Biblical Morality Is a Necessity For Freedom… And Americans Have Known It For Centuries – By David Reagan - https://harbingersdaily.com/biblical-morality-is-a-necessity-for-freedom-and-americans-have-known-it-for-centuries/ Does America’s freedom and liberty last only as long as its morality? In addition to establishing a representative republic with all sorts of checks and balances to protect against the biblically defined evil nature of Man, our Founding Fathers repeatedly expressed the belief that Christian morality was absolutely essential for both the preservation of liberty and the stability of law. They emphasized this crucial point in their writings over and over again: Consider, for example, Samuel Adams who served as Governor of Massachusetts, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and was the organizer of the Boston Tea Party. He wrote: “A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when they lose their virtue they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader. Religion and good morals are the only solid foundations of public liberty and happiness.” The first governor of Virginia was Patrick Henry. He also served as member of the Continental Congress. He explained the significance of religion in these words: “The great pillars of all government and of social life are virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor… and this alone, that renders us invincible.” The most significant of all our Founding Fathers was, of course, George Washington. He served as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army, overseer of the Constitutional Convention, and first President of the United States. He wrote these words: “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports… in vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.” Another member of the Continental Congress was John Adams. He was one of the drafters of the Declaration of Independence, and he served as the second President of the United States. Here are his strong and eloquent words concerning the necessity of religion. He wrote: “We have no government armed in power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion… Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Thomas Jefferson was the renowned author of the Declaration of Independence. Additionally, he served as Governor of Virginia, he was our first Secretary of State, and he was our third President. He wrote: “No nation has ever yet existed or been governed without religion. Nor can be. The Christian religion is the best religion that has ever been given to man, and I as Chief Magistrate of this nation am bound to give it the sanction of my example.” James Madison was a political philosopher who is considered to be the “Father of the Constitution” and the “Father of the Bill of Rights.” Madison served as a member of the House of Representatives and as our nation’s fourth President. Here’s what he had to say about the essentiality of religion to a government of freedom and liberty: “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” Emphasized Throughout Our History The concept of the inalienable interdependence of constitutional order and Christian virtue was not just a characteristic of our Founding Fathers. It has continued to be emphasized throughout our history. Take Noah Webster for example. He is considered the “Father of American Education.” He was the publisher of The American Dictionary of the English Language in 1828. And concerning the importance of Christianity, he wrote these words: “In my view, the Christian Religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed… no truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian Religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.” John Quincy Adams was the sixth President of the United States. He also served as an American diplomat, and as a member of the House and Senate. On the occasion of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, he declared: “The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” Daniel Webster served as a United States Senator from Massachusetts and as Secretary of State. Here are his words concerning Christianity and government: “No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people. To preserve the government we must also preserve morals. Morality rests on religion; if you destroy the foundation, the superstructure must fall. When the public mind becomes vitiated and corrupt, laws are a nullity and constitutions are waste paper.” William McGuffey was an American educator and author of the McGuffey’s Reader, first published in 1836. He observed: “The Christian religion is the religion of our country. From it are derived our prevalent notions of the character of God, the great moral governor of the universe. On its doctrines are founded the peculiarities of our free institutions.” In 1838 the New York State Legislature declared: “This is a Christian nation. Ninety-nine hundredths, if not a larger proportion, of our whole population, believe in the general doctrines of the Christian religion. Our government depends… on that virtue that has its foundation in the morality of the Christian religion.” In 1892 in the case of United States vs. Church of the Holy Trinity, the Supreme Court of the United States expressed these words: “No purpose of action against religion can be imputed to any legislation, state or national, because this is a religious people. This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation. We are a Christian people, and the morality of the country is deeply engrafted upon Christianity.” Calvin Coolidge served as