On Apr. 15, 2022, it was reported that Russia has formally warned the U.S. that there could be “unpredictable consequences” if America doesn’t stop sending weapons to Ukraine. According to the report, the U.S. made it clear that the weapons shipments will continue. What Russia’s “unpredictable consequences” are is unknown, but here are four predictable things:
Only God knows the day and the hour, but it sure does look close. Here are more events that seem to indicate that we are getting close. One, concerning natural disasters increasing in frequency and intensity at the end of the age: the Philippines were bombarded by a cyclone on Apr. 10-12 with flooding and landslides that killed 167 people, left 110 missing, and impacted 1.9 million people. Two, concerning natural disasters: on Apr. 14, 2022, the temperature at Vostok Station, Antarctica, dropped to -106.2 degrees Fahrenheit, the lowest ever on earth, and it was April. (Writer’s opinion: It makes me skeptical about global warming.) Three, also concerning natural disasters: on Apr. 17, 2022, unusually heavy rains in Durban, South Africa, caused flooding that killed more than 440 people, left more than five dozen missing, and made thousands homeless. Four, concerning famine: on Apr. 13, 2022, it was reported that wholesale food prices in Germany increased 22.6% between Mar. 2021 and Mar. 2022 (the highest in 60 years). Five, concerning pestilence: on Apr. 16, 2022, it was reported that Avian flu has infected about 27 million chickens and turkeys in the U.S., and the price of a dozen eggs has gone from $1 to $2.95 since last November. Six, concerning trouble over Jerusalem and a resumption of animal sacrifices at a rebuilt Temple at the end of the age: Orthodox Jews have been preparing for that by practicing animal sacrifices at other locations near the Temple Mount in recent years. A Jewish group called “Back to the Temple Mount” called for an animal sacrifice to be held on the Temple Mount on Apr. 15, 2022 (Passover of this year). Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced that they planned to cause trouble. They did, and more than 150 Muslims were wounded, and more than 400 were arrested (6 Jews were also arrested before they could offer a sacrifice). Jerusalem is the cup of trembling and burdensome stone prophesied in the Bible. The Bible indicates that world leaders will eventually divide the Temple Mount, and when that happens, God will confront them. (More: In an opinion piece on Apr. 18, 2022, Rabbi Tuly Weisz wrote, “Hamas is terrified that after close to 75 years of statehood, Israel will begin turning its attention to the place where God chose to establish His name…. Palestinian terrorists are getting scared as Jews are getting serious about restoring our holy of holies, the site we pray towards every day, and the building we beseech God for repeatedly throughout our liturgy.” According to Weisz, “When blood spills on Passover and Easter, it is time to rebuild the Temple.”) (More: On Apr. 19, 2022, it was reported that the Palestinian Authority (PA) warned Israel against dividing the Temple Mount. It is something that some world leaders have suggested in the past. Many prophecy teachers believe the Bible teaches that it will be divided (Joel 3:2; Rev. 11:1-2.) (Writer’s opinion: On Apr. 19, 2022, the UN Security Council held a closed-door discussion of the situation. They never accomplish anything because they ignore what the Bible says about dividing the Promised Land, they always condemn Israel, and they never hold the Palestinian terror groups accountable for their violence.) Seven, concerning deceit and corruption: e-mails on Hunter Biden’s authenticated laptop show that Pres. Biden (as a former Senator and as Vice-Pres. of the U.S.) did have contact with several of Hunter’s associates. The authenticated e-mails prove that Pres. Biden is either lying or mentally ill when he denies this (It is likely some of both). Eight, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: Russia appears to be growing angrier with Israel. On Apr. 7, 2022, Israel voted in favor of a UN General Assembly resolution to suspend Russia’s membership on the UN Human Rights Council, something that Russia said is an unfriendly, unlawful, and politically motivated gesture that would have consequences. Since then, Russia has accused Israel of:
On Apr. 18, 2022, Russia called in (and officially reprimanded) Israel’s ambassador to Russia for voting in favor of the UN General Assembly resolution. On the same day, Russian Pres. Putin spoke to PA Chairman Abbas by phone, condemned Israel’s response to Muslim riots on the Temple Mount, and pledged Russia’s support for the PA cause. These are ominous words and actions since Russia and a group of Islamic allies will attack Israel in the latter years and latter days. Finally, are you Rapture Ready? The Euphrates River will be dried up making it easy for the kings of the east (and all their armies) to cross over with their forces to gather in the Valley of Megiddo (which is called in Hebrew Har-Magedon – the mountain of Megiddo) in order to destroy the Jews once and for all. This will just be a gathering place, for the major battles will be fought in Jerusalem and around Bozrah/Petra. Megiddo was a major city located at the western end of the Valley of Jezreel, guarding the famous Megiddo Pass into Israel’s largest valley. I believe the kings of the east are not strictly Chinese and oriental kings but are the 7 remaining kings of the 10 kings/kingdoms/regions spoken of in Daniel 7:24 and Revelation 17:12. Of course, the 8th king, the Antichrist, will be with them. Once the Euphrates River is dried up, He will bring his forces stationed in Babylon with him. While the kings of the east (east of the Euphrates) are in the land of Israel, a coalition of nations will attack and destroy Babylon. They will be led by an ancient people the Bible names as the Medes. “See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold. Their bows will strike down the young men; they will have no mercy on infants nor will they look with compassion on children. Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory of the Babylonians’ pride, will be overthrown by God like Sodom and Gomorrah. She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; no Arab will pitch his tent there, no shepherd will rest his flocks there” (Isaiah 13:17-20). Many scholars think the Kurds of today’s time are descendants of the ancient Medes. This future destruction of Babylon is described further in Isaiah 13:1-22; 14:1-11,22-23, and in Jeremiah chapters 50 & 51. Babylon was never destroyed in the way Isaiah and Jeremiah described when the Medes and Persians took the Babylonian Kingdom in 538 BC. When Darius the Mede assumed the throne in Babylon, he did so without having fought a battle for the right. A contingent of the Medo-Persian armies had slipped into the city at night after they had diverted the River Euphrates far upstream. With the river reduced to knee-high depth, they crawled under the bronze bars that descended into the river to keep the city secure and opened the gates for their armies to capture the mighty Babylon fortress without an arrow being shot. Upon hearing the new of his capital city, Babylon, being destroyed, the Antichrist will attack Jerusalem. This battle is described in Zechariah 12:1-3 and 14:1-2. “Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city” (Zechariah 14:1-2). The city of Jerusalem will be taken along with the spoil, and the women will be raped. Half of the population will go into slavery, but the remnant will remain in the city for a time. From Jerusalem, the Antichrist and his armies (of all nations) will move south to Bozrah, in the land of Edom (southern Jordan) in an attempt to annihilate the remnant of Israel that are taking refuge in the rock fortress of Petra. The remnant Jews have been there since fleeing the Antichrist’s army during his abomination of desolation, approximately 1260 days. The Jew's true Messiah has other plans, however. Once the remnant Jews finally realize Jesus was (and is) their true Messiah and call on Him to save them from total destruction, Jesus will return to earth and will fight for them as in the days of old. His return (2nd Coming) will take place in Bozra, and not the Mount of Olives as is commonly taught. “Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah, this One who is glorious in His apparel, traveling in the greatness of His strength? ‘I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.’ Why is Your apparel red, and Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? ‘I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I have stained all My robes. For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come. I looked, but there was no one to help, and I wondered That there was no one to uphold; therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; and My own fury, it sustained Me. I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, made them drunk in My fury, and brought down their strength to the earth’” (Isaiah 63:1-6). The remnant of Israel gathered in Bozrah and the 2nd Coming are found together in the Old Testament book of Micah, chapter 2, verses 12-13. A New Testament passage of scripture regarding the 2nd Coming is found in Revelation: “ Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, ‘Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.’ And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh” (Revelation 19:11-21). Two great Old Testament prophecies that describe the 2nd Coming are found in Habakkuk 3:1-19 and Psalm 18:8-16. These passages vividly describe the Lord’s wrath on his terrified enemies. At His coming, nature will be greatly affected, as will the terrestrial heavenly sphere. He will come with the wrath of God, riding upon a cherub (with horse-like features). The entire world is illuminated by the brightness of His glorious return. The Battle of Bozrah will continue all the way back to Jerusalem, which overlooks a part of the Kidron Valley, also known as the Valley of Jehoshaphat. “Let the nations bestir themselves, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat; for there will I sit to judge all the nations round about. Put you in the sickle; for he harvest is ripe; come, tread you; for the winepress is full, the vats overflows for their wickedness is great” (Joel 3:12-13). This winepress of Israel’s enemies' blood is also spoken of in Revelation 14:19-20 and is said to stretch for 1,600 furlongs (200 miles) and to be as high as a bridle on a horse. Zechariah also describes the manner in which the Antichrist’s armies will be destroyed in Zechariah 14:12-15. After the slaughter is finished, there will be a victory ascent up the Mount of Olives. “Then shall Jehovah (Lord Jesus) go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east” (Zechariah 14:3-4). It is interesting that the Lord Jehovah fought for Judah (in the day of battle) in the days of Asa and Jehoshaphat and the battles might have taken place in the same valley (later renamed the Valley of Jehoshaphat). The 7th Bowl Judgment will occur at this time