This morning, as I was preparing to leave the restaurant where I usually eat breakfast, a long-time friend motioned to me and asked if I had been watching the news. A man sitting at the table with him said, “It is scary, isn’t it?” My friend recently told me he has been diagnosed with kidney failure, and he might not live very long. When he asked if I had been watching the news and the man sitting with him said it is scary, I replied, “It depends on how we look at it. The news is coming right out of the Bible, and it could mean that we will soon have new bodies that will never get sick or die.” Concerning the news and Israel’s war with Hamas: on Oct. 23, 2023, highly respected expert Bible prophecy teacher Amir Tsarfati wrote,
On Oct. 26, 2023, Joel Rosenberg, editor-in-chief of All Israel News and All Arab News, wrote that a former lieutenant colonel in IDF intelligence asked him, “Can you imagine how many Israelis will die if Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas get The Bomb?” Then, the former Israeli officer answered his own question,
On Oct. 27, 2023, Dr. David Jeremiah authored an article titled “It’s Time to Sound the Alarm: Prophecy Is Coming to Life Before Our Eyes.” Dr. Jeremiah wrote,
Instead of letting the news scare you, rejoice and sound the alarm. We do not know the day or the hour that Jesus will come for His Church, but we can see it approaching and know when it is near, and the events in Israel appear to indicate that it is near. Christians will soon see their deceased Christian loved ones; a multitude that no one can number will soon be saved; all Israel will be saved. Following the Apocalypse, there will be one thousand years of peace, justice, and righteousness on earth, etc., so anticipate the soon fulfillment of God’s promises and sound the alarm that Jesus is coming soon. Here are more events that recently made the news that seem to indicate that the end of the Church Age is near: One, concerning natural disasters increasing in frequency and intensity at the end of the age: on Oct. 30, 2023, Hurricane Otis struck Acapulco, and a nearby weather station recorded a 205-mph wind gust. This was one of the highest wind gusts ever recorded on earth (the record is 253 mph); it killed more than forty people, injured many, and damaged or destroyed an estimated 274,000 houses and buildings. (More: A supervolcano in Italy has caused more than 2,500 earthquakes since September. The most powerful was 4.2. It did not cause any damage, but tens of thousands of citizens are constantly on edge and ready to evacuate.) (More: On Nov. 3, 2023, a 6.4 earthquake struck Nepal, killing more than 150 people and injuring more than 100.) Two, concerning the Biden administration’s claim that America’s border with Mexico is secure: on Oct. 31, 2023, four U.S. Senators said they recently visited the border and were told that the U.S. Border Patrol has found explosive devices on some border crossers in recent days. Sen. John Barrasso, Chair of the Senate Republican Conference, said, “It is painfully clear that… our country is really at an increased threat for a terrorist attack.” Three, God said no weapon formed against Israel will prosper (Isa. 54:17). Concerning the tunnels in Gaza: >On Nov 2, 2023, Walla News recently reported that Israel has started using robots and explosive devices to clear some of the tunnels. They added that a senior officer in the southern command said, “We are going to collapse the entrances and the tunnels on them. It will become a death zone. They made a mistake; they chose to be in a place they could not escape from. They will die in the tunnels.” >Amir Tsarfati recently said, “The flaw in this tunnel system is that it needs gas for generators to power the ventilation system. So, while there is food and water in Gaza, as well as electricity in most areas, gas is very difficult to find. This is because the IDF has confiscated all the gas they can find. No gas, no ventilators. No ventilators, no air. No air, the terrorists will be forced to scurry out of their holes where they will surrender or be killed.” (More: On Nov. 2, 2023, Israel claimed that it has already destroyed more than one hundred tunnels.) Four, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on Nov. 2, 2023, Russia’s ambassador to the UN told the UN Security Council that Israel does not have the right to self-defense under international law in its fight against Hamas because Israel is an occupying state. He said this was confirmed by the UN International Court in 2004. (More: For several years, it has been Israeli policy to notify Russia before Israel struck Iranian or Syrian targets in Syria. Israel did this to limit the possibility of accidentally killing Russian troops. On Nov. 3, 2023, it was reported that Israel has ceased that policy due to a deteriorating relationship between Russia and Israel.) Five, concerning false teachers: on Nov. 1, 2023, Pope Francis called for the two-state solution (division of Israel). The man just does not seem to care or know what the Bible says on many subjects (supports world government, world religion, putting RFID chips