The US, like every other empire, kingdom, and nation that has ever come and gone, does not live on an island unto itself. We (like those before us) are subject to the schemes and maneuvers of all the other rising and variant forces that perpetually seek to challenge hegemony anywhere and everywhere at all times. The Babylonians had the Persians. The Persians had the Greeks. The Greeks the Romans. The Romans the barbarians. The Holy Roman Empire the Muslims. The West versus the East. The Old versus the New. And now, the New versus the Old.
 
The question everyone is asking now is, is America too big to fail?
 
The short answer is a resounding, no.
 
The question we should be asking is whether or not this present conflict is bait for a wider, more strategic one?

Defense in Depth
 
When I was in the Army, the Warrant Officer Corps (who were a sort of hybrid officers between the Commissioned and Non-Commissioned Ranks) had a particular saying that had been around forever, and of which, I am still fond of to this day.
 
Admit nothing
 
Deny everything
 
Make counteraccusations
 
This simple and somewhat humorously antagonistic saying is an old technique of sorts that has been around for millennia. It’s called, defense in depth. It can be applied in many different fields, such as the military, legal, and cyber world, but in a purely military application, it’s an intentional strategy. Defense in depth has two main applications, the first is the castle approach, which is to say, a layered defense (moat, drawbridge, ramparts, castle walls, etc.). The second is of a stalling operation disguised as a tactical retreat, designed to cause the enemy to spread out and lose momentum. Here is a semi-official definition of it.
 
Defence in depth (also known as deep defence or elastic defence) is a military strategy that seeks to delay rather than prevent the advance of an attacker, buying time and causing additional casualties by yielding space. Rather than defeating an attacker with a single, strong defensive line, defence in depth relies on the tendency of an attack to lose momentum over time or as it covers a larger area. A defender can thus yield lightly defended territory in an effort to stress an attacker’s logistics or spread out a numerically superior attacking force. Once an attacker has lost momentum or is forced to spread out to pacify a large area, defensive counter-attacks can be mounted on the attacker’s weak points, with the goal being to cause attrition or drive the attacker back to its original starting position. Thus, in a purely military application, defense in depth is a form of defensive illusion that allows the invader/aggressor to believe they are actually winning when in reality, are making themselves more vulnerable and prone to defeat. Both Napoleon’s Grand Armée and the German Wehrmacht learned this most painful and humiliating lesson when fighting the Russians many years ago.
 
However, we should not give too much praise to the military genius of either the Tsarist Russians or their modern Bolshevik descendants, since this Russian strategy predates even the Romans. The Roman philosopher Cicero called Herodotus the father of history, and as such, Herodotus of Halicarnassus (circa 484 BC) is most famously known for his ethnographical/historical book titled "The Histories." 
 
When describing the nomadic warriors who lived to the far north of both Greece and Israel, Herodotus makes much importance of this ancient strategy when he wrote about the ancient Scythian routing of the Persians. The Scythians are the ancient ancestors of the modern-day Russian peoples who dwelt in what was then known as the land of Magog. I've included more resources below for those who are interested in the history of the Russians in the land of Magog. Nevertheless, here is a quote from the late Dr. Chuck Missler's book, Prophecy 20/20, and he writes:
 
Herodotus describes them living in Scythia (i.e., the territory north of the Black Sea). He describes Scythia as a square, twenty-day journey (360 miles) on a side. It encompassed the lower reaches of the Dniester, Bug, Dnieper, and Don rivers, where they flow into the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The Scythian language belonged to the Iranian family of the Indo-European languages. The Ossetian dialect of central Caucasus appears to be a survivor. The original area in which Iranian was spoken extended from the mid-Volga and the Don regions to the northern Urals and beyond. From here, Iranian-speaking tribes colonized Media, Parthia, Persia, Central Asia, and as far as the Chinese border. The ancient writers refer to the Great Wall of China as Sud Yagog et Magog, the “Ramparts of Gog and Magog.” Prophecy 20/20, Chapter 20, 160-1

One reason Herodotus gave so much detailed information about the Scythians was that he wanted to describe the people who had succeeded in defeating the Persian king, Darius. This was a most important element in the history of the Scythians, and the memory of it remained with them for many years. In resisting the Persians, a provocative strategic tradition was born: defense in depth.
 