and is described in Revelation 16:17-21. This judgment will include the greatest earthquake that has ever occurred in the history of mankind. It will cause the city of Jerusalem to split into three parts and will cause the cities of the nations to fall. “And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And great hail, every stone about the weight of a talent, comes down out of heaven upon men: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail: for the plague thereof is exceeding great” (Revelation 16:19-21). I believe the third Temple (newly built) in Jerusalem will be destroyed at this time. Jesus will build a new temple during the Millennium Kingdom. This is the temple described in Ezekiel 40-44. The 7th Bowl Judgment will bring an end to God’s judgments (Seals, Trumpets, Bowl) upon Israel and the nations and peoples of the earth. This earthquake and the destruction and geographical changes it causes are also described in Zechariah 14:4-5. “And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah.” There will also be a brief blackout during this time. “It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; the lights will diminish. It shall be one day which is known to the Lord— neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen that it will be light” (Zechariah 14:6-7). The earthquake and the blackout are also described in Joel 3:14-17. The blackout is described in Matthew 24:29. The geographical changes to the land of Israel and Jerusalem are also described in Zechariah 14: “And in that day it shall be that living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall occur. And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—The Lord is one, And His name one. All the land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. The people shall dwell in it; and no longer shall there be utter destruction, but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited” (Zechariah 14:8-11). In my opinion, the Rapture will bring about the conditions for Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others to attack Israel to take a ‘spoil’ of gas, minerals, cattle, etc., as the removal of millions of people will affect the U.S.A. more than any other country and will leave her in a very weak and vulnerable position. The U.S.A. will not be able, either mentally, financially, or militarily, to come to the rescue of Israel at this time. The only One that will help Israel in their time of need will be the Great I AM, and that’s the only help you really ever need. The Rapture and the Gog-Magog war results will bring about the necessary conditions for the 10 Kings/Kingdoms to initiate a one-world government, one-world religion, and a one-world currency. They will make a covenant with the ‘many’ which includes Israel. The A.C. will appear on the scene and will confirm (make stronger) the covenant, and its duration will be for 7 years. These will be the last 7 years on earth before Jesus’ 2nd Coming and is known as Daniel’s Seventieth Week/Seven (Daniel 9:24). Of course, we know at the mid-point (approximately) of the Tribulation, the A.C. will kill 3 of the kings and will break his covenant with Israel. He will put an end to the Jew's practice of sacrificing animals to the Lord; and his partner, the false prophet, will set up an image of the A.C. and command everyone to worship him. “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate” (Daniel 9:27). This is the moment, the A.C. shows his true colors and intentions. He will begin his campaign of murder and persecution against the Jews. During the Olivet Discourse, Jesus prophesied about this future time. “Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand),then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:15-22). The remnant Jews will flee to Petra in Bozrah to escape the wrath of the Satanically possessed Antichrist. They will not have time to take any weapons/fuel with them. They will be fleeing for their lives. The only way any weapons/fuel could be gathered to Petra would be if they had foreseen this moment and carried their cache there beforehand. I am in agreement with Mr. Fruchtenbaum that there will be no burying of the dead or burning of weapons during the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ on the earth. The Gog-Magog war must start before Daniel’s Seventieth Week, and is not a part of the Armageddon war. I believe this war will begin relatively soon, as Russia needs this ‘spoil’ (gas, minerals, cattle) to finance its wars, and the Muslim nations allied with Russia will not be able to contain their demonic hatred of the Jews much longer without making good on their promise to annihilate them. Of course, they are in for a rude awakening. “For we know Him who said, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. As a matter of fact, 73 out of 78 verses regarding Israel refer to Israel as a nation. Ezekiel 5:5 :Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her. Israel is the center of the world. Jerusalem is the center of Israel. The Temple Mount is the center of Jerusalem. There will be amount in time before the return of the LORD when the entire world will focus on these points:
