When we talk about the Iranian-backed ring of fire that surrounds Israel on all sides, we focus oftentimes on Gaza and Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Lebanon is frequently discussed, which is Hezbollah’s main power base that is exchanging daily fire, even deadly fire, with Israel. We also have the Houthis in Yemen, harassing shipping in the Red Sea, and very active Iranian-backed Shia militias in Iraq causing havoc, in particular, against US targets. But many times, it seems that Syria is left out of the equation in the larger conversation. Well, folks, let me tell you, Syria remains a very active front. Israel has carried out hundreds, if not more, airstrikes in Syria over the past several years, striking Iranian-backed targets in the region. The Assad regime and the Syrian army are an avowed ally of the Iranian regime. Iran is in Syria, with the red carpet treatment. And by the way, Iran is here to stay. They’re not going anywhere—unless they are forcibly pushed out. Syria is still formally in a state of war with Israel and has been for decades. It should come as no surprise that the Syrian military and Israel sometimes exchanged pretty heavy blows, and that has apparently happened again overnight. Syria, or a terror group operating with the full cooperation of the Syrian Army, launched rockets from the Daraa region into the Israeli Golan Heights. While this has happened many times, since October 7, we’ve seen an uptick in escalation. The Israel Defense Forces responded, striking targets around the Daraa region at Syrian Army positions. I’ve been along the Israel-Syria border many times and can tell you it is (surprise, surprise) very tense. In particular, Daraa is very close to Israel’s Golan Heights. Over the years, Israel has had to neutralize terrorist forces on numerous occasions. The Syrian army, most of the time over the past few years, have cried and gnashed their teeth when Israel has struck their positions, but they have not responded in any meaningful way. But what does it mean prophetically, as Israel and Syria continue to go toe to toe? Many times, people mention Isaiah 17 and Damascus, the Syrian capital. Isaiah 17 lays out that the day is coming when Damascus, which is arguably the world’s oldest continuously inhabited city, will one day become “a ruinous heap” and “cease to be a city” (Isaiah 17:1). Folks, every time Israel and Syria go toe to toe, you have to consider the prophetic undertone, and the most recent strike is no different. Iran and Hezbollah continue to operate on Syrian soil in league with the Assad regime. You can expect the situation in Syria to remain very tense. Oh, and by the way, Russia is there as well—talk about prophetic implications! Russia, I believe, is the major player in the Gog and Magog war of Ezekiel 38-39, and they already have a presence in Syria. A Plot To ‘Impose’ A Palestinian State Upon Israel? The prophetic chess pieces are moving on the board, and one of them may be the United States and the world—Western Europe, the UN, the EU—all banding together and unilaterally declaring a Palestinian state with no Israeli say in the matter. Yesterday on my Watchmen Newscast, I reported that Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron said exactly that, insisting that they may get together with their European counterparts and formally recognize a Palestinian state. The EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell went even further a few weeks ago, saying that the international community may need to “impose” a Palestinian State upon Israel, whether they like it or not. I previously stated I would not be surprised if the Biden Administration eventually comes on board with this initiative. Lo and behold, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is considering doing just that when the Gaza war ends, according to reports out of the region. When that will be, we have no idea. When the dust settles from Gaza. Blinken has reportedly spoken to his team at the State Department and urged that they explore this possibility. How would that look if we were to tell Israel, “We, the United States and Europe, are simply recognizing a Palestinian State whether you like it or not? And oh, by the way, we will take some sovereign Israeli land as well as part of that deal.” Even though Israel is a sovereign nation, it’s being dictated to. It’s very frustrating to observe. Consider all this talk regarding a Palestinian state. There’s no viable peace partner on the other side. Hamas? Come on! It’s a vicious Iranian-backed genocidal terror group that Israel is at war with right now. Then you have the PA’s President Mahmoud Abbas, a Holocaust denier, and the Palestinian Authority, which pays the salaries of terrorists. A few years ago, I interviewed my good friend Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch about how the Palestinian Authority literally brainwashes its people, including children from the youngest ages, to hate Israel and the Jewish people. Itamar Marcus: Killing Israelis is not a Hamas problem. It is a mainstream Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, problem. It is the fundamental reason why we don’t have peace, and it’s the fundamental reason why we continue to have terror. Erick Stakelbeck: A lot of people, when they think of Palestinian terror, think of the Gaza terror state run by Hamas, but this is a Palestinian