Twenty-plus years ago, in this space, we published an article named “The Business of Snatching Minds.” It was a shocker. At the time, we were incredulous as to how much of people’s waking hours were taken up with media devices. The latest surveys at that time reported that the average person living in North America spent 9.2 hours on such devices (social media, iPhone, internet, radio, TV … etc.) every day. Yes, 9.2 hours per day. This was a stunning increase of 45% from five years before. Surely this trend could not extend much further, we reasoned. After all, people need to sleep too! However, now two decades later, updating the data, we are shocked again. Perhaps people don’t sleep after all … or have no need of quiet times to rest their brains. (Granted, some of the increased media usage is attributable to Covid-19.) Consider this statistic: According to recent surveys, people in the US over 18 years of age are spending a seemingly frivolous 11.1 hours a day on their media devices (smartphones, iPads, gaming consoles … etc.). That equates to an average of 70% of one’s waking hours. What to make of these trends? This and related trends are highly significant and must be seen in an endtime context. However, we should be careful to mention that technology in and of itself is not evil. However, it can facilitate great evil if applied to nefarious agendas … especially so given the power of its globally interconnected infrastructure. We commented at the time that, just as the concept of “share of wallet” had been used by marketing strategists to great effect, the same would apply to a strategy focused on “share of mind.” We postulated that Satan himself has masterminded this strategy of “share of mind.” The proof? The “share of mind” that God’s truths or a relationship with Jesus Christ attract in our time—specifically also in so-called Christian nations—is at an all-time low. In fact, the collapsing “share of mind” trend that we reference is actually a phenomenon applying to last-day Bible prophecy (as we will show). But why is this stratagem to jam people’s minds and thinking so important and effective? Why is the mind such an important facet of Satan’s endtime strategies? And, sadly, why has this strategy been so successful? Targeting the Mind The human mind is a strategic focus in the cosmic battle for at least three important reasons. First, our faith involves the mind. “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord” (Isaiah 1:18a). Faith, belief, and obedience are connected to reasoning. As Apostle Paul admonished, we are urged to use our mind … to not put our brains on the shelf: “…I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind” (1 Corinthians 14:15). In contrast, cultic religions try to immobilize and disable the mind … to circumvent the natural safeguard of the mind. Not so, our Lord. Yes, it is true that our minds are not able to fully understand His greatness and His ways. But that does not mean we do not accept logic and reason to support our beliefs. The next reason is that our mind is the place of the spiritual battleground. It is precisely what thoughts gain access to the mind—whether through eyes, ears, or spirit—that have an impact upon our hearts and soul. In fact, what the Bible calls the heart is, in essence, what our mind chooses to believe and pursue. Our thoughts represent reality and are just as eternally important as our physical actions. Christ made this point very clear, saying, “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). Here we see that the evil thoughts of the mind—if not repulsed—become an actual sin of the heart, whether there has been physical consummation or not. Lastly, the mind finds its interface in the brain, a fleshly organ that learns and adapts. This grey matter can become habituated to lifestyle, thought patterns, and thinking processes. Just like an exercised muscle becomes stronger, so also the physical pathways of the brain. These pathways can become trained and expert. To the extent that we have trained our brain to allow bad thoughts and behaviors, we need to undo them. Apostle Paul refers to this as renewal. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2). In conclusion, we now understand the main reasons why the human mind is the logical point of assault. It is the essence that exercises faith and chooses a relationship with God. It is the spiritual war zone. And lastly, through our physical brain, our mind can entrench behavior and responses that we may have to strive to unlearn. Super-Jamming the Human Mind The onslaught against the attentive human mind continues. Without question, the mind of modern-day humanity remains under assault. The incursions are increasing and coordinated as perhaps never before. Moreover, a global communications bandwidth has rapidly taken form, which plays a pivotal role in enabling the Antichrist and the Beast to deceive the world, both on a macro and personal basis. (An earlier article published in this space was entitled “The Last Technology.” It explained why the internet-connected smartphone is the last and final technology required for prophetic enablement.) The result is that the average person’s mind is bombarded with entertaining images and populist messages. With that kind of informational