Alert! As you will see below, Israel has decided to hit Iran. There is still debate about whether it should be a devastating blow or a more limited strike. But in either case, the Iranians are pledging to retaliate. In fact, the Iranians are promising to respond to any attack with overwhelming force. Needless to say, that would certainly provoke another response from Israel. The cycle would continue until someone finally decides that enough is enough. But what if neither side backs down and the conflict escalates to an unthinkable level? According to the Times of Israel, Channel 12 is reporting that the Israeli government has decided to hit Iran “clearly and forcefully”… In an unsourced report, Channel 12 claims the war cabinet has made the decision to hit back “clearly and forcefully” against Iran for its missile and drone attack on Saturday night. The response will be designed to send the message that Israel “will not allow an attack of that magnitude against it to pass without a reaction,” the report says. The response will also be designed to make plain that Israel will not allow the Iranians to “establish the equation” they have sought to assert in recent days. This appears to be a reference to Iran’s warning that future Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, including its international diplomatic premises, will henceforth again be met by Iranian retaliatory strikes on Israel. Of course that isn’t the only outlet that is indicating that a decision has already been made. According to Axios, Yoav Gallant has told Lloyd Austin that Israel feels that it must respond to Iran’s attack on Saturday… Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Sunday that Israel has no choice but to respond to the unprecedented missile and drone attack launched by Iran over the weekend, a U.S. official and another source briefed on the call told Axios. And on Monday, Herzi Halevi publicly stated that Iran’s attack “will be met with a response”… Israel’s war cabinet met Monday to discuss how and when to respond to Iran’s attack, which Tehran said was in response to the killing by Israel of a senior Iranian general at an Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus, Syria. Israel hasn’t confirmed or denied involvement. “We are looking ahead and considering our steps. The launching of so many missiles, cruise missiles and drones into Israeli territory will be met with a response,” said the head of Israel’s military, Herzi Halevi, during a visit to an Israeli air force base that was damaged by the Iranian attack. Some news sources were suggesting that an attack was imminent, but that appears to be very unlikely. The war cabinet is going to meet again on Tuesday, and any strike on Iran will almost certainly have to wait until some time after that meeting… The war cabinet is scheduled to meet again tomorrow, the report notes, and Home Front command regulations have not been changed, indicating that an Israeli attack is unlikely to take place today. But the clock is ticking, because Passover is coming up, and that is a major national holiday in Israel. So I would expect something to happen well before then. Many in Netanyahu’s coalition are getting restless, because they want to hit Iran extremely hard. In fact, Itamar Ben-Gvir has said that it is time for Israel “to go crazy”… Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing base is already disgruntled that the ground operation in Rafah hasn’t taken place and doesn’t seem imminent, since Israel has pulled most of its soldiers out of Gaza. Israel is calling up two reserve brigades in the coming days for reinforcement in Gaza but will need more forces for any major operation. Now, Netanyahu’s supporters want a strong retaliation against Iran as well. “To create deterrence in the Middle East,” Israel “has to go crazy,” Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s national security minister and a voice of Israel’s hard right, said on Sunday. Failure to act against Iran or in Rafah could further harm Netanyahu’s already diminished political support, said Chuck Freilich, a former Israeli deputy national security adviser. On the other hand, some Israeli leaders want to strike Iran without greatly escalating matters. But it appears that Iran is poised to respond to any Israeli attack with tremendous force. The new leader of the IRGC is saying that whenever Israel attacks Iranian interests anywhere in the region from now on the response will come from Iran itself… The head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami, said Sunday that Iran would respond to future Israeli attacks on Iran-linked targets from Iranian soil, potentially opening the door for escalatory responses from Israel. “We have decided to create a new equation and it goes this way: from now on if the Zionist regime anywhere attacks our interests, assets, figures and citizens, we will reciprocally attack it from the origin of Iran,” Salami told a state-run television station. That is a major shift in Iranian strategy. And Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has announced that if Israel strikes Iran directly, “it will face a response at least tenfold greater and of similar nature”… It comes as Iran today vowed to launch ten times the amount of missiles in a fresh strike against Israel if it unleashes a retaliatory hit on Tehran. The new threat could see 1,460 missiles hurled at Israel as world leaders hold their breath to see if an “uncontrollable war” breaks out in the Middle East. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council vowed to retaliate if Israel launches a counter-strike – for which IDF plans have already been drawn up. The Council issued a chilling warning that said: “If the Zionist regime persists in its evil actions against Iran, by any means and to any extent, it will face a response at least tenfold greater and of similar nature.” I believe that the Iranians are serious. So if Israel strikes Iran, they will also need to be ready to deal with Iran’s response. And this time around they won’t be pulling any punches. According to one Iranian official, the response could even include a weapon that Iran has never used before… The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, Abolfazl Amouei has stated tonight that Iran is prepared to utilize “A Weapon it has never before Used” if Israel decides to launch a Retaliatory Attack. Sadly, I don’t expect either side to back down. Israel will hit Iran, and then Iran will strike back. And then it will officially be on. Meanwhile, action continues to heat up on the northern front. On Monday, there were more IDF airstrikes in southern Lebanon… Israeli fighter jets struck additional buildings the IDF says are used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The IDF says the Hezbollah sites were hit in the villages of Markaba and Majdal Zoun. Troops also shelled areas near Jabal Blat with artillery to “remove a threat,” the army says. And four IDF soldiers were reportedly wounded after a small group crossed over the Lebanese border… Four Israeli soldiers were wounded Monday after a bomb was detonated inside Lebanese territory, in a rare moment where it appears the IDF was seeking to breach the border. Hezbollah took responsibility for the explosion, saying it planted the bomb near the border. Hezbollah militants “planted explosive devices in the Tal Ismail area” inside Lebanon, and detonated them after Israeli soldiers “crossed the border,” according to a statement from the group. The IDF subsequently acknowledged the four soldiers were injured, and it was reported by news wires as happening “hundreds of meters within Lebanon.” One of the soldiers has been listed by the IDF as “severely injured” after the explosion was set off “in the area of the northern border” – according to the military statement. Israeli army radio admitted that “Golani fighters carried out an operation near the border, tens of hundreds of meters away from Israeli territory,” and that the troops were injured “inside Lebanese territory.” We have been waiting for this war for a very long time. Now it is here. Here in the western world, we will probably see enormous protests in our major cities and the price of gasoline is likely to go absolutely nuts. But in the Middle East, the consequences could be much more severe. The Iranians and the Israelis have both been preparing for this showdown for decades. The Iranians would like to see Israel wiped off the face of the map, and the Israelis are absolutely determined to do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening. In a conflict where the stakes are this high, it can be very easy to panic. Both sides have some surprises up their sleeves, and unfortunately I have a feeling that it will not be too long before some of those surprises are finally unveiled. The world now holds its breath, fearful that an Israeli reprisal will keep that volatile region spiraling toward a greater war. I believe Bible prophecy indicates that the present conflict will not immediately turn into the global conflagration which so many now fear. But it is part of a pattern that will eventually lead to Armageddon. Before Friday’s attack, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote on social media, “If Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran.” Iran did exactly what it was warned against. Instead of using its proxies in the region, Iran hit Israel with a massive attack, almost all of which clearly emanated from Iran. How could they have turned to groups like the Houthis in Yemen to fight for them? The whole point was to try and save face. The Houthis are among the most impoverished people on earth. But they are also Shiite Muslims and funded by Iran. They take their orders from the Ayatollah. They can’t adequately feed their own people, but Iran sends them expensive and sophisticated ballistic missiles which can reach all the way across the vast territory of Saudi Arabia and Jordan and into Israel. If Iran had relied primarily on the poor Houthis and other subordinate Shiite groups to take revenge on Israel, Iran would have seemed afraid to stand up for itself. The United States and other allies of Israel helped shoot down the barrage of drones and missiles coming out of Iran. President Biden supported Israel’s defensive action, but says he will not support Israel in any kind of military retaliation against Iran. He wants Israel to ignore the fact that Iran just sent over 300 cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones from its own territory directly into Israel. Ironically, the US told Iran that if it attacks the United States in any way, we will retaliate. Why the double standard? Because if Israel attacks Iran the way Iran attacked Israel, Israel would do it successfully, inflicting massive damage on Iran. They might take advantage of the opportunity and destroy as much of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as