Authority thing, through and through, as you just laid out. Talk about the culture. It comes from the top. Talk a little bit more about the indoctrination of young children. We know their schools are named after terrorists. From the time children can walk, they’re indoctrinated in this glorification of terror and rampant anti-semitism. Itamar Marcus: The glorification of terror is the last stage. What you have to have in the beginning is the demonization and anti-semitism so that Jews and Israelis are worthy of the terror. We have children’s programs that we’ve seen on official Palestinian TV, owned and controlled by Muhammad Abbas, and have heard children recite a poem that has the words, “They are the most evil among creations, barbaric monkeys and wretched pigs” [refering to the Jewish people]. You see sweet, beautiful children on TV, and you can’t believe the words that are coming out of their mouths. We [have seen] seven children recite a poem in the last few years with the words, “Our enemy Zion is Satan. Satan with a tail.” The Palestinian Authority pushes vicious anti-Israel propaganda. This is the entity that the West, apparently, wants to prop up and lead this Palestinian state that they would like to impose upon Israel. Zechariah 12:3, 9 KJV – “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it… And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.“ The prophetic chess pieces are clearly moving on the board. Fasten your seat belt. Keep it all in prayer. Prayer works, and God, even amid all the madness, is still on the throne. Do not forget it. Palestinian Terrorists, Hospitals, and Plans for Palestinian State - by Bassam Tawil - https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/20360/palestinian-hospitals The Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital is one of several medical facilities in the West Bank city of Jenin, which is under the exclusive control of the Palestinian Authority (PA). As such, the hospital operates in accordance with a license from the PA's Ministry of Health. On January 30, Israeli security forces found and killed three Palestinian terrorists who were hiding inside the hospital. A statement issued by the Iran-backed Hamas group identified the three terrorists as Mohammed Walid Jalamneh and brothers Mohammed and Basel al-Ghazawi. Al-Jalamneh was described as a commander of Hamas's armed wing, the Izaddin al-Qassam Brigades, while the two brothers were labeled by Palestinians as mujahideen (holy warriors) belonging to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another Iran-backed Palestinian terrorist proxy group. The three terrorists did not come to the hospital to receive medical treatment or visit patients. In reality, they had been hiding inside the hospital for several weeks because they knew that Israeli security forces were searching for them. The Israelis were not searching for them because they had failed to pay their electricity or water bills. According to Israeli authorities, the terrorists were planning an attack against Israelis inspired by Hamas's massacre on October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 people were murdered, beheaded, raped, mutilated and burned alive. Jalamneh, the slain leader of the terror cell, was previously wounded while preparing a car bomb attack. He had been in contact with Hamas officials abroad, presumably in Qatar, Lebanon and Turkey, and provided weapons to other terrorists for shooting attacks against Israelis. Jalamneh had also served as a spokesman for the Izaddin al-Qassam Brigades in the Jenin area, and had often appeared in military uniform and a mask to read out statements by his group. The presence of the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad gunmen inside the hospital did not surprise those who have been following and documenting the Palestinian terrorist groups' use of hospitals as safe shelters and bases for their activities. Since the beginning of the current Israel-Hamas war, it has been confirmed that hospitals are Hamas's preferred central sites for terrorist activities. The terror infrastructure in the hospitals is meant to ensure optimal protection for the terrorists during times of war, by taking advantage of Israel's commitment to the laws of armed conflict and avoidance of carrying out significant strikes on hospitals and other locations such as schools and mosques, which are protected under the Geneva Conventions (unless they are used for military purposes; then, they are no longer protected). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have documented a consistent and systematic method of operation by the terrorist groups: Above ground, on the floors of the hospitals themselves, alongside the normal wards that exist in every hospital, the terrorist organizations store weapons and military equipment. Among the weapons found in the hospitals were hand grenades, explosive devices, and RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades). Senior Hamas terrorists stay in hospitals during times of war, even using Intensive Care Unit wards where they are disguised as "patients" or medical staff. In the basements of the hospitals, on the underground floors, next to offices, are exits connecting to underground operational infrastructure and Hamas command and control centers, communication infrastructure and technological equipment. Beneath hospital complexes in Gaza is