What Will Israel Do Now? - by Michael Snyder - https://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/what-will-israel-do-now/ I have been sitting here trying to figure out what to write about what we just witnessed. Just like October 7th, the shocking attack on Israel that just took place altered the course of history. This was the first time that Iran ever attacked Israel directly, and I was flooded with emails by readers that were concerned about World War III. So now that the Iranian attack is over, what will Israel do now? That is the big question. If Israel directly attacks Iran, the Iranians will inevitably respond and the conflict could spiral out of control. But if the Israelis do not strike back, they will look weak and the Iranians could feel like they will be able to get away with similar things in the future. Overall, the Iranians sent more than 300 drones and missiles toward Israeli territory… Two Israeli officials told the New York Times that Iran launched 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles as part of the unprecedented attack on Israel. According to the sources, “most of the launches were carried out from Iranian territory, while a small portion of them came from Iraq and Yemen.” Besides the U.S, Britain and Jordan also helped Israel intercept the launches. The good news is that the U.S. military and the IDF were able to shoot down 99 percent of them… At 7:15 am IDF Spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari said that 99% of the aerial threats were shot down, which he said was a strategic achievement. That was very good news, and in the end very little damage was done… He said virtually all of the weapons were intercepted before entering Israeli territory and he reported only minor damage to one military base from the few ballistic missiles that did land in the country. Hagari confirmed that a 10-year-old girl had been “severely injured by shrapnel,” but said “as far as we know, there are no additional casualties.” The Iranians are trying to frame this strike as a victory, but the truth is that it was a huge defeat. So that gives Israel options. If a tremendous amount of damage had been done inside Israel, the Israeli government would have felt a need to respond very forcefully. But since the Iranian attack was such a failure, that gives Israel the option of simply walking away. In the immediate aftermath of the attack, that is what Joe Biden was encouraging Israel to do… President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US will not support any counterattack against Iran, sources have revealed. Biden spoke with Netanyahu in a late-night phone call after Iran bombarded Israel with hundreds of missiles and drones on Saturday in response to a drone strike in Syria that killed 12 Iranians, including two top generals. A senior White House official told Axios that Biden made it clear to Netanyahu that US forces would not participate in any further operations. Netanyahu said he understood. Biden reportedly told the Israeli Prime Minister: ‘You got a win. Take the win’, amid fears amongst White House officials that an Iran attack will lead to a greater war in the region. Of course if someone sent more than 300 drones and missiles at U.S. cities, Biden would be singing a much different tune. In that case, the U.S. military would already be pounding whoever dared to launch such an attack. And it appears that Israel was ready to hit Iran really hard right away, but the conversation with Biden apparently persuaded Netanyahu to call off an attack for now… US President Joe Biden dissuaded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from greenlighting an immediate retaliatory strike against Iran after it launched around 300 attack drones and missiles at Israel last night, the New York Times reports. According to the report, several members of Israel’s war cabinet had been in favor of launching a response attack, but the lack of serious damage caused by Iran, in addition to Netanyahu’s conversation with Biden, led to it being called off. This doesn’t mean that there will be no Israeli response. The Israeli war cabinet was scheduled to meet on Sunday, and I am sure that they were discussing their options. The UN Security Council also met on Sunday, although it wasn’t expected to do much of anything… The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting Sunday over Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel, the body’s president said. A spokesperson for Malta, which holds the rotating presidency this month, told the press Saturday evening that the Security Council was aiming for the meeting to be held at 4:00 p.m. (11 p.m. Israel time) Sunday after Israel requested the council condemn Iran’s attack and designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. The wealthy western countries do not approve of what Iran has done, but they are desperate to keep a major war from erupting in the region. In particular, Joe Biden knows that a major war in the Middle East would be very bad for his chances in November. So a tremendous amount of pressure will be put on Israel to stand down. And Iran has already warned that it will hit Israel again with even greater force if Israel strikes Iranian territory… Tehran has warned it will strike again with greater force if Israel or the US retaliate for the Iranian strike on Israel that used more than 300 drones and missiles on Saturday night. The air raids, the country’s first ever direct attack on the Israeli state, brought a years-long shadow war into the open and threatened to draw the region into a broader conflagration as Israel said it was considering its response. If missiles start flying back and forth, events could quickly spiral out of control. But Israel has always believed in responding with force when it is attacked. And I believe that there will eventually be a response. Some are calling for Israel