According to Matthew 24, the generation that will see the coming of the LORD will also witness God raising the nation of Israel to the place of international prominence. A few weeks, Bible Prophecy teacher Amir Tsarfati, who is a Jewish native Israel that is Christian, and who also has a distinct perspective that weaves biblical history, current events, and Bible prophecy together to shine light on the mysteries about the end times, shared this video and mentioned an important date that has caught the attention of many fundamental followers of Islam, which is July 8, 2022: WATCH VIDEO HERE Since this video was released, there has been a tremendous uptick in violence near the Temple Mount. Just last week, which would be less than a week after this video was released, rioting commenced at the Temple Mount; HAMAS was responsible for coordinating attacks, and over 300 people were arrested and well over four dozen injured, both rioting Arab youths and Israeli security forces. Gaza has been sealed shut since. A few days ago, a large gathering of Arabs in Haifa, Israel called for intifada (uprising) against the “terrorist State of Israel” and its “terrorist police.” These Arabs called for violence against Jews in the State of Israel. Furthermore, HAMAS has been attacking with rockets because a Jewish “flag parade” occurred in Jerusalem. As a result, Jerusalem has been on alert, and the West Bank and Gaza have been on lockdown as Passover enters its final days, just after the Christian Resurrections Sunday (Easter) has ended. Keep in mind the Orthodox Easter is this weekend and Muslims are nearing the final week of Ramadan. Just yesterday, Muslim riots continue on Temple Mount. Bothe Jews and even the police have been targets of Molotovs, explosives and rocks. As a result, Jews have been banned from ascending the Temple Mount until the end of Ramadan. Today, HAMAS Islamic extremists began to riot and engage in violence against security forces there to keep the peace. The Islamists cried for jihad [war] against Israel. (REMEMBER THE VIDEO ABOVE!!!!) Both Jordan and the Arab League have stood up and voiced direct support of the Islamic jihadists objectives on Temple Mount. Keep in mind that a Moslem Shrine, the Dome of the Rock, sits upon the Temple Mount and to Muslims, this is considered the 3rd most holiest site in Islam. Now look at this scripture: Revelation 11:1-2—And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. This is yet to happen as Israel does not have full control over the Temple Mount. The Gentiles have Gaza, and are eyeing the West Bank……Jerusalem is next!!! Nevertheless, it is painstakingly obvious that as tensions continue to escalate on the Temple Mount, it is just a matter of time before a full-fledged war erupts in the Middle East……….and remember the date mentioned in the video: July 8, 2022. Ultimately, something will have to happen soon that will restore Israel’s ability to worship, conduct services and establish the Lord’s Sanctuary on the Temple Mount. It will be most likely be a Peace Treaty or a truce brokered by none other than the anti-Christ himself: Daniel 9:27--And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. The point here is that was written thousands of years ago in the Bible, is now beginning to come to pass at an accelerated pace, excuse time keeps on ticking. Couple with many other end-time events that are quickly converging, the Summer of 2022 is going to be epic! The municipal administration, including the city’s mayor, Matteo Lepore, and “digital agenda” director, Massimo Bugani, presented the controversial “Smart Citizen Wallet” on March 29th at a press conference on digital innovation. According to reports, the “Smart Citizen Wallet” currently has a strong focus on “promoting climate-friendly behavior” and will reward citizens for things such as recycling, taking public transportation, avoiding tickets, and managing energy usage. A person’s score will then provide them with benefits such as discounts, cultural activities, and more. Despite the city’s insistence that “no one will be forced to participate” in the social credit system, many are sounding the alarm about the dangers of its implementation, saying it could easily be expanded and abused by governing authorities. After learning of the city’s intention to implement the system, Privacy Network, an Italian organization that seeks to “bring privacy and digital rights—to the general public,” issued a statement warning about the legal, ethical, and social ramifications of the “Smart Citizen Wallet.” “These practices, if poorly developed or used, can also lead to serious limitations and violations of citizens’ rights and freedoms, as well as discriminatory practices, also pursued through technological means, such as ‘social credit’ systems (or social scoring),” the statement stressed. “Our concern is increased by the fact that similar systems have already been introduced in other Italian cities as well; first of all in Rome, where the Smart Citizen Wallet is already being tested.” Many are comparing the “Smart Citizen Wallet” to China’s social credit system, which punishes and rewards members of society based on what they determine to be good or bad conduct. According to The Hill, “China’s social credit system is a combination of government and business surveillance that gives citizens a ‘score’ that can restrict the ability of individuals to take actions — such as purchasing plane tickets, acquiring property or taking loans — because of behaviors.” An Italian author, Beatrice Silenzi, warned that potentially under the Italian system, as is already the case in China, “citizens will be assessed on the basis of obedience to the municipal administration.” The well-scoring person “will become a Serie A citizen, enjoying greater rights than everyone else,” Silenzi cautioned. Concern is mounting that more regions and governments will soon decide to jump on the bandwagon by adopting their own social credit systems