Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Bible. This is the one book that dares to predict the future not once, not twice, but hundreds of times with 100% accuracy. The Bible tells us in the last days, certain things are going to happen, and friends, we’re seeing those things happen before our very eyes. The Bible says that the Jewish people, who are God’s chosen people, would be scattered to the four corners of the Earth, and then there’s a sign of the end times specifically telling us that you will know you’re in the last days when this happens. The Bible said that the same group of people, the Jews, who would be scattered, would be regathered. On May 14th, 1948, Bible prophecy was fulfilled before our very eyes, and a prophetic time clock began to tick—that was the day Israel became a nation. The Bible said not only would Israel be regathered in her land, but that she would be surrounded by enemies and that she would be attacked from her north by a large force identified as Gog and Magog. When you look to the north of Israel today, you find Russia. Many Bible commentators believe that Magog is a reference to Russia. Look at what is happening right now in the Middle East. We have Israel under attack. Of course, on October 7th, she was attacked, and 1,400 Israeli citizens were slaughtered, some decapitated, some burned alive, and then another 239 were taken hostage. Now, we have a new potential conflict developing again in the north of Israel with the group Hezbollah. Hezbollah is financed by Russia. Russia is like the Puppet Master working through Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and hostility against Israel. I just read an article that said the Wagner Group, a Russian state-funded army, is providing Hezbollah with sophisticated anti-aircraft weapons. One report described Hezbollah as the monster to the North of Israel coming against her and threatening to attack her. After Hamas attacked Israel, the leader of Hamas came out and made this statement: “The existence of Israel is what causes all the pain, blood, and tears. It is Israel, not us. We are the victims of the occupation.” So says the man who’s in charge of the terrorist organization that slaughtered innocent people. You see how wicked this whole thing is? Now, here’s where it gets interesting for the Bible student. Back to the Bible predicting the future. In Ezekiel 37, the Bible speaks about Israel being regathered in the last days. Ezekiel 38 talks about Magog attacking her. One of the allies of Magog is called “Persia.” In 1935, Persia changed her name to Iran. How can Israel make peace with people who want her total destruction? We hear of a two-state solution, but Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran have all openly said they want the complete destruction of Israel. So, we say, “Well, they need to have a ceasefire. Israel needs to stand down.” Let’s extrapolate this out and compare Israel and America. Take the size of our nation compared to Israel and put it in this context. Let’s just say that you woke up tomorrow and found out that 48,000 Americans had been slaughtered, murdered, and beheaded and that another 8,000 plus were taken as hostages. What would America do? Would we say, “Well, we’ll just stand down”? I don’t think so. Look at what happened in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor or in the aftermath of 9/11. We struck back. We have to defend our nation. That’s a dilemma that the people of Israel find themselves in right now. Here’s the other interesting thing: after this force known as Magog, which could be Russia, attacks with their ally Persia, which is Iran, the Bible says that God is going to destroy the majority of this army and He is going to pour His Spirit out on the people of Israel. So, a great spiritual awakening is coming for the Jewish people. In the meantime, we are to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and try to understand what’s happening in that part of the world. There was a march on the White House just the other day of 100,000 people chanting slogans like “Death to Israel” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Understand what that means. What they are saying is that they want a Palestine, if you will, that has no Israel. That has no Jewish people. This is anti-Semitism at its very worst. We, as Christians, need to understand that the Bible tells us that the Jews are God’s chosen people. We as Christians need to understand that God gave the so-called land of Palestine to the Jewish people, to Israel, which they have occupied in perpetuity for 3,000 years. They are not always ruling it, but they’ve been in that land that God gave them. We need to understand that we should be praying for them. God gave us the Bible through the Jews. God gave us our Messiah as a Jewish man. The Bible says, God speaking, “I will bless those that bless you [speaking of the Jewish people in Israel], and I will curse those that curse you” (Genesis 12:3). It’s in the best interest of our nation to pray for and support Israel. It’s in the best interest of every Christian to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). God is at work, and friends, we are seeing Bible prophecy fulfilled before our very eyes. Coming back to what I said in the beginning, the Bible is the one book that dares to predict the future with 100% accuracy. Let me sum this all up in one final statement: Jesus Christ is coming back again. Anti-Semitism