to strike Iran’s nuclear program. If there was ever a golden opportunity to do that, it would be now. We shall just have to wait and see what happens. Even though it is uncertain whether or not Israel will directly strike Iran, on Sunday the IDF was conducting “retaliatory strikes” in southern Lebanon… In a series of retaliatory strikes, Israel has intensified its attacks on southern Lebanon, targeting several areas overnight and in the early morning hours. The escalating violence has raised concerns of a broader conflict in the region. In one case, a building that was a “significant weapons manufacturing site” was completely destroyed… A source within Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah group said Israel struck one of its buildings close to the Syrian border today, as tensions soared after Iran directly attacked Israel. The source told news agency AFP: ‘The Israeli strike targeted an area… near Baalbek and targeted a two-storey building belonging to Hezbollah,’ adding that there were no casualties reported. Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency also reported that ‘an enemy air strike targeted a building’ in the village of Nabi Sheet and ‘destroyed it’. The IDF later confirmed the strike on the ‘significant weapons manufacturing site’ in the Nabi Sheet area. So Israel is already hitting back. But striking Iran directly would be an extremely bold move. An all-out war with Iran could easily take an apocalyptic turn, and both sides realize this. We really are in uncharted territory, and it won’t take much to push events over the edge. BIG - By Daymond Duck - https://www.raptureready.com/2024/04/13/big-by-daymond-duck/ It seems like Bible prophecy teachers are using the word “big” more and more lately. “Big,” not as in considerable size, huge, giant, titanic, humongous, etc. “Big” as in extremely important, major, consequential, incredibly significant, etc.
This is the point: we are witnessing an undeniable big-time convergence of Bible prophecies that are extremely important. Here are some recent reports that seem to indicate that the end of the age is close. One, concerning another pandemic and a global population reduction: on Mar. 29, 2024, one of the world’s leading virologists predicted that a ‘massive tsunami’ of ‘chaos’ and ‘death’ is about to decimate the global Covid mRNA-vaccinated population.” He predicted that there will be a ‘huge, huge wave’ of illness and deaths in the coming weeks (perhaps before the next U.S. election so it can be used to impact the outcome and protect the criminals that pushed mRNA vaccinations on the world) among those vaccinated for Covid. I cannot prove that this virologist is right, but if it happens, it will be big. Two, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: it has been reported that Iran sent a message to the U.S. through the Sultanate of Oman that the Islamic Republic intends to directly strike Israel unless the U.S. guarantees an immediate permanent ceasefire in Gaza and no Israeli ground invasion of Rafah. On Apr. 3, 2024, Israel responded by calling up its reserve forces and canceling the leave of all combat units. Israel’s Defense Minister said, “We are not seeking war with Lebanon (Iran’s proxy), and I can tell you that such a war will be a difficult challenge for Israel, but it would be catastrophic for Hezbollah and for Lebanon, not least for Beirut and the south.” It is estimated that Iran has helped Hezbollah acquire about 200,000 rockets and missiles. Without a doubt, the damage to Israel will be great, but the damage to Hezbollah and possibly Iran will be significantly worse. (More: On Apr. 5, 2024, Israel temporarily closed 28 of its embassies and consulates due to Iranian threats.) (More: On Apr. 8, 2024, Israeli jets targeted a village in Lebanon and eliminated a Hezbollah field commander.) Three, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on Apr. 3, 2024, Erick Stakelbeck (The Watchman Newscast) reported that Russia has acknowledged that it has built three military observation posts in Syria this year on Syria’s border with Israel. Russia appears to have built these military observation posts to monitor Israel’s activities in Syria. This is big because the Bible teaches that Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others will attack Israel in the latter years and latter days; God will destroy their armies; it will take 7 months to bury the dead and 7 years to burn the weapons (Ezek. 38-39). When they attack Israel in the latter years and latter days, it will be a clear sign that history has reached the very end of the latter days. Four, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on Apr, 9, 2024, an article in The Times of Israel states that Israel is preparing (conducting Air Force drills) to strike Iran’s nuclear plants if faced with a retaliatory attack for the death of an Iranian commander. Here is a link to the article: Israel prepared to strike Iranian nuclear facilities if Tehran launches attack – report | The Times of Israel Five, concerning all world leaders turning against Israel and Biden’s efforts to undermine the Netanyahu government and prevent the defeat of Hamas: in a phone call on Apr. 4, 2024, Biden demanded that Netanyahu declare an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war or risk the loss of U.S. support. Biden now appears to be a spokesman for Hamas, and it will be next to impossible for Israel to get the hostages released if they cannot attack Hamas. (My opinion: Biden has now put the U.S. on Satan’s side in the Muslim effort to destroy Israel. His claim that Israel has America’s unwavering support is a big lie.) (More: On Apr.4, 2024, Netanyahu met with a visiting Republican congressional delegation and told them, “There’s an attempt to ram a Palestinian state down our throats.”) (More: On Apr. 4, 2024 (the day Biden threatened Netanyahu with the loss of U.S. support), a bolt of lightning struck the torch on the Statue of Liberty. I cannot dogmatically say it was a warning from God, but it is interesting that lightning struck the statue on the same day Biden threatened Israel.) (More: On Apr. 5, 2024, the head of the American Center for Law and Justice said, “The implication for that is that America has now become Israel’s tactical enemy. In real terms, in practical terms, this is impossible, demanding that Israel lose this war. Israel cannot afford to lose this war. This is an existential war.”) (More: On Apr. 5. 