an underground network of terrorist tunnels leading from hospitals to nearby terrorist bases. On the premises of hospitals, the IDF has discovered vehicles loaded with weapons, including at Gaza's Shifa Hospital, as well as operational tunnels under the hospitals designed to ambush IDF soldiers. In addition, Hamas has deliberately embedded terrorist infrastructure near the hospitals with the understanding that Israel would try to avoid targeting these locations as that could be portrayed as a strike on the hospitals themselves. Ahmad Kahalot, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, has admitted that Hamas has turned hospitals into military facilities under its control. During an Israel Security Agency interrogation, Kahalot revealed how Hamas uses hospitals for military purposes, including storing weapons, hiding its operatives, and moving members of Hamas. Hamas, he said, even brought a captured soldier to the hospital. Kahalot, who was arrested on December 12, 2023, said he has been part of Hamas since 2010. "I was recruited to Hamas in 2010 with the rank of Brigadier General," he revealed. "There are employees in the hospital who are military operatives of the Izaddin al-Qassam Brigades -- doctors, nurses, paramedics, clerks, and staff members." According to Kahalot, Hamas members hide in hospitals, which they realize are "protected." "They hide in hospitals because for them a hospital is a safe place. They won't be targeted when they are inside a hospital," he said. "I know 16 employees in the hospital – doctors, nurses, paramedics, or clerks... who also have different positions in al-Qassam." What is surprising and disappointing is that many in the international community and media, including the World Health Organization (WHO), continue to ignore -- or even deny or cover for -- the actions of the terrorists in the hospitals. During a recent session with WHO's executive board, Israeli ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar said that Hamas "embeds itself in hospitals." In "every single hospital that the IDF searched in Gaza, it found evidence of Hamas's military use," she remarked. "These are undeniable facts that WHO chooses to ignore time and time again. This is not incompetence; it is collusion." In Jenin, the terrorists found shelter inside a hospital under the administration of the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health. It is safe to assume that many of the staff, including the administration at Jenin's Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital, were aware of the presence of the gunmen in one of the patient rooms. What did hospital administrators and doctors do to remove the terrorists from the hospital? Nothing. What did the PA Ministry of Health do to make sure that the terrorists were expelled from the hospital? Nothing. The PA, undoubtedly aware of the presence of the terrorists inside the hospital, has multiple security and intelligence agencies in Jenin; they are known for their tight grip on the city. Did the PA government order its security officers to remove the terrorists from the hospital out of concern for the safety of the medical staff and the patients? No. Instead of condemning Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad for turning the hospital into a safe haven for terrorists and using it as a base to plan another massacre of Israelis, the PA was quick to condemn Israel for eliminating the gunmen who, by the way, belong to two groups opposed to the Palestinian Authority. PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, on a tall-tale-binge, accused Israeli security forces of "storming hospitals and carrying out field executions of patients, while intimidating other patients and the doctors." Instead of thanking the Israeli security forces for getting rid of the terrorists who were holed up inside the hospital, Tawfik al-Shoubaki, director of Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital, also denounced the security raid as a "dangerous precedent." Wissam Subeihat, director of healthcare services in Jenin for the PA Ministry of Health, condemned the killing of the terrorists as a "crime" and called on international organizations to "hold Israel accountable." Subeihat also claimed, falsely, that the Israeli soldiers assaulted medical staff during the raid. In light of the aversion of the PA, its ministry of health, and its security forces to expelling the three terrorists from the Jenin hospital, the US administration's plan for bringing the PA back to the Gaza Strip to replace Hamas and create a Palestinian state seems more than foolhardy. In addition, a Palestinian state without Israel's consent would be a massive violation of the Oslo Accords. The nonstop actions, or rather inactions, of the PA serve as further evidence that, contrary to what the US administration believes, the PA cannot be "revitalized." The PA has never acted as a peace partner to Israel. Instead, it has constantly incited its people against Israel and Jews by denying Jewish religious links to Israel, to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, all the while accusing Jews of "defiling" Islamic holy sites and waging a diplomatic and legal warfare to delegitimize and isolate Israel in the international community. The PA indisputably has no intention of changing its policy of glorifying and financially rewarding terrorists. PA leaders