and the Fig Tree – Terry James - https://terryjamesprophecyline.com/2023/11/05/anti-semitism-and-the-fig-tree/ The chants ring ominously from college students on the East Coast: “There is no place to hide; Israel is committing genocide.” College students on the West Coast shout in unison: “There is no place to hide; we want Jewish genocide.” These and variations of anti-Semitic chanting, obviously orchestrated and coordinated, are increasing throughout colleges and universities across the United States. The attacks unleashed against Israel on October 7 have seemingly unleashed hatred reminiscent of 1939 Nazi Germany. Students in the East Coast incident above were attacking a college library where Jewish students were hiding in fear, while violent banging on locked doors was accompanied by the above choruses and the further demand: “Let us in! Let us in!” One young Jewish woman stated that she was told by those at her university—by a professor, I take it—that she should take off all of her jewelry with Jewish symbolism. Anything—like the Star of David—that would mark her as a Jew shouldn’t be worn so the pro-Palestinian protesters wouldn’t be triggered. Another young woman said she was told by a college official that she should perhaps go into the attic while the pro-Palestinian mob was ranting, trying to get into the library. The girl asked why she, in the United States of America, should have to hide in an attic rather than be totally safe in a room with windows and the freedom to move about unafraid. The library in question is now disdainfully being called the Anne Frank Library—referring, of course, to the young girl who hid from the Nazis during the persecution of the Jews in Germany during Hitler’s regime. We who have studied Bible prophecy over many years have understood that Israel is destined to be at the center of the wrap-up of human history while Christ’s Second Advent approaches. As a matter of fact, a good number of us—despite the objections of many in seminaries who see no relationship of Israel to the fig tree parable—have concluded that Jesus’ Olivet Discourse prophecy concerning the fig tree is significant in framing the general time when we will recognize the nearness of His Second Coming. Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Matthew 24:32–35) The fig tree in Jesus’ parables is considered by many to represent the nation Israel. I believe this is especially true in the case of the Matthew 24 Olivet Discourse reference. And, like the Lord said, we should recognize how near He is to returning; He is right at the door when we see these things come to pass. Jesus earlier said in that same discourse: When you see all these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your head, for your redemption draws near. (Luke 21:28) We’ve gone over time after time all the things Jesus was predicting for the very end of the Church Age. And here He talks about the chief sign of them all: the fig tree—the nation Israel—being front and center when all these things take place. I previously posted an article titled “The Zechariah Effect.” The prophet said Israel would become “a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone” to all the nations of earth. There is no doubt in the mind of anyone who hasn’t been deliberately hiding from today’s news that Israel and anti-Semitism are dominating all news media. The mainstream forums—i.e., The New York Times, Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.—are mostly calling for Israel to back off from punishing the Hamas in Gaza. They are most generally calling for a ceasefire of some sort. Absent from their reports is much about the bloody atrocities inflicted by Hamas upon innocent Israelis and even visitors from America and other countries. The following puts into vivid perspective how quickly things are shaping up to produce that “Zechariah effect.” Since Hamas initiated a brutal and barbaric terrorist attack against Israel and the Jewish people on October 7th, many Americans—Jewish and not—have mourned alongside the world’s only Jewish state and have understood the necessity of a swift and decisive military counterattack. But in the green quads and ivory towers of American academia, a very different reaction has been brewing. For the past two decades, the David Horowitz Freedom Center has shone a rare spotlight on the genocidal Jew hatred emanating from our college campuses. Student organizations like the Hamas-funded and Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Students for Justice in Palestine have infiltrated our universities and turned them training grounds for the next generation of jihadists. In the wake of Hamas’s barbarism, its slaughter and mutilation of innocent Jews, its campaign of rape and torture and beheading, we can now bear witness to the effects that two decades of Jew-hating pro-terror propaganda have wrought in our institutions of higher learning. At Harvard, arguably America’s most prestigious university, over 30 student organizations signed onto a statement declaring that they “hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence.” Not to be outdone by Harvard, the Students for Justice in Palestine chapter at Brown University released its own statement (co-signed by the Graduate Labor Organization and Teaching Assistant Labor Organization, as well as 25 additional organizations) stating that: “We, the undersigned, hold the Israeli regime and its allies unequivocally