The Widespread Passion To Divide Jerusalem Demonstrates The Nearness Of The Tribulation – By Jonathan Brentner - https://harbingersdaily.com/the-widespread-passion-to-divide-jerusalem-demonstrates-the-nearness-of-the-tribulation/
Even though he wrote The Late Great Planet Earth over fifty years ago, Hal Lindsey remains a leading voice in the realm of biblical prophecy. In a recent article of his, “Recognizing ‘Palestine’ as a State in the Aftermath of Oct. 7 Would Reward the Worst Kind of Evil,” Lindsey correctly ties any near-term recognition of a Palestinian state as a prize for terrorism in the following paragraphs: The idea is that the United States would make this move soon after Israel’s campaign in Gaza ends — and US pressure to end the campaign is already enormous. Hamas would then be able to say to every terror group in the world, “Here’s how you get the really big concessions. Kill, mutilate, rape, burn people to death, and take lots of innocents as hostages.” To recognize a state of Palestine in the aftermath of their October terror attacks on Israel would encourage every rogue group on earth to follow that wicked path. It would bring chaos to this planet, the likes of which have never been seen before! The determination of America and other nations to reward the murderous brutality of Hamas in such a way by dividing the Land of Israel demonstrates the nearness of the seven-year Tribulation. I say this for a couple of reasons. The Warnings of Scripture Point to the Current Determination for Divide Israel Long ago, Israel’s prophets wrote about the determination to divide Israel in the latter days. The Lord spoke these words to the prophet Joel: Joel 3:2 KJV – “I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.” The current determination to divide the Land of Israel will continue, resulting in God’s final judgment of the nations at the end of the Tribulation. Since we already see such widespread passion for this, how close must we be to the Day of the Lord? The prophet Zechariah wrote about a future time when the nations of the world would become consumed with the future Jerusalem (12:1-5). This prophecy is coming to life in our time. Do any UN members seek to give away a part of any other capital city in the world? Of course not. But just as the Lord predicted long ago through Zechariah, this would happen to Jerusalem in the last days. Does this not point to our soon disappearance followed by this time of wrath upon the earth? (1 Thessalonians 5:1-10). The sad news is that the world’s preoccupation with Jerusalem will lead to much suffering for the Israelites. The good news is that it will cause a remnant to recognize Jesus as their Messiah by the end of the seven-year Tribulation (Zechariah 12:10-13:9). Israel’s Covenant with Death Lurks in the Future The Bible tells us that the clock will start ticking on the seven-year Tribulation when Israel agrees to a peace covenant with the Antichrist (Daniel 9:27). Isaiah describes this future agreement as “a covenant with death” (Isaiah 28:14-18). Do we see any stage setting for this in the aftermath of all that’s transpired regarding Israel since October 7, 2023? Absolutely. However, it will be a more long-term result of current events. As Hal Lindsey points out in his article, the Biden administration’s proposal for a two-state solution rewards barbarism, murder, and rape of innocent people. Benjamin Netanyahu will not agree to any such plan now or in the near future. He recently turned down a Hamas proposal to end the war in Gaza. However, several factors seem likely to weaken the current resolve of Israel’s leaders in the future. Israel’s ongoing war on many fronts, the likelihood of a much deadlier encounter with Hezbollah, and the obtaining of a nuclear bomb by Iran are likely to continue for many months or longer. We can expect that the nonstop threats to the nation’s existence will, at some point, make its leaders vulnerable to an offer of peace. What if someone suddenly appears on the world scene who seems both able and willing to guarantee a time of peace for the nation? What if this coming “man of lawlessness” sweetens the deal by including the construction of the Jewish third temple on the Temple Mount? I believe such factors will cause Israel’s leaders to come to terms with the “covenant of death” offered by the antichrist. Although this seems out of the realm of possibility in the near future, events could, and will, rapidly progress to this point after the Rapture of the Church. The Rapture is a signless event that could happen at any moment. It’s the nearness of the Tribulation that leads to our awareness that it could happen very soon since the New Testament assures us that our disappearance will happen before Israel inks the “covenant of death” with the antichrist. Prayers of the Apocalypse - by Greg Morse - https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/prayers-of-the-apocalypse As the Author reads the final sentences of this world’s story, as the final sheep steps into the fold, as the last martyr’s blood spills to the ground, we hear heaven suddenly swell — with silence. The hallelujahs halt. As a “darkness to be felt” stretched over the land of Egypt (Exodus 10:21), now a silence to be felt stretches over heaven itself. The burning ones bite their tongues from screaming “Holy, holy, holy!” Saints momentarily quiet their songs about the crucified Lamb. The apostle John reports “silence in heaven