Marvel Premier Issue #1, which debuted in 1972, was the first comic to introduce the concept of the “Infinity Stones” to the world. The first stone to debut was the “soul jewel” (later called the Soul Gem) which was given to a created being named Adam Warlock. In 1976, the Soul Gem was reintroduced again under the Captain Marvel comic lines, as being one of six gems, which controlled the universe. Now, prior to 1972, Captain America had fought Red Skull (his archenemy) over a number of fronts, one of which, was the “Cosmic Cube,” (Tales of Suspense #79- 1966), which was later identified as the Tesseract (which was later identified as a cube that housed the Space Gem). These “Infinity Stones” were the remnants of the first sentient being in the universe, simply known as Nemesis.
 
At some point in eons past, Nemesis decides he doesn’t want to live alone any longer as the sole sentient being in the universe, so he destroys himself and his remains became these six stones- Soul, Power, Reality, Space, Time, and Mind Stones. These stones were then scattered across the universe, showing up in the different Marvel Comics and varying storylines until 1991 when they are all brought back together by the evil lord Thanos. His intent, wipe out half of the universe (to save it).
 
Now, when one is able to collect all the stones and put them together, (known simply as the Singularity), the wearer(s) becomes the most powerful being in the universe. The best way to harness this power is by creating a gauntlet (a magical metal glove that can channel the power of the stones to the desires of the wearer). In the comics, Thanos has a gauntlet created and goes on a murderous mission across the galaxy to collect all the stones. Once he has them, he wipes out half of creation by simply snapping his fingers (The Infinity Gauntlet-1991, Infinity-2013, and Avenger’s Infinity War-2018).
 
In the movie Infinity War (2018), when Thanos snaps his fingers, half of all living creatures disappear in an event they would later call the “Blip.” In part two, “Avenger’s End Game” (2019), the movie skips ahead five years to the year 2024, only to find the remaining Avengers eking out a living in the post-Apocalyptic world where half of life disappeared. They eventually figure out a way to use the Quantum Realm to travel back in time and prevent Thanos from collecting all the stones in the first place.
 
Ultimately, the Avengers are able to undo the “Blip” and are able to return the fifty percent of life that had been disappeared. However, the return of all those who had disappeared (now five years later) presents its own problems. These issues are explored in the ensuing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies (Spiderman Far from Home) and Disney+ television miniseries (Wanda Vision, The Falcon and Winter Soldier, Loki, etc.) Confused yet?
 
Assessment
 
Superheroes are the Greek gods of secular modern life- otherworldly figures able to tackle world problems with a single bound. Like the gods of Greek mythology, they can be flawed. This is not the first time I’ve written about Marvel Comics or even superheroes in general. I’ve even addressed these issues in my portion of Terry James' book “Lawless” in a chapter titled The New Old Ways: Ancient Paganism Gets a Technological Facelift. If we take the ideas in comic books and superheroes at face value, they are simply a new form of modern paganism being introduced as mythological canon.
 
Granted, I think most reasonable people can take them for what they are; a form of entertainment. Nevertheless, simply looking at the increasing popularity of all these types of movies and shows (Game of Thrones, Superman(s), Batman(s), Wonder Woman(s), Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Marvel Phases 1-4, the Walking Dead, Harry Potter, Supernatural, etc.) and you notice a certain hunger the world has for the otherworldly. The popularity of these, and the continued resurgence of them in pop culture (comics, television, movies, and books) speaks to a desire in mankind to break out of our mundane existence and return to a time of mythology, magic, and monsters.
 
One area comics, television, and movies love to delve into, is in the realm of religion and spirituality. But not just any religion (they don’t go anywhere near Hinduism or Islam). There seems to be this innate desire to tap into the Christian ideas on creation and the last days, in an attempt to either redefine where we came from or redefine where everything ends up. What was especially of interest to me (in regards to the theatrical versions), was the commonality the “Blip” had with the Biblical concept of the Rapture. Their use of the mass disappearance (i.e., the blip) as a form of punishment seemed ironic, since, the Biblical version of this similar event is joyous; even referred to as our Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13).
 