Governor of Massachusetts and Vice President of the United States before he was elected to serve as our 30th President. He was known as “Silent Cal” because he seldom expressed himself about anything. But he had some [insightful] words about the importance of the Christian faith to the continuing existence of our nation, he wrote, “The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country.” In 1931 The United States Supreme Court, in the case of United States v. McIntosh, made this proclamation: “We are a Christian people, according to one another the equal right of religious freedom, and acknowledging with reverence the duty of obedience to the will of God.” Peter Marshall was a Scottish-American, a preacher, who served as pastor of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C., he is often referred to as “The Church of the Presidents,” Peter Marshall also served as Chaplain of the United States Senate. In a prayer offered before the Senate in 1947 he said: “May it be ever understood that our liberty is under God and can be found nowhere else… We were born that way, as the only nation on earth that came into being for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.” Earl Warren served as Governor of California and was the 14th Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. In a Time magazine interview conducted in February of 1954, shortly after President Eisenhower had appointed him as Chief Justice, he made this observation about our Christian heritage, he said, “I believe no one can read the history of our country without realizing that the Good Book and the spirit of the Savior have from the beginning been our guiding geniuses… I believe the entire Bill of Rights came into being because of the knowledge our forefathers had of the Bible and their belief in it. I like to believe we are living today in the spirit of the Christian religion. I like also to believe that as long as we do so, no great harm can come to our country.” Dwight Eisenhower served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe during World War II. He also served two terms as our 34th President. He made this observation about the relationship between religion and government: “Without God there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first and the most basic expression of Americanism.” Ronald Reagan, our 40th President, expressed a similar sentiment when he proclaimed: “America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are “One Nation under God,” then we will be a Nation gone under.” Well as you can see from the survey of expressions concerning our nation’s Christian heritage, that heritage has been recognized and lauded by our leaders from the beginning until the latter part of the 20th Century. It has only been in recent years that this important heritage has been denied and disparaged. A Foreigner’s Perspective Even foreigners who visited the country recognized the significance of our Christian heritage. Take, for example, the French historian, Alexis de Tocqueville who visited the United States in the early 1830’s. In 1835 he published the first of a two volume study of this nation, titled, Democracy in America. He revealed that the intertwining of Christianity with government was very surprising to him. He wrote these words, “Upon my arrival in the United States, the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there, the more did I perceive the great political consequences resulting from this state of things, to which I was unaccustomed. In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom pursuing courses diametrically opposed to each other; but in America I found that they were intimately united, and that they reigned in common over the same country. The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other.” Is America still a Christian nation? Although 85% of Americans identify themselves as Christians, only about 9% at the most would claim to be born-again, Evangelical Christians. This means that most Americans are simply professing Christians, or cultural Christians. But this sad fact does not negate the historical evidence that our Founding Fathers established this nation on Christian principles and that those principles still serve as the basis of our constitutional structure and our laws. The problem, of course, is that those with [a progressive] viewpoint are determined to cut America loose from its Judeo-Christian foundation. They have a classic European-style Humanist worldview that despises Christianity and Capitalism, and the result is that freedom is endangered. We are speeding toward a secular, pagan society devoid of values that contribute to virtue and civility. And if this transition continues unabated, our system of government will not be able to survive, for it is based upon the assumption of a citizenry that is endowed with biblical truths. We need to pray for our nation as never before. We need to pray that the schemes of the secularists will be frustrated, confused, and defeated. Pope’s Defection – A Key End Times Signal – Terry James - https://terryjamesprophecyline.com/2024/02/19/popes-defection-a-key-end-times-signal/ Christendom is a word I view as designed by secularists of the world to encompass their misunderstood view of what comprises True Christianity. Under this misunderstanding, all who claim to be Christians are, according to this worldly definition, Christians. All fall under the term Christendom. There are many sects, faiths, and religious systems that the secularists include within their favored term to encapsulate, to one degree or the other, religious belief