for about half an hour” (Revelation 8:1). Heaven, that place of highest praise, sinks into the solemn stillness of an army on the eve of battle. As all quiets onstage, trumpets are distributed to seven archangels, and the spotlight shines on a priestly angel (possibly the Lord Jesus himself), who wades through silence to stand at an altar with a golden censer and much incense. He is to burn the incense before the throne. He performs what the Old Testament priests once did in the temple, when the gathered people went silent, and the fragrant smell of burning incense rose into heaven. But what cloud of aromas now rises before the Lord? Incense from the golden bowls, the prayers of the saints (Revelation 5:8). At the end of this world, heaven quiets itself to solemnize the prayers of God’s people, rising as worship before God. John writes, “And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel” (Revelation 8:4). And for what do these prayers plead? In one word: justice. Appeals of the Apocalypse The hushed scene picks up from the intermission of chapter 6, where John sees the ascended Lamb break the seven seals one by one. The breaking of the first four seals unleashes different horsemen, who bring violence, famine, and sickness (Revelation 6:2–6). Hades gallops close behind (verses 7–8). Saints are slaughtered during this period of broken seals. At the breaking of the fifth seal, John sees their host, “under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne” (Revelation 6:9). In silence, overhear the theme of their prayer: They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (Revelation 6:10) “Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been” (Revelation 6:11). That moment arrives in chapter 8. Silence to hear solemn appeals of murdered saints now crying out for God to avenge their blood. Commentator Grant Osborne strikes the vital note: “The silence in heaven is an expectant hush awaiting the action of God, but that is not to be just an outpouring of wrath but God’s answer to the imprecatory prayers of the saints (6:9–11 recapitulated in 8:3–4). Thus there is worship (the golden censer with incense) behind the justice” (Revelation, 339). The scent of worship will soon rise from the wrath. God’s sentence against the impenitent persecutors is not just a response to sin’s penalty, but to his saint’s prayers. Before this volcano, mouths do not open, eyes do not shut. How does God respond? Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake. (Revelation 8:5) Fire falling, thunder crashing, rumblings, lightning lashing, earth quaking — “Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling” (Zechariah 2:13). And so begins the final judgment, for verse 5, writes G.K. Beale, “is to be interpreted as the final judgment, not as some trial preliminary to that judgment” (Revelation: A Shorter Commentary, 169). Prayers to End the World Again, God’s wrath against the impenitent is not just a response to sin’s penalty, but a response to his saint’s prayers. His children’s pleadings escort that judgment, beckon it forth. “The utterly astonishing thing about this text,” comments John Piper, is that it portrays the prayers of the saints as the instrument God uses to usher in the end of the world with great divine judgments. It pictures the prayers of the saints accumulating on the altar before the throne of God until the appointed time when they are taken up like fire from the altar and thrown upon the earth to bring about the consummation of God’s kingdom. (The Prayers of the Saints and the End of the World) Do we find this astonishing? Are we more prone to interrogate (rather than to appreciate) such prayers? “Do our prayers,” asks Beale, “come out of a sacrificial life, or do we come asking God only to throw us life-preservers to rescue us from our own foolishness? The prayers of the saints as pictured there focus on the holiness and truthfulness of God and a desire for that to be manifested in the execution of his justice. Are our prayers directed toward obtaining benefit for ourselves or glory for God?” (168). Sheltered from much persecution, the sweetness of this incense has not yet pleased me as deeply as it might. It hasn’t needed to. Egypt’s whips have not struck my wife’s back. Pharoah has not tossed my children into the Nile. The unjust judge has not yet denied me a hearing. Romans 12:19 hasn’t met any existential crisis: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’” But it has for many saints who have been more profoundly inflicted by injustice and scarred by sin. Hesitations about imprecatory prayers, especially in the West, often expose (among other things) a lack of sympathy with our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world and throughout history. Venerating His Vengeance Whether you and I can relate circumstantially to these prayers for justice, such judgments have their place in our worship. The first thing we see Israel doing after deliverance from Egypt is gathering at the Red Sea, tears of gratitude flowing down their cheeks, voices joining in song to praise God for saving them by sinking their foes like a stone (Exodus 15:5). Saints of old could see the crushing of their enemies as God’s covenant love for them: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever . . . to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for his steadfast love endures forever; . . . to him who divided the Red Sea in two, for his steadfast