Marvel movies aside, there is the continued theme of mass disappearances in more and more books, television shows, and movies. Where this gets really interesting, is the misdirect Hollywood and pop culture is seemingly and willfully taking people. In each fictional book or movie scenario, the disappearance is always viewed as a negative event and it always leaves a post-apocalyptic world filled with lawlessness, natural disasters, and the general breakdown of humanity, in its wake…until a hero rises up.
 
Now, the Bible does say that when they are saying “peace and safety,” sudden destruction comes upon them (1 Thess. 5:1-4). So there will be a time of chaos and destruction that happens in the aftermath of the Rapture. There will also be a “hero” who rises up in the midst of that chaos to take control.
 
And the world will regroup.
 
It will regroup in the form of ten regions/nations.
 
These ten will form a government known simply as the Beast.
 
This Beast will then be led by a man, who comes in like the ‘white knight’ promising peace and prosperity, but in his wake, follows war, famine, pestilence, and death.
 
The fact that we keep seeing these mass-disappearance themes pop up seems (to me at least) like the world is being conditioned to, not necessarily accept mass disappearances as normal, but to make everyone believe the Rapture is not unique. It seems as if Satan is muddying the waters ahead of time so when the Rapture does occur, there will be so many possible explanations for its occurrence, that people will not know what to think.
 
Sound familiar?
 
Satan, as it were, has been busy as of late, muddying the waters.
 
Fake news, deep fakes, misinformation campaigns, deep state propaganda, media manipulation of the news, the ever-growing list of classified information, historical revisions, and the non-stop, 24/7 flood of information coming at an increasingly dumbed-down population from every direction has everyone on the verge of madness. Even if the truth does come out, by the time it does, so much else has emerged in the meantime that most people have already moved on.
 
Now, the appeal to the superhero genre stems in part, from the gross injustices we see each and every day on the news and in our communities. Every day, we hear or see instances of someone’s home being robbed, cops being shot, cops acting like tyrants, mobs looting, politicians being overtly corrupt, terrorist attacks, and a million other forms of aberrant behavior that just boggles our minds. It is there, somewhere in the deep recesses of our mind, we think, why can’t someone fix this? Why can’t Superman be real and save that family’s car from sinking into the river? Or that town from being destroyed by a tornado. There are literally hundreds of tragedies a day around the world, and if we just had someone who could fix our planet, we could finally have peace and safety. And unlike the movies, in real life, it seems like the bad guys always get away with it.
 
Not only that, but we have lived in this world where the laws of nature reign triumphant. We age, we get ailments, we get old, fat, and gray, and then we die. Miracles rarely happen, but if they do, it is always explained away by the skeptics as some nonsensical one-off. Science says we come from monkeys and that we are just one, giant, cosmic, accident. Nihilism, atheism, and human secularism have stripped humanity of its spiritual identity, while paganism and mysticism have rushed in to fill the void with their own fantastical, yet, vapid doctrines of demons.
 
Conclusion
 
The Bible and Biblical Christianity have been relegated to old church hymns and little old ladies in soft tennis shoes. It has been relegated to being irrelevant and outdated; too unfit and uncouth for our new modern age of moral relativism. Christian movies and television are never given the same platforms and budgets as the big box office movies do, and if they are (these are the exceptions) they are generally so grotesquely unbiblical, they do more harm than good (i.e., Noah, Exodus: Gods and Kings, Last Temptation of Christ, Left Behind, etc.). Most Christians these days either have to ignore movies altogether, take their current entertainment with huge, cow-lick size grain of salt, or stick to “family-friendly” movies. However, the last one is increasingly under assault as “family” is continually being redefined by Hollywood to be anything and everything but the traditional, nuclear family.
 
What should we expect though? We are neck-deep in Satan’s territory, and he was never going to give us a fair shake.
 
But back to my original point. Let’s think about this strategically for a second.
 