This unique strategy would also characterize these descendants of Magog in more recent times against Napoleon and Hitler. When Napoleon entered Russia in 1812, Field Marshall Kutuzov’s similar strategy, including the sacrifice of Moscow itself, resulted in reducing Napoleon’s Grande Armée from 453,000 to 10,000. Hitler, suffering defeat from the same Scythian strategy: pressing a quick advance deep into the Russian interior only to have his Wehrmacht swallowed up in the harsh winter. (Ibid. However, keeping the defense-in-depth definitions in mind, we need to take this into consideration as we press forward in discussing current geopolitical, military, and economic events happening all around the world. This may also play largely into what we see happening with regards to the larger picture of why Russia is invading Ukraine.
 
Checkers vs. Chess

Whether Vladimir Putin is a grandmaster chess player or just a casual one, one thing is certain, Joe Biden is not. Aside from his mythical bouts with "Cornpop" more than half a century ago, Joe Biden (nor his handlers as far as we know) are also not black belts in Judo either. Here is how one writer put it back in 2014:
 
Russian President Vladimir Putin is often cast as a shadowy chess master making crafty moves on the global stage, a former KGB spy who treats Asia, Europe, the Middle East and former Soviet republics as pawns on a geopolitical chessboard. But another emerging metaphor for Putin's political style comes from a different contest that happens to be his favorite sport: judo.
 
A black belt in judo whose sparring partners from his working-class childhood in Leningrad now hold high-level government posts, Putin has never made secret the significance to him of the martial art. "Judo teaches self-control, the ability to feel the moment, to see the opponent's strengths and weaknesses, to strive for the best results," he says on his personal website. "I am sure you will agree that these are essential abilities and skills for any politician."
 
"Putin is a judo master by training, not a chess master, and that's how he looks at gaining advantage for Russia," Kimberly Marten, a Russia expert and professor of political science at Barnard College and Columbia University, tells Newsweek. "He sizes up an opponent's weakness, throws him off balance and then makes his opponent fall from his own weight."
 
Chess is played on quiet, peaceful, orderly terms, with one player making a move and the opponent following. By contrast, judo consists of explosive, sudden strikes in which a judoka, or judo master, aims to turn an opponent's size and weight against him. (Newsweek, June 5, 2014)
 
While I had mentioned the Beijing Olympic agreement in a previous Russia-Ukraine update, I had neglected to expand upon its deeper, and frankly, prophetic implications. I know there are a lot of folks out there wondering if what we are seeing now is the dreaded Gog-Magog coalition on the move, however, I don't believe this Ukraine invasion is Gog and Magog just quite yet. However, it is coming together.
 
What we are witnessing now (in my opinion) is akin to Satan's own version of the "Valley of Dry Bones." It is like some mythical, multi-national Golem, being willed into existence by those nations who are equally opposed and appalled at the seemingly inevitable rise and nature of the West's dreadful new world order also rising up. And in this epic clash of civilizations, the battleground today is in Ukraine. Some day in the not too distant future, it will be Israel.
 
But this war isn't checkers where the goal is to crown as many of your own players as kings to dominate the playing board. That is what the West is playing, and ultimately, she will get her ten kings to help run the coming Beast system later on inside the 70th Week of Daniel. Right now, what we are witnessing (at least from the Russians) is this mix between Judo and chess, and it will always be played ten steps ahead of any actual geopolitical moves. This is why Putin began "recession-proofing" his government and economy years ago, long in advance of this day. Not only that, but he was shoring up his own alliances with China, India, Pakistan, and others within the Shanghai Cooperation and the Middle East, who also don't want to see this New World Order (the West's Great Reset) come to fruition. Speaking to this China-Russian preparation:
 
In their matching mauve ties, Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping last week declared a “new era” in the global order and, at least in the short term, endorsed their respective territorial ambitions in Ukraine and Taiwan. The world’s two most powerful autocrats unveiled a sweeping long-term agreement that also challenges the United States as a global power, nato as a cornerstone of international security, and liberal democracy as a model for the world. “Friendship between the two States has no limits,” they vowed in the communiqué, released after the two leaders met on the eve of the Beijing Winter Olympics. “There are no ‘forbidden’ areas of cooperation...”
 