responsible for all suffering and loss of life, Palestinian or Israeli.” At Cornell University, SJP held a rally to “Stop Israel’s Annihilation of Gaza.” History Professor Russell Rickford who spoke at the rally declared Hamas’s barbaric attack which included the rape of women, the beheading of babies, and the deaths of entire families as “exhilarating.” (“Universities Celebrate the Mass Murder of Jews-American Academia Has Descended into Barbarism,” Sara Dogan, Frontpage, October 26, 2023) My good friend, James Michael Hile, summed up exactly where all this is showing we stand on God’s prophetic timeline: After observing the coming to life of “the fig tree and all the trees” after World War II and during the second half of the 20th century (1950-2000), we can be assured, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the events that take place just before Jesus’ return are nearing fulfillment. This means His coming is “near, right at the door.” According to Jesus’ words, when “the fig tree and all the trees” put forth leaves (come alive), we are to absolutely and confidently “know” the Kingdom of God is near, and the generation that is living at that time “will not pass away until all is fulfilled.” The preponderance of scriptural and global evidence is overwhelming that we are the generation Jesus was talking about. It took place on the night of November 9-10, 1938 in Germany. During that dreadful night, a critical event took place that would seal the fate of six million European Jews. That was 85 years ago. The event is known as Kristallnacht or “The Night of Broken Glass.” The reason given by the Nazis was the assassination of German official Ernst Von Rath, shot two days prior by Herschel Grynszpan, a Polish teenager reacting to his parents’ deportation. In reality, the boycott/pogrom of Jewish synagogues, schools, businesses and homes, resulting in the death of almost 100 Jewish people and the destruction of 7,500 properties, was extremely well planned and anything but a reaction to the death of a German official. As a result, 30,000 Jewish people were sent to concentration camps. Historians agree that Kristallnacht was the onset of the Holocaust, shifting Nazi antisemitism from mere rhetoric to pure violence and murder. It set in motion the death factories aimed at accomplishing “the final solution to the Jewish question.” They almost succeeded! This year, more than ever, we need to revisit the 1930s and we must come to the sobering realization that that ominous era of destructive Jew hatred is upon us again, and this time, it is global. I have been a watchman for the last 23 years, and I often warned people that things would get very dicey for the Jewish people at some point in the future, but frankly, I never thought that I would witness this level of hatred and bloody violence in my lifetime, and yet, here we are! The atrocities committed by Hamas in Israel on October 7 were straight out of the Nazi playbook, but what I was not expecting, at least not at that level, was the vocal and violent hatred of Israel and the Jewish people all around the globe. Within a week or two at the most, it seemed that the world had forgotten about the 1400 Israeli victims brutally maimed, raped, beheaded, burned alive and blown to pieces, not to mention the 200+ hostages taken by Hamas. Much of the world is now focusing on what they call a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The US is pushing for Israel to accept a cease-fire, re-labeling it with the woke term of “humanitarian pause.” A pause that would accomplish nothing except a respite allowing Hamas to regroup, re-organize and better prepare for their next wave of terror. In the meantime, US Universities across the nation, including Ivy League campuses, are showing their true colors. Their antisemitism is no longer subdued or cloaked in anti-Zionism. The monster is out in the open on a bloody rampage. They scream for the death of Jewish people, like in the case of Cornell University in New York. What about the violent punching of a Jewish student at UMass? The violence doesn’t stop on campuses. It overflows onto the streets of America and leaks all the way to the rest of the world. Just days ago, an angry mob broke into the Makhachkala International Airport in Russia’s Dagestan. they wanted to get to the Israeli travelers coming in on an El-Al flight from Tel Aviv. The rage demonstrated by the mob had all the markings of a modern-day pogrom. It was controlled and stopped by local authorities, but it clearly shows the level of animosity against the Jews. Killing is definitely an option. Additionally, in Paris, France and in some of its suburbs, people have been painting Jewish stars of David on buildings and private residences to identify where Jewish people live. This too is straight out of the Kristallnacht playbook, not to mention the yellow star patch that Jewish people (including my family) were forced to wear in order to be easily identified by the Nazis. Are Jewish people being identified to be singled out and persecuted? This too, has all the markings of an organized campaign to separate the Jews from the rest of the population. Finally, on the streets of Thousand Oaks, California, Paul Kessler, a Jewish man holding an Israeli flag at a street corner opposite a group of pro-Palestinians brandishing the modern Palestinian flag, was hit by a pro-Palestinian protester. The Jewish man died in the hospital hours later. In