First off, we know that Satan is the de facto ruler of this earth in our present dispensation (Luke 4:5-6). Secondly, we know that Satan has successfully infiltrated and taken over Hollywood and basically the entire film and entertainment industries. We can think of the mainstream media, the film and entertainment industry, Silicon Valley, and most other places of power, as Satan’s mouthpieces. They do what he wants them to do, and they echo what he wants them to echo.
 
Therefore, the fact that we are seeing an increasing number of movies, television shows, video games, comics, and books all in recent years, aimed at mass abductions, mass disappearances, die-offs, plagues, aliens, zombies, meteors/comets striking the earth, superheroes, monsters, and magic occurring on an increasingly greater and greater scale, must mean we are close. We are close, since these movies relegate our day to the end of the age, yet, deny the true, biblical reasons for how and why the world really ends (the Rapture of the Church, the Tribulation, Armageddon, etc.).
 
It would behoove us to watch what our adversary is doing, and take note of his frantic maneuverings. As evil and deluded as Satan might be, he is no dummy. I’d venture to say, he knows the Bible better than most, and you better believe, he knows there is a Pre-Tribulation Rapture. Why else would Satan expend the enormous amount of capital (time, people, money, and resources) to message this as greatly as he has if we were nowhere near the season of the actual Rapture?
 
Like sharks circling, the increase in the frenzied satanic activity is/should be a warning sign to us that our time on this earth is drawing near. Satan knows his time is short, and he is pulling out all the stops to minimize the damage to the final beast system by the Rapture. He is busily steamrolling globalism into every corner of our world. He is maximizing his efforts to minimize and corrupt Christianity or persecute it mercilessly if the first two avenues don’t work. He has put immorality, debauchery, and wholesale wickedness on steroids, and now has most of the governments of the world doing his bidding political and legislative efforts. Lastly, he is saturating our entertainment with things that appear to be like the Rapture, but are caused by other things so as to muddy the waters before the real event happens. 
 
In my estimation, there will be a small window of time after the Rapture (a gap in time of a few months to perhaps 2-3 years), but it will be filled with geopolitical, economic, and social tumult and chaos. It will make what we saw in the summer of 2020, look tame in comparison. The world will immediately reel to and fro as if teetering on the edge of an abyss. Yet, I believe, many will see and recognize what just happened. Many will go online and search these things out until the Internet is shut down. This gap will not be a picnic, and no one reading this now, should think, perhaps I’ll wait until after so I can really believe it.
 
Be warned. One second after the Rapture of the Church, the world will, once again, be thrust into a time of magic and monsters, as the gates of hell finally burst open unimpeded. The supernatural, will, once again, become the natural, and the wickedness will be amplified so much so that people will wish they had to deal with zombies hordes, instead of what they get.
 
But one second after will be too late for many. Those who recognize it for what it truly was, will weep and mourn the opportunities they squandered in our present age. For now, if they want to receive Christ, it will cost them everything. Not just in Iran or North Korea, but in Kansas, Texas, and Florida. In England, and Australia. In Europe and Asia. In Africa and the island nations. True biblical Christianity will no longer be tolerated, and this Beast will usher in a new holocaust with extreme prejudice to stamp out these Tribulation believers, wherever he/they find them. Pray you are found worthy to escape these things ahead of time (Luke 21:34-36).
 
And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. Also, it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. If anyone has an ear, let him hear:
 
If anyone is to be taken captive,
    to captivity he goes;
 if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
    with the sword must he be slain.

Iran and Israel are now racing toward open conflict following a string of attacks on sensitive targets
 
Iran and Israel entered into a new phase of their shadow war over the nuclear arms program of the Islamic Republic and its attempt to expand Tehran’s influence across the Middle East.
 
It is well known that Israel launched more than 1,000 airstrikes on Iranian weapons transports to proxies in Syria in order to prevent the further build-up of an anti-Israel force under the banner of the “Golan Liberation Brigade.”
 
This campaign has so far prevented the Iranians from getting a solid foothold on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, but the story doesn’t end there. The Iranians now use an Afghan militia to cobble together a giant force that seems to be preparing for conflict with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the near future.
 
