moments of doubt. And we’ve all had our lapses in which we’ve denied Him.
 
But you can make a change today. You can begin confessing Him as a follower of Jesus.
 
Do people know you’re a Christian? Do your coworkers and your family members know that you’re a follower of Jesus Christ? We need to speak up for the Lord. Our lifestyle, the way that we live, should be evidence of our faith in Christ. Are you speaking up for Him?