my most recent book The Normalization of Antisemitism: When the Longest Hatred Becomes the New Normal, I identify ten steps toward the complete normalization of antisemitism: Apathy, lack of education, desensitization, low or incorrect reporting, no accountability, empowerment, demonization of the defenders, increased persecution of Jews and defenders, encouragement to kill, and, mass murder of Jews. I believe that the first nine of these criteria are in place, leaving only the mass murder of Jews as the final step towards the complete annihilation of the Jews. Looking at the events in front of our eyes, I might have been too conservative. The murder of Jews appears to also be on the current agenda of hatred that is spreading all over the world. Kristallnacht was also a blatant boycott of Jewish businesses. Outside of the ongoing Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS), which has been going against Israel and Jewish people worldwide since 2005, we see new levels of antisemitism and double standards in a lot of areas. Amazon recently denied the publishing of a Christian book by renowned Pastor and author Dr. Mark Hitchcock on the war between Hamas and Israel, titled “What’s Next: The Israel-Gaza War: Connecting Today’s Headlines to Tomorrow’s Prophetic Events.” It was claimed that the algorithms caught parts of the book that contained “offensive or controversial content that promotes, incites, or glorifies hatred, violence, racial, sexual or religious intolerance or promotes organizations with such views.” Incidentally, Amazon has no issues with selling all kinds of books and other items with the slogan, “From the River to the Sea, Palestine shall be free.” which has nothing to do with colonization or land occupation but is a euphemism for the complete destruction of Israel and the killing of all Jews. If you do not see what is happening against the Jews today, beware because the Jews are definitely the canaries in the goldmine of civilization. A global explosion against Christians and conservatives is next and not far behind. In the meantime, much can be done to come to the rescue of Jewish people. My people are scared, and Christians now have a great opportunity to reach out, rescue, and shelter their Jewish friends and neighbors. Kristallnacht 1938 was localized to Germany, eventually spreading to greater Europe. Kristallnacht 2.0 is a global pogrom against the Jews! God Is Taking Note Of Individuals And Nations Who Are Cursing His People – By Dean Dwyer - https://harbingersdaily.com/god-is-taking-note-of-individuals-and-nations-who-are-cursing-his-people/ In our current social and political paradigm, people tend to see things two dimensionally – usually to the left or to the right. Of course, as current trends bear witness to, this is causing a great deal of social and political friction, which often spills over into violence. Sometimes this is agitated by nefarious forces who have a deeper agenda and sometimes it occurs organically, aided by a spiritual enemy who hates mankind, who hates the Jews and who hates God. The latest trigger point for demonically inspired violence against Jews is the war that Israel is conducting against Hamas and Hezbollah. Aside from the spiritual paradigm with which Christians view and stand with Israel, most rational people (even unbelievers) would have a sense that sympathizing with Hamas right now is akin to endorsing the kidnap, torture, rape, beheading and murder of Jews. People who thought that the horrors of the Holocaust were long behind them have suddenly been shaken by a terrifying sense of foreboding as people the world over call for the annihilation of Jews once again. In the early stages of Hitler’s plan to exterminate the Jews, perhaps ordinary people in far-off nations would have pleaded ignorance to the Jewish plight on the basis that the news didn’t reach them. However, this time around, the evidence of Jew-hatred is there for all to see since antisemites cannot resist posting their abhorrent material online. It must be said that it is vitally important for Christians right now to hold a Biblical worldview. In short, this means that the believer clings tightly to the very Scriptures that offer practical and spiritual wisdom that enables us to consider everything we encounter in the world from a godly perspective. For all people (believers or unbelievers), when faced with a problem or challenge, our worldview becomes the source and foundation on which we make our actions or response. This means that whatever content we filter into our worldview will determine how we act, speak and think. Therefore, it is probably of little surprise that the most vulgar displays of antisemitism have been found on college and university campuses because many colleges and universities of this era are indoctrinating their students with politically progressive and unbiblical ideas. The fundamental reason behind this is that students are taught what to think rather than how to think. As an American newscaster once said, “They [professors] dominate and intimidate the students. If you go up against them, your grade often suffers. There is a tyranny in higher education that is gravely harming this nation.” Another reason that colleges and universities seem to be hotbeds for hatred is that many are taught that the only paradigm with which to view the world is the “oppressor” and “oppressed” class. Ostensibly, the education system (including lower grade