possible. In response, Hezbollah, another Iranian proxy, might join Iran in launching a massive missile attack on Israel. This could mean, not just hundreds, but hundreds of thousands of missiles striking Israel, many from Hezbollah territory in nearby Lebanon. The growing US presence in the region helped Israel quell the Friday attack, but it made those US assets targets. Should the Shiite coalition successfully strike the US military, it would require a US military response. Would that trigger Iran’s alliances with nuclear powers China and/or Russia? Their involvement could then trigger NATO’s Article 5 and turn the present Middle East conflict into the next World War. That is why the President is afraid. That’s why world leaders are holding their breaths. But Ezekiel 38 indicates that both Iran and Israel will be alive and well for the future war it describes. Verse 11 says that Israel will at that time be a “land of unwalled villages.” It says the people there will be “at rest” and “live securely.” That does not describe Israel today, but sounds like the time after Antichrist’s peace treaty with Israel — the treaty which kicks off the seven-year tribulation. I do not believe the present conflict will immediately escalate into a global conflagration. But it does seem to be part of the general buildup in that direction. The fear and loathing now being experienced by the world’s nations is a fuse that has been lit. It will eventually make them desperate enough to facilitate the rise of Antichrist. The announcement came that a 4.2 earthquake centered somewhere beneath New Jersey had shaken the northeast, with 4.8 on the Richter recorded in New York City. While 4.8 would be barely noticed in parts of California or some of the western environs, an earthquake of any magnitude in the northeast U.S. provokes considerable angst. These just don’t occur that often beneath the solid rock that is Manhattan. A day or two before the quake, a torrential storm of rain, wind, and lightning struck the New York City area. A photographer caught an explosive lightning strike hitting the Statue of Liberty’s torch. Before that, of course, we know the Francis Scott Key Bridge, named after the author of our national anthem, in Baltimore collapsed when struck by a container ship heavily loaded with environmentally dangerous cargo. Now, I’ve not been one to easily accept that God necessarily makes His Displeasure Known through Displays of Geophysical Reaction. However, there has seemingly come the time to acknowledge that things have reached the point that coincidence likely has diminished as a percentage of cause and effect in considering such occurrences as witnessed just recently. While the earthquake was shaking the Big Apple and regions of the eastern U.S., another report reached my ears. The audio on one or the other news programs I was listening to had a United Nations official saying that Israel must be dealt with harshly in the matter of its attacks on the civilian populations of Gaza. Benjamin Netanyahu must be replaced as Israel’s prime minister and Israel made to cease wreaking destruction on the defenseless Palestinians. It was reported that, at that time, the U.N. Building was affected by the shaking, as was downtown Manhattan and even Yankee Stadium. Whether one holds to the notion that God reacts in this way to matters adversely affecting Israel, it can’t be dismissed that there has been, of late, an incremental stepping up of such geophysical gyrations. The Prophet Zechariah foretold that all nations will eventually come against God’s chosen nation and people. God will, Zechariah says, cause all to be injured who do so (Zechariah chapter 12). God Himself tells through the Prophet Joel that He will bring all nations to face the horror of Armageddon because of their dealings in forcing Israel to divide His land –the land He granted Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob forever (Joel chapter 2). In that regard, an article makes clear what Israel’s leader thinks about the current pressures being brought against his country. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Thursday with a Republican U.S. Congressional delegation, which was organized by AIPAC, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. During the meeting, which also included the AIPAC senior leadership, the Prime Minister briefed the delegation on the fighting in the Gaza Strip and answered the Representatives’ questions on defeating the Hamas terrorist organization, the unrelenting efforts to free the hostages, and the issue of humanitarian aid… [Netanyahu gave the representatives 3 points in outlining Israel’s need of help from the U.S., the most important for considering the dividing of the land being the third point.] “The third thing is this: there is a contrary move, an attempt to force, ram down our throats a Palestinian state, which will be another terror haven, another launching ground for an attempt, as was the Hamas state in Gaza. That is opposed by Israelis, overwhelmingly. We just had a vote in the Knesset: 99 to 9. Do you have those kinds of numbers? I think you might have those numbers if you bring that same resolution, that same resolution to Congress. It is certainly prudent, as Watchers on the Wall, to observe the geophysical gyrations in order to try to discern the Prophetic Forecast. A Chronicle of Apathy: When World Leaders Looked The Other Way During The Holocaust – By Jan Markell - https://harbingersdaily.com/a-chronicle-of-apathy-when-world-leaders-looked-the-other-way-during-the-holocaust/ As I state in my book, Trapped in Hitler’s Hell, quoting Dr. Natan Kellermann, there is something unprecedented about the European Holocaust. For the first time in the bloodstained history of the human race, a decision was birthed in a modern state, in the midst of a civilized continent, to track down, register, mark, isolate, dispossess, humiliate, concentrate, transport, and murder every single person of an ethnic group as defined by the perpetrators. This was targeted at an ethnic group who so generously contributed to the culture of the world; to a people who have borne the brunt of enmity towards them because they dared to be different and dared to insist on their difference. Six million Jews were killed in Europe and replaced with 20 million Muslims. They burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. They destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world. In 2017, Benjamin Netanyahu made the accurate and stunning statement that the Allies knew all that was going on and did very little. He stated, “ If the powers in 1942 had acted against the death camps — and all that was needed was repeated bombing of the camps — had they acted then, they could have saved 4 million Jews and millions of other people.” He continued, “The powers knew, and they did not act. When terrible crimes were being committed against the Jews, when our brothers and sisters were being sent to the furnaces, the powers k new and did not act.” Can you imagine? Talk about a chronicle of apathy. He stated three causes for the organized slaughter — widespread anti-Semitism, global indifference, and the weakness of the Jewish people in the Diaspora. Entire books were written about the Roosevelt Administration and their apathy towards the suffering. FDR had been in office just one week when the first concentration camp was opened — Dachau. Yes, many U.S. Presidential administrations have made serious mistakes with their policy towards Israel and the Jews but none so grievous as FDR and his cronies who had hardened hearts beyond comprehension. The idea of bombing the railroad tracks into the camps was brought to the attention of Roosevelt’s State Department. Their response was this: “Such an operation would in any case be of such doubtful efficacy that it would not warrant the use of our resources.” Translate that: The Jews are not worth our time and resources. And yet 90% of Jews would vote for Franklin Roosevelt. Many came to him from Europe pleading the cause of European Jewry. He pretended as though he was very concerned, even while he was turning away 900 Jews on the ship the St. Louis, sending them back to the German and Polish ovens. Roosevelt ignored the cable from the St. Louis in 1939 even though the ship was so close that the passengers saw the lights of Miami. Imagine their terror and consternation. The nation that welcomes millions of immigrants cared less that their destination, by default, would be a return to the gas chambers. It is not an overstatement to say that the nation of Israel might not have been re-born had FDR been President in 1948. On the other hand, President Harry Truman cast the first U.N. vote for the right of the nation to be re-born out of the ashes of the Holocaust. He also relaxed immigration laws to allow Jewish victims of WWII into the U.S. In 1946 he sent a delegation to tour the refugee camps in Europe and realized these Jews needed a home. Netanyahu stated, “From a helpless people, we have turned into a robust nation. From a defenseless nation, we have turned into a powerful country that can defend itself with one of the strongest armies.” Ezekiel 37:10 KJV – “So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.” On December 17, 1942, the Allies issued a proclamation condemning the ‘extermination’ of the Jewish people in Europe and declared that they would punish the perpetrators. Why not go a step further and put an end to the carnage, or at least slow the destruction, by bombing the railroads into the camps? The utter shock of senior Allied commanders who liberated camps at the end of the war may indicate that this understanding was somewhat limited. Gen. Eisenhower had his troops take pictures of the liberated camps, admitting that few would believe the severity of the Holocaust without this evidence. Mankind’s sinful fallen nature prevented the rescue of up to four million Jews and many other non-Jews who were in the camps. World leaders looked the other way as early as 1942. They even knew about the gas being used in the gas chambers. Today, similar apathy exists concerning the slaughter of Christians around the world, particularly in the Middle East and parts of Africa. Not even our pulpits address this. It is a second holocaust that world leaders can’t seem to be bothered with. In 2017, the UK debated whether to remove the Holocaust from its school curriculum because it ‘offends’ the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. This is a frightening illustration of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving in to tolerance and diversity — except when it applies to Jews and Christians. I realize this era of history is now considered ancient history — an era from long ago that has slipped from memory of many. Surely, they said, it could never happen again. Anti-Semitism never dies. Satan is obsessed