diet, the mind loses its alertness … its ability to discern truth from fiction … to see and recognize the signs of the times. “So let us not be like the others, but let us be alert and self-controlled” (1 Thessalonians 5:6). Fewer and fewer people today have the ability to test and approve what God’s will and plans are. Moreover, Jesus Christ counseled His followers to be alert and to watch. How many find the time and focus to do so today? The Focus of Mind That the Bible Wants What “share of mind” does our Lord encourage? The Bible leaves no doubt. Hundreds of Scriptures indicate that Jesus Christ should possess our total being. God’s truth and presence should dominate our minds. Perhaps the most quoted passage is found in Psalm 1: “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night” (vv. 1-2). “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long” (Psalm 119:97). Thoughts to Ponder Sadly, all of us living in the age of the super-charged media and commercialized culture of our time struggle to attain the type of devotion that Scripture upholds. Apostle Paul was already worried about this type of assault upon the minds of Christians 2,000 years ago. “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Yes, Paul may not have understood the “somehow.” But today, we do recognize the devices and means being deployed to lead our minds astray. What can we do? Acknowledge this encouragement: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:2-3). But in our time of a massive, coordinated assault upon the functions of people’s minds, more than acknowledgment is required. We must also willfully act to govern and guard our minds. The Bible provides much counsel on this task. “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy'” (I Peter 1:13-16). “The end of all things is near. Therefore, be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray” (1 Peter 4:7). Lessons From a Russian Gambit – Jonathan Brentner - https://www.jonathanbrentner.com/https/jonathan-brentner-g8fgsquarespacecom/config/2023/6/26/the-russian-gambit Last Saturday, June 24, just when it looked as though Yevgeny Prigozhin and his Wagner group were about to engage in a bloody conflict with forces loyal to Putin, the leader of Russia, the situation suddenly and mysteriously changed. It was then I realized that I had been far too hasty in writing about the situation. I had fallen prey to Russian gambit that had played out before the eyes of the world. Until last week, I had never heard about the Wagner Group or Yevgeny Prigozhin. For those like me, below is a brief summary that I found on Telegram of the group as well as what ensued on June 23 leading up to the crisis. The Wagner Group is a private military company under the control of Yevgeny Prigozhin that cut its teeth in deployments to Crimea and eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region in 2014 and has since dispatched troops to several conflicts in the Middle East and Africa, including the Syrian Civil War. In Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Wagner has proved indispensable, but an apparent power struggle between the Kremlin and the outspoken Mr. Prigozhin has led to the group having its wings clipped by Moscow. The friction escalated to a crisis point on Friday, 23 June, when Mr. Prigozhin accused his country’s defense ministry, Sergei Shoigu, of “destroying” his fighters and concocting lies to justify the invasion of Ukraine. Mr. Prigozhin called for armed mutiny in an explosive rant on Telegram in which he vowed to stop the “evil” of the Kremlin’s top brass. WHAT HAPPENED? The question that lingers on many minds is this, “What happened?” Why did Prigozhin suddenly and inexplicably call off the coup? The story we heard at the time was that the President of Belarus, Aleksandr G. Lukashenko, intervened and mediated a deal between Prigozhin and Vladimir Putin that satisfied both sides and immediately eased the tensions. The promised changes at the Russian ministry of defense satisfied Prigozhin as he desired the removal of it head, Sergei Shoigu, which happened after the agreement was reached. Prigozhin issued a statement to the effect that he didn’t want the great bloodshed that would ensue from an attack. Are we to believe this was a sudden realization and thus a valid concern? Many remain unsatisfied with the possible explanations as to why Prigozhin so quickly changed course and retreated from his advance on the Kremlin. WAS IT A RUSE? It’s my opinion that it was a gambit with Putin knowing well in advance what Prigozhin would do; both sides in the conspiracy used the appearance of a coup to their advantage. It’s the details of how this came about that remain fuzzy. One theory is that Vladimir Putin allowed it to happen so he could see who truly supported him and who did not. And that certainly happened; Putin is now in a stronger position as the leader of Russia than before the coup attempt and has greater support for the war in Ukraine. Some suggest that the CIA in America, with help from the Ukrainian secret service, paid Prigozhin a great sum of money to stage the rebellion hoping it would mean the end of Vladimir Putin. He thus pretended to go through it with the full knowledge of Putin, but suddenly stopped knowing that he had