U.S. experts described the lengthy statement, which was riddled with false and accusatory language, as startling. “I’ve never seen a joint statement from both leaders using this kind of language. They’ve joined forces,” Angela Stent, a Russia expert who served at the National Intelligence Council and wrote “Putin’s World: Russia Against the West and with the Rest,” told me. She described the communiqué as “quite Orwellian” and called it an “inflection point” in which Russia and China are challenging the balance of power that has defined the global order since the Cold War ended, three decades ago. “We could be at the beginning of a new era as the Russian relationship with the West deteriorates and China’s does as well.” The agreement puts Washington and its key allies “in a terrible bind,” she added. “The fact is, whatever we do to counter what Russia is doing only reinforces its reliance on China.” (New Yorker Feb 7, 2022)
 
I titled this "Everyone Wants to Rule the World," not because I love the 80's pop hit (although I like the song), but because we are seeing the clash between two civilizations coming to a head. Should the west get drawn into a wider war that foregoes the use of nuclear weapons for more traditional ones, it would be wise for us to remember Russia's penchant for defense in depth. Appear weak, and in retreat, only to give chase and get sucked into a trap for the enemy to strike suddenly when we are off-balance. So just remember, when it appears they are losing, they might just be in a tactical retreat baiting us into the kill zone.
 
There is a strong possibility that what we are seeing now is the beginning of why the West and certain Arab states are in no position to stop the Gog-Magog horde that sweeps down from the north to retake Israel and reclaim all her newfound wealth before the Tribulation begins.

The prophecies of Ezekiel are written to the Jews, and those of Daniel bring in secular events that involve Jewish people and the nation of Israel. Look at Ezekiel 37, which tells of the restoration of Israel out of the ashes of history to become a sovereign nation—so created by a decree of the United Nations.
 
In Ezekiel 37, the prophet sees a valley of dry bones that began to take on flesh and sinews in restoration (verse 6). Promise fulfilled—Ezekiel 37:11-14. We can date this event over the period of about 1870 to May 14, 1948, when Jews began to return to the land until its birth in one day as a new nation.
 
Now look at Luke 21:28-33 for the update to the present time:
 
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.
 
“Then He spoke to them a parable: ‘Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
 
“Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.'” (Underscored for emphasis—it is not the generation of the first century, but that one in which these things will happen and are happening.)
 
The next thing mentioned in Ezekiel after the dry bones become alive again is in Ezekiel 37:26: “Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.” (Is that sanctuary a reference to the Messiah?) This promise clearly indicates that God will not ever turn from His chosen people of Abraham and not complete His plan for them. In other words, there is no such thing as a valid “replacement theology.”
 
Parallel with this promise in Ezekiel is that of Daniel 9:27, which says this one who arises from the heritage of the Romans will “confirm a covenant with many for one week (of seven years).” The Jews will endorse this one because its perpetrator is seen as their friend, even as perhaps the Messiah to come, especially since he also authorizes the rebuilding of their temple. (And he has no nail holes in his hands or feet.)
 
Notice that these two promises are events that deal with the Jews. In order for the one in Daniel to happen, something must happen that will allow that one of Roman heritage to appear with authority to confirm a covenant and allow the Jews to rebuild their temple.
 
This one of Roman heritage, therefore, cannot be one coming out of obscurity suddenly to gain the authority required for these things; certainly not. Something dramatic must take place.
 