in and spiritual embrace of the figure called Jesus Christ. These are each and every one false. In my own view of what it means to be a Christian, there is but one system of faith. There is no other person, method, or anything else that can make a person a Christian. That Faith system, the Bible –God’s Word—tells us that Jesus Christ alone is the Savior of mankind. The person is a Christian who accepts without question what Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me” (John 14:6). There is nothing that stands between God and the human being other than Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten (born in the flesh) Son. It is with this Truth from God’s Word –the Bible—that I must somewhat qualify, or perhaps explain, the title of this article. Pope’s defection – a key end times signal The Catholic system of belief –of which there are several versions—often is separated by those commentating on the Catholic faith as differing from mere Christianity. This is, presumably, because those devotees to that system consider their Catholic Church as the only True Church to the exclusion of others that left as part of the Reformation and since have divided into multiple factions of Protestantism. Catholicism says there are layers of mediators between God and mankind, i.e., one must confess to a priest, who might take the confession to the Mother of God (Mary), who, again, presumably might take the confession to the Son (Jesus) Who then, presumably takes the confession and obtains the forgiveness necessary from God the Father. At least, this is my –a neophyte in comprehension of the Catholic system— cursory understanding of how the Catholic system of mediation works. I cannot even begin to accept this for many reasons, but to name just one reason, I offer this Truth from God’s Holy Word. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim 2:5). Now, I write all of the above in order to try to explain how the Catholic pope –Pope Francis—has “defected” and why this “defection” is a key end times signal. My belief in Christ alone for salvation precludes my counting the pope as within Christianity, but rather under the Christendom umbrella posited by the secularists, as I’ve tried to show above. So, when I say that Pope Francis has “defected,” I don’t mean that he has, in my view, defected from the True Christian Faith. In my view, because of the Catholic Church’s declaration that there are a number of mediators between God and Man (as just one reason in this regard), this pope –or any other pope—can’t defect from a faith system under which they’ve never been. This said, this pope, Pope Francis, has defected from that faith system –Catholicism—which has in common with True Christianity the belief that God finds homosexuality to be an egregious sin of an abominable sort. This agreement between the True Christian Faith and the Catholic faith does point starkly to the defection that this pope champions. The following helps make understandable the end times apostasy at this late hour of the Church Age (Age of Grace). Pope Francis is now accusing opponents of priestly gay-couple blessings of being hypocrites when, in fact, his blessing of homosexual relations and calling it good is hypocrisy. According to Francis, all the holy popes, bishops, and saints of Church history were hypocrites because they denied blessings to gay couples and barred them from the Church. In a recent interview, Francis expressed his strongest words thus far concerning his decision to bless homosexual couples. He told NBC: “Nobody gets scandalized if I give my blessings to a businessman who perhaps *exploits people, and this is a very grave sin. But they get scandalized if I give them to a homosexual, Pope Francis, via ‘Credere.’ This is Hypocrisy.” This is a highly inappropriate comparison and reflects an obstinate attempt to continue his blessing of homosexual unions. His argument holds no water. Comparing a businessman to a homosexual makes as much sense as comparing a carpenter to a rapist. A carpenter, by definition, is a responsible working man, whereas a homosexual, by definition, is a sex offender on the path to perdition. Businessmen generally are responsible people working to support their families, unlike homosexuals whose criminal lives “cry to heaven for vengeance.” If a businessman comes to a priest for a blessing, it means he truly wants this blessing for his soul and for success in his work, so the priest should bless him. And while he might commit some sins or faults in his work, that’s not a reason to deny him a blessing. “A just man shall fall seven times” (Proverbs 24:16) and then rises. Whereas, if a homosexual couple comes to a priest for a blessing, it’s because they want their shameful relationship blessed. Were it otherwise, they wouldn’t dare to approach the priest ‘holding hands’ together. They want their gay union blessed, so Francis blesses it because he is a gay sympathizer. He is blessing their homosexual aspirations, not their souls, thereby working their eternal ruin, and then he calls it “good.” That is hypocrisy! Source: Francis: Opponents of Clerical Gay Couple Blessings are ‘Hypocrites,’ by David Martin, Canada Free Press, February 8, 2024] My writing of late has been on the likeness of our present time to being like that of Lot’s day in Sodom. This pope and his declarations –the latest being on the matter of sodomy and his opposition to his Catholic faith system, highlight, I think, just how near is that moment when Jesus foretold He will next be “revealed” and God’s judgment would fall on a Sodom and Gomorrah-like people. There are today pronounced instances of falling away within major denominations from the True Faith found in God’s Holy Word. Homosexuality is at the heart of much of this defection. This “defection” by this pope from his own false system also smacks of Paul’s forewarning found in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 about the falling away (the apostasy) that will occur just before Antichrist comes onto the scene following the Rapture of the True Church –all born-again believers. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” (2 Thes 2:3). Despite God’s dire forewarning about those who fall under what He calls the abomination of homosexuality, He desires to forgive and bring into His family all who repent and believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, for salvation. And I must say here that those who are Catholics who believe in Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their souls are “in Christ” forever. But they are saved in spite of, not because of, their Catholicism. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Here is how to receive God’s Forgiveness and be part of God’s Heavenly Family forever. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10). DOWNLOAD THE PROPHECY UPDATE APP Prophecy Update Videos Must Watch Videos! On top of dealing with classic teenage drama like homework, hormones, pimples, parents, driving, dating, university selection, and more, students these days have to contend with a host of new challenges. They suffered long periods of brutal Covid lockdowns. Active shooter drills are a normal part of student life. And, of course, there's the nonstop anxiety and peer pressure of social media. Plus, on top of everything else, students today have also been force-fed some pretty bizarre ideas. Classical literature, advanced mathematics, and hard sciences have taken a back seat to social justice, climate justice, economic justice, etc. (as defined by the woke, fanatical left). But there are early signs that this indoctrination is starting to break new ground. Yesterday a close friend of mine who lives in Spain told me that his son, a high school senior, has been getting lessons in school about Central Bank Digital Currencies, or CBDCs. If you're not familiar with the concept, a CBDC is essentially a cryptocurrency that is controlled by the government and central bank. And so far, at least half a dozen CBDCs have been rolled out around the world, including in Russia, China, and India. Now, governments already have the means to track you and monitor your finances. They can force financial institutions and credit card issuers to turn over your entire financial history. They can order banks and brokerage firms to freeze your assets. And if you remember what happened in Canada during the 'Freedom Convoy' protests, Justin Trudeau Castro used his 'emergency powers' cut the protestors off from the financial system. They had no access to their bank accounts, ATMs, or even crowdfunding platforms. Governments already have the power to do all of these things. But CBDCs take this power to a much higher level... because there's no more middleman. Government authorities wouldn't have to bother going to banks, brokerages, and credit card companies; they could simply deactivate your funds with a mouse click. Have fun trying to buy groceries. Now, even though only a handful of CBDCs have been rolled out around the world, there are over 100 central banks that are developing their own CBDCs. And that includes both the United States and the European Union. My friend's son (again, a high school senior in Spain) explained that his teachers are absolutely gushing over the idea of CBDCs. In a class which covers banking, mortgages, and the financial system, they're telling the kids that, probably within a year, the new 'digital euro' will be rolled out. And eventually it will become mandatory. Cash will cease to exist, and all money will be registered with the European Central Bank. Europe's army of bureaucrats will know what's happening, in real time, to every single euro in existence. And there will be no way of getting around it. Financial privacy will be a thing of the past. The teachers expressed utter joy about this, and the curriculum seems designed to get the kids excited about it too. They say the digital euro represents incredible progress, and that it will make life easier and simpler. Businesses will be able to collect payments more easily. You'll be able to spend everywhere directly from your phone, and maybe cut out the need for credit cards or even traditional bank accounts. They also say that CBDCs will be an effective way to control money laundering, criminal activity, and terrorist financing. That's why, they explain to the students, the EU has already begun to crack-down on cash and crypto transactions over €1,000. According to my friend's son, most students in his class appear pretty excited about CBDCs. Hardly anyone seems fazed by the loss of privacy or increased government authority over their lives. But intelligent people--including my friend and his son-- clearly see where this is going. We've already seen people lose their jobs and be canceled off the Internet for wrong think. We've seen people frozen out of their bank accounts for standing up for their rights. Frankly, the brutal use of the Prime Minister's emergency powers against the Freedom Convoy protestors in Canada should have served as a giant wake-up call: if you hold your life's savings in the financial system of your home country, you're already taking an unnecessary risk. And that's regardless of what happens