with exterminating God’s covenant people because they are the key to the last days and the last days spell Satan’s doom. One of the infamous end time players, the terrorist state of Iran, launched a historic attack on Israel. Thanks to Israeli defenses, the attack didn’t succeed. Have no doubt: Iran’s, and its allies who joined in the attack, stated mission is to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. The attack demonstrated that Iran’s military capabilities are not what Iran, at least, thinks they are, and Israel’s defenses are better than expected. It also shows that end time players are now emboldened to directly attack Israel, possibly from the incredibly weak US leadership that no longer stands in the gap of deterrence. And this also has prophetic implications. Many from the prophetic side will point to Ezekiel 38. Ezekiel 38:2 says, “…set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against them.” Magog, Meshech, Tubal are all located in what is now modern Turkey. Verse 5 says, “Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them…” Later it mentions Gomer, Togarmah, Sheba and Dedan. This was not the Ezekiel 38 end time battle. It lacked direct participation from many of the players, notably Meshech, Tubal and Magog in Turkey as well as Libya, and Saudi Arabia. Likewise, this is not the Psalm 83 war because it also lacks players such as Edom (modern day Jordan). In fact, Jordan came to Israel’s aid during the attack. Another prophetic consideration is America’s role in this attack. In Genesis 12:3, the LORD’s promise about the great nation of Israel is: “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curses thee.” While the US President said he will stand with Israel against any Iranian attack, he also said he will not support Israeli retaliation. This is double-mindedness because it is saying that the US government will stand with Israel in defense, but will not tolerate Israel fighting back—a signal to the terrorists that they have a green light to attack without fear of retaliation. In fact, it can be argued that Iran would not have dared such an attack if Joe Biden and Barack Obama before him had not unfroze and paid billions of dollars to the terrorist state that it used to build its arsenal. They did the same with Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. We know there will be a major attack on Israel that leads to the seven-year peace agreement that starts the beginning of Jacob’s Troubles (commonly referred to as the Tribulation). Certainly, the bold Iranian attack could result in greater attacks which could lead to the end time scenario. Moreover, American citizens should brace themselves for the possible consequences of their leadership funding Iran and terrorist groups like Hamas and the Houthis against Israel. We are seeing the ramifications of claiming support for Israel while funding Israel’s enemies with “humanitarian aid” that is really being used to attack Israel. They were godly men whom God used powerfully. But their greatness did not come from them. It came from the fact that Jesus called them to be His followers. For example, a blank sheet of paper isn’t worth much by itself. But if it has the signature of a famous person on it, then it could be worth more. And if it has the signature of a very famous person, it could be very valuable. I read about a piece of paper with handwritten lyrics by one of the Beatles. It sold for thousands of dollars. Did someone buy it because they needed an extra piece of paper? No. Someone bought it because one of the Beatles used that paper to write lyrics to a song that has become famous. The value wasn’t in the paper. It was in who wrote on that piece of paper. Certain works of art may not be worth much, but if they have the signature of someone like Van Gogh or Picasso, their value skyrockets. The value isn’t in the canvas or the paint. The value is in who created it and signed it. And where does our value come from? Does it come from who we are? No, it comes from Christ, who lives in us and whose signature is on our lives. The Bible says, “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves” (2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT). When Andrew brought his brother, Simon Peter, to Jesus, the Bible says that Jesus looked “intently” at him. We could also translate this to say that Jesus looked right through him. Have you ever had someone look right through you? To put it another way, do you have a mother? Mothers have a certain way of looking at their children. Jesus told him, “ ‘Your name is Simon, son of John—but you will be called Cephas’ (which means ‘Peter’)” (John 1:42 NLT). Jesus was saying, “I know that you’ve been known as Simon. But I have a new name for you. From now on, you’re Peter.” Simon Peter’s new name meant “rock,” and ultimately, he would grow into that name. Jesus saw his potential. In the same way, God sees right through you. He has a plan for your life. He knows what He can make you into. Jesus knows the real you. He knows what you think about late at night, what you dream about, what you hope for, and what worries you. And He knows what needs to happen in your life. Maybe Peter thought he wouldn’t amount to anything. But then he met Jesus, who saw him for who he was. Like Peter, you might be aware of your own shortcomings. You don’t feel as though God could ever do much with someone like you. But God sees you for who you are, and He loves you.