What is missing? It is an event that is not Jewish related, not a Jewish event—the Rapture, of course. It is a non-Jewish happening, for it is the “snatching out” of all the believers in Christ to allow the Antichrist to be revealed, the culmination of that “falling away” prediction in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-7. Therefore, the reading of 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 has two parts, as, “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night” (then the break-in events and the Rapture occurs, and the prophecy turns to its focus on the Jews, saying, “For when they shall say, ‘Peace and safety,’ sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they shall not escape.”
 
The narrative goes back to those who are in the Rapture, saying in verses 4-5: “But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.”
 
The labor pains of a pregnant woman continue until the baby is born; therefore, that comparison may well be pointing to the seven years of tribulation, truly that 70th year of Daniel’s earlier prophecy in Daniel 9; for that period is purely for God’s promise of judgment for the Jews.
 
Back to Ezekiel again, we find no mention of a Rapture after God’s promise of an everlasting covenant, but that prophecy goes right to the coming Gog-Magog invasion of Israel. Daniel does not identify this event, unless it is included in the “sudden destruction” mentioned by Paul. Daniel does not name it as Ezekiel does. Thus, we see “wars and rumors of wars” mentioned in the prophetic accounts told by Jesus, but not with specific names, such as 1st and 2nd world wars. It is interesting that Daniel continues with actions of this new arrival, the Antichrist, while Ezekiel goes directly to the Gog-Magog war, followed directly with rebuilding the Jewish temple, beginning in Ezekiel 40.
 
Despite opinions to the contrary, it does appear that the flow of end-time events is basically in chronological order. The authority for the judgment of the tribulation period is determined in Revelation 5, and 6 is a preview of what will happen in those times ahead. Jesus, the Christ, opens each seal which reveals the content of the future judgments, with seal five featuring the main issue of the first half of the seven years, the ministry and results of the 144,000 young Jewish evangelists, reported in Revelation 7.
 
The sixth seal depicts the Great Tribulation when the Satan-empowered Antichrist activates the Mark of the Beast and those who do not take the mark are methodically slaughtered. Zachariah 13:8 reports that two-thirds of the Jews are killed, but God intervenes, and one-third of them are saved from Satan’s wrath (see Rev. 12:13-14).
 
Along with this, as those times wind down, we are told of the marriage banquet of the Lamb, followed by a final battle when forces of evil are defeated, the Antichrist and his false prophet are cast alive into the lake of fire, and Satan is bound in the bottomless pit for a thousand years. This begins the millennium, meaning a thousand years with Christ personally ruling the world “with a rod of iron” from His throne in Zion, the city of David, in Jerusalem. Contrary to growing opinion (apparently), I am certain that God knows how long a millennium is, for sure. But of course, believers of today and the past will not be here to experience those events.
 
In conclusion, it is clear that God is not confused with all of these intricate details in the Word, but the student must search them out while keeping in mind the total attributes of God. One timely reminder from Jude 1:3, which obligates us to “earnestly contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints,” is that Jude made that declaration before the end of that first century. It was after that century that the development of so many false doctrines and deviations from that true body of faith has occurred. Mankind thinks he has the ability and right to “improve” on what is the eternal Word of God. Again, it brings to mind Proverbs 9:10, “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Two Trees and a Thief – Bill Perkins – www.compass.org
 
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
 
In Satan’s futile 6000-year attempt to wage war against God, his strategy has never changed. Knowing he could never conquer God, he turned his hatred and rage to the next best option—to steal God’s greatest treasure—the pinnacle of God’s Creation.
 
In one continual flow the entire Bible reveals God’s unyielding, passionate love for His special creation—the human race. Humans are uniquely crafted in His image, by Him and for Him. And Satan knows it.
 
So when Satan enticed Adam and Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, he knew the interlock between God and humans was permanently shattered by sin. For Satan, it must have seemed like “game over” and “mission accomplished.”
 
When the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge was eaten, mankind’s innocence was lost and the entire human race was infected with sin.
 