continue to praise terrorists as "heroes" and refuse to halt their policy of paying monthly stipends to Palestinians who murder Jews. The incident in Jenin is further proof – more is hardly needed – that the PA cannot be trusted to enforce law and order or rein in terrorists in the Gaza Strip, were there to be a state. The PA, in its current location in the West Bank, does nothing to stop Hamas and other terrorists from pursuing their activities to murder Jews and obliterate Israel. It begins with the following vacuous but revealing words: “This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. In its introductory statement we see that Agenda 2030 “seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom.” What does this impoverished and cliché-centered sentence even mean? A co-worker who had managed to get out of communist Romania years ago told me that it was horribly oppressive under communism because there was no freedom of choice regarding one’s job, housing, education, varieties of consumer products, etc. But, he added that one could walk through a park at night without any fear of being robbed. If the ex-Romanian’s statement is true, and I believe it is, then it would seem that “peace” at least regarding crime was enhanced by less freedom, not more. Under Adolf Hitler, Germans experienced less of the destruction of their buying power (which is a partial measure of freedom) caused by inflation under Weimar, but at the expense of putting the country on a war footing and mobilizing to murder millions of Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, and political dissidents. Agenda 2030 states its goal is to eradicate poverty and to also take on “extreme poverty.” The UN’s list of impoverished nations includes 45 countries, only one of which — Haiti — is not located in Africa or Asia. Their poverty is stated to be the “greatest global challenge.” But what if the greatest global challenge threatening humanity is actually the attempt by the UN, globalists, communists and Islamists to destroy Western Civilization — and the Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of that civilization? The tribalism and fragmentation of cultures in Asia and Africa is more extensive than in the West. That is partially why the global fanatics behind UN Agenda 2030 are trying to reproduce tribalism and disunity into the U.S. and European countries — with out-of-control immigration from Asia and Africa and, in the case of the U.S., from Central and South America. Jesus Christ said “the poor you will always have with you.” (Mark 14: 7) This was not said to disparage the poor in any way, nor to take away from helping the poor, but to point out that following and serving God was not to be equated in a one-to-one way with helping the poor. There is more to the virtuous life than caring for the poor. Caring for the needs of the less fortunate is important but only part of a virtuous, Godly life. That is an eternal truth. The UN is, therefore, not only putting too much emphasis upon the Third World poor, but its agenda is corrupt and false and will not better the life of the poor — as it claims is its goal. Agenda 2030 stresses the “tyranny of poverty,” but what does it have to say about the corrupt leaders of those 45 countries who are practically stealing food and water out of the mouths of their own people? These tyrants are only too glad to come with delegations from their impoverished countries to enjoy the amenities of living in New York City with cocktail parties, hors d’oeuvres, modern toilets, refrigerators, and convenient public transportation and taxis. Is it possible that Agenda 2030 is actually just an expression of the greed and mendacity of less developed countries’ leaders who are seeking to feed their greed? Even more than they do already with the UN’s and the West’s largesse in providing “support” via the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank? The world as a whole — along with the U.S. — is becoming increasingly authoritarian even as the authority of parents, teachers and criminal law is declining. The following are 8 signs that demonstrate how truly bizarre our society is becoming… #1 Facial recognition technology is now being implemented on a widespread basis. For example, the official TSA website is openly admitting that the TSA is starting to use facial scanning technology at airports nationwide… TSA introduced facial recognition technology into the screening process at select airports. The facial recognition technology represents a significant security enhancement and improves traveler convenience. A traveler may voluntarily agree to use their face to verify their identity during the screening process by presenting their physical identification or passport. The facial recognition technology TSA uses helps ensure the person standing at the checkpoint is the same person pictured on the identification document (ID) credential. Photos are not stored or saved after a positive ID match has been made, except in a limited testing environment for evaluation of the effectiveness of the technology. The agency is using second-generation Credential Authentication Technology (CAT-2) scanners as travelers enter the screening process. This technology assists Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) in verifying the authenticity of a traveler’s ID credential, as well as their flight status and vetting status. TSOs