schools) has sought to address cultural and racial prejudice but has in fact inflamed the culture and race wars. For example, James Logan High School in California offers a course in ethnic studies and social justice that aims to teach students to challenge and criticize power, oppression, capitalism, white supremacy, imperialism and colonialism. From their website we read, “Ethnic Studies encompasses the 5 C’s: Cultural Competence, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Community and Creativity. It is curriculum relevant and accurate to the cultures in our classroom and it is a path to understanding and appreciating everyone’s identity, the factors that create it, and the evolution of identity. Ethnic studies will help students understand how our social construct is affected by race and the root causes of oppression, power, and privilege.” Furthermore, the New Haven Unified School District’s Ethnic Studies and Social Justice Academy (which is part of James Logan High School) adopt the motto: “Learn, Lead, Liberate” which features a (socialist) raised fist grasping a pencil. Don’t be fooled by the benign sounding name, “ethnic studies”. It is simply Critical Race Theory in disguise. It is a cleverly crafted deception that, on the face of it, offers a unifying cultural learning experience while essentially promoting hostility amongst races. In fact, recent reports indicate that Minnesotan lawmakers are introducing changes to their education system which are among some of the most radical in the country. The changes aren’t about education – they are about incitement to take action to disrupt and dismantle America’s fundamental social and political institutions. Minnesota’s new K-12 social studies standards exemplified this ideology as it requires students to organize with others to resist systemic and coordinated exercises of power against marginalized, oppressed groups. Education institutions are no longer focused on raising socially adjusted, educated people. New education standards and related benchmarks are focused on instilling a seed within people that leads to hostility against any who belong to the “oppressor” class. To give examples, kindergartners must “retell a story about an unfair experience that conveys a power imbalance.” First-graders must “identify examples of ethnicity, equality, liberation and systems of power and use those examples to construct meanings for those terms.” How times have changed. In first grade I was focused on colouring in and producing poorly made craft items which my family would pretend to love. Our young adults are supposed to be viewed as leaders of the future. Sadly, their education experience has led them to believe in vulgar binaries in which they must place themselves and the rest of humanity. When I was young, we often played war games. The premise was simple – there were good guys and there were bad guys. And, just like those pretend war games in our youth, it would appear that many view the world through a similar and unalterable paradigm – good guys (oppressed) and bad guys (oppressors). That is why, despite the horrors of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, many refuse to see Israel as oppressed. Long ago, it was determined by social justice crusaders that Israel will perpetually fall into the category of oppressor and because of the oppressor-oppressed narrative, people assign themselves a moral licence to identify and hate the oppressor (Israel) without disrupting their conscience. Antisemitism is an early indicator of a troubled culture and if the terrorist attack by Hamas teaches us anything, it is that Western nations are in deeper trouble than they thought. Many may claim that the virtue of free speech must be upheld. But free speech which abuses this privilege to spew Jew-hatred must be denounced and condemned. Free speech of the kind we are hearing throughout our nations is not the hallmark of a free and vibrant culture – it is the hallmark of a culture which is in great spiritual peril. In 2022, Deborah Lipstadt, a noted historian and the US Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, said this: “Antisemitism is like the canary in the coal mine of democracy. It is a threat, a warning. If you’re an antisemite, then you think, well, the justice system isn’t fair because it’s controlled by Jews. The government isn’t fair because it’s controlled by Jews. The media isn’t fair because it’s controlled by Jews. You lose faith in the democratic institutions. As a historian, I can think of no democracy that tolerated antisemitism and remained a vibrant democracy.” Deborah is correct. But the peril is even greater than that. Embracing Jew-hatred is not only an indicator of cultural decline but also of God’s impending judgement. The evidence of this is found not only in the Bible but also the history books. Egypt, Philistia, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, the Byzantines, the Crusaders, the Spanish Empire, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. They all touched the apple of God’s eye and felt God’s hand of judgement. As Christians, we must not only pray for Israel but pray for our own nations. God is taking note of individuals and nations who are cursing His people. Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: Obama’s stab at moral equivalency - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Former occupant of the Oval Office Barack Obama tried to make a case that everyone is complicit for the violence by Hamas because of allowing the “occupation” by Israel. Obama, continuing to stir the pot of leftism with his former staffers on “Pod Save America” November 3, said, “If there’s any chance of us being able to act constructively, to do something, it will require an admission of complexity. And maintaining, what on the surface may seem contradictory ideas — that what Hamas did was horrific, and there’s no justification for it; and what is also true is that the occupation [sic] and what’s happening to Palestinians is unbearable.” Apparently, Obama couldn’t resist lecturing America once again against Israel. Let’s be clear: There is no moral equivalency in what Hamas did to Israel. Anyone with any sense can see that raping, torturing, dismembering, ripping babies from the womb, killing kids in front of parents and then killing the parents cannot be justified in any case. Nor can it be used as justification for some phantom “occupation” by a clearly establish nation that is often attacked from all sides. Let’s also be clear: There is no Israeli “occupation” in Gaza. Gaza was the first experiment forced by President George W Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that the “Palestinians” could live side by side in peace with Israel. Israelis left Gaza under gunfire and missiles and it hasn’t stopped since September 2005. This is not about poor oppressed “Palestinians.” It’s about hatred for Israel and the extinction of Jews. Let’s also recall how Obama instigated the overthrow of stable governments across the Middle East in favor of terrorist-sympathizers—all in the name of democracy. December 2011 found the first fruits of Obama’s Arab Spring in Egypt were an astounding victory for the Muslim Brotherhood, Obama’s terrorist-sponsoring, Sharia-promoting foreign policy partner. The initial count showed the Muslim Brotherhood taking 45% of the seats in Egypt’s parliament and the even more radical Salafist Muslims taking another 20%. The Washington Post reported that “Tunisia and Morocco have both elected Islamist majorities to parliament, while Libya has yet to announce dates for its first elections, Islamist groups have emerged as a strong force there…they also play a strong opposition role in Yemen.” In short, Obama engineered a radical Islamic takeover of much of the Middle East in league with terrorists. Obama aided and abetted the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, Hamas, and other terrorist organizations. They swore to create a “civilization jihad” in the US and to drive Israel into the sea. On November 25, 2011, for example, Ynet News reported speakers at a Muslim Brotherhood rally of 5,000 people in Cairo often repeated “one day we’ll kill all the Jews,” calling them “treacherous,” vowing “jihad for the sake of Palestine.” Christ said in Matthew 7:15-16 said, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You shall know them by their fruits.” For Obama to lecture us about moral equivalency between terrorism and Israeli occupation of its own land is, say it with me, Stupidocrisy. Before God’s judgment of the earth by water, people were very wicked—so wicked, in fact, that God was sorry He made them. Here’s how the Bible describes this time: “The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil” (Genesis 6:5 NLT). Yet in the midst of this dark environment was an individual who walked with God. His name was Enoch, and he showed that it is possible to live a godly life in an ungodly world. Enoch also was a prototype of a generation of people who will not see death but will be caught up to meet the Lord in what the Bible calls the Rapture. And we could be that generation. The Bible says, “Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him” (Genesis 5:23–24 NLT). When you’re walking somewhere, it means you’re making progress. You’re moving toward a destination, going from one place to another. In the original language, the word the Bible uses for “walking” carries a lot of meaning. We also find a helpful verse in Amos 3, which says, “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” (verse 3 NLT). Together, these passages give us a good picture of what it means to walk with God. “Walk together” means walking in tandem or harmony. Think of a bicycle for two, a tandem cycle. If the rider in front is pedaling away while the rider in back is hitting the brakes, that is going to slow things down. The same is true of two people in a canoe. They both have to work together in perfect rhythm. If one person digs in the paddle like a brake, it will hinder both of them from going where they want to go. The idea is that both need to get into harmony. Both need to move together. And that is what it means to walk with God. As followers of Christ, we need to get into harmony with God. It doesn’t mean that God needs to get into harmony with us. But often we think that is the case. We want God to bless the plans that we’ve made apart from Him. Jesus said, “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” (John 15:7 NLT). We like the second half of the verse about asking for anything we want. But let’s not forget the first half: “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you . . .” If we’re doing that, then we’ll start asking for what is aligned with God’s will. And that’s what prayer is all about. In the same way, to walk with God means to get into harmony with Him. Are you walking with God today?