But there was a second tree in the Garden—The Tree of Life.
 
Eating its fruit would result in immortality. In God's great mercy He sent the Cherubim to guard this tree so that Adam and Eve would not “take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever” in that sinful condition.
 
Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”… So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the Tree of Life. Gen. 3:22,24
 
To be locked in a state of sin, and to be immortal, would have forever separated humans from God. Satan would have completed his theft of the human race. But God immediately revealed a coming Savior.
 
The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; On your belly you will go, and dust you will eat all the days of your life; And I will put enmity between you [Satan] and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” Gen. 3:14-15    
 
Prior to this pronouncement, Satan had no knowledge of a Messiah. He had no clue a Savior could both fulfill the payment of death for sin and allow fallen humans to be drawn back into a love relationship with God.
 
This revelation of a coming Messiah was good news for Adam and Eve, but it must have enraged Satan.
 
So Satan expanded his strategy to try to prevent the Messiah from accomplishing God’s Will. He raged against Israel, the Messiah’s bloodline, inflicting war and death. He killed untold numbers of babies in Egypt and then again in Bethlehem. But all his efforts were to no avail. The Messiah was born.
 
In the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, Satan tried to deter Him, through powerful and demonic temptations, to abandon His mission. But Satan lost badly.
 
Fast forward to the Garden of Gethsemane located due east of the Temple Mount on the lower part of Mount of Olives.
 
It was there Satan threw every evil and demonic weapon he had at Jesus trying to break His will to go forward and carry out God’s plan of redemption at the cross. This caused Jesus so much consternation that He literally sweated blood.
 
And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground. Luke 22:44
 
Jesus knew there was only One Way to redeem His beloved humans. He knew that if He faltered, the human race was doomed forever. Thankfully He endured paying the price of blood atonement.
 
If the Cross seemed like a victory to Satan, it was short lived. Three days later the ultimate victory was accomplished.
 
Through Christ’s shed blood, life conquered death and immortality was offered to the human race through believing by faith in God’s Messiah.
 
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1John 5:4
 
Satan’s so evil that despite knowing he’s lost the ultimate battle, he’s continued his attack on the human race for the last 2000 years. His favorite targets are Jews and Christians.
 
The ones he can’t kill or maim through wars, violence, disease, etc., he tries desperately to prevent from entering into God’s redemptive relationship by perverting the Gospel:
 
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.” Luke 8:11-12
 
"…in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." 2Cor. 4:4
 
But the Gospel continues to go forward, and God is still building His Church.
 
And now, as the stage appears to be set for God’s conclusion of this long struggle, Satan still has one last strategic plan to complete his theft of the human race and rob God of “the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” (Eph 1:8)
 
If he could hijack human life, corrupt the image of God in it, and then make it immortal, much of God’s priceless treasure could still be permanently stolen. And the groundwork has been laid.
 
Transhumanism is one of Satan's most chilling concepts and is rapidly being introduced into our world today. Here's a concise definition:
 
“The Transhumanist Movement, also known as H+ is an intellectual, cultural and political movement that supports technological enhancements in the human body through the use of genetics, robotics, synthetic biology, AI technology among others to modify the physiology, psyche, memory and progeny of a human being and ultimately achieve immortality on earth, (a procedure they believe can be reached within the next decade) whereby human consciousness can be uploaded into a robot, cyborg or possibly, a human clone.”(1)
 
This is Satan at his best—promising a way to heaven without having to account to a righteous God. And it’s not hard to see his agenda unfolding around us. Millions and millions of people have been injected with a drug that scientists now admit alters the God-designed DNA.
 
If DNA is God’s image imprinted in every cell in our body, a specifically designed blueprint for each individual, then changing that in any way is an abomination to Him.
 
And if technology can be integrated with our humanity and uploaded to a robot, we can be legally “owned” by the patent holders.(2) And that means a person can be owned by the likes of Gates, Schwab, Soros… and ultimately Satan.
 