must direct all passengers to the proper lane, either TSA PreCheck® screening, standard screening, or enhanced screening. The CAT-2 units are currently deployed at nearly 30 airports nationwide, and will expand to the more than 400 federalized airports over the coming years. #2 The elite want to make national borders meaningless, and that is quickly becoming the case. So many people from foreign countries have moved into the Twin Cities area in Minnesota that authorities are being forced to put up signs explaining that peeing, pooping and rape are not allowed while riding public transportation… Peeing and pooping while riding on Metro Transit vehicles falls under the “illegal” category, according to the signs. “Transit property is not a public restroom,” the new rules read. They also explain to riders that sexual assault is illegal. “Sexual contact without consent is forbidden,” the rules state. #3 Do you remember Michael Cassidy? He was the guy that beheaded the statue of Satan at the Iowa Capitol, and now he is being charged with a hate crime… Michael Cassidy has been charged with a hate crime for beheading a statue of Satan at the Iowa Capitol. Cassidy drove up to Iowa after the Satanic display was erected in the state capitol and took it down. He will be arraigned on February 15. Polk County prosecutors charged Cassidy with felony third-degree criminal mischief, saying that he acted “in violation of individual rights” under Iowa’s hate crime statue, the Des Moines Register reports. #4 In Montana, one family just had their 14-year-old daughter permanently taken away from them because they wouldn’t allow her to transition to a different gender… A Montana mom and dad who lost custody of their daughter after they refused to transition her gender have told DailyMail.com the ordeal ‘has torn their family apart.’ Krista Kolstad revealed the family’s nightmare began when they received a call that their 14-year-old daughter Jennifer told friends at school that she wanted to commit suicide in August 2023. Later that night, Child Protective Services (CPS) went to the Kolstad’s home in Glasgow to inspect the house and interview Jennifer, later determining that she needed to transition to get better. Republican Governor Greg Gianforte was confronted about this case, and he is actually defending the decision. #5 Sticking with Montana, it is being reported that a “bioagent superlab” in the state is doing experiments with “Ebola, Lassa fever, Nipah, and even the plague”… DISTRESSING new images show animals being infected with deadly pathogens at a US lab with ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Photos and footage obtained by watchdog White Coat Waste show scientists at the Rocky Mountain Lab sedating monkeys and pigs – and carrying out experiments with deadly viruses. White Coat Waste has described the lab as a “bioagent superlab” that infects animals with highly contagious and deadly diseases – such as Ebola, Lassa fever, Nipah, and even the plague. #6 During a Senate hearing on Wednesday, Ted Cruz asked Mark Zuckerberg why Instagram users are given the option to “see results anyway” when attempting to pull up images of child sexual abuse… He then held a blown-up screenshot of an Instagram prompt that asks users if they want to ‘get resources’ or ‘see results anyway’ when browsing harmful images. The warning read ‘these results may contain images of child sexual abuse’, with an explanation underneath. ‘You gave users two choices: “Get resources or see results anyway”,’ Cruz said, speaking directly to the Meta founder. ‘Mr. Zuckerberg, what the hell were you thinking?’, barely pausing long enough for the Meta founder to respond. #7 We have been warned for a long time that a cashless society is coming, but now we have reached a point where thousands of businesses all over the United States have already gone cashless… Aaron Bateman pulled out a few $20 bills to pay for a taco lunch in the nation’s capital. To his surprise, his money was no good in the city where money is printed. Surfside, a popular 24-hour Mexican eatery, doesn’t take cash. No cash means no register for robbers to empty out, no bills for workers to slip into their pockets and no change counting holding up lines. The global cashless movement has reached Washington, where a growing number of fast-casual and other establishments are saying no to greenbacks in favor of plastic and mobile payments. Sweetgreen, the national salad chain, went cashless in most of its locations last year. If research studies continue to look promising, devices like these could one day be a “game changer” for people with limited motor function, experts told ABC News. Neuralink says its goal is to help people living with debilitating conditions, including paralysis, communicate and control external devices with their thoughts. The patient who received the implant is “recovering well,” Musk said in a post on X Tuesday. What do all of these eight things have in common? Each one of them shows that the agenda of the elite is rapidly advancing. We are living in a society that they are designing for their twisted purposes and that represents their twisted values. The good news is that we live at a time when all of their plans and programs will soon come crashing down. Daily Jot: Believe the CDC at your own risk - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Despite hundreds of research papers