in people, supports the climate change agenda, protects gay priests, serves communion to politicians that push abortion, etc., and now he wants to divide Israel). Six, concerning world government: on Nov. 2, 2023, it was reported that World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Ghebreyesus wants the nations to speed up their work on the International Pandemic Treaty (Accords). Control over the healthcare of everyone on earth during a pandemic is not enough for Ghebreyesus. He also wants to control freedom of speech. As soon as possible, Ghebreyesus wants to control what people hear during a pandemic and to censor (silence) those that spread so-called false or misleading information (those that warn people about the dangers of vaccinations, wearing a mask, the climate change agenda, world government, etc.). The report did not say this; past reports reveal that he wants to control who can travel (by requiring digital passports), require people to have a digital ID, etc. (My opinion: Sound the alarm because a satanic world government is rising.) Seven, concerning Israel’s war with Hamas: Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023 >It was reported that Israel got into a battle with Hamas terrorists on the previous day, and the terrorists used about one hundred women and children as human shields. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023 >An Israeli official said Israel has broken through Hamas’ front line of defense in the north part of the Gaza Strip, has penetrated deep into the Strip, and is now at the gates of Gaza City. >Israel reported that its troops have surrounded Gaza City; they are encountering landmines, booby traps, and hit-and-run attacks from tunnels, but they are advancing. >The U.S. reported that Sec. of State Blinken will visit Israel tomorrow to push for a temporary, localized pause in the fighting, but Netanyahu said, “We are advancing … Nothing will stop us.” >There was a sharp escalation of attacks and counterattacks between Hezbollah in Lebanon and Israel. >The Russian-paid Wagner Group of fighters announced plans to send air defense systems to Hezbollah in Lebanon. >Israel struck a convoy of ambulances that Israel said were being used to transport Hamas weapons and troops (using ambulances to transport weapons and troops is a war crime). Friday, Nov. 3, 2023 >Hezbollah has started using more powerful weapons against Israel. >Iranian-backed militias from Iraq and Syria have started moving forces into Lebanon to strengthen Hezbollah. >The Israeli military said it has troops deployed and ready in case Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah urges his forces to attack Israel. >Nasrallah said preventing a regional war depends on stopping Israel’s attacks on Gaza. >Netanyahu rejected U.S. Sec. of State Blinken’s call for a temporary cease-fire in Gaza. >Israel captured a Hamas stronghold in northern Gaza and seized a trove of intelligence information, including maps, orders for Hamas troops, personal information on commanders and troops, and more. >Israeli inspectors found oxygen concentrators used for aerating tunnels hidden in boxes of cookies supposedly destined for Palestinians in Gaza. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 >Turkey’s Pres. Erdogan recalled his ambassador to Israel and severed ties with Israel’s Prime Min. Netanyahu (Israel had already recalled its ambassador to Turkey to protect him from violent demonstrators). >Iran is trying to recruit suicide bombers to attack targets inside Israel. >The invasion of Gaza is extremely violent, and it could last months. >Some Hamas troops are pretending to be civilians and trying to sneak out of Gaza to avoid being killed by Israel. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023 >Israel’s military gave the people in Gaza a 4-hour window today to leave Gaza City and move south in the Gaza Strip. (They asked people to get out so they will not be accidentally killed by the fighting, stray bombs, etc.) >Israel’s military said they have cut Gaza in two (Gaza north and Gaza south). >Israeli troops found a large stash of rifles, grenades, explosives, suicide drones, and missiles in a home in northern Gaza (the house was more like a warehouse than a home). >Israel destroyed a weapons lab that made explosives near the house. >A nuclear-powered U.S. submarine armed with nuclear cruise missiles has arrived in the Middle East. Monday, Nov. 6, 2023 (Day 30 of the war) >About 30 rockets were fired out of Lebanon into Israel, and the IDF said it is responding with artillery fire in the direction the rockets are coming from. >Following intense fighting, Israel captured a Hamas compound, observation towers, training center, terrorist tunnels, and killed several terrorists, including several Hamas commanders. >Israeli troops had advanced deep into Gaza city. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 >Israel located Hamas terrorists in a building near one of the Gaza hospitals. The Israeli air force struck the building, and there were several large secondary explosions, indicating that Hamas was storing a lot of weapons and explosives near the hospital (storing weapons and explosives near a hospital is a violation of the Geneva Convention and other rules of war). >Israel discovered tunnel shafts at a children’s amusement park. >Netanyahu said there will be no general ceasefire in Gaza without the release of the hostages. >Terrorists are attacking inside Israel’s borders, requiring the IDF to attack them. >Israel’s Defense Min. said Israel is now fighting a multi-front war (my opinion: Psa. 83; Isa. 17; and Ezek. 38-39 may be shaping up). >Hezbollah threatened to escalate its attacks on Israel if Israel does not stop its attacks in the Gaza Strip. >In one hour, Hezbollah (and perhaps Hamas) fired 30 rockets from Lebanon into Israel (Israeli jets struck back). >Israeli troops have moved into the heart of Gaza City where they are searching for terrorists, their tunnels, weapons, and supplies. >Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Gazans are beginning to leave Gaza City. >Israel uncovered and destroyed tunnels underneath a home in a civilian community. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 >Terrorists in the Gaza Strip have fired more than 9,500 rockets into Israel since Oct. 7, 2023, that have injured more than 7,000 Israelis (51 seriously). >Israel opened an evacuation route for the third day in a row but said time is running out for people to leave (50,000 left today). FYI: God does not send anyone to Hell (all of us are born with a sin nature and destined to go to Hell because we sin), but God has provided a way (Jesus) for everyone to go to Heaven (and He is the only way to get there; John 14:6). Fighting is heating up along Israel’s northern border, and the Biden administration has decided to bomb facilities used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for a third time in retaliation for new attacks on U.S. forces in the region. This war threatens to spiral out of control at any moment, but there is no turning back now. On Sunday, the IDF continued to tighten the circle around the Hamas headquarters that is located directly beneath Gaza’s biggest hospital… Israeli ground forces on Sunday battled Hamas militants near Gaza’s largest hospital, where health officials said thousands of staff, patients and displaced people remain trapped with no electricity, dwindling supplies and some gunfire coming inside. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed growing international calls for a cease-fire unless it includes the release of all the nearly 240 hostages kidnapped by Hamas in its bloody Oct. 7 rampage that triggered the war, saying Israel was bringing its “full force” with the aim of ending Hamas’ 16-year rule in Gaza. The IDF has been making steady progress, and it is being reported that they have even killed the Hamas commander that was keeping staff and patients from leaving the hospital… Israeli forces on Saturday night claimed to have killed a Hamas commander who held 1,000 Gazans “hostage” in a hospital as human shields. The Israel Defense Forces said that Ahmed Siam, a leader in Hamas’s al-Furqan Brigade, had blocked civilians from evacuating the Al-Rantisi Hospital in Gaza City earlier this week. Meanwhile, fighting continues to intensify on the northern front. On Friday, Hezbollah admitted that seven more of their fighters had been killed, and that brings the grand total to 68 since the war started… Lebanon’s Hezbollah has issued a rare announcement Friday, saying that seven of its fighters have been killed, describing that they were “martyred on the road to Jerusalem” – which is code for fighting Israel. But it’s being widely reported that at least some of the slain Hezbollah members were killed inside Syria, after a new Friday Israeli airstrike on central Homs. In total on Friday, Hezbollah released seven death notices. Hezbollah as well as international sources have cited a death toll of at least 68 Hezbollah fighters since the Oct.7 conflict began, centered on southern Israel and Gaza. Then on Sunday, an IDF drone hit a target 40 kilometers inside the Lebanese border… Earlier this morning, Lebanese media outlets reported that an IDF drone struck a truck near the coastal village of al-Zahrani, some 40 kilometers from the Israeli border, just south of Sidon. There were no reports of injuries in the strike. The IDF had said it had carried out a strike on a site from which surface-to-air missiles were fired at military drones over the Israel-Lebanon border, without specifying the exact location. The fact that this strike happened so deep inside Lebanon has greatly infuriated the Islamic world. But if Hezbollah does not stand down, much worse is coming. On Saturday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant specifically warned Hezbollah that what the IDF has done to Gaza it can also do to Beirut… “If it (Hezbollah) makes this kind of mistake here, the ones who will pay the price will be first and foremost Lebanese citizens,” Gallant told soldiers on Israel’s northern border in remarks relayed by his office. “What we’re doing in Gaza, we can also do in Beirut.” Needless to say, Damascus could potentially get flattened