2024 (the day after Biden threatened Netanyahu), a 4.8 earthquake struck near Whitehouse Station, NJ. It rattled buildings in a large area of the northeast U.S., including New York City (about 45 miles away). An estimated 43 million people felt it, and it interrupted a UN Security Council meeting while attendees were discussing the situation in Gaza.) (More: Following Israel’s admission that 2 Israeli officers had mistakenly killed 7 humanitarian relief workers in Gaza, 40 Democrats sent a letter to Pres. Biden urging him to halt the shipment of weapons to Israel until a full investigation is completed. On Apr. 9, 2024, the Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote, “Denying weapons to Israel in the middle of a war is betrayal.” They called Nancy Pelosi a “sunshine ally.”) Six, concerning the Israeli-Hamas war:
(More: On Apr.7, 2024, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives said it is time to stop lecturing Israel on how to defend itself when terrorists attack it. He called upon Washington to unite in its support for our ally Israel.) (More: On Apr. 7, 2024, Muslims in Dearborn (the jihad capital of America), Michigan, marched and shouted, “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”) (My opinion: Biden lost the war in Afghanistan, he is trying to force Israel to lose the war in Gaza, he refuses to close America’s border with Mexico, and there is little doubt that he intends to surrender the sovereignty of the U.S. to the New World Order. If Israel does not already realize it, she will soon realize that the U.S. is no longer a reliable partner.) Seven, Jesus said one of the signs of His Second Coming would be wars and rumors of wars. On Apr. 9, 2024, the EU’s chief diplomat said,
Eight, concerning the days of Lot and the moral decline of the U.S.,
(My opinion: Millions of dollars are being wasted on things like this, and many people who really need help cannot get it.) Nine, concerning the days of Lot and a departing from the faith in the Roman Catholic Church: on Apr. 3, 2024, the Vatican approved a homosexual priest for the position of Dean of Theology at the Philosophical-Theological College in Brixen starting on Sept. 1, 2024. The new Dean has made it clear that he wants a “change of mind” in what the Catholic Church believes about homosexuality. Here is my daily update on the Israel-Hamas war. FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6). Finally, are you Rapture Ready? If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this. No matter which country you live in, violence is a fact of everyday life and is only growing worse. I am sure I am not alone when I say that most days, I lift my eyes to the heavens and ask, “How long, o Lord, how long?” Concerning Israel, though the violence of war reverberates throughout their land (and will continue in the Tribulation Period), how wonderful to read of the promise of Isaiah 60:18 concerning the Millennial Kingdom: “Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; But you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.” How long will it be until this wonderful promise is fulfilled? For many people throughout the world, particularly those who are under constant threat of violence, a similar cry is echoed – how much longer will this violence and wickedness persist? How much longer will the wicked be allowed to grow in strength and number? Habakkuk also dealt with concern over wickedness, particularly when he was told God would use the more wicked Babylonians to punish the less wicked Judeans. Habakkuk 1:13: “You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he?” Then, in verse 17, he says: “Shall they therefore empty their net, and continue to slay nations without pity?” In other words, how could a just God allow Babylon’s merciless slaughter of the nations, much less their triumph against God’s people in Judah? Why God are you allowing this? Why does strength belong to the wicked and humiliation belong to the just? Well, Habakkuk decides it’s time for answers. He was clearly troubled by how easy the wicked seemed to have it and if the wicked acted then like they act now, they were probably also mocking and taunting him. So, Habakkuk 2:1 tells us what he does next: “I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected.” Now, did Habakkuk ascend a literal watchtower? Maybe, maybe not. It’s possible that the language is figurative and that what he is doing is expressing his innermost attitude through the use of symbolism. In other words, just as one who stands with determination upon a watchtower, straining his eyes to see if those advancing are friend or foe, he is straining to grab hold of any vision of God’s truth, which may help him lift the burden on his heart. Proverbs 18:10: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Psalm 61:3: “For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy.” You see, this is exactly what we need to do when we are confused about things that are happening around us. We need to go somewhere quiet, put our full attention on the Lord and ask Him to help us work through things that may be confusing or distressing to us, therefore asking Him to reveal the truth of the matter to us. And then, he waits. Waiting! That is hard, isn’t it? But as hard as it is sometimes, that’s exactly what the Scriptures command.