love endures forever; and made Israel pass through the midst of it, for his steadfast love endures forever; but overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea, for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1, 10, 13–15) The psalmist can’t finish sentences detailing God’s righteous judgments without inserting praise for God’s love to his people displayed in the same act. Thus, after the prayed-for judgment falls at the end of time, we hear the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants. (Revelation 19:1–2) Thy Kingdom Come When the priestly angel reaches into his golden bowl, will he find our prayer there? While many of us may not often have prayed for God’s retribution to fall upon the wicked, Jesus teaches us to fill up that bowl in the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10). Martin Luther once taught us that this is to place all that opposes our God’s dominion into a pile and pray: “Curses, maledictions, and disgrace upon every other name and every other kingdom. May they be ruined and torn apart, and may all their schemes and wisdom and plans run aground” (Luther’s Works [1956], 21:101). “Thy kingdom come” is the positive way of praying, “Destroy every other kingdom that resists your will or stands in your way.” Or as Piper exults, What we have in Revelation 8:1–5 is an explanation of what has happened to the millions upon millions of prayers over the last 2,000 years as the saints have cried out again and again, ‘Thy kingdom come. Thy kingdom come.’ Not one of these prayers, prayed in faith, has been ignored. Not one is lost or forgotten. Not one has been ineffectual or pointless. They all have been gathering on the altar before the throne of God. We pray for God’s dominion, a dominion that will overthrow all others. We pray for King Jesus to return, knowing judgment must come with his heaven (Revelation 1:7). We desire God’s righteous justice to be satisfied — at the cross or in hell. And we desire most of all that our Savior come so that the dwelling place of God is again with man — thy kingdom come! Not one of our prayers for Christ to come, to bring his kingdom, and to make all our deepest wrongs right will be lost. They are gathered in a bowl, soon to be burned as incense before the throne and scattered as fire upon our enemies. Some of us stare at the skies, joining that solemn silence, groaning for justice, and aching for home. He will not disappoint. He will not delay a moment longer than his Father determines. As we wait, we close the distance and assault the interval with one beautiful weapon: prayer. Come, Lord Jesus! DOWNLOAD THE PROPHECY UPDATE APP Prophecy Update Videos Must Watch Videos! It is a statement by the ascended Lord Jesus Christ to John, the disciple Jesus called “beloved.” I believe there is a singular word to describe the reason for the Rapture. We will, I hope, get to both the Scripture passage and the word that I believe answer the question “Why the Rapture?”. First, we need, for those not familiar with the term “Rapture” to provide a definition. The word “rapture” isn’t expressed as that term in the Bible, at least not in the English versions. It is given in the Latin Vulgate, however, as rapturo—translated from the Greek language in which the New Testament was mostly written. The Greek word for the great snatching away (being “caught up”) is harpazo, and it eventually became called the “Rapture” by most in the English-speaking world. It is the “twinkling of an eye” moment the Apostle Paul prophesied will take place at some unknown time, a time only God the Father knows. Here is the Scripture passage encompassing that stupendous event: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16–18) So, what is the purpose of this event Paul tells believers to “comfort” ourselves in, considering that it will take place at some unknown instant? Certainly, the great apostle spent much writing time telling of this call of Christ into the clouds of glory. Read 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-55, for example. Paul, himself, looked for this event to happen during his time on earth. He preached and taught, assuring the believers in Thessalonica that this event hadn’t yet occurred—because many of them feared it had happened and they had missed it somehow. Paul went to great lengths to explain the truth of the Rapture—the harpazo. (Read 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.) So, again, why the Rapture? To be given so much ink by the most prolific writer of the New Testament, and by one of God’s most prominent prophets, the Rapture must have monumental significance. The Rapture is indeed one of the most significant events that will play out in human history. This is because it is a rescue from the most horrific time in all of human history. Jesus, the Creator of all things, said the time to come will be the worst to ever occur, even until His return at Armageddon (Revelation 19:11). Here, again, is what the Lord said of that ultimately evil time that is about, at this very moment, to burst upon a judgment-bound world. For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:21) God is about to pour His righteous judgment and wrath upon a world of rebels–those who have totally turned their backs on Him. Planet earth is about to endure the global warming and climate change–and, much worse, the wicked Ephesians 6:12 sorts are constantly and falsely declaring. The Lord of