as well. In fact, IDF warplanes just hit “terror infrastructure in Syria” in response to rocket fire which had come over the northern border… Israeli warplanes struck terror infrastructure in Syria a short while ago, the Israel Defense Forces says. The IDF says this is in reaction to rocket fire several hours ago from Syria toward the Golan Heights. Of course this is just the beginning. During a major speech on Saturday, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah made it abundantly clear that his forces are not going to stop hitting both the U.S. and Israel… The leader of Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group said Saturday his fighters have introduced new weapons, including a missile with a heavy warhead in the ongoing fighting along the Lebanon-Israel border, adding that they will keep using the tense frontier to pressure Israel. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also blasted the United States over the Israel-Hamas war, saying it is the only country that can stop Israel’s wide offensive on the Gaza Strip but doesn’t do so. He said attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria, that Washington says have reached more than 40 rockets and suicide drone attacks, will continue until the war in Gaza comes to an end. So the clashes between Israel and Hezbollah will continue. And the clashes between the U.S. and Hezbollah will continue too. On Saturday morning, more suicide drones targeted U.S. troops in Syria… Armed suicide drones have targeted US forces in Syria, in the latest sign that Iranian-backed militias in the region could try to widen the Israel-Hamas war by striking American troops. A Pentagon official told DailyMail.com that ‘multiple one-way drones’ were launched on Saturday morning against US and coalition forces stationed at Rumalyn Landing Zone in northern Syria. In response, the U.S. has bombed two facilities in Syria that are used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This was the third such attack since October 27th… The U.S. military retaliated over recent attacks on American bases by bombing two facilities in eastern Syria, a senior U.S. official tells Fox News. Two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stations in the Middle East were hit on Sunday night. One was an IRGC training facility, while the other was used by IRGC proxy forces. Sunday night’s airstrikes were the third set of retaliatory attacks against Iranian proxies on behalf of the U.S. since October 27. The U.S. is already at war with both Iran and Hezbollah. Most Americans don’t realize this, because the Biden administration doesn’t want to admit it and the mainstream media doesn’t want to admit it. But if someone attacks your troops dozens of times and you keep bombing them in response, you are at war with them. This war is going to get extremely intense, and it is setting the stage for some really bad things that will happen after the war is over. The Gaza Strip is 25 miles long and only 7.5 miles wide at its widest point. The Gaza trigger has been pulled. We do not yet know the damage it will cause. So far, escalation seems to be the word of the hour. Gaza’s war has already escalated beyond the Middle East — drawing in Russia, China, Europe, and the United States. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), and you will be praying for peace on earth. On Thursday, October 26th, three men met in Moscow. The least credentialed of the three was by far the most important, at least for now. He is Musa Abu Marzouk, an engineer educated in the United States, who became a key leader of Hamas. If the terror group had a Secretary of State, it would be Marzouk. He met with the deputy foreign ministers of Russia and Iran. Their stated purpose was to discuss Hamas’s continuing war with Israel. According to Ezekiel 38, Russia and Iran will one day lead a coalition of nations in a massive assault against Israel. God will intervene on Israel’s behalf — not with iron dome missile interceptors, but with His own mighty hand. Until the Islamic revolution of 1978-79, Russia (then the Soviet Union) and Iran had been highly antagonistic. That began to change with the revolution. The relationship grew much stronger during this century with Vladimir Putin in charge of Russia. As the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, Iran has been the target of many sanctions from the United Nations, the United States, and others. But Putin’s Russia continued to trade with Iran, severely limiting the sanctions’ impact. Russia and Iran now maintain close military and economic ties. At the end of the meeting, Marzouk said of Hamas, “We look at Russia as our closest friend.” That same day in the Middle East, US F-16s struck two facilities in eastern Syria, a weapons depot and an ammunition storage site. The Americans went to great pains to make sure there would be no human casualties. The facilities are used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups. The affiliated groups had made 19 attacks against US military installations in the 10 days leading up to the US response. Administration officials made it clear that they see those who are attacking American forces as proxies of Iran. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said, “Iran wants to hide its hand and deny its role in these attacks against our forces. We will not let them.” The 19 attacks against US installations caused injuries and contributed to the “cardiac episode” of a US contractor that resulted in his death. The United States had to respond, but did so in the mildest way possible. The Biden Administration seemed determined not to escalate the situation. Even so, the US attack in Syria did cause an escalation. Israel’s necessary ground incursion [currently taking place] in Gaza will also provoke some level of escalation. Will Hezbollah — with its 100,000 troops and as many as 200,000 missiles — fully enter the fray from the north? Might Iran move directly against Israel, the United States, or both? For years, the Iranians have been practicing and planning assaults against US aircraft carriers. With the Eisenhower carrier group [in the Middle East], is it possible they might finally dust off those plans and give it a try? Planet Earth is armed to the teeth. Its leaders seethe with pride and anger. Pray. Do as the Bible says. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” How Could God Cast Off Israel When Jesus Promises to Reign From Jerusalem? – By Barry Stagner - https://harbingersdaily.com/how-could-god-cast-off-israel-when-jesus-promises-to-reign-from-jerusalem/ Psalm 132:17-18 KJV – “There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. 18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.” In verse twelve of our psalm, we read God’s promise to David that his sons’ sons would sit on his throne forever. Sons, of course, in this case means descendants. The verse mentions the horn of David. This refers to his kingdom and power. So from David’s kingdom would come one who will sit on David’s throne forever, whose reign (crown) shall flourish! This was also foretold in the New Testament. In the gospel of Luke, we find the account of the angel Gabriel coming to Mary at God’s command. He spoke to this young virgin: “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women” (1:26-28). Mary was troubled by what he said, but the angel comforted her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. . . . Behold you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end” (vv. 30-33). Who was this Child who would be born to Mary? His name was Jesus, and He will be the one King of the Jews yet to rule from Jerusalem! How does He qualify for this, aside from being God’s only begotten Son? David himself was his ancestral father. To what national people group did David belong? The nation of Israel. Where will His throne be? In Jerusalem! Through all of this we need to understand that if, as some claim, God has cast Israel off forever because of their disobedience, then Jesus would have forfeited the right to sit on David’s throne, and biblical prophecy would be a lie. Saints, God’s Word doesn’t lie, and it doesn’t change. There can be no other culmination of the history of mankind than what is foretold will happen as we approach the last of the last days. The lamp spoken of in verse 17 speaks of enlightenment. We see it is prophesied that from the lineage of David will come the Light of the world, whose enemies will be clothed with shame. “Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and . . . sin . . . and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb 12:1). Jesus came as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world. He bore the shame of the cross to accomplish that. Did we then see the shame with which His enemies were to have been clothed (see v. 18 above)? “My anger is kindled against the shepherds [the religious leaders]. . . . For the Lord of hosts will visit His flock, the house of Judah, and will make them as His royal horse in the battle. . . . They will be like mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle. They shall fight because the Lord is with them, and the riders on the horses shall be put to shame. I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph. I will bring them back, because I have mercy on them. They shall be as though I had not cast them aside; for I am the Lord their God, and I will hear them” (Zec 10:3-6). Even now we see God protecting Israel and strengthening Judah because of His mercy. Nationally, even now He has not totally cast them aside. But there remains one unfinished piece of business regarding the Jews, Jerusalem, and Jesus. Jesus must return to the earth, this time as King, the descendant of David, who was divinely ordained to rule from Jerusalem, but who has yet to ascend to the throne. He is coming again soon! The veracity of the Scriptures regarding these events is essential when it comes to biblical integrity and infallibility, which are inseparable prophetic companions. Daily Jot: Possessing the covenant and your faith - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com It is an appalling scene these days witnessing the atrocities against Israeli Jews and the reaction of demonstrations, killings