There is value in waiting for the Lord. In fact, trusting in the Lord means waiting for the Lord. But as I was thinking about this and meditating on Habakkuk’s prayer, what struck me is that not only did Habakkuk voice his concerns to God, but he also waited until God provided an answer. Now, in our prayer life, do we take the opportunity to wait for God’s answer? Or, do we just spew forth all of the things on our mind, say “amen” and race off? Do you think it is possible that sometimes God might just want us to remain engaged in silent prayer so that He may answer the cry of our heart? Habakkuk was different. He was determined to go up on the tower and remain on the tower (figurative or literal) until he heard what the Lord was going to say to him. God seldom speaks and neither can we hear until we are silent, still and attentive. “Be still and know that I am God”, the psalmist said. And here is where I smile at what God says. Because He answers Habakkuk, but the answer involves more waiting! Habakkuk 2:3: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.“ Now, as much as we may feel frustration in waiting for wickedness to be judged, I want you to notice God has a purpose for it and verse 2 of Habakkuk chapter 2 confirms it: “Then the LORD answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.’” The vision was to be written down so that it would be clear, unambiguous, certain and would produce hope – hope that Judah would be delivered, and that Judah’s enemies would be judged. As much as we appreciate the printing press and all of the commentaries and books available about the Bible, sometimes man takes the unambiguous and makes it ambiguous. He takes the certain and makes it uncertain. He takes the accurate and makes it inaccurate. He takes the hopeful and makes it hopeless. If we are producing sermons, articles and tracts, it is so important that contained within it is truth because this may become the medium by which others are warned of the wrath to come and of the wonderful gift of salvation available. God did not provide His Word so that it would simply die in the hands of the spiritually dead. He expected, as evidenced by Habakkuk, that it be shared – particularly that which was warning people of the two paths available – righteousness or wickedness. Chapter 1 ended with Habakkuk’s eyes focused on the wickedness of the Chaldeans. And that is why the opening of chapter 2 is such an encouragement. Because it reminds us where peace is found. And may I say that as much as we love Bible prophecy, it is not given to satisfy our curiosity, it is given in order to stabilize our faith in turbulent times. Now, I will end with something very interesting. Habakkuk 2:3b says: “Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:4b says: “But the just shall live by his faith.” Now, we turn our attention to Hebrews 10:37-38 which says: “For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith…” What marvelous truth! Habakkuk said: wait for it – it will surely come; it will not tarry. And by the time we reach Hebrews, the “it” has become a “He”. Who is “He”? It is Jesus – King of kings and Lord of lords! Dear reader, He is coming. He is coming to rescue His people. He is coming to destroy the wicked. He is coming to set up His kingdom. He is coming so the promises of God may be fulfilled. HE IS COMING! And so, we wait. Hebrews 9:28: “So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.“ God’s Greatest Restraint – Terry James - https://terryjamesprophecyline.com/2024/04/14/gods-greatest-restraint/ Despite all the wickedness across America and the world, God the Holy Spirit continues remarkable Restraint as Paul the apostle foretold. “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only [the Holy Spirit] who now [Restrains] will [Restrain], until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked [Antichrist] be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him [Antichrist,] whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2 Thes:7-10). New World Order architects are nearing the precipice of bringing into being the Antichrist regime Satan has long sought to inflict upon humanity. They have employed the fear factor of a worldwide pandemic with the COVID scare. They have convinced governments of the Western world like those of Canada, Australia, and, yes, the United States of America, to put into place things to bring their populaces into compliance with bizarre implementations which in just the recent past would be considered insane. Like, for example, the Biden administration’s declaration that the day we celebrate Resurrection Day this year to be the Transgender Day of Visibility. This wicked declaration brought the following response from Franklin Graham, son of the late evangelist Billy Graham. “On the most significant day of the Christian calendar, when the Church around the world celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ who died and shed His blood for the sins of mankind, the Biden administration uses this opportunity to flaunt sin, to glorify sin, and to celebrate sin. “The Bible says, ‘…they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them!’ (Isaiah 3:9). Judgment is coming,” he added. “Instead of celebrating sin, we need to confess our sins, repent of our sins, and ask for God’s forgiveness.” The all-out assault on morality has, for certain, had its deleterious effects. Our public school systems, in considerable measure, put in front of our children the so-called “wokeness,” which defies God’s Divine order in the matter of the trans-movement and in other absolute reprobate ways that reflect where this generation stands in relationship to Romans 1:28. The Holy Spirit continues to restrain such assaults by Satan and his minions, both demonic and human –the evil forces described in Ephesians 6:12. Those who observe these late prophetic times as Watchmen on the wall see the Psalms chapter 2 derision God is sending upon the Ephesians 6:12 minions. These New World Order builders, despite their Great Reset and Build Back better efforts, can’t complete their Satan-inspired blueprint construction this side of the Rapture of the Church. The Holy Spirit, Resident within all believers, continues to Restrain. That said, it is not this Restraint against the satanic evil of which I write in thinking upon presenting this commentary. The absolutely remarkable Restraint to which I refer involves God’s unfathomable Mercy. The God Who Created all there is –Who Holds in His Mighty Hand the very matter of which all things consist, hasn’t completely destroyed the anti-God rebellion that is constantly thrown in His Holy Face. This is truly remarkable Restraint! Jesus Himself spoke of His Father’s unfathomable Mercy and restraint. When He was being horribly abused by those who were about to crucify Him, He said that He, Jesus, could Speak the Word and His Father would send legions of angels to save Him. That God the Father hasn’t completely destroyed all of this fallen world system is beyond human understanding. I, as father of sons, can’t imagine the Restraint the Heavenly Father exercised at that most crucial Moment in human history. I couldn’t, like Abraham, be obedient in offering up my son for sacrifice. I just haven’t that degree of faith –although I sure wish I did have the kind of Faith that can remove mountains. I have to be honest and say I just couldn’t let the evil forces of this world come against one of my children without bringing all I could muster to stop them. Our God, however, has within His Holy Person the ability to Invoke Mercy, through His Restraint, that is… well… unfathomable. Nonetheless, there is a sense among those who “Watch” as commanded in Mark 13:37, that God’s Restraint based within His great Mercy is very near Its Limits. This Age of Grace (Church Age) is about to end, and the age that will be marked by His terrible Judgment and Wrath is about to begin. The Rapture of the Church will be Heaven’s Demarcation that will bring about God’s Dealing with the likes of absolute evil and wickedness to which this world has come. Jesus said it will be the worst time of all human history (Matthew 24:21). You don’t want to be part of those left on this Judgment-bound earth when Christ Calls God’s people to be with Him in the Clouds of Glory. Here is how to be certain that you will go to Jesus when He Calls. “That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10). Daily Jot: The words we use - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com We live in a world of constant insult, sarcasm and accusation. The words used have such power that even one of the Ten Commandments addresses it: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” In Hebrew, it’s called “Lashon hara,” or evil tongue. The Hebrew writings say it is sin If someone says something negative about a person, or that is not previously known to that public, and is seriously not intended to correct or improve a negative situation–even if it’s true. The key is speaking the truth in love rather than in anger, condemnation, judgment, or in the case of what we have seen play out recently in our nation, political gain. We know how God feels about it through a curious story about Miriam and Moses. Deuteronomy 24:9 says, “Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on the road after you left Egypt.” Miriam and Aaron were speaking against Moses because of his Cushite wife. Afterwards, God avenged Moses, giving Miriam tzara’at, often mistranslated as leprosy. Tzara’at was a spiritual disease that the LORD used to teach His people about humility and repentance. The one with tzara’at was sent away to live outside the camp as a moral outcast, if the person repented and followed the God-given prescription