As we came to Sunday evening, the mood in my house, and all across Israel, changed greatly. At sundown began Yom Ha’Zikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day. On this day, every business, restaurant, and workplace shut its doors so we could take time to remember the 25,040 soldiers who have fallen and victims of terror who have died since 1948. This is the first year we’ve had the murdered innocents of October 7 to include in our mourning. The violence and evil actions perpetrated by Hamas on that day were brought right back in front of our faces. While it was a day of mourning, it also steeled us for what is ahead. I appreciated the words on Tuesday of former chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, when he said, “If you take the math and do 1,200 [victims of October 7] and apply it to the United States, that’d be 50,000-100,000 people dead in a morning. Can you imagine what we would do?” You’re exactly right, general, and we’re carrying out precisely those actions that you would imagine. We’ve mourned those whom we’ve lost, but even mourning must come to an end. As the psalms tell us “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). Or, because in Israel our days change in the evening, joy comes at sunset. When sundown came on Monday, Yom Ha’Zikaron became Yom Ha’atzmaut. Memorial Day became Independence Day! Sorrow turned into joy! This Independence Day celebrated the 76th anniversary of the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy in the final chapter of his book: “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children” (Isaiah 66:8). Not only do we celebrate the birth of the State of Israel, but we rejoice in the fact that following one attack after another we are still here! From the river to the sea, Israel shall always be! Gaza The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) completed this past week an operation in the Zeitoun neighborhood of northern Gaza. Word had come that Hamas was regrouping in the area. Forces from the IDF came from the Netzarim corridor and eliminated the threat before it could become a major problem. Sadly, four nineteen-year-old IDF sergeants were killed in the operation. Then, today, the IDF spokesman announced the deaths of five soldiers of the Paratrooper Brigade’s 202nd Battalion in the northern Gaza strip. In addition, three more soldiers of the 202nd Battalion were seriously wounded. Rafah has seen significant action in the past week. The IDF is setting up a new secured parameter along the Philadelphi corridor at Egypt’s border, while in Rafah Israeli tanks have entered the neighborhoods of Al-Geneina, Al-Salam, and Al-Brazil. Hundreds of thousands of civilians have already fled the area for safety, having been warned by the IDF ahead of time. The civilian evacuation that the U.S. said would take months has only taken a couple of days. Once Rafah is at least somewhat stabilized above ground, it will be time to uncover the massive underground tunnel system. Egypt is very concerned about this eventuality because it will show them in a very bad light. For years, these tunnels have been used to transport huge amounts of weapons from Egypt to Hamas. The American CIA is also unhappy about the tunnels being uncovered. They’ve known about them for many years but have kept them quiet. They much prefer a weak and controllable Israel that depends on U.S. armaments for security. Either the United Nations has mastered the power of resurrection or they failed basic math. On May 6, the august body published a report asserting that the dead in Gaza included 9,500 women and 14,500 children. Two days later, on May 8, they amended the report to read 4,959 women and 7,797 children. There were no press releases surrounding the change. No apologies. Now, I certainly do not want to make light of those numbers because they are a tragedy. However, the responsibility for their deaths must be laid at the feet of Hamas who used them as human shields and at those of the United Nations who have been encouraging antisemitism through their words and actions for decades. Want to know the kind of people you find working for the UN? A growing number of posts in a chatroom run by a former United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) employee indicate that UNRWA staff are stealing humanitarian aid and selling it for profit. Remember, UNRWA employees have been reported to have participated in the October 7 massacre and harbored Israeli hostages. In the midst of their condemnation of all that Israel does, the UN managed to find time to vote to enhance the rights and privileges of Palestine. Included in the vote was also an encouragement to the UN Security Council to reconsider Palestine’s request to become the 194th member of the international body. Only nine countries voted against the resolution – Argentina, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, and the United States – while another 25 wimpily abstained. The North Late Tuesday night, an Israeli aircraft took out a car in the city of Tyre, Lebanon. At least two people were killed, including Hussain Ibrahim Mekky, a senior Hezbollah field commander on the southern front of Lebanon. Mekky was involved in the planning of many terrorist attacks. Hezbollah retaliated with a heavy barrage of rockets fired at Mt. Meron from southern Lebanon. A recent claim by terrorist group indicated that they have now included in their rocket arsenal new 1200-pound missiles that they call “Jihad Mughniyeh”. The name comes from the son of senior Hezbollah official Imad Mughniyeh. The younger Mughniyeh was killed in an operation in 2015, while the elder was assassinated in Damascus back in 2008. US Relations A standoff still exists over certain arms shipments to Israel. U.S. House Republicans have pushed a bill that would force the Biden administration to send the frozen shipment of bombs to Israel. The president has already indicated that he would veto the bill, should it pass to him. Instead, the administration is putting forth a new $1 billion package of military aid, which includes tactical vehicles, ammunition for tanks, and shells. While the aid is appreciated, it is not what is most needed for the operation in Rafah. And that is the sticking point. The Biden administration is trying to interfere in the IDF’s ability to conduct an operation in Rafah. What the Republicans are saying with their bill is that Israel knows best how to carry out the war with Hamas, and that the U.S. should support their allies in their actions. Biden has a strong ally against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the plan for the IDF to complete the war. Sadly, that ally comes from within Israel. Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has aligned with the U.S. president to bring Netanyahu and his government down. And Gallant isn’t the only one. It’s all the generals and ex-generals who were educated in America. They have become liberal leftists, and they are seeking to do to Israel what the hard left has been doing to the U.S. Once they have taken Netanyahu down, it will pave the way for Hamas’s survival and the creation of an international force to rule Gaza. This would be disastrous. Netanyahu’s administration has no desire to rule over the Palestinians. But Israel is at a place where it is not about what we want, but about what we need. If any other option than Israeli military control of the Gaza Strip is implemented, it is a reward to Hamas and a guarantee that October 7 will one day happen again. It will also lead to the grand prize of the terrorist agenda – a Palestinian state. And what would then be the lesson to the terrorists around the world? What a long struggle can’t achieve, a massacre can. Butcher, rape, and behead to your heart’s content, and you’ll be richly rewarded. Jordan Jordanian officials announced that they had thwarted an Iran-backed plan to smuggle weapons into the country to carry out acts of sabotage. Iranian proxy militias based in Syria funneled the weapons to a Muslim Brotherhood cell in Jordan. When the scheme was discovered, the cache of weapons was seized, and arrests were made. Turkey Could the president of Turkey be facing another coup attempt? If you ask Erdogan, he’d likely tell you that it is very possible. There are reports that he has gathered the heads of his intelligence departments to discuss information about a possible imminent coup, the first since a failed 2016 plot. With the economy floundering the way it is, it would not be surprising to see people rising up. However, it could also be a false flag that President Erdogan uses as an excuse to crackdown on any opposition. In a possibly related story, the president ordered the arrest of four senior police chiefs in Ankara on Tuesday for connections to an organized crime boss. There are those, however, who say that these chiefs were involved in the planning of a coup. Slovakia A gunman fired five shots Wednesday at Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, hitting him multiple times. The alleged assailant, 71-year-old Juraj Cintula, is reported to be a former security guard with links to a pro-Russian paramilitary group. As of the time of this writing, the prime minister was in surgery in extremely critical condition. Buried Facts About the Gaza War – Melanie Phillips - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=6906 The extent to which the political class and the media are burying facts that undermine their poisonous narrative in order to defame and undermine Israel's war of survival has become simply jaw-dropping. The Biden administration has gone to great lengths to appease the genocidal and terrorist Iranian regime. It has funneled billions into Tehran's coffers through sanctions relief. It has refused to effectively respond to repeated Iran-backed attacks on U.S. interests. And it is doing everything it can to prevent Israel from taking action that would damage America's relationship with the Iranian regime, such as the destruction of Hamas, a vital force in Tehran's proxy army against Israel and the West. The American appeasement of Iran has left many people mystified. They should have been paying more attention. Twelve days before the Oct. 7 pogrom, Jay Solomon reported on the Semafor site that Ariane Tabatabai, chief of staff to the U.S. assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict, was part of an "Iran Experts Initiative" created by senior Iranian Foreign Ministry officials to bolster Tehran's position on global security issues, particularly its nuclear program. In other words, Tabatabai was an agent of influence for Iran at the heart of the U.S. government and with the highest level of security clearance. Semafor and the Iranian opposition group Iran International obtained a large cache of Iranian government correspondence and emails. These revealed that, in 2021, Robert Malley--who was the point man on Iran under both the Obama and Biden administrations until he was removed in June 2023 following a still unexplained "mishandling of classified materials"--had infiltrated Tabatabai into the U.S. State Department to assist him in his negotiations with Iran. The day Solomon's article appeared, 31 U.S. Senators wrote to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to express their concern. They wrote: "We find it unconscionable that a senior department official would continue to hold a sensitive position despite her alleged participation in an Iranian government information operation." They noted that, in March 2021, shortly after Tabatabai was appointed senior adviser to the undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, Iranian dissidents reported