Heaven–Creator of all that is—is about to demonstrate who is in total charge. He is a righteous God and cannot allow the rebellion to continue beyond the point He has determined. But “righteous” is the key word here. God is righteous. And His righteous judgment and wrath are not for those who are righteous, but for those who are unrighteous. Now to get to the Scripture and the word promised at the beginning of this article. The Scripture that encapsulates the reason for the Rapture in one verse is the following: Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. (Revelation 3:10) Jesus’ words of comfort were to all believers in Him for salvation down through the ages, as well as for the church at Philadelphia. It is a promise to keep all believers of the Church Age (Age of Grace) out of the Great Tribulation He told of in Revelation 24: 21. And that brings us to the single word that encapsulates that salvation. It is the word “righteous.” All who are righteous will be kept from the Tribulation. This is because God the Father sees all who have believed in His Son Jesus for salvation as being “in Christ.” That is, all born again are seen through God’s holy eyes as being covered by the precious, holy blood of the Savior, Jesus Christ. This means that we who accept Jesus as Savior are clothed in the righteousness of the Son of God, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, in order to bring all who will accept His sacrifice to redemption and reconciliation with God the Father. To miss accepting this truth is to die in sin and go to the lake of fire, or to go through that horrific time called the Tribulation, if still alive when it begins. To accept God’s free, grace offer of salvation is to go to the Savior, Jesus, when He calls, as the Apostle Paul has prophesied. The Rapture is to spare you terrible anguish and separation from God forever. Here is how to make sure you go in the Rapture, and to Heaven–and not into eternal torment. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9–10) Security in A Dangerous World - By Hal Lindsey - https://www.hallindsey.com/ww-2-11-2024/ Things are going wrong all over the world. Civilization itself seems on the verge of a terrible implosion. Economies are held together with bailing wire and spit. The UN and most nations tend to reward warmongers, while attacking those who resist military aggression. In a time of nuclear proliferation, our leaders keep choosing policies that encourage belligerence. It is only by the grace of God that an ungrateful world continues its balancing act on the edge of a terrible abyss. But as the world rejects God, it also rejects His grace and His help. Without major changes, time is short. Meanwhile, it gets more dangerous every day to go to the grocery store or drive down the street. Tidal waves of drugs and drunkenness engulf the nations. Pestilences plague the world. Lies and fake news now permeate once trusted institutions. Churches that ignore these things or fail to sound the alarm, neglect their duty to those they are called to serve. Meanwhile, some other churches and Christian organizations make the opposite error. Instead of looking for the coming of Christ, they diligently search for Antichrist. They focus on evil. Dark conspiracies have become their stock in trade. They act as if their job is to make Christians depressed, distressed, and afraid. The signs of the times should focus our attention on Jesus. That’s why we need to be aware of them and let Him help us understand them. In Matthew 16:2-3, Jesus chided the Pharisees and Sadducees because they understood signs in the weather, but not signs of the times. It is for good reason that the Bible gives detailed information about the times leading up to the Lord’s return. But signs only give part of the picture. The key to it all is Jesus. He should be our focus, especially in an era of chaos. 1 Corinthians 14:33 tells us that “God is not the author of confusion.” The Greek word here translated as confusion means disorder and chaos. But Jesus is our Rock, our unchanging home even as bedlam overtakes the world. Our hope as Christians has always rested in Him alone and not in the world system. But the world’s present instability should remind us of the One who remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. We find our stability in Him. I’m not saying to disengage with our neighbors in the world. The Bible admonishes us to be good citizens. And in a republic, citizens comprise the ultimate governing authority. We must discharge those duties with diligence and care, especially when it comes time to vote. We need to be informed and involved. Sadly, many have taken this to unwarranted extremes. They started by simply pulling for their guy in an election. Nothing wrong with that. But some then became so absorbed in the world system that they began to place their hope in political messiahs. This leads to inner turmoil, anger, and fear. Many live in constant dread of the next election. Remember Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith.” He has never let you down. He never will. Romans 8 lists terrible difficulties Christians sometimes encounter. Verse 37 then proclaims, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Daily Jot: The WHO WEF X fear factor - Part 1 - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com The World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have teamed up to bring you, at least virtually, the