become very rich while still remaining loyal to Putin. This fits with what we know of the CIA, but we have no solid evidence supporting this. Amir Tsarfati believes there’s a good possibility that the Wagner Group now possesses tactical nuclear weapons. It was shortly after the group took over the base with no resistance that Prigozhin ended the coup, which adds to his suspicions of what happened. Amir warned that the Wagner Group might have these weapons and use them in Ukraine with Putin able to claim that it wasn’t him, but rather someone who tried to remove him from power. Are Putin and Prigozhin still adversaries as the ongoing statements from the Russian president suggest? Or were they co-conspirators in a plot to enhance each other’s position and advance the war in Ukraine and still united in purpose despite what we hear? I don’t know the answer to these questions, but I’m convinced that the appearance of a coup doesn’t tell the full story of all that happened last Saturday. LESSONS LEARNED Here are the lessons I learned from far too quickly putting my ideas in print. First, I’m reminded that appearances will often deceive us in these last days. Because there’s so much going on behind the scenes with the deep state in America and the globalists at the UN and World Economic Forum (WEF), it’s frequently impossible to accurately interpret current events based on just what we see and hear. Satan, the master of deceit, is constantly working through his minions to deceive and subject people to his tyranny. Jesus warned that deception would mark the last days (Matthew 24:4). Second, the Russian gambit reinforces the importance of possessing an accurate understanding of biblical prophecy. The world may deceive us at times, but a knowledge of what the Bible says about the day in which we live will go a long ways in averting deception as well as preserve our sanity. We know the end of the story and the joyous eternity that lies ahead for us as New Testament saints. Third, it has reinforced my awareness that our enemy is working overtime to deceive us and in the process make us look foolish. He is fiercely attacking believers knowing his time is short. I have learned anew not to overlook his ploys and deadly ambitions. He is a liar and during the Tribulation he will deceive great multitudes of people. We live in biblical times; Jesus is coming for His church in the near future. The Rapture could happen today. Is it not increasingly difficult waiting for it to happen amid all the lawlessness and deception around us? The reports that come our way from current events very often don’t reflect reality, which means that if ever there was a time to know the Bible and carefully study its prophetic words, it’s now! America Has Less Than a Decade to Turn Itself Around – Simon Black - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=6181 Well, that didn't take long. From the time the US government managed to sign the debt ceiling resolution, it took just thirteen days for the national debt to soar by nearly $600 billion. At that pace, they added over $500,000 to the national debt every second. The US national debt has now breached $32 trillion... meaning America's debt-to-GDP ratio is now 121%. Historically, advanced nations tend to get into trouble when debt-to-GDP reaches around 90%. The US is way past that threshold -- but I'll return to that point in a moment. First, any time there's a discussion about the national debt, invariably some idiot says something stupid like "the debt doesn't matter because we owe it to ourselves." This is one of these irrational aphorisms (like "silence is violence") that people like to repeat over and over again until they believe it to be true. But it's not true. The debt matters. But let's first examine who owns it: Foreign governments like China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia hold a combined $7.4 trillion of US debt. The Federal Reserve owns $5.1 trillion of US debt. Social Security owns another $2.7 trillion of US debt, which of course is money owed to American retirees. Similarly, the Military Retirement Fund holds about $1.36 trillion. State and local governments hold about $1.55 trillion combined in US debt. Mutual funds own another $2.84 trillion. Banks own trillions worth of the national debt. Banks buy US government bonds with their depositors' money, i.e., YOUR money. JPMorgan Chase alone owns about $300 billion worth of US government debt. Silicon Valley Bank famously held about $120 billion of US government debt before they went bust. Even the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, which is supposed to guarantee bank deposits up to $250,000, owns about $128 billion worth of US government debt. Then there are countless businesses and individuals around the world who own US government debt, simply because Treasury Bonds are considered "risk free". Now, when people say that "we owe it to ourselves", they mean that most of the debt is NOT owed to foreigners. And this is true. Foreigners own just under 25% of the debt. But does that make it OK to default on the other 75%? Is it somehow acceptable to default on banks across America, which bought US Treasuries with their customers' money? Is it OK to default on 50+ million Social Security recipients? Or military retirees? That's why the "we owe it to ourselves" crowd is completely delusional. They seem to think that it doesn't matter if the government defaults on, say, the Federal Reserve, or Social Security. But doing so would cause disastrous consequences -- global economic meltdown, national social crisis, etc. So, in order to avoid a major catastrophe, the debt needs to be repaid. But with the national debt at 121% of GDP, is repaying it even possible anymore? Technically, yes. And it all comes down to growth. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, the US economy grew an average of 3.3% per year after adjusting for inflation; economists call this "real" GDP growth. But real GDP growth since 2000 has been much lower, averaging just 2%. And it turns out that the 1.3% difference in growth has had an enormous impact. To give you an example, if real US economic growth had remained at 3.3% for the past 20 years, government tax revenue (which averages ~18% of GDP) would have grown substantially. Along with some very modest spending restraint, budget deficits would have melted away over the past two decades, and America's debt-to-GDP ratio would today be less than 50%... and falling. And by 2033, the US national debt would be zero. Social Security would be completely funded. The US would have no financial challenges whatsoever. And the US dollar's dominance would be sacrosanct. Economic life today would be a completely different reality... if the US economy had only grown more quickly. It's not like an additional 1.3% growth isn't achievable; again, the US consistently hit this number for decades. You'd think that politicians would understand something so obvious, and that they'd do everything in their power to maximize growth. They'd embrace capitalism, cut red tape, create incentives for production, support small businesses, make taxes more efficient, etc. Or at a minimum, they'd simply stay out of the way. But instead, they do the opposite. They paid people to stay home and not work. They single out critical sectors (like energy companies) and punish them. They constantly threaten businesses, invent new regulatory burdens, stifle innovation, and attempt to systematically destroy capitalism, brick-by-brick. So, no, based on current trajectory, it looks like the debt problem will keep getting worse... until the catastrophes of default are unavoidable. The federal government has already acknowledged that Social Security's trust funds will run out of money in about 10 years. This means that, at best, America has less than a decade to turn itself around. Again, technically this IS possible. But time is running out. I’ve been saying this for decades, and an article from a pastor and professor of Christian ethics just confirmed, once again, the truth of what I’ve been saying for so long. In the final part of a four-part series on how this pastor of almost three decades became “gay affirming,” he writes: I embarked on a fresh study of the “Big Six” passages that “everyone knows” establish absolute heterosexual normativity, a strict male-female gender binary, and a ban on any deviations. I concluded that it came down to two main passages (Gen. 1-2 and Romans 1) and one main theme — divine creation order. Yes, I would agree—when it comes to human sexuality, it all goes back to Genesis (you could say the answers are in Genesis!). God’s Word is clear: he created us male and female and designed marriage to be between one man and one woman for life (Genesis 1:27, 2:24 and confirmed by Jesus in Matthew 19:4–5). The pastor then goes on to radically reinterpret what God’s Word clearly teaches about marriage, sexuality, and gender. How can he “get away” with this new interpretation of God’s Word? He writes: It also struck me like a thunderbolt that the LGBTQ+ issue was the ultimate current example of the old faith and science problem. I then reasoned by analogy from other moments where the creation narratives were read woodenly or literally and created faith/science problems – earth as the center of the universe, a 6,000-year-old earth, a literal six-day-creation, the impossibility of accepting anything like the theory of evolution. It dawned on me that this was a solvable problem in integrating our primal cosmology (creation narrative) with an honest appraisal of the world as we find it. So, to solve the “problem” of wanting to be LGBTQ affirming but having to go against the Word of God to do so, he simply reinterprets God’s Word “with an honest appraisal of the world as we find it.” In other words, God is not his authority—man is his authority! As I’ve always said, the way a person takes Genesis is an authority issue! It’s a temptation as old as the garden of Eden when Satan tempted Eve with “Did God really say?” and “You will be like God!” Our sin nature is such that we have a natural propensity to doubt God’s Word, twist it to confirm what we want to believe, and make ourselves god over Scripture. To fall for the temptation to reinterpret God’s Word regarding marriage and gender, this pastor first rejected a literal Genesis—that God created everything in six, literal, 24-hour days just a few thousand years ago. He allowed man, not God, to be his authority. So then when it came to questions regarding social