Battle for the seas
 
There have also been recent reports regarding Israeli naval efforts to disrupt illicit oil transports to Syria, and a ship belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has been attacked by the Israelis in the Red Sea causing only damage to the vessel.
 
Foreign media reported more attacks on ships that were illegally transporting oil to Syria from Iran. In the end, Iran finally responded by attacking Israeli-owned ships in the Persian Gulf.
 
Last Tuesday, the MV Hyperion Ray – which sails under a Bahamian flag but is Israeli owned – came under missile fire near the United Arab Emirates in the Gulf of Oman. Nobody took responsibility for the attack but Israeli officials believe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps was behind the incident. It was the third time an Israeli-owned ship had been attacked in the Persian Gulf over the last month.
 
Unrelenting air strikes
 
For its part, Israel continues to attack illicit weapons transports to Iran’s allies in Syria and Lebanon. Just three days ago local Syrian media reported fresh Israeli airstrikes on weapons depots in the vicinity of Damascus. Local state-controlled media said that a number of anti-aircraft missiles hit their targets, while one rocket fell on Lebanese soil. The Israel Air Force reported that all planes had returned safely.
 
Mysterious blast
 
The big news, however, in the shadow war between Iran and Israel came from the Natanz nuclear facility.
 
Last weekend, just as the new US Administration of President Joe Biden was engaging in fresh talks with the Islamic Republic over rejoining the JCPOA, the 2015 landmark nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, a mysterious event happened at Natanz.
 
According to the latest information, explosives were used to disrupt the nuclear base’s internal power system. The explosion caused severe damage to the site and it could take up to nine months to repair the damage. The strike took place only a day after Iran proudly introduced new uranium enrichment centrifuges at Natanz in a new breach of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).
 
The IR-5 and IR-6 centrifuges will enable Iran to speed up uranium enrichment significantly. News of the advanced centrifuges came less than a year after Israel, via the Mossad, launched a devastating strike against a new facility at Natanz.
 
Seeking revenge
 
After the Israeli act of sabotage at Natanz, Iran decided to quickly assemble a new hall for the uranium enrichment and is now working to remove all sensitive facilities at the plant to underground facilities that are expected to be ready next year.
 
Initially, Iranian officials blamed the explosion on an accident, but later admitted that a foreign power was responsible for the “sabotage” or “terror.”
 
Alireza Zakani, the head of the Iranian parliament’s research center, said that several thousands of centrifuges were damaged and destroyed.
 
Zakani’s remarks could not independently be confirmed, but Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said that if Iran determines that Israel was behind the latest attack on Natanz “then it will get its response and will see what a stupid thing it has done.”
 
A dangerous deal
 
The incident in Natanz came just a day after the United States and Iran opened fresh indirect negotiations in Vienna about rejoining the original nuclear deal (JCPOA).
 
The sides communicate with each other via European diplomats and the talks have reportedly been stalled over differences about who will make the first step in order to reach a situation whereby the Islamic Republic comes in full compliance with the JCPOA.
 
That means that Iran stops enriching uranium above the 3.5 percent level and gets rid of its stockpile of more than 1,000 kilograms of enriched uranium above the 20 percent level.
 
In turn, the US will lift all the sanctions that the previous US Administration of President Donald J. Trump had slapped on Iran.
 
Israel has already announced that it will not be bound by a revised nuclear accord between Iran and six world powers in case the US rejoins the JCPOA.
 
Israel’s long arm
 
The government in Jerusalem and the Chief of Staff of the IDF, Aviv Kochavi, hinted that it was Israel that was behind the new attack on Natanz.
 
“The IDF’s actions throughout the Middle East are not hidden from our enemies, who are observing us, seeing our capabilities, and carefully considering their next steps,” Kochavi said during a speech honoring Israel’s fallen soldiers.
 
It is widely believed that the Israeli spy agency Mossad organized the new attack on Natanz, according to Western sources who now claim it was a cyber attack.
 