to supposedly battle various “social issues.” Similar to the new Italian pilot program, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Mastercard joined forces in 2021 under the guise of combating so-called “climate change,” to create their own social credit system. The UNFCCC and Mastercard designed a new kind of credit card, which received overflowing praise from the World Economic Forum, that helps users take “responsibility for every transaction” by having their spending monitored and cut off when their “carbon max” has been reached. Examining Biblical Prophecy sheds startling light on the question of whether a social credit system will be used and abused by governments in the future. In the book of Revelation, the Bible warns readers that a global government will form on earth in the future and that its leader will restrict the rights of citizens to buy and sell based on their submission to him and his government (Rev. 13). This leader, the “antichrist,” will demand that “all kindreds, and tongues, and nations” worship him and accept his “mark” during the seven-year tribulation: Revelation 13:16-17 KJV – “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” (read more about the mark of the beast — here). The implementation of social credit scoring systems, the globalists’ push toward “abandon[ing] the traditional system of money” in exchange for digital, and the public conditioning to accept such government overreach, should be eye-opening. It demonstrates that this antichrist system, described in Scripture, is brazenly at the door. As Christian author Jonathan Brentner recently explained, amid all of the agenda-driven deception, there is good news for those who know Christ and have accepted His free gift of Salvation. “The good news is that the Lord will come for us before the start of the Tribulation and the appearance of the antichrist upon the world scene,” he underscored. “All of those in Christ will miss all of the wrath of the day of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11), this is the assurance of biblical prophecy.” Jesus tells Christians, “when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28). The Bible gives us instructions that apply in any time period. Those truths do not change as the day of the Lord approaches. We live according to certain principles and those principles do not change. However, even though God’s standards do not change, the Bible does teach us to respect the danger of such times, and to adjust our lives accordingly. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NASB) says, “Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.” Where the New American Standard Bible says “stimulate,” the King James Version says, “provoke.” Both are English translations of a Greek word that literally means to “incite.” Incite one another to love and to do good deeds. The best place to do that is in regular gatherings. During Covid lockdowns, verse 25 became a rallying cry for many churches. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” (KJV). It is fundamental. We see Christians getting together on a regular basis all through the New Testament, just as God’s people did in the Old Testament. In the United States, it became a First Amendment struggle. Politicians and bureaucrats seemed intent on shutting down churches, while many churches were just as intent on finding ways to follow God’s word. It has always been needful and right for Christians to gather regularly in worship and fellowship, for purposes of discipleship, encouragement, charity, and evangelism. Verse 25 says that this need will grow in the last of the last days. It says to do these things “all the more, as you see the day drawing near.” What day? The day of the Lord. That’s a time period mentioned prominently in both the Old and New Testaments that begins at the time of the tribulation. This is especially interesting for us right now. The rapture will happen before the tribulation, so we won’t see the tribulation itself. However, we can see signs that the day of the Lord is coming quickly, and that should have a powerful impact on our behavior. In such a time, we are to intensify our efforts to encourage one another in love, faith, and good works. We are to bind ourselves to one another. The untethered will be swept off into tides of despair. They will still be saved—still go to heaven—but their Christian testimony on earth will become weak and ineffective. They will lose peace. The joy of the Lord that should be giving them strength will be dampened by waves of guilt and discouragement. We need one another—especially in times like these. We need fellowship in church and beyond. We need to laugh together, cry together, and talk with one another. As we talk, we help each other understand the turmoils of the day from Christian perspectives. Godly fellowship gives Christian context to the world around us. And that is encouraging. No one is above this need. That’s why it is so crucial to visit those who can’t leave home or are confined to hospitals or nursing homes. Just your face can bring joy and encouragement into a dark place or a difficult time. 2 Timothy 3 speaks of the last days as a time of peril as people act in selfish ways, sowing confusion and deceit. Verse 13 (NKJV) says, “Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” Paul’s answer was to encourage young Timothy to continue in sound doctrine, trusting the word of God as His guide. That is a lesson from the Holy Spirit for Christians of all generations—but especially for times like these. Daily Jot: Regulating