her long history of echoing the Iranian regime's talking points. That month, Adam Kredo reported in The Washington Free Beacon on these dissidents' shock at Tabatabai's appointment. They claimed she parroted the Iranian regime's position at multiple public appearances and that her father was part of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's inner circle. In April 2021, several members of the House of Representatives requested a review of Tabatabai's security clearance. In response, the Biden administration dismissed these claims as "smears and slander." Even more astonishingly, Tabatabai runs the office overseeing hostage negotiations. Three weeks after the Oct. 7 pogrom, a reporter asked White House Spokesman John Kirby whether it was appropriate for Tabatabei to be in such a position given the claims made against her. Kirby stalled. Tabatabai is still there. Online, several commentators (including myself) wrote about this. The mainstream media studiously ignored it. Over the past few days, they've ignored another vital revelation. From the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, Israel has been accused of disproportionately killing Palestinian civilians. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry put out daily figures of civilians who had been killed that rose to more than 35,000, of whom the vast majority were said to be women and children. These figures, promoted by the United Nations and used by both the Biden administration and the U.K. government to berate and threaten Israel, have fueled mass demonstrations and attacks on Jewish people worldwide. On May 8, however, the U.N. Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs halved its figures for the number of women and children killed in Gaza from the number it gave the day before. Preposterously, U.N. Spokesman Farhan Haq tried to maintain that the claim of 35,000 dead remained "unchanged" and the only new development was that more than 10,000 bodies still had to be fully identified. This, however, was merely an attempt to cover up the fact that the U.N. had been putting out Hamas figures that were always demonstrably ludicrous since they did not differentiate between terrorists and civilians. In early April, after statisticians authoritatively demolished these figures as "statistically impossible," the Gaza Health Ministry quietly admitted that it had "incomplete data" for more than 10,000 of the individuals on its lists and revealed that it had even obtained some of its numbers from the media. Now the U.N. has felt forced to adjust its own figures while fudging the reason. Given that Israel says it has killed some 14,000 combatants, the ratio of civilians to combatants killed stands now at around 1:1--a far lower proportion of civilians killed than any other country has ever achieved in war. In other words, this is a total refutation of the incendiary lie of "disproportionate" killing of civilians with which the U.S. and British governments and Western media have been beating up Israel and fueling incitement against Jews around the world. Yet not one word has been heard about this from either the government or the media. Now comes an admission by Fatah--the ruling party in the Palestinian Authority whose leader is P.A. chief Mahmoud Abbas--that it took part in the Oct. 7 pogrom alongside Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups. Abu Muhammad, the official spokesman for Fatah's military arm--the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades--said in a video message last week that the Brigades participated in the invasion "and together with our brothers in the Palestinian struggle organizations captured many Zionists; some of them were transferred to us and some are still in our hands." The Brigades, he said, were participating in the fighting against the IDF in Gaza and had carried out more than 470 "military missions" since Oct. 7. According to a report by Arutz Sheva, the Brigades revealed on Telegram that, over the past few days, their forces had fired an anti-tank missile at a tank in the Jabalya camp, set off an explosive device aimed at a tank south of the Zeytun neighborhood and launched rockets at IDF forces at the Netzarim junction. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades are yet another Iranian proxy army through which Iran can attack Israel under the cover of "plausible deniability." As Phillip Smyth wrote last December in an article for West Point's Combating Terrorism Center, elements in the Brigades have thanked Iran and Hezbollah for weapons and equipment and openly asked Iran for money. In 2023, an unnamed P.A. security source told The Jerusalem Post that the group was being paid by Iran via the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Just think about this: The military arm of Fatah, the P.A.'s ruling party, is holding Israeli hostages. Fatah's military arm is fighting Israel in Gaza and the disputed territories. Fatah's military arm is being funded by Iran. The Biden administration is funding the P.A. and appeasing Iran. The Biden administration is trying to force Israel to accept a P.A.