The Mossad was also responsible for earlier attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities and last year assassinated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the father of Iran’s nuclear program and one of the most influential Iranian nuclear scientists. The Israeli spy agency stole a large part of Iran’s nuclear archive in January 2018.
 
 
Iran now defiantly announced that it will begin enriching uranium to an unprecedented 60 percent level. Fissile material must reach 90 percent purity to enable Iran to produce its first nuclear weapon.
 
The Biden Administration, meanwhile, reacted to the Iranian announcement by saying it was concerned over Iran’s “provocative” actions.

With the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, most people believed that communism had been defeated. The Cold War had ended, the good guys won, and that was that. But it did not turn out to be so simple. Most of the world’s nuclear stockpiles remained in place. All sides would soon develop more efficient weapons and delivery systems. Communism would rise again, both inside the United States and outside. And by 2021, the threat of atomic war was again growing.
 
In the early 1990s, only a few worried about China. The Chinese were usually seen as backward, but eager to expand trade. “Experts” told us that trade would make China dependent on the United States. They also said that North Korea was a regional threat to South Korea, but not a threat to the world. And with China’s help, they said, the North Korean danger would be quickly nullified.
 
A common joke of the time said that the only communists left in the world were a few diehards in American universities. Those diehards turned out to be a bigger threat to American values and prosperity than anyone knew. But people were wrong to think that the external threat had gone away.
 
China and Russia embraced highly supervised market economies. Russia even began to have democratic elections. But its experiment with democracy was soon taken over by a regime with a bad habit of poisoning and imprisoning its political enemies. A market economy and heavy trade with the United States made China an economic superpower. But those things did not lesson its severe human rights abuses.
 
In recent years, United States military leaders seemed to change their focus. Political correctness, global warming, and critical race theory became the new priorities. The Pentagon now seems intent on weeding out service members whose political opinions the new establishment doesn’t like. Meanwhile, China is building a new, high tech military designed to defeat the United States.
 
The 20th century should have taught us once and for all that weakness invites war and global weakness invites global war. America’s European allies have become appeasers. Their peace-at-any-cost mantra makes the world an ever more dangerous place.
 
Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines recently told a US Senate committee, “China increasingly is a near-peer competitor challenging the United States in multiple arenas, while pushing to revise global norms in ways that favor the authoritarian Chinese system.” He added that China “has substantial cyber capabilities that if deployed, at a minimum, can cause localized, temporary disruptions to critical infrastructure inside the United States.”
 
According to Reuters, “Haines' opening statement also cited Russian efforts to undermine U.S. influence, Iran's contribution to instability in the Middle East, global terrorism and potential North Korean efforts to ‘drive wedges’ between Washington and its allies as significant threats.”
 
We live in increasingly perilous times. In fact, the world seems poised on the precipice of the worst period of tribulation ever seen — tribulation vividly described in the books of Daniel and Revelation. But before that terrible period begins, God will snatch away His people like a government removing its ambassadors before the onset of war.
 
These are days to stay close to God, close to His word, and close to His people.

Don’t you hate it when what you get turns out to be far different from what you were promised? In this article, I am only going to share facts that have been documented by corporate media sources. These facts are going to upset a lot of people, because they prove that much of what we had been promised didn’t turn out to be true. So many people that I know were convinced that if they just got their two shots they would be 100 percent protected for the rest of their lives and they would never have to be concerned about getting COVID ever again. In addition, most Americans still seem to believe that if a high enough percentage of the population gets their shots COVID will be defeated and the pandemic will be brought to an end. Unfortunately, all of those assumptions have turned out to be dead wrong.
 
If you don’t want to believe me, perhaps you will believe the CEO of Pfizer. This week, he admitted that “fully vaccinated” people will need a third shot of the vaccine within 12 months…
 
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said people will “likely” need a third dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of getting fully vaccinated. His comments were made public Thursday but were taped April 1.
 
Bourla said it’s possible people will need to get vaccinated against the coronavirus annually.
 