Part human and part machine, man would become immortal in the most terrifying way. They are working hard to make this come about in years, not decades.
 
So there it is, the second tree. Having infected the world with sin from the beginning through the fruit of the first Tree, Satan is now determined, at the end, to steal the fruit of the second Tree, immortality.
 
We are seeing the seismic clash of these powers in our world today and watching our country reel under this evil agenda. But as Believers, we are first and foremost citizens of a kingdom, not a country.
 
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. Col. 1:13 
 
This last furious attack by Satan will be met with God’s wrath being poured out in full measure during the coming 7-year Tribulation.
 
Satan will lose yet again as he is crushed and bound before his ultimate sentencing to hell at the end of the Millennium. Trying to steal what is God’s is never a good idea.
 
“Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die." Ezek. 18:4
 
For the LORD loves justice and does not forsake His godly ones; They are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked will be cut off. Psa. 37:28  
 
But for those of us who were rescued out of Satan’s attempted coup by the priceless blood of Christ, we have a different ending.
 
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” Rev. 21:3-4
 
God will never relinquish His treasure. For us Believers He's preserved the Tree of Life in a future Garden . . .
 
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the Tree of Life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Rev. 22:14

44 million people live in Ukraine, and they are deeply suffering in a war that most of them did not want. Like most of us, the vast majority of Ukrainians just want to live their lives in peace and quiet, but that isn’t going to be possible now. So we should pray for the people of Ukraine, because they are going through a type of hell that is beyond what most of us even have the ability to imagine. And we should be very angry with all of those that caused this war, because it didn’t have to happen.
 
I want to be very clear about the fact that I do not support the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russians could have achieved their goals without a full-blown invasion, but now they have started World War III.
 
I also want to be very clear about the fact that I place a great deal of the blame for this conflict on the global elite. The Biden administration and other western powers encouraged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to endlessly provoke the Russians and they made all sorts of promises to him. So Zelensky pushed all of his chips into the middle of the table even though the Russians knew that the U.S. and Europe would not fight if they invaded.
 
Now Russia has called the bluff, and the U.S. and Europe have stayed on the sidelines.
 
They certainly don’t want to fight the Russians, but they have no problem encouraging the Ukrainians to sacrifice countless lives fighting a battle that they can’t possibly win.
 
Asking the Ukrainians to fight Russia is like asking a skinny 10-year-old boy to fight a 25-year-old heavyweight boxing champion.
 
It isn’t a fair fight.
 
Many Ukrainians have fought bravely for their country, and this has given the Russian military more problems than they originally anticipated.
 
But as Clint Ehrlich has pointed out, Russia’s early struggles actually make the possibility of any sort of a negotiated conclusion to this conflict must less likely…
 
But the humiliating struggles they’ve experienced, which have been broadcast around the world, change the political calculus.
 
Russia no longer has the option of looking like a magnanimous victor by accepting a negotiated ceasefire.
 
If President Putin accepts something like a conditional surrender that preserves the integrity of the Ukrainian government, that will be spun as a defeat for Russia.
 
It may sound paradoxical from the outside, but Russia’s *tactical defeats* now make *strategic victory* imperative.
 
To preserve Russia’s aspiration to be a superpower, there must be no doubt at the end of the war who the victor was.
 
It must be Russia. By a crushing margin.
 
Even if it takes longer than originally anticipated, Russia will undoubtedly win this war.
 
And more Ukrainians will needlessly die with each passing day.
 
Of course it was the U.S. and other western powers that set the stage for all of this.
 
In 2014, the Obama administration and other western powers were behind the color revolution which violently overthrew the democratically elected government in Ukraine.
 
That resulted in an extremely violent civil war between the new U.S.-backed government and the separatists which were backed by Russia.
 
Things were relatively stable during the Trump administration, but then the Biden administration started filling Zelensky’s head with all sorts of ideas about joining NATO and taking Donetsk and Luhansk by force.
 