-run administration in Gaza after the war. And Ariane Tabatabai is still in her post at the Defense Department. The mainstream media says nothing about any of this because nothing can be allowed to destroy the left's driving narrative of Israeli oppression and Palestinian victimization. Biden's betrayal of Israel is widely attributed to his need to buy off the hard left of the Democratic Party. But his administration was rotten from the start, widely seeded with Obama-retread officials who are viscerally hostile to Israel. Some of them have histories of supporting Palestinian terrorist groups. Now Iran is said to be nearing the ability to make nuclear weapons. When it announces it has succeeded, the United States and the United Kingdom will doubtless say they did everything they could to stop it. And if Israel tries to defend itself against this nightmare scenario, the West will accuse it of aggression. The dots have been obvious for years. Connect them. The press conference at the Vatican on Thursday is the very first time that the Vatican has held a press conference about UFOs, aliens and “apparitions” since 1978. So this is a really big deal. It is being reported that the Vatican has decided to issue new guidelines “on aliens and how it will deal with potential encounters in the future”… The Vatican has announced that it is set to hold a press conference on “supernatural phenomena” tomorrow, and it will touch on aliens and how it will deal with potential encounters in the future. According to a notice on the Vatican’s website, it will kick of at noon tomorrow, and will feature three prominent Vatican members. Being held to “present the new provisions of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith for discerning between apparitions and other supernatural phenomena,” it will be led by Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernandex, Messenger Armando Matteo and Daniela Del Gaudio. If the Vatican feels a need to issue guidelines about how to “deal with potential encounters in the future”, that seems to imply that they believe that there will be “potential encounters in the future”. What do they know that they aren’t telling us? Probably a lot. The last time that the Vatican did something like this was all the way back in February 1978… The last time the Vatican’s doctrinal office issued norms for evaluating alleged apparitions and reports of supernatural events was in February 1978. At the time, the prefect, Cardinal Franjo Seper, said the norms were necessary given how news of alleged apparitions spreads rapidly thanks to the mass media. What has changed between then and now? One thing that has changed is that the current pope seems to be quite interested in the topic of aliens. In comments that he made near the end of 2023, Pope Francis seemed to suggest that aliens could actually be baptized… However, Pope Francis did touch on aliens at the end of last year, when he was talking about how early Christians discussed associating with “Jews and Gentiles” – which, for some reason, he compared to aliens. He said: “That was unthinkable. If, for example, tomorrow an expedition of Martians came, and some of them came to us, here…Martians, right? Green, with that long nose and big ears, just like children paint them…And one says, ‘But I want to be baptized!’ What would happen?” He didn’t answer his own question, but added: “It was never the ministry of the closed door, never,” So he plans to have an “open door” for the aliens? What would that look like? The producer of a new documentary entitled “God Versus Aliens” seems to believe that the Vatican wants to prepare us for the day when humanity finally makes contact with such beings… The documentary ‘God Versus Aliens’ is to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and reveal the Vatican’s secrets about UFOs. The award-winning filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee says that the Vatican publishing new guidance on apparitions means that the full disclosure about the UFO phenomena is getting closer. He said: “The Vatican has been studying UFOs for decades and even has its own Cardinal appointed to deal with first contact. From my research I believe that this new guidance on apparitions is proof that they know that UFOs are more than just physical crafts from other worlds and that they have a paranormal side to them.” What most people don’t realize is that the Vatican has been on the cutting edge of the search for extraterrestrial life for a long time. The Vatican Observatory in Rome is very well funded, and the Vatican also has a “research group” that uses the very high-powered equipment at the University of Arizona in Tucson… Many people are surprised to learn that the Vatican even has an observatory. The history of the Vatican Observatory goes back two and a half centuries. During its history, there has been some turmoil and several moves to escape the light and other hindrances that large cities, such as Rome, pose to doing astronomy. Therefore, more than a half-century ago the Vatican Observatory established a research group at the Steward Observatory of the University of Arizona in Tucson, while the Vatican Observatory’s headquarters remained in Italy. Needless to say, the Vatican isn’t going to tell us everything that they know right now. But a couple of things have become quite clear. Number one, the Vatican believes that extraterrestrial life exists. Number two, the Vatican plans to develop a positive relationship with any “aliens” that do make contact with humanity. Could all of this be setting us up for a great deception of absolutely epic proportions? While he was still alive, author Tom Horn made the following observation… Why the Vatican has taken this carefully designed and deliberate course over the last few years is the greater mystery, but implies knowledge on their part of facts yet hidden to most of the world that may hold far-reaching and historic implications. It also illustrates how Rome has wittingly or unwittingly set itself up to become the agent of mass end-times deception regarding “salvation from above.” That’s because, historically, there exists a clear pattern wherein man’s psychological need of a savior is displayed during times of distress—a time like today—when people look skyward for divine intervention. It is true. When things get bad enough, the world is going to be looking for a savior. And if a “superior race” appears on the scene that seems to have all the answers, many people out there will fully embrace them. For decades, books, movies and television shows have conditioned us to expect that someday we will interact with “aliens” from another planet. 