From the very beginning of this crisis, I have been warning my readers that any immunity would be very temporary. Natural COVID immunity is very temporary, and immunity conferred by the vaccines is very temporary too.
 
The CEO of Pfizer is comparing the COVID vaccines to flu shots. Every year millions of Americans rush out to get their flu shots, and the CEO of Pfizer is admitting that it looks like the COVID vaccines will be on a similar schedule…
 
“There are vaccines that’s like polio that one dose is enough, there are vaccines like pneumococcal vaccine that one dose is enough for adults and there are vaccines like flu that you need every year,” Bourla said. “The Covid virus looks more like the influenza virus than the polio virus.”
 
If people are going to need a new shot every year, that means that COVID will be with us for a very long time to come.
 
This is essentially an admission that the COVID pandemic will not be ending any time soon.
 
Needless to say, Pfizer stands to make giant mountains of money if COVID vaccines become a yearly thing, and we need to keep that in mind.
 
A lot of people that I know are going to be extremely upset when they finally realize that the two shots that they got only provide temporary immunity.
 
And of course lots of people are still getting sick after being fully vaccinated. According to the CDC, so far there have been almost 6,000 documented cases of people being infected after getting two shots, and dozens of them have died…
 
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has reported that roughly 5,800 people who received a coronavirus vaccine still ultimately came down with the disease anyway, according to CNN.
 
Of those 5,800, 396 of them (roughly 7 percent) were hospitalized; 74 of the vaccinated people ultimately died. The report proves that the vaccines, though frequently touted by the government and the media, are not guaranteed to prevent everyone from contracting the virus.
 
That wasn’t supposed to happen.
 
But it is happening.
 
Meanwhile, there is a lot of uncertainty about how the current vaccines will fare against variants that have already developed and variants that will develop in the future.
 
At this point we just don’t know how effective the vaccines will be, but the New York Times is assuring us that we don’t have anything to be concerned about…
 
“I use the term ‘scariants,’” said Dr. Eric Topol, professor of molecular medicine at Scripps Research in La Jolla, Calif., referring to much of the media coverage of the variants. “Even my wife was saying, ‘What about this double mutant?’ It drives me nuts. People are scared unnecessarily. If you’re fully vaccinated, two weeks post dose, you shouldn’t have to worry about variants at all.”
 
Really?
 
I have a feeling that Dr. Eric Topol will end up eating those words.
 
The reason why a new flu vaccine comes out every year is because the flu is constantly changing and mutating.
 
The same thing is happening to COVID, and there are already dozens of mutant variations spreading around the globe.
 
To me, Dr. Eric Topol’s statement was exceedingly irresponsible, especially considering some of the studies that have come out lately. Here is just one example…
 
Two doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine were found to have only a 10.4% efficacy against mild-to-moderate infections caused by the B.1.351 South Africa variant, according to a phase 1b-2 clinical trial published on Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine. This is a cause for grave concern as the South African variants share similar mutations to the other variants leaving those vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine potentially exposed to multiple variants.
 
In this article, I haven’t even discussed all of the side effects that we have been witnessing. A few days ago, the FDA issued an unprecedented order regarding the Johnson and Johnson vaccine because it was causing blood clots in a number of cases…
 
This week, the Food and Drug Administration called for a halt in the administration of the single dose vaccine for COVID-19 manufactured by Johnson and Johnson. The halt was ascribed to the rare incidence of blood clots that could potentially be related to the vaccine.
 
I am glad that the FDA decided to step in, but the order came too late for this guy…
 
When the news broke about the pause of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine Tuesday, one Coast family was already living with a tragedy they believe was caused by the vaccine.
 
It started out as a normal day for 43-year-old Brad Malagarie of St. Martin. This busy father of seven spent the morning at his D’Iberville office before heading to get a Johnson & Johnson vaccine a little after noon.
 
He returned to work, and within three hours coworkers noticed he was unresponsive at his desk.
 
It shouldn’t be controversial to say that rushing experimental vaccines through the testing process was a really bad idea.
 
We should be putting the safety of the American people first, and nobody knows for sure what the long-term effects of these experimental treatments will be.
 