issues in our culture, it was easy for him to reject God’s Word as the authority and reinterpret Genesis yet again. As I’ve always said, a historical Genesis is an issue of authority: do you start with God’s Word or man’s word? Of course, that is the last thing that many of us want to hear. Many Americans are finally getting their lives back to normal after the last pandemic, and a lot of people are hoping that we won’t have to go through another for a long time to come. Unfortunately, the truth is that we have entered a period of history when major outbreaks will be quite common. In secret labs all over the planet, mad scientists are monkeying around with some of the deadliest bugs ever known to humanity, and as we have seen, it is way too easy for an “accident” to happen. One of the diseases that our scientists have been playing around with is Malaria, and now there are four confirmed cases in Florida and one in Texas… Malaria, a potentially deadly disease caused by a mosquito-borne parasite, is making inroads into the US. Five new cases of malaria — one in Texas and four in Florida — are alarming officials because they were locally acquired, meaning a mosquito in the US was carrying the parasite. That hasn’t happened since 2003 in Palm Beach County, Florida, according to the Centers for Disease and Prevention. This isn’t supposed to happen. Malaria isn’t supposed to be spreading in the United States. But it is. And those that do not get diagnosed and treated quickly can end up dead… Symptoms of malaria include fever, shaking, chills, headache, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and tiredness, according to the CDC. If it’s not treated promptly, the infection can cause jaundice, anemia, kidney failure, seizures, mental confusion, coma and death. Meanwhile, we just received some very troubling news about the H5N1 strain of the bird flu. On Tuesday, it was being widely reported that nine cats in Poland have caught the disease… Nine cats have been confirmed to be infected with the H5N1 subtype of avian influenza in Poland, the country’s Chief Veterinary Officer announced on Monday, as reports of mammals being infected with the virus continue to increase. The infected cats were found in Poznań, the tri-city metropolitan area, and Lublin, locations separated by distances of hundreds of kilometers. H5N1 has started to spread among other mammals as well. So is it just a matter of time before it starts spreading among humans? We shall see. Alarmingly, it appears that there is more to this story in Poland than we are being told. According to a Polish news source, “large numbers of cats” have been dying “from an unknown illness”… Veterinary authorities in Poland are investigating reports of large numbers of cats dying from an unknown illness, and have warned owners to keep their pets inside. Initial tests by the chief veterinary inspectorate have found that some of the deceased animals had avian flu. Over the past two weeks, numerous instances of otherwise healthy cats suddenly and inexplicably becoming ill – and in many cases dying – have been reported throughout Poland. The affected animals have reportedly suffered neurological and respiratory symptoms, including seizures and difficulty breathing. This has led to concerns that some type of contagious illness is spreading. That report says that “some” of the dead cats had the bird flu. Does that mean that some of them didn’t? And that same report goes on to explain that in one area alone, 25 of the 28 cats that were showing symptoms of this “unknown illness” have ended up dead… The chief veterinary office for Pomerania province, where Gdańsk is located, and the region’s veterinary chamber have revealed that, out of 28 cats brought to clinics in the wider Gdańsk area in last two weeks with such symptoms, 25 have since died. On Friday, the national chief veterinary inspectorate, GIW, announced that there had been similar reports in several cities and that it was “closely following the development of the situation”. So it appears that we are not just talking about a handful of dead cats. We should watch this story very closely in the days ahead. Because if H5N1 does mutate into a form that can spread easily among humans, the death toll could be catastrophic. If you doubt this, just consider these numbers… Globally, since 2003, 873 human infections with A(H5N1) viruses, including 458 deaths, have been reported to the World Health Organization. Elsewhere, it is being reported that a woman in Brazil just died from the swine flu… US health chiefs are investigating the death of a Brazilian woman who became a rare victim of swine flu. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials plan to probe samples collected from the patient, 42, who died from an H1N1 variant spreading in pigs. Her death earlier last month has sparked concern because she had no direct contact with pigs — which may signal onward transmission from someone else. Hopefully this will turn out to be an isolated case. Because we definitely do not need to add an H1N1 epidemic to our growing list of problems. On top of everything else, monkeypox cases are on the rise again. The following story comes from a California news source… Los Angeles County health officials Friday reported a “concerning increase” in cases of mpox, previously known as monkeypox, with six new infections confirmed in the county in the past week. That’s up from an average of less than one case per week over the past month, according to the Department of Public Health. The sudden increase prompted health officials to urge people who show any symptoms of the illness to get tested. Such symptoms include rash, fever or swollen lymph nodes. I know that I have covered a lot of material very rapidly in this article. So much is happening, but the mainstream media isn’t giving it much attention. But if a major pandemic does erupt in the second half of this year, it will be front page news everywhere. Hopefully that will not be the case. Hopefully we have more time. But without a doubt, more great pestilences are coming, and they will cause great panic all over the globe. Stupidocrisy: The fortunate son - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com In November 1969, Credence Clearwater Revival released the song Fortunate Son. Lead singer John Fogerty says the song was birthed out of extreme distrust of executive authority. The second verse reads: “Some folks are born silver spoon in hand; Lord, don’t they help themselves, no; But when the taxman come’ to the door; Lord, the house lookin’ like a rummage sale, yeah.” And the chorus: “It ain’t me, it ain’t me; I ain’t no senator’s son, son; It ain’t me, it ain’t me; I ain’t no fortunate one, no.” Well, it may not be fortunate for you and me when the taxman comes a knockin’ at the door, but for Joe Biden’s son Hunter, he got the IRS deal of the century. Slap on the wrist for income tax evasion. Go figure. The Big Guy’s boy comes out as the fortunate son after the IRS completed its criminal investigation. Hunter copped a plea deal to avoid prison. A Justice Department letter confirmed that the fortunate son would be pleading guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax. Biden owed in excess of $200,000 on over $3 million income from 2017 and 2018. He also plead guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm. I wonder how that made the Big Guy feel given his strong desire to disarm every American citizen. Court docs say there is a maximum sentence for each count of “12 months in prison, a fine of $100,000, or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense, whichever is greater; 1 year of supervised release, restitution, a $25 special assessment, cost of prosecution.” That would be for you and me, not the fortunate son. The fortunate son will be on probation and will not see the inside of a jail cell—money is the “cure all” for this case and there is plenty of it to go around. The Washington Times reported on June 12 that a secret FBI memo involving a paid informant obtained by the Senate referred to Joe Biden as the “big guy.” It described Joe Biden receiving a $5 million-dollar bribe from an executive of the Ukrainian energy firm Bursima in a payout scheme with a Chinese energy company. The communist Chinese company was to hold 10% of the profits for the “big guy.” There are also, according to the FBI memo, over 15 audio recordings of phone calls between the Bursima executive, Hunter Biden, and the then-Vice President Joe “Big Guy” Biden. Now, the “Big Guy” said that neither he nor his Administration would interfere with the investigation of the fortunate son. But two IRS whistleblowers came forward, one who was leading the IRS investigation, saying they were removed and threatened with criminal charges if they said anything about it. Their claim is that the fortunate son received preferential treatment from the investigators. Of course, the Justice Department declined to comment. I saw Christianity as a list of things that you could not do. My perception was that Christians hung out with dull people and spent their time praying and singing songs. In a nutshell, I thought Christianity was no fun. When a lot of people think about the way of following Jesus Christ, the way of obedience, they foresee misery and restrictions. Most nonbelievers view the Christian life as one of gloom and, worst of all, boredom. However, after becoming a Christian, I discovered the opposite was true. My priorities changed. And I found that the holy way—the godly way, the way of obedience—is in reality the happy way. We see in Psalm 119, as well as in other places in Scripture, that happiness is always connected to holiness. And we also find that happiness is not something that we should seek outright. Pursuing happiness, in and of itself, generally is a futile search. Rather, happiness is a result of seeking something else. Speaking about God, the psalmist wrote, “Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts” (Psalm 119:2 NLT). There are two ways that we can live our lives: the right way and the wrong way. There are two paths that we can take: the narrow road that leads to life or the broad way that leads to destruction (see Matthew 7:13–14). And there are two foundations that we can build on: the solid rock or sinking sand (see Matthew 7:24–27). As a result, we will live either the holy and happy way or the miserable and unholy way. Everything we need in life to be happy, everything we need to be fulfilled, is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