100 years ago, everyone would have dismissed such talk as nonsense, but now we have been well prepared for the great deception that is eventually coming. Sadly, the Vatican seems to be quite ready to welcome “aliens” as their new best friends, and that is extremely unfortunate. They require companies to disclose information about their beneficial owners, senior officers, and other control persons to the federal government. Many small business owners create LLCs—limited liability companies—created to protect the owners from being personally liable for business debts or lawsuits against the business. An LLC creates a separation between your business assets and your personal assets. This is a “corporate veil.” But now the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network wants to know who you are, what you own, and where you are. Since this requirement has been implemented, a federal district court judge in Alabama declared the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) unconstitutional, ruling that the law’s mandatory disclosure requirements exceed Congress’ authority. However, the judge limited the scope of the ruling to apply only to the plaintiffs in the case. As expected, the federal government filed an appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. We’ll see what happens. Beneficial Ownership Information Report In the past, I have written about social credit scores, ESG scores, digital IDs, and 15-minute cities. All of those are in various stages of implementation. However, as of January 1, 2024, there is something mandatory for all small business owners: the BOI report. BOI stands for Beneficial Ownership Information Reports. If this report is not filed, the penalties will be severe. We are talking $500 daily fines and up to two years in jail. And if a business owner has established multiple businesses, they must file individually for each company. The BOI Report was enacted through the Corporate Transparency Act, and as of January, it has become a mandatory filing for all small business owners. Business owners who had a registered business before January 2024 have until the end of the year to file. Still, anyone who started a business in 2024 has just ninety days from creating their new business to file this report. All beneficial owners must file this report. However, banks and insurance agencies are exempt. So, the question then becomes, just who classifies as a beneficial owner? A beneficial owner is any individual who, directly or indirectly, exercises substantial control over a reporting company or owns or controls at least twenty-five percent of the ownership interests of a reporting company. The BOI Report has fifty-one questions, and only some owners will have to answer all fifty-one questions. However, all reporting parties must supply their full legal name, date of birth, and a nonexpired document, such as their passport or driver’s license, complete with a photo ID in either a JPG or PDF. Again, this report is under the United States Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN. You can file for a FinCEN Identifier, but you will still need to provide personal information to get one. Why is the government requiring this? You will probably receive the answer that this system is designed to stop money laundering and funding terrorism. But, in reality, the purpose of this report comes down to why and what they require of and from individuals. They want to know who you are, what you own, and where they can find you. Technology and surveillance have been taking over our lives for a while, but things are moving at an ever-changing and rapid pace. We are told this is for safety and is for transparency. However, that transparency only goes one way. For example, the government has a website called federalregister.gov. This site has an FAQ section where citizens can ask questions about new laws or requirements, such as the Beneficial Ownership Information report. One would notice the site’s typical response by looking at a screenshot from the FINCEN FAQ section regarding that report and requirement. There are two simple words used repeatedly: “No Comment.” This is designed to be transparent, but questions still need to be answered. Harvard Law School Last month, an online Harvard Law School forum explained this requirement for small business owners, announcing the implementation of the Corporate Transparency Act. The forum was published on September 30, 2022, and went into effect on January 1, 2024. Plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against the Treasury Department in November of 2022, alleging that the CTA’s (Corporate Transparency Act) disclosure requirements exceed Congress’s authority under Article I of the Constitution and violate the First, Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments. On March 1, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama held the Corporate Transparency Act (the “CTA”) unconstitutional. A Biblical Picture of Wickedness Ephesians 5:11 tells believers to “not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them.” Ephesians 6:12-13 reminds believers: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God so that you can resist in the evil day and, having done everything, stand firm.” First Peter 5:8 confirms that we are to “be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” In 2 Peter 2:13, Peter explains how false teachers do not try to hide their sins under the cover of darkness. They openly, in the daylight, pursue their greed and immorality. These verses paint a biblical picture of wickedness. There was a time when those who are of the world, those who do not accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, when they sinned, they tried to