And Zelensky bought into what Biden administration officials were telling him hook, line and sinker.
 
The Russians tried to negotiate, but Zelensky and the Biden administration steadfastly refused to compromise.
 
So the Russians felt like they were out of options, and now the Biden administration does not want to fight a war that they helped to cause.
 
And even though his country is now being destroyed, Zelensky is continuing to talk tough…
 
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued an address to the Russian people on Thursday, according to state media, in which he announced that Russia would pay “reparations” and rebuild “everything” the ongoing war has destroyed in Ukraine.
 
Oh really?
 
Precisely how does Zelensky plan to achieve that?
 
The Ukrainian government is also encouraging their citizens to make Molotov cocktails and to set up barriers to block the progress of Russians tanks…
 
The tone of Zelensky’s speech on Thursday, as reported by the government news site Ukrinform, was significantly less conciliatory than his address to the Russian people last week shortly after Putin began a full-scale assault of Ukraine, in which he emphasized friendly relations between Ukrainian and Russian people and urged Russians to pressure Putin to stop the war. The shift in tone aligns with that of statements from Ukrainian outlets on Wednesday declaring that Russian soldiers would be “slaughtered like pigs” if they attempted to surrender. Ukrainian government social media outlets are actively encouraging civilians to make Molotov cocktails, build roadblocks, and otherwise participate in the war.
 
Instead of telling women and children to fight the war that they helped to cause, I would like to see Zelensky and his associates get out of the bunker and do some fighting themselves.
 
And I would also like to see Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan and other members of the Biden administration fly over to Ukraine and join the battle.
 
Of course the same thing applies to Vladimir Putin. Instead of hiding in a bunker in the mountains, I would like to see him on the front lines.
 
Needless to say, none of these global leaders are actually going to participate in the fight. They are way too important for that.
 
Instead, we are going to continue to see women and children face off against Russian tanks, and that is a disgrace.
 
Wouldn’t it be great if the international rules of war were changed to say that those that start a war must fight in it?
 
But instead of fighting for Ukraine, the global elite are attempting to put lots of pressure on Russia in other ways. For example, all Russian-owned and bred cats have now been banned from international competitions…
 
An international cat federation has banned all Russian-owned and bred cats from competing in international competitions, in a move that’s sure to stop Putin’s attack on Ukraine.
 
No, this isn’t a Babylon Bee story.
 
The Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe) issued a statement saying it “cannot just witness these atrocities and do nothing.”
 
Yes, I am sure that the citizens of Kiev, Kharkiv and Mariupol will be greatly encouraged when they hear that.
 
And as Ukrainian cities are pummeled by relentless shelling, the U.S. Army has decided that now is a great time to be “putting its soldiers through training on gender pronouns”…
 
While Russia wages a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. Army is putting its soldiers through training on gender pronouns and coaching officers on when to offer soldiers gender transition surgery, according to an official military presentation on the subject obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
 
The mandatory presentation, “Policy on the Military Service of Transgender Persons and Persons with Gender Dysphoria,” was given to officers earlier this month along with instructions for them to train their subordinates on the material. Portions of the presentation were provided to the Free Beacon by a whistleblower who was ordered to undergo the training as a high-ranking officer in the Army Special Forces.
 
As we sit in comfort here in the western world, major Ukrainian cities are being ruthlessly encircled by Russian forces.
 
Millions of Ukrainians will soon be very cold and very hungry as they are relentlessly shelled by the mighty Russian military machine.
 
But most Ukrainians never wanted any of this. If anyone deserves such a fate, it is the global elite that actually caused this war in the first place.
 
For years, I have been relentlessly warning that we were heading toward a conflict between the U.S. and Russia, but most Americans weren’t interested in such warnings.
 
Now World War III is here, and the global elite think that they are going to be able to watch it from a safe distance.
 
But this won’t just be limited to Ukraine.
 
War is going to spread, and it will eventually deeply affect all of us.