and hostilities acted out against Jews around the world. From Turkey to Iran to Saudi Arabia and all their vassal states, the message is of “Free Palestine” where the Jewish people will be eliminated from the earth and a Palestinian state will be established with Jerusalem as its capitol. How can people fall in line with such unthinkable evils? As Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” We are tested of justice and faith. The feud over the land has its roots in the schism between the descendants of Isaac and Ishmael. And it will be decided once and for all upon the return of Christ. Abraham had received two promises from God, both mentioned five times—the first being the covenant of the land, God told Abraham that all the land of Canaan would be his in Genesis 12:7; 13:14-17;15:7; 15:18-21; 17:7-8. The second promise was that his descendants would be numerous, also stated five times in Genesis 12:2; 13:16; 15:5 17:4-5; 23:17. These promises were given to Abraham and his descendants as an “everlasting possession.” However, Abraham owned no land until he buys the cave at Makhpelah upon Sarah’s death, and has only one son, Isaac (Ishmael not being the bearer of the covenant). These two events are significant in that Abraham has to undergo an intense bargaining process to buy a small piece of land (the haggling is still going on to this day). Yet, Abraham is persistent in wanting to own the land outright. It is the only part of the Promised Land that He would possess in his lifetime, yet he trusted God, “For he was looking forward to a city with permanent foundations, of which the architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11:8-10).” Abraham is the consummate example of faith— “Trusting/faith is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).” By the time Moses led the Israelites to the promised land, Canaan, the land God covenanted to the descendants of Abraham, was occupied, at least in part, by the descendants of Noah’s son Ham as well as Ishmael and Esau. Point is, the God-given land to the Israelites had to be possessed, something that didn’t happen in Abraham’s lifetime. Abraham, however, had faith that God was true to his word. Fast forward to today. The land’s possession is under constant challenge. It is so because the Israelites historically have been unable to keep the precepts of God in order to maintain possession of the land in its fullness (Deuteronomy 28). The world and faith are warring factions. The covenant land and faith. In our lives, we also have the covenant of Christ’s promise of salvation justified by faith. Let us put aside the hindrances of the world that may prevent the full possession of the promise! Maybe you bought a car or a house on an impulse, and now you’re sorry you did so. Maybe you signed a contract that you didn’t read carefully or entered into a business deal that you should have considered more. Or maybe you made a marriage commitment that you didn’t bring before the Lord in prayer, and you have regretted that. I’ve come to discover that God’s timing is just as important as God’s will. There are times when we pray about something and God says no. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that His answer always will be no. It means that is His answer for now. So don’t give up. That is why the Bible tells us to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking (see Matthew 7:7). On the other hand, there are certain things we may ask God to do, and He always will say no. Those are things that are in direct opposition to what the Bible teaches. In the Book of Exodus, we find a story about a man of God who had bad timing. If he were in a race, he would be the guy who comes out of nowhere to take the lead and then suddenly self-destructs. His name was Moses. If we were to draw up a short list of people whom God has used in a powerful way, certainly Moses would be at the top. He was Moses, the great lawgiver and the man who, through his personal godliness and integrity, kept three million people from turning to idolatry. But perhaps the best description of all is this one: Moses the man of God. Yet Moses was a bit on the impulsive side. Even though Pharaoh’s daughter had adopted him and raised him in the royal household, Moses knew who he was. He was a true believer in the Lord God. Underneath those Egyptian robes of royalty beat the heart of a Hebrew. Moses’ heart was in the right place, but his actions were foolhardy, to say the least. He took action, and it was the worst mistake of his life. In Exodus 2 we read, “Many years later, when Moses had grown up, he went out to visit his own people, the Hebrews, and he saw how hard they were forced to work. During his visit, he saw an Egyptian beating one of his fellow Hebrews. After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand” (verse 11–12 NLT). Clearly God did not tell Moses to do this. Moses looked in all directions, but he should have looked up. If he had done that, God would have said no. Sometimes we want the will of God, but we will go about it in our own way. God wants us to do His will in His way in His time.