made for healing and purification, then he/she could return. It was the priest who made the diagnosis, not a doctor, and the prescription was a type of death to sin, and resurrection to new life by being washed in the mikveh. The foundation of baptism, was not a new concept to the Jews! Words harm not just individuals, but entire communities. They damage relationships and destroy trust. No society can survive without trust. In this, there are a number of lessons. Jesus taught many times on this subject, and warned the Pharisees of the coming judgement, in which they would be held accountable for their words. “For by your own words you will be acquitted, and by your own words you will be condemned (Matthew 12:37).” The Greek phrase used was “rema Argos,” meaning “careless or inactive words.” In Matthew 12:34, Jesus said, “For the mouth speaks what overflows from the heart.” The Pharisee’s sin was huge, they had blasphemed the Lord of Glory with their words. But even careless or insignificant words are considered sinful if they do not bring glory to God. Given the importance of our words and the severe consequences of even the most careless ones, let us learn to yield our tongues to the Holy Spirit’s control. As Psalm 141:3 says, “Set a guard over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.” Lashon hara is a defilement of one’s spirit, that opens the door to physical illness—and is a departure from the call to holiness. James 1:26 tells us that “Anyone who thinks he is religiously observant but does not control his tongue is deceiving himself, and his observance counts for nothing.” We are all made in the image and likeness of God, and God created man to use language to build up others in love. Our use of words is indirectly linked to the “breath of God” within us. While we cannot control what others say, we can control our response. Let us be mindful who we are before the LORD. Daily Devotion: If We Had More Andrews . . . - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which means ‘Christ’). —John 1:41 https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/if-we-had-more-andrews/ - Listen When we think of the Bible’s great men and women, Andrew doesn’t necessarily come to mind. Instead, we generally tend to think of someone like Peter, who was Andrew’s brother, or the apostle Paul. Yet Andrew played an important part in God’s work. Andrew had committed himself to following John the Baptist, a colorful character who preached that people should repent. John was a national figure during his ministry. In fact, the Jewish historian Josephus wrote more about the ministry of John the Baptist than he did about Jesus. But when Jesus arrived on the scene, John realized that his work was done. He had been a voice crying in the wilderness, preparing the way for the Lord’s arrival. And when Christ began His public ministry, John said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29 NLT). In other words, “My work is done here. He’s the One you want to follow.” So, Andrew followed Jesus, but he did so with some caution. And, one day, when Jesus saw Andrew and another disciple following Him, He turned around and asked them what they wanted. No doubt they were a little dumbfounded. But they managed to ask Jesus where He was staying. Jesus replied, “Come and see” (verse 39 NLT). We don’t know where Jesus took them, but we do know that He didn’t have a home. On one occasion, He said, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head” (Matthew 8:20 NLT). The Bible tells us that when people went back to their homes in Jerusalem, Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. That was His home. For Andrew, it wasn’t about seeing where Jesus lived. Rather, it was about finding out who Jesus was. Andrew was inquisitive. He wanted to know. And there is nothing wrong with wanting to know for yourself. Thomas was that way, too. He wanted to know the truth for himself. And we should want to know for ourselves as well. Here’s an interesting thing about Andrew. Once he saw, he was convinced. Once he knew for himself, he was a believer. And guess what he did next? He went looking for his brother. Usually, the most zealous evangelists are those who have just come to Jesus Christ. It is not uncommon at our evangelistic events for someone who made a decision for Christ on the first night to bring friends and family members on the other nights. What’s great about Andrew is that when we read about him in the Bible, he’s always bringing someone to Jesus. We don’t read of Andrew preaching to thousands. But his brother, Peter, did that on the Day of Pentecost. If we had more Andrews in the world, then we would have more Simon Peters. Thank God for the great men and women whom God uses to touch thousands. But let’s also thank God for all the Andrews who work behind the scenes. They are the unsung heroes of the faith.