next lockdown, vaccine-mandating, fear-mongering pandemic. They call it Disease X. On January 17, WEF gave center stage at its Davos, Switzerland meeting the WHO directory general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in an effort to convince the champions of globalism buy into the WHO global pandemic treaty. The treaty would give WHO control over how disease outbreaks are handled with COVID as the model. On January 19, WHO posted a white paper research response to pathogen X during a pandemic. These people are preparing for a disease that doesn’t exist. The WHO white paper said WHO has implemented a comprehensive global research strategy and preparedness plan known as the WHO R&D Blueprint for Epidemics, “which ensures research efforts are concentrated on diseases with epidemic or pandemic potential where medical countermeasures and limited or non-existent…Around 200+ scientists from 53 countries are independently evaluating the evidence related to 30 viral families, one core group of bacteria, and “Pathogen X” – an unknown pathogen with the potential to trigger a severe global epidemic. This new approach will also help identify representative viruses (or prototypes) within a viral family as a pathfinder in generating evidence and filling knowledge gaps that may then apply to other viruses of threat in the same family.” Founder of Truth for Health Foundation, Dr. Lee Vliet, interprets the WHO/WEF as “predictable fear-mongering broadcasting the WHO/WEF/UN cabal’s continued assault on the health, freedom, and very lives of people around the world. Although WEF and WHO clearly say this new disease is “hypothetical and unknown” that supposedly can cause TWENTY TIMES more deaths than coronavirus, they are inexplicably preparing “Counter-measures” and “vaccines” for this very hypothetical, unknown disease. How can anyone create treatments of any kind for an unknown disease? How can anyone predict “20 times more deaths” for an unknown disease? Clearly in their diabolical arrogance, they think the public is so stupid that we cannot see through this charade and deception.” Dr. Vliet concludes: “Anyone with common sense can understand this is a repeat of the “COVID Pandemic” playbook designed to use fear and terror as tactics for submission to the global predators’ tightening vise of tyranny.” Vliet’s assessment is common sense. These very wise and educated people cannot predict the next pandemic, unless they are creating it. Meantime, they can get nations to agree to a certain framework that, like COVID, take away your freedom and like the COVID serum, cause great harm and even death to those who take it. Ephesians 4:14 exhorts, “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” Deception is their game. Fear is their science. Daily Devotion: Why God Created Us - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them. —Isaiah 43:7 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/why-god-created-us/ - Listen What is the purpose of our lives? Why do we exist? Why are we here on this earth? According to the Bible, we exist primarily to bring pleasure to God. Speaking through the prophet Isaiah, God said, “Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them” (Isaiah 43:7 NLT). That thought really bothers some people. They like to think that the world revolves around them. The result is they will end up squandering their lives in pursuit of something they never should have been seeking outright, and that something is happiness. If you want to be an unhappy person, then try to be a happy person. In other words, if you try to find happiness by pursuing it, you never will attain it. God predestined us to bring Him glory. That is a foundational truth that we all need to lay hold of. To miss this is to miss the reason that we’re on this earth in the first place. The Bible says, “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure” (Ephesians 1:4–5 NLT). This is also echoed in Heaven. We read in Revelation 4 about twenty-four elders who fall in worship before the Lord on His throne, saying, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased” (verse 11 NLT). Let that sink in for a moment. The twenty-four elders are saying to God, “You created everything, and it’s for Your pleasure that they exist and were created.” God didn’t create us for our own pleasure; He created us for His pleasure. He created us to glorify Him. When people try to find happiness in someone or something, it always will be a little bit beyond their reach, a little bit elusive, a little bit hard to get. They think it will be in that next relationship, that next experience, that next possession, or that next accomplishment. Those who live this way don’t care what it costs. They don’t care about rules and regulations. Happiness is the main priority of their lives. But they never will find it. Here’s the good news for us as Christians. When we seek to fulfill the purpose for which God created us—which is to glorify Him, honor Him, and bring Him pleasure—then we will find happiness. It will come not from seeking it but from seeking Him. As the psalmist David wrote, “Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 144:15 NLT). We must never lose sight of the simple truth that we were created to glorify God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else." 2 Corinthians 9:10-13 If you have been blessed by Prophecy Update and would like to help support this ministry financially.