with CBDCs. This means that having some savings outside of the financial system is a completely sensible idea. And fortunately, there are plenty of easy ways to do this, including liquid assets like physical gold and silver, cryptocurrency, and cash. It's hard to imagine there's any downside for having direct access to some emergency savings. Independent, thinking people ought to understand where this trend may lead... and more importantly, to take rational steps to minimize the consequences in advance. ‘Come, Lord Jesus’: If You Serve Christ You Will Long For His Return – By Skip Heitzig - https://harbingersdaily.com/come-lord-jesus-if-you-serve-christ-you-will-long-for-his-return/ If I took a poll asking how many of you are longing for the second coming of Jesus, I think it would be unanimous. It is the event that all history has been moving toward, the grand finale at the end of the seven-year tribulation. This event was predicted as far back as the garden of Eden when God said the Seed of the woman would crush the head of the Serpent, Satan (see Genesis 3:15). In Revelation 19:10 and 22:9, when John knelt before an angel, he was rebuked and instructed to worship God. All I can ascertain is that John was so amped up by all the visions he was being shown that he was ready to go face down. But look at Revelation 22:20. Jesus said, “Surely I am coming quickly.” John wrote, “Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” He got it right in the end. The second coming has always produced a longing in the hearts of God’s people. In the twelfth century, a Jewish rabbi named Maimonides wrote thirteen principles of faith. One was a prayer that every orthodox, pious Jew prays to this day: “I believe with complete faith in the coming of the Messiah, and even though He tarry, yet I will wait for Him every coming day.” We know that Christ has already come—and that He’s coming back. Jesus told us to pray a very similar prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10). That’s a prayer for His coming. Some of the greatest songs of the church express that longing. “How Great Thou Art” proclaims, “When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” includes these lyrics: “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.” Charles Wesley wrote this one: “Come, Thou long expected Jesus…born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring.” My point is that when John said, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus,” he was voicing a longing that we all have as believers. We long for Jesus to get the worship He deserves as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (see Revelation 19:16). The anthem of heaven is “worthy is the Lamb” (Revelation 5:12). So if Jesus is your Lord and King, then you’ll echo John’s prayer, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Now, many people are happy with their earthly home. They think this is all there is. But they still have a longing in their hearts for something more. Well, there is more—and it’s so much better. It will get you through this life. Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions [or, rooms]; if it were not so, I would have told you” (John 14:2). Living on this earth is like living in a little dinky room. What you really want is the Father’s house. That’s why you were made. God put that longing in you. The Bible says that God “has put eternity in [our] hearts” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). That’s what you want. It’s the only thing that will satisfy you. What the world has always longed for and what Jesus said to pray for—”Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”—hasn’t been answered yet. It will be answered on that day when Jesus returns. Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: Bayer official sponsor of your heart - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Twelve seconds into a montage of play by play announcing accompanied by visuals of fans with agony on their faces, the words “Heart attack risk can more than double when your home team plays.” This is followed by another 11 seconds of a montage of sports fans’ faces changing out against the backdrop of intense sports calls with an increasing heartbeat sound in the background. Then a final heartbeat sound and a blank screen with white letters “Keep your heart in the game” and then “checkyourheartrisks.com” underscored with a slow heartbeat, tagged by an announcer saying “Bayer Aspirin Official Sponsor of Fan’s Hearts.” That’s the commercial that Bayer thinks is a fan friendly education for all. The press release Bayer put out reads: “In recognition of American Heart Month, Bayer is continuing its ongoing commitment to elevating awareness and education about heart health and risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S. for men and women and continues to increase, due in part to the often-invisible risk factors — 1 in 5 heart attacks occur with no recognizable signs or warning. But stress, like the heart-pounding moments fans may experience while watching their favorite teams play, can play a role in their cardiovascular risk, especially when other pre-existing risk factors are present. In fact, heart attack risk can more than double when your home team plays.” “It doesn’t matter what sport, league, or team you cheer for every fan has experienced heart-pounding moments when watching their team play,” said Kelly Fanning, General Manager & Vice President of Pain and Cardio at Bayer Consumer Health U.S. “While that feeling may seem trivial, the stress that comes from those heart-pounding moments, along with other