In this day and age, we all need to do our own research and we all need to think for ourselves, because the big pharmaceutical companies are more concerned with profits than anything else.
 
If you are harmed by their experimental therapies, the big pharmaceutical companies won’t be there to pick up the pieces for you if something goes horribly wrong.

I have often written about my best friend, Sonny, who passed away in November last of cancer. He and I were inseparable most of our lives growing up. It was a time when we could roam in the woods playing cowboys and Indians or combat or Civil War or whatever. We camped out regularly and we were blessed to be together as friends, closer than brothers. When we graduated high school, I was to head off to college in the fall. While Sonny wanted to go to college, his dad insisted he join the Air Force. I remember driving to his house around 4:30 in the morning to see him off. The morning that Sonny left for basic training changed our lives forever. After we said goodbye, I cried all the way home.
 
Going through some old boxes of photos, I ran into a letter that Sonny wrote to me about two weeks after he left. In fact, it is written on July 24, 1973—a day after his 18th birthday. Sonny was the type of person who would make the best out of any situation. I knew he would have rather went to college to later become an astronaut, but here he was, Air Force recruit, and he was finding the very best in the experience. He wrote: “Dear Bill, How are you? I just received your letter yesterday (his birthday). I am sorry I didn’t write sooner. It’s just that I don’t have too much time to myself. I really like the Air Force. I’m not too crazy about basic training, but the overall Air Force is great. Today is my 13th training day. Come Thursday, we will be half way through with it (15th day).
 
“You might have noticed by my address I’m in 3701 squadron. We’re the number one squadron on the base of Lackland! Pretty lucky, huh! I’ll try to give you a general picture of what basic is like. We get up at 5 am every morning except Sundays (then we get up at 6 am). We make our beds (which is becoming a habit). Half the time, I can’t even remember making it. I guess that’s what you call self-discipline, ha! Then we fall out for chow. After chow, we come back and finish making any beds we didn’t get before chow…Then our day begins. We go to drill (that’s marching), then physical training. I laugh. Talk about easy, man. Football practice makes this place look like a girls club, really. Then we go to lunch. After that, we have classes the rest of the day. We go to supper, then mail call, and the rest of the day is ours.
 
“There’s only one hang up. The roughest part is the mental part. They bring you down here, scare the heck out of you, and threaten to set you back in your training to the first day. They also throw a bunch of rules and regulations on you. But if you keep your nose clean, do exactly what you’re told to do when you’re told to do it, and no more, you’ll be all right. Seriously, I’m beginning to like it more and more. Well, I’ve got to go, so I’ll be seeing you. Take it easy, Son. P.S. Don’t worry, I can always find time to write my best friend, OK.” Sonny was very successful in everything he put his mind to do, especially at being my best friend. Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man with many friends may be harmed, but there is a friend who is closer than a brother.” Always cherish your friends and family for time is short no matter how much time you have.

God created you. He loves you. But you’re not automatically His child. You become a child of God by putting your faith in Jesus Christ.
 
The Bible says, “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12 NLT).
 
Let’s say that I’m holding a gift in my hands, and I offer it to you. You reach out and say, “Thanks, Greg. I’ll accept that gift from you.”
 
God is offering you the gift of eternal life, but you have to reach out and accept it. You’re not born with it; you have to accept and receive it. And when you do that, you become a child of God.
 
Would you like to experience the blessings of God that the Bible talks about? Would you like to know the peace in your heart that the Bible promises? The Lord is very clear: He wants to bless us. But the blessings of the Bible are only for those who have put their faith in Christ. Why? Because Christ took the curse.
 
Galatians 3:13 tells us, “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing” (NLT).
 
Jesus was cursed so we could be blessed. Jesus died so we could live. He was forsaken so we could be forgiven.
 
So the choice is yours. Do you want to face the curse of your sin, the repercussions of your evil actions? Or, do you want the blessing of God in your life?
 
God said, “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” (Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT).
 
He wants to come into your life. He’s just a prayer away.