The 1963 Great Western Tour took my Mom, Dad and me on many great adventures. One of the best legs of the trip was my Dad retracing part of a journey he took with his best buddies Earl and Al 24 years earlier to Ellensburg, Washington. It was there that I was introduced for the first time to Uncle Lou and Aunt Bertha Richards. In 1939, Dad, Earl and Al had drove from Ohio in time for the famous Ellensburg Rodeo, of which Uncle Lou was the head honcho. Now, Uncle Lou was a big deal. He was a true cowboy, local cattleman, and helped start that Rodeo when the West was still pretty much unsettled in 1923. He was a strong character, a showman, and the closest thing I ever saw to Buffalo Bill Cody in real life.
 
Uncle Lou was a no-nonsense man. You could sense that he was the type that meant what he said and said what he meant. In 1923, Uncle Lou organized hundreds of volunteers to build the Kittitas County Fair and Rodeo grounds that included an exhibit hall and a 5,000-seat grandstand, and a race track. The Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame says he “helped to plan and coordinate the array of fast-moving and entertaining rodeo events, races, and contract acts that characterize the Ellensburg Rodeo to this day. In 1937, Richards led the Ellensburg Rodeo across the “picket line” of the Cowboy Turtles’ (precursor to today’s Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association), when the professional cowboys went out on strike. In ’38, he agreed to some of the Turtles’ demands and welcomed them, noting “It’s like a homecoming to see all the boys back.”
 
Uncle Lou didn’t say a lot. But he did have some stories about the rodeo and some of the famous cowboys that competed. We have many pictures of the rodeo, and the rodeo parade, which included some fierce-looking Native Americans in full regalia. The Ellensburg Daily Record says that Uncle Lou was involved with negotiations to have them participate in the rodeo festivities: “After attending treaty celebrations at White Swan, Lou Richards, arena director, for the Ellensburg Rodeo, was assured that there will be plenty of Indians attending the rodeo. Over 100 Indians in elaborate costumes and 100 horses will be involved in parades, opening ceremonies, dances, and other events.”
 
In my Dad’s August 21, 1939 letter to my Mom (they were not yet married), he wrote: “I haven’t made up my mind yet if I will ride at the rodeo on not. I think I will ride in the parade that will be three or four times, so that will be a lot of fun.” By 1963, the wild West in Ellensburg had tamed down quite a bit. Gone were the six guns and war chiefs. It was civilized compared to those days. But, for me, I was fascinated to sit at Uncle Lou’s feet and just listen to the stories of a time that I had only seen portrayed in the movies. Hearing it first hand from a living pioneer of the West was extra special. Ecclesiastes 7:10 says, “Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.” But they were pretty good, and I would sure have a lot more questions for Uncle Lou today from what I know now than I did then.

His son was very sick. In fact, he was at death’s door. But the desperate father, who was part of a royal family, came and humbled himself before Jesus Christ. He begged Jesus to touch his dear son.
 
Jesus’s response, however, was quite unusual: “Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders?” (John 4:48 NLT).
 
Now, what kind of thing is that to say to a desperate dad who simply wanted his son to be healed? The fact is that Jesus wasn’t really addressing the father. He actually was addressing the fickle crowd that had come to be entertained. They came to see a sign, a miracle, something to dazzle them.
 
Meanwhile, this persistent dad stood there, waiting. He wouldn’t give up. He said, “Lord, please come now before my little boy dies” (verse 49 NLT).
 
But Jesus told him, “Go back home. Your son will live!” (verse 50 NLT).
 
So why not just respond to this father immediately? Jesus wanted to draw him out. He wanted to teach him that sometimes we need to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. And sometimes, because we won’t be persistent in our prayers, we don’t see them answered in the affirmative.
 
What looks like a barrier at times actually may be a bridge. So don’t give up. Jesus said, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7 NLT).
 
Yet God will allow tests in our lives to see if we will press on and not give up. Are you willing to pray for other people to come to the Lord? Are you willing to pray with persistence for the Lord to answer the prayer that you’re bringing before Him?