risk factors, may increase your cardiovascular risk. As a leader in heart health, we wanted to find an impactful new way to reach and educate people who may be at increased cardiovascular risk without even realizing it. By kicking off American Heart Month with our new role as Official Sponsor of Fans’ Hearts, we’re tapping into a relatable moment and encouraging fans to assess their cardiovascular risk factors and take action so they can Keep Their Hearts in the Game.” Clever for Bayer. We all should be aware of our heart health. But to do such a self-serving release as an “Official Sponsor of Your Heart” is a bit presumptive. It also appears that a pharma company is once again overreaching by fear-mongering to the point where we are not supposed to even enjoy a sporting event without fear of killing ourselves. Take a Bayer aspirin, watch the game, and live, really? If they get even one percent of the tens of millions of people that root for their favorite teams from youth to pro, whatever the sport, think of how much money Bayer will make. Psalm 73:26 says, “My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my hear, and my portion forever.” Not Bayer (sounds like Ba’al), but God is the sponsor of my heart. Anything less is, say it with me…Stupidocrisy. Daily Devotion: Because of God’s Grace - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. —Ephesians 2:8 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/because-of-gods-grace/ - Listen Christians have no grounds whatsoever for boasting. There is nothing to boast about. We didn’t become Christians because we were born into a Christian family, were relatively moral people, or did a number of good deeds. Therefore, we have absolutely nothing we can take credit for. And if we find ourselves bragging about anything that we have done to obtain our salvation, either we are not saved, or we don’t understand what it means for God to forgive us. In Ephesians 2, the apostle Paul makes a bedrock statement about the Christian faith: “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” (verses 8–9 NLT). This is a foundational Christian doctrine. Yet it’s surprising how many people don’t grasp the simple yet profound truth that we are Christians entirely and solely because of the grace of God. Earlier in Ephesians, Paul spoke of God’s mercy. Here, He speaks of God’s grace. God has dealt with us in grace, which is getting what we don’t deserve: His forgiveness, His pardon, and adoption into His family. Someone has accurately defined grace as “God’s unmerited favor.” This grace came in spite of what we were and what we did. Grace is getting what we don’t deserve. Mercy is not getting what we do deserve. And justice is getting what we deserve. We never want to ask God to give us justice because, in doing so, we’re asking Him to give us what we deserve. And what we deserve is Hell. Thankfully, God has not dealt with us according to justice because Jesus Christ met God’s righteous requirement at Calvary. The death of Jesus satisfied the justice of God. An effective testimony (your story of how you came to faith) always will glorify God and never will glorify the past. Some Christians make their lives before Christ sound so juicy and interesting that they make the present seem dull. That is an inaccurate testimony. If you are honest about what you were before you became a Christian, then you must talk about the spiritual state you were in. You were separated from God and in rebellion against Him. A good testimony never will glorify the past; it always will glorify the Lord. Every Christian has a testimony because the power of God has gloriously transformed every person who has put his or her faith in Jesus Christ. It’s important to realize that salvation does not come from anything that we’ve done. So, let’s not boast about what we’ve done or what we gave up to follow Jesus. Granted, we may have given up some things, but they’re nothing compared to what God gave us in their place. If we don’t realize that, then we don’t know how dark our state was, how miserable of a condition we were in, and how far we were separated from God. What on earth are you doing for Heaven's Sake? "Share in the Blessings and Rewards that will last Forever!" "Folks, it's all beginning to unravel. America is in more danger of falling than at any time in its history. But I believe Bible prophecy predicts this very decline. From this point on, we believers have to get serious. We are going to face discouragement, disillusionment and, most certainly, persecution in the time between now and the Rapture. But don't be discouraged or disillusioned. The coming turmoil will provide us unrivaled opportunities to share the good news of the Gospel. So be ready to share your faith and your hope with those who need Christ. We still have time to reap a great harvest of souls for God's kingdom!" - Hal Lindsey 1) We need your prayers!- We proclaim the Truth of the Word of God and we are under constant spiritual and sometimes even physical attack. 2) We need your encouragement!- We need to hear from you, let us know how the Lord is blessing you through this ministry so that we can share it with others. 3) We need your input! - If you have a prophetic article or story or if there is a news related item we missed, let us know. 4) We need your financial support!- To put it quite simply, without your support, there would be no Prophecy Update. Our Prayer for You- "Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else." 2 Corinthians 9:10-13 If you have been blessed by Prophecy Update and would like to help support this ministry financially.