free speech Obama style – Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Former president Barack Obama Thursday called for regulation of free speech because Americans have lost their “capacity to distinguish between fact, opinion, and wholesale fiction.” Prefacing his remarks as “pretty close to a First Amendment absolutist,” Obama said “people are dying because of misinformation.” Obama’s point is that there is so much misinformation and disinformation circulating through social media that nobody knows the truth, and his big idea on fixing the problem is for the government to regulate free speech in conjunction with a committee of people from various aspects of American life—the technology industry, political advocacy groups, and government bureaucrats. Trouble is, what Obama wants to regulate is dissent to his politics. There were two examples that he repeated throughout his speech: Election fraud and vaccination information. He said, “A lot of times this makes it impossible to tell the difference between, say, a peer-reviewed article by Dr. Anthony Fauci and a miracle cure being pitched by a huckster… The fact that scientists developed safe, effective vaccines in record time is an unbelievable achievement. And yet despite the fact that we’ve now, essentially clinically tested the vaccine on billions of people worldwide, around 1 in 5 Americans is still willing to put themselves at risk and put their families at risk rather than get vaccinated. People are dying because of misinformation.” There is so much wrong with this statement, starting with admitting that people worldwide were used for experimentation. He also used the election as an example: “President Trump’s own attorney general has said that the Justice Department uncovered no evidence of widespread voter fraud. A review of the ballots in Arizona’s largest county, the results of which were endorsed by some pretty courageous local Republicans, because many of them were harassed and received death threats, actually more votes for President Biden and fewer votes for President Trump. And yet today, as we speak, a majority of Republicans still insist that President Biden’s victory was not legitimate. That’s a lot of people.” But Obama’s misinformation is ignoring the massive voter integrity issues uncovered in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin. People are going to jail for voter fraud. But Obama failed to mention that. It’s his version of free speech. Only. The dissent over the COVID vaccine and treatment has many peer-reviewed studies and more facts are coming in every day that the experimental vaccine was not as advertised, and that people did die—not from misinformation, but from government-mandated treatments. Treatments that may have prevented those deaths were censored and denied as misinformation. But Obama doesn’t acknowledge these truths. He wants to regulate free speech to only speech that supports his political agenda. He is not promoting democracy, but tyranny. A government bureaucracy regulating free speech would be worse than one that regulates healthcare. And we have seen first-hand those results. He also wants to educate children on how to recognize disinformation. Obama said that this new truth would strengthen democracy. He said, “It is a chance for all of us to fight for truth, not absolute truth, not a fixed truth, but to fight for what, deep down, we know is more true, is right. It’s a chance for us to do that not just because we’re afraid of what will happen if we don’t, but because we’re hopeful about what can happen if we do.” So to Obama there is no absolute truth, only what we know is “more true.” Folks, it is far better to allow free speech than to regulate it. And yes, there is a lot of bad information coming from the left and the right, even among Christians who should know better. But I submit that Christ himself is the answer, “If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-32).” Christ sent us the Spirit of Truth to guide us in all truth—something Obama and his political ilk would not understand. He no longer was a member of the royal family. But after forty years in the wilderness thinking that his life was ruined, God recommissioned him. He called Moses to lead the Israelites out of their bondage in Egypt. So, Moses took his brother Aaron along and demanded that Pharaoh release the Hebrews. But Pharaoh dug in and refused. As a result, God sent a series of plagues upon Egypt, and finally the Israelites were free. As they made their way to a new land, they came to what looked like an insurmountable obstacle: the Red Sea. Then the Bible tells us, “As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them” (Exodus 14:10 NLT). They took their eyes off God and put them on the Egyptian army, which, by the way, was the mightiest army on Earth at the time. Moses began to pray, but God said, in effect, “This isn’t a time to pray. This is a time to move.” Did you know there could come a moment in your life when you don’t need to pray about something any longer? You just need to act on it. That time had come for Moses. God told him to hold his staff over the Red Sea, and when he did, the waters parted, and the Israelites traveled through the middle of it. When they reached the other side, the waters collapsed on the pursuing Egyptian army. And in response, the Israelites gave glory to the Lord. When we need something from God, we’re passionate in prayer, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But after He has answered our prayers, let’s be just as passionate about giving Him thanks.