at least hide it through lies and deceit. Now, sin is proudly and publicly proclaimed and endorsed. Anyone who speaks out against or takes a stand against sin is labeled and seen as wicked. Evil is the perversion of what God has established. Romans 13 confirms that it was God’s plan for man to have government; however, that government was to seek and honor God and protect its people. A government that turns on its people. A government that surveils its people. A government that tracks its people. Is that the government God established? If not, then it is evil. I wonder if God warned about this when He spoke through His prophet Isaiah and said: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21). I don’t recall if I decided to give in to the drowsiness I felt or if I just dozed off in the midst of studying. Suddenly, the loud blaring of a trumpet awoke me from a deep sleep, and I instantly thought, “This is it, the Rapture!” That was fifty years ago. I had just finished reading The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey, and for a fleeting moment, I imagined an upward pull of my body toward the ceiling. What I might have regarded as signs of the approaching Tribulation five decades ago pale in significance to the signs that abound all around us today. Yet we still wait and feel a bit impatient for the Lord to intervene in a world that’s gone crazy. I remember an illustration that JD Farag used a few years back. He compared the events of our world to the stretching of a rubber band, which at some point will break. When I look at today’s world, particularly recent events in America, it seems as though we are well past the snapping of the rubber band. The Lord is holding things together until the appointed time; He’s keeping the rubber band intact, for now. In the U.S., inflation continues to soar far beyond the official numbers with no end in sight. The impact of higher insurance rates for cars and homes, along with hikes in property taxes, will push many more families to the breaking point. I’m amazed that we still exist as a nation. I often wonder if America’s enemies are not attacking, either from within or without, because they sense it will soon implode and they can pick up the pieces. Is it any wonder that we grow increasingly fatigued as we wait for Jesus to take us home? If you feel increasingly weary in your wait for Jesus’ appearing, I understand. That’s why I want to share a couple of truths from Scripture that recently helped with my Rapture weariness. The Father Has Set the Time I recently came across these verses from Psalm 75 that brought a degree of relief to my impatience: “At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity. When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants, it is I who keep steady its pillars.” Selah (vv. 2-3). Although these verses don’t refer to the Rapture, they speak to God’s judgments upon the world that will occur soon after Jesus takes us home to glory. They reminded me of His sovereignty over all things. He sees all that’s happening around us today, and He will surely respond. It’s not a matter of if the Rapture happens soon, followed by the day-of-the-Lord judgments (see 1 Thessalonians 5:1-10), but when. Jesus referred to the Father’s role in setting the timing for end-time events in both Matthew 24:36 and Acts 1:7. Perhaps it’s because we cannot know the day or the hour that the Lord instructs us to remain watchful (Matthew 24:44). These thoughts helped soothe my anxious feelings. Contrary to what the scoffers tell us, the Rapture and seven-year Tribulation will most certainly happen. The two-thousand-year gap between Jesus’ command for us to wait and today has not nullified Jesus’ solemn promise to take us to Heaven (John 14:2-3). If anything, what we see today intensifies our expectation of meeting Jesus in the air in the near future. Although waiting for Jesus’ appearing is not easy at times, we know it will surely happen because God the Father long ago determined when it would happen. We trust His perfect timing for all things. It Will Be Worth the Wait Waiting for the Rapture reminds me of past vacations where the arrival at the destination made the arduous journey to get there worthwhile. When Jesus appears, the glory we will then experience will instantly make us forget about dreary weeks and months of waiting for it to happen. The greatest tragedy that flows from the silence regarding the Rapture in most pulpits today is that it focuses the attention of the saints on this life where they find no solace for these perilous times. Some hear that the church will prevail against the evils of our time. Others believe that our world will eventually return to a sense of normalcy. It’s because we know what Scripture says about wonders ahead for us in eternity that we can face the extreme wickedness, lawlessness, deception, and violence around us. Hearing about the promise of Jesus’ appearing reminds us that a far better day is coming, one that will exceed anything we can now imagine! Paul summed up the New Testament mindset regarding the fact that whatever we suffer in the interim, our experience at Jesus’ appearing will be so much worth the wait. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18). Romans 8:23-24 clarifies that the apostle had the Rapture in mind when he wrote about “glory” ahead for us. It’s at Jesus’ appearing that we will fully experience our “adoption as sons” and receive “the redemption of our bodies.” Imagine enduring all the affliction and persecution that Paul experienced and then saying that our experience when we get to Heaven will be so spectacular that it’s beyond comparison with all the grief of this life. The days may be long in this vale of tears, but oh, what a joyous and glorious day awaits when the trumpet sounds (for real) and we meet Jesus in the air.