to the contrary, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) maintains on its website that “COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and free. Everyone 6 months and older can get an updated COVID-19 vaccine.” The CDC is promoting loading up everyone from aged six month and older with multiple doses of COVID-19 serum, claiming that people who are up to date on their COVID-19 shots “have lower risk of illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19.” According to multiple studies, however, those up to date with COVID-19 shots could die not only from COVID-19, but also heart disease such as myocarditis, pericarditis, stroke, blood clots and other complications. A great piece of investigative reporting by Epoch Times’ Zachary Stieber revealed that CDC lied to the public with the whole “safe and effective” propaganda, and also withheld critical information from the public that may have changed their minds about taking the mRNA shots. Stieber writes: “The nation’s top public health agency did not send an alert on COVID-19 vaccines and heart inflammation because officials were concerned they would cause panic… The alert would have been sent through the CDC’s Health Alert System (HAN) network, which goes to state and local officials, as well as doctors, across the country. The alert was never sent.” Stieber writes that a CDC official explained in an email, exclusively obtained by The Epoch Times, ““The pros and cons of an official HAN are what the main discussion are right now,” Dr. Sara Oliver, the official, wrote in the missive. “I think it’s likely to be a HAN since that is CDC’s primary method of communications to clinicians and public health departments, but people don’t want to appear alarmist either.”Dr. Oliver was corresponding with an employee of either Pfizer or Moderna. The employee’s name and email were redacted in the copy obtained by The Epoch Times. Dr. Oliver did not respond to a request for comment. Asked about the email, the CDC did not deny address Dr. Oliver’s statement.” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WS), ranking Republican on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, told The Epoch Times in an email, “CDC’s apparent decision to not immediately issue a formal alert to clinicians warning them about the increased risk of myocarditis and pericarditis in vaccinated individuals is not only inexcusable, it’s malpractice.” Stieber has documented what Doctors during the pandemic were saying all along, that the CDC was not truthful about the safety or effectiveness of the mRNA shots. Sadly, CDC remains unwilling to admit the safety risks of the shots and encourages the public to give their young children multiple doses. God had promised Caleb that he would enter the Promised Land. But in the meantime, he had to put up with all the whining, griping, and complaining of his fellow Israelites. Caleb was there when they complained about the manna God had provided and cried out for meat like they had in Egypt. He was there when they rebelled against Moses. And he had to put up with all of it. Yet Caleb believed that God was going to keep His promise. He was able to fully follow the Lord and finish well because he took God at His word. And after years of waiting and resisting the temptation to follow the crowd, Caleb was ready to receive his award. At eighty-five years old, he said, “I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then” (Joshua 14:11 NLT). Some of the young guys of Israel probably laughed at this point. What was this eighty-five-year-old man going to be doing? But Caleb was still strong. Though his outward man was perishing, his inward man had been renewed day by day (see 2 Corinthians 4:16). He had maintained a first-love relationship with God, and as a result, he maintained his first strength. We see the practical results of this inner strength demonstrated in Joshua 15: “So Caleb was given the town of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), which had been named after Anak’s ancestor. Caleb drove out the three groups of Anakites—the descendants of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the sons of Anak” (verses 13–14 NLT). Here, we discover that of all the people who received an inheritance in the land, only Caleb completely drove out the enemy. And he faced some of the most formidable foes in the entire land. Caleb had specifically asked for Hebron. This was no garden spot. It was a rugged, treacherous area with a powerful enemy stronghold guarded by the strongest men. This was no easy duty for Caleb. Being an older guy, he could have asked for a nice, comfortable plot of land where there were no enemies to drive out. But he asked for one of the toughest assignments. And then he drove out his enemies. Maybe, just maybe, there was another motive for Caleb’s wanting Hebron. The Bible tells us that in Hebron, God spoke with Abraham face to face and gave him the promise of the land in the first place. The very name Hebron is descriptive, meaning “fellowship, love, and communion.” This was the place that Caleb longed for—and ultimately received. While others longed for Egypt, Caleb longed for Hebron. While others looked back, Caleb looked forward. While others wanted to please themselves, Caleb wanted to please God. He stood on the promises of God. We need to do the same. We need to remember that God will keep His promises.
